Release Day Blitz & Review…Fighting For You by Monica Murphy

Fighting For You by Monica Murphy is now live!

Diego Garcia.
Class bully.
Football star.
My boyfriend.
I fell hard and fast for the resident bad boy and he fell just as hard for me too. We were the perfect couple, until things turned sour.
Senior year and we’re both super busy. He has football. I have volleyball. Soon enough, I hear the rumors – Diego’s cheating on me. After everything we’ve been through, I’m devastated. Breaking up with him was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. He doesn’t love me. Besides, only a few more months of school, and then I’m going away to college. And Diego will be permanently out of my life.
Until I find out I’m pregnant. And now we’re forever tied together…

So I am one of the few who have not read any of the previous books in this series (don’t ask cause my only reason is I am a dumbass). Anyway – you can read this book as a standalone, BUT (and it’s a BIG BUT) I would highly, highly recommend reading them in order. These characters were introduced earlier in the series and there was definitely a backstory that I missed but it did not hurt the overall plot of this book. You just knew you missed some juicy tidbits. LOL

Fighting For You is a YA romance and Monica does well staying true to these characters and their ages. Diego and Joselyn are high school senior who find themselves becoming parents and they are no longer together.

I enjoyed watching Diego and Joselyn grow – both as individuals but as upcoming parents. They learn a lot, way earlier than either expected, but it forced them to grow up and face their own faults.

Fighting For You is written from both Diego and Joselyn’s POVs and I think that really helps readers gain a better understanding of each character and where they are coming from. There is a lot of ups and downs and it’s nice getting the viewpoint from each of them.

I enjoyed this story and these characters. Now I need to go back and read the previous 4 books to see what all the hype is about. 😊
