Lucas Thatcher has always been my
enemy. It’s been a decade since I’ve seen him, but our years on
opposite coasts were less of a lasting peace and more of a temporary cease-fire. Now that
we’re both back in our small town, I know Lucas expects the same old war, but
I’ve changed since high school—and from the looks of it, so has he.The arrogant boy who was my teenage rival is now a chiseled doctor armed with intimidating
good looks. He is Lucas Thatcher 2.0, the new and improved version I’ll be competing
with in the workplace instead of the schoolyard.

I’m not worried; I’m a
doctor now too, board-certified and sexy in a white coat. It almost feels like winning will be too
easy—until Lucas unveils a tactic neither of us has ever used before: sexual
warfare
.

The day he pushes me up against the wall and presses his lips to
mine, I can’t help but wonder if he’s filling me with passion or poison. Every
fleeting touch is perfect torture. With every stolen kiss, my walls crumble a little more. After all
this time, Lucas knows exactly how to strip me of my defenses, but I’m in no hurry to
surrender.

Knowing thy enemy has never felt so good.

Once again, I am going to be in the minority with this book.  I wanted to love this book so much.  I really did.

Let me preface this first by saying I am huge R.S. Grey fan.  I love her books and I really enjoy her writing.  This is my first (and hopefully only) book that I just couldn’t get into.  I am huge enemies to lovers, when the story is told well.

Daisy and Lucas have grown up together and have always been competitive with another one.  Trying to outdo the other.  They both go off to college and med school and Daisy is able to avoid him during all that time, even with return trips home.  Now Daisy is moving back home with the hopes of taking over the local family practice.  Then she learns that Lucas is also going to be working there too.  And so beings that competition as adults – well at least for Daisy it’s a competition.

I think Lucas was the only one of the two who actually grew up.  Daisy just irked me with her high school antics.  I truly wanted to slap her upside head quite a lot.  Lucas was beyond amazing and definitely have more patience than anyone I know.

You can sense the tension and friction between them but also the attraction too.  I did love the hate fucking but I had a hard time with HEA for these two.  It just seemed like all of sudden Daisy pulled her head out of her ass and realized she was 28 and not 18.  And that high school dance scene – I won’t even go there. It just proves my point of her not acting her age.

Overall, it was just an ok book for me.  I most likely won’t remember this story in a few months and I hate that.  I love R.S. and will continue to read her books.  This book just wasn’t for me.

I am a lover of books, chocolate,
reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the
couch with all of those things… everyday.I live in Texas where I spend my free
time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer.
I’m a comedy geek and love all things “funny”. Women like Tina Fey, Amy
Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my
work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.

“I met the boy I wanted. But then he vanished and a new man claimed me instead. My father approved, my colleagues congratulated, and behind closed doors, I was bedded by a stranger.”

Noelle Charlston lived a fairy-tale life: a doting father, a powerful job, and a future blessed with financial security.

However, two meetings with two men changed her happy existence forever. First, she met the boy who made her heart sing. Second, she met the man who made her blood quiver.

Noelle’s freedom was no longer hers. It belonged to the man her father believed was the perfect match. The man who pulled his lies over everyone he touched.

Including her.

Seduced and manipulated, Noelle lives two lives. The one everyone sees on the outside and the one no one sees on the inside. The lies he spins, the truth he hides, the mystery he webs—it’s all enough to slowly erode the woman she’d been and turn her into something else.

Until her past collides with her present.

And it’s her turn to lie.

To everyone…including herself.

Five huge fucking loves, man!

Crown of Lies made me fall in love with Pepper Winters all over again! I haven’t loved one of Ms. Winters’ stories this much since Tears of Tess. Oh, the feels! I felt all of them!
In typical Pepper Winters style, she led me on a journey full of love, hate, greed, and knock-down, drag-out, panty-melting passion!
Noelle Charlston isn’t your average rich girl. She was bred to take over the family business from the time she was born. It consumed her entire life. While the other girls from school went out with friends, Elle went to work as the future CEO of Belle Elle, the largest retail chain store in the US and Canada.
On her 19th birthday, she decides that she needs to get out and see the city that she lives in through the eyes of a normal 19-year old girl. She sheds her business suit for something a little more casual, and heads out into the city, alone, for the first time ever.
“The sensory overload slowly eroded my shame for sneaking out and forced me to pay attention to every minor thing. For hours, I walked. I stared. I breathed. I let life take me wherever it wanted for a change. I had no idea where I was going or how to get back, but I let my feet get me lost because I had money to catch a taxi home. I knew my address—I wasn’t that sheltered. I could afford to go wherever I wanted, and at the end of my adventures hop in a cab and return with a new depth to my existence. And a secret I would happily harbor forever.”
Soon, however, Elle finds herself in a life-changing situation she would never be prepared for. With the assistance of a dark stranger, she was able to salvage the rest of her evening. Elle and her mystery man ended up in Central Park where they both started feeling their attraction toward each other rise.
“He kissed me again, stealing my cry, pressing his hips against mine. “I feel you like this.” He squeezed my breast softly. “And I feel you like this.” He rocked erotically. “But I feel you most of all with this.” His touch climbed from my breast to my heart, pressing down over the rapidly beating muscle. ‘I don’t care that I don’t know you. I know enough.'”
Before long, their bond was broken when they are stumbled upon by park security and the police. They tried running and almost got away. As they were hiding in some park bushes, Elle can’t help but feel as though she has had some kind of breakthrough that night. The scared, sheltered business woman that she left back at Belle Elle was long gone at this point.
“This is crazy.” I hugged him close. “All things worth fighting for are crazy.” He kissed my forehead.”
Unfortunately, they were spotted and taken down by the officers. Her mystery man was hauled off to jail and she vowed to find him and help set him free. Her dad reluctantly helped her look at nearby police stations and prisons, but she was never able to track him down. For the next three years, Elle tried to forget about the mystery man and move on with her life.
Then one day, she meets Penn Everett. Cocky, brash, and undeniably gorgeous. He makes her feel things that she hasn’t felt in three years. When he propositions Elle and requests that she relinquish control of her life and decisions, she wants to scoff at him. She wants to tell him to take his proposition and shove it. But she also wants to give in.
“Tell me to stop, and I’ll stop. Tell me to remove my hand, and I’ll remove my hand.” His fingers feathered over me, rocking his palm against my clit; his fingers pressing over the tight lace protecting me. “But if you tell me you’re all right with this, if you tell me to keep going, then you play by my rules. You become mine in every fucking sense.”
As hard as she tries to deny it, she quickly realizes that she doesn’t want to. She needs to let go of the past, forget about the nameless guy that she met in a dark and dirty alley three years ago, and take her life back. She needs to admit, once and for all, that she is never going to find her hero mystery man.
But did he find her?
Also in typical Pepper Winters style, this book ends on and MAJOR CLIFFHANGER! I have a love/hate relationship with Pepper Winters cliffhangers. I HATE it now, but when Crown of Truth releases on February 28th I know I’ll love it!

About the Author

Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero, the better, and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex… her books have sex.

She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends.

The power of pleasure…

Gabriel Miller took everything from me. My family. My innocence. My home. The only thing I
have left is the determination to get back what’s mine.
He thinks he’s beaten me. He thinks he’s won. What he doesn’t realize is that every pawn has
the chance to become a queen.
And the game has only just begun.
THE KNIGHT is book two in the Endgame series from New York Times bestselling author Skye
Warren about revenge and seduction in the game of love.

EXCERPT:

“Still  giving orders, little virgin? Is that something you’re born with in the St. James family, or did they teach you that along with your ABCs?”
Rage tightens a knot in my stomach. “I’m not a virgin.” “No?” he asks, lifting a hand to my face.
I stand very still as he captures my chin between his thumb and forefinger, torn between wanting to wrench away and wanting him to kiss me. How can he make me feel alive when I’ve been sleepwalking for months, years? What sick twist of fate let the hands of this man bring me pleasure?
“You made sure of that.” I mean the words to come out cold, unhurt. Instead I sound breathless and somehow inviting. The white carpet may as well be streaked with red. We’re both back in his bedroom, both flushed and sated and ripped to shreds from what he’s just done.
He lifts my face, almost tender. “I put my cock into your warm little hole. Pushed right through that thin hymen to do it. It felt like fucking heaven to break you open.”
I’m a tuning fork in his hands, and the sound I make is pure arousal. “I despise you.”
“You were so wet,” he says, almost thoughtful. “But some of it was blood, wasn’t it?”
“I’m going to find a way to get my house back.”
He bends his head slightly, enough that our lips are an inch away, the words a tickle of breath against my lips. “I got off on the slide of your blood on my cock. I came that way, spilling salt into the fresh open wound.”
There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to him, no line I wouldn’t cross in this moment. My anger takes an unholy shape, rearing back with all the fury and fear of a wild horse ready to trample his enemy. “And God help me, I’m going to ruin you. The way you did my father. I’m going to break you.”
He nudges my chin higher, exposing the vulnerable line of my throat. His mouth drops to the tender skin, a whisper of a kiss. “Do you want to make me bleed, little virgin?”
The violence takes me by surprise. My swing is wild, aimed straight for his face with all my strength. He catches my wrist midmotion, the abrupt stop shooting pain down my arm. We’re frozen that way, him holding me, breathing each other’s air. “Don’t call me that,” I say between clenched teeth.
“Little virgin.”
“I’m not. You saw the proof of it. You paid a million dollars for
it.”

“Actually,” he says, voice deceptively mild. “I paid a million dollars to use you for a month. And as that month isn’t over yet, I think I’d like to collect.”
Shock courses through me, singeing every angry intention.
“No.”

“And as for your virginity, there are a hundred ways you haven’t been taken. A thousand ways you haven’t been fucked. A million dollars left to earn.”
“That money’s mine. You sent me away.”
“And yet,” he says, echoing his earlier words, “here you fucking are. This is what you wanted. This is what you came for. Did you really think you’d see me and walk away without my come inside you?”
My gasp sounds virginal even to myself. “Of course I did.”
He uses the hold on my wrist to drag me closer, off balance, almost falling into him. His warmth surrounds me, along with a musk my body remembers.
Alarm bells ring more than they did this morning. A strange man could hurt me, but Gabriel—he’s worse. My own kryptonite.

“Here’s the thing about fucking a virgin,” he whispers, breath a caress on my temple. “You gave me your pretty little hymen, the small spill of blood. The first feel of those walls squeezing my cock. And there’s no way to get it back, not ever. No matter who else you fuck. Even if you settle down with some prep-school fucker and let him climb on top of you every single night, I’ll always be your first. You will always be my little
virgin.”

The show of possession does something strange to me. It should be offensive. It’s meant to be offensive, but the humiliation turns liquid and hot inside my body. And the worst part is, I can’t even deny the truth. He left an imprint inside me. I can still remember the stretch of him, the burn. The very shape of that heavy thickness I can feel against
my stomach now. And anyone who comes after him, they’ll never quite fill the space he carved inside of me.

“That’s right,” he murmurs, soothing now that I’ve acquiesced.
“I’ve got you.”

“No, we can’t—”
He releases my wrist only to run a finger along my cheek. “So young. You look so young like this.”
“It’s the makeup,” I say with difficulty. And the hair. And the clothes. In a thousand ways I was different before, the society princess. What am I now? Almost homeless. Definitely scared.
His eyes gentle, more brown than they’ve been before. “You didn’t think you were getting fucked today. You got dressed and took the bus and came up the elevator having no idea.”
“Don’t feel sorry for me.”
A slight smile. “Not enough to stop. Take off those clothes.
Let’s see what you look like when you’re just a sweet, innocent college girl and not the toy I bought at auction.”

Skye Warren has done it again. She is incredibly talented and can take me to new heights with her storytelling.
She ripped my heart out with the first book in the Endgame Series, The Pawn. With The Knight, she not only stitched it back together, but warmed it up from the inside out (That’s not all that got warm! The girl can write some amazingly HOT scenes!)
The story opens just a few days after The Pawn ended. Avery is, once again, doing everything she can to survive on her own and Gabriel is determined to stand in her way. As the story unfolds, Avery finds herself being drawn back into Gabriel’s hands but she can’t decide whether or not that that’s where she needs, or wants, to be.
“I could fight him, but what’s the point? He holds my future in his large, capable hands—the escrow account, my family’s home. And impossibly he holds my sexual desire, a sudden fire that he lit with his words.”
She needs to figure out if there is an underlying cause to his behavior. As always, she wants to believe the best in people but Gabriel plays by his own set of rules. It’s his game and he is always the winner. But it’s different this time around. She doesn’t know what it is, but she can feel a shift in his behavior. She can sense that, at times, he is trying to help her, whether she wants it or not. Other times, he says or does something that completely pushes her over the edge. Something to make her believe that he is only in this game to continue to carry out the complete ruin of her father, with no regard to her heart and her dreams.
“And still I don’t walk away. Something draws me inside. The force of Gabriel himself, maybe, the magnetic attraction of him. My opposite. My downfall…
…I kneel, the floor hard and painful beneath my knees. He moves to stand in front of me, nothing but solidity and shadow, his white shirt open at the neck, revealing a dusting of hair. His hand clasps my neck loosely, a gentle threat. I swallow against his palm, nerves overcoming my desire to submit. Then he curves his palm around so he’s cupping me, fingers gently stroking the sensitive skin at my nape. He could hurt me like this. He could use me. He pulls me close until my cheek rests against his thigh. It’s like he’s blessing me, absolving me, but how could that be possible when he’s the worst sinner of all? He can’t save me.”
One thing I know,  is that Skye Warren knows how to leave her readers on the edge, wanting, begging for more. This book is no different so prepare yourselves! I can’t wait to read how Avery’s and Gabriel’s story continues.

Cold Hearted by Winter Renshaw…Release Day Blitz

I wish I could say our meeting was happenstance.

I wish I could say we took one look and we just knew.

I wish I could say falling for him was the best thing that ever happened to me.

But none of that would be true.

Rhett Carson was as cold as the ice on which he skated. He was as calloused as the hands that shot the goals that won world titles. He was also damaged. And broken. And he didn’t know it, but I knew all about him.

I knew why he was so bitter and angry.

I knew why he was so coldhearted.

But I didn’t know why I allowed myself fall in love with him, and I didn’t know why I couldn’t stop…even when he told me to.

And that’s when everything changed.

“How do you know where I am?” I ask.
“You called me last night, remember?” My former college roommate answers, huffing into the phone.
I rest my elbows against the counter, hunched forward. “No. I don’t remember anything about last night.”
“Not surprising. You never could hold your liquor,” she says, sighing. “Plus you said you were drinking Jäger, and you always do stupid shit when you drink Jäger. You should probably check your phone and make sure you didn’t call any ex-boyfriends.” She coughs. “Ethan.” She coughs again. “Noah.”
Shit. She’s probably right. She knows me well.
“Anyway, I’ll be there innnnn about five minutes,” Bostyn says.
I hang up with her and check my call history with suspended breath, breathing easy when I see there are no Ethans or Noahs in my call history. It never fails. I get drunk–I drunk dial ex-boyfriends. I’m a sentimental, gushing idiot when I’ve had too much to drink, and the alcohol always makes me temporarily forget all the reasons we didn’t work out, even if those reasons were rock solid.
Pulling up Safari on my phone, I check my web history as well because I’ve been known to do a bit of drunk-emailing in my day, though I suppose that comes with the whole writer territory. My agent tells me I’m the only person she knows who drunk–emails people, but I don’t believe her. There are more of us out there, I just know it.
Within seconds, I’m able to confirm the contents of my Google search history seem about right.

Fifteen Nights by Zoe Lee

Publication Date: January 26th, 2017

Genre: Contemporary Romance

An all new STANDALONE novel from Zoe Lee is now LIVE!!

zoe-fifteen-nights-ebook-copy

The deeper they look, the harder they fall.

Jamie Houston was supposed to just be Leda Riveau’s Thursday night (and maybe Friday morning) fun.

Leda has awesome brothers, friends who are as allergic to emotions as she is, and a great job. She’s back in her hometown, Maybelle County, after a romantic and professional disaster three years ago in Nashville. It might not be what she planned when she was a teenager, but it’s perfect.

Or, well, it’s almost perfect. Because Leda is still angry and bitter about Nashville, and everyone knows it. She hates romance and doesn’t do relationships, and her younger brother’s trying to get her to be nicer. But she’s not nice. She even has her own hashtag: #ledagoesnuclear.

Then she sees Jamie again, when he’s between serious girlfriends, and discovers that the chemistry she’s always suspected is right there, ready to explode if she lets it.

Jamie is a serial monogamist who’s always liked Leda, but the timing’s never been right. After he sees her while they’re both single for the first time since high school, he knows he wants to be with her. Everybody knows she doesn’t date and doesn’t get serious, but he’s always serious, especially because he has a three-year-old son and a three-hour commute to get from work to Leda.

What starts out as a casual Thursday night arrangement gets messy when Leda and Jamie also have interfering friends, sad brothers, a pushy mom, an amazing son, and chemistry so intense it’s scary.

How does a man who needs forever win a woman who hates romance?

Excerpt:

I stalk-strolled towards her, my patience stretched paper-thin by desire.

I crowded close, so tall and wide that she couldn’t see anything else but me, and my hand cupped her waist. She stumbled against the wall, her feet wide apart to keep her balanced.

“You’re so damn tall,”I murmured. Still a few inches shorter than I was in her heels, she angled her head back, her hair scraping the textured wallpaper, to meet my eyes again. My thumb stroked in arcs over her hips and I saw her try to suppress a shiver. “You must be six-three in those heels. Usually I can’t look a woman in the eye unless we’re lying down.

”Her eyes flashed fire and she asked belligerently, “Are you going to keep me here till midnight?”

I ran my fingertips down her earlobes and chandelier earrings, not bothering to confirm what was obvious. I knew she didn’t want to go anywhere either. If Leda Riveau didn’t want to be somewhere, she sure as hell would’ve told me so and moved.

When the crowd screamed and chorused “Happy New Year,”I half-smiled.

My face dipped until the tips of our noses grazed together, testing the boundaries, and when she only parted her red lips, I laid mine against them for the first time.

Light flickered behind my closed eyelids as her mouth softened a fraction.

But I didn’t want her soft, I wanted her fierce and dynamic, so I caught her around the waist. My voice dropped in volume and register while I demanded, “Kiss me harder, Leda.”

Her arms wound around me and her nails dug into my neck, scratching hard as she swooped in and bit at my bottom lip before her nimble tongue pushed into my mouth.

I couldn’t have stopped the heartfelt moan that escaped into the air between our open lips.

But at the noise, she pulled back sharply and looked at me, brows creasing. I didn’t know what had made Dunk say what he had, but I knew plenty of gossip about everyone in Maybelle, and I’d never heard so much as a word about her sleeping around.

I wanted to reassure her, but I knew that the usual platitudes about how she was beautiful and Dunk was a fucking idiot wouldn’t work because they’d make her feel too vulnerable. My best shot was probably self-deprecation, to shift the attention to my shit and away from her.

So I hooked her hair behind her ears, smoothing the disarray I’d caused.

“Do you know how many women run from this?”I pointed at my eyes. “I always have to hide it. I haven’t been able to do that with you tonight, and all you’ve done is stare right back.”

“I, uh, like it. It makes me feel special,”she practically stammered. “And that’s incredibly…”She swallowed, her eyes dipping down to my mouth again. “…tempting.”

My gaze sharpened with desire. “I would like to make love with you.”

She jabbed a finger in my chest. “You cannot call it that,”she ordered. “No bullshit about how you were moon-eyed over me half our lives ago when we didn’t know shit about shit.”

I grabbed her finger and reeled her in.

“You can stare at me all you want,”she half-babbled, “but this is just good chemistry.”

I may be the villain of the story, but at least I get a leading role.
Evil is a term thrown around history and literature as if it’s something so easily definable. A concept to fight against.
Evil doesn’t exist.
Neither does ‘good.’
Vampires do, though.
I just happen to be one.
I’ve cruised through the centuries managing to avoid all the wars, supernatural and human, but still going to all the best parties.
I would say I avoided bloodshed, but it’s kind of part of the whole ‘vampire’ thing.
I’ve lived on the fringes of a society that considered cruelty and sadism favorable character traits for almost five hundred years. Now I’m in the middle of a war that might just put my nonbeating heart in a lot of danger.
Battles, I can handle.
The impossible attraction between me and the vampire slayer, not to mention the penetrating gaze of the king of our race, on the other hand?
I might not get out undead.

The Bachelor Auction by Rachel Van Dyken…Paperback Release

THE BACHELOR AUCTION by Rachel Van Dyken (January 31, 2017; Forever Mass Market Paperback; $7.99; The Bachelors of Arizona Book 1)

NOW IN PAPERBACK!

The first book in an all-new contemporary romance series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken.

Cinderella never had to deal with this crap.

Jane isn’t entirely sure that Cinderella got such a raw deal. Sure, she had a rough start, but didn’t she eventually land a prince and a happily-ever-after? Meanwhile, Jane is busy waiting on her demanding, entitled sisters, running her cleaning business, and . . . yep, not a prince in sight. Until a party and a broken shoe incident leave Jane wondering if princes—or at least, a certain deliciously hunky billionaire—maybe do exist.

Except Brock Wellington isn’t anyone’s dream guy. Hell, a prince would never agree to be auctioned off in marriage to the highest bidder. Or act like an arrogant jerk—even if it was just a façade. Now, as Brock is waiting for the auction chopping block, he figures it’s karmic retribution that he’s tempted by a sexy, sassy woman he can’t have. But while they can’t have a fairy-tale ending, maybe they can indulge in a little bit of fantasy . . .

Text 2 Lovers by K. Webster & J.D. Hollyfield…Review Tour

Text 2 Lovers

by K. Webster & J.D. Hollyfield
Publication Date: January 24, 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romantic Comedy

It’s the start of nothing good.
I fired off a storm of raunchy text messages…to the wrong number.
And he replied.
Him: Show me a picture.
Him: Tell me your name.
Why does the lure of anonymity have me craving to indulge a stranger?

It’s the start of everything right.
I received a slew of text messages…when everything in my life was wrong.
And she made me laugh again.
Her: You’re probably a creeper.
Her: Possibly a stalker.
Why do I have the overwhelming need to find this stranger who saved me and make her mine?

Him: Take a chance with me.
Her: This is crazy.
Him: I need to see you.
Her: What are we doing?
Him: We’re about to find out.

Her: PHOTO ATTACHED
Him: PHOTO ATTACHED

So I am probably going to be in the minority with this book.  Text 2 Lovers was just ok for me for various reasons.

I was curious to read Text 2 Lovers after reading the blurb.  There was a book not long ago that I read where their relationship started off with a wrong text and I really liked their story.  So I had high hopes of really enjoying this book.  While I did enjoy parts of it, I was slightly let down.

Text 2 Lovers is about Ram and Dani who become acquainted because of a text to a wrong number.  Love the concept but I didn’t like that the reason behind the wrong text was exactly the same as the other book I had read.  To me, personally, if felt like they had taken that author’s idea and copied it into their story.  I wish they would have made it like a wrong number due to misinterpreting numbers or something along those lines.  So right there, I was already tempted to stop.  But, I wanted to give this book a chance.

Everything is going great between Dani and Ram.  And that’s where it should have ended.  The way their story continues just didn’t sit well with me.  It felt like they needed a dramatic moment to add something to the book where I thought Dani and Ram’s story was perfect.   Yes, it would be a novella, but I felt it was cute story.

The only redeeming part to this book for me is Roman and Andie.  These two had me in stitches when they had to interact with one another.  Andie is a spitfire and Roman it seems is up for the challenge she provides.  I am excited to read their story because I know it will be hilarious and full of fire.

If you’ve never read any books where the relationship starts off with a wrong text, then you will enjoy this book.  The writing is great and the authors do a great job of writing this characters.  However, if you’re like me and have read a book with this same idea, you may not enjoy it as much.

Cold Hearted by Winter Renshaw…Excerpt Reveal

Coming January 31st

“I should probably get your number,” I say.
He wrinkles his nose. “Why?”
“I don’t know. In case I wind up pregnant or something. You came a lot. And condoms aren’t always one hundred percent.”
His expression turns to ash until he realizes I’m kidding.
“Anyway.” I pull my blouse over my head and fluff my hair around my shoulders. “Thanks for that.”
I’m halfway to the door with my purse over my shoulder when he says, “Thanks for that? What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
“It’s just an expression. What am I supposed to say?” I shrug. If I tell him it was amazing and we should do it again, then it’s going to turn into a thing. A big, ugly, complicated thing that I won’t be able to explain my way out of.
“Nothing,” he says. “Just say nothing. You don’t have to make it all awkward by thanking me for sex. Who does that?”
“I’m sorry. Does that make you feel used?” I hide my chuckle with my hand, and he comes at me with a giant smirk on his face, pressing his hard-as-steel chest against my body until my back’s against the door.
“God, you have a smart mouth.” His hand lifts to my face, and he drags his thumb along my lower lip, his eyes fixated there as if he’s replaying the last thirty minutes in his head.
I’m painfully aware of the fact that our mouths are inches, maybe even mere centimeters apart. If he wanted to kiss me again, I’d let him. I wouldn’t say no. I wouldn’t protest or try to stop him, even though it’d be the right thing to do.
Kissing Rhett feels different from any other man, and I’m not sure if it’s because of his his powerful, complicated aura—or the fact that something so morally, ethically wrong could feel so dangerously good.
I want to ask what he’s doing when our gazes catch. I want to know what this is. And why me? But I know this can never be anything, so asking would be pointless. Besides, more than likely he’s just a horny guy who saw a girl in a bar and decided to go in for the kill.
In my heart of hearts, I know our time together was more about convenience than poetics.
“I should go,” I say, releasing a sheltered breath.
His smirk fades, along with the dimples I’m just now noticing, and his steely gaze darkens.
“Yeah,” he says, as if he’s suddenly drawn the same conclusions but for reasons all his own. “You should.”

No Fear by Jess Bryant…Release Blitz and Review

Title: No Fear
Series: Bomar Boys #3
Author: Jess Bryant
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 30, 2017
Blurb

Every small town has that one family that’s more savage than civilized. The ones that are more myth and legend than man. In Old Settlers, Oklahoma that’s the Bomar boys. Wild, reckless and vicious, they skirt the line of criminal and trip over it more often than not. They are their own punchline: white trash but proud beyond compare. Dirty and dangerously sexy, it’s best to steer clear of them or else risk your life… and your heart. These are their stories.Rachel Grant lives every day in fear. Scared that she’ll always be the kind of girl that nobody notices. Scared that her brother will figure out quiet doesn’t mean deaf or stupid and put together that she knows far more than she should. And what she knows has her fearing for her life because in a small town like Old settlers everybody knows that you don’t cross the Bomar boys. She needs help. Somebody she can trust. Somebody strong. Somebody that can protect her… and she knows just the guy.

Remy Bomar ran away from what being a Bomar meant when he was eighteen. Ten years later, he’s finally come home and he’s sworn that he’ll do anything to take back his place within the family. He didn’t protect the people he loved when he was young and he won’t make the same mistake again.

When the cute, shy, girl next door looks up at him with fear in her eyes, what he feels is far from simply protective. He wants her safe but he also wants her to be his. Being a Bomar, those two things have a tendency to be mutually exclusive, particularly since his family has a traitor hell bent on hitting them where it hurts.

What happens when the truth comes out? When Remy finds out she knows far more about the threat to his family than she’s been letting on? When Rachel has to choose between her family… or his? Will they find the strength they need to overcome their fears once and for all?

*No Fear is the third book in the Bomar Boys series but can be read as a stand-alone. Each book features one couple and a HEA but will build on each other so they are best read in order.

**Warning** – This book contains explicit language, sexual scenes and violence. Though not depicted, mentions of domestic violence are key to the story and can be a trigger for some.

So sometimes I read a book and I get a little butterfly or two in my stomach because I get so excited when two characters fall in love. Especially ones that are not suppose too be for each other. No Fear gave me so many butterflies I could not put the book down! I had to see what happen next and No Fear had me from page to page. Jess Bryant took me away and placed me in the world of Remy Bomar and I did not want to leave! OH that Remy! Yum. Bad Boy who protects his family at all cost and the girl he is falling for- I mean there just is no other way to write a romance. However, Jess Bryant throws in this incredible curve that makes you just want to wrap your arms around Rachel and hug her tight.

Rachel and Remy are the perfect book couple. The feelings that they share for each other really jumped off the pages and I just wanted them to work out so much! This book can be read as a standalone and I was not familiar with the Bomar Boys but you do not feel like you miss anything. I will tell you that I did start reading No Regrets because I am hooked. In fact, I hope more are to come of these boys because they all can tug at your heart!

Gravity by Lauren Runrow…Review Tour

Please join us in celebrating the release of GRAVITY by Lauren Runow!

Title: GRAVITY by Lauren Runow
Age Group: Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 24, 2017

Book Description

Gravity is not your normal, sweet romance of childhood friends to lovers. Spanning over twenty years—it’s raw, it’s real, asking the question if soul mates really exist.

Lily
At eight years old, the boy next door changed my life. He was the force pulling me toward him despite our differences. It was like magic.
We understood each other, supported each other and in the process became everything to each other.
But in chasing Trevin’s dream, I lost myself along the way.Trevin
Through tremendous heartache, she was there. Through fame and fortune, she was there. Loving Lily was the one thing I got right.
Eclipsing her in my shadow, I took from her until she was empty. Now I must do anything to prove I can be the man she wants, no, the man she deserves.

Gravity is my first book by Lauren Runrow.  I am always slightly hesitant to read a new author, especially in a genre where I am quick finicky.  There are very few rock star romances that I am fan of only because I know what I like and don’t like in them.  Lauren gave me a different side that I wasn’t expecting and I actually enjoyed it.

Gravity is so much more than just the rock star ambiance of sex, drugs and music.  Yes, it’s there but it’s more of muted point.  It’s not a driving force in this book; it’s almost viewed expected and accepted.  Gravity is more about watching two friends grow – sometimes together and sometimes apart.  It’s got its sweet moments and it’s got its ugly and moments.

Trevin and Lily are two kids who become instant friends at the age of 8.  They are there for each other through everything as they grow up.  Lily is there when Trev gets his big break and does her best to stay right there with him as his life blows up.  Lily is getting herself through college and tries to teach dance as much as she can.  And when things are finally falling into place for them, they are finally ready to give way to what has always been there – them together.  But not every HEA is without it’s drama along the way.

“You’ll always be my gravity.  You’re what I need to stay grounded, no matter where I go, no matter what happens, remember that.  Only you.”

Lauren really surprised with how this story progressed.  I knew at some point a problem had to arise and when it came to fruition, as much as I knew it was going to happen, I was still slightly shocked by it and how everything plays out afterwards .  Lauren lays this book out nicely.  If flows extremely and I love that it’s told from both their POV’s.  I enjoy how she wrote Trev and Lily’s story.  It’s honest, real and raw.

If you are like me and have enjoy a good YA/NA book, I highly recommend giving this book a go.  I will definitely be looking to more of Lauren’s other books.
