The Wildes of Lindow Castle series by Eloisa James…Review

.

Series Synopsis:

.
The Wildes of Lindow Castle follows the large, eccentric family of the Duke of Lindow, who live in a castle on the edge of a sprawling bog. You might think of the series as a cross between Modern Family and Downton Abbey. It’s set in the Georgian period, when people wore big wigs and bigger skirts. England at this time saw the first real true blossoming of celebrity culture, driven largely by the printing press. Etchings of the Wildes travel throughout England on tinkers’ carts, and are collected by everyone from dairymaids to duchesses.
.

My Review:

.
Eloisa James’s latest historical series, The Wildes of Lindow Castle, is absolutely her best work to date. It’s swept readers by storm and become a huge hit in its first three installments—Wilde in Love, Too Wilde to Wed, and Born to Be Wilde. Thankfully, the Wilde clan is a large one and, lucky for us, there are more and more stories to come!
.
Each novel so far is rich is historical detail, such as the adventurer hero Alaric in Wilde in Love, almost the modern-day equivalent of a comic book superhero; the very real repercussions of the effects of war on Too Wilde to Wed’s hero, North (maybe the hottest, most selfless one of all); and the all-too-sobering laudanam addiction of heroine Lavinia’s mother in Born to Be Wilde. There’s the mystery of a mad villain, a celebrity hero, a mixed-race hero, a bookish heroine, a runaway bride turned governness and an heiress turned empowered businesswoman, castles, and an actual deadly bog, whoa. Plus an offspring of siblings all named after ancient mythical and real heroes. There’s reunited lovers and enemies-to-lovers, and this series is sizzling hot, my favorite quality of an historical romance!
.
It’s impossible to pick a favorite, as each story is so uniquely and richly drawn, and Wilde in Love sets a brilliant stage with a beloved cast of characters. But both Too Wilde to Wed and Born to Be Wilde in particular find the series’ stride and are one wild ride from start to finish. In Too Wilde to Wed, when North’s heroine, Diana, virtually leaves him at the altar—and he later finds her in the role of governness at his family estate, with a young child in her care—he doesn’t really know what to think. What he does know is that for both of them, their reputations are in tatters, and it seems the only way to repair it—and what North has really wanted all along—is for them to wade the waters together, and he’s fiercely determined to win her back. Their story is emotional and heart-wrenching and comes full circle in the way a proper love story should.
.
When it comes to Lavinia and Parth in Born to Be Wilde, not only do they hate each other—with the antagonism building to a delicious fever pitch by their book—but thrown together relentlessly, Parth finds himself in the hilarious role of matchmaker when heiress Lavinia’s fortune is in pieces and time is running out to make an advantageous marriage, as one does, though his feelings are really more of the “if I can’t have her, no one can” variety. But it’s a not-so-slow descent into head-over-heels for them both, and fortunately, after all this time, neither of them are putting on too many airs.
.
A truly great historical, not to mention a whole series, is the best kind of find. And I will follow this one to the very end, which is hopefully many books away. With all the most loved tropes, perfect pairings, crazy family, and all of the exceptional details and real tragedies of life, The Wildes of Lindow Castle is at the top of the historical game.
.

In a world where I had no say, violence became my refuge, and nothing else mattered.
Not even my own life.
Until her.
Skyler Bell.
It all started the first time I heard that voice. Giving me hope for tomorrow. My first love was everything all at once.
Consuming.
Maddening.
Forever.
Mine.
Except, I never imagined there were secrets that needed to be shared. Lies that needed to be confessed. Truths that needed to be told.
Demons that needed to be buried.
Once I realized the depth, the longing, the sadness and sorrow in her eyes mirrored mine, it was too late. Love didn’t come to me as heartbreak, it came as everything I’ve ever wanted. Walking away wasn’t an option, but it was the only choice I had.

I finally found the price of love and it cost me…
My soul.

My body molded perfectly against his like I was made just for him, only him. It was the most overwhelming, mind blowing, consuming feeling I’d ever felt in my entire life. There would be no coming back from this.
From him.
From us.
Ruining me for any other guy. He slowly parted his lips, beckoning me to do the
same. I followed his lead, imitating the same rhythm he set. His tongue traced
my swollen lips, and it left the craziest sensation in its wake. A tingly fire
that only he could put out. I’d never be able to lick my lips and not think of
this very moment. It would be lodged next to my heart where he belonged.
I pulled back my tongue, and he took it as an open invitation to gently push
his into my awaiting mouth. Seeking mine out, turning this kiss into something more than I could have ever imagined it could be.
No words came close to describing what was happening between us. The feelings he stirred deep within my mind, my soul, matching my emotions with each stroke of his tongue and lips. This push and pull was as uncontrollable as where fate
wanted to take us. I never wanted him to stop kissing me.
Not for a second.
A year.
A lifetime.
Noah’s lips were meant to be on mine. My body was meant to be beneath his. Our hearts were meant to be together.
I was his girl.
I had always been his girl.

M. Robinson is back at it again – giving us all the feels and emotional whiplash you can endure in one book. I love it!!

Lost Boy is a standalone spinoff from her other series but you in no way need to read anything else to know what is going on in this book. In fact, I think new readers will enjoy this book even more. Noah’s book is one I have been waiting for, for what seems likes ages and she does not disappoint us.

I won’t give any crucial details of this book because even a small part might be giving too much away. Noah and Skyler are a hot mess together and separately. These two will give you so much whiplash, you will want to reach into your kindle and slap them around a few times. And it’s not in an irritating way either – they just infuriate with you their pushing and pulling and wanting to protect each other from their personal demons.

But along with their push and pull, these two are HOT AS FUCK!!! They not only have explosive personalities, but these two are hot between the sheets (even when they aren’t physical). Let me tell you – Monica delivers some dynamic chemistry with these two not just in the physical aspect, but in the mental and spiritual part.

Monica really knows how to deliver us a story that is nail biting, exhausting but damn exhilarating. I loved every bit of this book. I couldn’t read it fast enough and I never wanted it to end. Prepare yourself for a wild ride.

Blood Cure by K.A. Linde….Release Day Blitz & Review

The stunning conclusion to the Blood Type series finds the world in chaos and turmoil with one final battle left to determine who will survive—humans or vampires.

She had the world on her shoulders. Now she has nothing.

Reyna Carpenter was twenty-one when she became a live-in blood escort for the ruthless and darkly handsome vampire Beckham Anderson. She thought this was just a small price to pay for feeding her brothers back home.

But nothing went as planned. Not even her tumultuous relationship with Beckham. And now she wonders if anything will ever be the same again.

As she finds herself in the midst of a losing rebellion, she and her trusted friends must flee from a city conquered by the vampire elite. With their plans blown to pieces and everything they knew and loved gone, their future hangs in the balance.

Despite all she has lost, Reyna must rise from the ashes, reclaim the life that was stolen—and complete her mission, once and for all.

Linde’s Blood Type series is definitely one of my favorite PNR reads to date. Blood Cure is the finale to this series and all books MUST be read in order.

Linde ended this series perfectly. After we received that soul shattering cliff hanger in book two, I was not sure where this story would take us. And I won’t tell you anything that happens either – one tiny detail would be like giving too much away.

Reyna and Beckham truly grow in this book. Not just together, but individually. Reyna shows her true calling and steps up when she is needed most. But the relationship between Beckham and Reyna is truly remarkable – individually they are tough and strong, but together, they are indestructible.

“He was the king of his people and she was the queen of hers.”

I loved all the aspects of this book – the romance, the suspense and the whole take on paranormal. Linde definitely stands out with this series. Each book is great and she wraps is up perfectly with Blood Cure.

A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.

As the provocative, sensual Blood Type series continues, the rare bond between Reyna and Beckham is threatened by betrayal, greed, and twisted secrets.

A desperate human. A powerful vampire. A world divided.

Reyna Carpenter was promised paradise. She was delivered into hell.

Giving up her body for money was supposed to be the hardest part of becoming a blood escort. She never expected to lose her heart to her dark, enigmatic boss, Beckham Anderson. After being taken by a depraved captor who plans to rule the world, Reyna will do anything to return to Beckham.

She just has to find the will to survive this game.

From the pawn, rises a queen.

Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story begins in Blood Type and continues in Blood Cure.

About AS DUST DANCES:

Once upon a time Skylar Finch was the lead singer of a hugely successful American pop-rock band. But fame made her miserable. When years of living a lie suddenly ended in tragedy, Skylar fell off the map.

Eighteen months later she’s sleeping in a tent in a cemetery in Glasgow, making just enough money to eat by busking on the streets. She manages to avoid recognition, but not the attention of one of Glasgow’s ambitious A&R executives.

Killian O’Dea works at Skyscraper Records, Scotland’s most successful record label. Raised by his uncle and owner of the label, Killian’s upbringing would have been devoid of affection entirely if it wasn’t for his loving sister. Killian is unflinchingly determined to bring the label more success than ever, and the young homeless woman who busks on Buchanan Street is going to help him do that. Her music speaks to him in a way he refuses to over-analyze. All he knows is that if it can touch his dark soul, it’ll set everyone else’s alight.

Skylar makes it clear that she doesn’t want to sign with him. But when she experiences the dangerous reality of a woman sleeping rough, Skylar has no one else but Killian to turn to. An undeniable connection forms between them. But Skylar doesn’t want the career Killian is trying to forge for her, and when her past comes back to haunt her Killian will be faced with a decision that could ruin him. He must either free Skylar from his selfish machinations and destroy everything he’s ever worked for, or lose a woman who has come to mean more to him than he ever thought possible…

Can I just have my review say “EVERYONE MUST READ SAMANTHA YOUNG!!!!”, can I??

Samantha Young has magical fingers because her writing is captivating and her characters are so genuine and real – it’s impossible to not lose yourself in her stories.

As Dust Dances is another emotional read from Samantha. Skylar and Killian’s journey to their HEA is one wrought with many ups and downs due to so many things, including themselves. Skylar is a survivor through it and with Killian’s forwardness and no-holds bar attitude, these two cause of lots of sparks together. They both push and pull one another – slowly cracking down each other’s walls.

I won’t say anything else because watching these two together is just magic – there is no other word for it. There is a lot of fighting, jabs thrown at one another, just flat out hate to love. And to see it play out before your eyes (Samantha’s words come alive) – it’s the tension and emotion we all love to get caught up in.

I loved every emotion Samantha pulled out of me. I love when I get so involved in these characters, I want to smack them around, rattle their brains and then squeeze them when they finally get their shit together. LOL

Once again – Samantha has given us another amazing romance. This can be read as a standalone – so dive right on in!!

My wrist protested as I pulled my sweater over my head. I was just reaching for Killian’s tee when his office door opened. “Are you read—”
We both froze.
Me in my bra and jeans.
His lips parted, not even hiding that he was taking in every inch of me. I flushed all over.
Killian cursed under his breath and then slammed his office door shut so no one would see me from the hall while finally turning his back to me. He sounded hoarse when he spoke. “Sorry. I thought you’d be dressed by now.”
“My wrist was hurting,” I lied. “I needed a minute.”
That was all it took to make him move. Suddenly he was in front of me, grabbing the tee out of my hands. “What are you doing?” I tried to cover myself.
Killian gave me an impatient look. “It’s not anything I haven’t seen before. Lift your arms.”
“I can put the tee on myself.”
“The longer you argue, the longer I see you half-naked. I’m a man who appreciates the female form, so I don’t mind. I can do this all day.”
Grunting, I lifted my arms, my annoyance with him lessening as he carefully pulled it down over my head and then gently placed my arms through the short sleeves. He shrugged it down slowly, as if savoring those moments of naked skin.
My breath caught as his fingers brushed the sides of my breasts and my eyes flew to his as he pulled the T-shirt down excruciatingly slowly, caressing my skin with it. Those dark eyes smoldered.
Then somehow, we were standing closer, our bodies almost touching. Excitement tingled between my legs and I felt my nipples peak against the fabric of my bra.
A flush crested Killian’s cheeks and his chest rose and fell in shallow breaths.
I forgot everything.
Where I was.
Who I was.
Who he was.
All I could think about was the way my skin prickled to electrified life under his touch. I wanted him to kiss me. I wanted him to push me up against his desk, rip my jeans off, and thrust into me.
My breath shuddered at the thought and Killian’s eyes blazed even hotter, as if he’d been able to read my mind.
“Sir, Mr. Byrne would like to speak with you!” Eve’s voice called through the door and shattered the moment.
Killian stumbled back. His hands dropped from my waist, allowing the T-shirt to fall.
I tried to catch my breath as he whirled away from me. “Just … Just a second,” he called back.
“Killian …”
He glanced over his shoulder at me, his expression unreadable. “I’m Killian again?”
Confused, I blinked. “What?”
Exhaling heavily, he shook his head. “Nothing.” Then his nostrils flared as he stared at me. I glanced down at myself. His T-shirt drowned me. It also smelled of him, which was very bad because I really needed to stop thinking of Killian and sex in the same sentence, and wearing his scent was not helping. “I look ridiculous.” But I didn’t think Killian thought I looked ridiculous at all.

Richer Than Sin by Meghan March….Release Day Blitz & Review

From New York Times bestselling author Meghan March comes a brand new saga of forbidden love and second chances.

A Riscoff and a Gable can never live happily ever after. Our family feud is the stuff of legends.

Ten years ago, Whitney Gable caught me off guard with her long legs and grab-you-by-the-balls blue eyes.

I didn’t know or care what her name was.

Like any Riscoff worth the family name, I went after what I wanted. We burned like a flash fire until she married another man.

She hates me, and she should.

I objected on her wedding day.

Now she’s home, with those same long legs and man-eater stare, but there’s no ring on her finger.

They say a Riscoff and a Gable can never live happily ever after . . . but I’m not done with Whitney Gable.

I’ll never be done with her.

Meghan has done it again!! Not that I am surprised as her last two trilogy sets were amazing. Richer Than Sin starts this trilogy off with a bang and I am so excited to see how this story plays out.

I won’t give away any details as these stories need to be read without any info known to truly enjoy them. Meghan knows how to give us just the perfect amount of information to suck us in and keep us glued to the pages. And her characters are always written so well that you feel for them.

Richer Than Sin has this vibe of Dallas and Dynasty with the rich heirs and the family feuds. Lincoln and Whitney has a chance meeting without knowing who the other is and sparks fly. And sparks fly even more when they discover who each other is. Yea – just go read this one.

This trilogy is different than her last two in that the hero knows he wants the heroine. And the heroine wants the hero but there are too many obstacles in their way for it ever work out. The drama, angst, suspense, tension and sexual hype is perfection this book. Meghan blends this story perfectly with everything and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book.

Guilty until proven innocent.

That’s the way the world works, right?

I’m tired of being convicted without evidence, all because my last name is Gable.

The Riscoffs might own this town, but I’m done following their rules.

If only I could forget just how easily Lincoln Riscoff can drag me under his spell.

Whitney Gable is the kind of woman you fight to the death to protect.

To keep.

To cherish.

I’ve finally learned my lesson, and it’s time to prove I’m the man who’s worthy of her.

I don’t care what it takes, because failure is not an option.

No matter who or what stands in our way—this time, she’ll be mine forever

Tiffany Blues by M.J. Rose…Review Tour Stop

M. J. Rose, author of TIFFANY BLUES, on tour August 2018

About Tiffany Blues

Hardcover: 336 pages

Publisher: Atria Books (August 7, 2018)

“A lush, romantic historical mystery…a heroine to root for.” —Kristin Hannah, New York Times bestselling author of The Nightingale

“Fascinating…an enchanting glimpse of Jazz Age New York.” —Christina Baker Kline, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Orphan Train and A Piece of the World

The New York Times bestselling author of The Library of Light and Shadow crafts a dazzling Jazz Age jewel—a novel of ambition, betrayal, and passion about a young painter whose traumatic past threatens to derail her career at a prestigious summer artists’ colony run by Louis Comfort Tiffany of Tiffany & Co. fame. “[M.J. Rose] transports the reader into the past better than a time machine could accomplish” (The Associated Press).

New York, 1924. Twenty four year old Jenny Bell is one of a dozen burgeoning artists invited to Louis Comfort Tiffany’s prestigious artists’ colony. Gifted and determined, Jenny vows to avoid distractions and romantic entanglements and take full advantage of the many wonders to be found at Laurelton Hall.

But Jenny’s past has followed her to Long Island. Images of her beloved mother, her hard-hearted stepfather, waterfalls, and murder, and the dank hallways of Canada’s notorious Andrew Mercer Reformatory for Women overwhelm Jenny’s thoughts, even as she is inextricably drawn to Oliver, Tiffany’s charismatic grandson.

As the summer shimmers on, and the competition between the artists grows fierce as they vie for a spot at Tiffany’s New York gallery, a series of suspicious and disturbing occurrences suggest someone knows enough about Jenny’s childhood trauma to expose her.

Supported by her closest friend Minx Deering, a seemingly carefree socialite yet dedicated sculptor, and Oliver, Jenny pushes her demons aside. Between stolen kisses and stolen jewels, the champagne flows and the jazz plays on until one moonless night when Jenny’s past and present are thrown together in a desperate moment, that will threaten her promising future, her love, her friendships, and her very life.

My Review:

I am a huge fan of M.J. Rose and everything she writes.  No one can transport me to another time and place while reading like she does.  I always know when I pick up one of her stories I will be immersed into a world filled with lush detail, beautiful emotion, and mystery.  Tiffany Blues is yet another shining example of what Ms. Rose does so well.  I loved every single minute of this read.

Jenny’s journey is one filled with love and loss, pain and tenderness, and ultimately one of self discovery.  Her journey takes her from a painful past to a dream-come-true spot in Louis Comfort Tiffany’s artist colony and along the way we see what life must have been like back in the 1920’s.  Few things are as magical as seeing the past through Ms. Rose’s eyes and experiencing it with Jenny, an incredible and dynamic heroine, was even more special.  Jenny is also a mysterious character with a past that proves to haunt her even into this newest chapter in her life.

The cast of characters in Jenny’s life are equally as interesting.  Her eccentric best friend and the men in her life made this story even more enjoyable.

Adding to the layers of the story is a very real life mystery.  A fire destroyed much of the colony Ms. Rose has Jenny is studying at and the way Ms. Rose incorporates the fiction with reality is superb.

Whether you’re already a fan of Ms. Rose, or this is the first you’re hearing of her, I know you will love Tiffany Blues as much as I did.  It’s a definite must read!

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang…Review

Synopsis:

A heartwarming and refreshing debut novel that proves one thing: there’s not enough data in the world to predict what will make your heart tick.

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases–a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.

It doesn’t help that Stella has Asperger’s and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practice–with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can’t afford to turn down Stella’s offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan–from foreplay to more-than-missionary position…

Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but to crave all the other things he’s making her feel. Soon, their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic…

My Review:

.
The Kiss Quotient is a breath of fresh air. After reading hundreds and hundreds of romances, I’ll admit I search out those stories that will still make my toes curl and get me giddy for the process of two people falling in love. In The Kiss Quotient, some of the best tropes are here: lessons in seduction, diverse characters and cultures, escort. But the shining star here is the very real portrayal of a heroine on the Austism Spectrum. You see, Stella has Asperger’s, a social disorder that finds her in her element at work as a numbers wizard but completely out of her element with anything that comes close to dating or sex. And that right there is the magic: a heroine whose differences allow her to shine and in the process teach us all something about the search for love.
.
Stella is nothing if not goal-oriented. With the pressures of an overbearing mother, Stella decides to take the bull by the horns and seeks the help of Michael Phan, a Swedish Vietnamese male escort, for the source of all her knowledge on how to become good at the finer points of male/female interaction, namely how to behave properly and seductively so she can land a guy. It’s the main area of her life that is lacking, according to her parents, society, and, if she’s honest, herself.
.
But from the beginning, there’s something special between Stella and Michael, who are really more than business from the start. He’s not merely a male escort—in fact, he’s put his life on hold for those who depend on him, and he’s become disillusioned with the whole thing, until Stella. He’s patient and doesn’t put on a front with her. And in return, Stella’s blunt honesty becomes an openness with Michael. What follows is a lovely, refreshing contemporary romance that’s sexy and heartfelt. Best of all, Stella’s disorder doesn’t make her hard to relate to—if anything, it shows women everywhere what it’s like when women of any size, shape, struggle, or in between finds love. Stella’s Asperger’s has her feeling many of the same out of control feelings that we all feel when it comes to attraction, only heightened, and Michael is her perfect match. I love Helen Hoang’s unique perspective, and The Kiss Quotient is one of the best romances of 2018.

Moore Than A Feeling by Julie A. Richman…Excerpt & Review

Just when you thought there wasn’t any MOORE…

From USA Today bestselling author Julie A. Richman, comes a companion title to her Needing Moore series, MOORE THAN A FEELING. Order your copy of MOORE THAN A FEELING today!

About MOORE THAN A FEELING:

“Holly and Aiden broke up? Seriously? No way. Not those two.”

Dumped.
No, not only dumped.
Blindsided and dumped.

I thought that Aiden McManus was my forever, my soulmate,
That was until he told me he was still in love with his ex.

I didn’t want to believe him.
So, I convinced myself that our break-up was because of his upcoming deployment,
and not because he didn’t love me.
Believing that, helped me get through those first months.

But after a while, I realized I just might be lying to myself.
And it was time to move on…

So, I moved on. Or tried to move on, anyway.
But that didn’t work out so well for me, either.
And it practically got me disowned from my family.

After that, I finally started to get my life back together,
I had everything back under control…
…Or so I thought.

Until I found out Aiden was back

And now he’s everywhere I turn,
Still pushing me away,
telling me he doesn’t want me.

But every time he calls me Angel or reaches out to touch my cheek,
I know what he’s not admitting to himself –
He still loves me.

And I’m going to prove it to him.

Leaning down from behind the couch, it looked as if he were going to kiss the cool blonde’s cheek, but instead he whispered in her ear, “You are a guest in our home. I expect you to be civil.”
Craning her alabaster neck, she smiled, a close-mouthed smile, at her ex-husband. “Always a pleasure to see you, too, Schooner.”
Standing, she smoothed down her pencil skirt, and walked toward the kitchen, without a second glance at her ex.
“Mia, may I have a moment with you?”
“Sure, give me one sec.” She put down the slotted spoon and washed her hands. “Let’s go talk in Schooner’s office.” Mia led the way, closing the door behind them, not really knowing what to expect.
Being in a room alone with CJ had only happened once before in her life and the results had been disastrous for her as CJ convinced her that Schooner never loved her and only saw her as an obligation and charity case, causing Mia to flee before ever confronting Schooner. That conversation was the life-altering genesis of a twenty-four-year separation from the man she loved.
“I wanted to talk to you before Holly gets here,” CJ began.
“Her well-being is something you and I share.”
“Good, then will you please fill me in on the details. I need to know what I’m dealing with here.”
“We had no idea that she had met Tom. I had not seen the man in like twenty years, so we were really shocked.”
“What’s he like?”
“Intelligent, charming, talented, handsome. Female students love him. Male students want to be like him. He’s not very good at monogamy.” Mia strained to find the right words, not really knowing what they were.
“Is that why you broke up with him?”
“Yes. I caught him in our bed with one of his students. Keeping his dick in his pants was not his strong suit.” There. It was out.
“Once a cheater, always a cheater.” CJ nodded, as she stared at a spot on Schooner’s desk. Inhaling deeply, she looked back at Mia, pointing a finger at her. “I’m going to take one for the team. So, don’t you forget it.”
“What are you going to do, CJ?” Mia, of all people, knew the lengths this woman would go to in order to get her way.
“It’s best you’re not complicit.”
“Well, thanks for that.” Not knowing what she would pull, it was a relief to know that.
“Thank me later.” CJ brushed past Mia, exiting the office.

Julie is back with my favorite family – the Moore’s!!! I was so excited when I learned she was writing another book involving this family and she did not disappoint.

This Needing Moore series is one of my all-time favorite series and these spin-off books are perfect to keep the family’s legacy moving along. Julie does a great job brining the family back together and making Moore Than a Feeling a great read.

Moore Than A Feeling is more than just about the two main characters. We actually get to see how this whole family interacts with one another now. It has this overall vibe of family togetherness. If you have not read any of the previous books in relation to this one, you may not feel that whole vibe, but you also won’t be too lost on what is going on. I am hoping that reading about the other family members and how they all came to be this huge family will make you go back and read the others.

Anyway – this book. This is Holly and Aiden’s story. It was very much a heart wrenching yet beautiful story. I don’t want to give away too many details but Julie really gives these characters depth and it helps relate to them and their decisions. They both have a lot of issues to overcome, both together and individually.

This book is about forgiveness, truth and hope. The value of family and the support system that you get from a strong family unit. There are a lot of tears, laughs and frustration throughout this book. You feel the emotions of these characters and I love that.

Julie delivers another great story with the Moore’s. She keeps us on our toes with a few surprises but I love the overall family vibe of this story. When this family gets together – there is no telling what could happen!!

Her.
Somebody should have told Renee that her bodyguard needed as much discipline as the kids she was nannying.
Good thing Vic has a firm hand.

My Review:

Envy is the newest release in author Rachel Van Dyken’s Eagle Elite Series as well as the newest in the 2018 1,001 Dark nights collection.  I am a huge fan of Ms. Van Dyken’s and I was dying to get my hands on this novella.  Well, it’s safe to say the wait was SOOOO worth it.  I loved every minute of this sexy, pulse-pounding story.

I mean who can resist a brooding, dangerous, alpha male?  Not this girl! Vic is all that and a bag of chips.  I loved his bad ass, loyal, protective self.  He’s rough and gruff but has such a soft spot for Renee.  He had me swooning like a school girl with every page I read.

I adored Renee just as much.  She’s exactly what Vic needs and she’s his perfect match in every way, if you ask me.  She’s a brave spitfire of a gal who you can’t help but adore.

Together, their chemistry and heat burned up the pages.  Of, course adding the layer of a forbidden romance made their connection even more delicious to read!

Whether you’re already a Rachel Van Dyken fan, or this is your first taste, I know you’ll love Envy as mush as I did!

EXCERPT

The nurse grasps my arm, and I can’t stand anymore. My legs are tired and the adrenaline… it numbs me. I collapse beside her and she tries to hold me up, but she can’t… I’m on the ground.
My face is wet, when did I start crying?
“You have to save my son,” I beg her, my fingers curled into her arm. I stare into her eyes. Hers are green, ringed with blue, and she looks away. Something about her seems so familiar, something about those eyes.
“We’ll try, ma’am,” she says uncertainly. It’s the uncertainty that kills me. “We’ll do everything we can. I’m going to take you to a quiet room, and give you a blanket. Is there anyone I can call for you?”
I shake my head. “No. I already called my sister.”
“Okay,” the nurse says quietly and her name tag says Jessica. She takes me to a waiting room, a quiet private one, the ones they use when the outcome might not be good. I know that because I’ve been here before.
I swallow hard and she puts a cup of coffee in my hand.
As she does, she pushes a stray hair out of her face and her bracelet catches my eye. A simple chain with a silver dolphin on it. I’ve seen it before.
“You were here the night my husband was brought in,” I realize slowly. “Weren’t you? Do you remember me?”
It was a year ago. A year, two months… I check my watch… six days and twenty-two hours ago. Of course she doesn’t remember me.
But Jessica nods.
“I’m so sorry about your husband,” she tells me now, her voice quiet and thick. “I swear to you, we did everything we could.”
“I know,” I tell her. Because I do. The accident was so bad, there’s no way anyone could’ve survived. Except for Beck. He lived. But Matt…his injuries were insurmountable. That’s what the doctor told me that night.

5+++++++++++ Stars

If I could, I would give this book ALL THE STARS!!!!

I knew going into this book that it was going to be an emotional read for me. I knew that going in, this book was loosely based on Courtney and her son’s battle with addiction. Watching a loved one battle any addition in any way, is so hard for those of us standing on the side lines wanting to help and having no idea what to do.

I had tears in my eyes at the dedication and they were only the beginning of the many tears I shed reading this book. They were lots tears from so many different emotions; the biggest tears were from empathy.

I won’t go into details on this book. Just know that this book is powerful. Even though it’s a work of fiction, Courtney’s words telling a harrowing tale of mother’s love wanting to save her son with everything she has. When you feel that same desperation, that same anxiety and hopelessness as Natalie does in this book – you become her – you empathize with her.

Courtney delivers an emotional story on how easily opioids sink their claws into a person and quickly turn them into an addict. It’s a raw and honest look at how drugs easily alter an addict’s mind and personality and turn them into a totally different person.

This book is brutally honest and will dig deep into your soul. You won’t be the same after reading it and you won’t look at addiction the same way either. Addiction is an ugly disease that takes away everything from not just the addict, but their loved ones too.

If there is one book you read this year, let it be this one. Your emotions will run the gamut and in the end, leave you feeling hopeful – yes, hopeful. Your eyes, heart and soul will forever be changed.

Everything Under the Sun Tour Graphic
EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN
New York Times Bestselling Author Jessica Redmerski
Everything Under the Sun
Genre: YA/NA Crossover, Dystopian
Publication Date: August 28, 2017
Atticus, struggling to conform to the cruel nature of men in a post-apocalyptic society. Thais, fighting to stay out of the hands of men like him. Forced together, they fall in love. But can love survive in such dark times, or is it fated to die with them?
Thais Fenwick was eleven-years-old when civilization fell, devastated by a virus that killed off the majority of the world’s population. For seven years, Thais and her family lived in a community of survivors deep in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. But when her town is attacked by raiders, she and her blind sister are taken away to the East-Central Territory where she is destined to live the cruel and unjust kind of life her late mother warned her about.
Atticus Hunt is a troubled soldier in Lexington City who has spent the past seven years trying to conform to the vicious nature of men in a post-apocalyptic society. He knows that in order to survive, he must abandon his morals and his conscience and become like those he is surrounded by. But when he meets Thais, morals and conscience win out over conformity, and he risks his rank and his life to help her. They escape the city and set out together on a long and perilous journey to find safety in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Struggling to survive in a world without electricity, food, shelter, and clean water, Atticus and Thais shed their fear of growing too close, and they fall hopelessly in love. But can love survive in such dark times, or is it fated to die with them?
This book will take you on a long, dangerous, exciting journey. These characters will stay with you and you will fall so in love with them! I want to read it again, and again, and again!
That was an epic read. Pure epic! … Jessica Redmerski… is an absolutely incredible writer. I fall in love with every book she writes, every character, everything.

DREAM CAST

My dream cast for EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN would probably be:

Thais Fenwick: Emily Browning or Emmy Rossum
Sosie Fenwick: Sophie Kennedy Clark or Jane Levy (but with white-blond hair)
Atticus Hunt: Alexander Ludwig or Nicholas Hoult

It’s been over a day since I finished this book and I am still in awe of it. Everything Under the Sun is over 600 pages of brilliance. I am in awe of Jessica’s talent.

I have been desperately waiting to read this book and was so honored when I was given an arc in exchange for a review. Jessica’s writing is so amazing; it’s impossible to not fall into her stories head first.

We all have become so used to the roughly 300 page books that authors put out anymore, so when I saw that this was over 600 pages – I was even more excited for this book. I am not going to lie and say that every page was just as exciting as the next, but the development of these characters and their lives, each page felt like a new insight into them and what they were going through – it was like watching a movie play-out before my eyes.

Everything Under the Sun is a post-apocalyptic love story of two young people who are forced to live in the new world when the Sickness practically wiped out mankind. Left behind are all sorts and kinds of people living in this new world – savages, cracks and people making up factions in large cities where they are ruled by ruthless leaders. The world is no longer civilized and the world has returned to it’s earlier form of living but with a much crueler fate.

While this book is about surviving in the new world, there is a budding romance between Thais and Atticus. It is a hate to love romance, but it is one you can slowly see happening as the story moves forward day by day, week by week. And this is the part of the story that I feel that Jessica did her best in not making it feel so insta-love and shows how these two fell for one another during the dark times. Some will feel that this part is too drawn out and that certain scenes can be eliminated. But if she did that, then those same people would also turn around and say that things happened too quickly between them and their love isn’t as believable.  I felt the scenes, while not as exciting as others, are just as important to this plot and needed to show how this love develops.

I will state that this book is very dramatic and very suspenseful but it is need in order for this story to work out best. You need the descriptions, the character development, the deep plot in order to really find yourself immersed in this story. I truly don’t believe this story would work out completely if we did not see how these two lived day to day and how they came to be in the end.

And that ending – yea, after 600+ pages, I was not expecting that, at all.

Bravo, Jessica, BRAV-FUCKING-O!!!!
