He was
an artist. She was his muse.
To everyone in town, Abel Adams was the devil’s spawn, a boy who never should
have been born. A monster. To twelve year-old Evie Hart, he was just a boy with golden hair, soft t-shirts
and a camera. A boy who loved taking her picture and sneaking her chocolates
before dinner. A boy who made her feel special.Despite her family’s warnings, she loved him in secret for six years. They met
in empty classrooms and kissed in darkened church closets. Until they couldn’t.Until the time came to choose between love and family, and Evie chose Abel.Because their love was worth the risk. Their love was the stuff of legend. But the thing about legends is that they are cautionary tales. They are made of

mistakes come in the form of lights, camera, sex.

2.5 Stars
It’s rare, if not possibly a first, that we’ve posted a review where the rating wasn’t 3 stars or higher.  But I chose to share my review because while I find myself warring between a 2 or 3 star review, I still want fellow readers to see where I struggled to enjoy this book where others loved it. And even though this book didn’t wow me, I want others to still give this book a read.

I requested to review this book because I not only saw all the raving about it, but I also read great reviews about this author in particular. Gods and Monsters is the first book I have read from Saffron and to be honest, for all the amazing reviews about her, I was let down with this book.

I am right down the middle for this book. And because I had such high hopes, this book just deflated even more for me. I am definitely in the minority on this one and I am fine with that. This is just my opinion and how I was left feeling after reading this book. A three star rating in my opinion is still a decent book to read. But I will be honest, I struggled rating this one – so I settled for an overall rating of 2.5 stars.

The first part of this book started off brilliantly and I could see why people rated this book so high. Hell, after the first part, I was rating this book a 5 star read. I loved the story line, loved the characters and how everything was coming together.

The second part totally killed the vibes I was feeling in the first half and left me wanting more. No, more isn’t the right word. It left me a bit dry despite all the damn sex going on. I found myself stopping a lot while reading the second half and truly not giving a shit how this ended, I really didn’t. However, I pushed forward and did finish the book.

While I did not care for how the story played itself out, that’s not the reason for my rating. I won’t rate a book because I didn’t like that the author went a different route than what I wanted. My rating is because the book lost it’s mojo and excitement for me. I no longer felt vested in the characters and no longer cared what happened to them. And for me that just took the book from 5 stars to somewhere between 2 and 3 stars.

Overall, I did enjoy this author’s writing style and will give her other books a look. This book wasn’t my fave but I’d still urge anyone to give it a go.  Many others enjoyed this book,I sadly wasn’t one if them.  I am hoping that Sky and Duke are given their own book and that I will read.

“So exquisitely titillating, full of hope and second chances, and so honest, this is Rachel Blaufeld’s best and swooniest romance yet! I LOVED it!”

– Katy Evans, New York Times Bestselling Author

Heart Stronger, an all-new emotional romance from Rachel Blaufeld is available now!

HeartStronger Full

“Sometimes, I feel like I’m watching a movie . . . that it’s not really me, Claire Richards, getting this second chance at life.”

“Open your eyes, it’s you, and I’m damn glad it’s with me.” ~ Aiken

Single mom and college professor Claire Richards only wanted a few hours of me time to soak in her tub, read a book, and drink wine.

But tragedy struck, and Claire found herself with a lot more me time than she bargained for.

Three years later, Claire is still mourning her losses when Aiken Fordham—who looks young enough to be one of her college students—moves in next door.

Forcing Claire to face her fears, Aiken almost forgets his reason for moving to Small Town, Pennsylvania. Falling for the sexy, smart, and strong professor next door was never in the plan.

But now it is . . . until their future intersects with their pasts.

Excerpt

The downpour stopped just as I did, soaked in rain and sweat. Rolling my neck, I took in my house. It was cute. Too cute for a single dude, but it was all fixed up, and I wasn’t in the mood for a renovation project.

I bent over to stretch, touching my toes, and before I could stand up, Smitty was at my feet, tail wagging, tongue lolling, begging to be petted.

“Smitty!” Claire came running out her front door, dark hair tied up in a messy bun, wearing tight black pants and a fitted green blouse. No shoes. She stopped in front of me, and I noticed her pink toes and tanned feet.

“Smitty, bad boy! You can’t leave the house.” She grabbed his collar and tugged him to her side.

“S’okay.” Wetness seeped into my eyes, and I swatted it away, making the burn worse. Squinting and blinking, I remained focused on the woman in front of me, and all woman she was. There wasn’t one girlish thing about my neighbor, and no—before you think it—I didn’t have mommy issues.

I had lean-muscular-legs and pouty-lips issues, both of which Claire had in earnest. Not to mention, I had a separate thing for independence after growing up around all these farming wives, who basically did all the heavy lifting for none of the credit. Then there was my dad, unable to move on, the epitome of lost.

“Don’t say that. He can’t be running out of the house.” Her breath was short at this point; she was almost panting. “He’s all I have.” It was a whisper of a sentence, but I heard it. Fuck it, I felt it. I got pain. Hated anyone else having to experience it.

She was eaten up with pain, but kept her head up—I could tell. I wanted to crack her veneers, let the pain ooze out, and see her smile in earnest.

Deep shit for a young guy, but I’d grown up fast. Like in the last forty-eight hours.

“I put my hand out to feel if it was still raining, and he bolted as soon as he saw you,” she continued to explain.

“Like I said, I’m cool with Smitty, but I get it. He can’t be escaping.”

“Thanks for understanding.” She stood, prim and proper, her gaze heavy on the concrete, clearly avoiding any direct eye contact.

“You okay, Claire? I’m sorry about last night.”

“I’m fine.” She turned back toward her house.

“Claire, listen, we got off to a bad start. Can we start over? Aiken Fordham, nice to meet you.” I held my hand out, flexing my bicep, waiting for her to return the favor.

“Claire Richards.” She took my hand, her smaller, dainty, and way smoother hand slipping into mine.

“Ugh. What do you want, Aiken? Look at you, shirtless, dripping from running in the rain.” Her hand whipped out of mine and began whisking up and down in the air, motioning at my very naked torso. “What could you possibly want from me? If you need an egg or a stick of butter, pop next door. Otherwise, let me be. I need to get out of here and beg Mary to give me a class full of students, probably not much older than you.” She alternated between eyeing me and her disobedient dog.

“You’re a beautiful woman, Claire,” I called, running up behind her. “And I’m a warm-blooded man, who’ll probably never have a need for a stick of butter. I’m a big boy. I know how to find a grocery store. All by myself too.”

She flung open her door and motioned Smitty inside. He stood at the screen door, staring us down with sad doggie eyes.

“Is there something wrong with getting to know my neighbor? I don’t know anyone here. Maybe you could be neighborly? Or are you so closed off you can’t do that? Because if so, that’s a damn shame,” I said through gritted teeth. Admittedly, I was more frustrated than I should have been. I was a man who desperately wanted the broken woman in front of me.

Anyone who has been following my reviews over the year, knows that I love Rachel and her work. She’s always stood out to me with her unique characters and amazing story lines.

Heart Stronger is an emotional romance about a divorced professor, Claire and her new next door neighbor, Aiken. Many have been calling this a second chance romance and honestly, I personally do not see it as that. For me, a second chance romance is when the main characters are finding a second chance to be together again when it didn’t work out before and that’s not the case here. These two do not know each other til they become neighbors.

Claire not only had to survive through a divorce, but while she was coming to grips on that, she loses her daughter in a horrific incident. Since then, she has buried herself in her work and hasn’t truly lived her life since the day her daughter died. Aiken moves to the are in hopes of finding his mother, who left him and father. He came looking for closure but what he found was hot neighbor that he just couldn’t walk away from.

Rachel has this way with her writing where I find myself so enraptured by them and cheering them on. Aiken won my heart over immediately. I love that nothing Claire did would deter him from continuing to persue her. He saw more than what she showed everyone. Claire is one tough cookie. She is deadest in her ways and just truly believes because she was selfish one night and lost her daughter, that she no longer deserves any sort of love. I love how everything unfolds along with the mystery behind Aiken’s quest to find his mother.

Rachel delivers another fantastic story with great characters that will stay with us. While this book is a standalone, she does end it with a cliffhanger about Claire’s best friend, Mary. So I will be anxiously awaiting for that book next.

All is lost.

All.
I don’t recognize myself in the mirror anymore.
My thoughts are filled with hatred and dripping with rage.
I’ve lost my soul.
She took it to the depths of Hell with her and haunts me with images of what could have been.
Sixty lives are mine to take.
Sixty lives stand in the way of my vengeance.
Sixty lives plus one more.
Mine.
When the last drop of blood falls — mine will be spilled.
Only one person stands in the way.
She doesn’t realize I’ll kill her too.
I don’t own a heart.
And even if I did — I wouldn’t fall prey to its lies again.
I am Chase Abandonato.
Heir to a legacy of betrayal.
And I will kill them all.
Even if it means pointing the gun at myself.
A life for a life.
A soul for a soul.

Now I lay me down to sleep… I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Blood in. No out.

Excerpt:

BLOOD. BLOOD. BLOOD.
It covered my hands.
It surged through my heart.
It dripped from my fingertips onto the concrete floor.
Trapped.
Broken.
Finished.
Hungry.
Insanity scratched its way into my psyche as I eyed the door and waited. One heartbeat, two heartbeats, three…
It opened.
I fired two rounds, and acrid smoke filled the air.
I thought I knew what love was. I was a fucking idiot. Every single bone in my body shuddered with rage, with the need to rip something apart, someone, anyone —all of them. My friends. My brothers. I brought the war to our house, and they would finish me because of it.
I’d thought I loved her.
Our love had been a lie.
Her betrayal my only truth.
And now?
Now, I finally knew what love was. I’d seen it, smelled it, tasted it.
And lost it.
I’d fucking lost it.
They would pay. They would all pay.
For taking her.
For turning her against me.
For making me believe that blood was everything, only after mine was spilled.

After I finished Enrage, Rachel left me wanting and begging for this book to come out immediately. I needed to know if Chase would ever get his HEA.

My heart hurt for Chase. This man not only lost his wife, Mil, but she betrayed the family. I wasn’t sure how Rachel was going to pull this off because Mil is major player in this series and she’s gone now. And Chase is now out for revenge and not the man we once knew and loved. He is man without a soul and to see the darkness take over his light, it just broke my heart.

Luciana (Luc) steps in when the families need a new lawyer. Only because this job will help her family, she takes it without any research on the families or what she’s about to step into. Luc surprised me – she may be totally clueless to the mafia lifestyle but she is her own person. She is quiet and kind but knows how to hold her own when it comes to these mafia peeps, especially Chase.

Luc finds herself having to stay at Chase’s place because the majority of everything she needs is at his house. So while she is doing what she is hired to do, she also has to deal with Chase and he constant battering of wanting to shoot her every time he sees her. But she never once backs down from him. In her own way, she takes care of him and brings the light slowly back into his life. I don’t want to say much more other than these two together were so much more than I expected.

Eulogy was more than I anticipated and blew my expectations away. Rachel delivers an action-pack and emotional story. And like I have to come to expect, she throws another unexpected twist that has left me going “OMFG!!!”

Another remarkable installment in Rachel’s Eagle Elite series. I truly never want this series to end. Bring on the next book!!!!

Elite by Carrie Aarons…Release Day Blitz & Review

Title: Elite
A Privileged Novel
Author: Carrie Aarons
Genre: New Adult Romance
Release Date: February 18, 2018
Blurb
If you’re in, you’ll never have to ask. If you ask,
you’ll never be in.
Eloise Mason knows what it’s like to live among the privileged. Seeking a
change from the upper crust society of Europe, she flies halfway across the
world for a semester abroad in the one place guaranteed to toss responsibility
out the window and provide some good, old-fashioned fun; college in The United
States.

Except nothing at the picturesque, Ivy-covered university in Vermont appears as
it seems. And after a mysterious invitation arrives on her doorstep, curiosity
wins over the need to turn her back on games meant for the rich and ruthless.

Secret societies, risky tasks, and an inner circle to rival the royals. But it
may just be one American boy who threatens to be the most dangerous endeavor of
all.

Colton Reiter defines the word idolized at Jade Mountain University. In fact,
he practically rules the roost from the three point line of the basketball
court. The college’s star point guard, he is a god and treated as such;
professional scouts at every game, teachers looking the other way when it comes
to grades, and girls falling into his lap at the snap of a finger. He wants for
nothing, or at least that’s what he wants everyone to believe.

But when he meets the sassy girl with the British accent who could care less
about his status, her very existence threatens to unveil the skeletons buried
deep in the back of his closet.

With stakes this high, and hearts on the line, can they turn their backs on
power and popularity before the ivory tower comes crashing down on their heads?

Elite is Eloise’s book from Privileged. You don’t need to read Privileged in order to understand anything in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it’s characters.

Carrie hooked me on her writing with Privileged so it was a no brainer for me to want to read this one. Eloise is visiting states during her spring semester of college (or university to her) because she needs a break from the stressful course she’s been taking the last year or so. Eloise is also visiting the states because she’s always wanted to experience the culture, especially since her best friend, Nora is from the states.

This is a great college romance story that has the right amount of suspense added in. While I did love the problems that were set forth before Eloise and Colton, I wish Carrie would given us a bit more with those areas. I felt they were sort of breezed over and dealt with too quickly, which my reasoning for a 4 star review and not 5 stars.

I loved watching Eloise and Colton’s relationship blossom over time, even though they were both smitten with the other early on. Carrie did a great job of letting this play out naturally and adding in the suspenseful parts well. Everything flowed nicely and moved along at the right pace.

Overall, I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters. Colton and Eloise were mature with how they handled things and their relationship was hot!!

I am looking forward to more stories from other characters within these stories.

Privileged is the first book by Carrie Aarons that I have read. I was pretty excited going into this book and I was definitely not let down in any way.

Nora finds herself being thrown into a new world. A world that is a complete 180 of what she is used to. A world of wealth, privilege and spoiled little shits. A world Nora wants to hide from, but unfortunately can’t.

Asher has set his sites on Nora. He is the golden boy of their school’s academy and is determined to follow in his family’s footsteps. He also has chosen Nora to be his pawn in his game of revenge.

Nora loved when she was lost in the crowd and people kept their distance from her. Now Asher is making her the center of his world and she’s unsure of what to feel or how to act.

“The one thing I know for sure about Asher Frederick is that he is no good. And I also know that if I let him, he could be the one boy who would really be able to ruin me.”

I love how this entire story plays out. Nora and Asher have some great chemistry and I love that it is slow building. Carrie does a great job of moving everything at this perfect pace where it all makes sense. My only gripe and what brought it down from 5 to 4 stars is that I like for my stories to have a little bit more substance, drama, angst, and emotion added in. I felt at times it was lacking and wanted to see a bit more tension thrown in.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. Carrie did a great job of keeping the British dialect very true and honest, giving the story more life and realism to it. I look forward to reading more from her, hopefully more from the secondary characters.

You Will Be Mine by Natasha Madison…Blog Tour & Review

We are so excited to be sharing the release of #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Natasha Preston’s YOU WILL BE MINE. Young Adult and thriller fans won’t want to miss this one–be sure to grab your copy today!

About YOU WILL BE MINE

Love turns deadly in a new, heart-pounding thriller from Natasha Preston, author of the runaway bestsellers The Cellar and The Cabin.

ROSES ARE RED

VIOLETS ARE BLUE

WATCH YOUR BACK

I’M COMING FOR YOU

Lylah and her friends can’t wait to spend a night out together. Partying is the perfect way to let loose from the stress of life and school, and Lylah hopes that hitting the dance floor with Chase, her best friend, will bring them closer together. She’s been crushing on him since they met. If only he thought of her the same way…

The girls are touching up their makeup and the guys are sliding on their coats when the doorbell rings. No one is there. An envelope sits on the doormat. It’s an anonymous note addressed to their friend Sonny. A secret admirer? Maybe. They all laugh it off.

Except Sonny never comes home. And a new note arrives:

I breathe in deep through my nose and out through my mouth—an exercise my therapist taught me when I started to feel like I was going to fall apart. I can slowly feel myself start to relax when the doorbell rings.

Sighing, I get up. My housemates must’ve forgotten their keys or be carrying too many bags to unlock the door.

I glance through the window, but no one is there.

Another doorbell ditch?

My blood runs cold as I open the door.

An envelope is sitting on our mat. The world turns mute as the blood rushes to my ears. Bending down, I scoop up the envelope. It’s addressed to Isaac. And it looks like exactly the one that came for Sonny.

No…

I turn it over and pull out the note. My hands are shaking as I read:

YOUR TURN

“Isaac!” rips from my throat.

“What?” he calls from his room down the hall. My voice is trapped in my throat as I look up and down the street. There are still a few folks leaving flowers, looking at the makeshift memorial in front of our house. Did one of them do this? Did one of them see who left the note? I feel so exposed. Vulnerable.

I draw back inside and shut the door, trembling.

Isaac’s footsteps thud from his bedroom into the foyer. “Lylah, what?” His face falls and his eyes widen as he sees what’s in my hand. “Is that another note?”

Nodding, I hand it to him.

“Jesus,” he whispers. “Who was it addressed to?”

I look up at him, my vision blurring with tears. “You.”

You Will Be Mine is a YA thriller/suspense that revolves around a group of college kids living together.

As you will be able to tell, I am torn on how to write this review. While I did enjoy the book, I wasn’t overly excited with everything going on. And once again, it’s because I struggle with connecting to the characters. The storyline itself is interesting but the lack of character development hurt the story overall for me.

As I said the storyline was interesting; Lylah and her friends start receiving anonymous letters that are addressed to a particular person. When each person starts winding up dead, things start pointing to one person. While I was able to easily figure out who the murderer was, it was still interesting to watch the mystery play out.

Natasha does a good job of throwing in different aspects and people’s reactions to things to keep the “suspects” list open to so many. I have to say that the mannerisms in which the friends die is quite gruesome and that will leave the reader doubting a lot of their suspects.

I do enjoy Natasha’s writing. She always keeps the story itself gripping and entertaining. I may only rate her books 3 stars, but I do enjoy reading them and will continue to do so.

Overall, it was a good read for me. If you enjoy a good mystery and suspense thriller (and don’t hate that you will possibly figure out the killer) this book will be for you. Just don’t expect a lot of depth into the characters.

Excerpt
Dating today isn’t really dating!

It’s hooking up, hanging out, Netflix and chill.

I asked one of the guys I matched with on Bumble about this idea that nobody dates anymore. Sean, 36, said this: “Well, I think at our age we know what we want and when we find it we move quicker than before.”

You can probably guess that Sean moved on faster than I could ask a follow-up question.

Most men look for sex and find love. Truth.

I’m a romance editor and a die-hard romantic through and through, so this cold, loveless world of dating where most people are in it to sleep with you on the first “date” is soul crushing. Yes, mindless sex is fantastic, but when that is all most guys want…

What the fuck happened to romance?

Do not expect to be courted or dated. Expect to be jerked around, lied to, avoided, ghosted, stood up, breadcrumbed, cancelled on… There are, of course, good men out there, but it will take some digging and meeting, and time and patience.

That’s where this book comes in. You want sex? I’ll show you how to find it. You want something more? Well, keep reading…

Go in knowing a few things.

Tinder. Bumble. POF. OkCupid.

Ghosting. Breadcrumbing

Netflix and chill.

“Nobody dates anymore!”

“Romance is dead!”

You thought dating would be fun, easy, and you’d walk around in your cute little outfits like the women do on television. Bah! Not so much, girls. It can be fun. It is fun at times. But it’s also work and involves a lot of man decoding and navigating a landscape filled with unknowns, rejection, confusion…not much has changed since your mom dated, really. It’s just packaged differently is all.

Dating comes in new forms now. Well, the ways that we get to men. One in three people meet online today, so you have to be where the men are—on a dating site and dating apps. Swiping and sore digits will be your new norm.

But that’s just how you initially connect. Nothing matches real-life experience, so you must meet and talk to men, and a lot of men (probably) until you find the one you click with and want to settle with, whatever settling means for you.

Or maybe you’ll meet him on guy number three.

And if it’s hookups you want, you’ll get tips on how to make them work for you. Nothing wrong with casual sex!

This guide will give you that heads-up so you don’t get ambushed like I did. You’ll know what the booby traps are and how to charge ahead regardless. Consider this your counterattack in your plan to survive.

A decisive victory can be yours, but you need to know the rules if you want to beat them (men) at their game.

First off, this book does not apply to me but boy do I wish I had it when I was not married. This is so funny and so true in how the dating world works these days (yes I am that old that I never had to experience online dating lol). When it comes to apps, dating, finding guys, etc this book is not only informative but funny. It is as if Alethea is your best friend telling you what to and what not to do when it comes to dating. It is so honest and raw. If you are or any of your friends are single and dating then this is seriously a must buy. It will make you or them feel like they are not the only ones going though this. In fact, I bought it for my recently divorced friends! I am not going to rate this one because I really cannot apply it to my life so it will be unfair review. However, I will tell you it is not the typical “self help” books we are so use to seeing. It is quite refreshing.

About Alethea Spiridon:
Alethea is a writer and editor (lots of romance books, so many) out of Ontario, Canada. When her marriage fell apart she realized she had to get back out there and figure out how to date again or accept a life of eating from the Dinner For One menu option permanently. The book in your hands (or on your screen) is the result of that research. If it saves one woman (you!) from the landmines out there in the DatingVerse, then she’s done her job. The Coaching Hours by Sara Ney….Blog Tour & Review

THERE ARE NO DOUCHEBAGS IN THIS STORY.

Well, there are, but they’re not who this story is about.

This story is about me—the coach’s daughter.

When I moved to Iowa to live with my dad, the university’s take-no-prisoners wrestling coach, I thought transferring would be easy as pie—living with my father would be temporary, and he’d make sure his douchebag wrestlers left me alone.

Wrong on both counts.

ASSHOLES ALWAYS COME OUT OF THE WOODWORK WHEN THE STAKES ARE HIGH.

A bet is placed, and I’m on the table. After one humiliating night and too much alcohol, I find the last nice guy on campus. And when he offers to rent me his spare bedroom, I go all in. It’s time for the nice guy to finish first.

Midnight chats and spilling my problems turn to lingering touches. Lingering touches turn to more.

And the ultimate good guy has the potential do more damage than any douchebags ever could.

She perks up. “Wait, you’ve never had a back massage?”

“No?”

“Ever?”

“Nope.”

“Well, what the hell? How can I, in good conscience, lie here letting you rub my back when you’ve never had anyone rub yours?” She scoots over, pointing to the mattress. “Lie on your stomach, I’ll do you first.”

I wave my hands in front of me in protest. The last thing I need is her warm hands roaming my body. “No, no, you don’t have to. It’s not a big deal.”

“Are you crazy? Back massages are the best—like, better than an orgasm. You’re first, so lie down.”

“And you call me the bossy one?”

“Quit stalling and get on the bed.”

Obediently, I climb to the middle of my bed in nothing but a pair of gym shorts, legs hanging off the side. Next to me, the mattress dips, Anabelle on her knees, approaching my side.

A finger glides down my spine. “It will be easier for me to do this if I’m sitting on you. Hope that’s okay.”

“Is that the approved method?”

“No, but my arms will get tired if I have to lean over you the whole time.”

“Do whatever then, I don’t care.”

I stiffen when Anabelle swings one leg over my body, straddling my ass. Warm palms at my lower back.

“You’re so tense. Try to relax,” she coos, making it worse. “Tilt your head to the side, that’s it.”

I hear the lotion bottle snap open. Click closed. My roommate’s palms rubbing together, warming it up. “Sorry, I don’t have any actual massage oil. This will have to do.”

When her hands make contact with my back, I almost groan it feels so fucking good. Warm. Smooth. Pressure in all the right places, pushing gently into my muscles.

Slowly.

Slower still, caressing along my shoulders, thumbs and fingers working together to soothe the burning on my right side.

“Doesn’t this feel great?” Her soft voice cuts into the silence. “You’re loosening up. That’s good.”

I feel her leaning as her hands move up and down my spine until they stop, hovering at the base of my neck. Thumbs stroking the skin below my hairline, back and forth.

Kneading.

Her torso dips, hands maneuvering my arms, placing them at my sides. Palms slide up and down my biceps.

For several minutes, she rubs my arms and shoulders. Then she skims down my ribcage unhurriedly, in no rush, making little humming sounds inside her throat.

I know I’m not imagining the feather-light way her hands drift down my spine. I remain still, letting her touch me, basking in it.

Remain still when her lips kiss the tender spot of my shoulder where it meets my neck, nose nuzzling behind my ear, her breasts rubbing against my back and what the fuck was that all about? What does she think she’s doing, trying to drive me insane?

I am sure that I am one of the very few who have not read this series at all. Don’t ask me why, I just never did. And I’ve now read the last one in the series and I have to say, I don’t think I should have started with this one. LOL But let me explain before I have a million trolls bearing down on me.

The Coaching Hours is apparently much sweeter and more subdued than the other books in this series. Don’t get me wrong, there are some pretty major douche canoes in this book, but they are not the main characters and their d-bag ways were a subplot to the whole thing. And for me, that was sort of a letdown since I had been expecting something more angsty.

Anyway, I still did enjoy this book. I found myself laughing a lot and enjoying the banter and connections with Elliot and Anabelle. Sara wrote very mature characters in Elliot and Anabelle, which added a lot more to this story line. I love that Ana still had her insecurities, but did not whine about shit – she acted like a mature junior college student. That’s one thing I truly enjoyed the most – the maturity and how everything was handled.

I enjoyed Sara’s writing. Aside from reading short novella of hers in an anthology, this is the first book I have read by her and really connected to her writing. It flows easily and seems so natural. I have to point out that I love the chapter titles – those had me dying – so damn creative. There were not any surprises for me and it all played as I expected. I do enjoy books that have more suspense in them, but I enjoyed these characters so I wasn’t overly annoyed by the lack of angst.

Overall, if you are like me and have not read this series, don’t expect a lot of doucheness in this story. If you want that, like I do, we need to start from the beginning and will probably appreciate this book a bit more. I was able to read this without any confusion as to who the other characters were but I am curious as to how they all play a part. It’s a series I find myself wanting to go back to the beginning and reading now.

Follow Me Back by A.L. Jackson…..Review Blitz

Follow Me Back

The next seductive, unforgettable stand-alone romance in the FIGHT FOR ME series from NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author A.L. Jackson . . .

“This is why I read romance.” –Lauren Rowe, USA Today and Internationally bestselling author
My loves – I am so beyond thrilled to finally get to share Kale and Hope’s story with you in FOLLOW ME BACK! Writing this book was a labor of love, and after everything, I think it might be my favorite book I’ve ever written. It’s super sexy and swoony, sad and sweet, and just filled my heart up so full there is no chance I will ever forget the way these characters made me feel. I hope you fall in love with them the same way I did!
Enjoy!
xoxo – Amy
Blurb:
The next seductive, unforgettable stand-alone romance in the FIGHT FOR ME series from NYT & USA Today Bestselling Author A.L. Jackson . . .
Kale Bryant. Arrogant. Gorgeous. Commanding.
This ER doctor is married to his job. His only vice is one-night stands and short-lived flings. He learned a long time ago loving someone isn’t worth the risk.
Harley Hope Masterson. Beautiful. Brave. Sweet.
The owner of a small coffee shop knows what it’s like to struggle. Embroiled in a bitter divorce, she’s threatened with losing everything.
When Kale accepts a new position down the street from Hope’s shop, he begins to question every wall he’s built around his heart.
He wants her in a way he hasn’t wanted anyone.
One touch is fire.
One kiss, and he’s spinning out of control.
But taking her won’t come without consequences.
Hope is in for the fight of her life. One neither of them saw coming.
Now Kale must decide if loving her is worth risking it all.
She will fight with everything she has.
But sometimes even hope needs a hero . . .

“He’s the reason I dream.”

This book was so much more than I anticipated. Amy definitely out did herself with Follow Me Back. I really have no idea where to start this book. Amy put my heart through a gamut of emotions on this one.

I am not going to give you a rundown on this book – you need to go into this book with just the blurb or not even that. And not because the book is so much more powerful not knowing anything, but I think even the tiniest spoiler gives away too much of this book.

“YOU CAN ONLY BE HERE IF YOU LOVE.”

Evan stole my heart in this book – he lit up my world reading this book. He loves with his whole heart and there is nothing better than that.

Hope is one of the strongest and bravest woman ever. She’s a mama bear not to be messed with. You can hurt her all you want, just don’t ever hurt the ones she loves, especially her son.

Kale – oh this man gave me whip lash. And Amy, don’t get mad at me but I truly hated him at one point in this book. I know he had his reasons for what he did, but I just couldn’t forgive him for it. I still have a hard time dealing with his choices but For Hope and Evan, I won’t kick his ass.

“I refuse to come your regret. But I am going to set you free.”

See, these characters became like family to me. I got all tangled up in their lives and want to defend them. Amy wrote an amazing and emotional story. Evan will captivate your heart and Hope will become your best friend that you will do anything for.

There have been many books over the years that make me feel a lot – make me cry, make me laugh and make me smile whole heartedly. And then there are the books that I will carry with me forever because they not only make me feel all that and more but because they leave a lasting impression on my heart. Follow Me Back falls into the second category for me – this book will forever be in my heart.

Bravo Amy.

I had no clue what I was getting myself into when I started reading this book. I have read Siobhan’s previous YA/Contemporary romance books but none of her sci-fi/paranormal reads yet. I am huge sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal fan so I knew that I would enjoy this book based on that aspect but I was not sure what to expect from Siobhan. It’s extremely difficult for authors to write in different genres and be successful in them. However, Siobhan makes it look so easy and natural.

The Lost Savior introduces us into a new world where aliens and other exist that are superior to the human race. Victoria (Tori) is thrown into this new realm of reality when an alien unleashes new things in Tori and she starts seeing and doing things that she has not and should not be able to do as a human.

Then four new students show up at Tori’s school and she has this unexplainable connection to them. This does not bode well for her and her childhood sweetheart. They have been making plans to go off to college and start a life together and these four guys are throwing a wrench into the plans when Tori can’t explain her attachment to them.

Tori has never been one to keep secrets from her friends and boyfriend. But when she herself has a hard time explaining things, she finds herself spilling lies around every corner to those closest to her. But one thing she can’t hide is her attraction to these four brothers and that’s enough to cause more problems than anyone needs.

Siobhan does a great job of writing this story and these characters. I was slightly afraid that I was going to be confused or be overloaded with too much information for this story to be entertaining, but Siobhan makes it all seem so simple and put together. There are a lot of characters in not only in this book, but in the story but not once is anything misconstrued or confusing. It’s hard to explain but you always know everyone’s connection and what role they play.

The Lost Savior is a reverse Harem genre. If you have never read this genre before, you are missing out on ALOT. LOL I came across this genre last year and absolutely love it. In a nutshell, reverse harem is where a female is at the center of interest and 3 or more men are her harem. And no, it’s not smutty like it sounds. Yes, there is that sexual attraction, but there is more to it than that and that’s what makes the genre so entertaining as a whole.

Siobhan does a great job of keeping everything in balance. She adds a perfect blend of sci-fi into this reverse harem and keeps the romance a great pace. I was definitely pulled into this story from the very beginning and my imagination was running at full steam with this book. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book and how everything plays out in the rest of the series.

I feel like my thoughts are all over the place with this one. I am trying not to give too much away but at the same time, give just enough info so that you have an idea of what you’re getting into. So I will just say this:

If you have no problems with sci-fi books, then you definitely want to give this one a try. I highly recommend it.

My Review

Kristy – what are you doing to do my ovaries?!!? You are making them explode with these Malone men and I didn’t even read the first book, Cuffed – but I will be now.

Shit almighty, where do I start with this. Kristy really knows how to make stories feel real and endearing. Did I agree with every choice the characters make (past and present), no, but they were so realistic it made me feel so much apart of their story.

Dylan is songwriter and is currently stuck writing songs for her now ex because of her contract. She needs to get away from the asshole and his never ending assholery (totally just made that word up). Dylan moves in with her brother’s best friend in hopes the new found peace and distraction helps her move forward. And it does, just in ways she never expected.

Grady not only wear his scars physically, but he carries them with him constantly, trying to move past them. However, he is extremely selfless and always willing to help out wherever he can. He always put on a good front for everyone, but deep inside, he was truly afraid to live life fully.

Kristy is a master at writing flawless stories and deep characters. The words come alive with her writing and you can’t help but be sucked into the story. Kristy gives us the perfect blend of romance with a lot of heat!!!

Stud by Kelly Siskind…Release Day Blitz & Review

Title: Stud
Author: Kelly Siskind
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: January 31, 2018

A down-to-earth carpenter. A Prada loving personal shopper.

A Habitat for Humanity project that erects more than walls…

The word “nail” has so many meanings:

Ainsley Hall’s manicured nails belong in the Museum of Modern Art.
The fashionista hammers nails at Habitat for Humanity.
She desperately wants to nail Owen Phillips.

Unfortunately, she mistakenly thinks he’s gay.

Owen’s never-ending divorce has taken a turn from messy to downright vindictive. Yearning for the simpler things in life, like working with his hands, he joins a Habitat build. Turns out he also wants to work over Ainsley Hall…but the confusing bombshell flirts blatantly with other men.

When Ainsley discovers Owen’s true sexuality, their mutual attraction ignites, but he hasn’t shared the extent of his divorce drama. If he can’t disprove his ex’s false allegations, it will take more than hammers and nails (and nailing studs) to keep their walls from caving in.

Her gaze dipped down my body, slow and languid, soaking me in. Something in me twitched to life, like a phantom limb reminding me hot blood once pumped through my veins. All my veins. My groin got heavy, heat flushing my thighs. Because she looked at me.I let that notion marinate and did my best to keep my brain on target. “If you plan on volunteering, show up at the construction site at 8:30 a.m. sharp. Nick will take you through the paces.”

“Will you be here?”

“Possibly.”

“Are you here every day?”

“Some.”

“Do you often answer questions with one word?”

“Depends.”

She tipped her head, those stunning eyes intent upon me. Suddenly, heading home for beers and pizza didn’t sound as appealing. I dug my boots deeper into the earth.

She swiped her tongue across her full bottom lip. “All right, tough guy. I’ll be here next week, volunteer ready, where you may or may not be, depending on if you do or do not decide to show up.”

Every word dripped with flirtatiousness, but I stayed quiet. The way I’d all but grunted at her so far, probably better to keep my mouth shut.

So we stood there—her waiting on me to speak, a skateboarder barreling down the road at our left. Me unsure why she was affecting me.

I missed being with a woman. Missed the slide of soft skin and wet mouths, and locking my girl in my arms for the night. But I’d sworn I’d do it right this time. Not rush in. Make sure I dated someone with depth and interests outside of making bank. Everything about this spitfire girl read narcissistic.

When our silence slipped into awkward, she fluttered her fingers in my face. “It’s been…interesting.”

I offered her a curt nod.

Chuckling to herself, she spun around, but her right heel wedged into the loose dirt. Those damn shoes were lethal. She sank an inch and teetered, but seemed to catch herself. Then her massive purse fell. The thick strap landed on her forearm, tipping the balance. She shot out her hand, struggling to stay upright.

I lunged for her, clasping her trim waist to hold her steady. And close. Too close. Not near enough for her to feel how I was thickening behind my zipper, but the air swelled. It dilated with feminine scents. Something sweet. Nice.
She smelled like chocolate.

My hands spanned her waist from behind, her curves above and below all woman. Hour glass, like a modern-day Marilyn Monroe. Jean Harlow. Mae West. Over the years, I’d watched every classic movie there was, wishing I could slip to a time when men danced and women sang and loyalty and love were valued over getting ahead. An old soul, my nana always said. Or a romantic. Or just plain trouble.

Now I had my hands on a dangerous beauty.

Kelly became one of those go-to and auto-buy authors after I read her Over the Top series in 2016. And she just keeps the excitement alive in her writing with Stud.

Kelly has this witty humor in her writing that keeps it from becoming too obnoxious and over the top. Ainsley and Owen have some of the best chemistry between two characters. I love how the story pans out and things come to fruition. I found myself laughing out loud at certain moments because I was caught up in the book – the book felt alive to me.

I won’t give any details of the book because, as with most books, it’s just better to go in blind only knowing that you are going to fall in love with the characters and their story. Speaking of characters, the secondary characters in this book were just as amazing. I love how Kelly prepares you for the next book without taking away from this one. Everything just flows right.

Ainsley and Owen will win you over from start to finish. Your heart will break for Owen because of his past and difficult divorce and you will find yourself connecting to Ainsley because of her previous relationship woes. It’s impossible to not relate and feel for these two. The banter between one another is perfect and their story is amazing.

Kelly has written another sweet and hilarious romance that I could not get enough of. Bring on the next book!!

A small-town girl at heart, Kelly moved from the city to open a cheese shop with her husband in northern Ontario. When she’s not neck deep in cheese or out hiking, you can find her, notepad in hand, scribbling down one of the many plot bunnies bouncing around in her head. She laughs at her own jokes and has been known to eat her feelings—gummy bears heal all. She’s also an incurable romantic, devouring romance novels into the wee hours of the morning.
