BLURB:

“Did you have relations with my brother . . .”

Good question.

I’d like to preface this by saying it was never my intention to ever get involved in a workplace romance, let alone get involved with the most surly, agitating, and pompous man I’ve ever met who just so happens to be my new friend’s brother.

My intentions were to show students how English and reading books could actually be fun and make a new life for myself in the suburbs of Chicago.

But so far, I’ve managed to be called into the principal’s office.

Coerced into participating in the teacher’s badminton league.

And instigated into passionate fights with Arlo Turner over education and decorum while losing my underwear at the same time.

Known as Mr. Turns Me On, he’s the reason I might get fired from my first ever teaching job.

PROLOGUE:

**GREER**

“Before we get started, I’ve been told I need to ask you a question.” Stella sits cross-legged in front of me, a nervous look on her face, water in hand.

“Oh?” I ask, trying to act casual as I bring my glass of red wine to my lips. I have a scary inkling what this might be about.

She glances over at Coraline and winces. “Uh, I feel weird asking.”

Oh God . . . I was right.

Shifting, I say, “You know, we don’t have to—”

“Then why bring it up if you’re not going to propose your query?” Keiko asks impatiently while pushing her green-rimmed glasses up on her nose. “You know the frequency of these meetings is dependent upon staying within the comprehensive itinerary I composed during my lunchbreak.”

“Cool your bloomers, Keeks,” Coraline says while taking a large sip from her wine glass. “I want to know what’s making Stella so fidgety.”

The four founding members of the Ladies in Heat Book Club—aka my mismatched collection of friends—each bring diverse and unique character traits to our group.

Keiko “Keeks” Seymour—resident AP chemistry teacher at Forest Heights High School. Her social etiquette is lacking, her intelligence is off the charts, and she’d rather play with beakers than penises. She wasn’t thrilled about the book club name and made a noble attempt to explain why her suggestion, the Austen Empowerment Collaborative, was far more credible. Majority ruled, she lost.

Stella Garcia—Spanish teacher at Forest Heights and my co-coach. Currently single, makes the best tamales I’ve ever had, and is one stamp away from getting a free donut at Frankie Donuts. Can be shy at times, but when it comes to her family and friends, she doesn’t take shit from anyone. Loyal to the core, one of the reasons I adore her.

Coraline “Cora” Turner—recent divorcée and living with her brother, Arlo. Jobless at the moment and couldn’t care less about it since both she and Arlo have enough inheritance to last them a lifetime. Often annoyed by her older brother or annoying him, doesn’t partake in Twitter—says it’s a filthy pool of opinions, and is the first to offer up a bottle of wine.

Then there’s me . . .

Greer Gibson—twenty-four-year-old fresh to the teaching scene as Forest Heights’s new English teacher and women’s volleyball coach. I love running, have a penchant for a man in a cardigan, and can get a little noisy in the classroom while teaching. I currently share a classroom wall with Arlo Turner, Forest Heights most prestigious English teacher, and might have lost my underwear—

“Out with it, Stella,” Cora says, snapping at her.

“Please, so we can proceed,” Keeks says, straightening her notepad on her lap.

Stella looks me in the eyes and says, “Brock wants to know if there’s anything going on between you and Turner. Apparently, Turner won’t say a thing, but Brock thinks there’s some strong sexual tension building.”

Cora whips her head to me, her eyes wide. “Are you getting it on with my brother?”

Finger pointed in the air, Keeks leans in and says, “The proper term amongst company would be coitus.”
Rolling her eyes, Cora asks, “Did you have coitus with my brother?”

“You could also say intercourse if that amuses your jargon more,” Keeks adds. “Or copulating would be sufficient. But if you are inclined toward romantic terminology, since we are in the presence of the book club, you could say lovemaking or performing intimate acts. Although, given the circumstances of when coitus took place—in the work environment—I would deduce that your actions were performed carnally rather than with the interest of developing a devoted accord.”

“Good God, Keeks,” Cora says, irritated. “Who cares what it’s called? We just want to know if it happened.” Cora looks me in the eyes. “Did it?”

Did it . . .

Good question.

I’d like to preface this by saying it was never my intention to ever get involved in a workplace romance when I was hired at Forest Heights, let alone get involved with the most surly, agitating, and pompous man I’ve ever met.

My intentions were to show students how English and reading books could actually be fun, bring the volleyball team to a state championship, and make a new life for myself in the suburbs of Chicago.

But so far, I’ve managed to be called into the principal’s office.

Infiltrate the teachers’ athletic league.

And had passionate fights with Arlo Turner over education, decorum, and student-teacher friendships.
Not to mention I’ve lost my panties to him in my dreams more than I care to admit.

Why did this all happen?

Simple.

The man dresses in a cardigan, that’s how.

Arlo Turner. The bane of my existence, annoyance to my sanity, and the only man who’s ever made me want to spread my legs in a classroom.

He’s torn down my metaphorical walls, strapped on a cottony cardigan—pushed up the sleeves—and has driven me to the brink of insanity, so now whenever I hear the mention of his name, my legs automatically spread, and my heartrate picks up.

Known as Mr. Turns Me On, he’s the reason my star athlete is struggling to keep her grades up.

He’s the reason I tend to avoid the teacher breakroom.

And he’s the reason I might get fired from my first ever teaching job.

See Me After Class is quick pace and funny story.  I read this one so fast and enjoyed every aspect of it.

Greer is starting her first teaching job at public school that is held in high regards and one of the hardest for teachers to get jobs at.  She has a unique take on teaching and it’s her methods that annoy a certain teacher.

Arlo was one of the teachers that interviewed Greer for he job and wasn’t all that happy when she was hired.  He’s in charge of the English department and holds all his teachers accountable.  However, Greer throws a wrench into everything and he’s not sure how to handle her.

I really enjoyed this book.  You know that there is an attraction and some chemistry between Greer and Arlo.  However, they both loathe one another for various reasons.  But that sexual tension makes the anger between them even more charged.

Meghan writes characters that are quirky yet memorable and they feel so real.  This book flowed beauitfully and the characters made it all the more enjoyable.  The is was the perfect romcom for me.  I cannot wait to see if she brings us books about a few other charcters we got to know in this one.

Release Day Blitz & Review…Loathe Thy Neighbor by Teagan Hunt

Release Date: September 17

Don’t fall for your enemy…especially when he’s your new roomate.

Dean Evans is the worst.
Not only does the devil in disguise steal my pie on a regular basis, he also lives in the apartment right. Next. Door.
I see him all the time. At the mailboxes. In the elevator.
Every single morning.
It’s exhausting because he’s exhausting.

Now, after setting his apartment on fire, he’s my roommate…and he’s the worst at that too.

I don’t know what possessed me to let him stay with me. Pity, perhaps?
I do know that I won’t be falling for his charm.
Or that panty-dropping smirk.
His quick wit.
That body he works so hard for.

Nope. Not falling for any of it…least of all him.

There might be a fine line between love and hate, but I know exactly where I stand.

About The Trouble WIth Quarterbacks

CANDACE: KAT & YASMINE! DO NOT DALLY! Come straight home after work. Kat, don’t take the long route from the subway station just so you can pass by Cute Hot Dog Guy. This is important!

I’ve had THE BEST DAY. You won’t believe it. There I was in my preschool classroom, washing a bit of poo out of some soggy trousers, when this absolute babe came to collect his nephew from my class.
Truthfully, I thought I’d blacked out for a moment when I first saw him. He was a proper hunk with glorious brown hair, quite tall, and he had these arms. Are muscly arms supposed to turn me on? I’m panting just thinking about them.
Anyway, he told me he’s a professional foosball player. At least, I think that’s what he said. The tots can get quite loud near pick-up time.
YASMINE: Foosball? What are you on about? Have you gone mad?
KAT: Oh sod off. So what if I like to have a good look at Hot Dog Guy’s arse on my trek home after a hard day’s work? It’s called self-care.
CANDACE: Kat, you’re hopeless. Yasmine, yes—foosball! I suppose it’s a big thing over here in the States? We must investigate and learn everything we can.
By the way, he’s called Logan.
Logan + Candace. I think that sounds quite nice! I can hear the wedding bells now. Dum dum da-dum.
YASMINE: Oh good grief. I suppose we can do some snooping when I get home. I’ll grab wine on my way.
KAT: I’ll grab hot dogs.

THE TROUBLE WITH QUARTERBACKS is a hilarious romance about unlikely love found between a British preschool teacher and the professional quarterback who sweeps her off her feet.

Grab your copy today!

The Trouble With Quarterbacks is a sweet, funny and quick read.

Candance is a British preschool teacher in the United States. She lives with 2 other women who are also British and are quite hilarious.

Logan is a professional football player and also the uncle to one of kids in Candance’s class. They briefly meet one another during pickup time and exchange a few words.

Candance and Logan see one another again by chance and things progress from there. I won’t go into any other details because it’s quite hilarious and fun to read. Just remember that Candance is British and not too familiar with American things.

The Trouble With Quarterbacks had a quite a few funny moments and a lot of them surround Candance and her flatmates. They are all funny in their own right but it’s how they get along and talk to one another that keeps things light-hearted.

While I enjoyed the overall vibe of this book, I couldn’t see that physical connection between Candance and Logan. I needed more than just the looks they gave one another and it felt too insta-love for me. But I still enjoyed all the banter and the dialogue between everyone.

If you are looking for a sweet and east read, this is a must for you.

Release Day Blitz & Review…Nerdy Little Secret by Carrie Aarons

Nerdy Little Secret

Author: Carrie Aarons

Genre: Romantic Comedy

I’m sleeping with the nerd.
The nice guy.
The science geek who wears periodic table t-shirts around campus.

That’s my dirty little secret, but it began long before he unknowingly transferred to the same college I attend. We met at the summer camp I was mandated to work at, and our hush-hush affair started behind the kayak cabin and in the darkened canteen long after our respective campers went to sleep.

When Mick Barrett, rockstar name a complete red herring, enrolls at Salem Walsh University, we’re both shocked the first time we bump into each other. And he’s … surprisingly cold. With goals and secrets of his own, Mick is closed off and uninterested, something I’ve never encountered from the opposite sex.

My bruised ego has no time to recover, however, when he discovers the real secret I’m keeping, one that’s even more detrimental than our steamy summer fling. Agreeing to become my tutor, and help me save my future, the glasses-wearing swimmer, with the body of an Olympian under that punny math sweatshirt, begins to grow on me. Again.

Except we both have bigger things to focus on than sneaking around. Plus, we’re not made for each other. He’s aiming to be the next doctor of our generation, while I’m just hoping to survive my Saturday morning hangover.

Too bad our bodies, and hearts, start to believe otherwise.
Which has me questioning; can my dirty little secret become a happily ever after?

One-click Nerdy Little Secret now! mybook.to/NerdyLittleSecret

Nerdy Little Secret has got to be one of the sweetest books I have read this year.  I am a sucker for NA romances and this book shows why.

The blurb gives you all need to know about this book.  I love the premise of this and Carrie wrote this story beautifully.  Mick and Jolie are two characters that readers will fall in love with and wishing for their HEA.

Carrie does a great job of getting readers to connect to the characters and understand them more than just the surface of who they are.  The flow is perfect as nothing is too rushed and Carrie doesn’t lose the reader with the mundane day to day nuances of college life.

Nerd Little Secret is about as true to life as you can get with a college romance with how everything pans out (minus a few things that can only happen in a book or movie).  The realism in this book is what helps make the book all the more enjoyable and the characters lovable.

Carrie always knows how to deliver a sweet romance that leaves you with this feeling of bliss.  Nerdy Little Secret is just another example of why I will always read whatever she writes.

BLURB:

BREAKING NEWS: The Bad Boy of Baseball, Maddox Paige, is totally and utterly whipped.

Okay, that might not be the headlines in the newspaper this morning, but it’s the reality of my current situation.

It all started a month ago when I received a call from my best friend, Kinsley. She got a new job in Chicago and needed a place to stay. I’ve known the girl since I was five, what harm would it be to have her stay at my place for a while?

Ha! Total disaster.

Now instead of going out every night with my teammates, I’m couch surfing and sketching endless photos of my best friend . . . but that’s the least of my concerns.

The disaster, you ask? I’m rapidly falling head over cleats in love with my best friend, my roommate, and my number one fan.

And she has no idea . . .

TheChangeUp_teaser-3

PROLOGUE:

**MADDOX**

Have you ever said something you regret?
Something you haven’t forgotten about an hour later?
Something that sits with you, stews deep in your belly, and then seeps into your bones, burying itself so far into your marrow that all you can think about is the one thing you said . . . and how you wished you could take it back the minute it slipped past your lips?
That’s where I am.
Full of regret.
People always say, “Don’t regret anything. It’s what makes you who you are.” That was said in a whiney, nasally voice. Did you hear it?
Well, those people, the ones trying to spew rainbows and sunshine up your ass about blatant mistakes . . . yeah, they’re only saying that because they fuck up on a daily basis.
Think about it, what REAL person is okay with all their regrets? No one. There is always that one thing you did, that one time, that you will always, always, always think . . . “What if I’d done that differently?”
It keeps you up at night.
You wonder, what transformed, what took over my brain, to utter such words. To alter your life completely and send it down an entirely different course.
Yeah, my life has been fucking altered all right.
Everything was fine.
I was pitching one hell of a fucking season for the Rebels, my ride or die team. I was getting along with my teammates, even the infamous Cory Potter, who made a splash after last season. I’ll hand it to the man, he really is the boss. I was getting laid whenever I wanted, which is always a plus for a guy who has massive amounts of adrenaline pumping through him daily, especially on a pitching day. And there were no strings attached.
None.
Yeah, I might have a rotation of women I call, but any single player in the major leagues does. You need the outlet. Even the prestigious Cory Potter had some booty call numbers before he found Natalie.
I was living a great life, and then it all changed. And it changed fucking fast.
Before I knew it, I was staring into my fridge at dairy products not made from a cow, but rather from oat. What the fuck is that? Oat milk? Explain to me where an oat has a goddamn nipple.
My toothbrush is made from bamboo, which gives off a very woody, splintery taste, and I’ve been using toothpaste tablets instead of paste from a tube . . . because apparently, tubes suck up life in the landfill.
The eco-friendly toilet paper in my apartment disintegrates in my hand and is worthless, making bathroom breaks a fucking nightmare.
And there’s a goddamn three-legged dog in a suit and tie sitting on my couch that goes by the name Herman, or Hermy for short.
I don’t have any privacy, I don’t even remember what meat tastes like anymore, and “Hermy” has a goddamn staring problem. And the three-legged motherfucker, yeah, he’s stealthy. I find him waiting for me outside the shower . . . staring.
When I wake up . . . staring.
When I’m trying to make a goddamn tempeh sandwich . . . staring.
Every time I tell him to “get a life” or to “fuck off” or for the love of Christ “get a new hobby”, he doesn’t even bat an eyelash.
He just stares!
I can’t fucking take it anymore.
I’m losing my goddamn mind and I don’t know . . . maybe it’s because I haven’t had sex in what feels like forever, or because my burgers are now made of imposter “meat”, or maybe because I’m forced to do things I don’t want to do. Either way, something needs to give, because I’m pretty sure from all the vegan shit I’ve been eating, my armpits are just about ready to spring their own mung beans.
Christ.
One phone call.
That’s all it took.
One fucking phone call from a person I cannot say no to, a person who will forever and always be . . . my insanely beautiful and free-spirited best friend.

The Change Up is a really sweet sports romance by Meghan Quinn. This one caught be by surprise as I was expecting more humor (it is Meghan Quinn writing this and she is my queen for romantic comedies) and this one had the humor but it was definitely not at the forefront of this story.

Maddox Paige is known to all as the Badboy of Baseball. He’s constantly defending his teammates on the field with his fists and has no qualms about it. He’s a great ballplayer, true friend but keeps to himself most of the time.

Kinsley is Maddox’s best friend since they were kids. They have been through everything together and even when Maddox was called up to the big league, she has continued to be his biggest cheerleader. They may be further apart in physical distance, but they remained just as close as when they were kids.

Kinsley is offered a job of a lifetime for her but she doesn’t have the funds to support the move to Chicago. In steps Maddox offering up his place to share with her until she can afford her own place and is settled in at her new job.

Meghan delivers a very real and life-like picture of two friends growing in their relationship in an organic way at a natural pace. Readers will easily see the connection between Maddox and Paige even though they are complete opposites. It’s their encouragement of one another and support they show that adds depth to their friendship.

Maddox was a surprise for me because he has so much more depth than I expected. He truly won me over as the book progressed. Kinsley is probably one of the sweetest and loveable characters I have read and has this heart of gold that shines through everything she does.

The Change Up is a friends to lovers sports romance that will have readers loving these characters so much. I loved seeing Corey and Jason as secondary characters in here and their interactions definitely added the humor to this book. I am so looking forward to Lincoln’s book next!!

Review…Jackson by Siobhan Davis

Jackson - BT banner

“Jackson has everything you expect from a Davis novel: Incredible writing. Multi-dimensional characters. Plot that has you frantically flippings pages. It was devious and dark. Explosive. Hot. Passionate.”- Coralee June, International bestselling author

Jackson, an all-new standalone dark romance in the fan-favorite Rydeville Elite Series from USA Today bestselling author Siobhan Davis, is available now!

Jackson_ecover2 Book 5

The devil came to me in disguise. Too bad I didn’t notice until it was far too late.

Vanessa:

The devil doesn’t always wear an evil mask.

Sometimes, he appears in the most beautiful form.

Like the super-hot bad boy with the dirty-blond hair and a wicked glint in his blue eyes who swept in out of nowhere, stealing all the air from my lungs.

I thought he was my savior.

But he’s my ruination.

And he’s just taken a machete to my heart.

Jackson:

For years, my rage seethed under the surface. Hidden behind a cloudy haze of my poison of choice.

But now, the fog has cleared.

And I’m out for blood.

I will annihilate those responsible for taking my sister from me.

Except he’s not here, so I go for the next best target.

The woman he abandoned.

Until it suited him to drag her into this messed-up elite world.

Sucks to be her.

Because when I’m done with Vanessa, she’ll wish she was dead.

Excerpt

“Enjoy your day off, bitch,” Chloe says as we pull down the blinds and lock the diner up after another busy day.
“Don’t work too hard,” I singsong. I’m in a great mood because I get to sleep late in the morning and I have a full day off to myself.
A throat clearing interrupts our banter. “Is this a good or bad time?” Jackson asks, and the rich undertones in his voice send shivers dancing up my spine.
“Oh, this is a good time,” Chloe answers for me, and I spot a devilish glint in her eye. “A very good time.” She thrusts her hand out. “I’m Chloe. Van’s best friend. You must be Jackson.”
I glare at her. Okay, I’ve got zero game, but that doesn’t mean Chloe has to rub it in.
“You told your bestie about me.” He smirks, and I can’t decide which one of them I want to punch more.
“Didn’t you tell Sawyer?” I ask.
“Guilty. Guess that makes us even.” He flashes me that panty-melting smile, and my lace thong evaporates from my body. Like poof, and it’s gone.
“Oh fuck,” Chloe murmurs, totally getting it now.
“Yep,” I reply, not removing my eyes from Jackson.
“You’re fucked, girl,” she adds, her eyes shamelessly raking over every inch of Jackson’s semi-naked torso. He’s in shorts and sneakers again, and damn, if that isn’t such a good look on him.
“Not yet she isn’t,” Jackson purrs, “but if she keeps looking at me like that, I’ll have my cock buried balls deep inside her before we’ve even gotten upstairs.”
I fan my face while Chloe looks like she might faint. “I’m trying to work out if that’s a threat or a promise,” Chloe admits.
“It’s a promise,” Jackson says, winking at me. “I don’t do threats.”
“He’s a keeper,” Chloe decides, tugging on my arm. “And I’m detouring to Jon’s place because I need his dick now.”
I fight a smile.

Jackson is the fifth book in the Rydeville Elite series, but the second inter-connected standalone. You don’t need to read the previous books, however, I would highly recommend that you do to get a better all-around feel for these characters and second characters. Siobhan does try her best to do a quick synopsis on certain things to help understand parts of the plot, but it is a lot to summarize and wholly understand.

This book surrounds Jackson Lauder and his urgency to exact revenge on those who caused his sister’s suicide years ago; the very men who are the founding fathers of the Elite organization. And he’ll do whatever is necessary to see those who caused her harm, pay the price. And that includes seducing an old acquaintance.

Jackson and Vanessa partied in the same circles when they were starting out in high school. However, they were never what you consider as friends. They were both big drinkers, dabbled in drugs and were quite promiscuous. But now that they are older, they realize they both did not act in the best ways and are trying to start over.

I won’t go into details about either of their pasts beyond that because it’s their pasts that shape things in this book and prompt things to happen. The blurb explains that Jackson will be using Vanessa for his own personal revenge and that’s all you need to know.

Siobhan plays this plot out well and with lots of twists and turns. Just when you think you know how things are going to play out, there is another surprise thrown into the plot line. And it’s not an out of nowhere surprise that doesn’t make sense, but it’s one that takes the plot even deeper and has the reader pondering what happens next.

There are a lot of previous characters mentioned in this book, which is a necessity. As I said earlier, Siobhan does her best to keep new readers abreast on how everyone and everything interconnects and not become too overwhelming. This series is very addicting and I feel with these new standalones, Siobhan keeps things interesting while keeping Elite organization just as enticing as they were in the first book.

There are also characters from another series that are mentioned. I love that she has found a way to inter-connect another series with this one without taking away from either one. If anything, it will make new readers want to read that other series (Kennedy Boys).

I cannot wait to see what Siobhan brings us next.

This town ain’t big enough for the two of us.

I was determined never to return to Hale, Texas. But when my new life in the Big Apple throws me a curve ball, I have to go back to tie up loose ends. One of those being him.

Jason Whitney was my first everything. Kiss, love, epic heartbreak. He shattered my world once upon a time, and apparently, he’s not done yet.

With old demons lurking around every corner, hightailing it out of my hometown is at the top of my list. Complete my unfinished business, and I get to leave any memory of my country existence behind.

Only, with each day I spend in it, with each moment I spend with him, I’m turning back into the girl who laid in the tall grass and swam in the creek all those years ago.

And I’m not sure that who I was is ready to let me go again.

Jason

We drew a line down the middle, and neither of us has crossed it.
That is, until Savannah Reese blew back into our hometown.

The day my high school sweetheart left, she took my whole heart with her. We promised each other forever, made plans that only teenagers could believe in, and crashed and burned on the grandest of scales.

When Savannah last saw me, I was a disgraced high school athlete. All washed up, I took it out on the only person who loved me. Then her world really fell apart, and I was too selfish to care.

Now she’s back, ready to sell the only remaining thing tying us to each other. I’ve been breaking my back for the last ten years not to think about her, not to be reminded of the love we shared.

But now that she’s right here, it’s impossible to forget how we used to be. Or let go of what we still are.

Through the Lens is an amazing contemporary romance read that everyone will enjoy! The story also encompassed more than I had anticipated and it made the story that much more relatable and enjoyable.

Maggie has been pondering changing careers when she realized modeling was not where heart truly was. After a very unexpected leave from modeling, she moves to live with her sister to try and figure out what she wants to do next.

Desmond has always known his passion in life is cooking and photography. He runs a very profitable and productive culinary school but wants to take it one step further. But when his photography catches the eye of a prominent producer, his dreams are closer to coming true.

I enjoyed this story from start to finish. Desmond and Maggie’s story is such an authentic one, it is impossible not to fall in love with their story. They go from being fre-enemies to coworkers to more. I love how things progressed naturally and organically between them. I enjoyed all the banter and interactions between them as is just added to the chemistry bubbling underneath the surface.

Through the Lens was exactly what I needed right now. Everything flowed perfectly with the right amount of angst, humour and steam. Ms. Allen truly knows how to make her characters and stories so relatable and real. You can never go wrong when reading a K.K. Allen book.

Court Kensington is a thorn in my side.
I’m hired to clean up his badboy image, which would’ve been easy if my life wasn’t falling apart.
First, I catch my movie star husband having an affair with his co-star. Then when I return to work, my job is at stake, because Court has gotten himself into trouble…again.
Instead of getting him back in line, I find myself falling for his charm. And into his bed. And against the wall. And, and, and…
Except Kensington charm shouldn’t work on me. Not when I’ve sworn to never ever sleep with a client.
I had good intentions.
I really did.
But we all know the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The Hating Season is a contemporary romance full of angst, drama and a frowned upon romance. It is a complete standalone, however, I would highly recommend reading these books in order to get the best and all-around full story. The Hating Season is part of a series, The Seasons, but it is a spin-off of Linde’s Cruel Trilogy.

Court Kensington needs to have his image cleaned up after he had a rather unfortunate and complicated breakup. It’s not only for his own self-image but also because his mother is running for re-election and doesn’t need to be adding additional stress.

Anna English is one of the best publicist’s for Hollywood’s elite in LA. However, being a publicist for a social elite in New York is a whole other area. There is a reason that Anna excels at what she does – she doesn’t let any client get under her skin or under her in bed.

But now Anna finds herself being thrust into the spotlight with her movie star husband cheating on her and the paparazzi popping up and printing pictures and stories that fit their agenda. And Court has found himself in more deep water just weeks before the election.

However, Anna and Court find themselves needing one another for far more reasons than business. As much as Anna thinks she can resist the Kensington charm, she finds herself seeing another side of Court that makes it much harder than she thought.

I really, really enjoyed this story. It has all the angst, drama and sexy times that I love from Linde. We get to see the rest of the crew too in here and see where things are with all of them, but it never detracts from the story. Linde does a great job of keeping things entertaining, steam and moving at the right pace. I also love that she keeps readers on their toes about two more members of the crew that are coming up in the next book.

Another great book from the Upper East Side Crew and I am looking forward to Camden and Katherine’s story.

Review…Southern Storms by Brittainy C. Cherry

Southern Storm - BT banner

Even the town’s black sheep needed a friend sometimes

Southern Storms, an all-new, small town second chance romance from Brittainy C. Cherry, is available now!

SouthernStorms AMAZON

All I wanted to do was run away, I never expected to crash into his arms…

After leaving the city life behind to escape my loveless marriage, I moved to small town Havenbarrow for a fresh start.

What I didn’t expect was to find myself drawn to the town’s black sheep.

They called him troubled. Cold. A man with a dark past.

What everyone seemed to miss about Jax was the splashes of light in his eyes. The random acts of kindness he performed when no one was watching. The way he made me smile and laugh.

Jax helped unpack the baggage I’d been carrying around with me. He was patient with my pain and gentle with my scars. He was the stillness during my hurricane.

Yet when both of our pasts come back to haunt our present days, we realized quickly that sometimes love stories didn’t end the way we’d hoped.

Sometimes you were left with only the damage from the storm.

Kennedy
Joy Jones was quite the character to take in. That morning, when the sun came up, she walked outside to her front porch and sat down in her rocking chair with a smile on her face and a large cup of coffee. A few of my nosy visitors told me that it was a daily routine for her.
Her silver-dripped hair was tossed up in a messy bun being held together with two knitting needles, and her thick-framed, vibrant-orange glasses sat on top of her head. She wore a vibrant bow in her hair that matched her dress for the day, and she always greeted everyone who passed by her house, even when they didn’t speak back to her. Everyone in town called her Crazy Joy, even though she was the kindest person. Her only odd quirk was that she never left her property.
I wondered how she managed, though. I wondered how she kept living without stepping foot outside of her home. It seemed she hadn’t any children and she didn’t have a caregiver who came to aid her, from what I could tell.
Later that morning, my questions were answered as a blue pick-up truck pulled in front of the house. Needless to say, my jaw dropped to the ground when I saw Mr. Personality step out of the vehicle. He walked his way straight toward Joy’s front porch with his arms filled with grocery bags.
He proceeded to greet Joy. She stood from the rocking chair as he set the bags down on the porch. Then, he hugged her.
He hugged her!
I wouldn’t have thought someone as grumpy as Mr. Personality had the ability to hug someone. The two of them walked inside to put the groceries away, leaving me completely baffled and unable to return to my scheduled reading. It took a lot to break me away from a book. And by ‘a lot,’ I meant a lot. My house could’ve been on fire, aliens could’ve beamed me up, and I would’ve still been trying to get in that one last page. When my own love story was broken, I turned to story books to heal the cracks of my broken heartbeats. When my world fell apart, the story books still believed in happily ever afters. Those books saved me on the days I felt my soul falling victim to the hardest of storms.
Yet, Mr. Personality pulled me away from the words against the page. He made me curious about him walking into Joy’s house. Watching him chat away with her had my mind racing. A few minutes later, when the two of them walked back outside with two glasses in their hands—one with wine, the other with some dark liquor—whiskey, I assumed—I couldn’t stop myself from glancing over to them. Joy kept talking, and Mr. Personality kept responding. Even though I couldn’t hear what they were saying, Joy looked beyond smitten with whatever was being said her way, which forced my own heart to skip a few beats.
Well, I’ll be damned.
The town’s asshole made me swoon.

Southern Storms is the first book in Brittainy C Cherry’s newest series and she definitely delivers an emotional romance. All these books can be read as standalones and will definitely grip your heart strings.

“Every day is a new opportunity to try again.”

Southern Storms is Jax and Kennedy’s story and it’s an emotional one. They were best friends after their first summer camp together as kids but when circumstances pulled them apart unexpectedly, they never head from each other again. Until they find one another unexpectedly and without looking.

Kennedy is going through a really rough time in her life when she runs into Jax. However, neither realize who the other is immediately and it’s quite a treat when the knowledge becomes known to them later in the novel. And the story gets even more emotional from there.

” ‘The day I realized it was you, it turned back on.’

‘What turned back on?’

‘My heart.’ “

I really enjoyed how Brittainy wrote Jax and Kennedy’s story. It is told from both POVs and flips from past to present. Usually, it can get either confusing or hurt the flow of the story but Brittainy delivers the story beautifully and never misses a beat. I truly loved these character so much. Not just Jax and Kennedy but the secondary characters helped round everything out.

“Never in my life had I known silence could feel so good until I sat beside Jax Kilter.”

Southern Storms maybe a romantic story but it’s not a sweet one. It’s riffled with a lot of grief, healing all the emotions in between. It will make you tear up and smile all at once. This book will reach your soul and brand you.

Excerpt & Review…Rebellion by Siobhan Davis

Rebellion - BT banner

“Siobhan! Goodness. What a thrill ride with Harlow and her boys! I’m in love with them all!”– Ilsa Madden-Mills, Wall Street Journal bestselling author

Rebellion, the shocking second installment in the all-new dark, reverse harem series The Sainthood- Boys of Lowell High from USA Today bestselling author Siobhan Davis, is available now!

Rebellion_ecover NEW

Everything changed the night he betrayed me, and now, the game has entered a new level.

Galen did me a favor, reminding me the only person I can count on is myself, and I’m more determined than ever to avenge my father’s death and avoid the destiny Sinner has mapped out for me.

Saint is used to calling the shots, but there are new rules, my rules, and if he wants me in his life, and in his bed, he’ll toe the line. They all will, because I can’t pull this off alone, and they owe me. I’ll enjoy making Galen grovel, seducing Caz, frustrating Saint, and keeping Theo at arm’s length, because they deserve it for failing me.

Sinner thinks he’s in control, but forcing me into initiation plays right into my hands. War has come to Lowell as rival gangs battle The Sainthood for ultimate power, and I enjoy rebelling from the inside, placing more obstacles in Sinner’s path while I exact my revenge.

But I’m not some innocent thirteen-year-old anymore—I have blood on my hands and lethal enemies on my tail.

I’m playing a dangerous game, especially where my heart is concerned, but there’s no turning back. I haven’t come this far to walk away empty-handed, and the more secrets we uncover, the more we realize how far-reaching the betrayal and corruption extend, and there’s no choice anymore.

Excerpt

Things with Theo were always complicated yet simple. Difficult yet as easy as breathing. Our relationship now is no less complex, but I know I need to fix things with him. It’s no different from Galen in that regard. I can’t cause a divide in the group with me, Caz, and Saint on one side and Galen and Theo being frozen out on the other side. But even if I do patch things up with them, I still don’t see how it ends up working out. There are too many barriers to unity, especially with Theo.
I remove my hand from Caz’s. “Hey, could you give us a minute?” I gesture toward Theo.
“Sure.” He kisses my lips. “I’ll grab us a table.”
Theo lifts his head, his eyes finding mine, and I hate the anguish I discover there, because I know I’m partly responsible for it. I step toward him. “Hey.” I peer into his beautiful hazel eyes. Green is most prominent today, but his pupils are ringed in a layer of brown and amber, and I could stare at his handsome face all day. Tentatively, I reach out, cupping one side of his face. “You doing okay?”
He shrugs, looking away, and I tilt his face around with my fingers. “Don’t do that. Please.”
“It hurts so much to look at you sometimes,” he admits, his voice cracking a bit.
“I know.” I press my forehead to his, and my heart beats wildly out of control. “I’m sorry if I hurt you with Caz in the car.”
“It’s not that,” he says. “I just miss you, Lo. Miss the way we were.” His hands land on my hips.
“I miss you so fucking much,” I whisper. Tears sting my eyes, and I’m horrified. I pull back, because I can’t break down here. “Can we go to the park tonight? Just you and me. Like old times?”
His eyes turn glassy, and a soft smile graces his lips. “I would like that. We are long overdue a talk.”
I nod. “You hurt me, Theo, and I’m not sure I’m ready yet, but I want to try.”
“I want to try too, because I want to fix things with us.”
“Do you think we can?”
He shrugs. “I don’t know. I think I’m even more confused than I was back then.”
“Because of me or someone else?” I gently inquire.
His eyes pop wide. “Is it—”
I shake my head. “I don’t think it’s obvious.”
The door opens, and Caz pops his head out. “You guys coming or what?”
“Always so impatient.” Theo punches him in the arm, but he’s smiling. “We’re coming.” He reaches back, and I take his hand, letting him lead me inside.

Rebellion is the second book in Siobhan Davis’ The Sainthood series. It is just as action-packed and pulse pounding as the first. However, we see Harlow become more respected in this book.

This series is reverse harem, dark romance and definitely not for the faint of heart. And you truly need to keep your in mind that this is nowhere close to reality.

I won’t go into details of what exactly goes down in this book. Just know that a lot goes down, things are beyond intense and the sexual chemistry is out of control.

Harlow is discovering her place amongst the boys and the boys are finding themselves in new territory with Harlow. They are mutually attractive to Harlow and she is to each of them. However, she shares a special bond with each of them which keeps things interesting.

Harlow and the boys are being thrusted deeper and deeper into The Sainthood melee. However, they also have issues with rival gangs causing more problems for them than they expected.

This book is a rollercoaster of ride. Everything happens at lightening speed but never gets confusing. One thing I was hoping for more of was the connections between the boys and Harlow. We get a glimpse but it’s more about the physical and for me,that hurts the reverse harem aspect in this series.

Overall, it’s a great continuation of the series and keeps readers glued to their seats the entire time. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
