About LAWBREAKER:

Raised on the streets, Shay Morgan yearns for a real family, where love is unconditionally offered—even when trust doesn’t come easy. Before that day arrives, she trespasses and steals in order to provide for the few people who’ve gone out of their way to protect her.

Born to privilege, Ben Bishop loathes his family for the despicable things they’ve done, and not done. He vows to be different, play by the rules, do the right thing. Building a thriving nightclub with those who share his values dominates his world.

One explosive night at his bar, Loading Zone, changes everything. For both of them. Forever.

A dance of opponents commences as they thwart with suspicion, start to trust, then sidestep to protect themselves from a fatal blow. Until they soon wonder if they’ve been fighting for the same side all along.

As they begin to open their hearts, they up the stakes with a one-week pact. She shows him the power in breaking the law. He demonstrates the virtue of following it.

Then a far-reaching crime is suddenly exposed—that his family committed. And for one chance moment, Shay and Ben hold the key to right the wrong, correct the injustice. But at what cost?

Will they be able to return from the other side together? Or will their differences tear them apart?

Flirting with danger…has never been so tempting.

***LAWBREAKER is a standalone, full-length new adult romance told in dual POV. Due to mature themes and adult language, this book is for those 18 and older.***

My Review:

I have to tell you that I’ve been a huge fan of this writing duo for years now after falling in love with their Highland Legends series.  I was so excited when this series came out and I’ve been hooked from the very first book and this latest installment was just as awesome as I had hoped it would be.

I adored Shay and Ben.  Their journey is one filled with self-discovery, delicious sexual tension, emotion, and finding the happily ever after they both ultimately deserve.  From the very beginning, the push and pull between them had me knowing this was going to be one helluva read, and boy, was it ever.  I loved every minute!

While this book can be read as a standalone, I think the series as a whole is totally binge-worthy and highly recommend them all 🙂

Thank you, Kat and Stone, for another phenomenal read!

Got it Bad by Christi Barth….Review Tour Stop

Today we have the blog tour of GOT IT BAD! Check out the sexy new release and be sure to grab your copy today!

Title: GOT IT BAD

Author: Christi Barth

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About GOT IT BAD:

Kellan Maguire’s on the run from the mob, living a secret life. The only bright spot is his U.S. Marshal handler. Yeah, he wants to handle her….a lot. And in spite of all the rules it would break, Federal Marshal Delaney Evans secretly fears she’d risk everything for one night with Kellan. Even though Delaney’s career, her entire world, could implode if she admits how important he is to her. And all that is before the biggest complication of all hits…

My Review:

Christi Barth is an author I always love to read, and this whole trilogy was another great series of books from her.

While I’m sad to see the Maguire brothers go, this was a great send off.  I love a forbidden romance, and Kellan and Delany sure walked that line.  Falling for your U.S. Marshal handler, and giving in to the attraction that had been simmering for far too long definitely checks off that box and I loved it.  I adored getting to know more of these two characters and I really enjoyed watching them grow and develop, both on their own, and as a couple.  They were sexy and sweet together with a fun banter and undeniable chemistry…the whole package!

While this can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the entire trilogy to really experience the Maguire boys.

Thank you, Ms. Barth, for another amazing read!  I can’t wait to see what you cook up next!

Cyclone by Janie Crouch…ARC Review

Cyclone releases tomorrow, 9/24

Synopsis:

He’d protect her from any threat…
But what if the biggest threat is him?

Doctor Anne Nichols is back in Oak Creek, Wyoming, only because she has no other options. Here, she was always the shy, stuttering girl, invisible to everyone.

Except Zac Mackay. The very reason she left in the first place.

Zac’s years in Special Forces taught him survival skills, and he’s created a company—Linear Tactical—to teach those skills to others, so they never have to live in fear.

Then why is Annie, the last person he’d ever want to hurt, afraid of him?

Zac’s determined to wipe the fear from the eyes of the woman who has never been far from his mind. And fix the mistakes—his mistakes—that put that look there in the first place.

But a predator has set his sights on Annie. And now survival skills will become much more than lessons…

My review:

Cyclone is the first book in a new series from author Janie Crouch.  Admittedly this is the first of her works that I’ve read and I’m so happy to have found her.  I loved this book!

I’m a big fan of second chance romances, especially ones where the past between the hero and heroine is a bit messy, and Cyclone definitely checked those boxes off.  Anne left town years ago with a broken heart and a tattered sense of self-esteem.  Zac, unknowingly, was responsible for it. Now that they’re both back and living in the same small town, you can bet long-buried feelings are going to surface, for both Anne and Zac.  Working through those emotions and feelings take Anne and Zac on one helluva ride that had me experiencing all of the ups and downs as if I were right there in the book with them.

I loved Anne and her resiliency.  She’s one tough cookie but also has a vulnerable side I found wonderfully endearing.  Zac is all male with a huge sense of loyalty and a soft spot for the people he holds close.  His past is beyond sad and if anyone deserved a happily ever after, it’s definitely him.

Layered into the story is a mystery unfolding in the town where someone is assaulting women. As the story unfolds, the cases start to mount and begin escalating.  This suspense aspect had me glued to each page and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

You can bet that I’ll be keeping up with this series and I’m already looking forward to the next installment.  Thank you, Mrs. Crouch, for a fantastic read!

About CD Reiss:
CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.
Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.
She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

Two new authors (to me) in one week is a big leap for me – especially since I am not one to fall in line with books or authors that get this huge “hype” unless I have read them before.  And I have to say that this both authors lived up to the hype and then some.

Autumn Grey came onto my radar when the cover for her book, Breaking Gravity was released.  I was immediately spellbound by the cover alone and this urge to look into her work more.  No, I have unfortunately not been able to read that series yet (I have purchased the two that are released and will read at one point), but I immediately jumped at the chance to read desolate so I could get a taste of her writing.  And now I see why everyone loves her and her books.

On to the book!

Have you ever a read a book that just slowly pulls you in and under and has you gasping for breath as parts of the story unfold and leaves you feeling breathless??? That is desolate.

Desolate is very much a slow burn.  Autumn tells a beautiful story of how two individuals can so easily be aware of one another, yet never take the time to get to know the other one, personally.  Both Sol and Grace are kids with two different upbringings yet grew in the same town, went to the same high school and even same church.  Neither really talked to the other but they both definitely kept an eye on one another.

As they are both getting ready to start their adult lives after high school, things change, they change.  The buildup between them is lit with electricity – how neither acted upon sooner, is a true test to both their self control and also respect for one another.

Without saying anything else, this book was amazing and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book.  Autumn has delivered a highly emotional and heart-pulling story.  I loved watching everything play out between these – from the awkward glances in the beginning, to their outings, to where they are (read to find out) – it’s truly amazing.

You will feel everything these characters feel – not just towards one another, but their own battles.  Sol and his battle within himself to act or not act upon his feelings for Grace but also his commitment to God.  And Grace’s struggle to find her voice and prove she’s more than just this little town.

Autumn blends every aspect of this story perfectly and delivers an emotional story that I cannot wait to continue on.  Bring on the next book – I NEED IT!!!

AP new - synopsis.jpg

Ms. Romance, Hannah Arden, writes one of the top read relationship advice columns in the nation. Mr. Reality, Brooks North, writes the top read relationship advice column.

Ms. Romance believes in true love and soul mates. Mr. Reality believes love is a term humanity has assigned to the primal instinct to procreate. She believes in fate—he in chance. She knows there’s one right person for everyone—he knows there are multiple ones. The two writers couldn’t be more polarized on relationships. They’re professional rivals, and philosophical antagonists.

For eight years, their battles have been fought with words and ink. That changes when they apply for the same position at the World Times and find themselves face-to-face for the first time. Brooks isn’t the sour-faced, antiquity of a man Hannah pictured. And Hannah isn’t exactly the middle-aged shrew with cat hair on her housedress that Brooks imagined either.

In lieu of competing for the promotion traditional ways, the two writers are presented with playing the leading roles in a social experiment unlike any before. Can a person be tricked into falling in love? Can a relationship be crafted under the right string of circumstances? Hannah knows the answer. So does Brooks.

Agreeing to the terms, the two set out on a three-month dating experiment, live-streamed for the world to watch. All Hannah has to do to win is not fall in love with the narcissistic brute. All Brooks has to do is get the starry-eyed dreamer to fall in love with him. Both are so confident in their philosophies, they expect the challenge to be easy.

With the world watching, Brooks and Hannah will be forced to confront their beliefs and conclude, once and for all, who’s right. The answer is one neither of them saw coming.

“So?” His head lowered toward mine. “Have you fallen in love with me yet?”
A single-noted laugh escaped from me. “No. Sorry to burst your bubble.”
“You know it’s only a matter of time.”
“Before our three months are up and, lo and behold, I haven’t fallen madly in love with you?” I said. “Yeah, I know that.”
He held out my glass of cider, scooting closer. “Am I really that offensive?”
“Taken as a whole, no, you’re not. But taking this whole set-up into account, along with your beliefs that love is for weak-minded ninnies, then yes. You really are so offensive.”
A half smile emerged. “What do your readers think about this whole thing?”
“My readers definitely don’t want me falling for you,” I answered.
“But your readers love romance, and some handsome, roguish fellow taking your hand in a park while you’re dressed in a white dress is the definition of romance.” Right then, Brooks’s hand covered mine where it was resting on the blanket.
Instead of stiffening or whipping away, I found myself relaxing under his touch. The camera’s presence screamed at me from the corner of my eye.
“My readers believe in finding the one.” My hand slipped from beneath his. “Not the one who takes your hand and pretends to like you so he gets the promotion.”
“Who says I couldn’t be your one?”
I laughed. “Even I don’t need to run the numbers to know that has about a one-in-an-impossible chance of happening.”
Brooks slid his glasses onto his head, his eyes unapologetic in their stare. “You and me? You couldn’t see it?”
“Not even a little.” I had to look away. “When it’s right, you know it. You feel it.”
Brooks’s head shook before he took a drink of his cider. “I admit, it’s a nice idea. But don’t you feel it inside? The realization that it’s just not true?” He stared out at the park and the people in it.
I gazed with him, trying to ignore that pit opening up in my stomach. “I’d rather spend my life chasing a dream than swallowing a cruel reality.”
“You’d rather spend your life lying to yourself than being honest?” Brooks asked.
“I don’t think any of what I believe is a lie. Soul mates, unconditional love, happy endings—it’s all real.”
“Fairy tales,” he muttered under his breath. “So explain why a marriage dissolves after twenty years because of fifteen minutes of indiscretion.”
Reaching for my glass, I answered, “It wouldn’t have if he kept it in his pants.”
He blew out a sharp breath. “No, that’s like saying twenty years, our kids, our house, our finances, everything is worth less than that fifteen minutes of fucking.” His arms threw out, his tone rather impassioned. “That’s not unconditional love. That’s the very conditional kind.”
“You’re right. It is the conditional kind. On the part of the one who engaged in the fifteen minutes of extra marital . . .” I just caught the cameraman’s hands flailing before I said, “Screwing. That was one-sided unconditional love, and that never works in a relationship.”
One of his brows rose. “That’s a convenient explanation. But I’ll stick to my beliefs that all of that unconditional love junk is worth its weight in bullshit.”
I shot the cameraman an apologetic look—so much for keeping this date in the PG realm. “Then how do you explain the couples it has worked for? The ones who live a long, happy, committed relationship together.”
“I call it a case of two determined people willing to overlook each other’s weaknesses and not be hell-bent on changing or fixing the other, who’ve figured out a way to laugh at themselves, forgive easily—not to mention often—perfect the fine balance of selflessness and selfish, and on top of that, won the relationship lottery.” Brooks clinked his glass against mine before finishing what was left of his cider. “That’s how I explain that.”
I blinked at him. “Wow. Don’t hold back or anything.”
“That’s just half of it.”

This is my first book by K.K. Allen and she blew me away with this one.

I have wanted to give one of her books a try and picked this one because it centers around dance and with my daughter being a dancer, I wanted to see how detailed K.K. would get.

I was blown away by not just Theo and Lex’s story but by the details K.K. added about the dance world. You can see the passion that these dancers have for their love of dance – it oozes off the pages. I love the way K.K. has everything unfold and play out. It is so beautiful.

Theo is a world-renown dancer and choreographer. Lex has been dancing her whole life and has finally found the opportunity in LA to showcase her talent. Her dreams have always been to take classes from Theo but when she finally meets the man behind all the you-tube videos, she realizes that sometimes fantast is better than reality.

The dynamics between Theo and Lex are sizzling but not always for the good. Lex has no problems putting Theo in his place, regardless of where they stand professionally. I love the interactions with all the dancers and family environment that K.K. shows within a dance studio – it’s a beautiful thing to experience.

I know that I am not giving much away and that’s because you have to experience this book on your own. I devoured this book in no time. I was felt myself being swept away by the characters and their stories, both separately and together.

I wish I could explain accurately how much this book touched my heart and soul – it truly moved me. I love the story that K.K. gave us along with the dancing aspect that blended perfectly.

This is one book that everyone needs to read!

Keeping Him by Kennedy Fox….Release Day Blitz & Review

Jackson Bishop is your typical playboy.

Unpredictable, charming, and overly confident.

Growing up in Texas, the ranch life is all he’s ever known. Horses and late night partying are his lifestyles, and all the local girls know it too. Riding lessons aren’t the only things taught at the stables, and he makes sure clients never leave unsatisfied. Everyone knows Jackson’s a wild card, but not everything is as it seems. He may be a womanizer on the surface, but he’s hiding deep feelings about the one who’s had his heart since he was a teen. Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as roping her in and claiming her as his.

Kiera Young is well-known for her sassy nature and outgoing personality. Though she’s one of the best horse trainers in the area, she’s never been able to tame her best friend and the man she’s secretly loved since she was fifteen—Jackson Bishop. She’s waited years for him to confess his true feelings but as time goes on, she decides she’s done waiting. Kiera finally meets a man who promises to give her the world, and when he pops the question, she says yes—knowing they’re both ready to settle down and start a family.

Even if her heart beats for another man.

Jackson’s certain he’s lost Kiera for good and has no one to blame but himself. However, on the day of her wedding, he can’t bring himself to watch the woman he loves walk down the aisle to someone else. Kiera’s already having second thoughts and knows she can’t get married without his support. It’s not until she’s at the altar that she realizes she can’t let Jackson go and will do whatever it takes to keep him—even if it means running out on her own wedding.

Keeping Him was the book I was looking forward to the most in this series. It’s Jackson’s story and well, let’s just say I was not let down in anyway.

Jackson and Kiera have been friends forever and as they’ve grown older, they both have realized they feel more for each other. However, Jackson being Jackson was stubborn and kept Kiera as friend. Kiera chose to move on with her life and found Trent.

I won’t go into any of the specifics of this book. I refuse to give anything away because any book is best read unknown of details. Jackson and Kiera’s will frustrate you to end – their story is one wound with many obstacles and lots of drama!

I loved every bit of this story, even the parts that include Trent. However, I will state that my heart hurts for Trent. I personally want to believe that there is more behind is story and I will leave it at that (read to find out what I mean).

The duo of Kennedy Fox definitely saved the best for last in this series. Jackson and Kiera’s love story may have been wrought with a lot of trials and tribulations, but in the end, it was worth every emotion I felt.

Cover Reveal…Tragic by Devney Perry

Kaine Reynolds wants nothing more than solitude. After an unthinkable tragedy destroys his family, he’s cut off all ties to his former life so he can battle his grief the only way he knows how.

Alone.

So when Piper Campbell knocks on his door, rambling on about being his new neighbor, he slams the door in her face.

But Kaine’s gruff demeanor doesn’t scare her. She’s set on living in Montana and starting over after a terrible divorce. And she wouldn’t mind having a fling to chase away the pain of her husband’s betrayal. Her handsome, albeit rude, neighbor is the perfect candidate.

Yet what neither of them suspect is that their no-strings affair will result in the surprise of Piper’s lifetime—and Kaine’s worst fear.
