My Review In Short:

Ok, first I have to say: if you haven’t read this series, you really must.  I just adore this couple and their journey. So much so that I have their tattoo (yep, you read the right!) so to say I was excited to read more of this couple would be an understatement. Checking in with this novella was a dream come true and I loved every second of it!

I loved seeing where they are today.  I loved seeing how their relationship and marriage has evolved and seeing how far they’ve come.  I also loved seeing how, once again, they overcome adversity.  This is by far one of my fave book couples and I will always want to see more of them (hint, hint, Jen lol!!).  Seriously, though, if you haven’t picked up the Out Of Line series, you really must.  I know you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you, Jen, for giving us this newest peek into the lives of two of my fave book characters!

Every once in a blue moon I come across a book I just don’t want to end. Eternal by Cecy Robson is that blue moon book for me this year. The story of Luci and Landon could truly go on and on for me. I adore them both as characters and I adore them as a couple!

Luci is just stuck in a rut in her life and finding herself just going through the same motions every day. When she takes off with her friend for a weekend she just bumps into this handsome rugged man, Landon.  I know what you are thinking- “yep same old same old”. It was not the same old romance storyline-NOOO it was not! It takes time for these two to fall in love with each other. I loved reading Luci and Landon’s love story. I loved that they each were coasting in life with broken hearts. I love that they were friends.

Let me tell you that Landon is not only handsome but smart. You will fall in love within the first chapter and for many reasons. He just makes your heart flutter.

I fell asleep with this book in my hands because it was just too good to stop reading. I had to know what happened next. Eternal is a perfect example of why I started reading romance books. Cecy Robson really portrays the raw emotions a character is feeling or trying to convey right from the pages and drop them right into your lap as a reader. It is amazing to experience as a reader! This is just a must buy!

What do you do when you hate your life and your joy is gone?

Never the sister with the best of luck, Luna Rockwell gave up on her own happiness a long time ago. She’s lost herself in a never-ending cycle of work, in a career she’s come to loathe.

Will Luna find love once and for all, or is she destined to be the cat-lady aunt for the rest of her life?

My Review in Short:

Falling Forward is a wonderful story of overcoming loss, finding love, self-discovery, and beating adversity.  It is a story full of emotion and I loved reading Luna’s journey as she finds her true self.  What truly makes her happy.  She’s an amazing character I know you will love reading as much as I did!

Thank you, Dawn, for an unforgettable read!

About the author:

Three times best selling author Dawn Robertson was born and raised in Connecticut before relocating to Florida in 2013. The same year first novel, Hers debuted as an Amazon Best Seller. Replicating that success with two additional novels in the following years.

The Indie publishing world has grown to love her raw writing style depicting strong
women in real life situations, topping the charts in erotica, romance, and romance-suspense. Robertson has even insinuated that the female characters in her book mirror her real life. But, that I’ll leave to speculation.

When Dawn Robertson is not writing she is a full-time Real Estate professional in Florida, and mother of three amazing children.

Win the game. Lose your heart.

Everyone knows who I am and that I could have any female fan I want. That’s supposed to be the “perk” of playing left field for the Boston Renegades. But I don’t want just any woman; I want her.

She should be just another face in the crowd, but I can’t stop thinking about the one night we spent together-and her look of regret the morning after.

Because Saylor Blackwell is the kind of woman who haunts a man. Smart, sexy as hell, and one of the best managers in the business. She’s every ballplayer’s dream woman. And I’d do anything to make things right with her.

I’m done sitting on the bench when it comes to Saylor Blackwell. Time to swing for the fences.

I loved this book, I love this series and I love Heidi McLaughlin! Seriously, I could not put this book down! One of the many reasons I love Heidi McLaughlin’s writing is that I swoon over every male character she writes. Travis appeared a little here and there in the previous books and was always someone I thought would make a great story. Boy I was right!

I love the fact that Travis’s story was not the typical “can’t settle down until this one girl appears” storyline I tend to find in romance stories. Grand Slam is refreshing as a romance reader because you will find yourself routing for Travis, AKA bad boy, and you will also find yourself thinking “oh no that did not just happen!”.  I just could not believe the trouble Travis found himself in! I couldn’t believe he stop fighting for himself and his wants either!

Travis is a notorious playboy in the series but I just wanted him to fall in love. I was sure I had his storyline all figured out too but then a twist (or should I say “she-devil” pops up) and BAM- Travis cannot get the happy ending he deserves and I want!!! I just wanted to shake Travis and Saylor!

Saylor is a great character also because she is a single mom who puts her daughter before everything. I found myself shouting aloud at her “Girl come on already”! Between her and Travis my emotions were a roller coaster while reading this book.

I have two pieces of advice for any romance reader. First one is this is a fantastic series that will not bore you as a reader or repeat the same story just with different characters. Second, anything that Heidi McLaughlin writes is never a disappointment. Go out and purchase this series or even just this book and you will have a new favorite author as well as book boyfriend!

Excerpt

Whenever I wake up with a hangover, I often ask myself why I drank so much and promise that I’ll never do it again. That promise is something I’ve been breaking for the past few days, and up until now, I didn’t care.

I had hoped the booze would muddy my memory of last night, but it hasn’t. Every word she said, every expression she had, every punch to my chest to get me out of her apartment is crystal clear. I fucked up, and I don’t even know how. All I know is that the sobs I heard on the other side of Saylor’s door last night were enough to sober my stupid ass up.

For hours, I sat against her door, until a resident suggested I leave or they were going to call the police. If I hadn’t been arrested ear- lier, I probably would have encouraged them to dial Boston’s Finest. Another man might understand my plight. The woman that I want to be with kicked me out of her house, and while I probably deserved it, I didn’t want to leave until she stopped crying. I didn’t want to be the one to walk away in her time of need.

But as egos go—and believe me, mine is huge—I couldn’t let it get in the way any longer, so I walked my drunk ass back home with my tail between my legs, only to stay up all night while the booze wore off, knowing that I had to live with whatever I’d done to Saylor.

She’s the last person in the world who I want to hurt, and she’s the one person who can save me. Not only from a life behind bars, but from myself. When I’m with her, I’m a different person. The cocky son of a bitch whom everyone is used to doesn’t exist when she’s near me, and frankly, that is the man I like, or at least I used to. It’s easier being a fucking douche. It’s second nature to me and comes with the territory of being named one of the city’s most eligible bachelors.

Except when I’m with Saylor, I can be the man who hides in the shadow of that Travis Kidd. I can be the kind of man who doesn’t have to have a one-liner available or wink in order to get a phone number. When I’m with her, life outside of baseball starts to have a meaning, a fucking purpose.

The Library of Light And Shadow by M.J. Rose…ARC Review

Synopsis:

In this riveting and richly drawn novel from “one of the master storytellers of historical fiction” (New York Times bestselling author Beatriz Williams), a talented young artist flees New York for the South of France after one of her scandalous drawings reveals a dark secret—and triggers a terrible tragedy.

In the wake of a dark and brutal World War, the glitz and glamour of 1925 Manhattan shine like a beacon for the high society set, desperate to keep their gaze firmly fixed to the future. But Delphine Duplessi sees more than most. At a time in her career when she could easily be unknown and penniless, like so many of her classmates from L’École des Beaux Arts, in America she has gained notoriety for her stunning “shadow portraits” that frequently expose her subjects’ most scandalous secrets. Most nights Delphine doesn’t mind that her gift has become mere entertainment—a party trick—for the fashionable crowd.

Then, on a snowy night in February, in a penthouse high above Fifth Avenue, Delphine’s mystical talent leads to a tragedy between two brothers. Devastated and disconsolate, Delphine renounces her gift and returns to her old life in the south of France where Picasso, Matisse, and the Fitzgeralds are summering. There, Delphine is thrust into recapturing the past. First by her charismatic twin brother and business manager Sebastian who attempts to cajole her back to work and into co-dependence, then by the world famous opera singer Emma Calvé, who is obsessed with the writings of the fourteenth-century alchemist Nicolas Flamel. And finally by her ex-lover Mathieu, who is determined to lure her back into his arms, unaware of the danger that led Delphine to flee Paris for New York five years before.

Trapped in an ancient chateau where hidden knowledge lurks in the shadows, Delphine questions everything and everyone she loves the most—her art, her magick, her family, and Mathieu—in an effort to accept them as the gifts they are. Only there can she shed her fear of loving and living with her eyes wide open.

My Review:

The Library of Light and Shadow is the newest work in author M.J. Rose’s Daughters of La Lune series and while you don’t have to read the previous books I recommend you do…for no other reason than they are all fabulous.

This latest journey from M.J. Rose is filled with mystery, emotion, magic, intrigue, and even danger.

From the very first page, I was pulled into the story.  Starting with a letter from a woman who sat for a painting done by our magical and mysterious heroine, Delphine, I knew I was headed on quite a journey. And was I ever.

Delphine’s magical painting ability stems from a death and rebirth in a way.  She lost her sight and was able to regain it eventually thanks to the magical ability of her mother.  The woman in her family come from a long line of magical ability and now Delphine is one of them. Now, after regaining her site, she has the ability to paint people as their true selves, oftentimes showing their deepest secrets.  That ability has given her a reputation as a mystical talent.  A very sought after one at that.  But the thing is, sometimes the very thing that defines you can also be the thing that will be your downfall…

It seems as though Delphine’s life has a theme of love and loss.  As we visit her past through her journal entires, my heart broke for her and the love that had slipped through her fingers.  I wanted desperately for her to reunite with her soul mate but I also understood her fears. Delphine realizes love isn’t meant to be for her in a painted moment that breaks her heart and changes her future.

But what seems like a dismal and unhappy road ahead for Delphine will turn out anything but when Ms. Rose delivers another stellar and blissfully romantic end. I was making dinner while finishing up that last chapter and was crying happy tears into my boiling pasta water!

If you’re looking to leave reality behind and become immersed in a magical time and place, this is a book you must read.  Thank you, Ms. Rose, for another stunning read.

A Promise Broken Excerpt

Copyright © 2017 Anissa Garcia

I didn’t say anything. Instead my eyes roamed down his body as he approached. His jeans and shirt were perfectly snug. He sat beside me grabbing the remote, and I was hyper aware of his proximity. He smelled like fabric softener and aftershave. It was familiar and comfortable.

“Hilary,” his voice was soft as his eyes met mine. “Stop looking at me like that.”

“Like what?” I blinked at him with innocence.

“Like you want me to make love to you,” he said breathlessly.

My heart skipped a beat. I fumbled with my hands. “Don’t flatter yourself, Collins.” His phone trilled from his pocket. He reached in to check it, looked at the screen and hit the end button. “Who’s Isabella?”

He hesitated. “Uh, my chef.”

I rolled my eyes. “Bullshit. You know I can tell when you’re lying.”

“I’m not lying,” he laughed. “She’s my chef.”

“And your fuck buddy?” His eyes closed. Yup, he slept with her. His whole body tensed. “Do you like her?”

His eyes shot to mine. “No. I mean, yes, but…not in that way.”

The pang of possessiveness that swept through me was familiar to when Graham said he was working late, and that his co-worker was just that. “Is she pretty?” I asked quietly.

He nodded. “Very.”

“Oh.” Ouch, that stung more than I wish it had. I snapped out of my pity party and stood. “Well, then? Why aren’t you answering her call? You could be with her now.”

His bewilderment was obvious as I rushed to the window. It was hot and I needed a draft, and he was right. Drinking around each other wasn’t a good idea. He watched as I yanked on edges of the glass, trying to pry the window open.

“I told you I don’t care for her in that way.”

“So? You don’t have to care for her in that way in order to fuck. You did it already, didn’t you?” I struggled, but it wouldn’t budge. “Dammit, the window won’t open, and it’s so hot in here.”

“Only once,” he mumbled, as if reluctant.

“Spare me the details, Zachary.” I tugged, becoming breathless as I fought against it. My voice pitched higher as I hit the edges with my palms. “Stupid window.”

He drew up behind me, placing his hands over mine. I froze as his body pressed against me. We lingered, my back on his chest. Fast paced breaths escaped him. His mouth was near my ear, the humidity of his breathing caused me to tremble.

“Gently,” he spoke affectionately, drawing the window up. The crisp air didn’t make a difference when his warm body was near mine. His hands wrapped around my waist and he squeezed for only a second as his lips descended between my neck and shoulder. He gave the skin there a sweet kiss. His lips lingered longer than they should’ve. “You’re beautiful,” he whispered. His nose grazed over my neck as he pulled away. “Graham will regret letting you go for the rest of his life.”

Chills ran down my spine, all thoughts of Graham long vanished. My ringing body turned, needing more of Zach’s touch. His warm palms cupped my cheeks. I wanted more of him. All of him. He looked amazing tonight. I loved the way his emerald green eyes anchored on mine, promising me my darkest desires were a whisper away. His thick, dark hair swirled in waves I wanted to run my hands through. His strong touch had me reeling, and when he denied himself being a good man, instead of pushing me away, it only made feelings trickle in through the cracks of my heart.

He backed off, headed to the stairs, escaping me, leaving me in complete need. Bitterness toward my brother was creeping over me. Zach wouldn’t lose his friend, his boss. I was a risk he wasn’t willing to take. I had to remember what Zach said when he left me that day. Hilary, this can’t ever happen. I was sure he’d stick by what he said. He was a good man, after all, and a good man didn’t break his promises, but maybe, just maybe, some promises were meant to be broken.

More to Me by B.L. Mooney…Release Day Blitz

Author: B.L. Mooney
Title: More to Me
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 4, 2017

Raelyn Clarke is the woman of my dreams, but she’s way out of my league. I’m a starving artist with a deranged mutt. She’s an attorney saving children from deranged parents. I’m not exactly the type of man she’s looking for.

She thinks she’s found the one, but she doesn’t know his name. A stranger who rocked her world one night and showed her a connection she thought was impossible. A connection she’s desperate to feel again.

She’s settling for someone she does know, but he’s only perfect on paper. An attorney who matches her for education, career, and money, but doesn’t have a chance in hell of showing her the passion the other man showed her.

How do I know? Let’s just say there’s more to me than Hudson Kelley, the goofy neighbor across the hall. I have to tell her the truth soon. Right now, it’s better to keep her in the dark.

“Why are you making these cookies, anyway?”

She looked at the burnt ones and back to me. “They were supposed to be a peace offering, but the more I thought about what I was going to say to you when I took them to you, the more hyped I got to say it.” She reached across the island and held my hand. “I really missed you.”

I took the hand she placed in mine and held it with both of my hands. I wanted to say so much. I wanted to show her how much I’d missed her even though I was angry with her. I wanted to show her how much I cared. I was afraid.

“I missed you, too.” I couldn’t look at her. I was afraid she’d see everything I was feeling with that one look.

She tugged on my hands and I opened mine, thinking she wanted to let go. She grabbed my hands again and pulled me around the island to hug me. “I’m so sorry I ever made you feel that way.”

I hugged her back and tried to not crush her. I didn’t want to let her go, but I knew I had to. It was too soon to make a move or to tell her how I felt, but having her in my arms made it impossible to stay quiet. “You’ve made me feel a lot more than that.”

She pulled back and looked at me. She didn’t let go, but she wanted to see into my eyes. It was as if she was searching to see what I was feeling, but I wasn’t sure she was ready for the answer. I didn’t say anything, but I returned her gaze. She looked down to my lips, and I pulled her hips closer. I wanted her to kiss me. I wanted her to make that first move.

The door opened, but we didn’t break our stance. I was sorry for the interruption, but I was glad it was Jamie and not Darrin. That would’ve been even more awkward.

“Wow.” Jamie walked in and turned the timer off on the oven. We hadn’t heard it. “Are you two deaf?”

Raelyn’s hands slid down my arms as she stepped away. It was as if she didn’t want to let go, either. I wondered what would’ve happened if Jamie hadn’t walked in. Whatever did happen was enough to give me hope that she would see me as more than the guy next door some day.

She cleared her throat and turned to Jamie. “We’re making ice cream cookies.”

“Looks like you’re burning the poor things to me.”

Raelyn glanced my way a couple of times. She looked confused, but that only gave me more hope. She was feeling something. I’d wait as long as it took for her figure it out.

B.L. Mooney started writing when the voices and storylines in her head ran out of room. They were getting too cramped and neither B.L. nor the characters could take it anymore, so she did the only thing she could do—she made room. She always knew she wanted to write, but vowed to make time for it later. Now that she’s made time for writing, most everything else falls to the wayside. That seems to suit the characters that keep popping up in her head just fine.

B.L. lives in the Midwest, and her other talents include in-demand cookies, a very dry sense of humor, and stealth eavesdropping. Some mannerisms, attitudes, or twists come from random sentences picked up while passing by strangers. So speak up the next time you have something to gossip about. You never know, it may just end up on the pages of the next book you read.

Losing Kyler by Siobhan Davis…Review

Condemned to repeat the sins of the past…

Faye thought losing her parents was the most devastating thing to happen to her, but she was wrong. Her uncle’s scandalous revelation has sent her into a tailspin, leaving her questioning her entire existence.

Everything she believed is built on a lie.

And the one person she shares a passionate, soul-deep connection with can’t be there for her.

Faye and Ky can’t be together. It’s forbidden. Though they are determined to avoid replicating their parents’ mistakes, caving to their feelings is as tempting as the apple in the Garden of Eden.

Ky had sworn off girls until Faye bulldozed her way into his life. Now, she’s his whole world, and their forced separation is crushing him. Once his manipulative ex resurfaces—hell-bent on ruining the Kennedys—he’ll do whatever it takes to protect his loved ones including turning his back on the one person he can’t live without.

Then tragedy strikes and all bets are off.

But is it too late?

When Faye needs him and he isn’t there for her, guilt and hurt threaten to obliterate their love. As they start to rebuild their fractured hearts, another sordid family secret is uncovered, and Faye worries Ky may be lost to her forever.

But can you truly lose someone if they don’t want to be found?

Losing Kyler is the continuation of The Kennedy Boys series and starts off exactly where Finding Kyler ended. So yes, you must read these books in order to know what is going on. And Siobhan continues to give us more shock and awe as this saga continues.

Losing Kyler is still all about Kyler and Faye and their quest to find true love with one another. And their taboo relationship gets another blow thrown into it. And this time, it could definitely mean the end for them.

But as Kyler and Faye are dealing with this new bomb in their relationship, the rest of the family is not done with their drama and hurdles to overcome. James and Alex are battling not just between themselves but dealing with some huge issues their sons have gotten themselves into. At times it felt a little overwhelming, but I enjoyed how Siobhan tied these issues into Kyler and Faye and it didn’t take away from the main plot of this story.

Siobhan does a really good job of keeping the reader vested in this story and ALL the characters. Not only am I intrigued to see how things pan out for Kyler and Faye, but I need to know what happens with other Kennedy Boys, their parents and their family friend, Brad. Siobhan has definitely built up a great set of characters and amazing background stories on each to keep us coming back (just as long as she does not play these stories out too long).

We are promised the ending to this book in the next few months but another brother’s book in the summer. So I am grateful that we are not held in suspense too long to see how the dust settles for Kyler and Faye.

Highly recommended series.
