Sweet Victory has all the elements I love in a story, a MMA fighter, a fun outgoing girl that I would even hang out with and a story full of passion. I love that this continues Gina L. Maxwell series on the MMA fighters and it can be read as a stand alone.

Xander and Sofia each own a business in a retail development that her uncle is trying to sale right from underneath them. Fearing that they will lose their beloved businesses (Xander’s gym and Sofia’s bakery) they decide to do the one thing that can stop her uncle from selling- get married and end it as soon as the time line is up. These two find themselves not only finding friendship with one another but also hot sexy passion! It is really nice to get both perspectives on their relationship as it unfolds as well.

I was intrigued by the story line but felt like I could predict most of what was to come. Please remember, I do read on average 3 romance novels almost every week, so sometimes I just kind of know what will happen. However, if you love a love story playing out the way you hope and wished it would- you will LOVE this book. This is a fantastic series for any reader who loves series and getting to know all the characters as well as their personal stories. Gina L. Maxwell does a fantastic job of keeping the characters in each book and the best part is they are always H.O.T alpha males!

“Please,” I whispered, and leaned into his palm now cupping my cheek. His hands were strong. Long, tanned fingers that had made me think of naughty things like this for months.

Too complicated, he reminded himself. Too close.

I have found another series that I have fallen in love with!! Yes, I am reading a book in the middle of the series where I have not read any of the previous ones and now have this incredible itch to go back and read the others. J. Daniels is just that darn good people!!!

Yes, you can read this book and have not read of the other previous books to know what is going on. And yes, you will get hooked on these characters plus the rest of the gang and have this immediate need to go read their stories.

CJ – where do I start with this man? He’s IT!!! He’s hot, funny, sexy, and romantic! GAH!!! he’s your next book boyfriend!

Riley – she’s a sweetheart that you can’t help but love. I could easily find myself being really good friends with her. She’s got a bit of feistiness in her and she’s quite funny – those two combinations amp up her sexiness.

What made you want to become a writer? How early in life did you start writing?
As cliché as it sounds, I’ve wanted to become a write ever since I could remember. I wrote my very first book during algebra class in the 9^th Which is one I had to take remedial math in college, so….

Is there one piece of advice you would give an aspiring writer?
Put your head down and write.

Who is on your bookshelf?
A lot of authors. I’m actually out of bookshelf space. I have a mix of YA authors, everyone from Wendy Higgins to Veronica Roth, Cassie Clare to Brigid Kemmerer and Sarah J. Maas. I have a lot of New Adult and Adult authors. Jamie McGuire, Jay Crownover, Cora Carmack, Larissa Ione, JR Ward., Lara Adrian, and so on, so forth.

Can you tell us about one of the most memorable moments in your writing career thus far?
It’s really hard to pick just one, but I guess the most memorable moment was getting my first contract. That was the start of all of this.

Tell us about your newest release/current work in progress.
Currently working on my new HarperCollins adult novel called Moonlight Sins. I am having so much fun with the characters. The brothers are so bad and so, so much fun.

Tell us a little about your workshop at the Create Something Magical Conference.

I will be discussing writing multiple books while working with multiple publishers with Laura Kaye and will also be doing a Q&A.

I’m a huge Pepper Winters fan. I loved Crown of Lies so much and Throne of Truth was a good ending to the angst filled, love-lust hybrid story that is Penn and Elle. Good, but not fantastic. It literally PAINS me to write that because of all of the love and respect that I have for Ms. Winters (Pepper, if you’re reading this, I’m sorry. I love you, but I’m sorry!) I don’t want to go into too much detail because I don’t want to give anything away, but Pepper did an amazing job putting these two through the ringer! It was heart-wrenching to read about the struggles that Elle and Penn faced throughout their story, but I knew in the end that everything would be fine and that I would be happy with the outcome (I mean, if I could make it the whole way through Q, and still be happy, then I can literally do anything, amirite?) The ending was ramping up to be phenomenal! And it was, until it wasn’t anymore, and then it came back around to being good again. So yes, in the end I got what I wanted, but I just feel like there was a little extra fluff that was added in there unnecessarily. Seeing as how Ms. Winters is amazingly spectacular and (if I haven’t said so yet) I absolutely love her, I know that she finished the book exactly how she wanted to finish it. And rightly so, it’s her story and that is how it manifested itself to her. It just wasn’t as strong of an ending as I was looking for as a reader. If I haven’t said it before (ha!) I’ll say it again. Pepper, I love you and you’re amazing
