Why have I not been told about this series before now?? And why has no one told me about Greer Rivers before now!??!

A dark, mafia romantic retelling of fairytales is my jam!! Dreadful contains that with Sweeney Todd, but also includes some Hamlet and Medusa – HELLO!! FREAKING PHENONMENAL!!

That’s really all my review should be. FREAKING PHENONMENAL!!

Greer weaves one hell of retelling with the perfect dark undertones in this mafia story. Talia’s story is not an easy one – what she endured as a child will leave you enraged. And Sever – he has no idea what he’s gotten himself into when he sees her working at the local bakery.

I won’t give any details away. Just read the blurb and go in from there. It is dark story and Greer’s writing is very intense. Right from the start, Greer’s writing just creates such vivid, graphic scenes and it allows readers to empathize with the characters and understand their actions.

I absolutely loved this book. I love Talia and Sever, and not just their chaotic relationship, but how they create their own story in the end.

Something Like Redemption is a really good continuation for this series. These books must be read in order; while Monica does a nice quick rundown right at the beginning of this book, it’s best to read them in order as you miss out on some very important details in the first book.

We get to know Mia and Quinn more in this book. While I wanted to slap Mia a few times in the beginning, I understand the why behind her actions. These two definitely go through ringer in this book but fight through it together.

Monica leaves a lot of unanswered questions and some open doors. I love how this story came together but still left us wanting more. Yes, this book does end in cliffhanger and it’s just enough to leave you begging for more.

I really enjoyed this second book, even with the small issues I had. Monica delivers just enough bread crumbs with some answers, but adds in more to keep things very enticing and gripping.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series. Monica truly knows how to captivate her readers and keep them reeled in.

Shatter Sun is my first book by Persephone Autumn and the first book in her newest series, Stone Bay.

I really enjoyed this romantic suspense. Persephone does a great job of blending the romance with stalker suspense and not taking away from either aspect throughout the book.

This is a love triangle, but not in a terrible way. Kirsten and Ben were best friends before her mom moved them away after a tragic accident.

Fast forward many years, and now Kirsten is a waitress at the local diner, and over her time working there, she has struck up a flirtatious relationship with Travis, a local police officer. It never goes beyond the flirting, but the chemistry is definitely there.

Ben happens to come into her hometown for work and finds her working at the diner when he and his crew stop in breakfast. And seeing these two together is like coming home. I loved it so much.

Suddenly, both men are vying for her attention, but then her stalker also comes into the mix. I love how Persephone weaves all of this together – the suspense, the chemistry, and spice – just all of it flowed nicely. What I loved even more was that it became obvious who Kirsten was going to choose.

Shattered Sun is a great start to this new series and definitely a great first read by this author for me. I am looking forward to more from this series.

There has not been a book Brittainy has written that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed.

The Problem With Dating is a really enjoyable grumpy/sunshine romance with the right touch of humor added in.

I enjoyed watching the dynamics between Yara and Alex play out as I read this book. It felt natural watching two completely opposite people learn to navigate the other and slowly become more than they either could have guessed.

Brittainy truly has this amazing talent that makes her story feel so realistic. While I had some issues of my own with this story, overall I absolutely enjoyed it and loved both Yara and Alex.

Listen, I know I have chains wrapped strategically around my wrists and that every second that goes by, said chains are burning a mark into my skin that may or may not mean I’m about to get completely demolished by a succubus demon.
But this is not how the story starts.
I mean, maybe it’s how it ends since I’ve been in this exact spot for the last two days without food or water, waiting for a rescue from my immortal friends, knowing full well they’re probably all just having sex and enjoying marital bliss without realizing I’m actually missing.
Me.
The manager of the Seattle demon bar, Sin.
Werewolf prince.
All around really upright kind of guy—or so I like to think. But do you know where that got me?
Here.
Chained.

Bartending is looking great right now. Immortal life in my werewolf clan did not prepare me for this or the fact that saving one succubus would actually turn me into her prey.
She was bruised.
Beaten beyond recognition.
I was going to kill the vampire that attempted to slaughter her, but that’s a longer, more violent story since she ended up doing the deed once she got a bit of my blood. But I did give her water, thinking, wow, I’ve done this person a total solid. I mean, despite the fact that she was pretty. Even her tears were pretty. The bruising and swelling on her face didn’t even hide how beautiful she was—or is.
Maybe my first wrong act was comforting her. Because the minute we touched, her eyes flashed a creepy red, and well…see also actual burning handcuffs around my wrists.
It’s clearly been a fun forty-eight hours. Maybe she’ll make it quick, though a weird part of me kind of wants my last few moments being sucked dry via sex to last for a while, so long that it’s all I focus on, all I care about, all I see.
I see visions of the future, but I never saw this.
So, strap in because I’m sure it’s going to be a great story. I just may not make it all the way to the end with you.

I devoured this quickly and thoroughly enjoyed this one.

If you have read any of RVD’s previous books in this series (The Dark Ones), you will absolutely love this novella. For new readers to this series, certain things may seem a bit confusing and feel overwhelmed, but just keep reading.

I absolutely loved Tarek & Lilith’s story. It was exactly what I needed.

New readers will get an idea on how all these characters relate to one another and because you will see how the secondary characters care for him, you get an idea of who he is. Lilith is bit harder to connect to but Rachel does a fairly good job of explaining her purpose.

Overall, a nice novella introducing all the characters in this series and supporting Tarek and his story.
