My Review

Kristy – what are you doing to do my ovaries?!!? You are making them explode with these Malone men and I didn’t even read the first book, Cuffed – but I will be now.

Shit almighty, where do I start with this. Kristy really knows how to make stories feel real and endearing. Did I agree with every choice the characters make (past and present), no, but they were so realistic it made me feel so much apart of their story.

Dylan is songwriter and is currently stuck writing songs for her now ex because of her contract. She needs to get away from the asshole and his never ending assholery (totally just made that word up). Dylan moves in with her brother’s best friend in hopes the new found peace and distraction helps her move forward. And it does, just in ways she never expected.

Grady not only wear his scars physically, but he carries them with him constantly, trying to move past them. However, he is extremely selfless and always willing to help out wherever he can. He always put on a good front for everyone, but deep inside, he was truly afraid to live life fully.

Kristy is a master at writing flawless stories and deep characters. The words come alive with her writing and you can’t help but be sucked into the story. Kristy gives us the perfect blend of romance with a lot of heat!!!

Look The Part by Jewel E Ann….Blog Tour

LookThePart-SBPRBanner-BT.jpg

“Look The Part is my new top favorite from the inimitable Jewel E. Ann. Delightfully quirky, funny but deeply emotional, Look The Part was pitch perfect. I loved everything about this five-star read!” – USA Today bestseller Ella James

Look the Part, an all-new “emotional and breathtaking” standalone from

Jewel E. Ann is available NOW!

LookThePart Full

Synopsis

Flint Hopkins finds the perfect tenant to rent the space above his Minneapolis-based law office.

All the T’s are crossed and I’s dotted on Ellen’s application. Her references are good. And she’s easy on the eyes.

Until …

Flint discovers Ellen Rodgers, Board-Certified Music Therapist, plays music. Bongos, guitars, singing—not Beethoven administered through noise-cancelling headphones.

The cut-throat attorney serves up an eviction notice to the bubbly, constantly-humming redhead who’s too sexy for her own good. But luck is on Ellen’s side when Flint’s autistic son, Harrison, takes an instant liking to her. A single dad can’t compete with guitars—and rats. Yes, she has pet rats.

This woman …

She’s annoyingly happy with a constant need to touch him—adjust his tie, button his shirt, invade his space, and mess with his mind.

Still …

She must go.

Their lust-hate relationship escalates into something beautiful and tragic. This sexy, romantic-comedy explores the things we want, the things we need, and the impossible decisions parents and children make to survive.

Excerpt:

There’s something thrilling, even a little forbidden, about a man in a perfectly-tailored suit. Flint Hopkins wears the hell out of a three-piece suit.

Not a single wrinkle.

Not a hair out of place.

Not a scuff mark on his shiny shoes.

His lips move, but all I hear is “I wore this suit for you today” as his hands make their rounds: caressing the buttons on his jacket, twisting his cufflinks, and adjusting his tie. It’s sophisticated fidgeting.

“You said you’re a therapist, not a music teacher.”

Observant men are sexy too.

“I did. And I am. Specifically, I’m a music therapist. Do you want me to explain what a music therapist does?”

“No. I just want you to look for a different space to rent. I’ll give you two weeks.” He turns and makes it out the door in three long strides.

My toes are on his heels in seconds, chasing him down the stairs. “Wait? You’re evicting me?”

“I’m giving you notice.”

“Notice? You’re kicking me out for what? Doing my job?”

“Preventing me from doing mine.” He pushes through the door at the bottom of the stairs and makes a sharp right.

“Hey, Boss, how’d it—” Amanda’s gaze moves from Flint to me as I follow him into his office.

“Hi, Amanda. Would you happen to have the name of a good real estate attorney? I may need to sue my landlord for wrongful eviction.”

“Um …”

Flint turns, halting my forward momentum a second shy of slamming into his chest. “Shut my door, Amanda.” His eyes narrow.

I don’t care how hot this guy looks in a suit. I won’t recoil under his glower. “Please leave it open, Amanda. I may need you to be my witness.”

Arrogance tugs at his mouth. “A witness?”

“For when you threaten me.”

He unbuttons his jacket and takes a step back. A whoosh of oxygen leaves my chest like it’s attached to him. The man has an air of confidence and mystery about him that commands attention.

When he turned around to face me a few seconds ago, I sensed the slightest agitation in his narrowed eyes and flared nostrils, but not anymore. It’s not hard to imagine Flint Hopkins in a courtroom—cool, calculated, ruthless.

“You seem to be an intelligent person, so surely you can see how the noise level of your profession could distract me from doing mine. I think sharing space with other businesses is not a good idea. You need a building of your own or maybe you should work out of your house.”

“I live in an apartment. And I’m sorry, Mr. Money Bags, but I don’t have the cash flow to buy or rent a building all to myself. You’re an attorney. How often are you even in your office? And when you are, what are you doing that requires complete silence? Charming snakes? Narrating audio books?”

Respect by Aleatha Romig…Blog Tour & Review

Respect – An Infidelity Stand-alone Novel

“The making of a man”
Standing at what I believe is the precipice of my life, I, Oren Demetri, was too young to understand that it wasn’t and too old to imagine that it couldn’t be.
The already hefty accumulation of my successes and failures, bravery and fears, and rewards and suffering, had brought me to this point. It was hard to contemplate the things I’d done, and yet, in reality I’d only begun to learn the possibilities.

I suppose that’s how it was for me at twenty-nine years of age on the brink of all I’d ever wanted without fully realizing the price I would pay. Yet in that moment, I knew there would be no cost too great or sacrifice I wouldn’t make. I had no idea how far-reaching that moment of self-discovery would be; because as the congregation’s murmurs quieted, bleeding into silence and allowing the thump of my heart to be the only sound I heard, I was a man filled with love and adoration, emotions in stark contrast to those I needed in the world I’d built or the one I was about to enter.
Angelina Costello was my dream and now my reality. I’d worked diligently to move beyond the actuality of being a dockworker’s son to becoming a self-made, successful entrepreneur, all in an effort to earn the right to call her my own. I’d overcome servitude to others, collecting their paychecks and lowly praises, to being the one who signed the paychecks and offered the accolades when they were rightfully earned.
The world was my oyster and walking toward me on the arm of her uncle was my pearl. I’d found her amongst the empty shells life had offered. There was no need to pry open another possibility. Angelina was all I wanted. Yet my path was uncharted. There was more for me to earn, lose, and willingly give.
The top of that list was respect.
This stand-alone novel may be read without reading the Infidelity series.
From New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Aleatha Romig comes a stand-alone novel based from her beloved Infidelity series. With classic Aleatha Romig twists, turns, deceptions, and devotions, this new epic romantic thriller will delve into a world where family takes on new meaning and even the inhabitants are suspicious of the next chapter.

Have you been Aleatha’d?

Angelina Costello was the only woman to ever take my breath away. I couldn’t not speak to her. “I haven’t seen you since NYU.”
“I’ve been living overseas, studying history and architecture in Italy.”
“Italy! Molto bene. And now you’re back?” I asked.
“I am.”
“To stay?”
“I believe so.”
“Perhaps we could see one another,” I proposed, all the while hoping that she would say yes and saying a prayer that she would say no.
Her lips curved upward. “I see you now.”
“Si, and I would like to see more.”
With a glint to her gaze, she said, “I never forgot you. I thought at one time…” Her head tilted innocently as her lip momentarily hid behind her teeth. “Are you sure you aren’t still scared of me?”
“Angelina, I’m quite certain that I’m terrified of you.”
Her smile grew. “Bene. Then let me give you my number.”

Midnight Blue by L.J. Shen…Blog Tour & Review

SBPR-BT-BANNER.jpg

Midnight Blue, an all-new sexy standalone from LJ Shen is available NOW!

LJSMidnightBlueBookCover6x9_BW_324

Midnight Blue

Author: LJ Shen

Release Date: January 18th

It should have been easy.

I needed the money. He needed a babysitter to keep him from snorting himself to death.

I was cherry-picked especially for him. Responsible. Optimistic. Warm. Innocent.

The worst part is that I should have known better.

Alex Winslow. British rock star. Serial heartbreaker. Casanova with whiskey eyes.

“Don’t get near the devil in a leather jacket. He’ll chew you up and spit you out.”

Sounds familiar? That’s because it was a headline in a tabloid the second time he got arrested.

Guess what? I didn’t listen.

I signed the contract.

World tour. Three months. Four Continents. One hundred shows.

My name is Indigo Bellamy, and I sold my soul to a tattooed god.

Problem was, my soul wasn’t enough for Alex Winslow. He ended up taking my body, too.

Then he took my heart.

Then he took my all.

Midnight Blue is the first book I have read by L.J. I truly do live under a rock because I just recently learned of her and all these amazing books she writes. I am not blaming myself for not knowing who she – I am blaming my fellow book nerds for not mentioning her to me before now. RUDE PEOPLE!! LOL

When I heard that Midnight Blue was a rockstar romance, I didn’t hesitate. They are my weakness and I love these books. Music and books are my two must-haves in life so when they come together, it’s euphoric to me. LOL Midnight Blue lived up to its hype for me.

“He scarred me. I decorated him. But at the end of the day, we were both tainted by each other.”

Alex is a true rockstar asshole. He wasn’t born that way, he just slowly started blaming everyone around him for his problems. I can’t even say they were problems, they were just problems to him because he was doing what everyone else wanted and expected. He drowned himself in those problems with drugs and alcohol which eventually landed him in rehab. His manager and PR are now gearing up for his world tour to jumpstart his career again. Alex is wild card so they hire him a nanny; they actually hired quite a few, but none ever stayed for more than 3 days because Alex is a bonafide, grade A asshole. Til Indie.

Indie is quite the unique character. She’s an introvert with her own style. But she’s now in a situation where she needs money and lots of it. Pronto. She lives with her brother and his family and life has been giving them nothing but lemons lately. But Indie is determined to change that. So she signs the contract of a lifetime knowing it will change everything for them.

Alex and Indie are highly charged fuses. Indie pushes Alex in ways he’s not used to. She doesn’t back down to him and refuses to be a doormat to his ego. Alex is too full of himself to see how much of an asshole he is so he continues to bate and push Indie. But he does eventually wear her down, something she herself struggles with. They are two wounded people who struggle to recover from their mangled and wrecked hearts.

“Alex Winslow was a broken vase. But I wasn’t the glue. I was the stupid cleaner who was about to try to pick up the pieces, and inevitably, get cut.”

I truly felt so much with this story. Shen writes extremely captivating characters with an invigorating story. I have so many quotes and highlights on my kindle, I don’t even know where to start. This book had me so wrapped up in these characters, I never wanted it to end. And there is so much more to this book than just rockstar and his “hanny” (hot nanny as Alex dubbed her). You just have to read to find out for yourself.

Alex and Indie create quite the storm of emotions between one another. They hate each other, yet crave one another so desperately. They are a disaster of epic proportions waiting to explode. The angst in this book is almost unbearable. It is heavy with emotions but damn worth it all.

Midnight Blue is not a sweet romance. It’s not the perfect love story either. It’s the story of fighting for the love you thought you’d never find. Midnight Blue is scarred and beautiful.

“Two souls collided on a took dark floor in a graveyard for the stars.
Funny, when you walked into my life I thought I’d be the one leaving all the scars.”

Excerpt:

Nat’s words came back and haunted me like a bad haircut from the eighties. An irrational need to check the goods took over me. It wasn’t like he minded. According to the rumors, his dick had seen more cameras than Kendall Jenner. Slowly—so painfully slowly—my eyes drifted down his sinewy body. I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Whatever I had in mind, though, didn’t come close to the real thing. Thick, long but not atrocious. With thin veins running through its length.

“Nice view?” he groaned, tucking his junk back into his briefs. His profile was glorious. Strong jaw, pouty lips, eyes like sex…

My eyes snapped up when I realized he was talking to me. “I wasn’t…”

“Looking? Yes, you were. Next time take a picture. It lasts longer.” He rolled his zipper upward and flushed the toilet with the toe of his boot. He turned around and squirted soap into his palm, washing his hands almost violently—rubbing between each finger and scratching his knuckles like he wanted to shed his own skin. When he was done, he looked around for a towel.

I cleared my throat, scrambling to regain my wits. “Longer than the glimpse or longer than your performance?”

Casually—so unbearably casually—he wiped his wet hands over my purple dress. I gasped, moving sideways. It looked like he was about to open the door and get out, but before I had the chance to yell at him for using me as a human towel, he slammed me against the wall, bracing both his arms above my head and pinning me to my spot. I let out a shriek of surprise at the sudden proximity.

Alex Winslow is touching me. Willingly, my surprisingly pitiful brain squealed.

Heat rolled off his body, making my back arch and my breath catch in my throat.

“Let’s make one thing clear—I could fuck you to a point of numbness without even breaking a sweat if I wanted to. Now, careful, New Girl. If you don’t keep your distance from me, I think I just might.”

xo, Zach by Kendall Ryan…Blog Tour & Review

The first time we met was at a party.

Your ex arrived to show off the person he’d left you for last month, and you asked me to pretend to be your date.

I was more than happy to help. You were attractive, smart and witty–and that kiss we shared? It left me wanting you for days.

The second time we met was in my office on campus where we were both surprised to discover you were the new master’s degree student in poetry that I would be working with. You promised to be professional. I did no such thing.

The late nights and intense study sessions spent alongside you majorly throw me off my game. I want you, and I fight with myself daily over this fact.

I know I’m crass, that my sexual innuendos and dirty mouth annoy you, but I live for those two bright spots of color in your cheeks. If that’s the only reaction I can get out of you, I’ll gladly take it.

You hate Mondays so every Monday I slip an anonymous poem into your bag and your smile gets me through the week.

I think I’m falling for you, and I know it’s wrong. I know that I’m only supposed to be your adviser and nothing more, but here’s the thing. I think you’re falling for me too.

xo, Zach

YESSSSSSSS!!!!!

This book reminds me so much of why I fell in love with Kendall’s writing many years ago. This is the what I expect from Kendall Ryan, what I love about her writing; the stories that I fall deeply into and never want them to end.

The blurb says it all – he’s her advisor yet they both want so much more. While Zach has no problems in expressing what he wants, Poppy is extremely reluctant to go beyond student and advisor. There is no shortage of sexual tension between these two but they do a great job of trying to maintain that platonic relationship.

Kendall writes a very enthralling story that you feel yourself getting caught up in. Zach holds nothing back with his openness, while Poppy puts up all the stops because of this or that; it’s like a neurotic dance between them that just gets more intense with each passing moment.

I love the buildup and how everything plays out. There isn’t a singular moment that finally has things falling into place, it’s just how it was all suppose to happen. While Poppy did give me whiplash with her back and forth, you totally understood where she is coming from. If she gave in, she wasn’t just putting her own future in jeopardy. But damn it’s extremely tempting to give into that that temptation, even just once, just to get a taste.

Yea – this book was perfect for me. Nothing was too fast-paced, the timing of everything just flowed perfectly. You want a swoon-worthy man with the perfect amount of sexiness, I highly-recommend xo, Zach. You won’t be able to say no to him.

A New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author of more than two dozen titles, Kendall Ryan has sold over 1.5 million books and her books have been translated into several languages in countries around the world. Bad For You by J. Daniels…Blog Tour & Review

“If you’re a fan of Kristen Ashley, then you will love this book.” -Aestas Book Blog on Four Letter Word

He didn’t want to be bad. He just didn’t have a choice…

Shayla Perkins isn’t the kind of girl who makes the same mistake twice, especially when it comes to Sean “Stitch” Molina. So when he gives her the world’s biggest rejection, that’s it–she’s done. Until the sexy, silent, unavailable Sean makes Shay a very personal offer. Of course, it still doesn’t mean he’s interested in her. Or does it?

Sean has done things in life. Bad things. And he’s paid the price. All he wants now is to make up for his past by doing good in the present. And no one deserves more good than Shay. Beautiful on the inside and out, Shay is the kind of woman who should be cared for and protected–especially from a man like Sean. He’s tried to keep his feelings for her in check, but a single, reckless impulse pulls them closer than ever before.

Soon the two are sharing their biggest dreams and satisfying their deepest desires. But what will happen if the only way to truly give each other what they want most…is to let each other go?

“The perfect mix of funny, hot and heartwarming. I enjoyed it immensely!” –Mia Sheridan, New York Times bestselling author, on Four Letter Word

Oh Ms. Daniels, lovely Jessica, you really surprised me with this book.

“You will suffer for love.”

Bad for You is the third book is Daniels’ Dirty Deeds series but can be read as a standalone. And let me tell you, it’s one you want to read.

A broken hero and selfless heroine – I am hooked!! I won’t go into much detail on this book because I feel the blurb gives you enough to know what you’re getting into and anything more would be giving away too much.

Sean feels that he is not worthy of anything – not love, not his kids, nothing. He wants all that but because of his past, he believes that those things are what he can never have.

Shay a feisty and persuasive little thing. She doesn’t back down from anything and has made her mission to prove to Sean that he is worthy of anything, including her. And when she realizes that she’s truly not over Sean, things get even more intense.

“Love is sacrifice, Sean”…”It’s putting your own happiness second.”

I can’t tell you how much I love all these characters. Daniels not wrote an amazing story, but she wrote some strong and real characters. Let me tell you, Val is one hell of a woman. I love that she and Shay hit it off so well and that even when everything was discovered, nothing changed, neither felt differently about the other. And to me, that shows such strong and confident women in a very tough situation. And Sean – omg, my heart hurt for him. I love that Daniels has Sean come across as this tough and brooding guy but once he allows someone in, you see that he’s really just hiding his pain – that he does have the most genuine heart. And that heart was beaten down so many times in his past; he’s been through a lot and does deserve everything.

I love this story, I really do. I was sucked in the from the start and loved how it all played out. Daniels wrote one hell of story that will captivate you an have you wishing you were Shay.

Thrive by Aly Martinez…..Blog Tour & Review

BOOK INFORMATION:

★★NEW RELEASE ALERT★★

THRIVE by Aly Martinez
Amazon: http://amzn.to/2FMqm2M
Audible: http://adbl.co/2m84Mg3
iTunes Audio: http://bit.ly/ThriveAppleAudio

When I was nineteen years old, I was faced with a choice that changed my life.

Keep the safety of what I already knew or risk losing everything with the young, hotheaded soldier who stole my heart.

I chose the wrong man, and for seventeen years, I paid in tears, blood, and shattered dreams for that decision.

Now, there’s a man in my house, holding a gun to my head on the order of my ex-husband—given from his prison cell.

That hotheaded soldier I was too afraid to choose? He’s now a six-foot-three wall of muscle who works at the country’s most premier bodyguard agency. I’ve always wanted him, but now, I’ve never needed him more.

It’s the call I’m terrified to make.

I’m sure he still hates me… Even though I’ve never stopped loving him.

Aly Martinez is amazing!! Thrive is a MUST READ!!!

Thrive is the 2nd book in her Guardian Protection series. You can read it as standalone as each book is about a separate couple, but all the men are in each book so you get a glimpse of them throughout the series too.

Before I even go into why I love this book so much, I want to address a few things. This book is not a love triangle – everything that occurs is seventeen years past any sort of love triangle. There is mention of cheating from the past, but it does not occur in the present, which is the majority of this book’s plot. If you have any issues with cheating at all – do not read this book and then give it a bad rating because you can’t handle the cheating – that is disrespectful to the author and makes you look like an ass for reading something you couldn’t handle to begin with.

Ok, now that that is off my chest, on to my review. 🙂

Mira and Jeremy had a wonderful friendship that started 17 years ago but was destroyed when she chose his best friend. They have been lived with that choice and moved on with their lives. Jeremy is now working for Guardian Protection and never expected to have Mira enter his life again.

Mira is trying to pick up the pieces of her life after her now ex-husband ends up in prison and destroyed the one thing she was proud of, her bar. She and her best friend, Whitney are getting ready to move into a new apartment when Mira’s past comes barreling into her living room. With no idea who or where to turn to, she does something unexpectedly – she contacts Jeremy in hopes he’ll help her out.

Yea, we’ll just say their reunion was all roses and smiley faces. LOL Jeremy has a lot of pent up anger, hatred and aggression for how shit went down seventeen years ago and time has not eased any of that one bit. But behind all the animosity, is the love and adoration he once felt for Mira too. Mira too regrets how things went down but she has no idea how Jeremy feels – something neither ever expressed to the other before. And that’s just the beginning of this amazing book!!

There is a lot of emotions in this book and they are intense!! Everything is complicated and nothing is easy. What I loved most was seeing how deeply Mira and Jeremy truly loved one another. With all the hurt, anger and betrayal, their love was still a bright beacon. I loved that they pushed one another to the edge because it forced them to own what they felt and thought; it made them grow up in their relationship.

Aly writes some damn amazing characters. The interactions and banter between everyone, felt so natural and real. Mira and Jeremy had a lot to overcome and they key was communication – something they never realized they lacked to a degree until everything was finally coming out in the open. The ups and downs in this book were so worthwhile and made the journey even better. And let me tell you, there was no shortage of sexiness in this book – WOW!!

I cannot wait for the next book in this series. Aly has been on the edge of my seat wanting to read about each of these men in Guardian Protection. Go start this series if you haven’t done so already!

Love Between Enemies (Grad Night #2)
by Molly E. Lee
Publication Date: January 8, 2018
Publisher: Entangled: Crus

Zoey Handler is ready to put an end to her decade-long rivalry with Gordon Meyers. They’ve traded top spot between valedictorian and salutatorian for years, but all that’s over now. Right? But after a crazy graduation speech prank gets out of hand, suddenly their rivalry turns into all-out war. Time to make peace with a little friendly payback.

Step one? Make him believe they’re now friends.

Step two? Show him the time of his life at an epic graduation party.

Step three? Don’t fall for his tricks.

Step four? Absolutely, positively, do not kiss him again.

So what if he’s cute? (Okay, hot.) So what if he’s charming? (Heaven help her, tempting.) So what if he apologizes? (That has to be fake.) She knows the real Gordon. And no matter how much her heart begs her to stop, there’s no turning back.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains one epic party, complete with every high-schoolers-gone-bad shenanigan, and two rivals who discover maybe they could be something much more…if only they’d stop fighting long enough to notice it.

Love Between Enemies is the second book in Molly’s Grad Night series. Every book is standalone within the series. You do not need to read any of the others to follow along as there is no subplot throughout the books.

I am a huge fan of YA books – I enjoy reading them and I usually breeze through them within a day or two (depending on my schedule). But this one, I actually struggled to read and continue on with it. I ended up reading two books before I went back to finish this one and still had a hard time getting through it. It was just ok for me.

I think the biggest issue for me was the entire book was 24hrs – and lord, was it a LONG 24hrs. A lot happened and things between Gordon and Zoey changed, but I wish everything took place over a long period of time. I felt myself getting extremely bored and just wanted to get to the end. I did end up skimming a lot of the book because the angst just wasn’t there for me.

The storyline was cute and I enjoyed that it was about 2 students who are super ambitious and competitive. But the situation felt dragged out and I just felt it all tied up too perfectly in the end, especially for everything happening in 24hrs.

I enjoyed Molly’s writing and her characters which is why I didn’t DNF the book. I just think the whole timeline is what killed the overall vibe for me.

If you don’t mind a storyline being all of 24hrs and enjoy a sweet sort of enemies to lovers YA romance, this book might be for you.

Under The Lights

Heroes don’t last long around here…

Fall in love with the sexiest girl in New Orleans?

Check.

Prepare to die for her?

Double-check.

Larissa is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.

She’s the rising star of the Pussycat Angels, the hottest burlesque show in the French Quarter.

I’ll never forget the first time I saw her.

The curve of her breast outlined by sparkling rhinestones.

Slim hips wrapped in black fishnets.

Long, dark hair…

She’s the Dark Angel who stole my heart.

Her body is intoxicating, our love overwhelming.

Cat eyes and blood red lips.

Sizzling fingers on white-hot skin.

I couldn’t keep my hands off her…

But her fame had a dark side,

A sinister shadow lurking under the lights.

I would do anything to save her…

He would do anything to see me dead.

Excerpt:

“You’re so good.” Her voice is soft, and she traces her finger along the bandage before lifting her blue eyes to meet mine. “Thank you for buying me lunch. For saving me…”

Without warning, she steps forward and wraps her arms around my waist, pressing her face against my chest, and I don’t hold back. She fits perfectly in my arms, and I inhale the sweet scent of her hair just before I press my lips to the top of her head.

Her voice is muffled against my shirt. “It feels so safe here.”

“Lara,” I whisper in her hair. “I want to keep you safe.”

She pulls back, and I loosen my hold. But she doesn’t leave. She puts her hand against my cheek, lifting her chin as she rises higher on her toes. Hell if I make her work for it.

Leaning forward, I capture her lips. They part, and our tongues meet, curling together as I hug her closer to me. She exhales a little noise, and her fingers thread in the sides of my hair. I trace a line with my lips to her ear.

“I want you so much,” I whisper.

She turns, searching for my mouth, and I kiss her. She fists my shirt in her hands, pulling it up and placing her palm against my bare stomach. I groan deeply, and my hands slide under her ass. I lift her against my chest, and her legs go around my waist. Our kisses are wildfire, fast-moving, lips pulling, hungry for something more. Something just within reach.

She moving subtly against my waist, and the blood rushes downward. I’m hard and she’s riding me, stroking my erection with her crotch.

“Lara,” I groan.

Her lips still, and she holds my cheeks, looking into my eyes. “That night on the catwalk… The way you looked at me…”

My brow collapses at the memory. “You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”

“I only want you to see me.”

Her lips are pink and swollen from my kisses. I lean forward and kiss her again, tasting her like she’s water in the desert. She exhales a little noise, and it’s a charge straight to my cock.

I love her lips. I love her mouth. I want more. I want all of her.

“Does your waist hurt?”

She leans forward, running her nose along my jaw. “Nothing hurts. Everything is amazing.”

So this book took me way longer to read than I had anticipated. :/

My review is definitely more on the unpopular side, so please remember it’s my take on the book. And parts of it may seem like I am being an asshole, but it’s these instances that hurt the book for me.

I had no expectaions going into this book. I know who Cassia is but have never read of any of her books before. Her writing technique was difficult for me to grasp on to; it felt sort of all over the place. Her writing style is new to me and one that I think will need to grow on me.

This book is told from 3 POV’s where two of them are the main characters, Jack and Laurel. The third is Isaac and I am still trying to figure out how he’s play an intricate enough part in this book that requires chapters from his POV at this point in the story. He’s apparently suppose to cause apprehension between Jack and Laurel, but I found the friendship between Laurel and Isaac very lacking and just not believable. There was a 3 week time span that was skipped and we are to assume that this where Laurel and Isaac became closer. Since there is only one time mentioned about their interactions, it was hard to believe anything was there.

Laurel and Jack are an interesting couple. They seem to have this intense love for another and one hell of sex life. But after suffering their great losses, they both have a really tough time dealing with how to move on. Jack delves into finding out the culprits and ignores his wife completely. Laurel isn’t able to talk about that night and pretty much wants to start anew and move forward with her life.

Without going into too much detail about the story, Laurel is very indecisive on her thoughts and actions. One minute she’s needs space and time from Jack and the next she can’t stand being away from him. And yes, I get that she’s suppose to be missing her husband, but she has no backbone with sticking to her guns. She drove me nuts – Jack would want something and she’d initially say no but he’d come back with stipulations and she’d give in. Hell, she went from stating she needed another two weeks before moving back home because she wanted to properly quick her job to the very next day stating that she would be moving back home that the weekend. WTF?!?!

Then there’s Jack and his obsession to find the killer. I found this whole part lacking the intensity it needed til the end. There was no sense of urgency from him on this. He just came across as obsessed and used his abilities to try and find the killer. I was just annoyed with Jack and thought he saw his wife as no more than a piece of property and just his fuck toy to avoid dealing with talking things out. I didn’t feel any love from him towards Laurel at all.

So yea, had this story not picked up in the last 15-20%, I am not sure I could have rated it a 3 star. The majority of the book played out like a couple who was separated and needed to work on things. There was no drama or angst and definitely hardly any suspense. There were very few sex scenes that were hot, but most that were mentioned were glazed over, however you got the idea that there sex life was pretty off the charts, smoking hot.

Overall, it is fairly well written. The majority of the book was about a couple going through separation. For me, the part was pretty boring. Had it not been for the curiosity of where Jack’s obessions was going and how Isaac played into this whole thing, I would not have finished the book. The last 15% definitely had me interests more piqued and had me turning the pages and helped move the book to 3 stars.

Let’s hope we don’t have to wait long for the next book!

The Wright Secret by K.A. Linde…Blog Tour & Review

A new brother’s-best-friend stand alone romance by USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

I was just his best friend’s little sister.

But he was always more than that to me.

After twelve years of pining over Patrick’s easy smile, baby blues, and captivating charm, I decide to take matters into my own hands—and completely blow my chance.

Who knew a self-proclaimed manwhore would decide to be a gentleman the first time I’m naked in his bed? Definitely, not me. But when I land there again, neither of us has any intention of stopping.

There’s only one problem: nobody can know. Especially not my three older brothers. If they found out, all hell would break loose.

So I’m willing to keep our secret. Because I want him Wright here, right now.

I am really enjoying this series more now than I did when it first started. And it just could be that I am enjoying each sibling more and more, but whatever it is, I am liking that these books continue to get better!!

The Wright Secret is Morgan’s story. She’s taking over her brother, Jensen’s position as CEO of their family’s company, something she has worked extremely hard for. This has been her goal in life since she realized what she wanted to become. Now she’s after her dream – Patrick. Except, he’s her brothers’ best friend and he has never once looked at her as anything but a mini Wright. And it never helped that Morgan is Patrick’s sister’s best friend. SO yea, totally friend-zoned from the start.

Morgan has set her sites on Patrick and showing him who she really is. However, Patrick has this preconceived idea that Morgan is way too good for him and that they can never be more than friends – it would only cause problems amongst him and the Wright brothers. But sometimes you just can’t fight in the inevitable.

I have to say, that I really enjoyed how Kyla plotted this story out. The whole book doesn’t surround the love story of Morgan and Patrick. The job has always been Morgan’s first love and it’s not in Morgan’s character to just change for a guy and Kyla sticks to that. The job is still a huge part of this story and that pairs perfectly with the battles that Morgan faces. Kyla ties everything together perfectly and the story just flows so smoothly.

This is my favorite book so far in this series. We get to see everyone else from previous books and how things are moving along for them. We are introduced to a few new characters in this book and I am really hoping that in the future two certain gentleman get their owns books (HINT HINT). But I am ecstatic learn that the baby of the family, Sutton, is getting her book (2 actually) next!! YAY!!!
