Sexy Filthy Boss is the first book I have ever read by Piper Rayne. Hell, I had not even known it was two authors til I read their bio before reading this book. I am always the last one to the party, but I do eventually get there. LOL
Anyway – I enjoyed this story. It was a fairly quick read for me and I enjoyed the interactions between all the characters.
Sexy Filthy Boss is the start of a new series about three brothers who have no intention of ever settling down. We get to know a bit about each brother (and their sister) but the main focus is on Enzo and his goal of making partner at his marketing job.
Enzo has always been focused on attaining his goals and during his tenure at his job, it’s a known fact that he has difficulties keeping assistants. Annie has worked at the same firm as an assistant to another ad executive and has had front row seats to the revolving door of assistants that Enzo goes through. Until she is asked to help with him temporarily because of his high work loan and large client they are trying to bring on.
I really enjoyed the banter between Enzo and Annie. She is very fierce, strong-willed woman who has no problems letting others know where they go wrong. Enzo has never met a woman like Annie; he’s used them to doing his bidding and not standing up to him. But what shocks him more is her ability to quickly add insightful ideas to the ads and it’s something that he truly values.
What I really enjoyed about this book was how real it felt. I enjoyed that neither Annie nor Enzo acted on their feelings immediately and both were level-headed about everything. There was no insta-love vibe but more of mutual attraction growing into more as they got to know each other, both personally and professionally.
While the majority of this book was about the office romance, I enjoyed the secondary plot which is how women are treated differently in certain roles and jobs. These two authors did a great job of plotting this idea out and watching it unfold in this story.
Overall, I did enjoy this book and will be looking forward to the other two brothers’ books.
