Envy is the fourth book in The Elite Seven series and is definitely more on what I expected from these books, but it lacked in some areas for me.

Envy it felt a tad rushed and didn’t really elude to anything new going on. We did some get “behind the scenes” of things that had happened in previous books but there was nothing truly new that developed til near the end. However, this book is the only one that truly delves into the actual sin, envy.

Sebastian (Envy) definitely isn’t a likeable character. He’s got his issues and how he handles them isn’t good. Sebastian is truly envious of others and the love they find, especially his elite brothers. And how he deals with his envious thoughts is extremely scary. He has very deep rooted issues and has no control over them.

While we didn’t learn anything new in the plot of the overall story, Envy definitely ranks higher on the scales of what I had anticipated in this series and made for a much suspenseful read. There is little to no romance in this book, which for me, actually works. When you are writing about the seven deadly sins, romance really doesn’t come to mind.

Overall, it was decent read. I did find myself skimming this one because there wasn’t a lot of depth or plot going on, I was intrigued as how to Sebastian played a role in everything. I did expect him to play a bigger role overall (and he may still with certain things that happened) but I expected this one to bit a more developed than what we got.

We shall see in the coming books what happens next……

The predecessors of each group of seven choose people who fit the sin that will mold them into who they are needed to be in the future—what America needs them to be. This is after a detailed study of many potential candidates. The university’s acting dean behaves as a liaison for the society bringing the college applicants to the predecessors so that the selection may begin. The society members who are going out will bring forth a candidate that the society votes on and approves.

After they are chosen, the initiates are given a token and an invitation to initiation. The initiation will be a test to their character and ability to do what’s right for the betterment of the society. Once the initiates pass their test, they are discreetly branded with the mark of the society and are groomed through challenges during the course of their elite education to breed them into the influential people they were meant to be.

Once in The Elite Seven, there is no getting out. The money and power are their rewards. Should they choose to stray or break the rules, the society strips them of everything. Anything they once had will be removed. Opportunities will never arise. They will no longer have the support of the society. To this day, there have been no known occurrences of anyone from the society having to be banished. This elite group of people is what every young man and woman aspire to be a part of. While the group is a secret society, they are whispered about amongst the privileged folks in the country. Anyone who is anyone knows of the group and secretly hopes it’s their son or daughter who is selected, for good fortune is showered on the family for decades to come.

I absolutely loved the first book in this duet, Depraved. While I still thoroughly enjoyed Delivered, I felt that there were a few things that hurt this book a bit for me.

JD is truly a character you are either going to love or hate. He’s very conflicting character, but that’s due to the situation he’s in, a situation he somewhat put himself in but also a situation he couldn’t avoid either.

Gabrielle still has her backbone in place, but there are times I think it gets a little weak when it comes to JD. There is no denying the chemistry between these two. And I think that’s what weakens Gabrielle when it comes to JD and his faults.

This book is filled with a lot of suspense and moves at a great pace. While I felt there were more sex scenes than needed for this book, the suspense helped drive this book. The characters were amazing, even you hate them and their actions. There are some things that readers will not care (I find myself rolling my eyes at things) but for me, it didn’t take away from the overall aspect of the book.

Overall, the book flows very well and entertained. While I felt the ending was rushed compared to how everything else played out, I know many readers will enjoy. Definitely a duet I would recommend and I will be looking into more books by this author as these are the first two books I have read by her.

Anyone who knows me or follows my reviews, knows that I love Nicole Williams and her writing. And to give her books anything less than 4 stars is truly hard. 3 stars are still books that I feel are good reads and would recommend, but they just didn’t meet certain criteria for me.

Glass Castle Prince is very sweet and endearing read. I love the synopsis but somewhere along the lines, the plot itself just wasn’t there for me. Everything just seemed too bland and nothing truly exciting ever came to be. And I will be honest, I don’t think this it up to par with Nicole’s typical writing.

Charlotte and Edward were decent characters, but nothing truly stood out to make them unforgettable. The secondary characters, Edwards friends and Charlotte’s bestie were absolutely hilarious and truly kept this story entertaining. While Charlotte and Edward weren’t my favorites, they still were enjoyable to read.

As I said, this story was sweet. Everything just sort of fell in place. I can’t say that there were even twists into this story as everything seemed predictable but still made for an endearing read. Nothing was bad about this story, just wasn’t Nicole’s best. While this story may not been one to arouse any interest from me; it’s a very light and easy read that most will enjoy.

Sports Romance – sign me up. RVD is the author – I am all over it!!!

I am a HUGE fan of RVD’s so it’s really rare that any of her books don’t wow me. But there is always that chance and sadly this was one. Now, don’t get me wrong, I still absolutely enjoyed it, just not as much as her other reads.

Mackenzie is an heiress to her father’s winery – a place she has worked her whole love and absolutely loves. It’s also the same place that her ex-fiancé works at. She hasn’t been able to move on with her life when she’s constantly seeing him so she knows she needs to take hold of her life and start fresh. Enter trip of a lifetime, but going solo.

MacKenzie meets Slade, however they don’t give each other their real names. But they also don’t plan on more than this trip either. Mack becomes a stronger person due to this trip and well Slade becomes a dick. Go figure.

RVD does write a very enticing story and I love that Mack never gives up on Slade. However, she’s not a pushover either. She truly puts him in his place but it also makes him more aware of how he’s acting towards others. You can easily sense the chemistry between them but Mack is very protected of her heart and is not ready for it be trampled upon again.

Overall, it’s an enjoyable read. There was one huge part that I could have done without, which for me is what brought it down from 5 stars to 4 stars (she’s a 30yr old virgin). I am over that and truly don’t buy it, but others still enjoy it. Outside of that, I though the characters were amazing and even the secondary characters were a perfect blend into story.

I am looing forward to more future stories within in this series.

Carrie is one my go-to authors for sweet, wholesome romances and she never lets me down.

Fleeting is the perfect start to her newest series and I love every bit of it.

The blurb gives you all that you need to know, so there is no point in me re-hashing that. And I won’t give you any new details either.

Carrie sets the tone and plot perfectly for this series with this book. We meet each of the brothers and get a little bit of background on each of them to know what we can expect in coming books, but it doesn’t pull away from Keaton and Presley’s story.

I love the small town vibe she sets up and all the nuances that go on in small towns. Along with the brothers, the secondary characters add the perfect touch to this series and I cannot wait to read more about them all.

Carrie nailed this book perfectly and set off the rest of the series the right way!!

My Review:

After enjoying this author’s previous writing as Michele Gorman, and after seeing this cover and reading the synopsis, I was so eager to dive into this book. I read it while on vacation and finished it on the flight home. I’m sure anyone who walked up and down the aisle during that flight thought I was a crazy person because I went from smiling, to crying, to laughing, to more crying, and finally let out a happy contented sigh when I finished. It truly read like a rom-com movie and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

While there were a few different story lines happening at the same time the one I became most invested in was Scarlett and Rufus’. Man, on man, these two! The ups and downs were fantastic, emotional, relatable, real life messes any relationship is vulnerable of going through. My heart hurt for them as I read their story and I was cheering them on as they went through a super rough patch. You know I don’t ruin endings with spoilers but I will say their story ended beautifully (alas the happy contented sigh) and I could not have been happier.

Overall this was a great book with lots of endearing characters I’d love to see more of in the future. If you’re looking for a story that reads as though you’re watching a fan rom-com, this is a book for you!

WOW!! This was a great ending for this trilogy!! Meghan truly knows how to write this enigmatic characters in her trilogies that keep us glued to the pages til the very end.

Heart of the Devil is the conclusion to Jericho and Indy’s story and it is just as exciting as the other two books. We get all the answers we had but not without some added twists and shocks thrown our way still. I will just tell you that you may think you figured everything out, but I have no doubt you will be so off base, your jaw will drop – cause mine did. It is a fast read or maybe it felt that way because I devoured this book so quickly – I loved every bit of it.

As much as I wanted to finish this trilogy, I also didn’t want it to end. I fell in love with these characters and their lifestyles. Indy is definitely one of my more favorite heroines that Meghan has written. Jericho (Forge) – as with all of Meghan’s alpha men, slowly wormed his way into my heart. And the secondary characters were a perfect blend to bring it all together.

Meghan really knows how to deliver her trilogies without any of the books losing their momentum. I have no idea how she does it but I love it. Her story lines are always well developed and thought out. And her characters are also well developed and help make the story come alive. Everything is fast-paced and action packed which is what I love. There are no moments to catch your breath. Like this series – you live the book in the fast lane.

THIS is what I have been waiting for in this series!! Claire definitely took this series to the next level.

Wrath is the third book The Elite Seven series. While each book is about one particular brother, there is an underlying plot playing out in every book so it is best to read them all in order. And this book truly needs to be before reading the next book, which is Envy.

Wrath is my favorite book so far in this series. I really enjoyed getting to know who Wrath (Samuel) is and his past. Claire does a great job of fleshing out the details and making it all flow perfectly from the first two books into the next one along with adding new twists to the main plot.

Wrath felt much more mature than the previous two books, which for me, is a huge plus. I was beginning to wonder if these were just romantic stories with a small storyline of suspense about each sin. But Claire definitely proved that as each sin is unraveled, there is more depth to the story that first realized.

I am definitely looking forward to Envy as this is the first time where I truly sense how each book is pieced together in a certain way.

Meghan Quinn has done it again!! But for anyone who has read her work – this should come as no surprise. Every book Meghan writes is amazing!!

Diary of a Bad Boy was so much more than I was expecting. Roark and Sutton meet while they’re both out (separately) getting hot dogs and things don’t go so smooth and their phones are swamped accidentally. Sounds familiar but Meghan has this play out beautifully.

Roark is an alpha Irishman to the core – he loves his booze, women and his job. However, he’s only committed to two of those things – booze and his job. He’s got the temper and tendencies of an Irishman and doesn’t apologize for it.

Sutton is a sweet southern woman who may come across as shy and naïve but she’s quite strong and holds her ground. And when she and Roark realize they have each others’ phones, she’s determined to get hers back, no matter the cost.

Sutton and Roark couldn’t be any more different if they tried, but they push one another in so many ways. I love that Sutton doesn’t back down from Roark and his moody ways. And I love that Roark pushes Sutton out of her comfort zones and makes her realize her true strengths. But what I love most is that all this happen so naturally without the one realizing it.

Meghan plays this story out beautifully. Everything just falls in place naturally; nothing is rushed and the interactions are quite entertaining. While you may be able to figure out certain things may happen, it’s the entire story and how things happen that make this whole book so amazing.

Rock-Star Romance – you know I am definitely reading. Siobhan Davis writing said rock-star romance, no questions asked, no blurb needed – I am all in!!

Only Ever You is so much more than rock-star romance you are expecting. Yes. we have the arrogant, asshole rock-star singer who left behind his one true love. But their story is so much more than that.

Siobhan is an author who holds nothing back in her writing. She gives you an amazing story line with characters that you empathize with. But it’s the heavy topics that she adds into her stories that make them stand out. And she doesn’t just touch in the topic, she dives in deep.

Zeta and Ryder meet when they are teens and go their separate ways when they become adults. While there is an 8 year gap between part 1 and part 2, Siobhan does a great job of keeping the story moving and everything flows perfectly. While there are parts that I was not thrilled with, nothing truly pulled me away from staying immersed in this story and these characters.

Overall, I enjoyed this book so much. As you can see, I purposely made no mention of anything that happens in this book. Zeta and Ryder’s story is one you have to go into with an open mind. While the blurb may seem like just another rock-star romance, I can assure you, it is not.

Siobhan’s writing is very unique and her story-telling is one of a kind. Only Ever You showcases why she has quickly become one of my favorite authors to read and why her writing stands out from the rest.

Instead, I cashed that shit in before he could and I got airline tickets and a hotel for down the line.

“I appreciate that, I really do, but I’m already freaking behind because of him.” I release a groan that almost sounds like a cry. “I’m never going to have kids now and I can forget my career goals!I need to find a new job. My life list requires that I don’t have a lot of time to lose.”

I’ve been a workaholic my entire life, I can’t imagine having an extended time off.

“Oh here we fucking go,” Ashton mutters while rolling her eyes.

“What?”

“The life list. Number one, be married and have the perfect life. Number two, stab Gretchen in the eye with her stupid list. Number three, burn the list and remind Gretchen that living isn’t a science.”

“Ash.” Catherine tries to mollify her. “You and I think the list is…extreme, but Gretchen likes it.”

“Yes. I do. I need lists to keep things in order. Besides, my mother always said a dream isn’t a plan until it’s written down.”

There’s nothing wrong with keeping things in order. I feel like having a life list has ensured that most of my plans, though not all, have worked out the way they should.

Sure, all the things that I believed I could check off on my list have now gone to shit, but at one point, they almost came true.

“Oh God!” I say with tears in my eyes.

“What?” Catherine rushes over. “Are you okay?”

I look at my best friend and shake my head. “He ruined everything! My entire life list is now gone! None of it is even possible. There’s no way I’ll even have kid number one by the time number two was due!”

I had a great job, that’s gone. I was getting married, that’s not happening. I was in my dream condo, which I can’t afford to keep now even if I did pull the sale. Everything all because of stupid Harold.

“Then it’s time for a new list.” Cat takes my hand. “Life is about adapting and now it’s time to do that.”

“I hate him.”

“As you should,” she agrees.

Ashton sighs. “Body parts in a box anyone?”

I let out a giggle and wipe the tears. I have the best friends. Catherine cancelled her trip back to California to see me through this. Ashton called out of work, and Jackson has…well, offered his services. I know it all feels so bleak right now, but with them on my side, I’ll be okay.

“My offer still stands to break his kneecaps,” Jackson attempts again.

“Now that I may change my mind about.”

Evermore is my first book by Corinne Michaels. Yea, yea – I know, I am missing out on some great books!!! I truly get that after reading this one.

Evermore is novella in the 1,001 Dark Nights series that showcases different authors series and allows for newbies to discover the series and allows existing fans to fall in love all over again.

Benjamin and Gretchen whom I could tell have the quite the history. Their story has the perfect balance of emotions from sweet to testy to sexy. LOL I enjoyed how these two were pushed and tested to see how strong their connection really is.

Corinne does an amazing job of giving us some depth to this story and these characters that we normally don’t get in a novella because they are so short but she does an amazing job of it. It also shows her strength as a writer and how she was able to make an “instalove” seem so much more with her writing.

I absolutely loved these two characters. I also really liked seeing the other characters pop in, which made me want to read about their stories in this series. I am truly intrigued by them all and hope that I get the chance down the line to read those books.

Evermore is a perfect novella to read for both new and existing fans of Corinne’s.
