Ummmmmm, yea – this was far from what I anticipated.
El Diablo II is to be a complete stand-alone (but I am not sure that new readers will see that). The premise for this book held so much promise. Did I like it? Yes. However, I felt what was given to us was not what I had expected. I felt that a lot was overlooked, parts were far too overly dramatic and the book wasn’t focused on Cruz and Sienna but other previous characters.
El Diablo II felt more like continuation to Alejandro’s story with an intro to what we can expect next in a spinoff series featuring his kids and what is come in with the five families coming together. I felt that Cruz and Sienna’s story was very overlooked. I personally do not feel that what we got, was Robinson at her best.
I have read almost all of Robinson’s books and I always know that I going to get a story with a deep and expanding plot and characters who are more than one dimensional. I did not get any of that with this book. I felt nothing between Cruz and Sienna til near the end and that felt too rushed for me. They spend no time together and then all of sudden near the end, they’re ready to rip each other’s clothes off. Ehhhh…no.
Cruz doesn’t come across as anything other than a pissed off boy (yes, boy) with the need for revenge. He does not see anywhere the dark and twisted person that Robinson tries to portray. He’s all talk and no bite.
Sienna came across as this bitch most of the book and only softened near the end when her life was at risk (yea, not sold on that turn around). And maybe that’s how all mafia princesses are but it made me not care for her.
The book dragged a lot; there was nothing exciting til about the last 15-20% of the book. The majority of Sienna and Cruz’s interactions were arguing and that got redundant quickly. I felt nothing between them but anger and animosity. This book was open to too many assumptions and things happened that had me scratching my head.
I am usually excited for other character’s books but this time, I am only excited for one – Cruz’s sister, Ari and Christiano and what happened to her during captivity (I truly hope when her books comes out, that part is not overlooked or hurried at all).
Overall – it just ok for me. The ending is what I remember most about this book and that’s because that was the most exciting parts. I remember more about Alejandro and Lexi – but I cannot remember much about Cruz and Sienna, except they argue a lot and he wants to get this sister back. That’s not what I was wanting to get from this book. People who have not read El Diablo, will have a lot of questions on things because he is in this book way too much for it to be a standalone.

I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting. I didn’t want it to end but I also couldn’t read it fast it enough!!
Chance is the son of Jack F&%#in’ Carter from The Perfect Game series. Even if you never read the series (you will want to after you read this book), you will fall in love with Chance. Chance has put off one math course most of his college career because it’s not his strong suit but he needs to pass this class in order to play baseball.
Enter Danika – she is the only tutor on their college campus that has the ability to help Chance pass this class. However, after a bad incident involving another athlete the previous year, Danika wants nothing to do with athletes. She is feisty, holds nothing back and has no problem holding her own in any situation.

Jenn writes a very angsty, raw, honest and real story. The interactions amongst all the characters, main and secondary, is very authentic. I loved how real these characters came across. They were honest in their feelings, accepted where they went wrong but were not overly dramatic for the sake of the story. These characters were just so genuine and real. I laughed, applauded and cheered so much throughout this book.
I loved every single bit of this story. There is not one thing I would change – NOTHING!!! I want to blab so much about this book but I don’t want to give anything away. This book is AMAZING!!! And I love how Jenn stealthy builds her next character up within this story without pulling away from the main plot. I cannot wait for Mac’s book and where his story go.

I read the first book in this series and then somehow missed the next two but I could not miss out on this one. The Truest Thing is Emery and Jack’s story and Samantha delivered another heartfelt novel that will have her readers falling in love with love.
The Truest Thing can easily be read as a standalone. I missed the two middle books and had no issues whatsoever reading this one. This story focuses on Emery and Jack – both as individuals and as two people trying to navigate something more.
Emery owns a coffee shop on Hartwell’s boardwalk. She is shy and quite reserved. She does not trust easily. As the story progresses, readers learn more and more about Emery and her background and how she came to Hartwell.
Jack is a Devlin and when you read the book, you will understand why this is important. Jack has his secrets and makes some choices that truly has everyone scratching their head.
I won’t get into the details of this book. Samantha does such an amazing job of trickling bits and pieces out about Emery and Jack. I love how she weaves everything together. It is very intricate story with so many pieces that fit into their own special spot. I absolutely loved how this story plays out. Sam leaves no stone unturned.
This story is why I love reading contemporary romance. The Truest Thing is has everything I love in a story – amazing plot, a story mixed with drama, suspense and an undeniably stunning characters that readers will enjoy getting to know.
