I was supposed to be on my honeymoon.

Instead, I cashed that shit in before he could and I got airline tickets and a hotel for down the line.

He left me at the altar, least I can get is a trip.

“I appreciate that, I really do, but I’m already freaking behind because of him.” I release a groan that almost sounds like a cry. “I’m never going to have kids now and I can forget my career goals!I need to find a new job. My life list requires that I don’t have a lot of time to lose.”

I’ve been a workaholic my entire life, I can’t imagine having an extended time off.

“Oh here we fucking go,” Ashton mutters while rolling her eyes.

“What?”

“The life list. Number one, be married and have the perfect life. Number two, stab Gretchen in the eye with her stupid list. Number three, burn the list and remind Gretchen that living isn’t a science.”

“Ash.” Catherine tries to mollify her. “You and I think the list is…extreme, but Gretchen likes it.”

“Yes. I do. I need lists to keep things in order. Besides, my mother always said a dream isn’t a plan until it’s written down.”

There’s nothing wrong with keeping things in order. I feel like having a life list has ensured that most of my plans, though not all, have worked out the way they should.

Sure, all the things that I believed I could check off on my list have now gone to shit, but at one point, they almost came true.

“Oh God!” I say with tears in my eyes.

“What?” Catherine rushes over. “Are you okay?”

I look at my best friend and shake my head. “He ruined everything! My entire life list is now gone! None of it is even possible. There’s no way I’ll even have kid number one by the time number two was due!”

I had a great job, that’s gone. I was getting married, that’s not happening. I was in my dream condo, which I can’t afford to keep now even if I did pull the sale. Everything all because of stupid Harold.

“Then it’s time for a new list.” Cat takes my hand. “Life is about adapting and now it’s time to do that.”

“I hate him.”

“As you should,” she agrees.

Ashton sighs. “Body parts in a box anyone?”

I let out a giggle and wipe the tears. I have the best friends. Catherine cancelled her trip back to California to see me through this. Ashton called out of work, and Jackson has…well, offered his services. I know it all feels so bleak right now, but with them on my side, I’ll be okay.

“My offer still stands to break his kneecaps,” Jackson attempts again.

“Now that I may change my mind about.”

Evermore is my first book by Corinne Michaels. Yea, yea – I know, I am missing out on some great books!!! I truly get that after reading this one.

Evermore is novella in the 1,001 Dark Nights series that showcases different authors series and allows for newbies to discover the series and allows existing fans to fall in love all over again.

Benjamin and Gretchen whom I could tell have the quite the history. Their story has the perfect balance of emotions from sweet to testy to sexy. LOL I enjoyed how these two were pushed and tested to see how strong their connection really is.

Corinne does an amazing job of giving us some depth to this story and these characters that we normally don’t get in a novella because they are so short but she does an amazing job of it. It also shows her strength as a writer and how she was able to make an “instalove” seem so much more with her writing.

I absolutely loved these two characters. I also really liked seeing the other characters pop in, which made me want to read about their stories in this series. I am truly intrigued by them all and hope that I get the chance down the line to read those books.

Evermore is a perfect novella to read for both new and existing fans of Corinne’s.

“What do you mean you’re not coming?” I scream into the receiver at my what-should-be husband.

“I can’t marry you,” Harold tells me.

My eyes fill with angry tears. “You decided this now?” I shriek.

It’s my wedding day.

Well, it was supposed to be. Harold—which is the worst name in existence when you’re in the throes of passion—apparently has decided it won’t be.

An hour late, I might add. I’m here, at the church, in my nine-thousand-dollar wedding dress that I saved for. Without a groom.

I’m going to kill him.

My voice drops eerily soft. “Whatever the hell the issue is, we can deal with it tomorrow, Harold. You can’t do this to me. You get your ass to this church and you marry me.”

He sighs. “I can’t do it. I can’t, Gretchen. I had an epiphany last night.”

An epiphany? How rich. “Was it that you’re a dickhead who was going to destroy the woman who stood by you the last seven-fucking-years?”

“I’m saving you.”

Now I’ve heard it all. “Saving me, my ass!” I scream. “You will not do this to me. You won’t make me a jilted bride! I won’t let you.” My two best friends, Catherine and Ashton, share a look as they stand in their rose gold colored bridesmaids dresses.

Harold goes silent and then I hear someone in the back. “It’s for the better. We never should’ve done this. You’re my associate at the firm and if we do this, it will destroy both of our careers.”

A tear falls down. I’m so angry. I’m so betrayed by him. Seven years we’ve been sneaking around. I was his “Secret Slut” as I called myself. At first it was exciting. The sneaking around, late-night office romps, the little touches we’d share knowing that later we wouldn’t have to slow down.

I’m so completely screwed.

The thought rattles around in my head, and I try to shove it away. Smother it. Silence it. Because that really isn’t the kind of thought a guy wants screaming at him while his tongue is in a woman’s mouth. Or when her hot, little body is writhing against him. Or when his cock is harder than he thought possible and all he can think about is sliding his hands up her thighs and under her skirt, then ripping off her panties and letting her ride him until they both see stars.

But, dammit, the thought looms: Screwed. Totally, completely, one-hundred-percent screwed.

Because this woman is off-limits to me. Big time. No excuses. Hands-off territory.

Sooooo……if you are like me and did not read the first two books in this series (don’t ask me how that is possible) – don’t worry – this can be read as a standalone!!

I won’t say anything about the story because you pretty much get the gist from the blurb. However, I will let you know what I felt while reading this book.

First off, had I not seen this was a part of series, I would not have known. There are obviously secondary characters, so that would have been my only clue that there could be possible other books, but this story read extremely well as a standalone.

Sexy Little Sinner is a fast paced and short romance with a dash of suspense added in to keep the book from being all romance. If you have ever wanted to give J. Kenner’s books a try, this is definitely one I would recommend to see what the excitement is all about.

J. Kenner delivers a packed story in small little package without hurting any of the details in the process. You can see where she could have easily expand upon things if she wanted, but what she did write was perfect to give the readers the notion of what was going on.

Now I must go back and read the other two because I feel like a failure fan for somehow not reading them earlier and also because I really need to see how the other characters came to be.

“Uncle Aidric!” Taite bounces up, giddy in her long sweater and flying hair, her grin wider than any Ollie has ever seen on her.

I had read Bitch Slap previously, but chose to read this due to the promise of more added in. I was pleasantly surprised with how well Kenner fleshed the details out and added the perfect amount of new information to this novella the more entertaining read.

This novella is told completely from Pierece’s POV. As much as I enjoyed this book and felt like he was a strong alpha male, you could definitely tell there is a feminine touch to his POV – he sometimes came across too soft or emotional where I don’t think an alpha male would. But it doesn’t hurt the story too much.

I enjoyed reading how this all played out and with the added editions, this story flowed much better and felt more complete. I felt a better connection between the two characters, even with the extremely short timeframe. I did struggle to see the difference between lust and love, Kenner pulls off the heat and electricity with ease.

Overall, it’s a quick and hot read – definitely one to fulfill fantasies of many.

If I was going to be honest with myself, I was discounting sex with the guy because of Henry Goddamn Lexington.
I desperately tried to shake him off. If I gave James a chance, something could develop between us and I wouldn’t give a rat’s ass that I weighed twice as much as he did. He obviously couldn’t care less, if the way he kept running his eyes over me when he thought I wasn’t looking was anything to go by.
“I was concentrating on my career for a while,” I finally replied. “But I need to start prioritizing my personal life too.”
“I get it.” He nodded. “After my divorce I realized how little time I’d prioritized my personal life. It was why my ex left me. I knew then I had to make some changes.”
“So … you didn’t want to get divorced?” I asked tentatively.
James shrugged. “I know it’s for the best now. But at the time, I was pretty wrecked by it.”
“Haven’t you ever considered trying a reconciliation with your ex?”
He frowned at me and I flushed, realizing what a stupid thing it was to say on a date. “Well … she started dating pretty quickly.”
“So she’s seeing someone.”
“No. They broke up a few months ago.”
“Maybe you should talk to her.”
“Okay, wait.” He held up a hand. “Are you counseling me to get back together with my ex on our first date?”
“It does sound like it,” a deep, familiar voice said from behind me.
I tensed.
No. Way.
James looked beyond my shoulder and not wanting to but drawn to, I half turned in the booth to find Henry sitting in the one directly behind me.
Our faces were so close it took me a second to recognize the anger burning in the back of his blue eyes. It was still there even as he flashed me a cocky grin and stood. “Mind if I join you?” he said, and sat down beside me, forcing me along the booth.
This was not happening!
How was this happening?
He was supposed to be in Panama or Seattle or something!
“Henry Lexington,” he held out his hand to James who shook it in bemusement. “A friend of Nadia’s.”
“Nice to meet you.”
“You too. Although to be honest, I’m surprised to meet you.” I could feel him looking at me but I stared straight ahead at James. I was beyond tense, bracing myself for what Henry was about to say or do. “I was under the impression Nadia was off the market.”
My jaw almost hit the table.
He did not just say that.
James looked between Henry and me. The smart man cottoned on extremely quickly. “Look, I don’t want to get in the middle of something.” He slid out of the booth and pulled out his wallet but Henry stopped him.
“Let me pay for your lunch. Compensation for a colossal waste of your time.”
The anger slipped out in his words and James paused. He looked at me. “Nadia, are you okay with this guy?”
I gave him a weak smile, grateful that he’d asked. “I’m sorry, James. Henry and I have a little unfinished business. I didn’t mean for you to get caught in the middle.”
“As long as you’re okay?”
I nodded and he pulled out money from his wallet and threw it on the table, despite Henry’s offer. “It was nice to meet you anyway.”
“You’re a gentleman,” I said as he walked away. And he was.
Why did I have to be attracted to the asshat beside me and not the one who was walking away?
I didn’t even have to look at Henry to be overwhelmed by him. He was so much bigger than me in the booth, his heat and anger pulsing as he pressed his knee against mine.
“Look at me,” he seethed.
Not wanting to be a coward, I finally did and winced at the awful look on his face. “Henry—”
“You can either play this out in public—and I can’t promise it won’t get loud—or you can get that sexy-as-fuck ass of yours out of this booth and into my car. Your choice.”
“That’s not much of a choice,” I snapped.
“Nadia …” he warned between gritted teeth.
With an exaggerated, exasperated sigh, I grabbed my purse and nudged him with my knee. He got out and despite his anger, he held out his hand, helping me up out of the booth. As soon as I was on my feet, his fingers curled tight around mine.
There was no hope of escape.

It’s been awhile since I have read Hero, but it did not take any time for the details of that book to come back to me. However, you did not read to Hero to understand any of the characters in this book. This can be easily read as a standalone.

If you read the blurb, you pretty much know what to expect in this book. So anything else I say, pretty much gives away the juicy details that you should read on your own. Samantha is always able to draw you into the story and feel what the characters are feeling and I love that so much. And this book is no different.

Villain is an enemies to lovers romance but this time it’s the guy chasing the girl. Nadia has a lot of trust issues and refuses to allow Henry to be the next man to undermine her. But Henry is determined to win her over and become more than just bed buddies. Nadia is one hell of a strong heroine and I love her tenacity to stay strong and true to herself and not giving in so easily.

Villain is definitely full of drama and at times felt it might become a bit cliché, but Samantha stays true to her form and delivered a great angsty romance with some humor added in and amazing characters. It’s definitely fast paced but a very fulfilling read.

Broderick and Lilith have been battling each other over email for months. He’s trying to buy out the building that has been home to Lilith since she was a teenager. She’s determined to stop him from destroying the memories and building of the one woman who always stood by Lilith.

However, when Brody and Lily meet face to face, things get even more heated between the two. It’s the initial meeting that really throws things off-kilter and has them both thinking differently; Lilith isn’t sure what to expect from Brody and Brody becomes even more determined to not only get the building, but the girl too.

Hunt Me Down definitely takes on the theme of Little Red Riding Hood and Amy does a great job playing into that. It’s the perfect pairing that adds some hotness to this story. Brody and Lily were fun to read about it and I enjoyed their game of chase.

Every now and then, Sam would shoot me a sympathetic look, knowing that I had no idea what they were talking about, but in truth, their company was a welcome break. Between what the woman in the shop had said and the lady on the plane’s insinuation, my mind was going a mile a minute and I was beginning to look at Sam in a way I definitely shouldn’t be.

“What?” I asked, confused.

“Don’t you hear that vibrating noise? I think it’s your phone.”

I listened hard and then heard the low, gentle hum he was talking about.

“Yep, probably you-know-who again.” I sighed, but fished the phone from my tiny handbag all the same on the off chance it was a family member with an emergency.

It wasn’t Trevor, though. He had called—I had seven new missed messages from him since I’d left for the airport, but I also had three missed calls from my friend Deanna. I devoured this book in one reading – it’s a very fast paced read and extremely entertaining. It’s a best friends to lovers romance without all the drama and drawn out angst you get in other books like this. It was a sweet read and a perfect addition to the 1,001 Dark Nights series.

Kendall played this story out perfectly and left me loving both Maggie and Sawyer not only separately but even more so together as a couple.

And this book is perfect for this time of year – it’s not a holiday read, but with background in the snowy mountains of Colorado and everything happening around the holidays, it helps get you in the mood.
