My Review:

I know I probably say this with every book Ms. Keeland writes, but this may be my favorite so far. I loved everything about this right-guy-wrong-time romance! Ford is absolutely swoon-worthy and is now the book boyfriend I shall forever measure all book boyfriends against. I lalalaloved him!

I loved so much about this book from the delish summer romance to the chemistry between Ford and Valentina that burned up the pages. From start to finish it was a delectable treat!

Last night he’d caught her off guard. Today—she came prepared and her walls were up. He couldn’t blame her. He’d left her. Been cruel. He’d seen her through good times and bad. She had the etiquette of a royal princess, the perfect manners of a debutante, but the girl could fight like a caged pit bull when she wanted something.

“I think it’s best we keep things professional. I take my job very serious, and I don’t want any complications. Let’s start fresh as work associates.” Her voice as distant as her eyes.

“Ah. So, this is how we’re going to play it,” he said with a chuckle.

“Excuse me? I’m not quite sure how to act around you, Jackson. You show up here out of nowhere, and you’re judging my behavior?”

“Since when do you have to act a certain way?”

“What? I don’t. You’re taking things out of context. I’ve never had a client who happened to be an ex-boyfriend. This is a first for me.”

“I’ve never had a problem being your first.” Yep, it would get a reaction. They needed to get past the awkward bullshit and hash it out. Forcing her to engage would be his best bet.

She clenched her jaw. “I see you’re still an asshole.”

“Ahhh—There she is.”

“Meaning?”

“Meaning, you need to stop putting on airs.” Using his index and middle fingers on each hand and bending twice, he fought back a smile.

“Are you seriously using air quotes on me? How ridiculous are you?” She jumped up and stormed over to her desk.

“I’d say I’m pretty fucking ridiculous.” His fingers intertwined behind his head, he leaned back to enjoy the show.

Goddamn, this woman only got sexier when she was pissed. He remembered how feisty she could be, but she appeared more controlled and refined now. He didn’t miss the way she struggled to rein in her emotions, jamming things into her desk drawer now.

First, a stapler. A pencil. A couple of files.

She picked up her water bottle and tipped her head back, taking a long, slow sip. His heart pounded in his chest. He yearned to taste her soft lips. Maybe it would get him through the next decade. Flutter is the third book in The Nash Brothers series and the one I have been looking forward to the most.

Forrest is the computer nerd brother and twin of Fletcher (37 seconds older). He’s always felt like the odd one out and has kept to himself since no-one understands how his brainiac mind works. He’s always been the one trying to hack into companies and gov’t to find their weaknesses until he got caught. Instead of being sent to jail, they chose to his skills for good and now he finds himself on the other side of the law.

Penelope has been a widower for the last few years after her husband passed away while defending the country. His death is something that she has struggled with over the years; she’s always been pretty much a single mom even when he was alive, just serving overseas. So it wasn’t a huge adjustment for her to raise their three boys alone, but it was accepting that he was never coming home that took longer.

Forrest always crushed on Penelope when they were younger but she never saw him as more than annoying. Now that she is ready to move forward in her life, Forrest decides that since he isn’t looking for anything permanent and Penelope wants to keep things between them, friends with benefits is the best option for them. Until they both feel themselves wanting more, but never admit it to the other.

This is my favorite in the series so far. I love the banter between Penelope and Forrest and that just adds to the whole sexual vibe between them. As Forrest and Penelope figure out what’s going on between them, Forrest is still working cases for the police and the one they put him on recently is the toughest case yet for him. I love the added mystery with this story and that just adds another layer in this book.

Carrie definitely nailed this book perfectly. I loved how everything played out and how naturally and organically things moves for Penelope and Forrest. I can’t wait to read the final book!

Synopsis:

At the height of WWII, five idealistic young Americans receive a mysterious letter from the OSS, asking them if they are willing to fight for their country. The men and women from very different backgrounds–a Texan athlete with German roots, an upper-crust son of a French mother and a wealthy businessman, a dirt-poor Midwestern fly fisherman, an orphaned fashion designer, and a ravishingly beautiful female fencer — all answer the call of duty, but each for a secret reason of his or her own. They bond immediately, in a group code-named Dragonfly.

Soon after their training, they are dropped behind enemy lines and take up their false identities, isolated from one another except for a secret drop-box, but in close contact with the powerful Nazi elite who have Paris under siege.

Thus begins a dramatic and riveting cat-and-mouse game, as the young Americans seek to stay under the radar until a fatal misstep leads to the capture and the firing-squad execution of one of their team. But…is everything as it seems, or is this one more elaborate act of spycraft?

My Review

Carefully researched and full of riveting details of the motivations and camaraderie of five young OSS operatives, Leila Meacham’s Dragonfly draws the reader into the intrigue and risk of World War II’s legendary spies. A must read for fans of historical fiction, Dragonfly is tough to put down.

That said, the style of the book occasionally reads more like young adult fiction, lacking some of the grit of traditional spy novels and relying on some extreme coincidences for a tidy ending.

Definitely worth a read, though maybe not the price of a hardcover copy…

My Review:

Being a big fan of Ms. Griffin’s work, I was so excited to get my hands on her newest release, HER DEADLY SECRETS, and let me say I was NOT disappointed!

This story was a stellar example of romantic suspense done right! A perfect and delicious mix of romance, mystery, murder and mayhem. I adored our heroine and found our hero a perfect fit and was on the edge of my seat while reading. All in all it was a perfectly rounded out package that delivered a real punch.

I cannot wait to see what Ms. Griffin has in store for us next.
