AP new - synopsis.jpg

When he left for a twelve-month deployment, she knew it would feel like forever before they saw each other again. She didn’t realize how right she was.

When Lance Corporal Brecken Connolly gets taken as a POW, Camryn hopes for the best but steels herself for the worst. In the end, steel was what she needed to survive when he didn’t. She moves on the only way she knows how—gilding herself in more steel.

Years go by.

She builds a new life.

She leaves the old one behind.

Until one day, she sees the face of a ghost on the news. Brecken seems to have risen from the dead, but she knows she can’t perform the same miracle for herself. While Brecken was held in a torture camp for the past five years, she’s been trapped in her own kind of prison. One she can’t be freed from.

The man she mourned comes back to join the living, but the girl he wanted to spend his life with isn’t the same woman he comes back for. Brecken isn’t the same person either. The past five years have changed them both. While he’s determined to put the pieces back together, she’s resolved to let hers rot where they shattered.

Broken or not, Brecken wants her back. He’ll do anything to achieve that. Even if it means going against the warden of Camryn’s personal prison—her husband.
My head lifted. “There is an explanation.”
“You don’t owe me one.” His head barely shook. “And it doesn’t change the outcome.”
“What outcome?”
Brecken did half a turn, motioning at the house behind me before indicating at me. “You belong to someone else now.”
I couldn’t deny it.
Yet I couldn’t confirm it either.
“It’s okay,” he continued, his throat moving. “I’m happy to have you in my life. In whatever capacity I can. Even if it’s saving my ass every once in a while when I flambé my scrambled eggs.”
I stood from my seat and moved beside him. Regardless of everything else, he was alive. “I’m happy to have you in my life in whatever way too. Even if it’s saving my ass from something else.”
His shoulder touched mine. “I’ll save your ass from whatever you need saving from.”
“Hero complex?” My eyebrow lifted at him.
“Far less noble,” he replied, his eyes dropping behind me. His mouth stretched into a grin. “You’ve got a nice ass. Totally worth saving.”
Elbowing him, I feigned appall, but he saw through the act.
“I better get going. I don’t want to overstay my welcome.” He moved down the steps, holding the handrail as he took them backward. “Let me know what you decide to tell Crew. If you decide to tell him anything.”
My arms folded as I moved to the edge of the porch, watching him lower himself one step at a time. “Things between Crew and I are—”
“Complicated. Yeah. I was listening. I know that.” Brecken stopped when he stepped onto the pathway. “I don’t want to make things more complicated for you, so just let me know how I can do that. Unless you want me to complicate things for you, then by all means, let me know how I can do that as well.” He was joking, the glint in his eyes told that, but he wasn’t entirely. His face told me that.
When I went to reply, all that came out was a sigh.
“Listen, you’re with him. I know you’re his wife.” He was staring at me, still holding onto the handrail. Not able to let go. “If he wants to hear me say that to his face to make him feel better, I will.”
“You know what question Crew will follow up with.”
He nodded once. “If I’ll respect the fact that you’re his wife.”
My silence was a confirmation.
“Well, that’s simple,” he said, his voice sounding like the one I remembered. It didn’t waver. It didn’t rasp. Brecken’s eyes didn’t leave mine as he backed away. “I’d tell him that I have every intention of showing him the same amount of respect he showed me when he moved in on my girl weeks after my fake execution.”

Six Toy by James Crow…Review Tour

Title: Six Toy
Author: James Crow
Genre: Erotic Romance
Cover Designer: RBA Designs | Romantic Book Affairs

Emma,
Moving in with Jonathon Gold was a whole new wonderful life. It felt like I’d been plucked from another dimension and dropped into a carnal nirvana, with endless rabbit holes of exploration just waiting for me to tumble down them. And gladly I tumbled – until I wanted more.
I wanted to be Head Girl, to service clients, especially when The Judge made enquiries for a day with a plaything. I thought I was strong enough. I thought I was on top of this newfound promiscuous game, but I was wrong.
Jonathon Gold had demons in his closet. Thing is, Jonathon’s closet turned out to be real, and if I really wanted to nail my man, really wanted to learn the art of the submissive and face The Judge and his perverted kinks, I’d have to live it first, in that sordid little room, and become Jonathon’s toy for a day without a squeak of complaint.
Then I’d face The Judge.
Giving is receiving, so Jonathon tells me.
I’m pretty sure I can do that.
~~~
Jonathon,
Emma Jane brings bubbly brightness to my world. She’s sexy, gorgeous, naïve and vulnerable, and her enthusiasm for her new life lifts me, really lifts me. I love her, my dirty girl, and I know in my heart it’s a love that will last forever, but right now she’s a rookie, an over-confident rookie.
The best way for rookies to learn is to be thrown in at the deep end, is it not? And it couldn’t get any deeper than The Judge – a man-mountain of depravity.
The last time he visited, he took charge of the closet for a day of filthy debauchery, but the door to that seedy little hole has been locked for almost two years.
Demons await me in that room, and demons either need to be purged or danced with, don’t they?
If Emma wants more, she has to earn it. And earn it she will when I unlock that door.
~~~
Emma Jane must learn the art of the true submissive before she can become Head Girl, but Jonathon has demons to struggle with as he takes her down the steamy path to subservient bliss.

I feel like I need to give this book 6 loves… but we only go up to 5… Sorry James!
This book. Wow. So fucking hot. So amazing. I never thought something so filthy could be written so exquisitely. James Crow gave me everything that I asked for and more. I wanted more back story on Jonathon. I wanted more kink, more filth, more debauchery (and less Mayo) and he more than delivered.
In the sequel to James’ debut novel (Six), Six Toy brings us back into the lives of Jonathon and Emma Jane. Emma has a dream to be the head girl at Jonathan’s pleasure palace. She not only wants to service customers, but she wants to star in her very own scene.
Jonathon’s first love, Heather, has been gone for 2 years. When Emma comes to him with this idea, it reminds him of the worry that swirled around his relationship with Heather when they first started servicing clients together. Jonathon isn’t keen on the idea of Emma fucking other men. And Emma isn’t certain she can stand by while Jonathon fucks other women.
With a little help from Aunt Fee, and some great advice Jonathon agrees to create a scene for Emma.
“But always remember, a cock is just a cock, unless it belongs to the man you love.”
Ahhh, Aunt Fee. So full of wisdom, that one…
It’s no surprise that this is one of my two favorite scenes in this story. Its hot in every sense of the word. Jonathon pushes Emma’s boundaries to levels that she never dreamed of. I don’t want to give any specific details away, but Emma Jane went through a gauntlet of tasks designed to make her feel every emotion from pleasure, to fear, to humiliation. Each one making her equally crazy and turned on and empowered at the same time.
After the completion of her scene, Jonathon starts thinking more about what it would be like to watch Emma pleasure other men. This results in him taking a long overdue trip down to “The Closet”. What he doesn’t realize is, Emma follows him there and witnesses something very unexpected (Vague, I know. Again, I don’t want to give anything away!) After this trip to the closet” Jonathan decides that it’s time to train Emma in the act of total submission. This means servicing any client that comes to visit, with no complaints, no matter what. Because they are everyday people, not porn stars. Emma eagerly accepts and, at times she feels like she bit off more than she could chew, but by the end of her training, she proved to be a star pupil.
However, she can’t get her mind off of the closet and what she witnessed in the closet. After constant begging, Jonathon finally agrees to put Emma through all of the trials and tribulations that one must go through in order to appreciate the full closet experience. I am not going into ANY detail regarding the closet, but just know this was one of the hottest scenes that I’ve ever read.
Will Emma Jane make it through the experience? Will it make her relationship with Jonathon stronger, or will it be their ruin?
READ. THIS. BOOK!

James Crow lives in the UK in a redbrick mansion, where the walls are tall, the basements deep, and where secrets aplenty are just waiting to be told. Watch this space.

Ripple Effect Episode Four by Keri Lake….Release Day Blitz

Amazon

From the author of Ricochet and Backfire comes a dark erotic suspense serial …

Episode Four: With every cause, there’s an effect, and Ripley will do everything in his power to keep Dylan safe. To hell with the consequences.

Series Synopsis:

Ripley

They call me RIP.
I’m a killer. A murderer. A psychopath.
In the eyes of the righteous, I’m a monster, born of sin and depravity.
I want to protect her, but I’m not a good man.
I want to love her, but I no longer feel.
She gets under my skin, though, and has awakened something inside of me.
Something I’d kill for.
I’m not her savior—not even close. In fact, I’m worse than the hell she’s already suffered.
I’m her vengeance. Tit for tat, as they say.
And if she’s not careful, I’ll be her ruin.

Dylan

For months, I’ve watched him.
I’ve fantasized him as my savior, my lover. My ticket out of the hell I’ve lived in for the last six years.
I never dreamed he’d be my nightmare.
Had I known what he really is, I’d have never gotten in the car that night, but life is full of cause and effect.
And sometimes the choice on offer isn’t a choice at all.
It’s the result of something already in motion, and we’re merely left to survive the ripple effect.

*This is an erotic suspense/erotic romance not recommended for readers under the age of 18 due to graphic violence and sex

Dylan

“Look, I know it doesn’t mean anything to you.  I get that you don’t like the hero stuff.  But I really do appreciate what you did.”  I run my finger along his perfectly trimmed hairline and bend forward to kiss the back of his neck.  I can’t help it.  It’s the first time I’ve attempted affection since his accusation.
He doesn’t react at all.  Doesn’t even look at me, and I’m at a complete loss for how to crack this man.  There are times I feel I’ve touched his soul, only to find I’ve not even breached his skin.
His lack of reaction to me is nothing short of embarrassing—rejection of the worst kind, because I’ve tacked it on to a pathetic gesture of thanks.
“Forget it.”  I step past him and feel a hard grip of my arm that spins me right the hell around.  Twisting my wrist is a fruitless effort in his steel grip, and in spite of my resistance, he pulls me back into him, until I fall awkwardly straddling his lap.  I slide back on his legs, and he yanks me forward by my wrists, until I’m fully aware of what must be one hell of a painful bulge between us.  “This isn’t easy for me, you know?  Showing my gratitude.  I’m not used to this shit.  And you make it … impossible!”
“I don’t need your fucking gratitude, Dylan.  It was a job, okay?”
“I’m just a job to you?”  I can’t even believe I’m talking aloud, saying this shit like something straight out of an angsty teen movie, but he’s got me so pissed I can’t help myself.  The words continue to fall in all their cringe-worthy glory.  “That’s it?  You didn’t give a shit, right?  You’d have let those bastards use and abuse me right there? Rook wanted to fuck me with a pair of pliers.  Did you know that?”  The tic of his eye and the clench of his jaw tell me I’ve hit a nerve, and still my mouth won’t quit.  “Is that what gets you off, Ripley?  Are you such a sadistic bastard, so goddamn hell-bent on pain you’d have let that happen?”
His brows come together at the same time he grips my jaw, and for the first time in the last hour, I see something flicker across his face—pain, anger, I can’t tell, but it’s better than the stoic expression he’s been wearing.  “I’ve killed him a million times in my mind for touching you, Dylan.  You’re having trouble showing gratitude?  I’m having a fuck of a time playing the good guy here.  I don’t save people, sweetheart.  I kill them.  In brutally violent ways, but last night …” His lips form a hard line, brows stern.  “I would’ve taken every bruise they put on your body.  Every punch for you.  Only for you.  Seeing you laid out like that flipped my fucking switch, and I lost control.”

Forever by Monica Murphy….Blog Tour & Review

SBPR-FOREVER-BT

Forever by Monica Murphy

Release Date: April 4th, 2017

Series: Friends

Genre: Young Adult

Forever, an all new Friends story from Monica Murphy, is available now!!

Forever AMAZON

She’s all I could ever want…

I have a reputation around school. Cold. Untouchable. Unfeeling. Only one girl could ever make me want to change and that’s Amanda Winters. Too bad I broke her heart and drove her away.

So to get through the rest of my days in high school, I tell myself I need to focus on more important things. Like taking our football team to championships. Get accepted to the college of my choice. And finish my senior year without wanting to run away from my problems.

But your problems chase after you no matter where you go. And it’s a lot harder when you fight them alone. The longer I go without Amanda, the more I miss her. Her smile. Her laughter. The things she said. How she looked at me like I was the only person who mattered. The way she made me feel…

Why can’t I have everything, including the girl? I’m determined to make things right. And make Amanda mine…

Forever.

Excerpt:

I’m walking through the senior parking lot when I spot Jordan standing near his black Range Rover, leaning against its side. He’s wearing a white Henley shirt, his arms crossed and his biceps bulging beneath the long sleeves. The breeze ruffles his dark hair across his forehead and he stares off into the distance, every inch the troubled, broody boy that he is.

He looks so freaking good, I’m momentarily distracted by him. I stop and stare, my lips parted, my breath becoming shallow. It’s still hard for me to believe that this guy, this gorgeous, sweet, annoying, smart, strong, wonderful, awful boy likes me. That he might even care about me.

“Hey.” His deep baritone knocks me from my daze, and I head over, stopping just in front of him. “Where’s Livvy?”

“She made last minute plans. With someone else.” I don’t say anything else. Livvy’s secret isn’t mine to tell, and I’m afraid if I start talking about it, I’ll get really pissed. So I leave it alone. “Guess I don’t need to drive your car after all, but thank you for offering. I sense it was huge deal.”

“It is,” he agrees, tipping his head toward me. “But you’re worth it.”

Oh. He says things like that and I’m left speechless.

“You don’t have any plans?”

“No.” I shake my head, feeling tongue-tied.

Jordan grabs my hand, lacing our fingers and giving them a squeeze. “Then let’s go to lunch together.”

“Don’t you want to stay here?” He usually does. He’s always out at the quad, holding court over his loyal subjects. I used to sit out there with him, with all of them, just basking in his presence. But once we had the so-called breakup of our so-called relationship, I stopped going. One, because I couldn’t stand to be near him knowing he wasn’t mine anymore. Besides, most everyone who would hang out with Tuttle is annoying. Frustrating. Awful.

All of the above.

“No, not if I can sneak off campus somewhere with you.” He tugs me closer, his expression serious, his voice low. “Let me treat you to lunch, Amanda.”

When he talks to me like that, looks at me like that, I tend to give in easily.

“Okay,” I say softly, a jolt pulsing through me when he runs his thumb over the top of my hand. Sometimes the simplest touch has the most devastating effect.

9 bad in me

I love that I when I am reading a book and by the end of it I am smiling like a total fool. And this book does just that. A perfect ending for Tuttle and Amanda.

Forever is the finale in this series and also the second book in Tuttle and Amanda’s odd relationship. Throughout this book, these two go back and forth on what they are. Monica does a great job of delivering the teenage drama and angst in this one.

Even thought this book surrounds Tuttle and Amanda, we do see a lot of the other characters too. We get to see how things pan out for Livvy and Ryan. We get to learn a little more about Kyla, Connor and see a bit of change in Em. None of their stories takes away from the main story and adds into the flow everything.

Monica really wrote a great story full of teenage angst and typical drama. She was able to put you back in that frame of mind with how teenagers react to things. They don’t think stuff through a lot of time and just react or they tend to worry over things more than talk it out; things like that are typical teen reactions. And Monica really hit that perfectly.

As much as I hated to see this series end, Monica gave us the best closing possible for all characters. However, I am hoping that we may get a few standalones for a character or two that really stood out in this book.

I would highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good YA romance read.

The Banker by Piper Rayne…Release Day Blitz

Cover Design: Djordje Grbic

Release Date: April 5, 2017

Synopsis

Who knew my brother’s friend could be Mr. Right, and not just Mr. Right Now?

My brother refused to introduce me, so I blame him. If he’d just caved, and introduced me to Jasper, I wouldn’t be in this mess. I mean, really, what’s the big deal? I’m not interested in the guy’s looks.

Oh no, I want his cold hard cash. (Be honest, you were expecting that other four letter ‘c’ word weren’t you?)

Now, before you go getting all judgy, I’m not a gold digger. I have a legitimate business opportunity for Jasper to invest in. The problem is that my stick-up-his-ass brother is embarrassed that his twin sister invents kick ass sex toys. His problem, not mine.

So, I took matters into my own hands. Defeat isn’t a word in Lennon Hart’s dictionary.

Using my stealthy P.I. moves, I narrowed my search to a time and place where I knew I could find him. It was completely innocent. A chance meeting that would give me the opportunity to pitch my business.

It wasn’t until I sat down across from the gorgeous panty soaking man in front of me, that I realized I wanted so much more than just his money. I could very well want his heart if I wasn’t careful.

Apparently my P.I. skills aren’t as stellar as I thought because Jasper had his own secret—and it changed EVERYTHING.

THE FINAL BOOK IN THE TRILOGY!

Safe in the ivory tower…

Gabriel Miller swears he’ll keep me safe. Enemies lurk outside, waiting to strike. An army held back by these walls.

Except some animal instinct warns me the danger is much closer. It’s already here. Is Gabriel my protector or my enemy? Is this house a castle or a cage?

There’s nowhere for me to go, no one left for me to trust.

No escape from a past determined to capture its prize.

17390400_1280947771960086_5700844342233274530_o

Another 5 loves for Skye Warren! I’m so sad to say goodbye to Avery and Gabriel! I loved their story so much! This was a very quick read for me. Time flew, so much so that I completely forgot to highlight more of my favorite quotes. I did manage to get 2 sizzling hot ones though!
The Castle picked up a few weeks or so after The Knight ended. Avery is “locked away” in Gabriel’s home while Johnathan Scott is still on the loose. Avery has signed up for a couple of online classes and, in between studying, Avery and Gabriel continue battling each other at chess.
SIDENOTE: Let me tell you, I’ve played chess before. I’ve never really been into it, but I guess I was doing it wrong? Haha! The next time I play, I will need to make sure to do it like Avery and Gabriel!
“You don’t know what you’re asking for.” I move one final piece before following him. “Then show me.” He whirls. “God, do you think I don’t want to? That I don’t want to hurt you? That I don’t want to see your pretty skin marred with my fingerprints? Smeared with blood?” There’s something strangely seductive about his threats. It’s the same feeling I get when he checkmates me—feeling cornered, feeling grateful. My wings want to beat against a cage. “I could make you bleed,” I whisper. He cocks his head, his eyes molten lava. “Could you?”
and
<b><i>
“Stop it. You want to push me away? Fine. Consider me pushed. You don’t have to hurt my feelings.” “Yes, that would be contrary to my purposes. I prefer to keep you satisfied so that you’ll smile when I fuck your tight little pussy, so that you’ll hide your face when it hurts too much, bite your lip to keep from crying out. So you’ll let me hurt you.”
 Holy. Shit.
Anyway… back to the review…
It doesn’t take long before they find out that there is a bounty on Avery’s head. One night, while making an unexpected trip to The Den, they run into Damon Scott and an injured girl. Avery decides that she would like to care for the girl and they bring her back to Gabriel’s estate.
Its around this time that Avery starts feeling… different. I don’t want to say more because of spoilers. Gabriel knows something is up with her, but she tells him she’s fine and he doesn’t push the issue.
After getting a lead on Johnathan Scott, who is like a ghost, Gabriel leaves suddenly to look for him. Three weeks go by and Avery is going crazy with worry. She decides that she needs to go looking for Gabriel. The thought that she could be caught and killed doesn’t make her hesitate. Gabriel could be in danger and that’s the most important thing to her.
THIS ENDING… O.M.G. I never saw it coming. Let me just say that Johnathan Scott is one FUCKED UP dude.
This series was so so so good! Congratulations Skye on another amazing series! I am so looking forward to Damon’s book!

The price of survival…

Gabriel Miller swept into my life like a storm. He tore down my father with cold retribution, leaving him penniless in a hospital bed. I quit my private all-girl’s college to take care of the only family I have left.

There’s one way to save our house, one thing I have left of value.

My virginity.

A forbidden auction…

Gabriel appears at every turn. He seems to take pleasure in watching me fall. Other times he’s the only kindness in a brutal underworld.

Except he’s playing a deeper game than I know. Every move brings us together, every secret rips us apart. And when the final piece is played, only one of us can be left standing.

Affliction by Jenika Snow….Release Day Blitz

It wasn’t until Cameron that I knew what real darkness was…or that I’d crave it so much.

I’ve let the world weigh down on me; pull me under until nothing makes sense anymore. Maybe that’s how I let myself get into the mess I’m currently in? Maybe that’s how I’m in my current situation with a man I knew could save me from a fate worse than death. Even if being with Cameron, giving him the very part of me, the only part that’s worth anything—my body—might very well ruin me, I have to survive.

Drug lord. Crime Boss. Murderer. I should fear him, be horrified by what he wants from me, by who he is. But instead, I find myself wanting to please him, wanting to give myself over completely.

Because I know that gives me control over him.

Cameron Ashton reins over the gritty underworld, the danger and violence of depravity, from his throne. A pistol is his sword, and apathy is his second-in-command. I know he’s dangerous, know he’ll break me and not think twice. But he’s my only chance, the only way I’ll survive.

He’s possessive and controlling. And he does own me, every part of me. The darkness in him runs stronger, deeper than it ever had in me. Maybe we’re not so different? Maybe giving up my control to Cameron, giving him my very soul, makes me the powerful one?

Maybe, in the end, I’ll be the one who owns him.

Warning: This is a filthy, dark romance. There may be subject matter and triggers that are sensitive to some readers. In the end, this IS a romance, albeit a twisted one. If you’re looking for a story that gives you the warm and fuzzies, this is not the book for you.

“You want to be free of this pain, of this nightmare?”

Still I couldn’t speak. I glanced at Ricky. He watched me, one eye swollen shut, blood covering his face. He didn’t seem strong now. He knew his number had been pulled and he’d be dead before the night was over. I knew that, too. I also didn’t give a shit. He deserved this. Ricky knew who and what he was up against, and he knew this was the end of the road for him.

Maybe that makes me a monster, too, because I don’t care. I want him to suffer, to be afraid.

“Sofia,” Cameron said my name softly, urging me in that deep, commanding voice of his.

“Yes,” I whispered, my voice empty, just like my soul. I turned and faced the man who’d ridden in like the very devil himself. But then again, wasn’t I the match to this gasoline-saturated scene?

“Say it. Ask me for it.” Cameron’s voice was eerily strong, collected.

I looked at Ricky again, a man who would have done horrible things to me, trying to push my humanity down.

“Ask me to take your problem away.” Cameron’s voice was low, a little seductive. I glanced at him again, feeling like I was lost at sea.

Cameron was powerful and wanted to exert that, wanted me to be on my knees as he showed me what he could do—figuratively and literally—what he could solve. I was at his mercy, the same as Ricky. And a part of me knew that once I said the words, everything would change. I told Cameron what I wanted, that I wanted Ricky gone, dead, the life I once knew, albeit shitty, would become something else.

I’d be the epitome of darkness, embracing it because I’d taken a life in my hands and extinguished it.

“I want my problem to go away.” The words that came from me were cold, detached…just like my soul in that exact moment. I saw the way Cameron’s lip lifted, this sardonic, sadistic smirk coming into play. He would have killed Ricky without my prompt, without me begging. But here, now, making me ask, that was him showing me the control he had over me.

It was the promise of what he’d show me once we were alone and I had to pay my dues.

“Say it,” Cameron said again, harder this time.

I swallowed, squeezed my hands into fists, and said the words that would change the very person I thought I was. “I want him dead.”

It happened in slow motion, the world rewinding, the air being sucked out of the room. Cameron lifted his hand, his hold steady on the gun, his body seeming corded, tighter. Ricky begged, pleaded. He cried and shook uncontrollably. It didn’t matter, because his fate had already been sealed.

He knew what it felt like for me, how his life was now in someone else’s hands. Good.

And then the sound of the gun going off filled me, surrounded me. It was an echoing in my head, rocking me to my core, shaking everything inside of me. Warmth seeped over me, seemed to seep into me.

Blood. Hot, viscous, life-sustaining fluid covered my face and chest. I was frozen in place, my body numb, the feeling of that liquid dripping from my chin, from the very ends of my hair and onto the floor, stunned as much as it disgusted and pleased me.

More to Me by B.L. Mooney…Release Day Blitz

Author: B.L. Mooney
Title: More to Me
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: April 4, 2017

Raelyn Clarke is the woman of my dreams, but she’s way out of my league. I’m a starving artist with a deranged mutt. She’s an attorney saving children from deranged parents. I’m not exactly the type of man she’s looking for.

She thinks she’s found the one, but she doesn’t know his name. A stranger who rocked her world one night and showed her a connection she thought was impossible. A connection she’s desperate to feel again.

She’s settling for someone she does know, but he’s only perfect on paper. An attorney who matches her for education, career, and money, but doesn’t have a chance in hell of showing her the passion the other man showed her.

How do I know? Let’s just say there’s more to me than Hudson Kelley, the goofy neighbor across the hall. I have to tell her the truth soon. Right now, it’s better to keep her in the dark.

“Why are you making these cookies, anyway?”

She looked at the burnt ones and back to me. “They were supposed to be a peace offering, but the more I thought about what I was going to say to you when I took them to you, the more hyped I got to say it.” She reached across the island and held my hand. “I really missed you.”

I took the hand she placed in mine and held it with both of my hands. I wanted to say so much. I wanted to show her how much I’d missed her even though I was angry with her. I wanted to show her how much I cared. I was afraid.

“I missed you, too.” I couldn’t look at her. I was afraid she’d see everything I was feeling with that one look.

She tugged on my hands and I opened mine, thinking she wanted to let go. She grabbed my hands again and pulled me around the island to hug me. “I’m so sorry I ever made you feel that way.”

I hugged her back and tried to not crush her. I didn’t want to let her go, but I knew I had to. It was too soon to make a move or to tell her how I felt, but having her in my arms made it impossible to stay quiet. “You’ve made me feel a lot more than that.”

She pulled back and looked at me. She didn’t let go, but she wanted to see into my eyes. It was as if she was searching to see what I was feeling, but I wasn’t sure she was ready for the answer. I didn’t say anything, but I returned her gaze. She looked down to my lips, and I pulled her hips closer. I wanted her to kiss me. I wanted her to make that first move.

The door opened, but we didn’t break our stance. I was sorry for the interruption, but I was glad it was Jamie and not Darrin. That would’ve been even more awkward.

“Wow.” Jamie walked in and turned the timer off on the oven. We hadn’t heard it. “Are you two deaf?”

Raelyn’s hands slid down my arms as she stepped away. It was as if she didn’t want to let go, either. I wondered what would’ve happened if Jamie hadn’t walked in. Whatever did happen was enough to give me hope that she would see me as more than the guy next door some day.

She cleared her throat and turned to Jamie. “We’re making ice cream cookies.”

“Looks like you’re burning the poor things to me.”

Raelyn glanced my way a couple of times. She looked confused, but that only gave me more hope. She was feeling something. I’d wait as long as it took for her figure it out.

B.L. Mooney started writing when the voices and storylines in her head ran out of room. They were getting too cramped and neither B.L. nor the characters could take it anymore, so she did the only thing she could do—she made room. She always knew she wanted to write, but vowed to make time for it later. Now that she’s made time for writing, most everything else falls to the wayside. That seems to suit the characters that keep popping up in her head just fine.

B.L. lives in the Midwest, and her other talents include in-demand cookies, a very dry sense of humor, and stealth eavesdropping. Some mannerisms, attitudes, or twists come from random sentences picked up while passing by strangers. So speak up the next time you have something to gossip about. You never know, it may just end up on the pages of the next book you read.

She has no choice but to put herself back in this filthy prince’s extremely capable hands.

Sammy must trust Kain to keep her safe. She’s just not sure she can trust herself to resist temptation.

Excerpt:

“Did you move in or something?”

He’d snuck up on me, his arms folded over his gray jacket. He looked oddly clean and crisp in such fancy clothes. In one hand, he held two champagne flutes.

We were alone in the kitchen. That fact sat heavy in my belly.

Gripping the counter behind me, I said, “Your sister needed the help.”

“Careful.” He stepped closer, his eyes never straying from my face. “Once you start with her, she’ll never stop asking you to do things.”

Helplessly, I measured the distance between us. I was trapped in my corner; he’d corralled me so easily. “I like helping people.”

“I have something you could help with. Something pretty big.”

Flushing, I bounced my attention down to his zipper. I didn’t mean to, it was as if his gritty voice had taken hold of my neck and guided me down.

And his smile said he’d seen me do it.

I cleared my throat. “You’re a big boy, you can help yourself.”

“Oh, I do. And I will.” His foot came down, the shiny shoe transfixing me the closer he got. “I’ll jerk this cock off to thoughts of you, sweetheart. Especially to the memory of how you felt in my arms earlier.”

My muscles were useless. All I could do was squeeze the counter harder. “Fine. Go do that.”

“Tch.” His chuckle caressed between my legs. “You can pretend all you want, but I know I got to you, too. That’s why you’ve been avoiding me all day.”

“I was busy with your sister,” I argued.

“And after that?”

“I was planning to go home.”

“But you didn’t.”

His lips were only a foot away. How had he gotten into my personal space so smoothly? When I spoke, it was a whisper. “I was just about to, you interrupted me.”

“Let’s get some honesty going.” His arm came forward. I flinched, expecting him to touch me—he put one of the glasses next to me on the counter. “You want me. I can tell how badly you want me. And you also want nothing to do with me.”

“That last part is definitely true.”

Grinning, he bent against the counter. “You’re not looking for some long-term baby-making plans with me, right?” Fuck, I was so red. “You want to never see me again? Fine.” His low tone flooded my ears, making me dizzy. “Get me out of your system. Fuck me, sweet thing. Fuck me and forget me.”

Cupping my chin, he leaned his weight into me. I bent, I crumbled, and I let my facade crack. Kain was too tempting. I wanted to know how his smirk would feel on me, how his quick tongue would taste.

He was right. I wanted him.

Kain stared me down. I kept wondering when he was going to kiss me.

Stepping back, he nudged the champagne into my hand. On impulse, I took it. “Drink,” he explained, “Then come find me in the garden.” There was nothing else to be said, apparently, because he walked out of sight.

Sliding down to the floor, I hugged the glass. He’d left me a total mess and he’d barely touched me.

Staring into the golden drink, I watched the bubbles pop. Some floated to the top, others clung to the glass as if trying to hold off their fate.

Which was I? A fighter . . . or a bubble that wanted to be popped?

Putting the glass to my lips, I sipped.

Champagne had never tasted so much like sin.
