My Review:

Searching For Always is the fourth book in author Jennifer Probst’s Searching For series, a series I love more with each release. I think I probably said with the previous book that it was my favorite of the series and I have to change my vote…..this book, by far, is my favorite!

If ever there was a enemies to lovers/opposites attract story to fall in love with, this is it. Officer Stone Petty and yogi Arilyn Meadows have been at odds since the first met…and it gets more and more heated with each exchange they have.

He’s a meat-eating, tough ass, rough and tumble burly cop. She’s a vegetarian, animal loving, loving yoga instructor. He loves the chaos of a good police chase; she loves her meditation and calm surroundings. She fosters dogs of all kinds; he can’t stand them. Truly, opposite in every way.

Of course that only means the push and pull between the is off the freaking charts smoking hot and when the heat finally combusts into a flame, it is white-hot! The range of emotions I felt while reading this book was all over the place. Both Arilyn and Stone have heartbreaking pasts that helped shape who they are today and, ironically, it’s the pasts they tried to keep hidden that brings them together when it surfaces. I loved these two together and I loved reading their journey. I laughed and cried and gritted my teeth in frustration and in the end it all added up to one of the most amazing stories Ms. Probst has written.

I also have to say again that Ms. Probst writes some of the best, swoon producing, movie worthy endings I have ever read…..this book was no exception! All I have to say is: big, bad, uniformed police man holding cute little doggie in a pink studded collar. (you guys MUST read this book!)

Thank you, Ms. Probst, for once again giving us an incredible romance with brilliant characters and tons of heat and emotion!

I have been waiting and waiting and waiting ever so patiently for this book and damn it was well worth it!!!

Redeemed starts right off where Revealed ended and gets right into everything. Mason and Emma are still apart and struggling with staying apart for various and quite obvious reasons.

I love that we get to see Mason go through his struggles and conflicts. There is no sugar coating what he is dealing with and J.M. does a fantastic job of not having Mason move past his problems and issues just like that or because of a woman. He realizes what he feels for Emma is different and strong, but he still has his demons and issues.

Emma isn’t the typical female character who just throws everything she has worked for over a guy and I absolutely find that amazing. She knows she wants to figure out where this thing is going with Mason but she also isn’t willing to lose herself or screw up everything she was worked for her because of him.

“No matter how many times I’d tired to get him out of my head, I couldn’t do it. He was etched into my brain and permanently in my heart.”

J.M. does a fantastic job of writing two characters who are extremely strong and you feel a connection to them. You feel their compassion for one another and also the struggles they face. The plot is very well written and the suspense is just right for this story. Everything flowed extremely well, except I wish we could have had more of a longer conclusion; I felt certain parts felt rushed but that still didn’t take away from the overall story. And that could possibly be also because I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Mason and Emma. LOL

You must read this series!! It was one my favorite series this year and I look forward to more from J.M. I actually hoping we might get a story or two from a character or two that we got a glimpse of in this story – HINT HINT!

Ok – stop reading my review and go buy this book – the whole series if you have not read the first, Professor Cline Revealed!

Review:

Searching For Always is the 4th book in Jennifer’s Searching series and you can definitely read this book as a standalone.

Arilyn is very calm and likes to keep things in order. She doesn’t like things to get out of control and pretty much leads a life of zen.

Officer Petty has a tendency to lose control and allow his anger to get over on him. He is ordered to take a 6 week course in getting control of himself and reign that anger in.

However, he is the one person who is able to push buttons on Arilyn that she struggles to maintain her patience. And yes, these two prove that there is a very thin line between love and hate. However, neither one wants to admit that their attraction is beyond the physical part. Their banter and bickering just added to the whole book.

Jennifer does a fantastic job of walking us through this relationship – ups and downs and everything in between. Jennifer really knows how to make a story come to life; making everything feel so real. As they say, opposites attract and Arilyn and Stone definitely fit that perfectly.

Jennifer is another one of my go-to authors for contemporary romance. She knows how to give you all the chills and feelings for a modern romance but adds that heat and sex appeal to give it added flare. Her writing is definitely one of kind!

Highly recommended series and again – each book can be read as a standalone!

My review:

Up in Smoke is book number two (book number 2.5 if you count the novella, Riskier Business) in author Tessa Bailey’s Crossing The Line Series and because I’m a huge fan of Tessa’s work, I was so excited to read Connor and Erin’s story. Once again, Tessa didn’t disappoint. I swear, I was completely hooked from Erin’s very first antic and couldn’t put this book down until I had finished it. Of course, that brought me into huge book hangover mode…but that’s always the case when I finish a Tessa book!

Ex Navy SEAL Connor Bannon and pyro with a bad case of claustrophobia Erin O’Dea meet when they are working together in a rag-tag group of bad guys turned good guys for the sake of ending crime in their town.

First off, I ADORE the premise of this series. It’s like the Mod Squad with a modern and sexy edge. It’s one of my favorite series to date and one I always look forward to reading more of.

From the word go, Connor and Erin have this ridiculously sexy push and pull that had me enthralled and loving each minute of their banter. He wants her from the minute he sees her. She toys with him but then pushed him away. It drives him crazy that she wears short shorts. She wears them even shorter. She truly pushed his buttons at every turn but I don’t think she knew what kind of leashed beast she was messing with. Of course when she gets a taste of his dirty talk and his hunger for her, she’s a total goner….and let’s be honest, I would be too. But both of these characters’ depth goes way beyond their game of cat and mouse. They’re both damaged in their own way and totally worth fixing. Connor’s innate need to fix things comes out in droves the first time Erin is in the middle of a claustrophobic episode. It had me positively swooning for him. He’s this big, bad, rough, tough ex-SEAL with a soft spot for Erin and if that isn’t such a turn on, I don’t know what is. I equally loved Erin. She has a fragile soul and has learned the art of putting on a front to keep people at arm’s length as a defense mechanism. Wether it be her out of the box fashion sense or saying the most outlandish things to elicit shock, I loved her. They are both a dichotomy in their own right and it only adds to their layers as characters…..something Tessa does so well; it always amazes me.

Now, let’s talk about the heat factor. Dear. God. This was panty-melting, cheek-flushing, heart-pounding, off the charts hot. I think what made it even hotter was Erin’s inability to let people touch her in the beginning and Connor’s willingness to let her use him for her needs. It was such a delicious combination. We rarely see the damaged heroine these days and I really appreciated reading a woman take over the role that we read in so many current books. Another thing Tessa does so well…turning the norm on its head and getting people to love that view.

Overall this was another amazing addition to Tessa’s collection and I cannot WAIT to see what she has in store for us next. I have no doubt it’s going to be fantastic!

Five Loves

Excerpt:

As if her thoughts had made him appear, Connor strode into the courthouse. Her pulse started beating double time, her stomach muscles tightening. Good Lord, the man was a fucking panty dropper. She’d only been away from him for a few hours and it felt like years since she’d experienced his presence. In jeans and a fitted gray T-shirt that molded to his muscles like her hands itched to do, he personified confidence and authority. Hot, rugged male. His gaze connected with hers immediately and darkened. She thought back to that morning when he’d dressed in the early morning light, his abs flexing as he pulled the shirt over his head. His erection barely contained by his boxers. She’d never been one to beg for anything, but she’d been seconds from offering him her mouth. Pleading for the privilege of sucking him off.

Conner shook his head at her with a sexy half smile on his face, as if he could read her thoughts across the room. He stopped at the metal detector and walked through after the security guard beckoned him forward. When the woman grabbed her wand and instructed him to raise his hands in the air, something ugly reared its head deep inside her. The detector hadn’t even beeped. There was no reason for the personal service. When the woman smiled at Connor and ran a hand down her ponytail, Erin propelled herself forward, boots echoing on the polished marble.

Erin hissed as she drew even with the guard. “If you’re done feeling up my boyfriend, I’d love a turn. We were in a rush this morning.”

The guard dropped the wand, letting it dangle near her thigh. “Did you just hiss at me?”

Erin hissed again.

“Okay.” Connor stepped between them, winking down at her. “We should go. Don’t want to keep the clerk waiting.”

Appreciation spread in her belly like honey. He hadn’t chided her for her behavior or apologized to the woman on her behalf. Instead he’d given the impression they were on their way to get married, appeasing her jealousy in one fell swoop. “That’s right.” She sauntered toward the elevator. “There’s vows to be exchanged. Rings to put on fingers. Shit like that.”

She glanced behind her to find Connor staring at her ass as she walked, so she put a little swing in her hips and savored his groan. Damn. She’d definitely never had this much fun at a courthouse.

A moment later, she and Connor stepped into an empty elevator. She hit the button for the top floor even though the clerk was on the first, and leaned back against the wall, looking up at him through her eyelashes. “How was your morning, baby? Was it worth leaving me in bed, all hot and bothered for you?”

“Fuck no, it wasn’t.” He crooked a big finger at her. “Climb on up here.”

My Review:

Beat is book number two in author Vi Keeland’s Life On Stage series and being a big fan of Ms. Keeland’s writing, I was so excited to get my hands on this book. Well, let me say that I blame today’s bags under my eyes on the sexy and deliciously sweet Flynn Beckham because once I started this book, there was no way I could put it down. I loved it so much!

This was a love triangle that had me all in all sorts of knots, but in a good way. Lucky is totally caught off guard when she thinks her life is pretty set and as good as it was going to get. Which wasn’t terrible. She owned a bar, had a rock-star boyfriend she and the rest of the single girls in the U.S. had pined over since being teenagers, and a great best friend. All in all it was pretty good. But there was always something unsettled right under the surface she chose to just bury it deep. Then she met Flynn. Suddenly that unsettled feeling came to the forefront…but inexplicably became calm when he was around. She knew it had to mean something. She wasn’t sure she wanted to admit it. Too bad she wouldn’t have much of a choice when her boyfriend decides to take her on tour with his band at the same time the band’s bass player is replaced…with Flynn.

Now she was stuck on a tour bus with her boyfriend and the guy she was beyond attracted to. Too bad they weren’t one in the same. And that’s when my nerves kicked in! I didn’t know what I wanted Lucky to do. On one hand, Dylan, is an ok guy in the beginning; even though rumors of him cheating were always in the periphery. On the other hand Flynn is just so amazing all around. He’s talented, funny, kind, caring, understanding, and is so good to his little niece that I just about died. There truly wasn’t one thing I didn’t love about him. Lucky sure did have her hands full with these two. But one wins out in the end and while I won’t tell you who, I will say that I was SO FREAKING HAPPY! (so, yeah, you can probably guess who it is lol!)

This book had it all. I laughed, I cried, I blushed…I loved it ALL. Ms. Keeland once again wrote an amazing story with characters I just adored. Thank you, Vi!

Five Loves

Excerpt:

Getting through Flynn singing is incredibly hard. The way his throat moves, the way his mouth caresses each syllable of the low, raspy sound that falls from his lips. I should be watching his posture, his breathing, the way his larynx forces out the words—but instead I’m focused on the beauty of his mouth and how the sound of his voice glides over my body, making it feel both warm and tingly at the same time. I’m lost when the song finishes, yet I haven’t really observed him yet.

“So. Give it to me straight. What am I doing wrong?”

Ummm…absolutely nothing from what I can see. Everything was perfect. Don’t change a thing. Shit. “Could you do it again? Maybe a different song, one you haven’t sung in a while. So the sounds are less familiar to your body. Sometimes that can give me a different view.” At least I make it sound like a real thing when the words come out.

He sings again, and this time I force myself to observe. “Hmm…your posture is great. Most people have a tendency to favor one side of their neck, which makes them tilt a bit when they speak, and it becomes magnified when they sing, which puts strain on the muscles around the vocal cords. Your alignment is perfect.”

“Thank you, it goes with the rest of my perfectness,” he says with a teasing arrogance that, from the little I know about him, I know isn’t real.

“You didn’t let me finish.”

“You can’t now tell me I’m not perfect. I was already basking in the glow.”

“Actually, it was perfect…but almost a little too perfect. Which makes me think you don’t usually stand this way when you sing.”

“It isn’t the way I normally sing. On stage, I usually have a guitar over my shoulder. Even if I’m not playing it, it’s there.”

“Well, I need to see you holding your instrument to assess you fully, then.”

Flynn’s eyebrows quirk up and the dirty grin on his face is unmistakable.

“The guitar. I’d need to see you holding the guitar.”

“That’s a shame.” He shrugs, the playful smile still on his face. “But okay. It’s your call. Whatever instrument you want to see me hold is fine with me.”

“How big of you.”

“So now we’re talking about the other instrument again?”

I roll my eyes, although this conversation is having more of an effect on me than I let on.
