Fighting Words is the perfect title for this book!!! It’s truly a double entendre too.

The blurb is all you need to know about this story going. And being that we’re all readers, this story is so relatable and realistic.

The way this story builds up, the angst and the banter between Summer and Nate was amazing! My cheeks from smiling and laughing so much. I truly enjoyed how they interacted and things happened naturally between them.

I really enjoyed the overall plot of this story and how things played out. Definitely another great book from R.S. Grey

No, that was a lie. It wasn’t just some reason. I knew exactly what it was.
And it wasn’t Daisy and Kane, my fellow team members today. No, it was the other one.

I didn’t want to think about her, but I wasn’t sure I could stop. I needed to, however. My job demanded it.
I was a bodyguard and an installer. I not only protected my clients and charges, I also installed security equipment for businesses and homes. While my bosses laid out the security profiles and programs for large corporations and small residences—and also worked with cybersecurity—I did the installs when I wasn’t on bodyguard duty. I enjoyed both aspects of my job and was talented at it.

It was always hard to think about anything when it came to Jennifer. My coworker and my nemesis. Not that she knew she was my nemesis. No, that was all on me.
Those blue-gray eyes of hers were piercing and saw everything. At least when it came to the job. She could scent an incoming threat as quickly as I could, and that was saying something. I might be cocky as fuck when it came to my job, but it was for a reason.
And Jennifer was sometimes even better.
Her dark brown hair was pulled into a tight bun away from her face. I liked it when her hair was down, though, since it fell in soft waves past her shoulders. She pulled it back in a ponytail or a braid when she was working out, but when she was on duty, like today, it was in a bun, so nobody could use it against her in a fight.
I always kept my hair decently short, but my beard was getting longer. I’d probably have to trim it soon. I wasn’t trying to blend in like I had with my old job when everybody had long beards, and I was undercover. Now, I needed to trim it a bit so nobody could pull it in a fight.
But Jennifer? She’d thought about all of that already. Hence the bun.
She was slim with a narrow waist and average height—though not much about her was average. But that delicate frame was all muscle. She could bench press more than a few of the guys on the team and kick any of our asses on any given day. Hell, she’d pinned me to the ground once, and I nearly swallowed my tongue. And then I’d had to hide my erection from her. Like I did most days. Because Jennifer was a distraction.

Loved Cross and Everly’s story.

The Wildcat was a perfectly-paced, romantic sports, romance story that will sweep readers right off their feet.

I loved how things were sizzling hot from the get-g0 but it wasn’t all physical. I truly enjoyed that we got to see these two get to know one another on a deeper level. The amount of respect Cross has for Everly and vice-versa, it just added to their already insane chemistry.

As perfectly paced as this was, I blew through the story in no time. It was definitely a page-turner and kept me engaged the entire time.

Highly recommend for anyone who loves a good romance.

“Hey,” I whisper as I enter the room for what I know is going to be the last time.

“Hey, beautiful.” His red-rimmed eyes shine with honest emotion, conveying so much without words. “Come sit with me.”

I walk quietly to the window and sit beside him, memorizing the stunning view I have always loved.

He takes my hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. “I’m so sorry, Stevie.”

“Me too.”

“I never meant to hurt you.”

“Nor I you.”

“I was selfish and cruel and reckless with your feelings, and I won’t ever forgive myself for it.”

“Forgive yourself,” I say without hesitation. “There’s been enough hurt, guilt, and blame.” I lean in and kiss his cheek with tears in my eyes. “I already forgive you.”

“You shouldn’t.”

“I love you and care deeply about you. That won’t ever change. A part of my heart will always belong to you.” Removing the jewelry he bought me for my last birthday, I place it on the coffee table, and it makes it final. Real.

This is the last time we will ever see one another.

As much as this needs to happen, it’s sad it has come to this.

“But you love him more.” Pain underscores his words, and I hate I’m the cause of it.

My inclination is to refuse to answer or deflect, but we’re not tiptoeing around one another anymore. “I do.”

Agony flares in his eyes, and it hurts, but I’m not sorry I was truthful.

“I will always love you,” he says as we stare at one another through blurry eyes. “It’s because I love you I am letting you go. We need to let what we had stay in the past and move forward along different paths. We’re very different people now.”

“We are,” I acknowledge with a nod. “And it’s neither of our faults we have ended up here.”

“I thought we would grow old and gray together,” he says with a sad smile.

I’m not sure I did, but it’s hard to remember exactly what I was feeling at the time. “Things happen for a reason. Some lucky woman is out there waiting for you to find her. I hope she doesn’t have to wait too long.”

He brings our conjoined hands to his mouth and brushes his lips across my knuckles. “I want you to be happy, and he’s your happy place. I see it now.”

He is, and I hope it’s not too late to reclaim what we had.

“I won’t ever forget you,” I say over a sob. “I will always cherish the time we shared. Be happy.” I swipe at the tears streaming down my face. “It’s all I want for you. Don’t ever stop fighting for that happiness because you deserve it.”

I don’t protest or pull away when he leans forward and kisses me softly and briefly on the lips.

It’s the only goodbye we can handle.

I hug him for the last time, and then I get up and walk out the door and out of his life.

TRIPP!! That is all I am saying.

Brooke does this couple justice! I love this story unfolds and how their relationship moves and develops in a natural way.

There were a few areas that dragged for me (discussing certain movies felt like filler) but overall, this book moves the perfect pace.

Readers will trip over Tripp. He’s just so, EVERYTHING!!! Magnolia is a firecracker – that’s the best way to describe her. I love her and her personality.

Stay With Me is a book every romance reader will enjoy.

Scarlett is not your typical heiress. Yes, she realizes how fortunate she is, however, she doesn’t want to be known for that. She wants to be relatable to the every day individual. And when she is provided an opportunity to live outside the life of her Lancaster, she takes that opportunity, with a bit of hesitancy though.

Monica does a wonderful job of letting this story play out naturally. But with saying that, certain revelations seem quite fast and the characters address this very well. I found this story to be authentic in so many ways yet very entertaining for readers. There is very light drama and is all handled well.

Overall, another great read from Monica Murphy!!
