Used is KP’s debut novel. It’s one she has been writing on and off for years. And I am so glad that she released it to us to read.

This novel felt very real to me – not just the characters but the story itself. It’s unfortunately a life others have lived. We’ve all heard the stories on the news or through others but for a reason I can’t explain, KP’s book made it all more real and personal to me.

“Nine Steps.”

KP does a great job of giving us the details without laying all the gory details out for us. I know for some, they may want that more dark and twisted part to make the book more suspenseful, but it wasn’t needed. You can tell that Sabra has a very hard time talking and rehashing her past and that shows through the past reflections. And I think that’s why not having those descriptive details works with this book – the character can’t handle that and if KP were to go that deep into it Sabra’s memories, we would lose the true character of Sabra.

Trevor – oh that boy is a Saint. And I know any mom’s out there would love for their young sons to turn out to be just like Trevor. Sabra and Trevor started out as friends four years ago when she first arrived at college. Trevor has always wanted more, but respected Sabra and her reasons for not wanting to ruin what they had. Sabra has always expressed that she’s not a commitment type of gal and Trevor has seen that over the years. His loyalty to Sabra won me over immediately – even as a friend, he was there for her.

KP wrote a very real and personal story. Her characters and their story really helped in making this book feel more alive. While I know that those who love their psychological thrillers to be a bit darker, I think that KP still keeps the thrilling suspense alive with just the minute details she gives – it adds to the appeal of not knowing everything.

I hope KP continues to write as I would love to read another novel by her.

ALL THE STARS FOR THIS TRILOGY!!!

Let me start this off my saying this has got to be one of my favorite reads this year. Not the book, but the entire trilogy!!! This trilogy is the first I’ve read by Meghan and she has won me over big time!!

Sinful Empire is the conclusion to Mount and Keira’s story. And let me tell you, Meghan keeps on delivering the angst, drama and hotness in this book. There isn’t a slow down at any point, if anything, she ramps it up a bit in this one. I devoured this book as quickly as my busy life allowed me to.

The King has finally found his Queen, the one he was never looking for. But their road is definitely not an easy one. It’s riddled with bullets, lines being crossed and dead bodies.

“Revolution is not without bloodshed, and neither is vengeance.”

I won’t go into any of the details on what happens in this book. Just know that this book keeps the pace with the others with regards to the drama, suspense and hot as hell bedroom scenes – actually, I don’t think any of their sex scenes are even in the bedroom in this one; but they are damn hot ones! HA! Not only is the action hot and heavy there, but Meghan keeps us on our toes with everything happening around Mount and Keira.

Meghan does a magnificent job of keeping the flow with this one just as enticing and exciting as the previous ones. Yes, these two are finally getting their HEA, but as is their life, it’s not without problems. Meghan keeps her characters true to who they are and doesn’t change them just because their situations change.

I absolutely love that she doesn’t make Mount this pussyfoot man after realizing how much he feels for Keira. He’s still a man who stays in the shadows, a ruthless man who delivers pain to those who cross him and that doesn’t change just because Keira is in his life now. And Keira is a still fierce woman to reckon with and doesn’t become all mushy on Mount because things are building between them. She still pushes him and his men and doesn’t back down at all. She’s really starting to realize who she is and what power she holds.

Meghan stays true to the story line and her characters throughout the entire 3 books. And that’s what makes this trilogy even better. Yes, they finally get their HEA, yet everything is still the same. There isn’t one thing that I would change in this whole series/trilogy. I love it!!

I am looking forward to Savage Prince in the coming year!!

He’s more than I’ve imagined, and in some senses, it scares me. He’s the sort of man women like Nicolina land. For once though, it was as if she saw me as competition. The feeling is exhilarating.

His shirt is dropped, his undershirt following quickly behind. Good God Almighty. What does a guy who looks like that see in me? “I see you like to work out.” I clear my throat and want to bonk my head on the side of the tub for saying it out loud.

Chuckling, he says, “I have a gym down the hall. It’s how I relieve stress.”

“I thought that’s what sex was for.” I gasp and cover my mouth, wishing I could keep my crazy thoughts in my head where they belong instead of on my tongue. His eyes are heavy, a smirky smirk restraining a laugh. “God, you cannot let me talk when I’m nervous.”

“If this is what happens when you’re nervous, I’ll make you nervous more often.” His pants come down and my curiosity is answered. Tonight he’s in boxers. When he catches my eyes on his package, I’m thankful I’m wearing waterproof mascara because I immediately go underwater. Screw my makeup. It’s really the only way to keep my mouth in check at this point. I count to five and then pop back up. With my hands covering my boobs, I ask, “You’re really coming in?”

“Yes, scoot over.”

Twisted Truths is the final installment in the Blood Brothers series. While this is Denver’s story, I HIGHLY recommend reading these books in order because there is an underlying plot that continues throughout the three books.

In Twisted Truths Denver comes to find that he needs to help out a former “flame” in finding her niece. Noni has been entrusted with raising her niece when the girl’s donor dad kidnaps her. And the only person she can truly trust to help her is Denver. But she enlists his help in ways that put him in danger too.

For those who have not read any of the previous books, Denver and his two brothers were raised in a home and a crazy “scientist,” Dr. Madison genetically enhanced them. They escaped many, many years ago and have stayed behind the scenes tracking down this nutjob and the crooked Sheriff. And since Noni blasted Denver’s pic all over social media, the lime light is once again on the brothers.

Rebecca does a great job of weaving the two stories together. There are a lot of twists and turns and action-packed plot. It was very difficult to put this book down. My only gripe was that a few parts seemed to be reminiscent of previous books (outing the brothers) but it did not take away from the overall story line.

If you enjoy a great plot line, with a lot of twists and great action blended with some romance, then this series is for you. Again, I urge you to read the books in order to get the full affect of everything.

OMG Meghan – what are you doing to me?!?! I can’t get enough of this trilogy!! As soon as this book landed on my kindle, my whole body was dying to jump into this book and see what was happening next. I am seriously OBESSED with Keira and Mount.

First off, if you have not read the first book in this series, Ruthless King, go do that right now. Just stop reading my review (it may spoil something) and go read it. DO IT!! Why are you still reading this???? For those who have read it, continue on….or just go start this book now because like me, you need to know what happens!!

Defiant Queen continues on with Keira and Lachlan’s story and Meghan’s does not let up on anything. The book continues as the perfect pace with an amazing mix of action packed moments and holy shit sex scenes!! I couldn’t out this book down at all.

We learn a bit more about Lachlan with some snippets of his past and Keira is still fighting herself with her body wanting Lachlan and her mind raging a war against that. She knows that this will never be more than a debt being paid but when Lachlan starts complicating things more, she’s starting to see a different side to him.

Keira and Lachlan have this magnetic push and pull with one another. And with everything else going on around them, it just adds this perfect blend of angst, drama and sexual tension. I love every damn word in this book!! And that ending – OMG. I just can’t.

“Let’s get one thing clear—”

“One thing? I have a goddamn list.”

He bracketed her throat, putting just enough pressure there to stop her words. “Did you change your mind?”

She narrowed her eyes but didn’t try to pretend she had no idea what he was talking about. “You play your game your way. I’ll play it mine.”

Disobedient and willful to the very end. He couldn’t decide if she was trying to provoke a response or if she was just that opposed to being locked down in any way. In the end, it didn’t matter. “I should bend you over this counter and fuck you into submission.”

“Don’t think for a second it would work.” Charlie rolled her eyes. “And beyond that, we’re already going to be late, so unless you’re looking for a quickie, fucking me in any way is out of the question.”

The irrational side of him, which always seemed to come into play around her, rose to demand he throw caution to the wind and prove her wrong. He reined it in, but only barely. Every time she pushed him, intentionally or not, he slid a little closer to the edge. It was only a matter of time before he went over—and took her with him.

Aiden let go of her and stepped back. He didn’t like the confusion on her face—or the flicker of hurt that rose as he moved to the dresser across the room. For all her spikes, there was something fragile about Charlie, and he’d have to be a special kind of bastard to want to shatter her, no matter who her father was.

He opened the drawer at the bottom that had been empty until a week ago. “Take off your panties.”

“I’m sorry, what?”

He gave her a look. “You heard me.”

“I’m waiting for you to explain.”

Aiden shook his head slowly. “There aren’t two separate games—there’s only my game. Either play along or deal with the consequences.” He picked an item out of the drawer and held it up. “Here’s your first punishment.”

“I didn’t do anything wrong.” But her eyes lit with interest at the small blue vibe in his hand.

He motioned her forward, giving her plenty of time to tell him to go to hell.

But she didn’t.

Charlie moved to stand directly in front of him. He lifted her dress to the tops of her thighs, bunching the shimmering fabric. “Hold this,” he ordered.

“You are aggravating in the extreme.”

“So I’ve been told.” He pulled her panties down to her thighs. It was tempting to kiss her there, but he forced himself to stay on task. Aiden held the small vibe against her clit as he shifted the lace back into place. It took a few seconds to maneuver it to exactly where he wanted, but then he sat back on his heels. “You can let go now.”

“This is an important night, Aiden.” She shifted, a frown on her face. “We don’t have time for your sex games to distract me.”

He pulled out his phone and brought up the app he’d downloaded when he bought the sex toy. A flick of his finger and her entire body tensed. Aiden didn’t bother to hide his satisfied smile. It fell away when he touched his pocket and the little box it held. “One more thing.”

“I swear to God, I draw the line at anal plugs, so don’t even think about it.”

That surprised a laugh out of him. What surprised him even more was how good it felt. When was the last time he’d laughed freely in a way that wasn’t calculated?

Aiden couldn’t remember.

He stood and pulled out the ring box. “I’d go down on one knee, but that isn’t the kind of relationship we have.”

“No, it’s not.” She looked a little sick, but she held out her hand so he could slide the ring onto it. “Aiden, it’s beautiful.”

“It was my grandmother’s.” It had taken some shady work to figure out Charlie’s ring size after he’d first met her, so that he could get the ring resized. He hadn’t told anyone about it. Though he’d been as sure of her as he could be of a near-stranger, he hadn’t wanted to admit the lengths he’d gone through, in case things didn’t pan out.

If anything, she looked even more horrified. “I can’t wear your grandmother’s ring. It’s not right.”

“You have to. As oldest son and heir, that ring rightfully belongs to my future wife. It would be more than a little suspicious if I didn’t give it to you.”

She touched the massive diamond. It was in the same setting as when his grandfather had proposed, little rubies and garnets surrounding the diamond, to represent colors in the O’Malley crest.

It felt a whole lot like he’d just branded Charlie.

It didn’t bother him nearly as much as it should.

OMG!!! Monica – what you are doing to me?!?! WHY?!?! That ending has crushed me!!

“I’ve told you from the beginning of my story that I was noting but a fucking monster. At least now, you can’t call me a liar….”

So yea, as you can tell, this book ends in one hell of a cliffy. And the saving grace is that we do not have to wait long for the second book. And I for one, am extremely grateful that Monica didn’t try to wrap up their story in a few more chapters to rush everything and give us one book. Yes, I hate my having my heart ripped from chest and watching it sit on my bookshelf beating away til January, when I can possibly put it back in. But I am more than happy that Monica is sticking to her guns and giving us the complete and full story that Amira and Damien deserve and not this rush, hurry up shit that puts everything together in this happy package in a few short chapters.

Ok – onto this book. I am truly not sure what to say that won’t give anything away. Monica is one author I know that I can depend on to deliver, the suspense, angst and hotness all wrapped into one amazing story. I went into this story blind, as I have with every single one of Monica’s books since her first book. You do not read any of her previous books to read this one.

El Santo is about Amira and Damien’s past and how they came to know one another. There is nothing pretty about the environment they grow up in. Damien was raised to be a soldier. Early on he knew what his life would like; he just never realized how revered and feared he would he become to everyone. Amira was the one person who never feared him. She saw the darkest part of him but knew behind that darkness was someone who just as much of a pawn as she was.

“One day soon, I won’t be the man who saved her. I’ll just be another fucking monster that haunts her dreams.”

Monica weaves a very emotional story into this suspenseful plot. My adrenaline was pumping the whole time I read this book; my emotions on high waiting for the next twist or turn to take place. This book delivers the ugly, raw and heartbreaking truth of Amira and Damien’s fated relationship. And damn, if it wasn’t worth every emotional second.
