He’s the arrogant Manhattan

negotiations.
I’m the competing broker who stupidly moved across the hall
from his office.

From day one, I’ve been his sworn enemy. Okay, so I might have accidentally stolen one of his clients. Well, is it stealing if the client comes to me?

Even our vicious banter and loathing gazes can’t hide the chemistry between us. Who can blame me? He has enough charisma to make every hot-blooded woman in the city melt with a single word.

Just when I think a mutual respect could be born between us, the biggest developer in the city offers us an opportunity that pits us against each other.

Time to forget Carmelo Mancini’s dreamy eyes and tight abs.

Release Day Blitz & Review…Flutter by Carrie Aarons

Title: Flutter

Author: Carrie Aarons

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: July 11, 2019

𝐅𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 (𝐍𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞):

He can’t stand her, and best believe, the feeling is mutual.
Her life is the complete opposite of what he desires.
So, why can’t they keep their hands off each other?

Forrest Nash is a smug know-it-all. With his brains, ridiculous good looks and penchant for disobeying the laws of both the police and the dark web, Fawn Hill’s resident genius is cockier than any man Penelope Briggs has ever encountered. It doesn’t help that their six-year age difference makes him completely ineligible in her eyes. Add in the fact that he doesn’t want marriage or babies, and that should eliminate him from the dating pool forever. But it doesn’t mean she can’t sleep with him. Once. Or twice. Or ten times. Against all logic, though, Forrest seems to be sneaking into her heart at the same time he’s sneaking into her bed.

Penelope Briggs is one bossy, obnoxious woman. With three young children, a calendar full of school drop-offs and sports, and enough emotional baggage to fill an airplane, this widow is definitely not what Forrest Nash is looking for. And yet, he can’t get enough of the maddening bombshell. But as their hook-ups become a constant, so does his involvement in Penelope’s life. The things he swore he never wanted, love and kids, seem to be the only things on his mind. And when an attack from his part of the cyber world threatens her safety, he’ll have to admit his feelings for the woman he’d do anything to protect.

What started as a convenient friends-with-benefits situation is quickly growing wings. Even if both parties are trying hard to ignore the flutter.

Flutter is available for a special release day price of $2.99! The book will increase to $3.99 the day after release.

Flutter is the third book in The Nash Brothers series and the one I have been looking forward to the most.

Forrest is the computer nerd brother and twin of Fletcher (37 seconds older). He’s always felt like the odd one out and has kept to himself since no-one understands how his brainiac mind works. He’s always been the one trying to hack into companies and gov’t to find their weaknesses until he got caught. Instead of being sent to jail, they chose to his skills for good and now he finds himself on the other side of the law.

Penelope has been a widower for the last few years after her husband passed away while defending the country. His death is something that she has struggled with over the years; she’s always been pretty much a single mom even when he was alive, just serving overseas. So it wasn’t a huge adjustment for her to raise their three boys alone, but it was accepting that he was never coming home that took longer.

Forrest always crushed on Penelope when they were younger but she never saw him as more than annoying. Now that she is ready to move forward in her life, Forrest decides that since he isn’t looking for anything permanent and Penelope wants to keep things between them, friends with benefits is the best option for them. Until they both feel themselves wanting more, but never admit it to the other.

This is my favorite in the series so far. I love the banter between Penelope and Forrest and that just adds to the whole sexual vibe between them. As Forrest and Penelope figure out what’s going on between them, Forrest is still working cases for the police and the one they put him on recently is the toughest case yet for him. I love the added mystery with this story and that just adds another layer in this book.

Carrie definitely nailed this book perfectly. I loved how everything played out and how naturally and organically things moves for Penelope and Forrest. I can’t wait to read the final book!

The Chosen One is the 4th book in Siobhan’s Alinthia series and must be read after books 1 thru 3.

Siobhan has definitely made me a fan of two genres that I did not read til starting this series last year – reverse harem and sci-fi and she has combined both of those into this series.

The previous three books have definitely had the perfect blend of the romance, getting to know each of the characters along with the sci-fi aspect and Alinthia/Tori’s purpose, to destroy General Arantu and save Earth. This book definitely delved more into the relationships between Alinthia and her four protectors and strengthening that bond.

I have to say, when I noticed this leaning more towards the romance aspect and not so much the sci-fi aspect, I thought I would be slightly let down. But not surprisingly, Siobhan was able to make the relationships between each of her four protectors just as enticing as the sic-fi part. But I think part of that driving force is that things aren’t all rainbows and unicorns with one of her protectors. And the bond between all four of her protectors is a key element in saving Earth.

Siobhan truly knows how to deliver each piece of this very enticing story perfectly. I love that she keeps her readers engrossed in every aspect of this story. The characters are very well written and intricate to the storyline – everything about them just adds another element to the story.

I cannot wait to see what happens in the final installment in this series.

The Accidental Girlfriend by Emma Hart….Excerpt & Review

TAGlive2

The Accidental Girlfriend, an all-new hilarious romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Emma Hart is available now!

THE ACCIDENTAL GIRLFRIEND - DRAFT1 (1)

Top Tip: Don’t put out an online ad offering your services as a fake date. Someone will take you up on it.

And it won’t just be for one night.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how I ended up being Mason Jackson’s fake girlfriend.

He didn’t even want me to be. No—his sister was solely responsible for me being his date for his ten-year high school reunion.

Now, she’s responsible for telling his parents our relationship is real.

We have no choice. We have to act like this isn’t all a mistake, like it’s not all fake, like we’re totally, completely, utterly, head-over-heels in love with each other.

Simple, right?

Wrong.

Excerpt:

“I’ve seen you eat nothing but junk. Are you one of those irritating people who can eat what they want and put on no weight?”

“Okay, first.” I held up one finger. “You look like you could walk into the cast of the Avengers, so don’t come at me with that. Also, I run. Every day. And I don’t always eat junk.”

“You run?” His eyebrows shot up.

“I don’t know if I should be insulted or not.”

“No, I just—you don’t look like a runner.”

“And you don’t look like Chris Hemsworth, but here you are on my sofa looking like a dark-haired Norse god,” I shot back. “What’s your point?”

He held up his hands, fighting another laugh, one that made his eyes shine. “Hey, I have a physical job. I rarely get to the gym, but I’m always moving.”

“Have you ever worked behind a bar? I’m not exactly running a call center back there. It never stops sometimes.”

“Do I look like I mix cocktails?”

Doing what he’d done just minutes before, I took a long, hard look at him, from head to toe.

It was a mistake.

If I were a sloth, I wouldn’t just climb him like a tree; I’d hang off him for a nap, too.

Lord, he was hot.

Focus, Lauren.

“No,” I said. “You look like the lone wolf who waits for the cocktail-drinking girls to accidentally spill their drinks on your shoes.” I glanced at the time. “Speaking of, I have to go and make those cocktails.”

Mason grinned. “You want me to come and get hit on by drunk girls?”

“As someone who has no say in your life whatsoever, I don’t care what you do.” I stood up and looked at him over my shoulder. “As your fake girlfriend, I’m a bit of a tiger, so I wouldn’t.”

“I know.” He snorted, following me to the front door with his laptop tucked under his arm. “I’ve seen you play the possessive girlfriend. If this weren’t all fake, I would have been a little turned on.”

I locked the front door and tossed my hair over my shoulder. “Please. You were totally turned on.”

He said nothing as we headed for the stairs.

“You can say something. That was a joke.” I glanced at him, heat rushing to my cheeks.

His lips pulled into a smirk, eyes flashing. “I reserve the right to not respond.”

This was a funny and sweet romance from Emma Hart.

Something that I have to learn and actually enjoy from Emma Hart is that her romance stories are very easy, light and not full of drama or angst. I find her stories refreshing and very easy to read.

I am beginning to see more and more of the “fake date” trope pop up but don’t think I could see myself reading too many of these unless they fall into the romantic comedy genre.

Mason and Lauren were very adorable. They had the immediate attraction to one another but knew nothing more would come of their fake-date and even the follow up fake relationship.

I enjoyed all the interactions and dialogue amongst all the characters. It definitely helped keep the story light and easy.

Overall, I did enjoy this story. It was an easy read, funny with characters that felt authentic. So why not the a 5 star rating then?? While I enjoyed this book, it’s a book that I won’t remember the characters or plot 6 months down the line without reading the blurb again. Again – it wasn’t a terrible book, just not one what makes me scream “YES, I remember so much about that book.” So yea – the book was right down the middle perfect for me.

Release Day Blitz

Title: Reel Love

Author: Julie A Richman

Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance

Release Date: June 26th, 2019

 photo Newest ReelLove_eBook_LowRes_revised_zpsfme9ztyd.jpg

Synopsis:

Is this Reel Love or Real Love?

Hollywood

The moment I laid eyes on Finn Parker’s headshot, I knew that if this guy could act, I wanted him for the hero role in the film being made from my book, Fleeing an August Moon.

The tall, blond, and ruggedly handsome actor looked exactly like the picture I’d seen in my head the entire time I was writing the book.

The studio, however, had different thoughts on a leading man.

Box Office crusher, Maverick Dailey, made it clear that he wanted the role. The producers, studio, and everyone involved were thrilled to score such a celebrity. Well, everyone except me.

And it’s my vote that counts since, according to my contract I get final say on casting. Maverick is amazing, yet I’m just not sure…

It certainly didn’t help that Finn Parker and I seemed destined to cross paths. We ran into each other all over Hollywood. And the more time we spent together, the more the sparks between us flew. We had an intense chemistry, something I’d only ever read about in books like mine.

Which made me wonder, was I really falling for Finn or just living out a fantasy with a red-blooded, live version of my hot hero character?

It’s easy to confuse fiction for reality in Hollywood. Everything is not as it seems in this town.

Not to mention, Finn’s life would forever change if he landed the role. Which made me question how good of an actor he really was? Was he interested in me, or the role I had the power to give him?

Is this Real Love or just Reel Love?

 photo ReelLove_Teaser3_zpskatk1kr7.jpg

Reel Love is Julie Richman’s newest contemporary romance release.

I was hooked by the synopsis of this book – a romance book being turned into a movie. It’s as though real life is being written into a book.

Frankie has the final say in who is casted for her book, something that is not the norm in Hollywood. Finn wants to land the role since it is being herald as the next box office smash. But to what lengths is Finn willing to go? And will Frankie mix up who she sees in her head as her Griffin and not the one who truly fits the role?

Julie does a great job of bringing life to her characters and their stories. Finn and Frankie are both placed into a positions that never anticipated and they are both uncertain on how to navigate them. I love that they both have internal debates over their decisions, what they see and feel; it makes them all the more real to readers.

Frankie was breath of fresh air for Finn. He’s so used to the Hollywood type and everyone out for themselves, Frankie showed him how things used to be before he got caught up in the Hollywood scene. She brought out what he was hiding from everyone. I enjoyed watching Finn’s journey of finding himself again but I do wish we would have gotten more with his father and not just a rushed version.

Reel Love is told from both Finn and Frankie’s POVs so it really helps to see what they are both thinking and going through. It helps add another level to the story. While I enjoyed watching things play out between the two of them, I have to admit it hard for me to decipher between lust and love with them. They physical attraction was obvious, but anything beyond that was hard to believe. I felt more from Frankie than I did from Finn so it was hard to understand his true feelings (again maybe more fleshed out with this reuniting with his father might have helped this too).

Overall, this book had all the elements that we love about Julie’s books – characters that are honest and real, a storyline that is easy to love. I loved the ending and I really hope that we get a book about Maverick.

Excerpt:

Frankie

Prologue

In Flight…

Holy crap, he’s perfect.

Not just like he’d be good for the role perfect, but like he stepped out of my head and onto my computer screen, perfect.

I can’t believe he even exists. Well, in real life, anyway.

This is him. The guy I’ve been seeing in my head for over three years now. But with a picture in front of me, it crystalizes all the details in such sharp focus, for the very first time. It’s like a layer of gauze was removed from the front of the lens of my mind’s eye, and here he is. I am looking at the face of the hero in my biggest-selling, and let’s face it, my only truly bestselling book.

Who is this man? I need to know more. I need to know everything. Now.

Finn Parker.

Good name. Obviously fake, but, nonetheless, good.

Those eyes. They are Griffin’s eyes. I am finally staring into his clear blue eyes, studying the deep blue rings edging his irises, looking exactly like what I’d described the very first time Briela gazed up at him when they were just kids. Sky blue meeting a horizon line containing the ocean’s power and depth was how I described them when the two meet again as adults. I have written many pages about these eyes.

Finn Parker, your eyes are killing me. Like I’m afraid to breathe, killing me.

A slight quiver in my hands radiates to my now-twitching fingertips as they hang, as if in suspended animation, just above the keyboard, choking, fearful that if I don’t poke the keys with just the right finesse, he will disappear and be gone — forever. And I’m not ready to lose this flesh and blood version of the man who has invaded my thoughts for so long.

And what if I don’t find him again? A moment of panic ensues as if I’m about to lose my raison d’être. Or maybe just lose my shit. Or my mind.

What the hell is wrong with me?

His freaking picture and bio are in an email sent to me by the studio’s casting department. He is not disappearing into thin air, never to be found again.

Get ahold of yourself, woman.

Blurb:

Have you heard the rumor around campus about the locker room?

If you haven’t, let me enlighten you: Legend has it if you bring a girl into the sacred after-game domain of the baseball locker room, it will end with a walk down the aisle. One rowdy and naked encounter against the lockers with the girl of your dreams will make her your wife.

Translation: baseball players are stupidly superstitious and believe the locker room has magical powers.

But not all baseball players are superstitious, me included.

So when the girl I’ve fallen for brushes me off, I start to question if I need to switch my way of thinking. Maybe it’s time I finally hand out a coveted invitation to the locker room.

The only question is, will she accept?

TheLockerRoom_teaser-1-2[1]

Excerpt:

This map is useless.

Easy to read, my ass. I need a magnifying glass to make out any of the color-coded buildings on this thing and unfortunately, I left my magnifying glass in my other skirt. That was sarcasm, if you didn’t catch it.

Standing next to a wonky-looking tree, I try to act as casual as possible—hip popped out, interested glances, the usual—as I hide a school map beneath the pages of Pride and Prejudice , while off-handedly looking for the MacMillan building. But the wind—though subtle—isn’t making things easy.

Recently transferred from Cal State, Fullerton, I’m attempting to avoid making a fool of myself on the first day of fall classes at my new school, Brentwood University.

Unfortunately, I’m way out of my element.

For one, I know nothing about this school other than they have the best library sciences program in the country. Making the transfer a no-brainer for me the minute I realized I wanted to be a librarian. I dabbled in business at Cal State, but who was I kidding? I had no right trying to figure out micro-and macroeconomics.

A California girl through and through, Illinois is nothing like the palm trees and beaches I’ve grown up with. Don’t get me wrong, there are trees here, huge, plush, green trees everywhere, the kind of trees Bob Ross made dance on his canvas. But the smog . . . I have no idea where that is. Breathing fresh air almost feels wrong. And apparently pizza is a big deal here. I’ve heard at least three separate arguments since I’ve moved about which pizza in town is best. Let’s all be friends and be grateful there is good pizza here.

And even though this is a “small” school town outside Chicago, it’s larger than life with boisterous personalities and ivy-covered buildings that cause me to believe I’m walking on the hallowed grounds where the prosperous were educated.

Plus, I had to buy leggings for all my skirts, because the temperature doesn’t call for bare legs out here.

The wind picks up again, lifting my skirt and map at the same time. Not wanting to be known as the resident flasher on campus, I save the skirt—because even though I have leggings, I chose not to wear them today—and tamp it back down on my legs as the map lifts from my book, floats into the air, twirling and swirling only to smack a passing guy right in the face.

Whap .

“What the—?” He startles and I jump into action.

“I’m so sorry,” I say, scrambling to hold my skirt down while clutching my parted book at my chest.

The map is slowly peeled away and a pair of beautiful light blue eyes peek past the paper first, followed by the sharpest jawline I’ve ever seen, defined and tense. Light scruff matches his dirty-blond hair that is swept to the left and cut short on the sides. Dressed in a green Brentwood baseball sweatshirt and wearing a jaw-dropping smile, he chuckles and hands me the map while eyeing me up and down.

Why is he so familiar?

Those eyes.

“Not a problem, but you could have asked for help if you were lost. Slapping me with a map is an aggressive tactic, effective, but aggressive.”

That voice, that smirk. I know it from somewhere.

Feeling a light blush creep up my cheeks, I say, “Not used to the wind.”

He nods and thumbs behind him. “Lake Michigan. It’s a bitch in the winter.” He studies me for a second and then nods at my map. “Where you headed? I can help.” There is the smallest southern drawl in his voice, nothing strong, but enough to tell me he’s not from Illinois.

I know that voice. I remember specifically thinking it was hot.

Tamping down my map and folding it in my book that I snap shut quickly, I say, “I promised I’d figure this all out on my own, but looks like I might need a little help after all.”

“Don’t blame yourself; this campus is a maze with no rhyme or reason. I was lost my entire first semester. Can’t tell you how many times I was late to class.”

“That’s reassuring.”

He tilts his head to the side and gives me a small once-over. “I know you.” I don’t say anything and just as his eyes land on my chest, a smile creeps over his face, a light bulb lighting in his head. “You’re the girl who helped me find my room on Saturday.”

Oh.

Shit.

It’s the yellow-door baseball guy.

He leans forward, hands stuffed in his pockets and says, “I never forget a good pair of tits.”

As if I wasn’t blushing enough already.

I absolutely loved this book, til I got to the end and felt a tad let down.

Meghan is an author that I will always read whatever she puts out. I love her writing style and how she is always able to captive me with her characters and their stories.

The Locker Room is sports romance with Meghan’s signature humour added in. I loved so much of this book; the story, the characters but then around 75-80%, I felt like things weren’t as fleshed out as the rest of the book.

I loved how Emory and Knox met, their interactions, them both showing what they are willing to do for the other, make each other a priority. Then the crash and burn happens I totally understand it and I have no issues with the separation. It’s what happens afterwards that I was let down.

I wanted Knox and Emory to show how they were going to strengthen their love, build on what they had and to match the beautiful story that they had before all that drama. I just felt that this part was too rushed and didn’t give me what we had in the beginning. It all came together too quickly for me.

Overall, I did love this story and the characters. I love Meghan’s writing and how she is able to blend the humor and never make it too over the top. Knox and Emory are very relatable which truly helps make the story believable. I just wish we would have gotten more after the crash to help show the beauty in their love.

Nine lightly scrapes his nails over my bare arms before pressing them into my skin. I gasp at the slight bite of pain. “No, the pretty bird swoops down from nowhere and sinks her sharp talons into the cat, marking him for life.”

There’s no sarcasm in his voice. I don’t know how to begin to process what it is he’s saying. It takes all of my concentration to get out my next few words.

“And…and then what?”

Nine picks me up off the floor in one quick motion, flipping me back onto the bed. He crawls over my body, hovering above me, pinning my wrists to the mattress. He grazes his teeth over the sensitive spot behind my ear. He lowers his voice to a deliciously deep rumble that has me vibrating with his every word.

“And then he eats her.”

N9ne is Kevin Clearwater’s book and is a standalone book in the King series. It can easily be read as a standalone but previous characters are mentioned knowing who they are does make the book more enjoyable.

N9ne is definitely the least dark book in this series and I think that has everything to do with who Kevin is. Yes, his past is ugly and what he endured definitely drove him to become the man is. Don’t get me wrong, there are some dark elements in this book, but they are not nearly like the others.

But what made me really enjoy this book was the journey – both Nine and Lenny’s. I would love to go into details, but as always, you have to read to see for yourself. N9ne is told in both POVs so we as the reader can easily understand these characters and their actions.

Frazier does what she does best – keeps the adrenaline and action/suspense alive in her books but also makes you laugh with the characters interactions. The one thing that I wish we had more of was the character development. I felt there were a few things that could have been fleshed out more and that instead of being told about certain aspects (Lenny’s anxiety), it was shown to us to make it all the more real.

Overall, Frazier delivers another great book in this series. I love that we get to see Preppy, King, Bear and others from Logan Beach and help bring it all full circle again.

Written With You by Aly Martinez….Review

WWY - BT banner.jpg

“Aly Martinez is one of the best in the business. You have to read her books.” –Meghan March, New York Times Bestselling Author

Written With You, the emotional and highly anticipated conclusion to The Regret Duet from USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez, is available now!

WW You FOR WEB.jpg

When I was fifteen, a single bullet changed my life. I spent the next decade trying to outrun the devastation of my past, building an empire that would shield me from whatever life could throw at me.

But all the money in the world couldn’t help me when I found a screaming newborn abandoned on my doorstep.

I’d never wanted to be a father. Passing the sludge that ran through my veins down to an innocent child seemed like a tragedy. But there she was—pink cheeks, red hair, and mine.

Somehow, against all logic, that little girl became the best thing that ever happened to me. It was impossible to stay lost in the past when I was the only one who could protect her future.

Which is exactly why, when her mother came back four years later, I was ready for battle.

If only I could stop myself from falling in love with her during the war.

Every little girl dreams of the fairytale. The one where the white knight rushes in to save her from the clutches of evil. They fall in love, have babies, and live happily ever after.

By that definition, my life should have been a fairytale too.

When I was eight years old, Caven Hunt saved me from the worst kind of evil to walk the Earth. It didn’t matter that I was a kid. I fell in love with him all the same.

But that was where my fairytale ended.

Years later, a one-night stand during the darkest time imaginable gave us a little girl. It was nothing compared to the pitch black that consumed me when I was forced to leave her with Caven for good.

At the end of every fairytale, the happily-ever-after is the one thing that remains consistent. It wasn’t going to be mine, but there hadn’t been a night that passed where I hadn’t prayed that it would be hers.

I owed Caven my life.

However, I owed that innocent child more.

And that included ripping the heart from my chest and facing her father again.

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her husband and four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and olives. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.

Release Day Blitz & Review…Love Letters to Molly by Devney Perry

Molly Alcott didn’t expect
to open her mailbox one summer morning and find an old letter stuffed between
bills and a supermarket flyer. Penned in familiar handwriting, dated over fifteen years ago, the letter was written to Molly after her first date with the man she’ll never forget.

Week after week, new letters appear. Each marks an event in the history of their epic love affair. Each heals a wound. Each holds the confession of the man who still owns Molly’s heart.

The letters are full of promise, hope and love, but truth be told, Molly wishes she could unread them all.

Because the man who wrote these letters is not the one sending them.

Letters to Molly is my first book by Devney Perry. And I have to say that the hype behind her lived up to what I anticipated.

This is the second book in the Maysen Jar series. I did not read the first book but I think it might have helped to have read it first to get a better understanding of the dynamics between all the characters. I had a general idea as I read and had no issues with the book overall, but I felt like something was missing for me as I read this book.

As I said, I can see why people love Devney and her books. The characters are well developed and the plot was relatable, raw and real. The plot was something that made this book stand out for me. The trials and tribulations that married couples go through and how sometimes we forget or lose ourselves in the marriage; we lose focus of why we took those vows.

Finn and Molly were amazing. I love that they own their faults and try to grow from that, both individually and as a couple. Their struggles to come to grips with things and their emotions were so real, it was impossible not to relate to them.

Overall, I truly enjoyed this book. So why not a five star book?? As I said, there was something missing for me when I was reading this book. Whether it be because I did not feel the dynamics between every character or that it be that while I loved the overall plot, I can easily say that this book doesn’t have that “WOW” factor that I have felt after reading other books that were similar, like this one. Don’t get me wrong, I truly enjoyed reading this one, but it just felt wrong to rate this a five star and not have those same feelings as I had with other books.

I definitely recommend this to anyone. It is honest, real and heartfelt.

Parental Guidance by Avery Flynn…Release Blitz and Review

PG - RB banner.jpg

“A fantastically fun, HOT love story.” – Kendall Ryan, New York Times bestselling author

Parental Guidance, an all-new, sexy and laugh-out-loud romantic comedy from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Avery Flynn, is available now!

ParentalGuidance_1600.jpg

All I want is to play hockey on the Ice Knights, instead, I’m in a viral video for all the wrong reasons and my mom—yes, my mom—has taken over my dating apps. Then, when I think it can’t get any worse, the fates deliver Zara Ambrose, a five-feet-nothing redhead with more freckles than inches and who’d rather be anywhere other than on a date with me.

Now a bet with her friends and my PR nightmare have us both stuck in this go-on-five-dates-with-the-same-person hell situation. But if we band together, we can get the whole thing over with and go on with our lives. It’s perfect! No feelings. No future. No fuc— *ahem* fun. No naked fun.

What could go wrong? Nothing—as long as I remember the rules. Don’t notice the way she looks in a dress. Don’t react when she does that little shivery sigh thing whenever we touch. Don’t think about the fact that she’s never had a toe-curling orgasm that wasn’t self-delivered and just how badly I want to change that.

Five dates—that’s it—and then we go our separate ways. At least, that was the plan.

PG - Teaser 1 AN.jpg

Avery Flynn, girl, you did it again! As an avid reader, I have authors that no matter what, I will buy their book. Why? Well honestly, it is like being in the best kind of relationship. A really great author, or a favorite author, never lets me down, puts a smile on my face, takes away any worries I may have, and simply can bring joy all while reading. This is Avery Flynn for me. I know that when I pick up one of her books, I will devour it.

Parental Guidance is witty and entertaining with sweet romance throughout. Honestly, I couldn’t ask for anything more. Zara and Caleb are “required” to complete five dates for a new app launch and it is an app that parents get to pick your date. They immediately come clean as to why they are forced to go on the dates and come to an agreement to just complete them. It’s a win-win for both. Little do they know they will start to fall for each other. I wish I could say what happens at the end because it is perfect!!!!!

True to Avery’s style, Zara is a feisty, strong, and fun-loving. She is such a delight to read. It is always nice to see a strong woman in stories. Caleb for sure has meet his match with this one. The chemistry the two have pour off the pages and it’s amazing. They completely hold my attention.

Hands down a must read! It is part of a series but you will be able to read it as a standalone and not miss a thing. Well, except wondering about those other Ice Knights.

About Avery

USA Today bestselling romance author Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.

She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staff knew her by name.

Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.

On the Rocks by Kandi Steiner…Review & Excerpt

OTR- BT banner.jpg

On the Rocks by Kandi Steiner

Release Date: June 13, 2019

OTR Cover FINAL.png

On the Rocks, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Kandi Steiner.

Noah Becker is nothing but trouble.

That’s what Mama told me when I was a kid, kicking his pew in church and giggling at the games we’d play. It’s what the town said when his father died and the Becker brothers went wild.

And it’s on repeat in my mind the day I walk into the whiskey distillery where he works to buy a wedding gift for my fiancé.

He’s trouble.

Dirty, sweaty, rude trouble.

No matter how many times I repeat it, I can’t escape Noah in our small Tennessee town. And the more I run into him, the more he infuriates me. Because he sees what no one else does.

He sees me—the real me.

The me I’m not sure I’m allowed to be.

I’m Ruby Grace Barnett, the mayor’s daughter. Soon to be a politician’s wife, just like Mama and Daddy always wanted. Soon to fulfill my family’s legacy, just like I always knew I would.

Until the boy everyone warned me about makes me question everything, like whether the wedding I’m planning is one I even want.

Everyone said Noah Becker was nothing but trouble.

If only I had listened.

A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

Blog Tour.pngExcerpt:

I watched from the sidelines as Betty schooled Noah on the final dance scene from the classic movie — and one of her favorites. Noah, bless his heart, took it in stride. He held her hands, spun her gently, even went under water completely to give Betty some sort of “lift” that made her feel like Jennifer Grey.

That was when her smile was the largest — her eyes closed, face cast upward, arms out in the same iconic flight stance that the actress had done.

If I wasn’t laughing so hard, I might have cried at the sentiment.

After a dozen more run throughs, Betty called for a break, and the two of them swam up to the side of the pool where I sat. Betty took the lemonade I offered her, sipping and hollering across the pool at Mr. Buchanan — who was seated under the umbrellas. Noah rested his arms on the concrete edge, crossing them and resting his head on his forearm before he peered up at me through lashes still dripping with water.

His eyes were an endless blue, the light from the pool reflecting off them like a tropical dream.

“Enjoying your entertainment this afternoon, Miss. Barnett?”

I bit my lip against a smile. “Very much so, Mr. Becker. I never knew you were such a great dancer.”

“Oh, you should see me on the actual dance floor. I can two step and waltz and cha cha with the best of them. And don’t even get me started on what happens when ‘Watermelon Crawl’ comes on.”

“I’m sure it’s quite entertaining,” I mused, still dangling my feet in the cool water.

“When do I get to see your dance moves?”

I barked out a laugh at that. “Um, that would be approximately… never.”

“Never?” he asked, popping his head up off his arms with a look of injustice. “But you’ve seen all my moves, now. I show you mine, you show me yours. Isn’t that the deal?”

“I never agreed to that.”

He narrowed his eyes, running his forefinger and thumb over the stubble on his chin before he nodded. “I see…” Then, a wicked gleam came over those blue steel eyes, and before I could so much as scream, his hand wrapped around my wrist, tugging forward until I was off the ledge and under water.

I popped up instantly, not even able to open my eyes against the chlorine yet before I was swinging at him. “Noah!”

He laughed, catching my advances easily and pulling me into him. I blinked several times, shaking the drops from my eyes before I glared up at him.

“You jerk. Mama’s going to kill me for ruining my hair.”

“Mama will live,” he said, and then one arm wrapped around my waist, the other taking my hand in a leading position. “Now, let’s dance, little lady.”

With one pull of my hand and push of my hip, I spun away from him, reeling back in like a yo-yo and falling in line with his steps before I realized what was happening. Surprise ripped through me, brows shooting up to my hairline as he somehow managed to smoothly twirl me around that metaphorical dance floor even with water hitting us waist deep. My feet felt sluggish, the moves slower than if we were in boots on a hardwood floor, but somehow, that made it even more fun.

I laughed and laughed as he danced me around — until he had the bright idea to flip me like a swing dancer. I emerged from the water beating on his chest again, which just made him laugh harder. And when we were breathless, Noah tugged me to the side of the pool again.

“Thank you for the dance,” he said, both of us still breathing heavily as he wrapped his strong, rugged hands around my waist. For a moment, he just held them there, the rough pad of his thumbs smoothing over my exposed hip bones. My smile fell, chest still heaving as my eyes slipped to his lips.

I didn’t know why I looked at them.

I didn’t know why I couldn’t look away.

Noah swallowed, tightening his grip on my hips before he lowered in the water a little and helped push me back up onto the edge of the pool where I’d been seated before. Once I was steady, he released his hold on me, backing away with a distant look in his eyes that I couldn’t decipher before he tore them from me and looked at Betty, instead.

Kandi Steiner truly knows how to write angsty romance stories. On the Rocks is a sweet yet tension filled romance in a small country town in Tennessee.

Ruby Grace is the mayor’s daughter and has been raised in a politician’s world and expected to become a politician’s wife. She had no issues with this, she just didn’t anticipated in happening at 19 before she was able to fulfill her dreams. But she was still happily in love with her fiancé, and was returning home to plan her wedding that was in 6 weeks.

Noah Becker followed in his father’s footsteps and works for the local distillery. He knows the ins and outs of whiskey and is one the best at his job. When Ruby comes waltzing into his work one day, that annoying little girl that used to sit behind in the church pews has definitely grown up.

Kandi really knows how to build the unsuspecting sexual tension between people and make it come across so real and natural in her writing. I love that this story isn’t just about the blossoming romance between Noah and Ruby but it’s also about watching a young woman grow.

I can’t say enough about this book and what is portrays and how enjoyable it was to read. It is definitely a slow-burn romance, but it is oh-so worth it. While I did wish we could see how things panned out with Ruby’s ex-fiancé and her father, I felt the book ended in a sweet way.

Kandi leaves us knowing that Noah’s brothers will be getting books in the near future and I can easily see her sliding Noah and Ruby Grace in those books for small glimpses of where they are in life. Another fantastic story from Kandi Steiner.

About Kandi:

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer, and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.
