Release Day Blitz & Review…The Problem With Players by Brittainy Cherry

The Problem with Players by Brittainy Cherry is now live!

As a female coach, I’ve always lived by a simple mantra: throw hard, swing for the fences, and never, ever look back—especially when it comes to past flames.

So when my ex-boyfriend somehow manages to land the job as my new assistant coach, my life is flipped upside down. The game I thought I’d mastered is now being played with a whole new set of rules.

My ex is baseball’s all-star Nathan Pierce. He’s tall, dark, and undeniably handsome. He’s also all too eager to spend extra hours working together while flashing that familiar devilish smirk of his that still sends my heart racing.

Between playful teasing and lingering stares I discover that Nathan isn’t just here to work. He’s here to rewrite history. Our history.

And when fate throws another curveball that involves me needing a place to stay, Nathan offers me his spare bedroom which sends me spiraling into emotions I believed had long since faded.

Now I’m faced with the ultimate decision: keep it professional and continue fleeing from our past, or confront it head-on by playing the game he thinks we were meant to finish together.

4.5 Stars

Brittainy has delivered a smooth, slow burn that has the perfect balance of angst and humor in The Problems with Players. And let me tell you that once these two decide to make a go of things, that slow burn becomes an inferno!

Readers will absolutely love Nathan. He’s not only supportive and so sweet, but he refuses to give up on Avery. However, Avery will be a reader favorite as so many will be able to relate to her in so many different ways.

I love how this story unfolded. While I am not a fan of the third-act breakups, Brittainy handled this well and made it worthwhile for me.

Overall, The Problem with Players is a perfect romance read with a little bit of angst and humor to keep the book entertaining for all.

ALL. THE. STARS!!!!!!!

Where Lies Unfold is my first book by RC, but definitely not my last. If you can bring me to my knees, and make me ugly cry in a Mafia Romance, you get my utmost devotion to your writing. This book was EVERYTHING I love about mafia romance.

“Yes, you will rise from the ashes, but the burning comes first. For this part, darling, you must be brave.” – Kalen Dion

RC delivers a FMC that is unrivaled in so many ways; Lola has no qualms with standing her ground and her instincts never lead her astray. Santiago might be the formidable, but Lola has faced worse in her life and still came out alive.

“If you erase all the mistakes of your past, you would also erase all the wisdom of your present. Remember the lesson, not the disappointment.” – Unknown

This story was written flawlessly. The pacing and the flow of how everything unfolded was perfect. I love that each scene unraveled into the next scene seamlessly and as twists and turns were revealed, all the pieces just merged beautifully.

RC does a magnificent job of blending the suspense, the action, the romance and spicy scenes while still telling the story and never pulling away from any of it. Not once did I feel a lull in the story or that RC was purposely adding fillers to add pages to the book. Everything in this story is pertinent in one way or another.

The one thing that surprised more than anything with this story was how I felt these characters emotions rolling off the pages. I could feel their anguish, their hatred, their hurt, their devotion – that is not something I can usually pull from a mafia story. I’m usually hyped up from all the action and suspense and even keyed up from spicy scenes, but physically crying (chapter 41 had me walking away from kindle), completely unexpected and it made me appreciate this author’s writing so much more.

“Everyone has to deal with traumatic experiences. But if you let it define you, you’ve lost the battle entirely. Instead, use it as fuel to rise higher and to better yourself the way YOU want.” – Lola Hernandez (When Lies Unfold)

Keep reading for a look inside Drew!

“Where are we going?” Charlie asks from the passenger seat of my SUV as I turn off the road and drive through the open gates of the private entrance that leads to the old, abandoned hotel situated thirteen miles from Rydeville.

“You wanted to know, and the best way is to show you,” I supply as my cell pings with an incoming call. I press the button to accept Blackwood’s return call. “About damn time,” I growl.

“You’re not my only client.” His voice rings out through the car speakers.

“I’m the only client that matters.”

“Your arrogance never fails to astound me,” he replies in a droll tone.

“You’re not the first person to tell me that today,” I admit, and Charlie snorts. Silence descends for a few beats. “It’s okay,” I tell my contact. “Barron is with me, and he’s about to find out everything.”

“Good. That’s good. It’s long overdue.”

“Don’t have a clue who you are, but you talk sense,” Charlie says as I navigate along the bumpy driveway, maneuvering around potholes and bits of the old fence that litter our way.

“Ezra is my PI and personal hacker,” I explain, turning the windshield wipers on as the heavens open, tipping sheets of rain from the sky.

“I want to be there when you tell Daniels, Hunt, and Anderson.” Charlie chuckles.

“They will never know,” I say in a clipped tone, casting a quick glance at my buddy. “You promised you’d keep this confidential.”

“And I will.”

“I mean it, Charlie. I’m not dragging anyone else into this. It’s too dangerous.” I take a sharp left at the end of the bumpy road, driving more smoothly along the tree-lined lower part of the driveway now we’re on asphalt.

“I don’t agree, but I gave you my word. I won’t say anything to the others. The only people who will know are me and Demi.”

Charlie has changed so much. There was a time he was as secretive and stubborn as me. I’m still shocked he tells his wife everything.

I wonder what it’d be like to not have to hold anything back. To have someone accept you and love you completely knowing every dark broken part of you.

Talk about an unpredictable and explosive finale to this series!!!

I have to give Siobhan all the applause and kudos for writing not only an exceptional series, but one that has kept readers right at the edge of their seats through every single book.

Drew is the final book in this series, but should not be read as standalone. There are too many references to things in other books, and to fully grasp the enormity of everything that happens, previous books must be read to fully appreciate Drew.

I honestly don’t know what to say without spoiling every damn thing and I refuse to do that. But I will say that Siobhan executed this story (and the series ending) perfectly.

Like every other book in this series, there is no shortage of twists, turns, action, suspense and being put through a rollercoaster of emotions. And not one scene or shocking revelation was similar or remotely close to things in other books. I am one who can usually figure out the twists in books, but Siobhan definitely had my mouth gapping open in shock with this one.

Siobhan truly knows how to bring a series to a close, all the while still delivering one hell of powerful story surrounding Drew. It’s everything I love about Siobhan and her writing and nothing you will ever anticipate.

Release Day Blitz & Review…Hearty by Carrie Aarons

Hearty by Carrie Aarons is now live!

They say you can always go home again, but for August Percy, that didn’t apply even when she had to live there until her eighteenth birthday.

After saying goodbye to a toxic childhood, she never planned to look in the rearview. Until the death of the woman who caused all her trauma forces her back to Hope Crest.

With a mountain of debt and an uncertain future, August at least has a soft place to land when her former employer and surrogate big brother offers her a house that isn’t chock full of nightmares from the past. What she never bargained for, though? The boy-turned-man she’s always crushed hard on from afar accidentally becoming her roommate.

Evan Ashton is the prodigal son who finally came home … even if he didn’t necessarily want to. As the new head chef of his family’s fourth-generation restaurant, he’s trying to build his own legacy in a line full of stubborn men. So when he ends up under the same roof as the closed-off woman the rest of his siblings seem to know so well, Evan attempts to shut down any curiosity since he can’t afford more complications in his life.

Except conversations over late night snacks, having her unexpectedly working in his kitchen, and inevitably bumping into her at every family celebration they’re both invited to only seems to bring him closer to August … until all of that tension bubbles over.

Then danger begins to close in, and it’s not even a thought of putting himself between her and the threat. But secrets beyond either of their control, and opportunities far from Hope Crest, begin to cause cracks.

And when both of them question whether their intense connection can last for longer than right now, it may just be their final undoing.

This was by far my favorite book in this series!

I was so looking forward Evan’s book and knowing he was paired with August was icing on the cake for me.

Evan and August had completely different upbringings but both left their hometown to find themselves outside of their family.

Now they both find themselves back in their hometown. August has always crushed on Evan but he never noticed her. But now that they are older and find themselves in a unique situation, you never what happens behind closed doors.

I could not get enough of these two. I loved the tension, the slow burn chemistry and their late night talks. This was a perfect slow-burn romance with a bit of mystery and I loved every single bit of it.

Best book in the series for me!!!

Release Day Blitz & Review…Learn Your Lesson by Kandi Steiner

Learn Your Lesson by Kandi Steiner is now live!

My mother only wanted me to learn one lesson growing up…

Men are trash.

Her father left her, and then my father left us. Being raised by her and my grandmother, I was surrounded by the reminder to be independent and guard my heart.

After my one and only experience with a boy in college fell flatter than a pancake, I realized they were right — and I was content to live the life of a twenty-six-year-old cat lady.

Until Will Perry blew my quiet world to smithereens.

Starting goalie for the Tampa Bay Ospreys and the kind of hot that scrambles your brain, all I was ever supposed to be to him was his daughter’s kindergarten teacher. Then, in a twist of events, his temporary nanny.

But temporary turns to permanent, and when I move into his pool house, everything changes.

He’s impossibly grumpy and focused on only two things: hockey, and taking care of his daughter. I’m only focused on using this new income to pay back my student loans.

But in that house, I feel his heated gaze beneath that permanent scowl, the way it lingers and warms my skin. And though I know my mother would lose her mind if she knew, my dreams have become midnight fantasies about my long-haired, muscle-lined mystery of a boss.

When the tension becomes too much, we break, and we make a deal.

He still needs a nanny. I still need a paycheck and for my matriarchy to not disown me. But Will agrees to teach me everything I’ve always wanted to learn, and I’m all too eager to be his student.

I can do this. I’m a grown woman. I can explore my sexuality with the hottest goalie on earth and still remain one-hundred percent professional. And I can definitely do it all without catching feelings.

I have to.

Otherwise, I’ll end up heartbroken in my mother’s arms while she shakes her head and asks me if I’ll ever learn my lesson.

Learn Your Lesson was everything I expected, and more!!

Will Perry (Daddy P) and Chloe’s story is an emotional one in so many ways. This was the best combination of sweet and sugary with some yummy spice to keep things flowing perfectly.

Kandi wrote a great story that her characters carried very well. The pacing was perfect and each moment flowed wonderfully into the next.

I devoured this book and could not wait to see how things transpire between them. I loved seeing the growth in both Will and Chloe as things progressed. They challenged one another in ways they did not expect and that just added to their chemistry.

LYL is another perfection addition to this series and one that readers will thoroughly enjoy.

Meet Kandi

Kandi Steiner is a #1 Amazon Bestselling Author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tennessee. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. Her love for writing started at the ripe age of 10, and in 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.”

She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, planning her next adventure, or pole dancing (yes, you read that right). She enjoys live music, traveling, hiking, yoga, playing with her fur babies and soaking up the sweetness of life.

Blurb:

“I’ll find you again.”

That was my husband Jesse’s dying promise, a vow I’m certain he’ll keep. This wasn’t the first lifetime Jesse and I shared, and since love never dies, we knew, someday, we would be reunited.

After he passed away, I thought I’d never experience a love like that again—not in this lifetime anyway—and I accepted that.

But fate had other plans for me…

I met Dev Abramson when his white German shepherd plowed into me in Central Park, knocking me flat on my back, then slathering my face with her effervescent kisses. I was instantly drawn to Dev’s calm, centered presence and to his dog, Sheba, who welcomed me like a long-lost friend.

Dev gave me his card, but I failed to follow up, something I deeply regretted. So, when our paths crossed a second time, I wasn’t about to let him slip away again. I needed to know more about the handsome jazz pianist.

I never expected to fall in love with Dev, but now that I have—I’m afraid if I tell him that I was married to Jesse, one of the most famous rock stars in the world, and that we have shared previous lifetimes—I’ll lose him.

But my connection with Dev was instantaneous and so deep—as if I’d known him forever.

And I can’t help but wonder, maybe I have…

THIS BOOK IS THE SEQUEL TO LOVE ON THE EDGE OF TIME WHICH MUST BE READ FIRST.

THIS BOOK IS NOT A STANDALONE, IT IS A SEQUEL.

Start with Love on the Edge of Time #1

Julie has done it once again – blown me away with her astounding & talented writing.

First and foremost, you must read this book AFTER you read Love on the Edge of Time. This is the conclusion to that book and cannot be read as a standalone.

Now, where do I begin with this one. It’s been 6.5 years since Julie released the first book but it resounded with me so well, that after reading the blurb, it all came back to me as if I just read it. And no doubt, Love on the Edge of Forever is the same way.

This book touched my soul so deeply. I won’t go into details of this book – the blurb gives you all you need to know. But this book truly shows what a true soulmate is.

Julie delivers a profound story that will is very thought-provoking and will bring you to your knees. The emotions I felt while reading were jaw-dropping intense and I could not walk away from this story.

Love on the Edge of Forever is more than a romance – it’s the story of many lifetimes. It’s a story that will forever stay with me.

Nine Month Contract is a full standalone featuring the Wyatt (one of four Fletcher brothers) and Trista. There are characters from a pervious book (Last on the List) but you can go into this book without having read it before and still enjoy this fully.

I love how Amy had this story played out. I love that she takes a very personal decision and shows all the different aspects that comes with going down the surrogacy road. But what I appreciate alot, is that Amy shows not one person is the same in their response to this decision.

This story plays out in a very entertaining yet realistic way with these characters. Trista and Wyatt are very open and honest with one another from the start and that continues throughout the story as they have no problems with communication.

Amy stays true to these characters and their mannerisms throughout the story. Trista tends to laugh through difficult times and that bleeds into her very humorous personality. Wyatt is very protective of anyone he truly values and those he loves and you see that throughout the story.

You can see how Wyatt and Trista navigate their new normal. I love that these two are serious but also lighthearted about it to keep things from getting too serious, which fits their personalities well. Neither of these characters ever take anything lightly but their upbringings play a huge role in how they both respond to different situations and that makes this story all the more authentic.

Overall, Amy writes a truly entertaining and enjoyable story that readers will appreciate.

Excerpt

“By the way…I’m ovulating right now, so I say we get this show on the road when I get back to the mountain tonight.”

Trista, my hired surrogate, sped off in her van, leaving me in a wake of nerves and anxiety. I wore a path on my wood floor, pacing my house and waiting for her to return. I knew this day was coming. I just didn’t know exactly when. And now that it’s here…I’m not sure how to prepare for it.

A knock interrupts my obsessive thoughts, and I realize it’s her.

Time to make a baby.

I open the door and stupidly grunt out, “I went to the Mercantile and picked up pizza.”

She holds up two brown bags in her hand. “I picked up booze.”

She kicks off her beat-up cowboy boots and marches past me, dropping her purse on my small farm table like she’s been in my place a million times…which she hasn’t. I watch her curiously as she props her hands on her hips and assesses the space for a second before making her way toward the kitchen, giving no outward reaction to the home I built with my bare hands.

Not that I need her approval on this house, but I guess I just…I don’t know what I want. A baby. That’s what I want. That should be all that I want from this woman.

She sets the brown bags on my butcher-block island and pulls out two bottles of white wine. Without pause, she twists the cap off one and takes a swig straight from the bottle.

My brows lift. It’s going to be that kind of night.

“These were two for seven bucks at the gas station, and it tastes like it.” She coughs and winces at the taste.

“Do you want something else?” I offer, making a move to my refrigerator. “I only have beer.”

“No,” she mutters and takes another quick sip. “I’m not a very big drinker, but I’m nervous as shit, and lots of people get pregnant drunk, so…science. How are you doing?”

Her candid response is more comforting than she realizes. I haven’t known Trista for long, but I like that she calls a spade a spade. I move to stand next to her at the island, noticing how much smaller she is out of her boots.

I point at the second bottle. “Is that other one for me?”

She silently slides it over, and I twist the cap off and join her in the wine-bottle-chugging experience. I shudder at the horrible taste because I’m not a wine drinker…but I will be tonight. I want her to feel supported through this, and if that means choking down a disgusting bottle of cheap wine, I’ll do it.

“Pizza?” I point at the box on the other side of her.

She nods and helps herself, mindlessly chomping down on a bite.

“I checked on the animals in the barn before I came in here, and they both looked very content in their pens,” she says around a mouthful. “That was really sweet of you to buy those troughs for Reggie. Sorry if I was a bitch about the pen thing.” She takes another swig.

“You weren’t a bitch.” I take another swig, eyeing her baggy T-shirt that’s covered in Millie hoof prints and a substance I can only assume is from the pig.

It’s odd to have Trista in my house. All of our meetings thus far have been pretty professional. And this whole concept of me hiring a surrogate felt like something that was never actually going to happen. It feels more real now that we’re here, face-to-face, without a lawyer talking for us. More personal. Like we’re letting our guards down.Probably because you’re about to put your cum inside her, my inner voice adds with a dirty sneer. I take a big drink.

WOW!! Fantastic read from Rachel!

For someone who’s not a fan of historical romance, Rachel definitely knows how to keep a reader vested in the story.

Red Kingdom is a unique take on the retelling of the fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood.

The story starts off with some great action but then Rachel takes readers into a deeper story, allowing readers to see who these characters are.

Red Kingdom is definitely more heavy on the plot & character development and less reliant on the romance and chemistry between Rowan & Blanchette. And honestly, that’s what made this story even more enticing.

Rachel delivers a story that has depth, many layers, and characters that readers will empathize with. I truly loved watching Rowan and Blanchette grow in their own ways as the story unfolded. It was just another layer to a very well plotted out story that gives readers the HEA they enjoy.

Red Kingdom is highly recommend to any fantasy or historical romance reader.

“Are you sure you want to go through with this?” Everett asks as we loiter at the bottom of the stone steps leading to the building where our summer school classes are being held.

“What’s not to be sure about?” I pull a long drag of my cigarette, blowing smoke circles into the warm New York air. “I told you I’m going to make them pay. Every last fucker who has hurt me and Roman will suffer.”

“But Emery isn’t directly involved,” he protests, and it’s not the first time I’m hearing this argument from my best friend.

“No one asked you to enroll. If you’ve changed your mind, I can hack into the WLU system and remove you from the schedule.” I know he won’t back out because he needs this program as an excuse not to join his family in The Hamptons.

Everett blows strands of inky-black hair out of his eyes, turning to glare at me. “Quit being a dick. You know I’m on your side. I have stuck with you this far, and I’m not bailing. I just don’t like you using this chick to get back at her parents. She’s innocent.”

Tossing my cigarette butt on the ground, I stub it out with the toe of my sneaker. “But is she?” I arch a brow in his direction as I run a hand over my cropped dark hair. “She’s grown up surrounded by wealth. Living in her posh Tribeca penthouse. Vacationing in exotic locations. Wanting for nothing because of that asshole she calls Dad. She’s got to know he’s a shady fucker who hides his criminal enterprises behind a few legit businesses and fake charitable endeavors.” I swing my gaze around the imposing university campus. “If she’s here, she’s smart enough to know he didn’t generate that kind of wealth from a few tech shops and private group homes for troubled teens.”

“That doesn’t make this right,” he grumbles, removing a bottle of water from his backpack.

“What happened to my brother wasn’t right! You know what happened to Roman in that place,” I growl, my mood instantly darkening. Everett is the only person I told what went down, and I expect more understanding. “You know how Winston Copeland laughed in my face when I told him what that bitch had done.” Pushing off the stone pillar I’m leaning on, I swipe my backpack off the ground, my skin prickling with unspent rage. “He didn’t give a shit about right and wrong, and I’m sure as fuck not going to lose sleep when I exact payment from his daughter and leave her ruined.” I grind my teeth as I stare at him. “No one is forcing you to be here. If you’ve suddenly developed a conscience, feel free to leave.”

I push past my buddy—the only guy who still talks to me at school—bristling with anger and pent-up frustration. Everett is hardly the poster child for morality, and he’s starting to get on my last nerve.

Climbing the steps two at a time, I head toward the entrance doors, not waiting to see if he follows. I push through the doors, walking in the direction of the registration office. Everett narrows the distance between us with his long-legged stride, falling into silent step beside me as I walk along the eerily quiet hallway.

This year is the first year West Lorian University has opened its doors to advanced high-school students who wish to take prerequisite college courses before starting senior year. It’s a joint initiative with West Lorian High and a few other private high schools across NYC, including my school.

When I hacked into Emery Copeland’s tablet and discovered she was signed up for the program, I wasted no time in applying. I knew I’d get in because I’m a straight-A student with an above-average IQ. Throw in the orphan card, and it’s a done deal.

Our parents were strict about studying, and all three of us were encouraged to achieve our full potential through extracurricular classes and regular supervised study sessions. I was luckier than Roman or Penelope because things seem to come easily to me, and I never forget something once I have learned it.

After we register and officially pick up our schedules, we make our way to the auditorium for our first class. I already downloaded our schedules last week, ensuring we were attending all the same classes as Copeland’s precious princess.

“She’s over there,” Everett mutters under his breath, subtly jerking his head to the right as we step foot in the auditorium.

I take a moment to study her as I walk along the row directly behind my prey. Emery’s dark-red hair hangs in soft waves down her back, bouncing gently as she turns her head to speak to the brunette in the seat beside her. Flawless pale skin peeks out from behind her hair, and her startling green eyes move in my direction as we make our approach.

I stare at her, fixing her with a challenging look that dares her to keep looking at me. Two pink spots appear on her cheeks before she twists her head around, refocusing on the conversation with her friend.

I drop into the seat directly behind her, purposely breathing heavily on her hair as I deposit my bag on the ground between my feet. She stiffens, ever so imperceptibly, and I smirk as I hold my head still for a few beats, letting her feel the intensity of my attention.

Everett claims the seat beside me, pulling shit from his bag.

The brunette whips her head around, narrowing her eyes at me. “Do you mind?” She gestures toward Emery.

“Fuck off.” I drill her with a look that usually sends people scurrying for the hills. But this chick has balls. She flips me the bird, and I chuckle as I settle back in my seat, deliberately pushing my feet against the back of Emery’s chair.

“Asshole,” the brunette murmurs, turning around as the professor steps onto the podium and calls for quiet.

The rest of the morning follows the same pattern. Us trailing Emery and her pint-sized friend from lecture hall to lecture hall, sitting behind them in every class. She doesn’t turn around, but from her rigid stance, I know she’s aware of me. Most likely, she’s trying to figure me out.

I know I’m making her nervous, so I’ll consider that a win.

During lunch, I choose the table directly in front of them, situating myself so I’m staring her in the face.

“I thought the plan was to fuck her,” Everett says before biting into his burger.

“That’s still the plan.” I stab a piece of chicken, chewing it slowly as I drill a hard glare at the pretty redhead. Two nerds with slicked-back hair, wearing almost identical white polos with khaki shorts, slide onto the seats beside them, and I watch as Emery makes polite conversation while pretending she doesn’t feel my hatred burning a hole in the side of her skull.

“How does glaring at her like she’s the she-devil accomplish that goal?” Everett inquires.

“Chicks dig assholes. I’m just giving her what she wants.” I pierce my fork into another piece of chicken, watching Emery blush at something dweeb number one says.

Everett chuckles. “I’m glad I stuck around for this.” He sure has changed his tune. “I can’t wait to see how you get her to drop her panties in four weeks. She might as well have virgin stamped on her forehead.”

“You doubt my skills?” I tear my gaze from my target for a few seconds, quirking a brow at my friend.

“Fuck no. I’ll never bet against you.” His lips curl at the corners. “If you could persuade Terri Vickers to let you fuck her while Gray was in the next room at Crawford’s party, I know you’ve got this in the bag.”

I refocus on Emery, pleased to find her inquisitive eyes already on me. I stare at her as I make a meal out of licking my fork, enjoying the blush creeping up her neck. Dweeb number two glances over at me, a frown marring his brow, and I flip him off because he’s annoying me. She purses her lips in distaste, and I fight a smile.

Princess Emery is so prim and proper with her fake superiority and misguided pride.

I can’t wait to dirty her up.
