A complete dark romance trilogy from USA Today bestselling author Siobhan Davis. Contains an EXCLUSIVE BONUS NOVELLA set twelve years after the end of Reign.
Everything changed the night my dad died.
The night I met Saint, Galen, Caz, and Theo.
Those manipulative a-holes set out to ruin me after our hot night together, but they didn’t realize you can’t destroy something that’s already broken. And it only works if the victim cares.
Which I don’t.
Because I’ve been in hell for years, and nothing penetrates the steel walls I’ve erected.
I am a USA Today bestselling author and I write emotionally intense young adult and new adult fiction with swoon-worthy romance, complex characters, and tons of unexpected plot twists and turns that will have you flipping the pages beyond bedtime!
My family will tell you I am little bit obsessive when it comes to reading and writing, and they aren’t wrong. I can rarely
be found without my trusty Kindle, a paperback book, or my laptop somewhere close at hand.
Prior to becoming a full-time writer, I forged a successful corporate career in human resource management.
I reside in the Garden County of Ireland with my husband and two sons.
“A breathtaking romantic experience that will have you on the edge of your seat. Allen delivers a poignant new adult must-read.” – Kandi Steiner, Bestselling Author
A Bridge Between Us, an all-new standalone small-town romance from USA Today bestselling author K.K. Allen is available now!
I had always known he wasn’t mine to keep, but that didn’t change the way I loved him—quietly, gently, and from afar.
As the seasons changed, the corn stalks grew strong, and the grapevines flourished with hope. But none of it mattered, not when the soil at our feet bound us in a century-old rivalry. We’d never even had a chance.
They said life flashed before your eyes on the way to death, but on that night, after my final scream burst from my throat and my world started to fade to black, I only thought of him. Of his sweet chocolate eyes, his desperately cautious stare, and his silence that carried more weight than gold.
I should have died that night. Instead, I crossed the moonlit bridge and never returned. I let rivalry win. If only that had been enough to keep us all safe. If only we didn’t have a bridge between us.

Excerpt:
She starts to move past me toward the record player when something strong and instinctual—something that feels like fate—gives me a hard punch in the chest. I grab her hand and pull her back to me. Surprised, she stumbles a little, and her palms break her fall on my chest. When she recovers, she meets my gaze, and I don’t try to interpret it. Instead, I move her arms around my neck, wrap mine around her waist, and start to move.
Her eyes narrow, but they have a glimmer in them. “Oh, so now you want to dance.”
I cringe a little. “I don’t think you can call this dancing. And to be fair, I don’t think you can call what you were doing dancing either.”
Not even her harsh glare can hide the amusement she finds at my joke. She purses her lips to hold back her laugh then swats at my chest before moving her hand back around my neck. “At least I was having fun.”
“Oh, I was having fun watching you. Besides, you didn’t seem to have a problem with my moves at prom.”
Her cheeks redden, and when my gaze slips down to her neck, I find that part of her skin is changing color too. She’s flushed all over, and I can’t help but get excited that I’m doing that to her.
“Yeah, well, you also bribed me with a dozen pink roses, a tent, and a pretty necklace, so we probably shouldn’t compare experiences.”
At the mention of her necklace, my gaze locks on her throat, even though I already know it isn’t there. When she picked me up from the jail, she wasn’t wearing it then either. The disappointment weighed heavily, and as much as I want to ask her where it is, I choose not to go there. I had no right to question it back then, and I still don’t. “Just give me a few minutes, and I can rectify all that.”
She smiles gently back at me, and the mood shifts from playful to serious. “You would, wouldn’t you?”
My heart pounds so hard that I can feel it between my ears. I cup her neck while slowly moving a finger across her cheek, and I glance at her lips before locking on her eyes. “I would do anything for you, Camila. That hasn’t changed, and it never will.”
She blinks, as if she can’t believe me. I drop my forehead to hers, and when her eyelids flutter closed as a shaky breath rushes past her lips, I know she feels the same.
“How does this feel so normal?” Her words are just a whisper. “I close my eyes, and it’s like I’m right where I’m supposed to be.” She shakes her head. “I don’t understand.”
“What’s to understand? Our roots are deep, just like your vines, which adapt to every season. No matter the harsh weather, there’s always new growth.”
“Are you comparing our relationship to the life of a grape?”
The teasing in her voice makes me chuckle. “No. I’m comparing us to a whole damn vineyard. We’re the root.” I lean in, brush her lips with mine, and whisper, “You and me, Wild One.”
A shiver racks her entire body, and I tighten my hold around her, as if it could help. The way she’s engulfed in my arms brings me the most comfort I’ve felt in years. Camila’s right. This feels so normal and natural, like we were always meant to fit.
I brush my lips against hers again, almost expecting her to pull away and tell me it’s too soon or too late. Either one of those responses would be understandable. But when her fingernails dig into my back, I don’t ignore the message. I mold my mouth to hers and kiss her hard.
Her firm lips respond to mine immediately, and she steals every bit of my air as she breathes me in. I explore the taste and feel of her like it’s the very first time. In a way, that’s exactly what this is. It’s been ten years since our lips last touched, and though I’ve dreamed about it, nothing could have prepared me for the real feeling of our mouths moving as one, our breaths tangling with heat and desire, or our hands wandering as our mouths keep a slow and steady pace. The kiss is so consuming and powerful that I feel an awakening within me. And when she parts my mouth with hers and sweeps her tongue over mine, a growl rumbles through me.
A Bridge Between Us is another amazing standalone from K.K. Allen. It is more than just a story, it is an experience.
I truly don’t know where to start with this one. This book is so much more than just a romance. It’s a story about family, heritage and coming into your own. Allen wove such a beautiful story and gave us characters that will stay with us for years to come.
I will do my best to not give away too much in my review because this book truly must be read without my knowledge beforehand.
This book is told from three POV’s, yes three. And no, it is not what you are thinking. Just know that Allen crafted and woven a very strategic plot line. She delivers all the angst, suspense and drama wrapped up in a beautiful story.
Readers will love Camila and Ridge. Camila has a wild spirit and doesn’t shy away from much. Ridge is one the sweetest but reserved and keeps to himself. These two are at odds as to how to go about their friendship/relationship, but sometimes you it’s impossible to ignore two souls when they find one another.
A Bridge Between Us is more than the romance though. Reading about the families, their heritages and watching both Camila and Ridge grow and come into their own was such an adventure. This book is long, but it’s all those little nuances and trinkets of information that Allen intricately places throughout the book, that comes perfectly together in the end.
This book is a journey and one I was so glad I took. I love Allen’s writing and how deep she dives into her characters and their stories. If you want something more than just a romance, definitely pick this one up. You won’t regret it.

Blurb: #1 Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills delivers an all-new enemies-to-lovers romance that blurs the lines between revenge and love…
River Tate is a god on campus. The king of football. A tattooed bad boy with gunmetal eyes that see right through you. The only chink in his armor is her, the girl he pretends doesn’t exist, the forbidden one with the shy smile and lavender hair.
Anastasia Bailey is a nobody. The queen of nothing. An outsider with the face of an angel and a body made for sin. The only chink in her armor is him, her boyfriend’s frat brother, the football player who hates her.
But when Anastasia’s life crashes down, River’s the one who sweeps in and picks up the pieces. Torn between loyalty, lies, and secrets, he battles the temptation to take everything from her when they make their revenge pact.
He can’t tell her no. Because revenge (or love) is sweet, and once you get a taste, the craving never ends.
About Ilsa Madden-Mills: Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and USA Today best-selling author Ilsa Madden-Mills is best known for her angsty new adult romances and romantic comedies.
Twelve of her Sixteen novels have placed in the Amazon Top 10 Best-seller List: Dirty English #1; Not My Romeo #1; Dear Ava, Fake Fiancée, I Dare You, and I Promise You #2; I Hate You #5; I Bet You, Filthy English, and Very Bad Things #6; Boyfriend Bargain #8; The Last Guy, her collaboration with Tia Louise, #4.
A former high school English teacher, she adores all things Pride and Prejudice, and of course, Mr. Darcy is her ultimate hero.
She’s addicted to frothy coffee beverages, cheesy magnets, and any book featuring unicorns and sword-wielding females.
So why am I on a plane, flying across the world to spend a week with her in Germany?
One word: Pops.
My life’s a mess. My possible football career is hanging on by a thread. I’m driving the roads of Germany in honor of Pops with the one girl I can never have. And I’m sharing a bed with her, the girl I’ve measured everyone else up to, while desperately trying to not to touch her.
We made a pact growing up, never to get romantic with each other – never fall in love.
And I’m about to break that pact. For good.

Blurb: How hard can it be?
That was the question rolling around Larissa Mason’s mind just before she asked Hollis Hudson to be her fake boyfriend.
It was only supposed to be for five minutes, after all.
Granted, that was also before she felt his hand on the small of her back as he charmed the heck out of her family.
She hadn’t heard his laugh yet either.
And it was definitely before she saw the football god shirtless. Otherwise, she would’ve had an idea of just how hard some things could be.
It turns out that pretending to be in love with a crazily handsome, somewhat enigmatic, and absolutely unforgettable tight end (that has an amazing tight end) is easy.
Reminding herself that just because opposites attract doesn’t mean they’re forever is much harder.
What they have isn’t love—it’s a relationship pact. Right?
About Adriana: USA Today and Washington Post bestselling author Adriana Locke lives and breathes books. After years of slightly obsessive relationships with the flawed bad boys created by other authors, Adriana has created her own.
She resides in the Midwest with her husband, sons, and two dogs. She spends a large amount of time playing with her kids, drinking coffee, and cooking. You can find her outside if the weather’s nice and there’s always a piece of candy in her pocket.
Bound by Forever, a True Immortality Novel by S. Young is now live!
New York Times Bestselling author Samantha Young writing as S. Young.
Niamh Farren has been burdened by knowledge for most of her life. As one of seven fae children born into the human world with the ability to open the gate to Faerie, Niamh’s mission is to guide her fae brethren to do what’s right. Because Niamh has seen what will happen to the human world if she does not protect the gate. Throughout the years, she’s traveled the world with her brother Ronan, using her psychic visions to find the fae-borne and convince them to stay on the path that will keep the gate from opening. She has sacrificed much … but when she loses her brother to the mission, Niamh begins to lose herself.
For nearly one hundred and fifty years, werewolf Kiyo has wandered the planet as a lost soul. Cursed with immortality, he spends his awful eternity as a mercenary for hire. When the powerful Fionn Mór confides the truth about the existence of Faerie and hires Kiyo to protect one of the fae-borne, he accepts the challenge out of boredom, not heroism. Yet Niamh is unexpected in every way the werewolf can possibly imagine.
Guarding Niamh from her enemies is nowhere near as challenging as protecting the fae woman from herself. If Kiyo is to succeed, he must help Niamh find herself again, and not just for her sake. Ignoring the fierce connection between them may no longer be an option. A new enemy is rising and threatening to rip open the gate between worlds. To remind Niamh of who she really is, Kiyo must make the choice to lower his defenses and give into their bond. Or safeguard his own heart … and in doing so lead the human world to the brink of war.

Bound By Forever is the third book in Young’s True Immortality series and can be read as a standalone, but I would not recommend it. Many of the characters are either introduced in other books and are mentioned as the books are released. However, you don’t need any prior knowledge to read each book. But I would recommend reading them in order so you have a much more fulfilling experience as you read them.
Young’s third book brings us an immortal werewolf sent to find and protect a very powerful fae. Niamh has many enemies that want to find her and kill her. Kiyo made a pact with another immortal to find and keep Niamh safe from her enemies and possibly herself.
And that is all that you are getting from me about this book. I won’t ruin it by spilling the beans accidentally. This story is a slow-burn and it’s necessary with this one. The storyline and how things progress cannot be rushed. You can feel the tension and angst roll off the pages as everything plays out.
Even though each book is showcases a particular couple, there is an underlying plot that is happening throughout each book. I love that Young summarizes a lot to keep readers up-to-date on what has happened without taking away from the story and gives new readers a better insight. As always, we are left with smiles for the current couple but are let eagerly awaiting what we will get in the next book.
If you love paranormal romances, I highly suggest you read this series. Young delivers book after book full of a whole new world with unique characters that we wish could be real.
From Bestselling Authors M. Robinson & Rachel Van Dyken comes a full length, standalone romantic suspense novel
_______________________________
Trust. Loyalty. Family. The tangled web of mafia life. We grew up together. Me, Eden, my brother Tristian. He was always the safe bet, the sure thing, the good guy. And me? Well, I was the Casanova, the killer who flirted with anyone and anything, breaking Eden’s heart again and again. We both loved her. Mind. Body. Soul.
Until I gifted her to my brother as if she meant nothing, when she meant everything to me. Tristian was safer. Better. Could give her the life I never would be able to. But things changed. We changed. My only goal was to protect her, making her hate me in return. Except once my brother wasn’t standing between us anymore, I decided… It was my turn to claim what had always been MINE to begin with.
MAFIA CASANOVA: Full length Standalone Romantic Suspense Novel
When two of my favorite suspense and mafia authors decided to join forces to write a book together, I knew it was going to be really damn good.
Mafia Casanova is the start of a new series for Rachel Van Dyken and M. Robison, however this can easily be read as a standalone. Mafia Casanova is a spinoff from both RVD & Robinson’s mafia series but you do not need to read any of those books to start this one.
“Nobody harmed what was mine; it didn’t matter that his wing was on her finger – she owned my soul and mine recognized hers as one thing. Ours.”
Romeo Sinacore is a killer. However, that’s his job in the mafia and he’s damn good at it. He’s also extremely irresistible and uses that to his benefit too, except one girl who’s always seen through his charm. Eden De Rossi
Tristan Sinacore is a numbers man. He’s always been the one to make sure everything looks exactly as it needs to be seen. And Eden has always been his weakness.
Eden De Rossi has been raised in the mafia world because her father is a made man. She’s grown up besides both Sinacore brothers and has always appreciated them both for the qualities that each possess. She’s now in position she never thought she’d be in.
“No….because I’m a sinner, stumbling, bleeding into the garden of Eden, it’s the only place I fina my salvation…..In you.”
RVD and Robinson weave a very intricate and enticing story between three best friends. It is told in both past and present times. I truly enjoyed how they placed each puzzle piece as the story played out; the scenes lined up perfectly with one another and allowed the story to unfold and flow beautifully.
Mafia Casanova is the perfect start to a new mafia series by RVD and Robinson. They’ve set the new book up wonderfully and I cannot wait to see where they take us next.

A new second chance single dad stand alone romance set in the world of the Wrights from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…
At seventeen, I left Isaac Donoghue behind to become a professional ballerina.
When I return home to dance in the Nutcracker, I never expect to run into him. Let alone on my first day in town.
I can’t help but admire him in a crisp suit with his toned soccer body, chiseled jawline, and all too familiar piercing green eyes. I thought nothing could surprise me more.
Until his five year old daughter runs out of the ballet studio.
I’m only in town for a month. I shouldn’t get involved with anyone, especially the ex I’ve been pining after for years.
Especially now that he’s a single dad with a daughter to consider.
But where Isaac is concerned, I’ve never been able to stay away.
With the help of some Christmas magic, maybe we finally have a shot at our second chance.
If you are looking for a quick and sweet holiday romance, A Wright Christmas is the book you are looking for.
A Wright Christmas is novella that will feature small glimpses of characters from the Wright Series but you do not need to read any of those to enjoy this one.
The blurb tells you exactly what you get in this story, so I won’t bore you by repeating what the author tells you. What makes this story enjoyable is Isaac and persistence in showing Peyton he won’t be so easy to give up a second time.
This love story is sweet and gives you some warm tingly feelings. I did not notice that I get the deep emotions that I prefer to have in my romance stories, but this was a short book so it was to be expected. There is very little steamy parts and a few unnecessary dramatic parts, but overall, it’s what you can expect from a holiday romance novella.
Looking for a quick holiday read? A Wright Christmas will get you ready and leave you feeling in the holiday spirit.

K.A. Linde is the USA Today bestselling author of the Avoiding Series, Wrights, and more than thirty other novels.
She has a Masters degree in political science from the University of Georgia, was the head campaign worker for the 2012 presidential campaign at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and served as the head coach of the Duke University dance team.
She loves reading fantasy novels, binge-watching Supernatural, traveling, and dancing in her spare time.
She currently lives in Lubbock, Texas, with her husband and two super-adorable puppies.
I’d like to preface this by saying it was never my intention to ever get involved in a workplace romance, let alone get involved with the most surly, agitating, and pompous man I’ve ever met who just so happens to be my new friend’s brother.
My intentions were to show students how English and reading books could actually be fun and make a new life for myself in the suburbs of Chicago.
But so far, I’ve managed to be called into the principal’s office.
Coerced into participating in the teacher’s badminton league.
And instigated into passionate fights with Arlo Turner over education and decorum while losing my underwear at the same time.
Known as Mr. Turns Me On, he’s the reason I might get fired from my first ever teaching job.
PROLOGUE:
**GREER**
“Before we get started, I’ve been told I need to ask you a question.” Stella sits cross-legged in front of me, a nervous look on her face, water in hand.
“Oh?” I ask, trying to act casual as I bring my glass of red wine to my lips. I have a scary inkling what this might be about.
She glances over at Coraline and winces. “Uh, I feel weird asking.”
Oh God . . . I was right.
Shifting, I say, “You know, we don’t have to—”
“Then why bring it up if you’re not going to propose your query?” Keiko asks impatiently while pushing her green-rimmed glasses up on her nose. “You know the frequency of these meetings is dependent upon staying within the comprehensive itinerary I composed during my lunchbreak.”
“Cool your bloomers, Keeks,” Coraline says while taking a large sip from her wine glass. “I want to know what’s making Stella so fidgety.”
The four founding members of the Ladies in Heat Book Club—aka my mismatched collection of friends—each bring diverse and unique character traits to our group.
Keiko “Keeks” Seymour—resident AP chemistry teacher at Forest Heights High School. Her social etiquette is lacking, her intelligence is off the charts, and she’d rather play with beakers than penises. She wasn’t thrilled about the book club name and made a noble attempt to explain why her suggestion, the Austen Empowerment Collaborative, was far more credible. Majority ruled, she lost.
Stella Garcia—Spanish teacher at Forest Heights and my co-coach. Currently single, makes the best tamales I’ve ever had, and is one stamp away from getting a free donut at Frankie Donuts. Can be shy at times, but when it comes to her family and friends, she doesn’t take shit from anyone. Loyal to the core, one of the reasons I adore her.
Coraline “Cora” Turner—recent divorcée and living with her brother, Arlo. Jobless at the moment and couldn’t care less about it since both she and Arlo have enough inheritance to last them a lifetime. Often annoyed by her older brother or annoying him, doesn’t partake in Twitter—says it’s a filthy pool of opinions, and is the first to offer up a bottle of wine.
Then there’s me . . .
Greer Gibson—twenty-four-year-old fresh to the teaching scene as Forest Heights’s new English teacher and women’s volleyball coach. I love running, have a penchant for a man in a cardigan, and can get a little noisy in the classroom while teaching. I currently share a classroom wall with Arlo Turner, Forest Heights most prestigious English teacher, and might have lost my underwear—
“Out with it, Stella,” Cora says, snapping at her.
“Please, so we can proceed,” Keeks says, straightening her notepad on her lap.
Stella looks me in the eyes and says, “Brock wants to know if there’s anything going on between you and Turner. Apparently, Turner won’t say a thing, but Brock thinks there’s some strong sexual tension building.”
Cora whips her head to me, her eyes wide. “Are you getting it on with my brother?”
Finger pointed in the air, Keeks leans in and says, “The proper term amongst company would be coitus.” Rolling her eyes, Cora asks, “Did you have coitus with my brother?”
“You could also say intercourse if that amuses your jargon more,” Keeks adds. “Or copulating would be sufficient. But if you are inclined toward romantic terminology, since we are in the presence of the book club, you could say lovemaking or performing intimate acts. Although, given the circumstances of when coitus took place—in the work environment—I would deduce that your actions were performed carnally rather than with the interest of developing a devoted accord.”
“Good God, Keeks,” Cora says, irritated. “Who cares what it’s called? We just want to know if it happened.” Cora looks me in the eyes. “Did it?”
Did it . . .
Good question.
I’d like to preface this by saying it was never my intention to ever get involved in a workplace romance when I was hired at Forest Heights, let alone get involved with the most surly, agitating, and pompous man I’ve ever met.
My intentions were to show students how English and reading books could actually be fun, bring the volleyball team to a state championship, and make a new life for myself in the suburbs of Chicago.
But so far, I’ve managed to be called into the principal’s office.
Infiltrate the teachers’ athletic league.
And had passionate fights with Arlo Turner over education, decorum, and student-teacher friendships. Not to mention I’ve lost my panties to him in my dreams more than I care to admit.
Why did this all happen?
Simple.
The man dresses in a cardigan, that’s how.
Arlo Turner. The bane of my existence, annoyance to my sanity, and the only man who’s ever made me want to spread my legs in a classroom.
He’s torn down my metaphorical walls, strapped on a cottony cardigan—pushed up the sleeves—and has driven me to the brink of insanity, so now whenever I hear the mention of his name, my legs automatically spread, and my heartrate picks up.
Known as Mr. Turns Me On, he’s the reason my star athlete is struggling to keep her grades up.
He’s the reason I tend to avoid the teacher breakroom.
And he’s the reason I might get fired from my first ever teaching job.
See Me After Class is quick pace and funny story. I read this one so fast and enjoyed every aspect of it.
Greer is starting her first teaching job at public school that is held in high regards and one of the hardest for teachers to get jobs at. She has a unique take on teaching and it’s her methods that annoy a certain teacher.
Arlo was one of the teachers that interviewed Greer for he job and wasn’t all that happy when she was hired. He’s in charge of the English department and holds all his teachers accountable. However, Greer throws a wrench into everything and he’s not sure how to handle her.
I really enjoyed this book. You know that there is an attraction and some chemistry between Greer and Arlo. However, they both loathe one another for various reasons. But that sexual tension makes the anger between them even more charged.
Meghan writes characters that are quirky yet memorable and they feel so real. This book flowed beauitfully and the characters made it all the more enjoyable. The is was the perfect romcom for me. I cannot wait to see if she brings us books about a few other charcters we got to know in this one.

Armed with the only lesson she learned from her mother, Lydia builds a life of routine, solitude, and success. Nothing is out of reach when you’re beautiful. Nearly a decade after her arrival, Lydia’s the highest paid escort in the city, and only the most influential people in Grand Haven can get near her. Until a misunderstanding lands her in the office of the city’s most eligible bachelor. Talent Ridge is Grand Haven royalty. Despite running in the same circles as Lydia’s clients, he’s scandal-free and on his way to being the most powerful man in the area. Their chemistry is undeniable, but a relationship has the potential to destroy everything they’ve worked for. Especially when Lydia is running from her past, and Talent is running toward a future she can never be a part of. Beauty and money can’t save them this time. Are Lydia and Talent willing to give it all up for each other, or will their differences cost too much?
Tramp is the start of Mary’s next series and she does not hold back. This book was more than I anticipated and that made me love it even more
Lydia is a high-end escort; a tramp in Grand Haven. But she’s got her one set of rules and she refuses to budge from her routine.
Talent is one of Grand Haven’s most eligible bachelors and one of many prominent men.
Lydia is sent to entertain Talent, something that is outside her usual schedule. However, what makes things even more interesting is that Talent was unaware of who Lydia is. And that sends both on a path neither could have predicted.
I won’t go into many details about his book because that is what made this book come to life. Even the smallest details, gave this story another layer and more depth to the characters.
Getting to know Lydia and her past, sheds a lot of light on where she is now and why she operates the way she does. She is very cold and closed off. However, as the reader, you find yourself understanding why.
Talent had no problems holding back on how he felt towards Lydia. However, he himself has his own secrets. He’s not as pure as everyone thinks.
The passion and intense connection between Lydia and Talent set these pages on fire, even if it was just a look or a touch. I could not get enough of them.
I am quite intrigued on how things will continue in the next book. I enjoyed the added suspense that Mary weaved into this story. She delivered just right amount of puzzle pieces to keep things enticing and readers right at the edge.
Tramp is an intriguing read that flows at a beautiful pace with characters you will enjoy. I am so ready for the next book.
About the Author: Mary Elizabeth was born and raised in Southern California. She is a wife, mother of four beautiful children, and dog tamer to one enthusiastic Pit Bull and a prissy Chihuahua. She’s a hairstylist by day but contemporary fiction, new adult author by night. Mary can often be found finger twirling her hair and chewing on a stick of licorice while writing and rewriting a sentence over and over until it’s perfect. She discovered her talent for tale-telling accidentally, but literature is in her chokehold. And she’s not letting go until every story is told.
The night Luke Rosen met Scarlett Marks was the only time he’s regretted becoming chief of police. One horrific night of blood and death, and now she’s living under his roof–all because he swore an oath to serve and protect. Scarlett is stubborn and infuriating. She has no respect for the order in his structured life, and she never does anything she’s told. Worse, she doesn’t seem to care that the information she has on a motorcycle gang means she might end up dead. But her unwavering strength, her courage and tenacity and beauty, makes it impossible for him to abandon her. If Luke is going to keep her safe, he’ll have to make the hardest decision of his life. He can either honor his values as a cop, knowing Scarlett is unlikely to survive . . . or he can break all the rules and protect the woman who’s invaded his home and his heart.
“If you’re not going to get out of the way, I’ll just go around.” I spun on my shoes, whirling the opposite direction, but when I went to take a step and carry my basket away, I suddenly found its weight missing from my arm. He’d stolen it from me before I’d had the chance to clutch it tight.
Then the world was spinning. The floors, the ceiling, everything flipped topsy-turvy.
I’d fainted.
No, that wasn’t right.
I was being carried. Hauled. That had been Luke’s threat and damn it, I’d underestimated him. The chief had made good on his word.
His shoulder dug into my belly as he walked. I lifted my face, pushing the hair out of my eyes. My basket of food sat exactly where I’d been standing. My chicken and rolls and cookies and chocolate milk. The items grew smaller with every one of Luke’s strides.
“Put me down.”
He kept walking.
“Put me down!” I shouted.
Still, he kept walking.
I lifted a hand and raised it above my head. My hair kept falling in front of my face, obscuring my vision, but that didn’t stop me from using every ounce of strength I had left. I brought my fist down on Luke’s lower back. Except my aim was shit so I didn’t hit his back. No, my fist bounced off his firm, perfect ass.
Luke didn’t so much as break his stride. “I promised Presley I’d keep you safe.”
And without another word, without stopping, he carried me in a fireman’s hold out of the grocery store and into the snow.
I was going back to the daisies, whether I wanted to or not.
Hello, Scarlett. I’m rock bottom.
Noble Prince is the fourth book in the Tin Gypsy series by Devney Perry. This book picks up exactly where Stone Princess ended and yes, it can be read as a standalone, but I would highly discourage that. There is underlying storyline that runs through each book and it’s also how it ties every single character together which just makes the books all the more gripping and enthralling.
Noble Prince is Luke and Scarlett’s story. Luke is the Chief of Police and Scarlett is the twin sister of Presley. If you read Stone Princess, then you’ll know Luke took Scarlett from Presley’s house and has been keeping her under his protection til he feels it is safe for her to be out on her own. However, no-one knows that Scarlett is under Luke’s protection. Everyone thinks he sent her on way and is keeping an eye out for her in other ways.
Noble Prince is much a slower paced story than the previous books. But it has to be. Scarlett has a danger past and is afraid to trust anyone. Luke has to keep looking over his shoulder and be more vigilant than ever before to keep Scarlett safe and hidden.
I love how this story unfolds and plays out between Luke and Scarlett. They are both attracted to one another but are cautious around one another for their own reasons. Watching not only the chemistry build between them, but the trust and companionships just made it all the more real and authentic. Scarlett really came into her own in this book and seeing Luke become stronger not only in who he is, but his job, added another layer to these characters
Devney does a phenomenal job of blending the romance with the suspense in this story. Neither overshadowed the other, but played key parts throughout the story. Each part of the story blended and flowed perfectly into one another, making the story seamless and fly by quicker than I anticipated. It may be a slow-burn story but it is a quick read because of well it is written.
I cannot wait for the next book, Fallen Jester. Devney has set this one up perfectly!
