I couldn’t understand her. Was she joking with me? Teasing? Being plain exasperating? Crossing my arms, I raised my chin. “Walking it would take hours. It’s big.”

Every read a book that just broke you and left you speechless??? Pepper Winters did just that.

WOW. Now this is an Epic Story!! And I only read 1/3 of the series. Yes – I am that idiot. I did not read the first two books and you don’t have to but I urge you (as the moron who did not do that), please read them in order because WOW! And not because I was lost at all, but because I can only imagine that the emotions I have felt reading this one would have been ten-fold, if that is possible.

I won’t give anything away in this review because you have to go into this book either knowing who Jacob is or going into like I did – with just the blurb alone.

I cried. I screamed. I laughed. I smiled. I hurt. I found myself deep in thoughts of death, grief, after life, life itself. Most of all, I felt EVERYTHING while reading this book.

The Son and His Hope is long but so damn worth every word you read. Jacob was frustrating at times but it’s his journey that makes you understand and empathize. Hope was a hurricane of emotions – a force to be reckoned with. She was everything Jacob wasn’t.

This story will stay with you long after you have finished. I will be honest, I am truly at a loss for words as how I feel after reading this; so many emotions running wild. I loved every bit of this even though it broke me in every possible way. Pepper, your stories leave such a huge imprint on our souls, that “Thank You” doesn’t seem enough.

Fellow readers, when you start this series (and I highly urge you start this from Book 1), be prepared to have your soul rocked. Peppers will bring life to her words and have you living her characters lives – you will live and breath them for days to come.

My Review:

Say You’re Sorry is the latest book from author Karen Rose and holy moly it was one helluva thrill ride! I loved it!

First off, can we just appreciate this gorgeous cover? But the fun really begins when you open it up…

From the very beginning we are thrown into the action when Daisy is attacked and manages to elude a yet-unknown serial killer. What follows after is a deep dive into the investigation to find out who this masked lunatic is. We’re treated to not only the hero and heroines points of view, but the serial killer himself. Talk about one interesting voice! Also, along the way we are treated to Daisy’s sordid past, Special Agent Gideon Reynolds heartbreaking childhood, and a cast of ride-or-die characters you’d want in your life. I loved everything about this story from start to finish!

This isn’t my first Karen Rose book and it sure will not be my last! If you’re looking for a well-written romantic suspense storyline with dynamic characters and many well thought out layers, this is a book for you. Thank you, Ms. Rose, for a fabulous read!

Meghan really knows how to keep us on our toes and keeps the story intense and interesting.

Luck of the Devil starts off right where Deal with the Devil ended and moves just as quickly through the story.

Meghan is slowly giving us tidbits about both Forge and Indy’s pasts. Secrets from pasts are revealed but they also only bring more questions in to play.

I am loving the twisty and bumpy journey that Meghan is taking us on with Forge and Indy. Every time you think you have something figured out, Meghan throws out another curveball and adds more to the suspenseful plot.

As always – Meghan knows how to leave us dangling off the edge by our fingertips with these endings…..and this is an ending where I truly have more questions then I expected.

Want is the newest book from author Kayti McGee, an author I absolutely adore. I always know when I pick up a book she’s written I’m going to have dynamic characters and a story line I get lost in and this was a shining example of just that. I loved every minute of this read!

First, the left side of your bow tie to be about an inch or one and a half inches longer than your right one. So, long end goes over short end. Pinch with your left hand. Now, the longer end goes up through the hole and you pull it tight.

Now, your right hand, you leave your bow tie here.With your left hand, you hold that end of the bow tie and you bring your index finger between your body and the bow tie and you move it over to create a bow tie shape which you can see here. Now with your right hand, bring the other piece in, the longer piece and fold it over.

Now it really looks like a bow tie from the front. So what I do now is I take this part of the bow tie and hold it together like so.

Now I switch my hands and what I can see now is that I created a hole back here and this is where this part has to go through. Now I create another bow tie shape here and I do that with my fingers like so, fold it up so I get a shape similar to a bow tie and I just push it through that little hole recreated. Now, I pull the folded ends so it tightens the knot of my bow tie and there you go, the bow tie. I am just going to start calling Meghan March the “Queen of Trilogies!”

Deal with the Devil is the first book in her Forge Trilogy and she holds nothing back. What I am enjoying about this trilogy compared to her other ones is that there is more at play here.

India Baptiste is a well-known, top-ranked poker player. Jericho Forge is a billionaire in his own right. Bastien de Vere is a playboy living off his family’s money. However, money is not something any of them have had to begged for, until now.

India finds herself in a jam and is running out of options. Bastien and Forge of course will both stop at nothing to help her attaining what she needs. But neither know the details of what she needs or why. But they both have a reason for needing her too.

The Forge series is just getting started and Meghan has thrown some of the cards out on the table. But not all is revealed and that’s what makes this trilogy all the more enticing.

I cannot wait to see what Meghan brings us next and where this story leads us.

Review of Absolution by Keri Lake

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. I know that seems so cliché to write, but it is so fitting for this story.

If you not had the pleasure of reading anything by Keri Lake before, this small novella/short story is the perfect look into what you will get when you read her stories. Keri is one of my go-to authors for anything she writes.

In Absolution we find two people – a man who chose to become a priest when he could no longer fight the demons tearing away inside of him. But as we all know, you can never quiet your inner musings. There will come a time when you can no longer hide who you truly are. Are you absolved of your past sins when you become a man of faith?

And a woman who sold her soul to the devil. A deal she made that has haunted her from the very beginning. What happens when you can no longer fight? Can someone ever be absolved of a sin for a crime they were aware of, but had no proof and did not report?

Keri’s delivers a very twisted and gut-wrenching story of two people’s lives that are forever changed due to one person. It’s a story that reveals two people who finally see who the other one really is once the veil of self-loathing is removed.

Oh I loved this one so much. And I have no doubt that we will be seeing more of these characters in a future book.

I was only able to read this novella within this anthology but I have no doubt the rest are just as amazing.

“Let’s eat before we leave. I’m sure there’s quite the spread downstairs.”

“Rich people breakfast?” I ask.

She furrows a brow for a few seconds. “Yes. I suppose so.” Rolling away, she swings her legs around and stands up, stretching like a cat.

“Do you eat rich people breakfast every morning?” My curiosity has been piqued.

After a long yawn, she cocks her head to the side, lips slightly twisted. “Shredded Wheat with cut-up banana and almond milk. Is that a rich person’s breakfast?”

I sit up, doing a bit of my own stretching, loving the way her gaze roams along my bare chest, her lips parting ever so slightly. “No. I think that’s a solid middle-class breakfast.”

“Middle. That’s average. Average is good, right?”

“There’s nothing average about you, Henna.” I stand, following her into the bedroom.

“I’m going to shower quickly, and by quickly I mean I need an hour. Do you have an hour?”

“To shower with you?” I try to play it cool, like I’m serious.

I’m a little serious.

The color leaves her face. “Oh, um …” She twists her fingers together, drawing her shoulders inward.

“I’m kidding.”

A little kidding.

Henna’s posture relaxes as her cheeks pink up again. “We could.” Her gaze darts around the room before landing on mine for two seconds only to wander around the room again.

“My clothes are at my hotel. I’ll shower there. I need to get going.”

A slow sigh deflates her chest as she tries on a smile that misses the confident mark by a few centimeters. “Okay.”

“But thanks for the offer.” I wink.

More color paints her cheeks, and it looks stunning on her. “I kinda sorta thought we’d have sex last night, but we didn’t, and that’s fine, but now I don’t know what comes next.”

Does that make me the world’s biggest idiot for not taking what she was planning on offering? Or does that make me a gentleman? I’ve already fucked her a hundred different ways in my head, so I’m going to shy away from the gentleman label.

“How about you put my number in your phone and I’ll call you later today? That feels like a good next, don’t you think?”

Henna nods and turns, walking toward the bedroom door. Digging through her purse, she retrieves her phone. When she pulls it out, a string of three condoms comes out with it. “Oh jeez.” Quickly snatching them off the floor, she shoves them back into her purse.

I don’t respond because I’m not sure what the correct response should be.

“I was conceived at Coachella.” She hands me her phone with the contact screen open, ready for my information.

Taking her phone, I give her an expectant look, but she withholds all elaboration.

“And by conceived, you mean physical conception, not merely an idea kind of conception?” I hand her phone back and give her mine.

“In the shadows behind a stage. I know more details than most people should actually know about the moment they were conceived.” She lifts a shoulder in a small shrug. “But Juni is my best friend. She’s the absolute coolest mom ever, and the story of how she met my dad is my favorite story ever.”

I nod as she keeps her chin tipped toward the screen to my phone. “Why is that?” I take my phone back when she holds it out to me.

“Yin Yang. Opposites. Laws of the universe.” She wears a satisfied smile. “My parents were temporary. I was permanent.” Holding out her arms, she inspects her henna tattoos as if seeing them for the first time. “My mom had henna tattoos on her body when she met my dad. Henna grows in intensity over a few days before fading to nothing. It’s magical and beautiful and then it’s gone. My parents say that about their love for each other. It grew quickly into something deep and intense, but over time it faded. Their love—like most everything in life—was temporary.”

“We’re temporary.”

Her empty stare shifts to meet my gaze and she nods. “Don’t sweat it. Everything is temporary. But today…” she walks into my chest, and my arms wrap around her as she looks up at me “…we should be at our brightest, our most intense.”

I haven’t read many books by Jewel Ann and for the life of me, I have no idea why. LOL I know when I have read a few other previous books, I thoroughly enjoyed the story line and her characters so much. And this book is no different.

Jewel puts her all into every book she writes – I can feel the life come off the pages as I am reading them. Her books become alive and her characters so real.

A Place Without You is an extremely emotional book – you will have lots of highs and lots of lows, but it’s all so worth it.

Henna and Bodhi meet by chance at Coachella – and they aren’t looking for anything other than to enjoy what life has to offer. But they are both there due to very different reasons – one is escaping reality and the other is enjoying all that life can throw their way.

Henna may be a young, free spirit, but I love her outlook on things. Her parents have given her the perfect balance in life, but have also instilled strong ethics in her. I love Henna and even though she truly never took advantage of her parent’s lifestyle, she’s frequently forgot how easy she has it – how she’s able to do anything and not worry. However, it’s those moments that Henna has her “ah-ha” moments to reflect on how easy her life is compared to others. But she also uses her connections and parent’s lifestyle in good ways.

Bodhi had to grow up really fast in his life. He’s taken on a huge burden and feel it’s his duty to step and take on the reigns of everything. Bodhi is very selfless but also self deprecating too. He doesn’t see his worth and doesn’t feel he truly deserves anything that what his life has become.

Henna and Bodhi are two totally opposites in every way. They met in the most unpredictable way. They both knew not to view it as anything other than temporary but their hearts would forever be changed by that chance meeting.

Jewel takes us on a journey I had never anticipated. I love that Jewel puts the characters and their needs first – neither Henna nor Bodhi put their attraction and feelings before their wants and needs. They had plans and stuck to them, regardless of the outcome.

I feel like I have already said too much. I know this review feels like it is all over the place and it probably is. But that’s because that is how this book has left me. LOL I have a million thoughts running through my head, a million emotions and I love it at all.

I love how this book plays out – each scenario is real and raw and 100% honest. The characters stay true to themselves and don’t change just because another person enters their lives. While the characters at times did annoy me, it never took away from the story.

Henna and Bodhi are characters I will never forget and their story is one that I love – it’s the angst and passion I love reading. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a great romance story.

“Take these,” Axel says, not making eye contact with me as he drops a couple pills in my palm. “For the pain.” He raises his eyes as he hands me a bottle of water, and I have to work hard to stifle my gasp. He has the most piercing silvery-blue eyes I’ve ever seen. And my impression of him back at the park did not do him justice. Didn’t do any of them justice, I realize as I quickly glance at Heath and Skeet too.
Holy hotness. These three are gorgeous. Each uniquely so. Skeet’s messy, long hair curls around his ears and the nape of his neck, only begging to be touched. And cute is too simple of a word to describe how adorably good-looking he is with his striking green eyes and flirtatious smile.
Heath looks even bigger under the glare of this light, and his biceps are well-defined under the tight long-sleeved Henley he’s wearing. He has a preppy all-American boy look about him, and I’m betting the girls at Kentsville High are all up in his space.
There’s no denying Axel has the bad boy rebel look down pat. Now that he’s lost the leather jacket, I can see he’s ripped in all the right places too. He’s not as bulky as Heath but bigger than Skeet. With his eyebrow piercing and the tats creeping up the side of his neck, he emits a dangerous vibe that is intoxicating.
All three are clearly hazardous to my health. But it’s good to know my hormones are still working. And that I’m capable of attraction to the male race.
After Cam dumped me— unceremoniously and without any hesitation—I doubted I’d ever feel anything for any guy again. Cam failed me when I needed him most, breaking my heart apart all over again. Ethan would be so disappointed in him if he were still here.

For anyone who has been following my reviews, you will know that I am a huge Siobhan Davis fan. Anything she writes, I will read. She has not written a single book that I did not enjoy. While I was excited to read Surviving Amber Springs, I was a bit apprehensive about it due to be YA – a dramatic, reverse harem YA at that.

Siobhan took all my worries and obliterated them. I was fearful of the typical, run-of-the-mill high school dramatics, along with reverse-harem just to show multiple love interests only to use that as a way to entertain particular erotic scenes. Both of those worries/fears were quickly put to the grave and that truly helped me enjoy this book so much.

Siobhan deals with some very heavy topics in this story and they are topics that are sadly, a part of our life now. But she handles these issues with grace yet realism. Siobhan handles the issues with delicacy but doesn’t shy away from heart of the problem, the rawness of it. And I love that – it allows the story line to feel more real.

As for the reverse harem aspect – most reverse harem I have read are in the paranormal or fantasy genre, so I was a bit skeptical on how this would play out. Siobhan definitely shows more emotion and heart between these characters than just the sheer attraction. While it felt a little too insta-love for me in the beginning (her books usually delve further into relationship development), you could still tell there was more between them all just one layer of attraction. I absolutely enjoyed that the attachments between each guy were different and Siobhan was amazing at keeping those attractions unique and separate; each guy held a prominent and important piece in Blaire’s life.

Overall, the book and it’s storyline was amazing. I love these characters and their story. While I felt things came together a little quickly and convenient in the end, that does not take away from the overall greatness of the book. The story itself was magnificent.

I love Siobhan’s books. Her writing is so unique; she is descriptive, makes you feel the depth of each character and really pulls into the story. You feel every emotion these characters endure (as with all her books).

If you are Siobhan Davis fan, you need to read this one – RH fan or not. If you are new to Siobhan, I highly encourage you read this one, especially if you enjoy RH.

Surviving Amber Springs was so much more than I expected and has me loving Siobhan even more (if that were possible).

Cop Tales is another anthology that I really enjoyed – not just because of the stories, but because it allows me to enjoy a new author and support a worthy cause all the same time.

Cop Tales is a nice mix of indie and traditionally published authors with a great mix of romance, suspense and some sexy times. Each story is different and gives you a really nice glimpse into what each author is about.

I didn’t get to read each story but the ones that I did (All It Took by Abbi Glines, Cuffed Together by T.R. Cupak and Love Reloaded by Kat T Masen) were amazing the perfect length for this anthology. And that’s what I love about anthologies – I can these as I am reading other books since each story is separate and short.

Cop Tales is an amazing anthology and supports a great cause. It’s one I highly recommend to anyone.

T.M. Frazier has once again, nailed another trilogy.

Permission is the conclusion to her Perversion Trilogy and she goes out with bang on this one. I have read all three of these books within a day – that is how damn addictive they are.

We get all the answers we wanted, but not before she takes us on ride of twists and turns. And there are some wild moments in this book.

And that is really all I am going to tell you. I am truly afraid if I give one thing away, it will give too much away.

This trilogy was edge of your seat exhilarating. T.M. kept us glued to these pages and entrenched so deep in the story, there is no way to walk away from this once you start. It is jaw-dropping, addictive with how raw, dark and gritty this series is.

Just throwing out a wish for the lovely Mrs Frazier – it would be really awesome if we see future books about a few other characters that were mentioned in this series. HINT HINT. LOL
