The Veiled Kingdom is a nice start to a new series, The Veiled Kingdom.

This is a fantasy romance that starts off a bit slow for us fantasy readers but still has the right touch to keep you intrigued and turning the pages. There was just something in this book that kept me glued to its pages and wanting to know what would happen.

I enjoyed the banter and relationship building between each of the characters. The story is told from both Nyra and Dacre’s POVs and that truly helps add another layer to this story. It’s very well written and the flow is perfect for what needs to happen and build up the plot intensity.

My biggest issue and the only reason I did not rate this book 5 stars was the lack of world building. A huge part of a fantasy romance is the world building and letting readers visualize this fantastic world and all the ins and outs of the people who inhabit it and their abilities. While there are some descriptions, there is alot missing that would give this book that perfect additional layer.

Overall, I really did enjoy this book and cannot wait to see what happens next with Nyra, Dacre and the impasse that they are currently at.

Walk of Shame was right down the middle ok for me.

The blurb intrigued me and the beginning of the story kept me hooked. However, at one point, things just sort of went flat for me. And the ending felt rushed and unrealistic. And the epilogue – that was quite the shocking revelation.

I enjoyed how Astrid and Cal navigated their relationship. I did want to see more of an emotional attachment between them and not just the physical one. But let me tell you, those spicy scenes were done well.

Overall, it was an ok read for me.

I’m not sure how to rate this one..🫤 so it’s right down the middle for me.

Ok. Let me preface this by saying I usually enjoy Whitney’s stories and her characters.
With this one, I enjoyed the FMC much more than the MMC.

The plot line itself is intriguing, and I liked the unknown factors and twists thrown in. However, certain parts could’ve been fleshed out better, and a few things were left unknown.

Readers will definitely see the physical attraction between these two, but it lacked the chemistry beyond that.

Damien is an interesting MMC. He’s an alpha-asshole with a capital A, and his arrogance knows no bounds. But he’s also found himself unable to resist Elizabeth, and he can’t reconcile with himself why.

Elizabeth is a fierce FMC. I love that she takes zero crap from Damien. She holds her own & delivers his wrath back at him. But she’s hiding secrets just like Damien, and those secrets will be their downfall.

Again, there are parts I thoroughly enjoyed with this book. And others that I wanted to see more fleshed out to give the story more depth and a connection not only between the characters but for readers to connect to.

Overall, right down the middle for me.

I did not read the first two books in this series and I did not once feel lost or misunderstand the bonds between every one of these characters. I was fully engrossed and enamored by these characters and knowing that if I read the first two books would make me fully appreciate the story – I just can’t comprehend that because I absolutely more than fully appreciated this story. But I did buy the first two books just so I could read about Macon and Lennon’s story.

“I want a true north kind of love.”

The Love You Fight For was everything I had not realized I needed right now. From Sam’s fierce and resolute determination to fight her own battles to Chris’s unwavering protectiveness and loyalty to Sam – my heart and soul were right there with these two through the entire book.

“Let me be your peace.”

Brit truly knows how to well developed characters with many facets to them all the while delivering a plot that keeps readers right at the edge the whole time. Brit does a phenomenal job of intertwining the romance with the suspense of this story and keeping things engaging.

“What better way to take down dangerous men than with the very monster they created.”

I cannot express how much I loved this book and how it just brought out every emotion in me and just fully immersed me in the story and these characters’ lives. Definitely a top 2024 read for me.

BRILLIANT!! Parker and LJ have once again given readers another phenomenal fairytale retelling.

My Dark Desire was so much more than I anticipated and I loved every bit of this story.

The banter, not just between Farrow and Zach, but between all the guys, between Farrow and her ladies – the dialogue overall was perfection. Loved it!!

I had not anticipated to laugh so much with this book. It was just another bonus to this very well written and perfectly paced story

I highly enjoyed all the sub-plots within this book and how everything just blended together wonderfully and kept readers fully engaged from start to finish.

My review is purposely devoid of any story details because you must read this without any more knowledge than the blurb. It’s so much enjoyable when you experience the story just like I did.

Another great story from these two! I am looking forward to Oliver’s story and how that one will play out.

Blitz is the second book in Devney’s Treasure State Wildcats series and can be read as a complete standalone.

I had been looking forward to Toren’s book after meeting him in Coach and Devney delivered exactly what I wanted.

Toren and Jennsyn’s story started out with the best bang and flowed wonderfully from there. The angst that comes with a forbidden college romance was delivered perfectly. I enjoyed how their sports were intertwined into the story and helped add to their tension.

Overall, Blitz played out beautifully. I was not a big fan of the ending but loved that everything came full circle.
