Monica Murphy – you are killing me here!! KILLING ME!!! But I freaking love you for it. Sort of. LOL Gah!
I am so damn stressed out right now after reading this. Yes, this book does end in a cliffhanger and it’s a cliffhanger of epic proportions. SO, if you don’t like cliffies, don’t read this til the next book comes out.
This book was amazing, even with the cliffhanger. I am one who doesn’t get real upset when books end like this. I do hate having to wait, but part of that excitement is the wait to see what happens next.
We met Amanda and Jordan (Tuttle) in Just Friends. You don’t need to read that book to really understand their story. BUT, I do recommend reading it to know all about the other characters in this book.
Amanda is a very strong young woman. She’s already had her trust betrayed by two people she trusted implicitly. And that’s only made her stronger in the end. But she loves pleasing people and sometimes has a problem saying no and possibly letting friends down. And people take advantage of her sweetness at times.
Jordan aka Tuttle, is the schools quarterback and has the reputation of being a ladies man. He doesn’t do relationships and has never been with one girl more than one time. He’s extremely smart so he’s not the typical jock stereotype. But he keeps himself very closed to everyone. He refuses to give people more than what’s on the surface.
So when he starts approaching Amanda, her warning bells go off and she’s very smart in trusting in her instincts. These two go back and forth a lot, with everything. Tuttle is very persistent in his pursuit of Amanda. But Amanda isn’t one to easily hand out her trust to anyone. And when Tuttle isn’t willing to open to anyone, things become very conflicted for these two.
I loved how Monica has written this book. There is so much going and so much more to these two characters. I can see why Monica had to end this book the way she did. And hell, do I need the next book like yesterday. I need to know what happens next.
Be prepared to fall into this high school world and never want to leave.

Managed by Kristen Callihan…Review Tour
It started off as a battle of wits. Me: the ordinary girl with a big mouth against Him: the sexy bastard with a big…ego.
I thought I’d hit the jackpot when I was upgraded to first class on my flight to London.
That is until HE sat down next to me. Gabriel Scott: handsome as sin, cold as ice. Nothing and no one gets to him. Ever. He’s a legend in his own right, the manager of the biggest rock band in the world, and an arrogant ass who looks down his nose at me.
I thought I’d give him hell for one, long flight. I didn’t expect to like him. I didn’t expect to want him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. Only in a way I didn’t see coming.
If I accept his proposal, I leave myself open to falling for the one man I can’t manage. But I’m tempted to say yes. Because the real man beneath those perfect suits and that cool façade just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart.
Let the battle begin…
AMAZON | iBooks | B&N | KOBO | Paperback
In all this time, I had yet to see Gabriel without a shirt. He hides his body like a pious Victorian, never letting me see anything other than him fully dressed and polished. Now I know why. Had he let me get a glimpse, I might never have been able to form a coherent thought around him.
This man’s chest is a work of art. It’s every fantasy I’ve had about a man’s body made real. I don’t even know how that’s possible, but I’m not about to complain. God, he looks touchable. Olive skin, tight little brownish nipples, a smattering of dark chest hair over the most incredibly honed—
“You’re staring.” His tone is dry.
“Yes, I am.” I drag my eyes up and find his expression bemused.
A thick brow lifts. I try to mimic the look and fail when both of my brows lift as one. His lips twitch in amusement.
He shifts his weight, causing his abs to clench. Good Lord. He’s not some overdeveloped gym worshiper, just solid and strong, that perfect balance between defined musculature and healthy male—
“You’re still staring, Sophie.”
“You think it’s easy looking away from all this splendor?” I ask his belly button, licking my lips when he huffs out a laugh and just a little bit more of his lower abs are revealed, slanting toward the thick bulge of his cock, which is lamentably hidden behind his slacks.
“You’re impossible,” he mutters, though there is humor in his voice. He strolls farther into the room and then practically kills me when he sits in one of the low-slung armchairs. That body, sprawled out on display, those thick, long thighs braced as if to take me in his lap—it’s too much.
I want to straddle him and lick my way from the hollow of his throat to the tip of his cock.
He eyes me as if he knows what I’m thinking, and the air thickens. So many things we left unsaid. I’m remembering his lips now, surprisingly soft, but strong with purpose.
From the way his lids lower, I wonder if he’s remembering things as well. But he doesn’t move. Tension glides over his body and snakes around the room. I feel it in my throat and down my spine. We’re closing up again, retreating.
Slowly, I toe off my shoes and set my gear down, never breaking eye contact. “I was being completely honest,” I tell him. “I see you like this and I want to stare forever.”
He snorts, shaking his head even as he rests his temple on his knuckles. “What do you mean ‘like this’?”
“Undone.”
He tenses. It does lovely things to that chest. I focus on his face, mainly to maintain some semblance of decorum.
“You think this is me undone?” he asks quietly.
“It’s a start.” I reach for my camera bag. “Will you let me photograph you?”
There is safety to be found with the camera between us. A way for both of us to hide until we’re comfortable around each other again.
“You’re serious?”
“You sound surprised.” Holding my camera, I sit in the sofa opposite him. “Don’t tell me no one has asked to take your picture before.”
“They’ve asked. I never saw the point.” He shrugs. “I’m not the story.”
You’re my story. You always were.
“This is just for me,” I say instead. “No one else.”
His shrewd gaze pins me. “Why do you want this?”
So I can have a bit of you forever. “Pictures capture moments in time. I want this one—when you finally let me see a sliver of the man behind the clothes.”
His nostrils flare on an indrawn breath, and he slowly lets it out. When he speaks, his voice is a rasp. “Take the pictures.”
Scottie’s book!!! OMG!! I have been dying to read this book and it was well worth the wait.
Gabriel “Scottie” Scott is the manager for Kill John. We know that is very business savvy and never shows emotion. He is all business. He keeps the guys on the straight and narrow and is their voice of reason.
Sophie is a very quick-witted and strong-minded. She has no problem speaking her mind or being able to hold her own. She’s traveling abroad for a possible new job when she meets intense Gabriel Scott.
I won’t give you any more details about their meeting. Or what happens when they both realize that Sophie will be most likely working with Kill John during their tour. It’s just too damn too witness firsthand.
Sophie and Gabriel will keep you on edge. Their banter and feisty dialogue do so much to add to the tension between. It’s like stoking the fire at each and every turn. It’s amazing how two people can be so alike yet so different.
But do not think it’s all good laughs and witty banter. Gabriel hides some dark secrets and holds a lot back. It explains alto about him. And why no-one has ever been able to break through his shell.
Kristen has a unique way of writing some hilarious scenes mixed with heart-warming gushy stuff. Oh and don’t get me started on the sexy scenes. She will have you needing a smoke after reading those scenes. HOT DAMN!
I am so excited to see which character we read about next!!

Synopsis: “Stryker”
I’m a drifter.
A man born to ride through this world alone.
There used to be a time when I thought I was the rescuing type. I enlisted in the Marines and made it my duty—I was going to save lives.
I was going to be a true American hero.
But God had another plan.
Or maybe Satan did.
For everything I touch finds mortality.
I’m no hero.
I’m nothing.
I’m a veteran biker, a former nomad who survived war only to live in hell.
Now I ride with the Satan’s Knights of Brooklyn and I’m drifting into a different kind of chaos.
The kind that revolves around a pretty girl with intoxicating green eyes.
A girl who has the power to turn me inside out.
A girl who doesn’t need anyone to rescue her because she’s her own savior.
Until she’s not.
But a man plagued by war and the devil inside him can never be her hero.
Gina Spinelli
Strong. Independent. Fierce.
They are the three things I strived to be.
But sometimes being successful can be lonely.
Sometimes a girl just wants to be a girl and have someone take care of her.
Maybe even love her.
Sometimes the strong become vulnerable.
Or worse, the victor becomes the victim.
Sometimes we lose control or in my case it’s stripped from you.
Defeated. Broken. Haunted.
They are the three things I have become.
In my darkest hour I admit defeat.
In my darkest hour I need one person.
I need him.
Stryker.

I have to say that this book was such a pleasant surprise! It was a refreshing read that has one of the main characters I pictured to be much of the American population. Flo is not only a gamer but she is also a beauty in her own right. Oh and then there is that Nash, who you cannot help but swoon over. Nash is a jock but was written so you will immediately love who he is. I adored that Greys wrote such a fun and lovable lead characters.
I also enjoyed the fact that the book did not go anywhere I had thought when I started to read it. I immediately started reading and thought it was the typical story line with the hot jock who falls for the shy girl. It was so much more! I have to also say that Love’s Illusions follows the story of four people which is really enjoyable to read. The characters all blend and connect in such a great way that you will find yourself involved in all stories. It was a great and surprising read.
Heat Wave by Karina Halle…..Release Blitz & Review
They say when life closes one door, another one opens.
This door happens to lead to paradise.
And a man I can never, ever have.
Still grieving the loss of her sister who died two years ago, the last thing Veronica “Ronnie” Locke needed was to lose her job at one of Chicago’s finest restaurants and have to move back in with her parents. So when a window of opportunity opens for her – running a kitchen at a small Hawaiian hotel – she’d be crazy not to take it.
The only problem is, the man running the hotel drives her crazy:
Logan Shephard.
It doesn’t matter that he’s got dark brown eyes, a tall, muscular build that’s sculpted from daily surfing sessions, and a deep Australian accent that makes your toes curl.
What does matter is that he’s a grump.
Kind of an asshole, too.
And gets under Ronnie’s skin like no one else.
But the more time Ronnie spends on the island of Kauai, falling in love with the lush land and its carefree lifestyle, the closer she gets to Logan. And the closer she gets to Logan, the more she realizes she may have pegged him all wrong. Maybe it’s the hot, steamy jungles or the invigorating ocean air, but soon their relationship becomes utterly intoxicating.
There’s just one major catch.
The two of them together would incite a scandal neither Ronnie, nor her family, would ever recover from.
Forbidden, Illicit, off-limits – sometimes the heat is worth surrendering to, even if you get burned.

PROLOGUE
I saw him first.
It shamed me to think it then, it shames me to think it now.
But that’s what the truth does to you sometimes. It shames you because it’s only in the truth that you realize how human you really are. What a raw, devastating thing that is, to embrace your humanity and learn to live with all your sharp points, the hollow places, the cracks and the crevices. To be utterly real. To be terribly flawed.
Those cracks had always been forming inside me, slowly making their way to the surface over the years. In my family, there wasn’t much you could do but try and hold yourself together, to stick glue on your wounds, to paste over the imperfections. But the cracks still grew, until all of us were held together by crumbling cement, just statues waiting to collapse.
That was years and years ago. I was just twenty-two at the time. A baby. I’m still a baby in the grand scheme of things, but there’s something precious about your early twenties, where you think you’re so much older, bigger, than you are, where life is just about to deliver the crushing blows that will knock you off your feet for the rest of your days. The small things become the big things and the big things become the small things and you aren’t quite sure when they made the switch.
But in the end, I saw him first. He was mine, even before he knew it. He was mine in some strange way that I still don’t understand. The only way I can think of to explain it is…
You just know.
There are moments in your life, people in your life, that when they cross your path and meet your eye, you know. Maybe it’s all in the chemistry, certain pheromones that react when they mix together, maybe it’s a smell that triggers a memory, maybe it’s a glimpse at a future you don’t recognize or a hint at the past, a life you’ve lived and forgotten. Whatever it is, you know that moment, that person, is going to shape you for the rest of your life.
That’s what it was like when I saw him. Standing over by the windows and staring out Lake Michigan, like he was wishing he could be anywhere but there.
I wished the same. My mother’s the deputy mayor of Chicago and this was another one of her fundraisers I felt obliged to attend. It was tradition in my family, for my father, for me, for my sister, to show up and wave the flag of support. It didn’t seem to matter that the stuffy politicians that surrounded these events never paid me any attention. And if they did, it was the wrong kind of attention, always the sixty-year-old man leering after the young thing with the nice smile.
Luckily I didn’t smile all that often. My resting bitch face took over whenever I was deep in thought, which was pretty much all the time.
But this guy…I felt a kinship with him. I felt like I knew exactly what he was thinking, feeling, and that it was completely wrapped up in and connected to everything that was going through me.
I don’t know where I found the nerve to go over and talk to him. He seemed so much older, not quite the sixty-year-old politicians I was used to seeing, but maybe in his early-thirties. More than that, there was some kind of aura around him. Sounds stupid, I know. Whatever it was, it was like he belonged in some whole other universe than here, a star on earth, permanently grounded and yearning to be in the sky.
It was usually Juliet’s job to go around and make everyone feel warm and comfortable at these events—hell, in every event—but she wasn’t here yet. And though I could have easily stayed in the shadows, I was pulled to him, like he had a wave of gravity whirling around him.
I remember what I was wearing. Strappy flats because I hated wearing heels, a knee-length cocktail dress in emerald green, sleeveless, high-neck. It made me look older and I wore it because my mother always wanted me to look like a lady.
With a glass of champagne in hand, I made my way over to the windows, my heart racing the closer I got to him. He looked taller up close, well over six feet. His shoulders were broad, like a swimmer’s, and suddenly I had a vision of him diving into the lake. The navy blue suit he was wearing looked well-tailored but he seemed uncomfortable in it, like he couldn’t wait to get rid of it.
I stood beside him for a moment, following his gaze out the window. He seemed lost in his thoughts but out of my peripheral his head tilted slightly and he brought his eyes over to me while I kept staring at that wide expanse of water, stretching out to the horizon.
“Can’t wait to get out of here?” I asked, but though my tone was mild, my delivery was bold. It was as if someone else had taken a hold of my body, forcing me to speak. I slowly turned my head to meet his eyes.
I was taken aback for a second. He was staring at me like he knew me, even though I’d never seen him before. Then again, I was sure I’d been staring at him in the same way. That feeling of knowing. He knew me, I knew him, and who the hell knows how that was possible.
His eyes were brown—are brown—dark with currents of gold and amber, giving them beautiful clarity. Slightly almond shaped. His brows were also dark, arched, adding to the intensity of his gaze. He’s the type of guy whose eyes latch onto you, dig deep, trying to sift through the files of your life, see who you really are.
“How did you know?” he asked, a full-on Australian accent rumbling through his gruff voice. It made my stomach flip, my core smolder. How deed you now, is what it sounded like. Funny how I stopped hearing the accent after time.
I gave a half shrug and looked back to the party. More people had flooded the room, mingling around the appetizers. My mother was in the corner, a crowd of politicians around her. She didn’t see me. She never did.
“Because I think I’d rather be in the middle of Lake Michigan too,” I told him, “then be stuck here with all these people.”
“These people,” he repeated. My focus was drawn to his lips, full, wide, tilting up into a smirk. Beneath them was a strong chin and even sharper jaw, dusted with a five o’clock shadow that seemed permanent, like the man couldn’t get a clean shave even if he tried. “How do you know I’m not one of these people?”
“Because you’re over here and not over there. How come you keep answering my questions with more questions?”
He studied me for a moment. My blood pounded in my head and I felt a giddy kind of thrill at how this was progressing. If anything, I was proud for holding my own with this handsome stranger. He was the first man I ever really felt at ease with.
He cleared his throat, offered me a quick smile before he nodded at the lake, his hands sliding into his pockets. “She almost looks like the ocean, doesn’t she?”
“Not quite the same as Australia, I would imagine.”
“No hiding this accent, is there?” He glanced at me and stuck out his hand, which I shook for a moment, warm palm to warm palm. “I’m Logan Shepard. Australian. And the reason I’m here is because I was invited by a friend of mine. I’m only in town for a few days and he didn’t want to go alone. He’s over there.” He nodded at a tall black man in the corner, listening intently to another man.
“Warren Jones,” he said, as if I should know him. Perhaps I should. He probably thought I was one of them. “He’s local and the key piece to my investment.”
I wasn’t one for business talk—I never had anything to contribute other than lamenting student loans—but I wanted him to keep talking. “What’s your investment?”
“Starting my own hotel,” he said. “In Hawaii. Have you ever been there?”
“Once. When I was eight. I think we were in Honolulu. I remember a city, anyway. Waikiki Beach.”
“This hotel is in Kauai. The Garden Isle. Went there once as a teenager and couldn’t get it out of my mind.”
I didn’t know the right things to say. I wanted to ask more about the hotel, what it means when you have an investor, but I didn’t want to appear dumb. I kept my mouth shut.
“You haven’t introduced yourself,” he said. “Protecting a secret identity?”
I smiled, close-lipped. “Not really. I’m Veronica Locke. American. And I unfortunately I don’t have much else to add to that.”
“Locke?” he repeated, eyes darting to my mother. “Are you the daughter of the deputy mayor, Rose Locke?”
“One of them,” I told him.
He nodded quickly. “I see. No wonder you’d rather be in the middle of the bloody lake. I bet you have to do this stuff all the time.”
“It’s not so bad.” I took a sip of my drink so I didn’t have to say anything more and looked away at the crowd. The bubbles teased my nose, making my eyes water.
I could feel his gaze on me as he spoke. “I’m sure you have plenty more to say about yourself though. Where do you work? Student?”
“Culinary arts,” I told him. “I’m one of those crazy people who dream of being a chef one day.”
He frowned. “Why is that crazy?”
I gave him a look, forgetting that most people have no idea how hard it is. “Because it’s a long road, long hours, and nothing is guaranteed. People think being a chef is easy. They see Gordon Ramsey or Nigella Lawson and think it’s all fame and food and money and they have no idea what it’s really like. I’m not even out of school and already I feel half-beaten.”
He was still frowning. He did that a lot, I would soon learn. “Sounds like life to me.” His eyes dropped to my lips and something intensely carnal came over them, like suddenly I was the food, not the wannabe chef. “Did you want to get a drink somewhere. After this? When you’ve done your daughterly duties?”
I swallowed hard. I didn’t know what a drink meant. Just a drink? A date? Was it sex? I started going through my head, trying to think of reasons why it was a bad idea. My legs were shaved, did my bra and underwear match? Did I have a condom? I had taken the pill this morning, even though my last boyfriend and I had broken up months ago. I hadn’t been with a guy, let alone a man, in a long time.
Don’t flatter yourself, I quickly thought. What makes you think he’d be interested in you that way?
“Yes,” I said when I finally found my voice. “Yes, I would like that.”
A spark flashed in his eyes, lighting them up in such a way that made my toes literally curl. Damn. I was in trouble with this man. “Any way you can get out of your duties sooner?” he asked.
I couldn’t help but smile, raising my brow at his presumptuousness, while simultaneously trying to hide the fact that I was freaking out. I looked around the room and tried to judge how likely it was that someone would notice if I was gone. My mom was still surrounded by a wall of people and no one was paying any attention to us, standing by the windows, already removed.
A sad thought hit me, sliding past before I could really dwell on it: no one even notices when I’m here.
“If we’re quick and sneaky,” I told him.
“Being quick isn’t in my repertoire,” he said, “but I could give it a shot.”
Again. Damn. I wasn’t one to blush but I could feel my cheeks heating up and hoped my skin supressed the flush. He was so much older than me in so many ways, the last thing I wanted was to appear the naïve schoolgirl.
And I didn’t know what to say to that. He was staring at me with those dark eyes, a look so intense yet sparkling with charm and something…wicked.
I’d never find out how wicked they could be.
“Ronnie!” A melodic, ultra-feminine voice sliced through the moment like an unwieldy machete, causing me to flinch, my fingers tightening around the stem of the glass.
Oh no, I thought. Not now.
Logan’s head swiveled toward the sound of the voice, like a hound picking up a scent. I didn’t bother looking over, I kept my focus on him, watching his expression intently. It changed, as I knew it would.
She had walked into the room.
He saw her.
And like it was for so many men, that look of lust I had thought was for me, was now for her.
That’s when I knew it was over. Whatever thing I had felt for him, it didn’t matter anymore, not when she was in the room. Nothing ever mattered as long as she was around.
I might have saw him first.
But he was all hers after that.
Karina has done it again!! And people – this is a standalone novel – all new characters and not attached to any of her other stories. So I am IMPLORING you, if you’ve never (GASP!) read anything by Karina, let it be this book! She will win you over immediately.
I want to say so much about this book but at the same time I don’t because I do not want to ruin any parts of this book. Karina just has a way with her words that makes you fall in love with her characters and her story. So I will just be brief in my explaining – I hope to be brief. LOL
Veronica is starting her life over seven years later after the prologue. We are not only captivated by the story line that ensues but the background that this story is set in. Everything about this book just molds together perfectly. The atmosphere, the characters, the plot – everything works in sync to deliver a beautiful story. A story about getting things right the second time around.
GAH. I want to say so much more. The forbidden element in their romance. AHHHH!! It threatens to destroy EVERYTHING they have together. OMG. Is their love for one another worth it?
I feel in love with each and every word in this book. I cried, laughed and sucked up every single moment in this book. It’s impossible not to. Another fantastic story by the amazing Karina Halle!!!!
Karina Halle is a former travel writer and music journalist and The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling author of The Pact, Racing the Sun, Sins & Needles and over 25 other wild and romantic reads. Adele didn’t wait for further instruction and hurled the plastic nose cover into the air. Spinning, the snout missed Monique’s outstretched hand and continued its path of projection several feet over her head and to the right.
Rudolf’s schnozzle caught the light and sparkling in the sun, made its descent. Monique shifted her weight to grab it. Almost there. She reached up and over feeling the ladder sway and rock beneath her.
“Mommy!”
Quickly seizing her perch with both hands, the sole of her boot slipped sideways on the metal step. Instead of regaining her balance, Monique skidded down one rung, and then another with her left foot and then another and another, until she found herself rappelling backward down the ladder, desperately grappling to hang on to whatever she could and praying for a soft landing.
“Mommy!”
She missed the last step and hit the ground, landing flat on her back.
“Oh no!” Adele scampered to her and laid her soft chubby hands on Monique’s cheeks. Snuggling close, her sweet breath touched her skin. Adele inspected her eyes from an inch away. “Are you hurt bad?”
“I’m okay, baby.” Reaching behind her back, Monique found the rock digging into her spine. She plucked it out of the dirt and flung it.
“You shouldn’t be climbing on top of something you can’t handle.”
Every cell of Monique’s body froze. Her heart paused mid-thump. The familiar drawl of the deep, sexy, voice coming from above propelled her back in time at warp speed to six years ago. But it couldn’t be him. Not in a million years. She wrapped one arm tightly around Adele, and shielding her eyes from the glare with the other, looked up. Shit.
Trace Montgomery towered over her. He folded his arms over his chest making his smooth, muscled biceps bulge under his navy T-shirt. Wearing jeans that fit him as precisely as a fireman carries a hose, and with his swagger apparently still intact, he leaned back on the heel of his boot and tilted his face, rubbing his jaw. His unmistakable green eyes sparkled down at her.
“W-what are you doing here?”
“You’re hardly in a position to be asking questions.” He reached with a powerful hand and lifted her up off the ground, along with Adele.
After removing a twig wedged between her legs and butt cheek, Monique attempted to get her bearings. Her brain stuttered, stopped and skipped over the right words to say. Her libido, however, operated flawlessly. Tingles charged from her neck to her toes and she broke into a sweat. Steadying her gaze on his preposterously handsome face, a result of mixed genetic magic, her heart beat out of her skin. Trace opened his arms for a hug. Before she could think, he wrapped them around her and squeezed, smelling like—well, smelling like Trace, a combination of clean, fresh and help me now, Jesus.

She is her own woman and plans to stay that way. That’s why she had to leave Dominic all those years ago. Hailee kept herself hidden away in a hockey-free bubble, avoiding all aspects of the game and eliminating the possibility of running into him. Her heart missed Dominic, but her brain knew that she couldn’t be what he needed. It was just better this way. She had her own dreams and wasn’t about to give up on them, even if it meant giving him up.
When all things in her life finally start to fall neatly into place, one thing is still missing. Dominic.
Dominic was used to shutting out teams on the ice, but didn’t like being shutout by her. Hailee already had his heart, all she had to do was take down the walls she built, and stop playing games.

Excerpt
“So, did you get to talk to her?” Kris asked, as Dom prepared for morning skate. Dom downed an energy shot, hoping to feel better. His head was pounding from the lack of sleep the night before.
“Dude, do you ever learn?” Kaden punched him in the arm harder than necessary.
“What the hell, dude?” He was not in the mood for this. His interaction with Hailee had him tossing and turning all night long. The alcohol he drank didn’t help much either. “Yeah, I talked to her. I told her I’m done with the games.”
“So, it’s over? No more lunches or nights at The Cat House?” Patrick chimed in.
“Am I really everyone’s entertainment for the morning? We do have practice to get ready for, you know.” His voice was harsh as he snapped at the guys. “Look, I can’t keep doing this. I’m not going to follow her around like a long lost puppy dog. She left for whatever reason that handful of years ago, and she meant for it to stay that way. Hooking up at the wedding was a mistake.”
He didn’t really feel that way; seeing her again was what he needed. The way she left was the mistake. The heartache he felt all over again was the mistake. Maybe it all was a mistake. But he wasn’t a wuss and wasn’t going to start acting like it now.
Pat frowned at him. “So, what? You never found out why she left?”
Dom rolled his eyes. “Actually, I did. She left because she didn’t want to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.”
“Huh?”
“My family is very traditional in their gender roles. My sisters got in her ear about what would be expected of a Mrs. Zanetti.”
“Dude,” Kaden said, looking around at the guys. “He’s not joking. His dad is all like, ‘Cooking is women’s work. Whiskey drinking is men’s work.’ I could dig it.”
“You should tell that idea to Paige, Ty,” Pat said with a smirk.
“Yeah, and get myself moved straight into the spare bedroom.” Tyler walked into the conversation. “So you two did hook up at the wedding?”
“I’m only going to say this one more time. We hooked up. It was fucking amazing. But it’s over. It wasn’t anything more than one night.”
“Do you want it to be more than one night?” Tyler asked. “Because I have to tell you, if you need advice on how to win her over, I have some killer wooing skills.”
“Er, you only got Paige because of the wooing techniques I suggested,” Kris said.
“You? Bullshit, cuz,” Pat said, shoving Kris away. “It was all me.”
“You’re both wrong, ladies,” Tyler said with a smile. “It was all me.” He indicated his crotch area. “Well, me and little me. If you know what I mean.” He winked at them.
“Dude. That’s not something I needed to think about,” Kaden said, turning away to finish getting ready.
“Little is probably the key word right there,” Pat said, laughing.
About Melody Heck Gatto:
Melody was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she lives with her husband, and son. She’s a dog lover and recently losing her two 15yr old girls (dogs) they adopted a new puppy, in addition to a cat. After years of begging for a cat, she finally let her son adopt a kitten (even though she’s allergic!) The cat is definitely a “mama’s boy”. A house just isn’t a home without pets.
The whole family are avid Pittsburgh Penguins fans and like going to hockey games when they get the chance. Having met some of the players has fueled her interest in writing about them and creating wonderful stories.
Melody has loved writing since she was young, in school she never met a creative writing assignment that she didn’t love. She is lucky enough to have a wonderful husband who encourages her to write. When she was laid off from her job of 14 years, he was supportive about letting her stay home and just be a mom. During that time, she discovered hockey-romances and found a renewed love of reading as well as a passion for writing.
She spends her spare time reading hockey romances. At holiday time she really enjoys any romance about Christmas, and Hallmark movies on tv. When it is the hockey off-season, she enjoys swimming and spending her days out in the sun with her family.
Basically if she’s not writing or reading, then she’s doing something that has to do with hockey!

Kristy does it again!! Talk about a sweet read.
Saylor is starting her life over again. She left her fiancé a week before their wedding. It’s been 9 months and she’s struggling through making her cupcake business thrive. But she herself is doing so much better than she was 9 months ago – living the life he wanted and not her. But now she finds herself being invited to his new wedding. But what she doesn’t expect is for her assistant to accidentally put the response card in the mail.
Hayes moved away 10 years ago to chase his dreams. He left without a reason or saying goodbye. Saylor and Hayes were high school sweethearts. His move and lack of any communication devastated her.
When Hayes shows up at her cupcake business, shocked doesn’t begin to describe how Saylor feels. Old memories come firing back and all the emotions she thought she tucked away come crashing upon her. And to add insult to injury, he suggests attending her ex-fiancé’s new wedding with her. Just to make them see she has moved on and is doing better of with him.
Yea – easier said than done. Hayes biggest regret is walking away from Saylor. But Saylor is determined to keep him at bay and just get through the wedding shenanigans. But when things become to obvious to ignore, will Saylor put her trust in Hayes again.
This book was so good. I hated Hayes in the beginning but damn he won me over by the end. And I loved Saylor. She’s not a pushover. She held her ground and held her head high.
Kristy wrote another fantastic story and I can’t wait to see what she brings us next!
New York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy, and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines, and damaged heroes who we love to hate and hate to love.
She’s a mixture of most of her female characters: sassy, intelligent, stubborn, reserved, outgoing, driven, emotional, strong, and wears her heart on her sleeve. All of which she displays daily with her husband and three children where they live in Southern California.
On a whim, K. Bromberg decided to try her hand at this writing thing. Since then she has written The Driven Series (Driven, Fueled, Crashed, Raced, Aced), the standalone Driven Novels (Slow Burn, Sweet Ache, Hard Beat, and Down Shift), and a novella (UnRaveled). She is currently finishing up Sweet Cheeks a standalone novel out November 14th.
Her plans for 2017 include a sports romance duet (2 books: The Player, The Catch) and the Everyday Heroes series (3 books: Cuffed, Combust, and Cockpit). She’s also writing a novella for the 1,001 Dark Night series that will be out in February 2017.
She loves to hear from her readers so make sure you check her out on social media.

Secret Things by Nazarea Andrews is simply amazing. I absolutely love how she takes this book and writes it in such a new and unique way. It was really refreshing to have a new perspective on the lives of characters. Camden, Dimitri and Cari an in such a tangled web of love and secrets that is a non stop, “don’t you dare put down this book” suspenseful read. I could not wait to see what was going to unfold next. Yes, it is a love story about two men who are hiding all sorts of things from not only each other but from their significant others. Yes! They are already involved with other people! This is exactly what I mean when I say it is such a web of lies and secrets. Never a dull moment! Oh did I mention they are really famous and in the eyes of media? I would love to give you a little more detailed information but I will never tell a secret *wink wink.
