My Review:

His Royal Secret is the first in a new series form author Liliah Pace and from the description alone, I knew this was going to be an amazing story. After reading it, I have to say that Ms. Pace is one helluvah writer and I will certainly be looking into her previous works because this book knocked my socks off!

I am a sucker from good royal scandals and am fascinated with how they have to live their lives. I could never imagine having every move I made be scrutinized and ridiculed. I certainly couldn’t imagine living a lie under that kind of social microscope but alas, James is doing just that. He has never been able to live his life as a gay man seeing as though he was s royal and while the world is certainly much more tolerant of a lot of things, it’s still not ready for a gay prince or king. My heart breaks for James and the life he leads. He has a great friend who has helped keep his charade of a straight man intact but he longs for more and when he met Benjamin I just knew it was something special for both of them. I loved them together so damn much but in the same breath I was worried for James that he would be found out and his life would be ruined because of the close-minded and ignorant. I love how these two secret lovers made their relationship work and that James has people close to him who know who he really is and accept him for that. It was so amazing to read the dichotomy of James’ royal persona and the man he is behind closed doors. The quiet and stolen moments he and Ben share are so special and so real. I won’t ruin anything for you but I will say that this book ends leaving me both excited and terrified for their future!

I’m also dying to see what happens with James’ younger sister. She is a bit of a mess and I’m sure her story is going to be an emotional one!

My Review:

Into the Blue is the second book in author Chanel Cleeton’s Wild Aces series and after falling in love with this group of fly boys in the first book, I was so excited to get my hands on this second installment.

I love a good second chance romance and having met Becca and Eric (Thor) in the first book I had no doubt their story was going to be sexy and full of high emotion. Well, Ms. Cleeton didn’t disappoint! After a pretty messy ending to their relationship it’s easy to imagine this was going to be a delicious and intense read and was it ever. The chemistry between Becca and Eric is crazy hot and I just loved reading them. I was glued to each page and was so sad when I realized I had read it so quickly.

I also loved getting to see more of the entire cast of characters I have grown to love. Of course, this just leaves me in more anticipation of the next book, On Broken Wings. I have a feeling I will need to order an entire case of tissues for that one and I can’t freaking WAIT!

Samantha’s Secret (A More Perfect Union #3)…Review

If you’re looking for something besides Dukes and rakes and nobility, try this American Revolutionary

War historical romance. It was charming and interesting and felt like a mash-up of Gone With the Wind

and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.

I loved the plot of Samantha’s Secret. Samantha is a healer and uses herbs and teas and very traditional

practices. Trent is a doctor, trained in the latest and greatest. A mutual friend is injured during a

skirmish with the British and their bedside manners clash over how to treat him. While they were

butting heads over how to care for the patient, sparks are flying between the two of them. I liked these

two together, even if Trent came off as a bit condescending sometimes.

Aside from the romance, this story has a great storyline regarding Samantha’s parents, who are British

loyalists, and what will happen to her if and when they leave America. This is book three in a series and

even without reading the first two, I got a good sense of the strong friendship between Samantha and

her friends.

Good, solid story and characters set in an interesting time period.

My Review:

I am a huge fan of the awesomeness that is Lauren Blakeley’s writing and was so excited for this new series. From start to finish, Ms. Blakeley once again nailed it. This story is full of duplicity, mystery, and sexy banter. I loved Steph and Jake and the series of events from their past that have led them onto the same path in finding out truths and possibly bringing a thief to justice. I was glued to each page wondering if Steph could help her mother by bringing the only father she had known to justice if he was, in fact, a money embezzling thief. I equally loved Jake and his loyalty to his family and in keeping the worry of day to day finances and business squarely on his shoulders. Together they have a sexy connection that I could eat up with a spoon!

The ending of this story was done perfectly in that we get a teensy bit of resolution but are left wanting to know so much more with the future of this couple.

Thank you, Ms. Blakeley, for another kick ass story!

He’d have to get to the bottom of this on his own, and figure out if he was being played by the woman with the starfish belly ring. He wasn’t going to let last night’s kiss cloud his focus. He wasn’t going to let that blue bikini that hugged her hips, and had the good fortune to snuggle up to her breasts, distract him. Absolutely not.

“I’m glad you made it. I thought you’d get a kick out of Happy Turtle Cove, since you named me Happy Turtle,” she said, then dropped her voice to a faux whisper. “But it’s really a cove for turtles. I was just swimming with them.”

Stop. Just stop.

Swimming with turtles was too adorable. Especially when her nose crinkled. A constellation of freckles was splashed across her nose. He hadn’t noticed them yesterday. Briefly, he wondered where else she might be hiding freckles that he’d uncover on a proper and thorough investigation of her fantastic body. Preferably with his tongue, across every inch of her skin. “You were actually swimming with turtles?”

She tapped the mesh bag on her shoulder. “My snorkel gear is in here.” She gestured to her body. “Sorry, I’m still in my bathing suit. I’ll put on a sundress as soon as this is dry.”

“Or just remove the bikini entirely so it’ll dry faster. It’s not ever necessary to put on a dress on my account. I’m completely OK with the bikini as a sole item of clothing on a woman like you,” he said, then nearly smacked himself. He had to stop thinking with his dick. He had to use that head on his goddamn shoulders.

Cover up that body. Put a paper bag over your face. Stop being so damn sexy and sweet. Stop making me think about taking you back to my hotel room and peeling off that bikini and tasting how sweet your sun-kissed skin is.

“I’m glad to know that both nudity and skimpy bathing suits have your sartorial approval. But I actually hope to look somewhat decent when you take me to the Coconut Iguana. My friend Sandy runs it.”

He arched an eyebrow in question.

She tapped her wrist, even though it was bare. She didn’t strike him as a watch wearer. “Lunch time. I’m hungry. So I decided to let you take me out to lunch as a reward for your showing up and following my napkin instructions. Plus, they have the best fish tacos on the Islands, and absolutely amazing coconut drinks,” she said, stepping closer and bumping her hip against him.

A groan rumbled in his chest. Why was the universe torturing him?

He forced his brain to take over. To focus on facts, not lust. Because it made no sense why she’d be hungry, since he’d seen her at a restaurant two hours ago, and she didn’t look like she noshed around the clock. This was another sign that she might be working for the enemy.

“I’m hungry, too. Let’s head to the Coconut Iguana.” He held out a hand, telling himself that lunch was the perfect opportunity to get to the heart of who this woman was. Since she knew Eli, she might be a valuable asset. And if this woman was playing him, he could play her.

My Review:

First off, I have to say, I love this whole concept. Being a big fan of 1,001 Dark Nights, I’ve been spoiled with these tasty little morsels of stories that can get me out of my own head for a couple of hours and just decompress. I will always love full-length novels, but some times a little taste of delicious is all I need to satisfy my reading hunger. So, I was so excited to hear James Patterson was diving into the romance world with some authors I already know and love and giving us another course of tasty little reading morsels.

I’ve also been a big fan of Ms. McLaughlin’s for quite some time as well and was over the moon to get my hands on this title! The McCullagh Inn in Maine was such a change of pace from what I’m used to from Ms. McLaughlin and I adored it! I love when authors I’m familiar with show me a different side to their writing and Ms. McLaughlin did just that. Not only was there amazing chemistry between the two main characters, there was a ton of history and a whole lot of mystery as to what lead them to where they were today. That mystery also lead to some tense moments where I wasn’t sure who was on team good or team bad! I love that feeling…when you’re questioning everyone and are praying for a good outcome. Jeremy and Chelsea are amazing characters with a heated and tumultuous past. Their paths lead them back together, and even though Chelsea isn’t thrilled about it, Jeremy will soon become someone she can rely on, and with her past lurking in the shadows, she will certainly need it. The push and pull between them was done really well and the danger getting closer and closer to them was also a layer to this story I thoroughly enjoyed.

Overall, this was a fantastic read with layers of suspense, mystery, emotion, and even romance. I’m already excited for more in this series! Thank you, Ms. McLaughlin, for a great story!

“Two minutes to curtain,” called out the stage manager.

We all hustled to take our places for the first number, and Ash walked with Laney as she wheeled herself to a spot where she could watch from the wings.

All the dancers linked hands, raising our arms in the air as we took our final bow. Ash stepped forward, looking down at the band and applauding them, too. Then he clasped his hands together and pressed them to his heart, before waving to the audience and leaving the stage.

Yveta, Gary and Oliver stepped forward with me and Sarah to take our bows as co-leads, then we too left the stage.

And it was all over.

The applause drained away as the curtain fell for the last time and the house lights came up.

Then it was the slow descent to normalcy as we peeled away the roles we’d played, along with our costumes, wigs and makeup.

My Review:

Luka is the second book in author Jane Harvey-Berrick’s Rhythm Series and being a big fan of this author I was excited to read this newest release. If there’s one thing I know I can count on from Ms. Harevy-Berrick it’s a well-written story with interesting and complex characters. Luka was no exception.

I want to start out by saying this is not a true love triangle book, which is good, because I’m just not a fan of all the angst that a love triangle brings. That being said, this book still had an immense amount of angst. For me, I love when those kind of high emotions are done well, and it certainly was with Luka. I also want to let you know you really don’t have to have read the first in the series to dive into this installment. I hadn’t had a chance to read the previous book and I was still able to enjoy Luka.

Ok now to get to the nitty gritty! You can really get a good feel for how Luka is just by reading the synopsis. Luka isn’t bad or good, he’s just a pretty regular 27 year old single guy. Acting like single guys do. Partying, finding new partners to share his bed with, and it really didn’t matter if it was a man or a woman. For Luka the idea was just to live life and enjoy every minute. I really liked him a lot and yet at the same time my heart broke for him. He goes thorough some pretty rough things in this story and was treated pretty poorly at times. I experienced a wide range of emotions as I read. I was angry, upset, sad, and sympathetic. I just wanted some good for Luka and I didn’t care whose arms he found it in. I don’t want to go too much into the plot because It’s not something I want to ruin for anyone of you. Trust me when I tell you, it’s raw, gritty, moving, touching, emotional, and all the things this author does so damn well!

If you’re looking for something decidedly different from a typical romance, this is a story you should pick up. Thank you Ms. Harvey-Berrick for yet another touching read.

My Review:

The Angel Wore Fangs is the seventh book in author Sandra Hill’s Deadly Angels series and sadly the first in the series I’ve read. I say sadly because this book was simply fantastic and I must read the rest of the books!

I adored the interesting take on Viking angels and how Cnut came to be and how he ended up in his current station in life. I loved that even though he was a somewhat reformed glutton, he still loved food and all things delicious. His internal debates when it came to treats and overindulging was adorable at times. Who would think a big bad Viking could be adorable, right? Well, Cnut had more than a few adorable moments in this book. He is a total bad ass but was funny and sweet more times than I can count and I loved that about him. He was especially entertaining when it came to Amanda and his attraction to her. He knows he needs to stay away but it proves to be an uphill battle. Amanda is an equally amazing character with a quick wit, ability to go with the flow (well, after freaking out when necessary), and an admirable determination to help her sister. Their banter was always playful and then, when the undercurrents of attraction get stronger and stronger, it becomes so much hotter.

The mess these two find themselves in was quite a pickle. Amanda is searching for her sister and she had no idea it involves otherworldly beings, evil minions, time travel, Viking angels and ISIS (yep, ISIS!). Poor Amanda was quite surprised to say the least! Luckily she’s got Cnut by her side and he proves to be exactly the man she needed.

I also have to give a shout out to Ms. Hill’s for all of the Pennsylvania settings and references! I currently live in the Philadelphia suburbs and grew up in the Poconos so it was really awesome to read about places I knew 🙂

Ms. Hill’s take on the paranormal is refreshing and exciting and as soon as I finish typing this review you can bet I’ll be headed over to pick up the rest of this series.

I know what you’re thinking – Ice Planet Barbarians? Is she serious? These were my same thoughts when this series hit my radar. But then I saw more people talking about it and saying how much they enjoyed it. People were getting excited about new releases, so when the author ran a promotion for the first book to be free, I one-clicked. And I’m so happy I did.

I love these books! They’re sexy and hysterical and hit all the right spots for my nerdy scifi-loving self. It’s like an Avatar/The Empire Strikes Back mashup with hot sex and alien cocks that are better than the highest priced Rabbit vibrator.

But it’s the humor that really cements this series as something more than the naughty thoughts you had while watching Avatar. Once our human heroine, Georgie, gets caught in the trap of our alien hero, Vektal, things really take off.

The aliens, the sa-khui, have symbiotic beings inside them, their khui, that will “resonate” when they meet their mate. It’s the alien version of fated lovers. When Vektal finds Georgie in his trap, he resonates. This big, blue dude wastes no time and spirits her off to a hunting cave. Georgie has passed out from the sight of him and so he’s free to examine this strange and curious creature that his khui is telling him is his mate. And he’s not shy.

She’s smooth. Not like a sa-khui. Her flesh is almost completely hairless, save for the long, flowing locks on her crown and a small tuft between her thighs that’s revealed as I pull her leathers from her. I snort with amusement at that small tuft.

Adorable. Adorable and nonsensical.

That’s the first belly laugh I had with Ice Planet Barbarians but certainly not the last. In fact, the next laugh was almost immediate. Because when Georgie’s thighs parted, Vektal was so overcome with her scent that he went down on her. And that’s how she woke up. And, well, she just goes with it.

When one big hand pushes on my thigh, urging me to spread my legs wider, I do so. I’ll get up and protest in just a minute.

Just.

Minute.

Gold! This is pure gold! I really enjoyed the author’s writing style and her voice. Ice Planet Barbarians is the perfect mix of science fiction, romance, and scorching sex scenes. I couldn’t wait to read the rest of the series. In fact, it spurred me to get the free trial of Kindle Unlimited. I’m on book 3 and have no plans on stopping.

My Review:

A Promise Kept is the debut work from author Anissa Garcia and with a freshman work this wonderful, I see a bright future ahead of her! This story was heartfelt, emotional, flirty, and just plain fun to read.

A chance meeting sets Grace and Evan on a path to a beautiful love and, for Grace, a necessary healing. Grace’s heart was broken years earlier with a horrible loss and she now vows to keep a promise she made on the night her world was forever changed. It’s a promise that has kept her happy, but also single. She’s optimistic she will one day find the man willing to take the chance on her, give her the time she needs to be able to open up and take things slow in order to find a lasting love. Enter Evan. It didn’t matter that he was a wildly popular movie star and can have any woman he wants because once he sees Grace, he only has eyes for her.

I really enjoyed the pace of Evan and Grace’s relationship. It has a very real and believable feel with honesty and caution. I appreciated that immensely. There was a ton of emotion between them as well as a delicious building attraction and tension that I loved. Watching these two go from friends to lovers was so beautiful and touching,

I also really enjoyed the trio of friends both Evan and Grace have. Their banter was so fun to read and I sure hope we get to read more of them!

Every time I read a military romance I remember how much I love them. Like, really, really love them. Give me a guy who fights for his country and honor and drop him into a story where his heart is on the line as well as his life? I’m all in, People. All. In.

The Omega Team: Ethan’s Promise is the seventh book in the Men of Mercy series by Lindsay Cross. It’s the first one I’ve read, but I’ll be going back and reading all of them. ALL OF THEM, I SAY.

Our hero, Ethan, had me from the beginning. Big, brawny guys who want to get the bad guy as revenge are high on my list.

Blood fueled by the need for revenge surged through Ethan’s veins and he clenched his hands into tight fists in his lap. “I want to go now.”

The desire for retribution against the man responsible for so many deaths demanded attention, and Ethan had every intention of being the first boots on the ground. He’d need to do a little bit of restocking and resupplying. Ethan’s favorite combat boots and Camelbak water pack had been destroyed in the explosion at headquarters, along with his laptop. He’d need to ask Hank James, the man who’d supplied the land for TF-S’s headquarters, if he could store his motorcycle in his barn.

Oooh, now he’s a brawny, bent-on-revenge, and pissed off hot military operative! Seriously, this book was like catnip for me.

Despite all of Ethan’s protests, he has to take two weeks of R&R before he can join his comrades in the hunt for their enemy, Mr. J, a former CIA operative turned traitor, who tried to murder everyone on Ethan’s team and their families. He’s not happy, folks. Not happy at all. But his buddy has a quick protection job that pays easy cash and that will keep Ethan occupied. A senator’s daughter is getting married and needs babysitting.

Enter our heroine, Kate. She’s an analyst who’s getting out from a boss who likes to cop a feel without asking. She’s smart and her instincts are good, but her field work is rusty. She joins the team but needs a refresher course on her field skills. Ethan gets to train her. Lucky, lucky girl.

The sparks fly off the page between these two almost from the get go. Scorching hot chemistry! Their cushy protection job takes a twist and boom! We’re off to the races.

If you like military series with a group of crazy hot guys who would lay down their lives for each other, check out Ethan’s Promise. I’m new to this author and this novella is a crossover for two of her series, Men of Mercy and Omega Team, but the story didn’t require having read any of the other books. But I’m going to read them all now that I’ve had a taste.

My Review:

For 100 Days is the first in a new trilogy from author Lara Adrian and being a reader who devours anything Ms. Adrian writes, I was so excited for this series. Holy moly, this book was scorching, sexy, emotional, so many things…and I loved it!

I know you’re probably thinking that this is another ‘billionaire finds the girl from the other side of the tracks and sweeps her off her feet’ romance, but I’m here to tell you that while, yes, that is one aspect of this book, there is just so much more to this story and it’s fantastic. Ms. Adrian pours so much into these two characters, it’s easy to fall in love with their story from the very first page. I love the layers both Dominic and Avery have within their personality. Sure, they’re from different stations in life but oh my, are they ever so perfect together! It makes no difference that she is a struggling artist working as a waitress and he is an uber white-collar businessman, the chemistry and heat between them is OFF THE CHARTS! I also loved how fate really had a way in how these two met and how they got together. While this is fiction, I know we can all think of a few times things happened for the better just because we were at the right place at the right time.

The mystery surrounding both Dominic and Avery and both of their pasts is also done brilliantly. Where we are able to find out more about Avery’s past by the end of this book, we are still left wondering about Dominic and I love that. We got our appetizer and the next book will be the main course. I adore having more to look forward to from these two fantastic characters!

I have no doubt all romance fans I have no doubt will fall in love with For 100 Days. I know I sure did! Thank you, Ms. Adrian, for this amazing story!
