I always believed in fairy tales, but he preferred horrors.
Damian Blackstone didn’t care about my existence. He came into my world for one reason only. He came to find answers about his past.
He moved like the villain in my favorite fairy tales. He wasn’t the one who received the happily ever afters; he was the one who destroyed them.
Which was why I couldn’t understand why the man who raised me set it up in his will for Damian and me to be married. I wasn’t certain I’d be able to live with a man like Damian. We were as opposite as any two people could be. I loved to bathe in the sunlight while he prospered in the shadows.
I didn’t think I’d develop feelings for the one who looked at me as if I were nothing more than a means to an end. Yet in his darkness, sometimes I’d see sparks of light. I’d see gentleness. I’d see his soul.
We became entangled with one another as we fell into mistakes and called them fate. I was his Cinderella, and he was my Beast.
I wasn’t certain that twisted fairy tales ended with happily ever afters.
Brittainy Cherry has been in love with words since the day she took her first breath. She graduated from Carroll University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts and a minor in Creative Writing. She loves to take part in writing screenplays, acting, and dancing–poorly of course. Coffee, chai tea, and wine are three things that she thinks every person should partake in! Brittainy lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When she’s not running a million errands and crafting stories, she’s probably playing with her adorable pets.
“Sometimes one had to let go of their yesterdays in order to reach their better tomorrows.”
Western Waves was a book that I never knew I needed to read.
WOW. This book was mesmerizing. It was awe-inspiring moving in so many ways. I know fictional books are read so that we as readers can be taken on a journey that will never happen in our own lives. But every once in a while, we come across books that just speak to us in ways we don’t anticipate. Western Waves is one of those books for me.
“Give yourself the same level of love and protection that you give to the people you love.”
Authors write books that are character driven or plot driven. And I am sure that part of this book was one of those two reasons. But I can also say that this book was personal to Brittainy, without even knowing her or asking her. I felt this book in ways I cannot truly explain. This book also spoke to me on a level I had not anticipated nor did I know I needed right now.
Stella and Damian’s story is one about a forced/arranged marriage. They both led very different yet similar lives up until that arranged marriage. They both are closed off in different ways and show their emotions in various ways. Yet one thing lingered behind their walls that was very much the same – HOPE. And not hope in a way most think. It was their own Hope in something they thought was unreachable.
“At least waste your tears on something that matters.”
I enjoyed this story so incredibly much. From the characters, to the story line to the way this book moved me. I want to say so much about this story but don’t want to give anything away. This book must be experienced as you read it. Let the words sink into your soul.
Western Waves is so much more than a story; it’s a poignant and beautiful view on life. Highly, highly recommended read for everyone.
“Yes, it’s easy to love and care within the sun, but real love shows up strongest when the clouds move in and fear is ignited. Real love shows up during the highest of tides, and still, it stays.”

INITIATION RYAT
Loyalty Freshman year at Barrington University I KNEEL IN the middle of the darkly lit room along with twenty other men. My hands are secured tightly behind my back with a pair of handcuffs. My shirt is torn, and blood drips from my busted lips. I’m panting, still trying to catch my breath while my heart beats like a drum in my chest. It’s hard to hear over the blood rushing in my ears, and I’m sweating profusely.
We were dragged out of our beds in the middle of the night to serve. Our freshman classes at Barrington University start in two weeks, but we already have to show our loyalty to the Lords.
“You will always have to prove yourself,”my father once told me. “You were each given a task,”the man calls out as he paces in front of us. His black combat boots slap against the concrete floor with each step, the sound echoing off the walls. “Kill or be killed. Now how many of you can fulfill it?”
“I can,” I state, lifting my head to stick my chin out in the warm and sticky air. Sweat covers my brow after the fight. It’s rigged. You are supposed to lose. The point is to wear you down. See just how much you have to give. How far you can go. I made sure to win mine. No matter what it took.
He smirks down at me like I’m fucking joking. “Ryat. You seem so confident in yourself.”
“I know what I’m capable of handling,”I say through gritted teeth. I don’t like being second-guessed. We were each raised for this—to be a Lord.
Wealth got us here.
Yet our determination will separate us by the time it’s over.
The man looks at the guy on my left and nods. The guy walks behind me and yanks me to stand by the back of my shirt. He undoes the cuffs, and I rip the shredded material up and over my head before dropping my hands to my sides when what I really want to do is rub my sore wrists.
Never show weakness. A Lord does not feel. He’s a machine.
The man steps up to me with a knife in hand. He holds it out handle first to me, his black eyes almost glowing with excitement. “Show us what you can do.”
Taking it from him, I walk over to the chair bolted to the floor. I yank the bloody sheet off the chair to reveal a man tied to it. His hands are cuffed behind his back, and his feet are spread wide and secured to the chair legs.
I’m not surprised I know him—he’s a Lord. Or was. The fact that he’s restrained tells me he’s not anymore. But that doesn’t change my orders.
Kill without questions.
You want to be powerful? Then you realize you are a threat to those who want your position. In order to succeed, you don’t have to be stronger, just deadlier.
The man shakes his head, his brown eyes pleading with me to spare his life. Multiple layers of duct tape are placed over his mouth—those who spill secrets will be silenced. He thrashes in his chair.
Walking behind him, I look down at his cuffed wrists. He wears a ring on his right hand; it’s a circle with three horizontal lines across the middle. It stands for power.
Not just anyone would know what it means, but I do. Because I wear the same one. Everyone in this room does. But just because you get one doesn’t mean you’ll keep it.
I reach down and grab his hand. He begins to shout behind the tape as he tries to fight me, but I remove the ring easily and walk back around to stand in front of him. “You don’t deserve this,”I say to him, placing it in my pocket. “You betrayed us, your brothers, yourself. The payment for that is death.”
When he throws his head back and screams into the tape, I press the knife to his neck, right below his jawline. His breathing fills the room, and his body strains, waiting for the first cut.
A Lord does not show mercy. Blood and tears are what we demand from those who betray us.

He once told me they walked among us, and that somewhere in this dark and godless city, there shined a faint sliver of hope. I had only to look for the signs.
Well, I’ve spent my whole life investigating the inexplicable, and all I’ve found are the unsettling vestiges of iniquity – the evidence of another world shrouded by the obscure. Purgatory to some, where depravity hides in shadows, and girls like me are little more than delicious bites of temptation.
Others call it Nightshade.
This peculiar place is where I first met the cold and callous recluse living in a decaying cliffside cathedral. Jericho Van Croix is the epitome of everything I’ve been told to fear. A raven-winged harbinger who wears intrigue like a warm black cloak. An enigma that I’m determined to unravel – even if it means getting closer than I should.
One touch is forbidden. Even so much as a kiss would be my demise. But the sin on his lips burns me up like a wild flame, and his growing infatuation weakens my resolve.
Giving him what he wants, though, will mean no chance for redemption, or escape. What’s worse is, the signs I’ve followed yet failed to see all these years begin to unmask a terrifying reality:
“It’s supposed to storm tonight. I’ve been told it’s dangerous up here when there’s lightning.” Hand in his, I let him guide me up the tower’s narrow, stone stairwell, lit only by the few flickering lamps that hung from the brackets on the wall.
Grip tightening as if I might try to get away, he glanced over his shoulder at me. “You’ve nothing to worry about.”
The stairwell opened up to beams and scaffolds, moving gears and the tired sounds they made. We hit a magnificent landing en route toward the bell at the tower’s pinnacle, where the back end of the clock’s enormous hands ticked off the seconds in mocking. Counting down the end of innocence. I’d heard the vague rumors of the things that happened to girls in the bell tower. The utter depravity held mostly secret by its ancient walls.
“How can you be so sure?” I asked, stalling at a window, through which a cloud of lightning gave an ominous flicker over the black sea below.
His firm hand gripped me possessively, and before I even realized he’d changed direction, he backed me into the wall. Capricious as the wind that rapped against the window, he fixed his attentions on me, the chilled stones at my back a reminder that there was no escaping him.
The gentle brush of his knuckles down my cheek belied the shadow of malice that slipped behind his otherwise cold, inscrutable eye. “Because I’m so unreasonably rapacious when it comes to you, Miss Ravenshaw, that not even a bolt of lightning should dare touch your skin without consequence.”
In that moment, the thunder seemed more distant, somehow, or perhaps it was the incessant thump of my heart drowning it out.
“You’re jealous of lightning?”
He leaned in closer, the delicious scent of bergamot and licorice as intoxicating as the warm absinthe still pulsing through my veins. His lips traced a featherlight path along my jaw. Teeth grazed my earlobe, breath hot against my neck, as he whispered, “I’m jealous of anything that occupies your mind so unremittingly when you’re with me.”
AUTHOR BIO
Keri Lake is a dark romance writer who specializes in demon wrangling, vengeance dealing and wicked twists. Her stories are gritty, with antiheroes that walk the line of good and bad, and feisty heroines who bring them to their knees. When not penning books, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters, and their rebellious Labrador (who doesn’t retrieve a damn thing). She runs on strong coffee and alternative music, loves a good red wine, and has a slight addiction to dark chocolate.
Have you read a book that has not only left you breathless yet invigorating?! Or left you feeling in such awe that words fail you?!
Nightshade is Keri Lake’s newest Dark Gothic Romance and unlike anything I have read before. This book transcends time through different realms of the planes.
“Some creatures were born to defy the limitations of what should be.”
Keri takes readers from one realm to another along with going back and forth between past and present. While that may sound very daunting and possibly confusing, Keri does a magnificent job of keeping the story moving forward (even when reverting to the past) and each scene flows gracefully into the next without a hitch in them.
I couldn’t help but feel this spine-tingling sensation as I read each word. There’s this underlying feeling of anticipation as you’re unsure of what is to come, it just sends chills through you. Keri builds this story magically and has readers literally waiting on bated breath with each turn of the page.
“‘Dominus vigilans.’– Watch yourself, for you are watched.”
The story is unbelievably unique. The world building and plot is unlike anything I have experienced before. I have to applaud Keri in her ability to write stories that are not only so vastly different, but also so intriguing that you’re lured into a world you’ll never want to leave.
“Strong women will always bear the dangerous burden of a weaker man’s pride.”
Nightshade has Keri’s distinctive dark signature that I have always loved as she never ceases to amaze me. Not only is this a dark and suspenseful story but the romance she weaves into this story is a romance story that transcends time. These characters gripped my soul and had me at their mercy every step of the way.
Nightshade is a must read! While it is a very lengthy book, you will devour this one easily as you are swept away in a world unlike anything you’ve read before.
Game Six loss costing my team the Cup? Check. Getting arrested and ruining my image? Check. Almost getting run over after my car breaks down? Oh, look–a hat trick.
My contract is up with the Carolina Comets this year, and I need to get it together if I want to stay with the team.
I need relaxation, not a relationship.
But when I’m scrolling on a dating app and stumble across the pretty girl who almost ran me over, I know I can’t let her walk away this time.
Harper is funny, smart, and doesn’t care about hockey.
I’m not supposed to be focusing on anything other than my career, yet I can’t get Harper off my mind.
I know I shouldn’t fall for her…but I think I already have.

This is Teagan’s best work to-date. I devoured this book in one sitting. I could not get enough of this book. Puck Shy is sports romantic and comedy and the first book in Teagan’s newest series. This book was everything. Teagan nailed the perfect blend of sports, romance and comedy in this one. I honestly think she has found her niche in writing. I loved every single word of this book. There isn’t one thing that I would change. I loved how the story played out from start to finish and all the nuances in between. The book flows with ease and the timeline is realistic and perfect. Add in the well-rounded cast and this book is truly perfection. The interactions between each of the characters just felt so real and authentic. The banter between Harper and Collin was spot on – it truly felt genuine. And don’t even get me started on the banter with the second characters – Gah, I loved it all!! The book was filled with lots of laughter but also held alot of true emotions. Puck Shy is an amazing read. It has everything romance readers wants. The chemistry and tension is perfection. The building relationship between Harper and Collin makes this book so relatable and amazing. You feel the authenticity of this read. Grab this one immediately!

She survives off coffee, pizza, and sarcasm. When she’s not writing, you can find her binge-watching various TV shows, especially Supernatural and One Tree Hill. She enjoys cold weather, buys more paperbacks than she’ll ever read, and never says no to brownies.
Grand Haven has a new underworld king, and he’s celebrating at the local gentlemen’s club. But rules are rules. Not even the newly crowned underboss of the Coppola crime family touches the girls without permission from the madam who runs the local escort service.
It’s easier said than done once Vera Monroe takes the stage under a blood-red light. The lure of the mysterious dancer can’t be ignored, and they’re soon hooked. However, when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Rip suspects she’s hiding something and forgetting his basic instincts will put his life at risk.
But sometimes rules are meant to be broken.

Canary, an all-new not-to-be-missed, enemies-to-lovers standalone mafia romance from New York Times bestselling author Tijan is available now!
We were on the front lines in that world, the mafia world. There was nothing soft or glamorous about it. Who you were before no longer mattered. Names didn’t exist.
I joined anyway. I had no other choice because they took my sister. Join. Find her. Try and make it out alive.
Then he won me in a poker game. I hated him instantly, thinking he was like my other bosses before him. He wasn’t. He was worse.
He wasn’t just cold. He was dead inside. It didn’t matter that he was gorgeous. He was the most lethal thing I’d ever met.
He was also the only person who could keep me alive, if he didn’t kill me himself.
A/N This is a 102k mafia/cartel standalone. This is the most violent book Tijan has ever written. Trigger warning: references to sexual violence

“I…” I didn’t even know. I couldn’t explain what I didn’t know. “Ask me about Jake in a different way.” “There is no other way.” “You know there is! Ask it in a different way.” I shoved up to my feet. This was the fight here. I was sick of the killing. I could not handle one more body, especially not someone I knew. My chest heaved. “Ask it in a different way.” I liked Jake. I was hurt by what he said, but he wasn’t on my list anymore. I frowned. “What happened with Cavers?” “None of your business!” he erupted, his hands flying in the air, but he was moving farther away from me. His back hit the wall, and he let me see him, how haunted he was, how stricken. He let it all out for me to see and read, though I wasn’t sure he knew it. “I don’t run my decisions through some pussy I like plowing.” Okay, now I was mad. “Take that back,” I said quietly. He swore, low and long. Then he moved, flipping a chair into the wall. It impaled there, and the wall held it. It looked like an abstract piece of art. “Take it back!” I clipped out, folding my arms over my chest. He looked away. I didn’t know what was going on here, but fuck him if he didn’t take back calling me pussy he liked to plow. I screamed, “Take it back!” “No!” He was across the room and in my face in the next second. I braced myself, but he didn’t touch me. He stopped just short of it, his breath in my cheek, his eyes taking me in, scanning my face. He was panicking. I saw it now, lurking there. Good! That filled me with satisfaction. My chest started pounding. No, that was my heart. It was thumping in my chest, getting stronger, faster—a steady and powerful beat now. I could feel it all the way to my toes—in my fingers, my neck. His eyes lingered on my lips. He couldn’t look away. Stark hunger flashed in his eyes, and he raised a hand, holding it in the air. It curved gently, as if he wanted to touch my neck, or the side of my face. But he didn’t move. He just held it there, a few inches from my skin. His eyes lifted to mine. “You bitch.” My heart still pounded, trying to reach him. “You’re a murdering asshole,” I whispered back, seething. “What?”he sneered. “You want to fuck now? Forget you put a fucking gun to your head?” “Don’t kill Jake.” He pressed into me, his eyes wild, on the edge of control. “Why?” His breath was hot on me. He bent down, his eyes glittering now. Then he found his control. He rested one hand against the wall, next to my head. The other found my hip and slid up, moving under my shirt, raising it. God. I almost moaned. Wetness flooded me, and I started to throb. I wanted him. So fucking bad. He bent and his lips grazed over mine, my cheeks, my chin. Tingles raced through me. Jesus. I wanted him deep inside of me. I shifted, pressing against him, and both of us groaned from the contact. I began moving, a slow grind, and he was quiet, grinding back. This was different from the other times. The terms had flipped. Roles were changing. Everything was being upended between us.
I pondered on what to say in my review for this book. I only started reading books by Tijan earlier this year when I was asked to read an arc of The Insiders. Needless to say, her writing blew me away and I knew I had to read whatever she releases. And she did not let me down with Canary. This book was nothing like any other mafia book I have read before.
Canary is a very cumbersome, but amazing story. Thera are so many twists and turns that you never know what is going to happen next. However, with Tijan’s writing, everything flows at a steady pace and blends so perfectly.
There is no shortage of action, angst, drama, steam and emotions. Tijan delivers everything in this unique and gripping mafia story.
Canary is told in dual POV’s but mostly from our heroines’. She goes by many names but found herself walking into this side of life on her own, to find her sister. Raize, our hero is coldblooded killer. He kills without remorse and is damn good at what he does. He finds himself having to rely on the select few on his team to thrive and survive.
And that is all I am saying about Canary. This book is riddled with so much more than you can think of. I have ready many mafia books and this was like nothing I have read before. Tijan pulls readers in from the start and never lets them go, even long after the story ends.
Canary is a must read!!

Blurb:
Tᴡᴏ ʙʀᴏᴛʜᴇʀs. A ᴄʜɪʟᴅʜᴏᴏᴅ sᴡᴇᴇᴛʜᴇᴀʀᴛ.
Life has never been easy for this trio, and especially not after the end of civilization as they knew it. Having had their formative years ripped from them, they were thrust into a shattered, savage world, a world where they only had each other.
Lᴏᴠᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ʟᴏss.
Weary travellers on the brink, there is a storm brewing, a turbulent tempest that has nothing to do with the weather. When tragedy strikes, everything changes in the blink of an eye– facades come undone, and loyalty is pushed to a breaking point.
A ᴅɪᴀᴍᴏɴᴅ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ʀᴏᴜɢʜ.
Immersed back into something akin to normal society, a safe-haven in the midst of misery, our travellers are forced to finally confront their demons–long-kept secrets that have been haunting them for nearly a decade.
This book is unbelievably amazing. I am not sure where to even start with my thoughts.
The Blood That Binds is the third book in the Thicker Than Blood series, but it is a complete and full standalone. Madeline and Claire introduce brand new characters into this series, both main and secondary and bring new life to this series in so many ways.
I won’t divulge too much of what happens in this book because everything flows together and giving anyway tidbits, will just ruin the story. I absolutely love Lucas, Logan and Willow. These three have been through everything as a trio, even before the world ended. So it’s no surprise that they have stuck together long after the world was upended, regardless of their differences. The secondary characters add another amazing layer to this story and are the perfect addition to this story.
I read this book in less than a day. I felt like I was at the edge of my seat the whole time reading. Madeline and Claire do a brilliant job of building up each scene and having it flow perfectly into the next juncture. The pacing in this book is amazing and I can’t tell at any point that there are two people are writing this book. It all flows beautifully together; the plot, the characters and the amazing writing.
Readers will laugh, cry (happy and sad tears), scream and even want to throttle some characters at times. I was thoroughly invested in these characters and their story. There is also no shortage of action and gore either. Madeline and Claire deliver their grittier side with some gruesome scenes that align perfectly with the plot and these characters. Readers will envision this post-apocalyptic due to the brilliant details and will feel as though they’re walking in the characters shoes.
The Blood That Binds is a heart-pounding, explosive read. It’s a great book for readers who read the first two and brand new readers. It is a full standalone and should be read as such. If you read the first two, do not attempt to compare this book to either of those. This book features younger characters and their view on the new world. And if you did not read the first two, you are in for one hell of a great story.
Side note – I really, really, really, really hope that Britta gets her own book. Just read the book and you’ll find out why and agree with me. 🙂

“Forbidden to Love is mafia romance at its best.” -J.A. Owenby, International bestselling author
Forbidden To Love, an all-new dark, forbidden romance set in the same world as Condemned to Love by USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Siobhan Davis, is available now!
Natalia Mazzone has grown up knowing she is promised to a made man. As the only daughter of one of New York’s most powerful mafia dons, she knows she can’t refuse. It’s her duty, and she would never dishonor her beloved father.

So, she grabs happiness when she finds it—in the somewhat reluctant arms of Leonardo Messina.
Leo is her brother’s best friend. A soldato for the Mazzone famiglia. A man with strong ambition and an even stronger resolve. He won’t allow them to give in to temptation, so Natalia is forced to love him from afar.
Until one forbidden night changes everything, and she readily hands Leo the key to her heart.
Leo risked everything for the one woman he can never have. He doesn’t regret it. It saved Natalia from a life of hell, but his actions set her on a different course.
One that doesn’t involve him.
Years have passed, and his feelings remain the same. Yet he keeps his distance, dedicating himself to his new role as underboss to Bennett Mazzone, while the love of his life is married to another man.
Until a twist of fate puts Natalia in his path again, and this time, he is powerless to resist.
This is how Dark Mafia romance is to be written!! Gah!! There are very few authors who truly can write dark mafia romance and Siobhan Davis is one of them!
Forbidden to Love is written in dual POVs, Nat and Leo. This is a complete standalone. I cannot emphasize this enough. Yes, there are other characters from another book that make appearances and there are references made to that book (Condemned to Love), but you do not need to read that book or have any knowledge of it to read this one. Siobhan does a superb job of filling in any gaps without taking away from Nat and Leo’s story. And I am only pointing this out because it is extremely difficult to do that.
Siobhan blew me away with this book. The depth, layers and details she brings to this story is unreal. I felt as though I was living through everything that Nat and Leo had to endure. FTL is filled with action, drama, angst and heart-pounding scenes that will leave readers breathless. I could not get enough of this book.
I love how Siobhan is able to blend the drama and action of the mafia side with the angst and sweet romance side of this story. Forbidden to Love is one dark mafia romance that everyone needs to read. Go buy it now!!

After graduating with her masters in nursing, she’s ready to move out of her parents’ house, whether they support that decision or not. While wallowing in the guilt of that choice at the local bar, she bumps into the one guy she shouldn’t go near.
A player for her family’s team and her cousin’s best friend, Clark should come with a warning label. Not only because he’s the league’s number one playboy, but because he’s significantly older than her.
Unfortunately, they can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other. That initial night together leads to scorching glances across public parties, secret hookups in hidden places, and way more than either of their hearts bargained for.
But being with Clark means lying to those closest to them. When their secret is finally discovered, it sends the already skittish bad boy running for the hills. And although she claimed to want freedom with no strings, Anna can’t help but feel the sharp pull to be with him forever.
Clark Nyle swore a long time ago he’d never be committed to anyone.

Now that he’s gotten a taste of Anna, he can’t stay away. Even if their secret affair comes with way too many consequences. Her family owns the team he plays for, not to mention his best friend would cut off his balls if he knew what they were up to. Plus, he doesn’t want anything long-term, and eventually he’s going to break her heart.
But the more time he spends with her, the more he seems to want a different future than the one he always planned on. Until they’re found out, and he’s forced to choose between his demons and the disapproval of his closest friends … or her.
Tagging Up is the final book in Carrie’s Callahan series and she ends it on a bang!
If you read any of the previous books in this series (you do not have to), then you will have gotten glimpses of Clark. But this book delves a lot deeper into him, his past and who he really is.
Anna is probably one of my favorite heroines from Carrie. She is very level headed, strong in her beliefs and love that she sticks to her guns. I love that she speaks her mind, but does it with maturity.
Clark and Anna have immediate sparks when they bump into one another one night at the bar. They both know of each other due to her family. But Anna has always been off-limits to Clark because of her family. But for one night, he can agree to a no-strings attached night of fun.
I love this story so much. Carrie delivers a beautiful story full of growth in so many aspects. Clark and Anna are two characters that were just made for one another. They truly balance one another and their connection is one-of-a-kind. And let me tell you, these two are off the charts hot!!
Another great book from Carrie Aarons!
Meet Carrie Aarons
Author of romance novels such as Fool Me Twice and Love at First Fight, Carrie Aarons writes books that are just as swoon-worthy as they are sarcastic. A former journalist, she prefers the love stories of her imagination, and the athleisure dress code, much better.
When she isn’t writing, Carrie is busy binging reality TV, having a love/hate relationship with cardio, and trying not to burn dinner. She’s a Jersey girl living in Texas with her husband, daughter, son, and Great Dane/Lab rescue.

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.
An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.
When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.
Well, let’s see … I’m a wife and a mother. If the things that I write bring a smile to someone’s face, then I’ve done my job.
I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob.
If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies.
I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I’ll love you forever.
This is only the second book I have ever read by Karla Sorensen. Why has no one ever recommended her books to me before?!? WHY???
The Lie is another smashing hit for me from Karla. I could not read this book fast enough. I loved these characters so much; I love, love, love Faith – she just made me smile so hard so much. Gah! LOVE HER!! Dominic had me on edge at the beginning. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about him in the end. But I definitely warmed up to him as the story progressed.
I loved everything about this book. The romance, all the feels but also the tidbits of angst thrown in. And the banter – so much amazing banter between Faith and Dominic. I loved the cute “you’ve got mail” twist in this story. It was a nice addition to the story.
I could tell that there characters from other series in this book, but it did not effect this story in any way. If anything, it just makes me want to go back and read those stories.
Karla has truly earned herself another fan and reader in me. I love that this story was so much more than a sports romance. I enjoyed the family aspects, the growth in these characters and how genuine everything felt. Karla truly knows how write a story with many layers and weave them altogether beautifully. I cannot wait for the next book!!
