This is a spin-off from her other series but you need no prior knowledge to start this series. Knox Maguire is the so of Owen (Four Years Later) and seems to be following in his dad’s footsteps.

Knox is in his final year of college and not only does he need to stay at the top of his game with football, this is also his toughest year in college with his class-load. So he chooses to focus less on the player lifestyle, choosing to be celibate in hopes it’ll help him focus on his courses. Knox knows that he has his struggles with schooling and finally comes to realization that he is going to need a tutor so he doesn’t fail.

Joanna Sutton is one of the few tutors that works with students who have learning disabilities and excels at helping them overcome their obstacles. Joanna has recently come off of a long-term, long-distance relationship and has no interest in any sort of relationship right now.

I absolutely adored how Joanna and Knox’s whole relationship came to me. It is a slow-burn but so worth it once they decided to take the leap. The chemistry is off the charts with these two and it never slows down once they’re together.

Monica wrote a very sweet, sugary story that has zero drama in it. There isn’t a lot of the typical college drama and I love that she has these characters stay true to themselves and not doing something out of character just to create unnecessary drama. One thing I wanted more of was the family dynamic on Joanna’s side but it does not take away from the overall story.

A great start to a new series!!

Added amongst that suspense is one of the most passionate and extreme slow-burn romances I’ve ever read and that just adds to appeal and intrigue of this book.

When Oliver enters the picture, he adds another layer to this intriguing story and creating a very complicated relationship between him and Lucille.

Ruthless Reign was so unexpected and I loved every bit of this story. I read this book in hours; I could not put it down once I started it. And that ending!!

I am probably one of the very few readers of Jodi’s that did not read the This Man series (please do not come at me – I know, I know!) Anyway – not having any iota aside from the blurbs of each book in that trilogy, I was able to read This Woman easily and without any knowledge of who Jesse was.

And honestly – I actually prefer having read his viewpoint first because it was the quite the explosive read.

Jesse has drowned his regrets and sorrows in booze and women for quite some time. It’s how he copes with this life. And then in walks Ava. She’s everything he wants and desires. And she wants nothing to do with him.

This Woman is completely told from Jesse’s POV and I absolutely loved it. It showed how deep a man is willing to go for the woman he cannot escape and doesn’t want to let go. Jesse’s inner monologue was quite entertaining and a great addition to this story.

Jodi does a phenomenal job of giving Jesse’s character a lot of depth which allows readers to get a more authentic and real sense of the man he is. There was alot of chemistry between the two of them and I loved how Ava kept things on this rollercoaster of emotions by trying not to fall for him.

An explosive read, indeed.

After reading this, it has me wanting to go and read the full series of this Man and reading everything from Ava’s POV now.

“Close your eyes.”
She arches a brow but thankfully does what she’s told—for once.
Ignoring every inch of my protesting body, I limp toward the lake’s edge because something amazing is about to happen. The sky lights up with thousands of lights, and it’s fucking beautiful.
Cupping my hands gently, I smile and hobble back over to Darcie.
Dropping to my knees before her, I say, “Open your eyes.”
When she does, she meets mine, then looks at my cupped palms. I open them, and her reaction is worth almost toppling over in pain.
“Oh my God,” she cries, steepling her fingertips over her mouth. “I thought they only came out during the summer.”
“Not all of them.”
We both watch as the firefly I caught lights up the space between us. It hovers between us, not appearing to be in any hurry to join its many friends.
“It’s beautiful,” Darcie says, her eyes glued to the firefly, and I know she sees the beauty in something so simple as well.
No matter what we’ve done, no matter what we do, we’re just a couple of misfits trying our best to survive.
I hook my thumb over my shoulder, and as the moon comes out of hiding, so do the thousands of fireflies, lighting up the night sky.
“Rev,” she gushes, coming to a stand and running toward the lake’s edge, her arms spread out wide like she too wishes she could light up the darkness. But little does she know, she lights up mine every single day.
Our little friend flies away, knowing his job here is done.
I join Darcie, standing by her side as we silently peer into the sky littered with fireflies. She reaches down and loops her fingers through mine. The fireflies soon pale compared to the fire burning between us.
As usual, the world fades into the background until it’s just Darcie and me.
“Thank you for bringing me here,” she says in an almost whisper. “It’s my first date.”
“Sorry I bled through half of it.”
She smiles, and the sight takes my breath away.
“Why do they light up like that?”
“Because of a chemical reaction caused by the organic compound, luciferin, in their abdomens,” I reply without thought.
“Luciferin,” she repeats softly. “Sounds kind of diabolical, which is ironic, considering it relates to something so beautiful.”
I can’t help but compare her analogy to herself—Darcie is kind of diabolical, but she is the most beautiful girl in the world.
I’ve always hated the word love. It gets thrown around so easily, losing its meaning. But luciferin, now that is a unique word. And this right now, this feels something like luciferin.

WHAT IN THE EVER LOVING FUCK DID I JUST READ?!?!

First and foremost, this book has ALOT of triggers. With a that being said, let the games begin…

This book is about us fucked up as one could get. It’s dark, full of gore and macabre weaved into a twisted plot that runs deep.

This book is a lot to digest and is definitely in its own niche. However, if you can handle true dark reads, this book is for you.

“…we’re just a couple of misfits trying our best to survive.”

Monica and Michelle promised their best and they delivered on that and then some.

Down the rabbit hole we go…indeed.

I devoured this in less than a few hours and wish I would’ve savored this longer!!

If you’ve read none of the books in the Fallen Crest series or Roussou World….you can still read this one!! And join me in the ranks of “I suck for not having read them, but desperately need to now!” because it’s going to happen.

I absolutely loved Zeke & his “this is me, take it over leave it” personality. I love that he doesn’t apologize for who he was (he does apologize for his actions & that’s different) and he doesn’t care if you like who he has become.

Ava, oh sweet Ava. She may be shy & stay hidden but girl is not one to be walked on. She may hide from uncertainty but she also holds her ground.

I want to say so much more but won’t. Just read it – you won’t regret it.

Miller just may become my favorite hockey player in this series!

Scoring Chance is the newest release in the standalone series, Carolina Comets from Teagan Hunter.

If you’ve read previous books in this series (which you don’t have to) then you’ll know that Miller is known to be a flirt and quite the playboy.

However, we get a deeper understanding of Miller in this book & it absolutely made me love him more.

Scout is the owner of the donut truck that a good chunk of the team visits on the regular. However, she’s been giving Miller some heated stares ever since he didn’t recognize her when they were a mutual friend’s house.

Scoring Chance is fully character driven with very minimal plot and surprisingly, that didn’t bother me one bit. I loved getting to know both Miller & Scout on a deeper level and seeing what made them tick. What I enjoyed even more was watching the growth.

Teagan definitely allowed these two to tell their story and it played out beautifully. Another great story to add to this series.

Quarterback Sneak is Kandi’s newest release in her sports romance series, Red Zone Rivals and she keeps delivering touchdown after touchdown with each book.

These books can be read as full standalones as each book features a different couple. Quarterback Sneak is Holden and Julep’s story and it’s quite the angsty one.

Holden is the captain and QB1 for his football team. It’s his last season in college and they have a new head coach. The day they meet their new coaching staff, they are also introduced to the coach’s daughter who is joining their athletic training team. But one thing coach makes clear to everyone, his daughter is off limits to all or they will suffer the consequences.

Julep traveled with her dad to a new state and college for various reasons, but her number one reason being she wants to prove to her father that she’s ready to do things on her own. Julep is very closed off to everyone but her father. The last few years have been rough for her and he’s been there every step of the way.

Julep may have moved with her dad, but her biggest step is living in her own place with a roommate, which also just happens to be across the street from The Pit – the place in which a few football players reside and where all their parties are at.

Holden and Julep are both focused are their goals and doing their best to avoid any distractions that could deter them. But neither anticipated each other and Coach’s rule just adds another layer to that attraction.

Kandi wrote this story beautifully. I was invested from start to finish and loved every bit in between. These two definitely toe the line and the angst level is really up there. I loved every bit of their story – the characters, the plot and the writing. All of it just made for an authentic read and a story to remember.

A little Too Wild is the third book in the Madigan Mountain series and each book is written by a different author. While the books do surround a particular family, you can read them in any order and not miss anything.

ALTW features Crew Madigan. He’s a snowboard legend and hasn’t returned home since he left over a decade ago. He’s now returned for his brother’s wedding but doesn’t intend to stay longer than needed. Too many memories and no reason to truly stay.

Raven is Crew’s best friend’s sister. They’ve never seen the other as anything more than friends. But on the night of his brother’s wedding, they decide one night won’t kill them and give into this new attraction they seem to have discovered.

Devney does a superb job of giving this story some great depth and keeping the characters authentic and real. I love that she blends the snowboarding aspect beautifully and it all just blends wonderfully. Devney delivers the right amount of angst, drama and spice to keep readers turning the pages.
