1986 is based on the events of Chernobyl. It’s told from a third person about Allana, Vasy and Alex.

Allana marries Vasy and moves to Prypat, Ukraine (USSR). There she meets his many coworkers and one of them being a fellow American, Alex.

I was truly struggled through the first 30% of the book. The next 30% I wasn’t thrilled with and then finally right around the 67%, I felt a bit of excitement. But that unfortunately didn’t last through the end.

I had a really hard time connecting to the characters. I felt nothing for them – didn’t really care what happened to them. What kept me glued to the book was the unique ideas and Mr. Parker’s creativity of how the US was tied to the Chernobyl accident – the conspiracies on other things that have gone wrong in our world at that time. Is the world truly better with nuclear power? It’s this stuff that kept me wanting to read more.

This book is marked as romantic suspense, but do not expect a whole lot of romance or steaminess. And honestly, I am glad that there isn’t. I think that would have taken away from the true plot of this book and make it too cheesy. I applaud Mr. Parker for not going that route. I enjoyed the deception, supense and drama that occurred during the later parts of the story.

Mr. Parker’s writing is unique. This is the first book I have read by him. Even though this book is not a 5 star for me, it may be for others. I am intrigued enough to read more of his work.

As the author of the best-selling mystery romance, Surviving Goodbye, Morgan Parker has written several other novels under this pen name. In 2012 and 2013, he self-published Textual Encounters and Textual Encounters: 2, respectively. As a result of the interest in these two stories, he wrote non friction, an unconventional love story. That love story earned Mr. Parker a tremendous amount of attention and at the insistence of his readers, he followed it with Hope (a novella) and Sick Day. All three of those stories have spent time on Amazon best-seller lists.

When not writing, Morgan likes to spend time gathering story material from his two young children, rereading books by Colin Harrison, and napping where he discovered the Type II Sleep State, which is the topic for an untitled trilogy to be released in late-2016.

Where do I even start my review of this book? I don’t know how many times the words “WTF” or “holy sh*t” crossed my lips while reading this book. Let me tell you – the warning in the blurb that this book is dark is no lie – it’s very dark & edgy. But it’s sooooo damn good.

Backfire takes place in the same area as Ricochet – the seedier parts of Detroit. The characters all have their stories and each one just as gruesome and messed up as the next. Not everyone has a rainbow and puppies outcome, but some do. The journey just is filled with grit, grime and a lot of ugliness.

Lucy is a photojournalist for the Detroit Mudracker. But she takes one on the riskier jobs and is able to work in her love of urbex with her job. It’s her love of urbexand her next case at her job that unintentionally lands in her some deep shit.

Jase grew up in horrible conditions -hungry, poor and beaten daily. He relied on stealing, cheating and eventually dealing to keep him and his brother alive. But matter what he did, he still found himself in the pits of hell in the end.

“For my brother, I was willing to go to war. For you, mia Luce, I am willing to wage one.”

To say that Jase and Lucy’s story is a rough one, would be putting it mildly. Keri takes us on an ugly, gritty and edgy ride. She holds nothing back and gives her readers no mercy. She’s uncompromising and unapologetic in writing of this story. But where there is all the violence and gut wrenching parts, you will find the erotic and steamy scenes added in.

Keri takes you deep into these characters and the plot. You will feel your heart breaking and wanting to smash things as you read. You will feel the anger, vengeance and sheer hatred from these characters. But you will also find your heart being put back together and fighting with them for their freedom. You’ll feel the empathy, love and utter devotion to one another.

About the author:

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Chapter One

Graham Robinson had spent the morning working up a good sweat, thanks to a drunken teenager who’d gotten behind the wheel of a Cadillac Escalade after a rowdy, unsupervised party last night.

The kid had apparently lost control of the expensive, late-model SUV and plowed through a large section of the fence at the Galloping G Ranch, where Graham lived. Then he left the vehicle behind and ran off.

Both Graham and the sheriff who’d been here earlier knew it had been a teenager because on the passenger seat a frayed backpack, as well as a catcher’s mitt, sat next to an invitation with directions to a ranch six miles down the road.

Sadly, the same thing could easily have happened to him, when he’d been seventeen. That’s why he and Roger Gibault, his friend and the owner of the ranch, were determined to turn the Galloping G into a place where troubled teenage boys could turn their lives around.

Back in the day, both Graham and Roger’s late son had what Roger called rebellious streaks. Graham’s dad, the patriarch of the famous Austin Robinsons—and an alleged member of the Fortune family—wasn’t so open minded.

But after Peter’s tragic death, things had changed. Graham had changed Now, instead of creating problems for others to clean up, Graham was digging out several damaged posts and replacing broken railings.

Bon Appétit and a Book:

This is my favorite homemade dessert—and appropriate for my Texas characters.

TEXAS CHOCOLATE CAKE

2 sticks butter
1 c. water
4 tbsp. cocoa
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. sour cream

FROSTING

6 tbsp. milk
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 stick butter
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts (optional)

CAKE: Bring first 3 ingredients to boil. Remove from heat. Add hot to remaining ingredients. Pour into greased and floured jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Frost immediately upon removing from oven.

FROSTING: Bring first 3 ingredients to boil. Remove and beat in sugar and vanilla. Add nuts, if desired. Pour quickly over cake while both frosting and cake are hot. Let cool before cutting.

So, I am being extremely brave by saying this, but this is my first Kristen Callihan book I have ever read. And my only question is WHY?? What rock have I been hiding under that I have not read any of her books before?!?!

I absolutely loved Idol. I have come to realize I have slight obsession with the rockstar romance, but it has to be written perfectly. Otherwise, I am extremely judgmental. And Kristen, well she rocks this one!!

Killian is part of the band Kill John. He becomes a lawn ornament on Liberty Bell’s lawn one day. And well, she gives him the welcome of a lifetime. Only to find out that he is also her new neighbor. However, she is unaware of who he is.

Libby tends to keep to herself and doesn’t get out much. She’s not exactly a hermit, but she’s definitely anti-social. Libby is dealing with the loss of her parents and has a hard time moving forward from that.

Killian is on “vacation” when he literally crashes into Libby (or her yard). His band is sort of working things out and he’s lost his feeling to play anymore. That is until one night he hears Libby and everything comes into focus.

Libby blows Killian way with her voice, song writing ability and her grace on the guitar. She lights the fire that he thought was gone. These two have amazing jam sessions and begin writing songs and music together.

Killian and the boys are ready to go back on tour and Killian pulls Libby out of her funk and brings her on the tour with them. Not just to be by side, but to help her realize that her music isn’t a hobby, but a talent that everyone needs to hear. But as with every relationships – there are many highs and lows, up and downs. Especially when both are in the lime light of fame.

What I loved most about this book was how mature these characters were. They didn’t play childish games. They didn’t allow the world to infiltrate them. And their relationship blossomed from a solid base. They didn’t just jump into bed together – it was a true connection that gave them something to see it was more than lust. Don’t get me wrong, the sex scenes were hot, but a lot of it had to do with the honest and real love they had that made these scenes even steamier.

Another part that pulled me to this book was how well the music was written in this book. It’s not just the mentioning of the songs, but their interpretations and the feelings and vibes each of those songs has to someone. I LOVED THAT!!!

All in all, this book is 100% perfect for me in the rockstar romance!!! It’s very well rounded and has so much awesomeness, I couldn’t put it down once I started. This book can be read as a standalone in this series. I can’t wait to see what Kristen brings us next!

“You know,” I say conversationally, as I kick back, “I want to fuck you right now.”
Libby jerks as if pinched and sits a little straighter, before getting a hold of herself and slouching as if she’s completely chill. Cute.
She gives me a smirk and sips her water before drawling, “And what? Mark your territory? Assert your manly dominance?”
“Yep.” I slide my gaze to hers. “But mostly I just want to fuck you all the time.”
God, I love the way her lips part and body flushes with heat. So subtle, but there all the same. It makes me hard as steel, my balls squeezing tight. I don’t look at her but pretend I’m observing the room. The lights are dimming for the movie now, the empty chairs in front of us obscuring our lower halves.
Slowly my hand falls to space between us and smooths along her hip. She delicately shivers as my fingers trace down her thigh.
“What about you,” I murmur, lightly toying with her skirt in the darkening room. “You want to fuck me, baby doll?”
“Right now, I want to kick you,” she gets out between clenched teeth. “Keep your hands to yourself. There are nosy ass people everywhere.”
“They’re all watching the movie. Not us.” Focusing on the screen, I keep my expression neutral as I ease my hand under her skirt. Her skin is smooth and warm. The movie starts in a blast of music and the familiar old logo as I trace over her knee and up her soft thigh. “And that wasn’t a ‘no.’”
She makes a cute growl in the back of her throat, but her legs part just enough to give me room to delve between them. Her inner thighs are hot and damp, and my cock twitches.
The storyline rolls along, my touch idly roams. Libby remains utterly still but I can practically feel the tension vibrating within her. When the tip of my finger skims the crease where her thigh meets her hip, her breath catches, legs parting wider.

I was so excited to jump into this book after Amanda contacted me asking if I could read this in exchange for an honest review. And she went beyond my expectations.

Remi’s Choice is a love triangle but not what you would think. Travis and Remi have known each other since they were kids – she used to babysit him and his younger brothers. But then he’s quickly pulled from their lives and she never hears from him again.

Kris is Travis’ cousin but they aren’t exactly close and when Kris moves in with Travis’ family, he becomes close to Remi. Kris and Remi build on their friendship and just when Remi is finally ready to give Kris more, Travis rolls back into Remi’s life. But will Remi make the right choice? The man who is very right for her or the man who’s willing to be her everything?

I love how Amanda works this plot out. Its not an easy, that’s for damn sure. Remi is torn and really, can you blame the woman?? Two extremely hot Italian men want her! *fans self* What I really enjoyed was being able to read this book from all three of their POV’s. You get to see Remi’s struggle with what she wants and what she feels is right. Travis’ indecision to fight for what he wants or continue on the path he was on. Kris’ inner battle with himself – is he reading too far into things or is it really just the stress of both their new jobs causing the tension?

Amanda makes her characters feel very real – their decisions, interactions and how they handle things makes this book very life-like. She kept them true to who they are. Just because a girl walks into their lives, they don’t become a totally different person or start acting totally different.

I enjoyed reading everything play out like I was watching a movie. I could easily picture every scene. And some of those sex sense – WOAH!! I really liked every bit of this book!

I can’t wait to see what she brings us next!
