Hot Cop by Laurelin Paige & Sierra Simone
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis

From NYT Bestselling Author, Laurelin Paige and USA Today Bestselling Author, Sierra Simone comes a steamy contemporary romantic follow-up to last year’s bestseller P*rn Star.

You have the right to remain sexy.

Anything you say can and will be used to get you in my bed.

You have the right to use my body to give yourself a delirious, life-changing orgasm.

If you have trouble…don’t worry, I’m a bit of an expert in that department.

There’s nothing ‘thin’ about my blue line, if you catch my drift, and trust me, I know how to put those handcuffs to good use.

***

Livia Ward wants a baby before she’s thirty. And even though Officer Chase Kelly is exactly the kind of cocky jerk this librarian has sworn off, he is undeniably hot. Both of them think they can give each other what they want–a few nights of fun for Officer Kelly, a no-strings baby for Livia–but this hot cop is about to learn that sex, babies, and love don’t always play by the rules.

Excerpt:

I’m at the steakhouse fifteen minutes early, which is on time in Chase Kelly’s book. I’ve never been late for work or a date a single time in my life; in fact, I’ve always been early, which is a point of pride for me. And Livia walks in at seven on the dot, something that endears me to her immensely, although the moment I register that I, Officer Kelly, am charmed, my mind goes blank.

Just blank.

There is nothing but her.

She walks in on heels that make her legs a mile long, her long hair down in a tumult of soft waves. The maître d’ helps her take off her checkered wool coat, and then I.

Am.

Speechless.

My heart hammers up in my throat as the blood pools deep in my groin. She’s wearing a bright red dress—so fucking short that I’d be able to finger her easily if we were in a booth, which we tragically aren’t. The red sets off the warm undertones of her bronze skin, highlights the deep brown of her eyes. The lines of it hug the delectable curves of her tits, which are just small enough that she can get away without wearing a bra.

My cock thickens as she begins walking toward me, and I can verify that she is definitely not wearing a bra. Oh God, what if she’s not wearing panties either?

I bite back a groan and push back my chair to greet her as she comes to our table, tugging the hem of my sweater down in one smooth move as I unfold myself to help disguise the effect her presence has on me.

As I step forward to greet her, I notice the color high in her cheeks and the way her teeth dig into the soft coral of her bottom lip.

She looks nervous.

That gives me pause. I don’t mind a woman meeting me cold or shy or overly eager, I don’t even mind a case of the first date jitters—since first dates are pretty much all I go on, I see a lot of those.

But nervous—truly nervous—that bothers me a little. Do I make her feel unsafe? Is it my size? My job?

In a split second, I change gears. I can be patient when it comes to the Kelly Trio, and I find that the idea of wooing my nervous little librarian on date after date doesn’t sound tiresome at all…it sounds delightful, actually. A challenge. A test to see if I’m worthy enough to remove all traces of trepidation from her face and fill her expression with eagerness and surrender instead.

And get more time with this fierce, sweet bookworm all to myself.

I lean in to kiss her cheek, careful to angle our bodies so that I don’t press against her with six feet, two hundred pounds of hungry cop. Instead, I anchor her with a firm hand at her elbow, pleased to feel the goose bumps that spread underneath my touch. And then I brush my lips against her cheek, making sure she can feel them, making sure she gets just the tiniest brush of my scruff as I accidentally-on-purpose slide my jaw against hers as I pull away.

She shivers.

I look down into her eyes as I straighten up, and I’m suddenly aware that I’m supporting a lot of weight in my hand, as if her knees are weak from my kiss.

Well done, Officer Good Times!

Her eyes are wide, the pupils so blown and her irises so dark that her eyes are just huge liquid wells of want, and I feel a familiar tug in my groin knowing that I put that look there.

“I forget how big you are,” she murmurs, her head tilted up to look into my face.

I give her my biggest grin and open my mouth, but she cuts me off before I can say it, shaking her head. “I know, I know. I walked right into that one.”

But the ghost of a smile flits across her lips as I help her into her seat and push in her chair.

When I sit across from her and we start looking at our menus, I notice the smile has vanished and the nervous look is back, along with a determined set to her shoulders. The combination of uneasiness and backbone intrigues and worries me at the same time.

“I don’t know what Megan told you,” I say, “but I don’t bite.”

She looks up from the menu, her teeth back to digging into the plump flesh of her bottom lip.

“Well,” I amend, staring at her mouth, “sometimes I do bite. But only when I really, really want to.”

My Review:

Can I just leave my review as this: BUY THIS BOOK!

Probably not, right?  But seriously, you don’t even need to read my review any further because the only thing you need to know is you need this book in your life.

From the very beginning I knew these two characters were going to be incredible.  And then when I found out what was going to unfold for them?  Holy moly.

Ok, now I’m sure you can get the drift of things when you read the synopsis what’s at play between Livia and Chase but trust me when I tell you that what starts out as fun and flirty turns delicious hot and emotional and I ate it all up with a spoon.  These two are beyond combustable together and even though they both agree to keep it just sex, the feelings grow, as you can imagine they would.  With Chase being the man that he is, exploding ovaries every time he mixes sexy with caring, I knew there was no way Livia would be able to stop feelings from forming for him.  And vice versa for Chase.  Livia is freaking adorable and there was no way Chase wasn’t going to fall for her.  Hell, I would fall for her! Together the heat is OFF THE CHARTS!  Grab a fan, a cold drink, an ice pack, anything to help cool while reading because dayum.  The whole story, the characters, the writing, all of it was just insanely incredible and I loved every second of it.

Seriously, buy this book.

Thank you Laurelin and Sierra for bringing Chase and Livia into our bookish world!

Notice by K. Webster…Blog Tour & Review

Notice

by K. Webster
Publication Date: June 6, 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Dark Romance, Suspense

Purchase: Amazon | Apple | Nook | Kobo

I didn’t notice her before…but now I do.
The shiny strands of gold in her silky brown hair.
Tiny crinkles between her eyebrows when she frowns.
Her passion for neatness.

Once I focus on her, I can’t take my eyes from my newest obsession. Ever.
I need to know everything about her.
Her past. Her present.
The way she takes her coffee.
Exactly how she smells after a spritz of perfume in the mornings.

She’s perfect in every way and I was blind.
But, God, now do I see.

I notice the organized way she arranges her clothes in her closet.
How she visits the same market each Saturday.
The sounds of her breathing as I lie beneath her bed in silence.

Violet is mine.
She just doesn’t know it yet.

***WARNING***
Notice is a dark and unusual romance. Extreme sexual themes and violence in certain scenes, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to dark themes, then this story is not for you. If you aren’t into super obsessive stalkers, then this story is not for you.

Notice – WOW!! K. Webster, I love how your mind works. This book was just as effed up as I was hoping it would be!! LOL

Yea, if you read the blurb, then you know that if you can’t handle stalkers or their very eccentric tendencies or have issues with assault – do not read this book. This book is not for you. But if you are like me and have a warped mind and tend to enjoy things that push boundaries, then this book is for you!

I really have no idea how to start this out. Notice is a twisted and fucked up story; and I loved every damn word of it!!! Violet has been hiding from her abusive ex for many years. She’s now got a great job as a secretary for Grayson Maxwell at Maxwell. She’s knows her worth and realizes at her current job, they will never see that. She gives her two weeks notice directly to her boss, and for the first time ever, he finally notices his own secretary; like truly SEES her! However, his attention is nothing like Violet ever expected. And Violet is nothing like Gray ever anticipated seeing. And he refuses to let her out of his sight ever again – day or night. Cue the twilight music now!

“There’s only room for one freak in her world. And I take up a lot of space.”

And that’s where things really get interesting. You have to read it for yourself to see what happens between Gray and Violet. I have to say that there were certain parts that had me cringing because it was fucking creepy as hell, but when he explains himself and how he acts toward her, you understand it. You go ok, this is flat-out creepy yet I get it. He’s truly doing this for the right reasons. Yea, you totally end up wondering if you have issues yourself while reading this book.

Violet is both strong and yet timid all at the same time. Her past has forced her to defend herself. Yet, when it comes to Gray, there is something about him that has her head in the clouds and just falling under his magnetism. He treats her like a queen and ravishes her body like a damn thanksgiving feast. Let me tell you, K. can write some sexy and hot as fuck scenes – I felt myself getting hot and bothered. HOT DAMN! Side note – let me clarify that the assault written in this book is not between Gray and Violet – they are flash backs of her past. Just wanted to clear that up real quick.

Notice is definitely not for everyone. It’s fucking creepy as hell. Yet, you can’t not read this book. It’s god damn addicting!! K. Webster – you’re a twisted genius and I love you for it!!

Release Day Review…Too Close To Call by Tessa Bailey

About TOO CLOSE TO CALL:

All-American wide receiver Kyler Tate’s life is about to change. A fairytale college career skyrocketed him to the NFL draft. Adoration and opportunity are thrown in his direction wherever he goes, thanks to being chosen in the first round by the Los Angeles Rage.

None of the accolades mean anything, though, without his high school sweetheart, Bree Justice, by his side. Four years ago, she walked away from Kyler, choosing a quiet life over the flash and notoriety his career would someday bring.

Now he’s back in their Indiana hometown, refusing to leave for Los Angeles without her. Demanding she give their life together a shot. Her heart never stopped bleeding for the love of her life, but Bree’s decision was final. Too bad their wild attraction has only been amplified by their separation, and Kyler won’t quit until Bree is wearing his ring.

My Review:

Too Close To Call is part of Tessa Bailey’s Romancing the Clarksons series as well as the 10th novella in the 2017 1,001 Dark Nights lineup and holy moly, I can’t even tell you how much I lover Kyler and Bree’s story.

First, I’ve gotta start this review with a confession: I totally embarrassed myself on an airplane while reading this book.  True story. But I’ll get to that in a minute…

So we met Kyler briefly in a previous book and I knew there was something special about this guy and I knew when Tessa said she was writing him in this novella it was going to be damn special.  Well, it was.  All that and a bag of chips kind of special.  I love a good second chance romance and boy, was this a doozy!  These two characters are so incredible.  Their past and their present are both equally complicated and simple at the same time.  Complicated when you overthink all of the little things but simple when you focus on the one thing that matters most: their love for each other.  I totally got why Bree was afraid to leave the small town and her family.  I understood that she thought it was better to let Kyler go off and pursue his dreams alone.  My heart broke for her but I understood why she did it.  I also understood Kyler’s need to have her back and never being able to let go of their past.  She was too much a part of him…and vice versa.  What all of that leads to is an emotion and heat packed story that I devoured on my flight.  Oh yeah, getting back to that.  So, the ending of this book was so..damn…good. Like, have a good cry, keep reading through the good cry, get to the amazing turning point, put down your kindle, close your eyes, and fist pump in the air and say “YES!” in a sort of not quiet whisper…all of which I did on the airplane. While wearing headphones.  So I was probably a teeny bit louder than I should have been.  Oh well! That’s just what happens with a Tessa book!

Thank you, Tessa, for another ridiculously awesome book.  I loved Kyler and Bree so much!

Roommates With Benefits by Nicole Williams…Blog Tour & Review

goodreads-badge.png
AP new - synopsis.jpg
Soren Decker. He’s the epitome of the “bad boy, good man” persona. The best of both worlds. The worst of them too. He’s the type of guy most girls would not mind sharing a confined space with, except my new roommate isn’t all swagger and chiseled abs.

He’s bossy. Messy. Cocky. Infuriating. Doesn’t believe in personal space. Has no qualms about roaming the apartment with a loincloth-sized towel cinched around his waist. Seems under the delusion he’s my personal protector (refer back to infuriating). He plays college baseball and holds down a part-time job—I don’t know where he finds the time to get on my nerves.

We’re got nothing in common . . . except for one thing. Our attraction to one another. And in six hundred square feet of shared space, the tension only has so much room to grow before one of us gives in to temptation. But really, what chance do a couple of young kids chasing their dreams in the big city have of making it?

Since Soren claims I know squat about sports (he might have a semi-point), here’s a stat for him—one in a million. That’s our odds.
“Coming in,” I announced, opening the door and stepping inside. A plume of steam rolled over me, instantly coating my skin in a hot, dewy shield. “Hot shower?”
“Hell of a lot better than the cold one I took a couple of nights ago.”
His voice echoed off the walls as I focused on squeezing a glob of toothpaste onto my brush. It was difficult. I found myself quite distracted by the knowledge he was naked behind that thin shower curtain, a whole three feet away.
Just as I was about to stick my toothbrush into my mouth, the shower cranked off, the curtain whipping open right after.
Soren. Wet. Exposed.
Giant.
My eyes clamped shut, but it wasn’t fast enough. From the low chuckle he gave, he hadn’t missed my two-second gape.
“Soren!”
“Sorry. Water got cold.”
I gave him a few seconds to cover up before I opened my eyes and got back to brushing my teeth. He hadn’t covered up though.
“What are you doing? Grab a towel.” My arm flailed in the direction of where we kept our fresh towels hanging from the rack. My eyes felt like they were about to go crossed from staying focused on my reflection instead of his naked one in the same mirror.
“Out of fresh towels. Haven’t gotten around to the laundry.” He moved up beside me at the sink, reaching for his own toothbrush. He was standing so close, his wet arm was brushing against mine.
Don’t look down. Don’t look down. Don’t look at the giant—
Crap. I looked.
He was grinning at me as he brushed his teeth, my face crimson thanks to what I’d glanced at.
“See anything you like?”
My body was still buzzing from what I’d seen that I liked. I kind of hated him for calling me out on it though. I kind of even hated him for having so much to like.
“I know what you’re doing.” My eyebrow rounded as I got to work brushing my teeth too.
He spit in the sink, somehow winding up closer to me when he leaned back up. “Air drying?”
My eyes narrowed in the mirror at him. “Trying to change my mind.”
He stared back, brushing his teeth in all of his naked glory, a cocky tenor to his expression. Once he finished brushing, he rinsed his toothbrush and turned toward the door.
“I don’t need to change your mind,” he said, pausing when he was directly behind me.
When he turned, I swore I could feel his arms coming around me, pulling me into the shelter of his strong body. An involuntary shudder spilled down my back. He didn’t miss that either.
“I just need you to speak it instead of lying about it.” His eyes dropped to the back of my neck, where I knew he could see the raised flesh. I knew, because one side of his mouth lifted.
Bracing my hands on the sink, I didn’t blink as I locked eyes with him in the mirror. “It takes a lot more than washboard abs and a giant . . .” Crap. Something else. “Ego to get my attention.”
Soren leaned forward, his hands framing around the outsides of mine, his arms running the length of mine. His chest didn’t touch my back, but I could feel its expanse hovering above it. “I’ve already gotten your attention.” His eyes dropped from mine to my chest. Where it was rising and falling noticeably hard, my nipples pushing through my camisole. “I’m looking for something else.”
Another shudder, this one spilling down my legs. “What?”
His crooked smile changed into a cryptic one before he leaned back and opened the door. “You’ll see.”
“Soren—”
“Don’t worry. I’ll tell you when you give it to me.”
My fist curled around my toothbrush as I turned toward him. “I’m not giving you anything.”
“You’re giving me something right now.” He didn’t glance back before leaving the bathroom. Did he really need to have that nice of an ass when he already had a glorious package? I was screwed. “This point goes to Decker.”

Nicole really knows how to write a story that puts a huge smile on your face from start to finish. And this story did not go the way I had expected and that makes this book even better for me.

We’ve all read (or at least read reviews) of books about roommates and the unexpected hooking up between the two. Well this book didn’t exactly play out the way I had anticipated. Yes, the roommates became more, but it was how they got there that made this book stand out. Or and Soren – he is so not what I expected.

So the gist of the book – Hayden is moving from Nebraska to NYC for her modeling career. She responded to Soren’s ad for a roommate, in a particular, a female roommate. Hayden’s first lesson in a new city – ask questions before assuming anything. Soren is looking to become the biggest draft pick in baseball, so his life revolves around baseball, college and his part time job – so he doesn’t really have time for much else.

As I said, this story doesn’t play out anyway I expected and that really made this book all the more better, if that was possible. I won’t give any details on what happens or how, but I will say that you need to go into this book with an open mind and like Hayden, don’t make any assumptions on how things play out – cause you are probably wrong, like me.

Nicole wrote two very strong characters. Even though they are young and just starting out in the world, they both don’t act like young adults. They act mature and handle things with a level head. And that really added into how certain situations played out or how Soren or Hayden reacted to things.

Once again, Nicole has written a book that has me swooning for the male lead. Soren was nothing like I expected. He was such a gentleman and that really went a long way with Hayden and their relationship. Hayden annoyed me at times, but she also wised up and realized her actions were not very becoming of her and tried to correct herself and rectify the situation.

I definitely recommend adding this book to your TBR list for this summer. You will read it quite quickly because you’ll find yourself nearing the end before ever thinking of putting it down.

The Farthest Edge by Kristen Ashley….Release Day Review

Synopsis:

Step into the Honey Club, where every sensual boundary will be tested in search of the ultimate pleasure…

Branch doesn’t exist. Living off the grid, he’s looking for a way to forget his past and the guilt that plagues him. But no woman has ever been able to bring him to the edge he craves.

After a traumatic experience of her own, Evangeline stepped away from the decadent world of the Honey Club. But when she gets Branch’s offer—to play without boundaries or commitments—it’s too tempting for her to refuse.

As their passion ignites, Evangeline and Branch push each other to their farthest limit, fulfilling their darkest desires while falling harder and deeper than they ever imagined.

My Review:

The Farthest Edge is the second book in author Kristen Ashley’s The Honey Series and while I really enjoyed the first book, I gotta say I LOVED this book. From start to finish, Evangeline and Branch pulled me in and they held me close for the entire sexy and beautiful ride.  I just adored these two.

What do you get when you take a Domme trying to overcome one helluva obstacle after going through a helluva traumatic event at the one place being safe is held in the highest regard and put her together with a broken man of a Sub convinced he can never reach the sublime connection the right Domme can bring? And what do you get when those two are written by Kristen Ashley? I’ll tell you….you get pure magic.

Branch is literally a dead man walking.  He’s a ghost, a man dead to everyone he’s ever known, living in the shadows.  He’s done and seen things that a lesser man would never be able to handle.  But he owns his life and he knows who he is and what he needs.  He’s not shy about it and I love that about him.  He also has some of the biggest walls built up around him that I’ve ever seen, and rightfully so. He’s in search of something, someone, to give him what he needs.

Enter Evangeline.

Evangeline, the beautiful and strong Domme looking to overcome an event that haunts her to this day.  She’s taken a brief hiatus from the lifestyle she loves so much and is toying with the idea of going back when the opportunity to claim Branch presents himself.  It’s exactly what she needed.   He’s exactly what she needed.

Together Branch and Evangeline are spectacular. They complete one another in the most perfect of ways, both giving when the other is in need and both taking when it’s given. It’s a beautiful dance of learning each other in the most important of ways with trust, knowledge, kindness, and love.  Not only was the heat off the charts, but the emotion between these two is just beautiful.  Branch learning to navigate feelings he doesn’t want to have and Evangeline learning how to love a man like Branch….*dreamy sigh*.  Man, I just can’t get enough of them!

Kristen Ashley has once again outdone herself.  I know these characters will be staying with me for a long time.  Thank you, Ms. Ashley, for another phenomenal read.

About Kristen Ashley:

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing’s changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.
Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn’t be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he’s still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I’m trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.
Boy, was I wrong.
Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.
Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs.
But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.
Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he’s also my best friend’s ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that’s what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

I was so looking forward to Tucker’s book and Meghan did not disappoint me at all. I enjoyed this book so much more than Co-Wrecker.

Tucker is still reeling from losing Sadie and their baby. He’s threw himself into his work and every day is like Groundhog Day for him – work, go home, sleep, wake up, go to work. Sounds really exciting.

Emma is Sadie’s best friend and was a close friend to Tucker when he was with Sadie. After they split ways, Emma never really saw or spoke to Tucker since then. She is trying to finish her last year of nursing school and is in he last semester when she and her roommate are evicted from their place. She has one week to find another place or be homeless.

Yea, you see where this is going. For one odd night, Tucker happens to go out and drown out his sorrows at a bar, he runs into Emma. She later on becomes his roommate, a roommate with rules and boundaries – mostly all established from Tucker. And that’s where the real fun begins!!!

I loved watching these two infuse themselves into each other lives without realizing it. They were friends before so it’s a natural thing for them to fall into a natural routine and get alone easily, even some flirting. But there’s a huge elephant between them and that also happens to be one of the rules – no talking about Sadie.

I have to point out that I love how Meghan played out this scenario. There was no rush, no stripping of clothes, jumping each other bones and Tucker forgetting all about his problems. He knows that if he wants more with Emma, he needs to get himself in the right frame of mind. And I love that he think he does, and in certain ways he does, he just doesn’t realize that he’s sort of covering up the problem too and not fully dealing with it head on. And Emma – I love that she doesn’t just let him get away with teasing her and thinking it’s cool – she lets it be known what she wants.

I have to say that this book is the complete opposite when it comes to maturity of the characters from Co-Wrecker. Co-Wrecker was definitely more juvenile while this book held a lot more maturity from everyone. Granted, Tucker’s one friend Racer was the jokester of the group, he wasn’t childish in his actions – just a typical male goofball.

Loved this book – Tucker and Emma’s story was so much more than I anticipated and I really enjoyed reading the mix up between humor and the serious side in this book. A great blend of everything to make a great story!

Oh and, I am praying that Racer gets a book in the future. HINT! HINT! LOL

About the Author:

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.
Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.
Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Ben Lawson is making a comeback…

After a few tabloid headlines, they think they know me. They don’t know a damn thing.  As CEO of a movie production company, I’ll show them who I really am when we hit it big at the box office. My ex thought her smear tactics would ruin me, but I’m unbreakable. Rising from the debris, I swore I’d never let a woman distract me like that again. But then, my leading actress walked on the set and changed everything.

Seductive, sexy, and unapologetic, Aria Rose could break me. I wanted to help her, protect her…love her. Instead, I destroyed her.

Aria Rose is baring it all….

I knew better.  I knew not to trust another Hollywood heartthrob with a reputation like his. He was my boss and became my ruin. I should have stayed far away from him. Ben Lawson promised me the world.  He even promised me his heart.

But he destroyed everything–my heart, my career, us.

WOW!! This book was so much more than I expected. This book is so much more than the cover. The underlying message Sarah sends is one we all need to be reminded of daily. We are more than what you see. Words hurt – stand up for one another instead of shaming each other.

I can’t express how much I truly loved this book. Not just the message behind the story, but the story itself. Sarah wrote two very strong characters who fell for each other immediately. And let me tell you, insta-love stories are a hard sell for me. If the story is not written the correct way, I won’t even finish the book. But that definitely is not the case with Nudes.

I won’t go into the details of this because it’s a story you want to experience first hand. Aria is an upcoming actress with her first leading roll. She won’t allow anything to happen that will make it seem like she didn’t earn the lead roll all on her own accord. She’s focused on her craft and doesn’t want anyone or anything getting in her way. She’s got a great family behind her and even some awesome friends in this business helping her move up in the world.

Ben is trying to make a comeback after his ugly divorce. He refuses to date another actress or any other woman distract him in this business. But when he meets Aria, nothing can stop him from going after her. No matter what he tells himself or what she says – the chemistry can’t be denied. And after a “free agents” weekend, it only seems as though they have added more fuel to the flames burning between them. But it’s not easy to keep things a secret in Hollywood – everyone is out for themselves and they don’t care who takes the fall, as long as they come out on top.

I couldn’t put this book down once I started reading it. I devoured this book within hours. Sarah tells a very compelling and real story that you can so easily believe would happen in Hollywood (even if hasn’t already). I loved these characters strength and how they were so resilient, when many would run and hide, lick their wounds. And the message behind it all – so powerful and I love how Sarah delivered it.

If you don’t have this book on your TBR list, you definitely need to. This is a book you don’t want to be left out on.

Excerpt

“Aria?” A deep voice cut through the crisp nighttime air.

She turned to see Ben approaching her, the shadows from the upper deck of the yacht moving across his face as he came closer. “Oh. Hi, Mr. Lawson.”

“Please, like I said, call me Ben,” he reiterated, leaning against the railing next to her.

“Right. Ben. Sorry, the last exec wasn’t quite so…”

His lips curved into a smile. “So, what?”

She wasn’t sure what to say, because her honest answer was sexy. That didn’t seem like the best thing to a man who now funded and controlled her film. “Approachable?”

Ben laughed—a deep chuckle that she felt vibrate through her bones. “I hope that’s a good thing.”

“It definitely is,” she assured him, placing a hand on his arm. The moment she touched him, she pulled back, immediately embarrassed.

He. Is. My. Boss. Get it together, Aria.

He didn’t chide her, or look uncomfortable, which she took as a good sign.

Aria returned to her original position beside him, and they stared out at the darkened water lapping the sides of all the boats docked around.

“Want to hear something funny?” Aria finally broke the silence, but kept her voice low. So low, he had to lean in to hear her.

“Tell me.”

“My parents met in this very marina. She was a caterer and he was a deckhand—still teenagers. Barely old enough to know who they were, let alone what they wanted out of life. Still, they knew what love was when they stumbled upon it, and they knew enough to never let go.” Aria’s heart beat a little faster, warming at the memories.

“Wow. Are they still together?”

Aria nodded. “Barely spent a day apart since. My mother is actually my manager, and she works insanely hard for me, but my father always comes first. He’s the love of her life.”

“Love like that is special. Rare.”

“Is it?” Aria tilted her head to the side. “I’m not sure it’s as rare as it is a choice, a commitment, and the strength to follow through each and every day. There were times they could have given up—maybe lived an easier life with someone else—but they made a decision that this was the love they wanted, this was the life they wanted, and in that choice comes a confidence, a happiness, that most people deny themselves.”

Ben was quiet for a minute. Finally, he inhaled loudly, then blew it out in one long breath. “That’s really beautiful, Aria. Hits a bit close to home, I have to admit.”

“I’m sorry.” Aria frowned, turning to face him and just leaving one elbow on the railing. “I didn’t mean—”

He shook his head. “No, it’s fine. I just finished going through a divorce about six months ago, though we’d separated the year before that. I think you’re right—love is a choice. Making love work is a choice. And yet…if it’s not with the right person, then it’s the wrong choice.”

“Soul mates.” Aria raised one brow. “You believe in that?”

Ben stared at her for a moment…a long moment. The kind of moment that made her shift her weight from one leg to the other, her skin heating under his gaze. “Yes. I believe in soul mates.”

She tilted her chin up ever so slightly, going for lightheartedness. “Well, we all have our flaws. You couldn’t be entirely perfect.”

Ben laughed again. “Believing in soul mates is a flaw?”

“Buying what you’re selling is definitely a flaw. You’re a movie producer, so you sell fantasy to the world.”

“I think we can have the fantasy.” His eyes danced, but his smile was gone. “Don’t you want the fantasy?”

Aria turned back to the ocean, looking out at the waves. This was too much, too real, too soon with a man she barely knew. A man who was pretty much her boss. “Who wouldn’t want the fantasy?” she said dismissively. “Some would say I’m already living it.”

“That’s certainly true. Everyone on this yacht, everyone in this city…Hollywood. It’s all a fantasy of some sort.” Something in his tone sounded so…sad? A small ache pulled at her heart, and she felt like they’d opened the door to something different. Something different than studio exec and actress. Something more than strangers who just met today.

Her humanity connected to his, and they were just two people standing on a boat wishing it could float them away from their picture-perfect lives.

“Do you know why I love Scarlet’s Letters?” she said softly, her voice barely above the whistle of the wind around them.

He stepped closer, his elbow pressed against hers on the railing now. “Why?”

“It’s something I can be proud of. A story I’m proud to tell. The strength of a woman in wartime, a French woman saving innocent people during the Holocaust…a woman picking her truth over a man, over love. Have you read the script?”

Ben nodded. “I have. Two years ago, when it was making the rounds. It’s powerful, and from what I’ve seen, you do an amazing job in it.”

“Thank you. When I first saw this script—or rather, read the book it’s based on—I knew I had to play this part. No matter what I had to give up. This was mine.”

She’d never connected to anything more than she had this script. It was empowering, and taught courage in the toughest of circumstances. It was a tiny snapshot of a much larger scale event, showing the decisions and atrocities suffered at such a human, personal level. It was a woman denying her own privilege and luxury to help fellow humans who didn’t have that reach.

“The way you talk about it…I’m jealous,” Ben admitted.

That got Aria’s attention, and she turned to face him. “Jealous? Of what?”

He pushed off the railing, looking up at the stars before settling on her gaze. “Passion. Excitement. Purpose. You know what you want. You know who you are and what your goals are.”

“And you don’t?” He had to be nearly thirty, if not over. Striking and fresh faced, but his features still said experience. Aria was only in her twenties, but at times she felt decades older.

Ben shook his head. “I thought I did. I built a life. Got married. Worked my way up in Maguire Industries. Everything was mapped out. Everything was…easy.”

The ache from earlier was back, the sadness in his voice. Aria placed her hand on his forearm, a comforting gesture. Partly for him, but mostly for her. She needed a physical connection when they were connecting on so much more.

“What happened?” she pried, squeezing his arm ever so slightly.

Ben looked down at her hand, his eyes lingering. He didn’t move or pull away, and when he lifted his head to face her again, there was a need in his eyes that made her insides heat. “The woman I trusted with all my secrets? She sold them to the highest bidder the moment I wasn’t able to be a stepping stone for her career.”

Aria didn’t reply, sensing there was more.

“She used every connection she had to get me blacklisted. Took everything. Now Maguire Industries acquired Shepherd Films, expecting me to fail. Pushing me out.”

“Not many would call being the CEO of a film studio a demotion,” Aria pointed out.

“When you’re used to being the landscaper, it’s hard to become the rose.”

Aria laughed, letting go of his arm. “First, soul mates. Now, roses. You’re a poetic man, Ben Lawson. A true romantic.”

Suddenly, his fingers intertwined with hers, pulling her to him. Pressing her body to his, chest to chest, heartbeat to heartbeat. His eyes never left hers, and she watched him wrestle with something…doubt, uncertainty. As if he didn’t know why he’d just hugged her to him, but then need. Pure need darkened his eyes as something deeper pushed the rest away.

Her breath was lost as she concentrated on standing, her knees already threatening to buckle. She’d taken every second of the journey with him, and now she wanted more. Something about the way he smelled ignited every nerve ending in her body. The way he held her, one arm wrapped around her back, was so secure, so comfortable, so protective, so intimately. No one had ever held her like that in her entire life.

She didn’t want him to let go.

He was fire. She wanted to leap into his flames.

“And what are you, Aria Rose?” Ben’s fingers tipped her chin upward, her eyes finding his. “Who are you?”

The words rumbled in his chest, vibrating against him as he spoke. There was a genuineness to it that terrified her, unnerved her, and completely overwhelmed her. Their souls were laid bare and he was asking for more.

A perfect stranger. A moment of truth. An absolute mistake.

She couldn’t do it. Her walls shot up and she let go of him, fear coursing through her. “I’m an actress, Mr. Lawson. Just an actress.”

And just so much more.

Her kiss becomes my air. Her body my salvation.
She needed a savior and somehow she became mine.
Taking her was a betrayal. But keeping her means risking everything.
One look at Alexis Kensington, and I know she’s worth the fight.
Will my past continue to keep me down or will I finally find the strength to pull myself up and Stand

This is Amy at her finest and best yet!! This book wrecked me completely. Emotions everywhere and kept me on edge the whole time. WOW!! The best book to end one hell of an amazing series.

I have been waiting to read Zee’s book for quite some time and Amy gave us more than what I had anticipated. Zee stepped up to take his brother’s place as Sunder’s drummer when he passed away seven years ago. The men of Sunder took him in like he always belonged but Zee always kept himself tucked away in the shadows, keeping the bang together. Zee has carried the pain of losing his brother with him for all these years and he’s also kept one of the biggest secrets from everyone, til one girl threatens it all.

Alexis – I love her. She is one the most delicate yet strong heroines I have read in awhile. She too is like Zee, selfless in her giving and always looking out for others in her life. Zee become Alexis’ protector and she becomes Zee’s angel, his light. As much as he knows he can’t have her, he can’t stay away from her.

” ‘Fall with me,’ I whispsered.

He leaned down, lips just brushing mine, and Zachary Kennedy murmured his truth.

‘I already jumped.’ “

Amy wrote one of the most heart-breaking and beautiful stories with these two. Everything they go through, it crushed me. My heart hurt for them both. I was a bawling mess the last 40% of this book. The buildup and the crescendo of this story just pulverized me and had me reeling me with some many emotions. Zee and Alexis’ love story is one that will stay with me for quite some time.

“No fear. Just life.”

This quote is one that I will never forget (and more than likely will be tattooed on some part of my body at some point). It rings throughout this book and trust me when I say, it will become a quote that will stick with you.

So if you have not realized, this series is amazing. And if you have not read any of these books yet, you need to NOW!! And you can read this one as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading them in order. You won’t feel confused reading out of order, but you will feel the story so much deeper when reading them in order.

Amy’s writing is like no other. I feel her words. I become so entranced by the story, I never want it to end. These characters – they have become family to me. They feel real to me. These men and their wives and kids have a special place in my heart.

This series is what got me hooked on rockstar romances. I actually cried when the book was over – it was like saying goodbye to my family. I started this series in the middle and I immediately got swept up in it’s chaos and beauty. This series is one of my top faves and is my top rockstar romance. I am sad to see the journey of Sunder come to an end but it was worth every damn word I read. And will gladly re-read again and again.

Plus One by Aleatha Romig…Release Day Blitz & Review

ARPlusOneBookCover6x9_MEDIUM

A fun, sexy new stand-alone from New York Times bestselling author Aleatha Romig.

He’s sexy and confident, the kind of man every woman notices. You know, the one with the to-die-for body and panty-melting smirk. And then there’s the way his designer suits drape over his broad shoulders and big…well, we’ve all heard the rumors, the ones that say he’s up for any challenge.

But I can’t see him that way. He’s my boss—technically one of the owners of the company where I work—and definitely not in my league. Men like him don’t notice women like me, and they don’t date them.

And I don’t date men like him.

Until that one time that I catch him in a compromising position when I’m also in need of a last-minute date for a wedding…and then it’s not real. It’s blackmail.

For one weekend, he’s my plus-one.

Beautiful and unobtainable.

From the moment she walked into my office with those stunning blue eyes and crazy sensual curves, she’s been on my mind. Three years and never once has she acted interested in me. Usually I flash a million-dollar smile and women fall to their knees, some literally.

Not her.

Then on the occasion that I agree to let another woman do that—fall to her knees—guess who happens to catch us?

It may not be the most conventional way to get on her radar, but I didn’t get this far in business without knowing when to seize an opportunity. If this sexy little firecracker with perfectly kissable lips thinks she can blackmail me into attending her cousin’s wedding, I’m going to jump at the chance to be her plus-one.

You love her darker side. Now it’s time to meet Leatha, the lighter side of Aleatha, as she trades her renowned twists and turns for laughs and love with this sexy new stand-alone romance, PLUS ONE.

I’m in an alternate universe and it’s every fantasy I never knew I had.
What CEO of a billion-dollar company dreams of enjoying a farm in the middle of nowhere? Who imagines waking in a small bedroom, complete with a canopy bed and sunshine streaming through pink curtains, as birds sing? What owner of a 7,000-square-foot penthouse with a to-die-for view of the Empire State Building enjoys the hominess of a hundred-year-old, 3,000-square-foot farmhouse with a wraparound porch, creaky floors, and a view of cornfields?
Sitting with a cup of steaming black coffee, I listen as Kimbra and her brother Kevin bicker back and forth while helping their mother in the large eat-in kitchen. The warm spring air is filled with the sizzle of frying as the aroma of coffee, eggs, and bacon reminds me of some of the best diners in New York.
Although Kimbra’s dad, Oscar, is talking, I can’t concentrate on anything but Kimbra—Kimberly Ann. That’s what everyone here calls her.
“Because of you, I’m out ten bucks.” Kevin says, not doing a good job of whispering.
“Me?” Kimbra asks. “What did I do?”
Kevin tilts his head my way. “You brought a real guy here. I put money on him being made up.”
Kimbra reaches out and punches his shoulder.
He lifts his hands in surrender. “No. Listen. I was sure it was a good bet. When Mom said your boyfriend’s name wasn’t Timothy, but Duncan, and you didn’t want him in the wedding, Susan and I figured he wasn’t real. I bet Jimmy ten bucks this fake Duncan guy would be a no-show. Susan and I were sure that before last night, you’d have some reason why at the last minute he couldn’t attend. You know, like you’d make up some accident or something.”
Her brother is about as good at speaking softly as he is at being nice to his sister.
“Shut up!” Kimbra whispers back. “Obviously he’s real.”
Kevin’s head falls back in laughter. “He’s real, all right. Last night I thought your old bed was going to collapse.”
Kimbra’s eyes flash to me. And though I look down at my coffee and pray her dad isn’t listening, the gleam in her expression makes my cock twitch with the memories of the night before.

So we all know (well a lot of us know) that Aleatha is known for her darker and more suspenseful books. So she gave the lighter and fluffier said a go and WOW – smacked this one right out of the park. I really wonder if there is anything that Aleatha can’t write exceptionally well.

Plus One had me smiling and laughing through this whole book. I loved every single bit of this book and these characters. From Duncan and Kimbra, to each of their best friends, Mike and Shana to both their families. I love them all!!!

Kimbra is an HR representative at a pharmaceutical logistics company that Duncan is part owner of. They are both aware of who each other is but have never really spoken outside the office over business dealings. So when the whole blackmailing situation arises, they are both in for a surprise. Not only does he have to be her plus one at a family wedding, they need to prove that they have been together for quite some time – GAME ON!!

Aleatha let this whole story play out beautifully. I love Kimbra’s family – Grandma Helen won me over quickly. She is a hoot and I think we all need a Grandma Helen in our lives. The rest of her family adds their own flare to the story and Duncan warms up to them all easily. Shana, Kimbra’s best friend and roommate – I love her. She has made me view cannoli in a whole new light. HA!

Regardless if you have read any of Aleatha;s writing before or not, this book proves why she is one hell of a talented writer. She writes memorable characters and fantastic plot lines that will keep you glued to the pages til the very end. Another smashing hit for Aleatha!

My Review:

Ride Rough is the newest installment in Laura Kaye’s Raven Riders Series and the range of emotion I felt while reading Maverick and Alexa’s story was off the charts.  I loved every second of it!

Maverick, like any of the Raven Riders crew, is loyal, tough, has a soft side, and won’t stand by when someone is being treated poorly….especially the love of his life.  It didn’t make a difference that she was engaged to someone else now, he wasn’t going to let her continue to be treated like dirt by the man who supposedly loved her…and boy oh boy did I love him for it! His tough exterior with his soft interior had me swooning like a loon. He knew from the very beginning he had his work cut out for him when it came to Alexa and her current situation and did he ever.  Lucky for Alexa, Mav was always up for a challenge! I loved Alexa just as much.  Sure she was in a bit of a mess but deep down she knew the life she was living wasn’t a good one.  She knew deep down she wasn’t safe in her relationship and even though she tried to deny it, I admire her for coming to terms with it. Together they can navigate any storm headed their way and I loved them together!

I also loved getting to see more of the Raven Riders/Hard Ink family.  These books have some of the most memorable characters I’ve read and being able to catch up with some of the old crew, as well as getting to know the new crew is such a freaking treat.

Thank you, Ms. Kaye, for another amazing story!  I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Five Loves

RIDE ROUGH by Laura Kaye – EXCERPT – Just this once

“I want you. Feels like I’ve been wanting you my whole life.” Alexa peered up at him, her eyes so vibrant they were nearly green.

Maverick pulled back, her words hitting him in all kinds of places, some comfortable, some even healing, but some less so. “You can’t toy with me, Alexa. Not when I’ve wanted you for so long. Not when I never wanted to let you go in the first place. This . . . this can just be fucking. But don’t you dare say anything you don’t mean.”

She stroked his hair. “Truth?”

He gave a tight nod and prepared for the worst, even as he hoped for a shot.

“Truth is, I don’t know what this means. Yet. I am so messed up right now. I’m not even going to hide that. But . . .” She tilted her head, and her expression was filled with something Mav didn’t want to name, but it sure as hell looked like affection. “But I know I want this. I want you, Maverick. Right now. And wanting you feels like one of the smartest decisions I’ve made in forever. Everything else be damned.” Her voice was shaky and breathy and her words were so full of dangerous, dangerous hope that Maverick didn’t dare move.

His muscles nearly shook with the force of his restraint, because his body was literally screaming at him. Screaming at him to just let go. “Fuck, Alexa.”

“I don’t want to hurt you. I never wanted to hurt you. But I want you. I want you inside me right now more than I want my next breath.”

Even though his mind was rolling out a list of all the reasons why this was a no good what the fuck are you thinking very bad idea, Maverick’s body grabbed the reins. On a groan, he went in for a kiss, rougher than he intended, but the moan she unleashed when his mouth crashed down on hers told him she didn’t mind. They fumbled with clothes. Her boxers. His jeans. Until they were both naked and pressed tight, all hot skin on skin, and his cock ground against her soft folds until she was mewling and writhing and silently pleading with the rough, desperate grip of her hands on his shoulders, his back, his ass.

A big part of Maverick wanted to pick Alexa up and carry her to his bed—where his heart said she belonged—but this wasn’t about that. At least not yet, and he wasn’t giving either of them any more time to think than he already had.

He needed her too damn bad. Just this once. In case that’s all it was.

Too Hard to Forget by Tessa Bailey…Jillian’s Review In Short

Synopsis:

This time, she’s calling the shots.

Peggy Clarkson is returning to her alma mater with one goal in mind: confront Elliott Brooks, the man who ruined her for all others, and remind him of what he’s been missing. Even after three years, seeing him again is like a punch in the gut, but Peggy’s determined to stick to her plan. Maybe then, once she has the upper hand, she’ll finally be able to move on.

In the years since Peggy left Cincinnati, Elliott has kept his focus on football. No distractions and no complications. But when Peggy walks back onto his practice field and into his life, he knows she could unravel everything in his carefully controlled world. Because the girl who was hard to forget is now a woman impossible to resist.

My Review in Short:

So a new little ditty I’m trying out…a review in short! I know we all are limited on time so rather than me blathering on and on, I figured a few sentences would be perfect! Here goes…

What’s not to love about a second chance romance, especially when written by Tessa Bailey?  Elliott and Peggy have an intense past that ended way too soon, leaving more than a few things and plenty of feelings left hanging in the balance.  Neither one of them are able to forget the other, and with flashbacks to some of their most heated moments, it’s no wonder why! Their road back to each other was a total doozy and the emotions ran high while I was reading.  I simply loved these two and wanted them to get back together with a panicked desperation! Not to worry…it all ends out exactly as I had hoped *swoon*

Tessa shines once again when her dirty talking alpha male hero not only has to make up for his flawed past moments with Peggy, but also has to win her back and a place in her future.  There were two incredible moments int his book that I can’t wait for you all to read….the nail polish and the speech at the end.  Grab your tissues, ladies and gents, Elliott will have you crying happy tears!

Thank you, Tessa, for another sexy and kick ass read!  I will never ever get enough of your dirty talking men and the gals (and guys) who love them! (oh yeah, and thanks for being my first review in short! xo)

About the author:

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans, and laptop, and drove cross-country to New York City in under four days. Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend, and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband and daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
