Cash’s POV“Stay.”

It’s uttered so quietly, I assume she’s dreaming. Without turning to look at her, I take another step out of the room.

“Please.”

There is a desperate sound in her tone that seizes my heart and traps the air in my lungs. Turning back, I go to the side of the bed and crouch down, so I’m eye-level with her. Street will let you go out of her grips and you will feel just as beaten down as Ryann Sinclair. K. Street wrote this book so vividly and with such emotion that it was just amazing! I wish I could really describe how beautifully written this book was. Street took an unapproachable subject matter and wrote it beautifully with such grace and style. I felt every emotion the characters did-happiness, sadness, broken, love, and the feeling of just giving up. To be able to feel of that while reading is truly unique and my hat is off to K. Street for making that possible.

Healing the Broken was not a rushed love story and truly did not leave any emotion unturned. When an author can make you see exactly what they are writing, to actually be able to visualize the events and actions let alone the characters, is truly an amazing gift.

Ryann Sinclair is not your ordinary character. She is trying to forget her past. However, her horrific past is what makes her strong but also can break her at any moment. Normally I see characters that are broken, cry and fall apart but Ryann has a badass side to her! Ryann also as a huge wall up that only Cash can penetrate.

Cash is well- just say hello to your new book boyfriend. Whew and let me tell you to have a man stand behind you, support you and be there for you in your best and darkest moments- isn’t that what we all want ladies? Cash is that guy. I adore this story and couple because there is not a moment he leaves her. When she pushes him away- he stays! I love that. I love that he never says enough of this. I love that K. Street doesn’t make them a typical couple in a romance novel.

I enjoyed this sweet and sassy story. Jameson and Ashton have grown up beside one another. He’s her brother’s best friend. Yes, I know this cliché is starting to run its course, but I liked Andrea’s take on it. Neither have really pined after the other one throughout the years. It’s just that one night that changed everything between them.

They’ve kept their distance as much as possible and have learned to deal with one another when they’re together since they do have the same circle of friends. But now due to a freak accident, Ashton finds herself having to live with Jameson until her house is repaired. And then they add something in their new roommate status…..

” ‘One Rule.’

‘Fine, what?’

‘Monogamy. No sleeping with others. If you meet someone and want to hook up, you tell me first and this ends.’

‘Deal. But, I have one too.’

‘Oookkkaayyy,’ I reply.

Jameson and Ashton are quite a pair together. They both are fighting the same battle towards each other but never realizing the other is having the same issues. They have some work to do in the communications department and they both know it. They just refuse to truly accept what they are feeling, not only to themselves but to one another.

Andrea writes quite the funny and sassy story between these two. There are no short of jabs and witty come backs in this book. It’s funny how two people who are so compatible are completely blind to it themselves. Andrea brings everything full circle in the end and I feel she pulled it all together in a nice pace. Nothing was rushed and everything fell into place.

Great follow up to the first book. I am looking forward to Owen and Landon’s books!!!

We spent the entire weekend at the
lake eating, drinking, and swimming. It’s a tradition that we maintain to this day. On the
final night of the weekend, Jameson and I were the last two awake by the fire. I think together
we managed to consume an entire bottle of tequila. And, as it often is, the alcohol was a sort of
truth serum for us.

We started a game of Truth or Dare,
which never quite mustered a dare. Until the end. Truths varied from cheating on history tests to
sneaking in after curfew and even first crushes. I admitted to my fear of small children and
Jameson admitted his fear of a woman dressed in head-to-toe leopard. We laughed and we
cried. Tears from laughter, not sadness.

Then he asked me the final truth or
dare as I took my last shot and handed him the bottle.

“Truth or Dare,
Ash?”

“Hmmm. Well,
considering we’ve just demolished a bottle of tequila, neither seems like a good idea.
I’m likely to break a leg or make an ass of myself.”

“I’d go with the
ass part. I don’t think either of us wants a lecture from Piper if we have to go to the
hospital.”

“Ain’t that the
truth. Okay then. Truth it is. Hit me.”

“Do you ever think about
kissing me?”

Seconds that feel like minutes
pass between us. Something glimmers in his eyes as he asks me. Screw it, I can always blame

rose from the tiny canvas stool that lined the outside of the medical tent, my legs not the least bit tired from holding a chair squat for the past twenty minutes while I’d waited for the new camp doc, who was not earning any points from me since he was running late. I had stuff to do. Stuff that didn’t include waiting on a scrap of fabric that would have been lucky to hold a mortal man of my size. That was another fun fact for the god/goddess trivia book—we weighed significantly more than a mortal the same stature. It had something to do with our bodies being solid muscle, and nothing like the kind of muscle humans possessed. Our muscles were heavier, stronger, and impenetrable—fitting since we were immortal beings.

I didn’t say anything as the nurse lifted the tent curtain for me. Neither did she. She’d been trying to get into my bed since she’d first started her rotation a few months ago. I’d told her I hadn’t signed up with World Corps, and travelled to third world countries on various outreach missions, to get laid. I’d been nice about it. The first dozen times. The last dozen, I’d been curter with my replies, which might have explained the reason she was looking at me like she wanted to drive a scalpel through my eye.

Good luck with that. Immortal being. Meaning cannot die. By scalpel to the cornea or any other method.

Believe me, I’d put it to the test.

The landscape directly below Frenchman’s Cliff would never be the same. It looked like some meteor had fallen there, carving a crater where the ground had been level before my attempt to challenge my immortal state of being.

My Review:

Under Pressure is the debut in a new spin-off series from Lori Foster, an author I always love reading. Under Pressure kicks off the Body Armor series with a sexy, thrilling, and exciting start. I loved it!

The book opens with Cat (Catalina) on the run and trying to get into hiding in an attempt to save her life. Hired to be the one to protect her, Leese steps in, and immediately the sparks start to fly. Once the mystery start to unfold as to who is after Cat and what exactly they are in for, I was hooked. I mean when you’ve got wealth, power, scandal, and murder, how could I not be? I loved Leese and his loyal, cool under pressure, sexy style. I love Cat’s ability to take a stand for what was right and her non nonsense attitude when it came to speaking her mind. Together the sexual tension was off the charts and I loved the push and pull between them in Cat making no bones about her attraction and Leese trying to keep a professional distance (of course I’m sure you can guess it won’t last the whole book 😉 ) From start to finish this was a great read!

I also have to say how much I loved seeing some of our old friends from Ms. Foster’s Ultimate series. That crew of fighters is still one of my faves!

With developed characters and plot filled with thrilling excitement, I know you’ll love Under Pressure as much as I did!

As a military spouse, the charity Homes For Our Troops is close to my heart. Matt continued to silently stare at her.
“Please say something,” she prompted nervously, chewing on her bottom lip.
“I…I don’t know if I can do that.”
A nervous chuckle came out before she could stop it. “What – you mean you don’t know if you can say anything?”
He shook his head. “I don’t know if I can start over.”
Vivienne was completely confused. “Why not? I think it would be a good thing. For both of us.”
“I disagree,” he said, resting his elbows on the table so he could lean his cheek in the palm of his hand.
“I don’t understand why…”
“I kind of like where we are right now. I don’t want to pretend the past didn’t happen. I’m enjoying the banter we have and the way I find it so easy to talk to you. I think if we ignore that night – that kiss – then we’re both denying a part of who we are.”
Well damn. That was a pretty powerful declaration, she thought. “But…it wasn’t me that night,” she argued. “I honestly don’t know why I did any of it. This is who I am,” she said, patting herself on the chest. “I’m an introvert who likes things neat and orderly. I hate chaos, and I plan out everything. I hate leaving anything to chance, and I rarely take risks. I like my world to be predictable and organized. I make lists, and I like to check things off. The person you’re remembering, doesn’t really exist.”
“Again, I disagree.”
“Ugh,” she groaned and stood to clear the table. “Do you deliberately go out of your way to make things difficult all the damn time?”
Matt stood and helped her with the dishes. “Viv, I’m not trying to make anything difficult. If anything, I’m simplifying things. You came to see me. We kissed. We didn’t see each other for a while. Now we’re both here and we kissed again.” He placed the dishes in the dishwasher before turning and looking at her again. “And – if we’re completely honest for the sake of keeping things simple – we’re both still attracted to one another.”
Great. She wanted to stamp her foot and tell him to leave, but she would only be proving his point. So now what?
“I…I don’t know what it is you want me to say to that,” she admitted. And if she wasn’t mistaken, he almost looked pleased.
“What I want is for you to tell me I’m not wrong. That this isn’t all completely one-sided.” Before she could answer, however, he started speaking again. “But I’ll understand if you’re not ready to yet. I can be patient, Vivienne, and I believe you’re worth waiting for.”
And then, in a move that took her totally by surprise, Matt leaned down and placed a whisper-soft kiss on her cheek before stepping back. “I know you have some shopping to do and errands to run. I’m going to go back over to Aaron’s and relax and maybe watch a little TV. When you’re ready to start working on dinner, let me know, and I’ll come over and help.”
All Vivienne could do was nod and watch him walk out the door.
