Je Suis A Toi by Pepper Winters….Excerpt Reveal

je suis a toi excerpt reveal [5693]

Excerpt

“You obeyed me.”

Her head bowed, her legs spreading wider, revealing the gift I worshiped daily between her legs. “I did. I look forward to my reward.”

My lips curled; the darkness enveloped me. The beast inside stretched, unsheathing its claws, lengthening its spine in preparation.

I stalked toward her and fisted her hair. I fell more in love than I already was.

This woman made me come alive. This woman would end up killing me. But my life was already hers, and I would die gratefully on the pyre of her affection.

“Tu connaiss les règles, esclave.” You know the rules.

“What rules, maître?”

“You don’t get your reward until you’ve been punished.”

Her gaze glittered with rebellion and retaliation but not one ounce of fear—the perfect cocktail for a bastard like me. “Go ahead. You’ll never break me.”

“Ah, my sweet, sweet Tess. That might be the case…” I nipped at her bottom lip. “Mais ça ne m’empêchera pas d’essayer.” But it won’t stop me from trying.

Dropping the black bag by her spread legs, I tugged on her right plait. “Up.”

Unfolding immediately, she stood quivering before me. Her chest rose and fell, imprisoned in the dark red bra I’d handpicked for her. Her flat stomach shadowed with faint bruises from previous nights, and I traced the bite mark I’d left on her hipbone after our parlour games.

I wanted to do what I’d planned now. To get it over with before she could have second thoughts. But I restrained myself. Anticipation would make it that much sweeter.

Gripping her jaw, I kissed her with a wet-as-fuck dominating kiss before pushing her backward to the bed.

She obeyed every prompt. Falling onto the bedspread, she watched me with desire-glittering eyes.

This room was very much like our assigned accommodation, only smaller. The fireplace roared with heat and the four-poster bed hung with midnight blue drapery rather than forest green.

My jeans and t-shirt became too tight as my body prepared to tease and torture.

Tess squirmed on the mattress as I moved toward her and yanked her up the bed by her arms. The moment she was in the middle, I uncoiled a piece of Japanese silk rope from my pocket and looped it around her wrist.

With a sharp smile, I secured her to one of the four bedposts.

It was a risk tying her down like this. After all, she’d done the same to me when I’d given her my nightmares to hopefully break hers. However, no memory of that day hovered in her gaze. Her skin already flushed with lust as I fastened her other wrist and moved toward her ankles.

She didn’t speak—she was too well trained—but her eyes never left my ministrations.

She gasped as my fingers ran around her ankle, cupping her heel protectively before wrenching her legs apart and securing them as tight as her wrists.

Once finished, she lay spread-eagled with no hope of escape.

I stood and surveyed my fucking delicious woman. The lingerie barely hid her bare pussy, shadowing it in red lace while her bra couldn’t hide the pinpricks of nipples begging me to bite.

Running a fingertip from her instep to her clit, I murmured, “So pretty and no chance of running. What shall I do with you?”

Her hands fisted, her lips parting with breath. “Anything…do anything you want.”

“Anything?” My fingers pinched her pussy, indenting her soft flesh with the lace protecting her.

She gasped, white cheeks flushing so prettily. The scrap of material couldn’t hide how wet and hot she was, drenching the delicate underwear. Her desire matched mine. I was rock-fucking-hard for her.

“I’ll give you a choice, Tess.” Rubbing her pussy, I pressed hard and swift. “Pain or pleasure first? You make the call.”

Her back bowed as I stabbed at her entrance, prevented from entering her by the lacy garment. Soon, that bastard chastity belt would have to be sliced away. But for now, it kept me focused. Gave me a barrier I wasn’t permitted to break.

Her eyes switched from dove-grey to dark blizzard. “Pain…I pick pain first.”

I shook my head, stealing my hand from her core and bending to unzip my black bag. “Wrong choice.”

“Life taught me an eternal love will demand the worst sacrifices. A transcendent love will split your soul, cleaving you into pieces. A love this strong doesn’t grant you sweetness—it grants you pain. And in that pain is the greatest pleasure of all.”

Backstage Pass by Olivia Cunning…Book Spotlight, Excerpt, & Giveaway

9781492638698-PR

Synopsis:

THE SINNERS ARE BACK – Reissue of the first in a sizzling rock-star romance series from USA Today bestselling author Olivia Cunning

It’s been months since Brian Sinclair, lead guitarist for the famous rock band, The Sinners, composed anything. Unable to write the music that once flowed so naturally, Brian is lost without his musical mo-jo. But when sexy psychology professor Myrna Evans comes on tour to study groupie mentality, Brian may have found the spark he needs to re-ignite his musical genius. When lust turns to love, will Brian be able to convince Myrna that what they have is more than just a fling, and that now that he’s found his heart’s muse, he doesn’t want to live without her?

Excerpt:

She squeaked in surprise when he lifted her off the ground and tossed her over his shoulder. He gave her ass a playful swat.

“You, Miss Evans, are being very naughty today.”

“I’m always naughty.”

“True. But today’s naughtiness is poking holes in my fragile ego.”

Myrna laughed and slid her hand down the back of his pants to toy with the smooth skin on his butt.

“None of that.” He pulled her hand out of his pants.

“Since when is your ego fragile?”

“Since I met you.”

“So is that the attraction?”

“Huh?”

“Well, I can’t help but wonder why you’re so interested in me when you can get much better looking and younger women who jump at your every command.”

“There are no better looking women than you. Though I admit most of my girlfriends have been younger. Okay, all of them have been younger. I didn’t know what I was missing.”

She slid her hand into the back of his pants again.

“What are you doing?” he asked, pulling her off his shoulder and setting her back to her feet.

“Convincing you to let me down.” She grinned up at him mischievously. “It worked.”

He shook his head at her. “You never do what I expect you to do.”

“Then maybe that’s the attraction.”

“Is it really so hard for you to believe that I’ve fallen for you for no reason whatsoever?”

“There has to be a reason.”

“It’s more like there is no reason for me not to fall for you. You’re everything I want.”

“I don’t think I’m cut out to be a rock star’s girlfriend.” It made her heart ache to say it, but it had been weighing on her mind a lot lately. The more she talked to Brian’s groupies, the more jealous she became. She knew he had no real interest in them, but they were so available and she knew she wasn’t there for him emotionally. What if he decided she wasn’t fun anymore? That he needed more than she could give him? Would he toss her aside? And why did that thought bother her so much anyway? It wasn’t as if they were serious.

He touched her cheek gently. “Then don’t be a rock star’s girlfriend. Be Brian Sinclair’s girlfriend.”

“They’re one and the same. Your life is so interesting and mine is so ordinary. Boring. I’m an over-educated farm girl from the Midwest.”

“And I’m a college dropout from the West Coast.”

“You went to college?”

“For one semester.”

“What did you study?”

“Girls, mostly.”

She poked him in the ribs. “Why did you drop out? You could have graduated Summa Cum Laude.”

“Sinners signed a record deal.”

“Wow, that young? Did your father help you get it? He must have millions of connections in the business.”

Brian laughed. “Here’s the thing about my dad. He never once encouraged my music career. We cut our first album with a small independent label and went on tour in a piece of shit van for eight months. I’ve never been hungrier in my life. It didn’t help that Jon kept stealing our cash to feed his drug habit. When I finally swallowed my pride and asked my dad if he could offer some support, do you know what he said?”

“What?”

“If you really want to follow this dream, you need to suffer for it so it means something to you if you manage to reach the top. He wouldn’t even buy me new guitar strings. Ever try to play a solo missing your second string? Uh, yeah… Not good.”

“Did you hate him for that?”

“Nah, I thought I did, but now I realize he was right. If you don’t have to work for something, you just don’t appreciate it as much.”

Myrna nodded in agreement. “Yeah, I can understand that. That’s why I went for my PhD. My parents didn’t support me when I went to college. They thought I should get married and have kids. Stay home and raise them like a clone of my mother. So when I was in college, I worked my ass off at odd jobs while most of the traditional students had their tuition and bills paid by their parents. Going it on my own really did make me appreciate it more. I worked harder to get good grades, too. I wanted to prove I could do it.”

He hugged her. “See we do have more in common than great sex.”

“Fabulous sex.”

“Amazing sex.”

“Yeah, let’s have some of that right now.”

He squeezed her butt. “Not until after the show.”

“You know I love a challenge, right?” She closed the gap between them, her hand cupping his half-hard cock through his pants. “I’m very determined to get what I want.”

“Something else we have in common.” He removed her hand from his crotch. “Will you watch the show tonight instead of interviewing the groupies?”

“Will you make it worth my while?”

“Do you have to ask?”

“Brian, I’m incredibly turned on right now.”

He groaned. “You don’t plan to make this easy on me, do you?”

“Do you have to ask?”

He stared at her for a moment, worrying his lips with his tongue. He looked ready to pounce on her and she was more than ready to be pounced on.

“Farmer’s daughter, huh? I know nothing about farming,” he said. “What’s that like?”

She sighed in exasperation. “You really are going to make me wait until tonight, aren’t you?”

“Yep.”

She turned and started walking back the way they’d come. They must have walked at least a mile down the beach. “Farming is boring,” she called over her shoulder. “That’s all you need to know.”

He jogged to catch up with her. “You’re not going to get out of this that easily. Tell me something about yourself.”

A rumble of thunder reverberated above. Myrna looked up at the black clouds. “I think we should make a run for it.”

“It’s too late. We’ll never outrun it.”

The first fat rain drops splattered across Myrna’s upturned face. “We’re going to get soaked.”

She dashed toward the car at a full run. When she reached the car, she tugged the door handle. Locked. Brian had the keys. She turned to find him sedately walking up the beach.

“Hurry!” The clouds opened wide and drenched her within seconds. “Brian, hurry!”

She could see him grinning to himself as the rain plastered his hair to his head and his shirt to the contours of his chest. He didn’t pick up his pace though. She stood there, shivering, waiting for him to open the car. When he finally reached her, he drew her chilled body against his, his strong hands splaying over her back.

“Open the door.” She reached behind her to grab the door handle.

“No.” His fingers sank into the wet strands of her hair, tilting her head back. He stared into her eyes until she released the door handle and slid her hands up his belly and chest. He lowered his head and kissed her, his fingers easing her dress’s zipper down. He brushed the straps of her sundress from her shoulders, exposing her breasts to the elements. Goose bumps rose to the surface of her skin and her nipples ached as they beaded in the chilly air. Rivulets of rain trickled over her shoulders, between her breasts, down her belly. Brian lowered his head and collected water from her skin with his warm tongue. His mouth burned over her flesh.

Myrna groaned and reached for his fly. If she unleashed The Beast, she knew he would end her torment and possess her body with his. Hopefully right there on the cold, slick hood of her car. Before she could release the button of his jeans, he grabbed her wrists in a steely grip and pinned her arms to her sides.

“No,” he said.

He gazed up at her, water dripping from his nose and chin.

“No?”

“That’s what I said.”

He sucked her beaded nipple into his mouth. His hot tongue rubbed against her sensitive flesh, drawing moans of pleasure from her. She struggled to release her wrists from his grip, wanting to bury her fingers in his hair, but he refused to set her free. She jerked her body away from his devilish tongue, changed her mind, and twisted to offer him her other breast.

When he didn’t immediately draw it into his mouth, she looked down at him. His devilish grin made her heart throb.

“Do you want me to suck this one, too?” He stroked her neglected nipple with the tip of his nose.

“Yes.”

“Yes?”

“Yes, please.”

He drew the flat of his tongue over her offered nipple and she shuddered.

“I think my work here is done.” He stood straight and released her wrists.

“Oh no it’s not.” She threw her body against his, her fingers tangling in the wet strands of his hair, her mouth seeking his in a desperate kiss. He kissed her in return, while drawing the bodice of her dress to cover her breasts and zipping the garment at her back.

He pulled away all too soon. He looked up at the sky, blinking rain from his eyes. “I don’t think this rain is going to let up any time soon.” He retrieved the keys from his pocket and unlocked the car door. Before she could climb into the warm, dry interior of the car, he asked, “Have you changed your mind about going to L.A. with me yet?”

“Is that what this is about?”

“Nope. I just want you to want me really, really bad.”

“Mission accomplished.”

BOOK BLURB:

Brooks Benson is bored, stuck and miserable. When both his parents were unable to continue running the variety store, he dropped out of college and came back home to help. It’s been almost two years and he’s tired of making pizzas and selling scratch tickets to the locals of Hope Harbor, Maine. But as the second oldest Benson brother, he’s the one that stepped up. Now all he can see is a gray future in front of him.

Remington “Remi” Tate is disappointed, frustrated and out of options. After dropping out of college and trying to make a go of it in New York, she’s forced to come back home to live with her parents in Hope Harbor. Totally humiliating. Things are looking pretty grim until she starts baking again and runs into Brooks when she visits Benson Variety to ask if they’ll sell her whoopie pies, cakes, and cookies.

What was once a high school crush is now something much more mature that hits both of them like a ton of bricks. Brooks is game, as long as they keep things physical. which is just fine with Remi. She’s not planning on sticking around Hope Harbor forever and Brooks is definitely a lifer. They’re just two different to ever build something that could last.

Life rarely goes according to plan and what starts as just sex soon turns into something that splashes color into their once-drab lives. For the first time, they find peace and security in one another. But will it last? Or will everything crumble into pieces, leaving them with nothing?

SERIES ANNOUNCEMENT FROM CHELSEA M. CAMERON

One family. Seven people. A whole lot of love and a whole lot of drama.

Everyone in Hope Harbor Maine knows the Benson family: six sons, one daughter. They live by one rule: Family comes first.

The Benson Brothers series will be seven books, all standalones that can be read individually, or in order.

BensonLogo

Author’s note: I’ve been DYING to write a series all in one family. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is my favorite musical of all time and I thought, wouldn’t it be cool to write seven stories all from the same family? As an only child, one of my favorite things to explore is sibling relationships. I also saw a gap in stories about working-class people in the New Adult category, which was another reason I wanted to write this. It’s also an ode to Coastal Maine, where I grew up and still live. I wanted to write books that were steeped in salt water and sweat. Books about people who work hard and love hard. I’m so excited about this series and I hope you will be too.

review

So I am torn on this book.  I liked it but I didn’t love it like I have with my previous LL Books.  However, I also realize that this book has characters who are younger than the other characters she’s written.  So nothing is going to be the same.

Good Girl is definitely a NA novel, if not a tad YA, for me. The characters are slightly juvenile in their choices and are in need of some growing and maturing.  And that’s not necessarily a bad thing either – not every character should have their sh*ttogether so young.  It was refreshing to see how young kids would act when their lives are throw into the spotlight and rumors start to unfold for the whole world to give their opinion on.

I think Lauren wrote her characters well for their age and maturity.  As I said, they needed to grow and learn, which they did as the book progressed.  Do I agree with everything they did, no. But again, it’s the author’s creativity and the book isn’t suppose to be true to life.  It was nice watching them fight a losing battle and see their inner struggles.

My biggest thing was I knew exactly how the book was going to go almost immediately.  So if you are looking for something with some angst and a bit of suspense, don’t expect it from Good Girl.  It’s a very simple and enjoyable read of young adults learning the ways of the world.

Overall, it’s a nice read.  If you have read LL before, do not expect to get the same thing in this book.  While it is still well written, it’s a much easier and breezier read and very simplistic in it’s plot.  Definitely a summer read.

 Excerpt

The Light Fae. As a race, they were supposed to be all about good and decency, but there wasn’t a shred of either emotion within the walls of Usaeil’s castle.

Neve observed Talin examining everything around him – from the castle, the Fae walking outside, the trees, and even the sky. His pale silver eyes missed nothing. She wondered what he saw, and how he catalogued things.

His long, black hair had the barest hint of a wave to it as it hung to the shoulders of his pale blue shirt. He shoved one side behind an ear and tilted his head as if listening.

She didn’t think he realized she was still beside him, not that she minded. It gave her a chance to fill her gaze with his sharply chiseled features.

The hard planes of his jaw and chin were in direct contrast to his wide lips and thick eyelashes. It was difficult to look at Talin and notice anything but those beautiful eyes.

Except when she did look down, she saw a body that made her hands itch to touch him. His shirt barely contained wide shoulders that tapered to narrow hips where navy pants encased his legs. Every muscle was honed and defined.

As eye-catching as Talin’s personal package was, it didn’t hold a candle to what drew her interest – his bearing. The way he stood, walked, talked.

In a castle full of Light who believed themselves above others, the only one who had the attitude and demeanor to carry it off was Talin.

I really have no idea where in the h*ll to start this review.   Crave Me crushed me.  It wrecked me.  But in the most devastatingly yet beautiful way.

With every book in this series, my heart was racked harder and harder each time.  I swear my heart can’t anymore.  This book gutted me completely – and I didn’t think that was possible after the previous book.

“You’re signing your life away to the devil, and you don’t even fucking realize it.”

As with all her books, Crave Me deals with some really messed up situations and problems that truly exist.  And she doesn’t sugarcoat a damn thing – what is written, is truly what happens in life – the gritty, raw and ugly parts.  Along with the beauty that comes from it.  You can’t find a rainbow without weathering the horrific storm beforehand.

Crave Me is Austin’s story and let me tell you, it’s not a pretty one.  Drugs make you a completely different person and an addict will never see that.  Briggs (Daisy) is the only light in Austin’s life.  She is his reason for finally living again – not just surviving.  But an addict needs to want to heal for themselves, not for anyone else.

“You’re addicted to drugs, Austin.

And I’m addicted to you.

And our love is just as fucking toxic.”

My heart broke for Briggs.  At the young age of 5, her life was wrecked and nothing was never the same.  She carries so much guilt and yet she’s so strong.  The sh*t she goes through would break most people.  Yet she still moved forward and tried to find the beauty in everything around her.

Austin and Briggs story will rip you apart.  You will see all their love and passion for one another along with their destruction, suffering and pain.  These two go through a lot – highs, lows and everything in between.   I felt every emotion that Austin and Briggs felt, there is no way I couldn’t.  Monica wrote a heartbreakingly beautiful story.   This is one story that you will find yourself craving and not being able to walk from til you finished it.

Colors blended together making it hard to focus on one thing. I blinked a few times
and just like that…
I saw her face.
As if she was standing right in front of me.
Smiling.
Happy.
Laughing.
My whole world…
My girl.
I felt my lips curl up slightly at the vision as I reached out for her. Wanting
to touch her, needing to hold her, yearning to kiss her. Craving, God, craving
to fucking love her.
“I’m sorry,” I murmured out loud to no one but the illusion of my drug-infested
mind. “I’m so fucking sorry,” I repeated repentantly, longing for her to
believe me.
Aching for her to love me again like she used to.
I don’t know how long I sat there, staring at her beautiful face before my eyes,
subconsciously rubbing the tattooed key that was placed over my heart. I
couldn’t take it anymore, and the desire won over the haze.
It was too powerful.
It was too vivid.
I grabbed my phone. “Baby,” I said into the speaker. The ringing quickly
followed, going straight to voicemail. I hung up and tried again. “Baby,” I
urged with desperation in my tone.
Still nothing.
I tried again and again and again.
I would try until the end of time if that’s what it took for her to answer.
To talk to me.
To save me.
To crave me.
Time just seemed to standstill, as my life slowly played out in front of me. Trying
to balance in between the light and the darkness when all I could see was gray.
“What?!” she screamed into the phone, finally answering after I don’t know how many
failed attempts. “What the hell do you want now?”
“Mi cielo.” I breathed a sigh of relief.
She ignored my term of endearment. I hadn’t called her that in such a long time.
My heaven.
“What do you want, Austin? Why are you calling me? We’re over! I can’t do this
anymore!”
I shut my eyes and let my mind wonder, allowing it to go to another place in time
where she didn’t hate me.
“I remember the first time I made you smile,” I chuckled, as if it had just
happened.
My nerves were on fire. The mere sound of her breathing through the phone was too
intense for me. I licked my lips, my mouth suddenly dry.
“I remember when you used to smile just for me. Do you remember, baby? Do you
remember what my love feels like?”
I heard her faintly breathing.
“Do you remember my hands on you? My lips? My tongue? The first time I made you
come with my mouth? Do you remember all the times since? Tell me I’m not
forgotten. Tell me you remember, baby.”
Silence.
“I love you, Briggs. I love you so fucking much. You’re killing me, don’t you see
that? I’m dying without you.”
“No, Austin. You were dying with me,” she rasped, knowing that it killed her to say
that.
“The first time I saw your face, I thought to myself, damn, this beautiful girl is
goin’ to be the death of me. You were perfect in every way. I was a cocky son
of a bitch who needed you then, as much as I need you now.”
More silence.
“I had a dream about you, baby. I always fucking dream about you. In my dream you
had a ring on your finger. A ring I put there. You belonged to me. Only mine.
Forever fucking mine. You were pregnant, Briggs. You looked so goddamn happy. I
saw light at the end of the tunnel for the first time in years.”
She sniffled into the phone.
“I made love to you. Slow, just the way you love. Taking my time to touch every
last inch of your body. Memorizing every last bit of you. Making you come until
you begged me to stop. I didn’t.”
“I can’t—” she tried to interject, but I didn’t let up.
“I kissed your stomach. Our baby. Letting my lips linger there, whispering sweet
lullabies, letting her know daddy will always be there. Baby, it was so real.
For a second I gave you the one thing you so desperately wanted, the one thing
I can’t give you.”

Too Hot to Handle by Tessa Bailey…ARC Review

Too Hot to Handle releases tomorrow, 5/17!

thth

Synopsis:

When rescue looks like a whole lot of trouble . . .

The road trip was definitely a bad idea. Having already flambéed her culinary career beyond recognition, Rita Clarkson is now stranded in God-Knows-Where, New Mexico, with a busted-ass car and her three temperamental siblings, who she hasn’t seen in years. When rescue shows up—six-feet-plus of hot, charming sex on a motorcycle—Rita’s pretty certain she’s gone from the frying pan right into the fire . . .

Jasper Ellis has a bad boy reputation in this town, and he loathes it. The moment he sees Rita, though, Jasper knows he’s about to be sorely tempted. There’s something real between them. Something raw. And Jasper has only a few days to show Rita that he isn’t just for tonight—he’s forever.

My Review:

Too Hot to Handle is the first book in a new series by one of my fave authors of all time: Tessa Bailey.  You know, I always get a little nervous excitement when an author I love starts a new series.  I mean, what if the dynamic between the characters that I’ve grown to love over other series isn’t the same or what if the chemistry between the hero and heroine isn’t as hot an all-consuming?  I now know that I should never worry about that when it come to Tessa Bailey.  This book was freaking amazing and kicks off a series I am already dying for more of.

Since you can get a synopsis of what this book is all about above, I’ll dive right into what I loved about this story…

First off, I’m the oldest of four and I certainly know my fair share of sibling dysfunction, and we are all considered close by sibling standards.  But sometimes time and life and feelings get in the way and you end up not really knowing the people you shared life and a home with for too many years to count. On that level alone I connected deeply with this story.  But going beyond that, I loved the two main characters in this book: Rita and Jasper.  Two strangers almost destined to meet.  Each running away from their pasts and looking for a new start, but not really knowing how to get one, or even if they deserve it.  They are both at a crossroads: Jasper looking to shed his reputation as a ladies man and aiming to be a serious business owner and Rita looking to just find direction in her life, whether it be in the kitchen doing what she’s trained to do or finding something entirely different.  Both of them just want to be happy and content and at peace for once.  Comfortable in their own skin, if you will.  Fate really knew what she was doing when she put these two on a collision course and I couldn’t have loved their story any more if I tried.  From start to finish their relationship is a journey of self discovery and learning how amazing the connection they’ve found is.  Oh, there are stumbles along the way, but it just reinforced how amazing they are together.  When one of them stumbles, the other person is there to pick them up, wipe off the dirt, and start again. Truly, they are an amazing couple.

Now, onto the rest of the Clarkson crew. I can’t get enough! They’re all different colors making up the same rainbow and each painted with their own shade of screwed up and I am in love with each one of them.  As I said earlier, this is a series I am DYING for more of!

I also have to give mention of how amazing Miriam, the Clarkson sibling’s mother, is.  She may not be with them in the physical sense any longer, but her journal and the thoughts she shares with all of them had me sobbing like a complete loon and I loved it.  The legacy and gift she is leaving with them is incredible (and yes, I’m crying again just thinking about it).

Just when I think I know Tessa’s writing style like the back of my hand she goes and switches things up a bit and it makes me appreciate her stellar writing skill that much more.  Make no mistake, her signature heat and dirty talk is still there but there’s a different feel to this book that I just loved. It’s like with each new series she dreams up, there’s an individual feel and I am blown away anew.

Thank you, Tessa, for this amazing kick-off to another must read series of mine!

About the author:

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of eight years and four-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.

Magnificent Bastard by Lili Valente….Review

Magnificent Bastard Cover

Blurb:

F*ck Prince Charming. Sometimes, you need a Magnificent Bastard.

Face it, ladies: love sucks and then you cry…while your ex rides off into the sunset banging your best

friend.

But why let a break-up end in tears when it can end with sweet revenge? Enter Magnificent Bastard

Consulting and me, chief executive bastard. I’ve got it all—looks, brains, a heart of gold, and the killer

instinct guaran-damn- teed to make your ex regret the day he said goodbye.

With the help of my virtual assistant, I’ve built an empire giving broken-hearted women the vengeance

they deserve, while keeping myself far from the front lines of the heart. Life is a bowl of cherries, until

my virtual assistant shows up on my real doorstep for the first time, begging for a Magnificent Bastard

intervention of her own.

Damn… She’s a bona fide sex kitten.

I pride myself on being a true pro, but pretending to be her lover soon leads to giving it to her good,

hard, fast, and up against the wall. And somewhere between getting balls deep in my sweet and sexy

assistant and watching her ex beg for a second chance, I break every last one of my damn

rules—professional and personal.

So what’s my next move? Fight for the girl who makes me want to get up on a white horse and ride to

her rescue, or stay a Magnificent Bastard to the end?

Warning: MAGNIFICENT BASTARD is a stand-alone erotic romance told from the

hero’s point of view. No cliffhanger. Lots of dirty talk.

Review:

Ahhh, one of my favorite tropes! The boss-assistant romance. So. Much. Fun.

Yet, at first, I didn’t think I was going to like the book. The prologue made the hero, Bash Prince, sound

arrogant instead of alpha. It’s a fine line, for me anyway. But I also knew the prologue was sort of like

reading the brochure for his business, so of course he’s going to proclaim himself pretty much God’s gift

to women if he’s selling you on using him to get back at an ex. Then there was the use of the word “slut”

that didn’t pass my slut-shaming litmus test, and shortly after that a quip about a tired stereotype aimed

at the LGBTQ community. I considered putting the book down, for good, but didn’t think making that

judgment at the 10% mark gave it a fair chance.

So, I read on – and things markedly got better once the virtual assistant showed up. Bash proved himself

to be a stand-up guy. And our heroine, Penny, while maybe a bit flighty, gave as good as she got. In all

ways, people. ALL WAYS.

My favorite things about this story were the humor and the hot, hot, hot sex scenes. (Though I do wish

we’d gotten a full scene devoted to the blowjob in the shower instead of a flashback—nitpicking, I

know.)

If I hadn’t had sex in nearly three years, I would be trembling in a corner somewhere, jerking off and

crying in a nest I’d fashioned from a stack of old Playboy magazines and my own tears.

There were lots of funny moments like this, making me laugh out loud and then having to hide my

Kindle when the kids asked what was so funny.

I bend closer until I can feel her increasingly rapid breath warming my lips. “I’m happy to strip you bare

right here. Right now. Lift you up on this counter and fuck you until you come so hard you see Jesus.”

“I’m Jewish,” she murmurs, swallowing hard.

See what I mean about the humor?

If you like the boss-assistant trope wrapped in a sexy and humorous story, Magnificent Bastard should

be on your list.
