Blurb

My world was rock solid.

Until I saw her.

Lara Kessler showed up as if heaven sent her to me, and suddenly my priorities changed. Love is funny like that. One minute you’re living the dream, then BAM! Half my soul shows up backstage wearing a purple shirt and sexy skin-tight jeans, making me realize what I’ve been missing all along. Loving her means exposing a life I’ve tried to bury.

My heart had lost its beat.

Until I saw him.

Kaz Fabian caught my attention the moment I laid eyes on him. Love is funny like that. The famous guitarist was every woman’s fantasy—great face, chiseled jaw, cut biceps. The rock star was pure sex on and off stage, but his charm and charisma won me over. Loving him means burdening him with a life I’ve tried to leave behind.

With her future dim and his past in the spotlight, can they overcome their fate or will they just be another tragic love story?

Young handsome couple kissing

Excerpt

The woman I’ve fantasized about is finally in my bed. The one who’s starred in my dreams and I’ve imagined when fucking others. She’s here, lying next to me and I can’t sleep.

My chest hurts while watching her. She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen and equally the most fascinating. She teases and jokes, flirts… and she trusts me. She trusts me with her life. That’s what brought her here tonight. I would do anything for her and she knows it.

I sit up and scrub my hands over the way-too-long scruff that covers my face. She stirs beside me, making me want to stay. I really should, but I just can’t stay here any longer…

A promise is a promise and all that. But some promises are worth breaking. This is one of them.

my-review

I have to start this review by saying that S.L. Scott did a wonderful job writing about a subject matter that is shameful and hidden by victims. Without giving anything away, it is truly a book well written that shows the raw emotions of victims from the inside out. With that being said, this book is a love story and a couple who really can get hit with surprises along the way but stand together through it all.

Lara Kessler is by far one of the strongest characters written. She is an interior decorator who gets the pleasure of decorating Kaz Fabian’s new home in Hollywood. A home that is empty and needs a splash of love. Lara has the most unselfish feelings and love for Kaz which makes for great love scenes between the two. However, the unselfish nature Lara has becomes a protective nature for herself and Kaz.

Kaz, a famous, guitarist for a rock group finds himself right in the middle of Lara’s past. However, Kaz Fabian is determined to make Lara his and stands by her side when she needs it the most. He is not only loyal but completely understanding. I adore him!

These two have been through some really rough times and each one of them hides their past but it is their past that makes them understand, love and do anything necessary for each other. The Revolution is filled with the unexpected and well worth your time!

Meet S.L. Scott

s.l. scott

New York Times and USA Bestselling Author, S. L. Scott, was always interested in the arts. She grew up painting, writing poetry and short stories, and willing her days away lost in a good book and the movies.

With a degree in Journalism, she continued her love of the written word by reading American authors like Salinger and Fitzgerald. She was intrigued by their flawed characters living in picture perfect worlds, but could still debate that the world those characters lived in were actually the flawed ones. This dynamic of leaving the reader invested in the words, inspired Scott to start writing with emotion while interjecting an underlying passion into her own stories.

Living in the capital of Texas with her family, Scott loves traveling and avocados, beaches, and cooking with her kids. She’s obsessed with epic romances and loves a good plot twist. She dreams of seeing one of her own books made into a movie one day as well as returning to Europe. Her favorite color is blue, but she likens it more toward the sky than the emotion. Her home is filled with the welcoming symbol of the pineapple and finds surfing a challenge though she likes to think she’s a pro.

Excerpt

His hand slides to my back and he leans me toward the table, forcing me to catch myself on my elbows. He holds me there, his body cradling mine, his lips a breath from a touch. “I won’t let you fall.”

“I know,” I say, and I do now. Beyond time and reason, I trust this man.

His mouth brushes mine and then trails down my jaw, slowly teasing a path to my ear, where he whispers, “I’m not going to claim to own you the way he did.” He flattens his hands on my belly, possessiveness in the touch. “I’m just going to make you wish I did.”

My lips part with the erotic promise, and he is already kissing me, licking into my mouth, his tongue a sultry, seductive promise that he can make good on his vow. And while I do not wish anyone to own me again, I want what he offers in a way that defies reason.

He nips my lips and licks away the sweet ache, and somehow I feel that lick between my thighs where I am already wet and aching. His whiskers rasp on my cheek, down my neck to my shoulder, a wicked burn that is torment and pleasure at the same time. Like he is. His hands settle on my waist, lingering there, teasing me with all the places they could go, until finally he is caressing my body, up and down, a slow, sexy, torturous exploration.

He pinches my nipples again and he is not gentle, but I do not seem to want gentle. My sex clenches and my knees crush his hips. His lips curve to a small, satisfied smile that is wickedly sexy, and rawly male. He leans in and licks one of my throbbing nipples, sending a shiver down my spine, and I arch upward, the table biting into my elbows, but I do not care. He is sucking me, dragging deep on the knotted peak, and pleasure tingles through my nerve endings, my sex, forcing my legs to squeeze his hips again.

My arms tremble with my weight and he responds without me asking, moving closer and laying me on top of the table. My spine flattens on the hard surface and he lingers above me. “I want more.”

“More what?”

“Everything,” he says, his lips nuzzling my ear as he repeats, “Everything, Ella. Can I have it?”

The question affects me, but not as much as the way he waits, genuinely seeking my approval. He takes power but somehow gives it to me as well, and this is freedom to me, safety. Things I do not think I have often felt in my life. “Yes,” I whisper. “Yes.”

He inhales as if my approval surprises and pleases him, as if it is a gift he relishes, not a property he owns. And it is then that I give myself the freedom to just let go, the muscles in my body easing in ways they hadn’t before. I do give him everything. His mouth caresses mine and he whispers, “That’s what I wanted,” as if he knows I’ve made that decision.

And already his lips are traveling down my neck, tongue flicking here and there, his hand caressing, squeezing my breast. He assaults my senses with pleasure, touching me, kissing me, driving away my memories and enemies. His whiskers rasp my belly, his lips pressing to the center, his tongue flickering into my navel, and I tremble with the silent promise it will soon be where I want it to be. His hand flattens over my sex, inches lower until he is flicking my clit, back and forth, back and forth.

He lifts my legs to his shoulders, spreading me wide, and I am vulnerably his, and aroused beyond belief. He lowers his head, his breath a warm tease on my sensitive places, and I grip the edge of the table, bracing myself for what is to come. He laps at my nub, the barely there touch, and I am breathing hard, wishing I could touch him, incapable of moving, and the muscles of my sex clench so tightly it hurts.

He licks my clit and I am both relieved and on edge in the same moment, ready for more, for that everything he has promised me. Another lick follows. Yes, please, more, I think, and as if he’s heard my silent plea, he gives it to me. His hands slide beneath my backside and he lifts me to his mouth, and it is nothing shy of sweet bliss when his mouth closes down around me. He sucks, drawing deeply on my sensitive flesh, lapping at me, licking me again in all the right ways and right places. I am panting and moaning, and I barely recognize the sounds as my own. Sensations ripple through me and when his fingers slide inside me, I am undone, tumbling into orgasm. The intensity jerks my body and I lose all time and space. It’s escape, sweet, blissful escape, and he keeps me there, slowly bringing me down, the licks of his tongue growing softer, slower. Until I am sated, limp, and he pulls me back onto his lap, my head resting on his shoulder, his hand flattening between my shoulder blades.

“Everything or nothing,” he whispers, and this time, I do not believe he is talking about orgasms and pleasure.

I lean back to look at him, and the idea of what we are becoming is a sweet seduction, threatened by the emptiness of my past. “What if everything is too much?”

He drags two fingers down my cheek. “Sweetheart, I don’t have a ceiling. We’re going to find out if you do.”

Excerpt:

“You distract me, too. Ever since Tijuana, I can’t get your off my mind.”

The tape flies out of my hand. “You mean you…”

He glances around the room, then brings his sexy gaze back to me. “What I mean is that I want something different and you’re it.”

Nose scrunching, I sit back a little. “You want different, as in weird?”

“I like the beat of your drum.” He smiles at me, then his face grows all serious. “I’ve gone out of my way to see you, to have lunch with you, and to come to this class just so I can sit near you. Be near you. I want to know why you appeal to me so much.”

I snort. “Because I have a great boobs and awesome hair.”

His gaze dips to my chest, lingering there for so long that my nipples tighten. “Not going to argue with that.”

“Hayden, I’m really flattered, but my track record with guys isn’t exactly the best and you’re one in a long line of dudes who couldn’t handle the beat of my drum.”

He searches my face, like he’s trying to figure out if I’m teasing him, or simply playing hard to get. “Did you ever consider that it was the guys whose track records sucked and that maybe your drum beat doesn’t need to be handled?”

Synopsis:

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne…Guest Review

thg

Synopsis:

Debut author Sally Thorne bursts on the scene with a hilarious and sexy workplace comedy all about that thin, fine line between hate and love.

Nemesis (n.) 1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.
2) A person’s undoing
3) Joshua Templeman

Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She’s charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual.

Trapped in a shared office together 40 (OK, 50 or 60) hours a week, they’ve become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship. There’s the Staring Game. The Mirror Game. The HR Game. Lucy can’t let Joshua beat her at anything—especially when a huge new promotion goes up for the taking.

If Lucy wins this game, she’ll be Joshua’s boss. If she loses, she’ll resign. So why is she suddenly having steamy dreams about Joshua, and dressing for work like she’s got a hot date? After a perfectly innocent elevator ride ends with an earth shattering kiss, Lucy starts to wonder whether she’s got Joshua Templeman all wrong.

Maybe Lucy Hutton doesn’t hate Joshua Templeman. And maybe, he doesn’t hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

Excerpt:

“I have a theory. Hating someone feels disturbingly similar to being in love with them. I’ve had a lot of time to compare love and hate, and these are my observations.

Love and hate are visceral. Your stomach twists at the thought of that person. The heart in your chest beats heavy and bright, nearly visible through your flesh and clothes. Your appetite and sleep are shredded. Every interaction spikes your blood with adrenaline, and you’re in the brink of fight or flight. Your body is barely under your control. You’re consumed, and it scares you.

Both love and hate are mirror versions of the same game – and you háve to win. Why? Your heart and your ego. Trust me, I should know.”

Tiffany’s review:

Sally Thorne’s debut novel, The Hating Game, was recommend by the amazing Tessa Bailey. My thinking is, if an author you adore says READ THIS BOOK, you READ THAT BOOK. This is by far one of my favorite reads of not only 2016, but honestly, ever! I devoured it in about six hours. I laughed, cried and yelled more than once during this read. Then I promptly did what all good readers do when they become obsessed with a book, I stalked Sally Thorne on Goodreads, Facebook, IG and Twitter.

Lucy Hutton and Josh Templeman live to hate each other. The clock started on their hating game the moment their struggling publishing companies merged last year. He views her overly friendly personality as weak and allows people to take advantage of her. She can’t stand the fact that he never smiles and is constantly brooding and complaining about the staff at Bexley-Gamin. Both are executive assistants to the co-CEOs and both are plotting their next move to ensure they are promoted for a new coveted position up for grabs. Problem is, there can only be one Chief Operating Officer. The game changes course after a team building exercise of paintball takes Lucy out of commision for the weekend and Josh steps in to take care of her. Lucy learns there may be more to Josh’s surly attitude when his past starts to collide with his present. Can she guard her heart when the game shifts from hate to something else? She knows if he is promoted, she could never work for him and will have to leave the job she loves. But after Josh holds Lucy to a promise she made him that ill fated weekend, his smile returns and he makes a decision that will push the game into overtime. When the buzzer sounds, who will win? Because in the Hating Game there can be no tie.
This book is FIVE HUGE LOVES for sure. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did. Thank you Sally Thorne for giving us Lucy and Josh to fall in love with. Thank you, Jillian, for giving me the opportunity to gush over this book and share it with Read-Love-Blog.

Harlequin  |  Amazon  |  Goodreads  |  B&N

About the book:

A chilling new spin-off series from USA TODAY bestselling author Debra Webb sure to keep you up all night…

Former homicide detective Clint Hayes has his first client as a private investigator: a fragile beauty he isn’t sure he can trust. An injury has left Natalie Drummond with gaps in her memory, and she sees and hears things that aren’t there. But she’s sure she shot an intruder in her Birmingham mansion. So where’s the body, the gun, the evidence? When it’s clear someone is trying to kill his vulnerable client, Clint appoints himself her protector, working overtime not to fall for her. But someone is dead set that Natalie never regains her memories—or makes new ones with Clint.

Song Playlist: A prepared playlist of songs that embodies the book’s characters and their love story.

Bon Jovi is one of my favorite artists! I love, love, love his son, You want to Make a Memory. I think this song perfectly embodied the developing love story between Clint and Natalie.

A few other songs that played through my mind while writing DARK WHISPERS were:

Stronger by Kelly Clarkson

Need You Now by Lady Antebellum

Story of My Life by One Direction

Movie Star Cast: The author picks movie stars to play the characters in a movie.

I think Robert Downey, Jr, would be a great fit to play Clint. I loved him in The Judge. For Natalie, I’m thinking Felicity Jones. She has the right look and is capable of playing a strong character who’s still vulnerable.

Love Lessons Learned: Real life romance lessons learned from the book.

Never give up on love. Natalie suffered a tragic injury. She doesn’t know who to trust and for the first time since her injury she wants a relationship. Fear holds her back but she finally takes the leap. Trust is so very important to every relationship. Trust and the ability to take the leap.

Find out in the virgin diaries.

My Review:

The Big O s the first book in the new series by author H.J. Bellus and from start to finish I loved everything about it.

Olivia is quirky, funny, and so damn adorable I would be friends with her in an instant if she were actually a person.  I loved her story of self discovery and determination.  She embraces all of her awkwardness and doesn’t shy away from situations a lot of gals in her place I’m sure would.  I equally loved Oren.  He is just what Olivia needs and rises to every occasion in a sexy and non-overbearing way.  He had the perfect amount of patience and demand when it came to Olivia’s inexperience.  Together, these two are just a sexy joy to read.  From how they meet to how they end up, it was a wonderful mix of fun and heat.

H.J. adds her signature spunk to each character in this book with their silly sayings and colored nicknames for one another.  She always delivers laughs along with romance and heat and this was a prime example of the combination I have come to love.  Truly, this book gets my vote as her best book to date (Don’t tell Cree, though!)

If you’re looking for a fun, lighthearted, feisty and sexy read, this is a book for you! Thank you, H.J., for a fabulous kick off to a series I know I will love to continue reading!

★PROLOGUE★

Dear Diary,

Sweats, check. An ample supply of new movies for the weekend, check. A box of powder doughnuts, check. Pedro on my lap gnawing on a rawhide. This is it, my life in a nutshell. I’m a loser with a teaching degree and a wild desire to be swept off of my feet by Prince Charming. Not only do I want to be swept off my feet, I want him to pound me into next Tuesday. He needs to ride me like he stole me and toss my V card right out the window.

For now, it’s the damn “Notebook”, junk food, and my dog.

EXCERPT

The walk seems to have worn out Pedro. He lays perched at the bottom of my bed soaking up the little bit of sunlight streaming through the window. I forgo eating due to nerves and pour a glass of wine after nearly elbow dropping the top of the bottle to get the cork out. Who knew a simple machine was so damn difficult to use?

At first the tartness of the wine makes me shiver but then soon, a sweet spray dances over my tongue.

“Not bad,” I say to myself and down the glass.

The stage is set. A hot bubble bath, a full wine glass, bottle of wine, light mood music, candles, and then…the massive purple plastic cock who is about to give me my first screaming O. I locked Pedro in his kennel because there’s no way I could handle him watching me rub this one out or at least try to.

The water stings my skin as I sink down into the tub. My favorite sweet scent of bubble bath assaults my senses as I melt back into the tub. I sip down another glass of wine, relaxing even more with Norah Jones singing in the background. I was smart enough to keep the bottle in reaching distance for refills.

My fingers can barely wrap around the girth of the vibrator. How in the hell is it supposed to fit inside me? I giggle to myself when I realize I’m holding the damn thing like a microphone near the tip of it.

“Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the virgin diaries starring Olivia Olander who’s currently O-less and in desperate search for The Big O.”

I belly laugh like a crazed idiot after my entertaining stance. I down one more glass of wine and then dial up Scout for one last burst of encouragement.

“Scout,” I purr into the phone.

“Sup, ho-bag?”

“Just floating in the tub, slamming wine, and about to get it on with Tony the Tiger.”

She squeals a tone deafening pitch into the phone before creating any coherent speech. “I’m so proud of you, O. Just make sure to get used to the vibrating speeds before full insertion and once in, set the twirl mode to level three and you’ll be flying high.”

I feel like I should be taking notes instead of nodding and sipping my adult grape juice. The influences of the wine have me fully accepting her advice instead of flushing with embarrassment and running away.

“I think I got this, Scout.”

“Get it, girl.” She laughs into the phone. “How much wine have you pounded?”

“Like only half a bottle, but it’s one of those jumbo ones.”

“You do realize that’s like three bottles in one, right?”

“Is that bad?” I belch before getting out the last word.

“Don’t drink anymore and just get down and dirty.”

A beep sounds on my phone. I pull it away to look at the screen. “Gotta go, Scout, Hot Cop is calling me.”

“O don’t you dare take it.”

“Bye.” I click over to the next call, giddy as a little kid in a candy shop.

“Hello.” I try to purr in my sexiest of sexy voices.

“Hey Olivia.” His rich voice sends shivers down my spine and I swear they land right between my legs. I tingle.

“Everything okay? I swear there were cop carzz everywhere.”

Shit, did I just slur one of my words into the phone? I sit up a bit taller in the water and try to pay attention. The cool air perks my nipples right up.

“All is good, Olivia. There were two different things going down, that’s why there were so many cars everywhere.” He pauses and I hear the cracking slam of a few doors shutting.

“What are you doing?” I ask out of curiosity.

“Just got home and ready to crash, but felt bad the way I left you today.”

“I get it. It’s your job. No worries. I’m not a needy person, Oren.”

“Just trying to be a gentleman to my new non-dating friend.” His voice muffles for a second and then becomes clearer.

“What are you doing now?” I ask.

“Just took my shirt off, getting ready to kick my boots off, and drink a brewski before hitting the hay.”

“So you’re topless?” My nipples stiffen instantly picturing Oren shirtless.

“Yeah.” He chuckles. “You interested?”

“Possibly.”

Oh those tingles intensify to a mind numbing state. I can do this. I can really do this with Oren’s voice fueling my desire.

“Picture?”

“Duh,” I promptly reply.

“Give me a second. Oh, and Olivia, we still on for Friday?”

“Fucking A we are.” I slap my hand over my mouth when the bold words fly out. Note to self: less wine.

His deep chuckle vibrates through the phone. “The answer I wanted.”

“Before we say goodbye, give me a second.”

“Okay, I need to whiz real quick.”

Holy shit, he’s about to be holding his big gigantor wiener in his hand. Baby Jesus, don’t let him be packing light.

“Alrighty then, I’ll be right back.”

I set down my cell phone on the edge of the tub and stare down Tony. And then sing “Let’s get it on” to him. It’s the biggest move of my life and I’m about to become a full-fledged woman and if things do ever go further with Oren, I’ll be ready.

His deep voice snaps me out of my hypnotic stare with Tony.

“I’m here,” I holler. I down the remaining wine in my glass grab my phone and then Tony with the other hand. “Thanks for the call tonight, Officer Hot Cop.”

I plunge Tony down into the water, fumbling for the buttons. His edges are a bit more rigid then I remember as I try to softly rub him up and down my clit. It’s the first step to strum my clit-tar.

“Oren, you there?”

It’s silent on his end; boy, he must have a huge bladder or maybe tired out from holding up his monster cock.

“Oren?” I try again while still strumming away and by the way, it’s an awful feeling. Very abrasive indeed.

My phone begins to vibrate in my hand and then furiously twirls while vibrating. I pull my phone from my ear and come face to face with fucking Tony the Tiger. I was talking to a damn vibrator with the tip of the cock to my ear.

“Oh fuck,” I squeal, pulling my phone from between my legs, soaked in my favorite scent of bubble bath and dripping water.

SURVIVING ICE Synopsis:

The USA TODAY bestselling author of the Ten Tiny Breaths series and Burying Water—which Kirkus Reviews called “a sexy, romantic, gangster-tinged page-turner”—returns with a new novel packed with romance, plot twists, and psychological suspense.

Ivy Lee, a talented tattoo artist who spent the early part of her twenties on the move, is looking for a place to call home. She thinks she might have finally found it working in her uncle’s tattoo shop in San Francisco. But all that changes when a robbery turns deadly, compelling her to pack up her things yet again.

When they need the best, they call him. That’s why Sebastian Riker is back in California, cleaning up the mess made after a tattoo shop owner with a penchant for blackmail got himself shot. But it’s impossible to get the answers he needs from a dead body, leaving him to look elsewhere. Namely, to the twenty-something-year-old niece who believes this was a random attack. Who needs to keep believing that until Sebastian finds what he’s searching for.

Ivy has one foot out of San Francisco when a chance encounter with a stranger stalls her departure. She’s always been drawn to intense men, so it’s no wonder that she now finds a reason to stay after all, quickly intoxicated by his dark smile, his intimidating strength, and his quiet control.

That is, until Ivy discovers that their encounter was no accident—and that their attraction could be her undoing.

 REVIEW

Surviving Ice is the first book I have read in the Burying Water series. And I will most definitely be going back and reading the other 3 books. Fantastic book!!

Ivy – what can I say?!? This young lady has a very hard exterior, but underneath is a very soft person. I get that she has had to put on a brave front and face everything with an “nothing will stop me” attitude. But once those layers are peeled back, she does have a soft interior. But still don’t think she wont’ come at you with her claws prepared to defend and attack.

Sebastian – HOLY GOOD GAWD!! This man is an enigma. I have no other words to describe him. But his mysterious and serene attitude is what keeps you drawn to him. His is completely irresistible.

Ivy witnesses a crime that unbeknownst to her, puts her in a unsafe situation. Sebastian just so happens to appear in her life when she least expects it. To her, he’s just a new client looking for a tattoo. But he has other motives.

I loved how KA weaves a thrilling and captivating ride in this book. I enjoyed watching this bond form between Ivy and Sebastian throughout the whole book. It’s like watching a game of tug-a-war with these two. The characters were well-developed and nothing seemed out of the ordinary in anyway.

Another huge hit for KA Tucker!

love unspoken [858660]

I lent my heart to the bad boy, and he did exactly what I expected he would. He broke it.

And the guy I should have been with—he’s still here. He tries to take my mind off everything I’ve lost while showing me what I could have. I’m ready for a new start, to fall in love again … to do what I should have done in the first place.

Everything seems perfect.

Then the past comes walking back in. I thought I was over him, but one look and I know that’s not true. We went through too much together for those feelings to completely fade away.

When my past and present collide, how am I supposed to choose? They both love me, and I love them.

A heart will be broken … and it could be mine.

Review

I have been waiting for almost a year for the continuation of this story. And damn it was well worth it.

Everything picks up where Lies Unspoken ended. And moves full speed ahead.

Lila is still torn over Blake’s decision to walk away. But she’s also torn over her feelings for Pierce.

Blake is her worst decision. Pierce is the perfect choice. But what happens when you love both men I’m different ways?

Blake reappears when Lila chooses to move on, with Pierce. Neither man is willing to give up without a fight.

The tension and angst in this book is off the charts. Two men vying for the same woman – and she loves them both equally, but in two totally different ways.

When the decision is made, nothing will ever be the same. Love is a battlefield, and Lila has walked into her own war.

Lisa wrote this book beautifully. The emotions she pulled from me is amazing. There were moments where I wanted to smack all three of these characters. Then there were times when I found myself crying (on a plane while traveling, no doubt). My hopes and feelings for the one male never wavered and he prevailed. I won’t say who but he’s the one who stole my heart immediately in this series.

I love that we are going to get a spinoff series because the secondary characters in this boo just rock. You know an author writes am extremely strong story when you want the secondary characters to continue on in their own stories.

Lisa, I’m looking forward to reading more from you. You are one of my go to authors when it comes to romance and each book continues to prove why.

Excerpt

“If I had come home sooner, would I have had a chance?” he asks, sinking down in the bed until we’re eye to eye. He knows he’s making it impossible for me to skirt around the truth.

Eyes don’t easily lie to eyes.

“Yes,” I whisper. “I waited for you. Until New York, it would have been you.”

His fingers come up, gently brushing a piece of hair from my forehead. “I really fucked up with you, didn’t I?”

“Neither of us was in the right place. It wasn’t our time.”

He moves closer, brushing his thumb against my cheek. My conscience whispers but the tequila screams. “When will it be our time?”

I think about Pierce. This weekend. Everything. “It may never come, or maybe, it’s already passed.”           “I’m going to fight for you,” he declares, propping himself up on his elbow to look down at me. “I thought I could let you go if I knew it would make you happy, but after sitting alone in this apartment all weekend while you were with him, I don’t think I can do that.”

I swallow hard. “And, if you don’t win?”

“I’ve already lost, so what do I have left to lose?”

And, he’s right. He’s already lost so much that the risk is minimal.

“Pierce trusts me,” I blurt, my palms sweating against the sheets.

He leans in, kissing my cheek. “He shouldn’t trust me, not when he has the one thing I want.”           “Blake?”

He slips out of my bed without looking back, carefully closing the bedroom door behind him. He wanted the last word, and he got it.

Message From The Authors Suzanne and Melanie Brockmann

Mel: Wild Sky is a paranormal story, set in Florida, approximately fifty years in the future. In this world, a small percentage of people, mostly girls and young women, are born with a chemical in their blood that gives them superpowers like telekinesis or extraordinary strength.

Suz: Nicknamed “Greater-Thans” or “G-Ts,” these girls have been targeted for kidnapping by bad guys who harvest their blood and use it to manufacture a drug called “Destiny.” Destiny is extremely expensive, highly addictive, and ultimately fatal, but before the user dies from it, the drug reverses the aging process, heals illness and injury, and gives the addict super powers, too.

Mel: It’s pretty scary stuff! Oh, and just an FYI: Although Wild Sky is the sequel to Night Sky, you don’t have to read Night Sky for Wild Sky to make sense!

Suz: All you really need to know is that in Night Sky sixteen-year-old Skylar Reid discovers that she’s a Greater-Than with some serious superpowers.

Mel: And that Sky and her best friend Calvin–a really upbeat kid who’s spent most of his life in a wheelchair–have some dangerous adventures with another tough-girl G-T named Dana, and Dana’s extremely (ahem) attractive sidekick Milo.

Suz: Sky and Milo really hit it off, so in Wild Sky, they’re a bit of an item.

Mel: A bit! In Wild Sky, Sky and her friends get into more trouble as they search for Dana’s sister, Lacey, who disappeared years ago and has been presumed dead.

Suz: But now Sky’s got reason to believe Lacey’s being held captive in a Destiny “farm.” And of course, high jinks ensue, and our beloved character Calvin is put into extreme danger–although throughout most of it, he holds onto his crazy sense of humor!

Mel: We both love Calvin very much!

Suz: And Sky does, too! When we developed the Night Sky series, we wanted to center it around a main character we could easily relate to. And even though we grew up in very different circumstances –

Mel: Mom has an older sister, I have a younger brother. My dad was a lawyer, my mom a writer. My mom’s parents were both teachers.

Suz: I grew up listening to the Beatles –

Mel: Christina Aguilera.

Suz: Watching Star Trek.

Mel: Full House.

Suz: Paul Newman!

Mel: Bradley Cooper!

Suz: But despite all of those superficial differences, Mel and I shared experiences far too common to teenage girls. Waves of self-doubt, with occasionally soul-crushing periods of insecurity.

Mel: Yet even at our lowest moments, we knew that there were things we were really good at.

Suz: And that’s where Sky came from. A young woman whose primary goal is to fit in with her peers, but whose G-T status makes that virtually impossible. Or so she believes.

Mel: Of course, her friends recognize Sky for who she really is – a funny, loyal young woman with a huge heart — whose superpowers only add to her awesomeness. But for Skylar, nothing comes easy. Everything seems to be on shaky ground – her budding romantic relationship with Milo, her ability to help Dana find Lacey, even her friendship with Calvin.

Suz: It’s that very human mix of vulnerabilities and strengths that make Skylar so special.

Mel: We hope readers see Wild Sky as not just a really exciting, action-packed adventure, but a story about Skylar’s quest – and really every teenage girl’s quest — to own her awesome.

Suz: Because we truly believe that everyone is born with abilities that – no matter how seemingly small or insignificant — should be recognized and celebrated! It is our differences that make us Greater-Than.

Wild Sky Excerpt

I wish I could say I’d never witnessed a windshield shatter before, but I’d been in a terrible car accident a few years back, so I knew exactly what it looked and sounded like.

There’s a weird silence that happens immediately after something like that, in which everything seemed to occur in slo-mo. I forced my mouth to move.

“Gunshot!” I shouted, because I could see both Cal and Garrett looking wildly around, trying to process exactly what that noise was and what had just happened. “Bullet to car window! Over to the right.”

The broken windshield belonged to a beat-up sedan parked two slots down from us in the Sav’A’Buck lot. Someone had fired a gun, just once, probably from somewhere near the grocery store’s front doors, judging from that broken front window. Shards of glass made tinkling sounds as they careened off the front of the car and onto the pavement.

“Gunman at the store door, get down get down get down!” Calvin shouted, and I stupidly turned to look instead of diving onto the floor of his car, and he grabbed me by the shirt and yanked me down just as the shooter must’ve flipped the switch from one shot to massacre, and the gun began going off, popping bullets through the air.

BOOM BOOM BOOM POP BOOM!

I braced for them to hit Cal’s car, covering my head as I prepared for a rain of glass, but the man with the giant gun must’ve been pointing it in a different direction, because I heard the ping of punctured metal and breaking glass, but it wasn’t from our car.

I could hear someone screaming—high-pitched and frantic—even as Garrett yelled, “Calvin, drive!”

“Don’t,” I told Cal as I closed my eyes and focused on that glimpse I’d seen before he’d pulled me to relative safety.

Single gunman. Carrying…

A big gun. And something else…?

I focused on calling up the image, and yes, he was carrying some- thing under his left arm, some kind of brightly colored sack, with his assault rifle tucked into his right elbow—this tall, broad man, maybe twenty years old, buzz cut, scar above his eyebrow.

That screaming—it had been a child’s voice. She was silent now, but I realized with a flash that I hadn’t seen a colorful bag but instead the cheerfully patterned clothing of a little girl. That man with the gun was abducting a little girl. And I bet I knew why.

“Gimme!” I said and reached back to grab one of the water guns from beside Garrett.

“Sky!” Cal exclaimed. “Don’t—”

I didn’t wait to hear what he thought I shouldn’t do. I’d yanked my hood up over my head, hiding my red hair and as much of my face as I could, and I was already out of the car and on the asphalt, heading toward the man who was still firing that gun. He was using it not to kill, thank goodness, but to keep the little girl’s family from following him. I could see with just one glance that she was unconscious, as he tossed her none too carefully into the passenger seat of his shiny black Bimmer. He had a nice car. And I was pretty sure I knew how he’d paid for it—by kidnapping little girls like this one, like Sasha, too, and selling them to the Destiny makers.

Mother. Effer.

“Hey! ” I belted out. But my voice was buried beneath the cacophony of his weapon. I had to move fast, or he was going to get into his snazzy car and that little girl would be gone.

I took a deep breath and concentrated. Water versus bullets? Not normally much of a contest there.

But I could do this. Couldn’t I?

Suddenly, I heard Dana’s voice in my head, shouting Fail! Fail! What are you doing, Bubble Gum? You have no backup, you have no plan!

What was I doing? This was insane.

Still thoughts. I closed my eyes and pictured Milo. I breathed him, I felt him, I heard him. Still thoughts, Sky. Just let it go…

And in that moment in which I was specifically not thinking about what I was about to do or what the consequences would be if I failed, I felt and then saw my enormous pile of plastic water pistols—there were sixteen of them total—shoot out from the backseat of Calvin’s car and through the passenger side window that I’d left open. They streamed toward me like metal particles toward a magnet.

Then, just as quickly, all but one—a little green one—swooped in front of me before lining up and hovering in midair.

The little green plastic water gun zoomed over to the man with the real gun and smacked him in the face.

“What the hell…?” He fumbled his weapon as he turned to see me standing there—me and that collection of water guns—and his eyes widened.

“Holy shit, Sky!” With the noise from the assault weapon silenced, I could hear Garrett shouting, and I winced inwardly because he’d used my name.

But whatever he said next was muffled, and Cal’s voice rang out instead. “Hoshitski, look out!”

It was an intentional misdirect, and I tried to stand like a Hoshitski might, no doubt surly from years of being teased. I pitched my voice lower and ordered, “Drop it! Now!”

The gunman’s wide eyes narrowed, and we both knew he wasn’t going to drop his weapon, so before he could turn and kill me, I let loose my TK and blasted him. All of those plastic guns shot water from their barrels with the intensity of sixteen narrow but powerful fire hoses, and it sent the man down onto the ground so hard that I heard his head as it smacked against the pavement.

The gun he’d been holding clattered to the ground.

All of my weapons ceased water-fire and dropped onto the pavement in front of the unconscious shooter.

The silence that followed was eerie. I felt a little dazed, standing there with a single, silly-looking pink water gun still in my hand, staring at the downed man and his big real gun, and then over at the bullet-riddled storefront of the Sav’A’Buck.

Asylum Harbor by Isla Grey…Blog Tour Stop & Spotlight

Title: Asylum Harbor
Series: The Salty Dog Series Book One
Author: Isla Grey
Genre: Contemporary/Suspense
Approximately 198 pages
Published:  September 16, 2105
Publisher:  Wild Rose Press
Trouble is the last thing Devon Brown needs when she leaves the painful memories of her past behind and heads to Shell Island. As the Salty Dog’s new bartender, she finds herself drawn to Kerr, the Shell Island harbormaster. But finding her happily-ever-after is difficult when dealing with an obnoxious bootlegger who supplies the bar with illegal liquor and a jealous coworker.

A standoffish loner with damaged emotions, Kerr avoids relationships like the plague. Things change when Devon catches his eye. As a simple flirtation grows serious, the coworker and bootlegger quickly become obstacles to any future Kerr and Devon may have together. As the situation worsens, Devon realizes that even the still waters of Asylum Harbor are no refuge during a storm.

“You already got dibs on this one Kerr?”
Porter shot an evil glare at the opposite end of the bar and looked back toward her. “I’ll see you tonight.” He flicked his tongue. “After work.” He raised his glass in a mock toast and chugged it in one gulp.
The lights dimmed for Victoria’s dance of the night. Devon watched Kerr, who was usually headed for the exit by now, and breathed a sigh of relief when he remained glued to his seat with his back to the stage. He wasn’t staying for Victoria’s peep show. There must have been something about this Porter character that got under his skin in a bad way.
Devon was eager for the quick break. She hustled to the back as the chords to “Simply Irresistible” began to pelt over the speakers and ran some cold water over her forearm. A red welt was beginning to show where Porter had held onto it. She hoped he would be gone by the time she got back.
Making it out before mid-song, Devon rounded the bar when someone snagged her wrist and thrust her hard against the bar, knocking the wind out of her. She could smell Porter’s alcohol-laced breath as his weight pinned her under him. One of his grubby hands shot under her shirt while the other wrestled with the button on her pants. “Let’s give them a real show.”
She struggled to reach the Equalizer, but it remained hidden, out of her grasp. Devon hoisted her knee toward his crotch, but Porter lost his balance and fell backward before she could make contact.
Kerr towered over him. “Get your hands off her.”

Isla Grey is from Central Virginia and still lives in the same small town she grew up in. She developed a love of writing at an early age and over the years has tried her hand at penning poetry (some good, some not so good), screenwriting, newspaper articles and historical stories. She’s “old school” when it comes to writing and is a hoarder of more pens, post-it notes and writing journals than she’ll ever need. Isla likes to write different types of stories from romance to mystery and anything in between and loves a “happy for now but there could be some bad things coming” feel. When Isla’s not writing, she spends her time being called “Mom, Mama, Mommy” (well, you get the picture) by her daughter who is forever active, even in her sleep. She considers herself an unofficial “cat whisperer” and is a pet human to a plethora of cats that have taken up residence at her home over the years. Isla also enjoys reading a good biography or ghost story, traveling even though “there’s no place like home”, good music played loud and walking.
Isla loves movies and is the movie mistakes editor at Bellaonline.com where she talks about…well…movies.  Her novella, “A Voice in the Dark”, is available now and her book, “Asylum Harbor”, will be released September 16th, 2015 through Wild Rose Press.
