The best part of that is knowing that when we start over, we have someone there the next time. And the next.” He sighed and this time he cupped my cheeks with his warm hands. I hadn’t taken the time to really enjoy the way his big hands felt when they touched me. Any part of me. I needed to. “This is the beauty of Infinity. This. Us. Knowing we will always find one another again.”

I had no words. None.

He bent his forehead to mine and closed his eyes. My body shuddered as his sigh washed over me, then he tilted his head up and pressed his lips to my forehead.

“I meant what I said earlier,” he whispered against my skin, the position keeping me from being able to see his face. “I have always loved you. And I always will.” It hit me all at once then. His words felt like goodbye, and it terrified me. My hands came up of their own accord, grabbing his back near his shoulders as if I could hold him to me…as if I could keep us together by sheer force of will.

But I couldn’t find my voice. My fear choked me and kept me from saying the words that would make him stay.

Maegan despises writing about herself in the third person. She also hates touting her accomplishments like she thinks she’s really done anything special…

Now that we got that out of the way, I’ll tell you what you need to know. I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I went back to school in my late twenties and studied Stage Production Technology. I now work full-time in the alterations shop of a major department store and part-time backstage in the various theatres around the area.

I’ve been an avid reader from a very young age and the top goal on my list of things to accomplish in my life was to write and publish a book. During the summer of 2013, while working backstage on The Lion King, I read eleven books in four weeks. I read my first New Adult book and was introduced to a genre I felt I could totally relate to. CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.

This is my first book by Heather C Leigh so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I didn’t read reviews of her previous books because I didn’t want others opinions to persuade me in any direction. I wanted to go in blind and be surprised by reaction. And surprised I was.

I was expecting a very dark and twisted story, and I got that. But I was not expecting the surprising heartfelt gestures from the drug lord. And he himself was surprised by what he was doing, but he knew deep down why.

Boss is Austin’s king drug lord and he’s ruthless. He killed his predecessor before him and knows what it takes to maintain his rule. Miri is the junkie who somehow finds herself at his doorstep going through the beginning stages of withdrawal from heroin.

Surprising himself, Boss takes in Miri and has this overwhelming need to take care of her. Boss has not been able to forgive himself of things in his past and he’s hoping that Miri is his way of fixing those wrongs. However, Miri proves to be quite the spitfire when she’s not jonesing for a fix.

The dynamics between Boss and Miri are quite interesting. These two definitely go nose to nose a few times and the fire between them is stoked, ALOT. But Miri know that nothing comes free in the drug world.

The history of both Miri and Boss really play into this story. It explains a lot of how they got to this point and the decisions they continue to make. Even though these two are completely different, there attraction couldn’t be any more intense. But Boss knows that in the drug world, anything you are extremely protective of, will also become your biggest weakness.

I love the story that Heather has developed and I am quite intrigued as to how all this will play out in the next book, Jagger.

Boss gives Miri a hit

Despite Miri’s disgusting appearance, her nasty addiction to heroin, and the
fact that her maybeboyfriend had been stealing from me to feed her habit, I felt
responsible for her. It was my shit she got hooked on, and she just seemed… frail
and in need of someone to take care of her. It was almost as if she were sent here as
penance for my past failures to take care of my mom and sister.
Besides, Miri intruded on my property. She knew where I lived. I couldn’t
just toss her out. It was highly unlikely, but she could call the cops and get them
down here with a warrant in the blink of an eye.
Better to get her dosed up and calmed down before trying to talk.
“Jase,” I barked.
One of my men immediately appeared at my side. “Yes, Boss.”
“Bring me the kit.”
With a sharp nod, he left the room and reappeared in less than two minutes
to hand me a small zippered pouch. “Here you go, Boss.”

“All of you leave,” I ordered as I began prepping the kit. One by one, I lined
the items up on the table, in the order I would need them. Everyone obeyed my
command but one.
“Boss, come on…”
“Milo, don’t push me any further tonight.” I turned to give my lieutenant a
dark stare that said don’t fuck with me. He better not press his thoughts in front of a
stranger.
Milo’s lips pressed tight as he struggled to keep his mouth shut and follow
my orders. Nothing new from the big, strongwilled man. He was very opinionated
at times. Tense and agitated, Milo gave in and agreed. “Fine. I’m going home then,
Boss.”
“See you in the morning.” I dismissed Milo and returned my attentions to
the sweaty, gross, trembling girl in my kitchen.
Using an alcohol pad, I wiped my hands to kill any germs. Then I picked up
a tiny packet of white powder, careful not to spill any, and poured it into a spoon
designed to lie on a flat surface without tilting. The rubber tourniquet was long
compared to Miri’s razorthin arm. I knotted it around the tiny limb, holding back a
pained grimace at touching her filthy skin. When I glanced up to check on her, I
found Miri watching intently. I blinked and tore my gaze away from those wide
green eyes to search for a vein. There wasn’t a single usable one on her
scarriddled arm.
“Shit,” I muttered when an inspection of her other arm turned up the same.
“II use my feet.” Miri’s voice was so soft I nearly missed her response.
Caught in the sliver of emerald in those captivating eyes, it took me a minute
to reply.

“All right.” I removed the tourniquet, put it around a slender ankle, and
placed her left foot on the floor to get better blood flow to the extremity. A single
bluish vein stood out, surrounded by a halfdozen faded and fresh track marks.
“There it is.” I grabbed another alcohol pad and swabbed the area. Syringe in hand,
I uncapped a vial of sterile water and drew up a small amount, adding it to the
powered opiate in the spoon. Using a lighter, I cooked the drugs until the mixture
was reduced to a clear, bubbling liquid. As I waited for the chemicals to cool, Miri
became frantic.
“IIt’s okay. I ccan take it hot. Really. II don’t mind. Please…”
“No.” I shook my head. “It’s not safe. You could blow a vein or worse.”
“I don’t care! Give it to me.” She started to struggle in the chair, in danger of
tipping it over again.
Fed the fuck up with today’s events and bullshit in general, I caught her chin
between my thumb and forefingers and pinched hard enough to hold her still.
“Stop this immediately or you’ll get nothing. Listen carefully, because I’m
only going to say it once. I’m never, ever hospitable to intruders, so you should
consider yourself lucky to still be breathing right now and not being driven to a
remote location where no one will ever find your body.”
Those dull eyes widened with fear and her lip trembled. “Okay, okay. I’m
ggood. I’ll be good. I’m ssorry.”
I ripped open another alcohol swab and wiped off my fingers. Filthy junkie.
Once the mixture was cool, I drew it up into the syringe using a filtered needle and
made sure the air was out.
“Ready?” I’m not sure why I bothered—I knew the answer before the
question was asked.
“Yes, please, please, please.” Miri vibrated with anticipation.

Despite the fact I grew up around drugs, despised drug use, watched my
family implode from drug addiction and never once allowed anyone to get high in
my house or permitted drug use among my employees, I went against everything I
believed personally and stuck the needle into the vein on Miri’s foot. I pulled back
to watch as dark red blood entered the syringe. With visual confirmation I hit a
vein, I removed the tourniquet and slowly injected the opiate into her system until
the syringe was empty. Working efficiently, I cleaned up the kit, put the used items
in a container for the staff to dispose of, and washed my hands at the sink.
Then I sat down and waited.

Let me give you a fair warning that you are not going to like Alejandro at all. Oh he will intrigue you and make you want to figure out how this all plays out, but you will not like him. You will loathe him, despise him and that’s putting it mildly. But that’s why I love this book so much.

As with all her books, M is never one to let us down in the angst, drama and oh holy fucking shit scenes. In all honesty, in some ways, she has upped her game when it comes to truly writing a ruthless and despicable character. And I love her for that. I won’t give away details of this book but I will let you know what kind of man and heroine you can expect.

“You were never supposed to be in my life. I was never supposed to be in yours. But fate brought us together and it was only a matter of time before destiny destroyed us.”

Alejandro is El Diablo, The Devil, in the flesh and blood. He cares about no-one and nothing. He is the most feared and the most wanted man in the states. He knows that he’s a walking dead man, but that doesn’t stop him from doing anything. If anything, he feels that warrants him the ability to do anything without so much as another thought.

Lexi pretty much grew up on her own. She knew how to live and survive in this world on her own. And when it came Alejandro, she knew to never show fear. However, she forgot to never show anything else. Alejandro was an enigma to her and she was untouchable to him.

“This was our ending, when it should have been our beginning.”

I really liked that this book is told from both their POV’s and shows how everything began since they were kids. Never once are you confused and the pace moves along perfectly. And I promise you, do not expect the typical when it comes to Alejandro. He’s El Diablo and he never fails in showing exactly why he’s called that – even when it comes to Lexi.

“Go stretch again, cariño,” I ordered in a dominant tone. Nodding to the barre.
“I’m fine,” she stubbornly replied. Shaking her legs and arms out. Getting back into position, looking at me through the mirror.
I cocked my head to the side, arching an eyebrow. She narrowed her eyes at me, but begrudgingly listened. I pressed play, allowing the melody to once again take over. She placed her leg on the lowest barre, making her ass stick out in my direction.
Tempting me.
She closed her eyes, needing to get lost in the music, wanting to push away all the negative thoughts, already feeling discouraged. I stood, taking off my suit jacket. Rolling up the sleeves of my collared shirt as I stepped onto the hardwood floor. I slowly came up behind her, catching her off guard.
She froze, turning around, opening her eyes. Peering up at me through her lashes. “What are you doing?”
I leaned forward against her ear, grinning. “I’m helping you stretch.” Getting down on my knees in front of her.
Her eyes dilated. The feeling of disappointment replaced with nothing but lust. She placed her arms out to the side, resting up against the barre, supporting her weight. I grabbed her ankle, lifting it up in the air, rubbing along her leg as it was fully stretched, before setting it on the lowest barre. Running my other hand up her side, easing her over toward the extended leg. She understood what I was doing, reaching for her ankle, stretching. Standing back up, bringing her arms above her head, I caressed along her leg again, casually turning her torso so her leg was still placed on the barre behind her.
Her breathing hitched as I touched her all over her lower body. My lips softly kissing the inside of her thigh to where she wanted my mouth the most.

Sally Thorne’s debut novel, The Hating Game, was recommend by the amazing Tessa Bailey. My thinking is, if an author you adore says READ THIS BOOK, you READ THAT BOOK. This is by far one of my favorite reads of not only 2016, but honestly, ever! I devoured it in about six hours. I laughed, cried and yelled more than once during this read. Then I promptly did what all good readers do when they become obsessed with a book, I stalked Sally Thorne on Goodreads, Facebook, IG and Twitter.

Lucy Hutton and Josh Templeman live to hate each other. The clock started on their hating game the moment their struggling publishing companies merged last year. He views her overly friendly personality as weak and allows people to take advantage of her. She can’t stand the fact that he never smiles and is constantly brooding and complaining about the staff at Bexley-Gamin. Both are executive assistants to the co-CEOs and both are plotting their next move to ensure they are promoted for a new coveted position up for grabs. Problem is, there can only be one Chief Operating Officer. The game changes course after a team building exercise of paintball takes Lucy out of commision for the weekend and Josh steps in to take care of her. Lucy learns there may be more to Josh’s surly attitude when his past starts to collide with his present. Can she guard her heart when the game shifts from hate to something else? AHHHHHHHHHH!! Yes, that is all I can say after finishing this book. AHHHHHHHH!

What in the ever loving hell did I just read????? I am so freaking out right now, I don’t think I can wait til January of 2017 to read what happens next. OMG!!!

I didn’t think things could get any more twisted or intense, even when certain things are starting to come together. I am still just as crazed out as I was before.

Charli is back at Montague Manor and is now acting the role of Alex once again. She has to for her mother’s health. Nox is extremely unhappy because he doesn’t have control of the situation and is literally left in the dark as to what is going on at Montague.

There is so much going on – some questions are answered while even more secrets are revealed. AHHHHHH! See, there I go again. It’s just mind-blowing how Aleatha is able to come up with all this mind-fuckery (yes I just made up that word). But some of these characters I swear are certifiable sociopaths. They have no moral compass and their treachery has no depth it won’t go.
