Another smashing hit by Erin Noelle!

Transparent is the follow-up to Translucent. You must read Translucent in order to understand Transparent. Even though alot of this is book is about Madden, it’s a continuation of his story with Blake.

Erin doesn’t hold anything back with the suspense, action and drama in this book. This is probably the first book with the least amount of sex scenes but the intensity is just awesome!

I won’t go into any of the plot except to say it’s one hell of a ride. I mean we’re talking mafia here. However, Raze will make you want to become a part of the mafia – he’s one alpha I won’t have a problem with.

Erin definitely showed off her writing skills and proves why she’s just not a romance writer. This book flowed beautifully – not just in the pace but also with the structure. She blended the romantic parts perfectly with all the suspense. Nothing felt out of place and everything just fell into place.

If you’re looking for a romance that digs deeper and gives you substance – this is one series you must read.

His turbulent blue gaze cuts around the room until they land on where I’m curled up in a ball in the corner of the room, and when I don’t jump up right away, he begins to stalk in my direction.

If you have read anything by Aleatha, then you know that you are in for one hell of a ride. And she doesn’t disappointment us with Betrayal.

Betrayal is the first installment in the Infidelity series (please don’t be fooled by the name). In true Aleatha fashion, her stories are gripping, suspenseful and never true to the typical romance story.

I don’t want to give too much away about this story – I hate ruining books for others. I will tell you this is told from Alex’s POV and goes back and forth between Past (6 weeks ago) and Present.

Alex has been raised in a very affluent family. She has had a privileged life. But with those privileges came strings. She has graduated Stanford and is now being called home by her mother. She is a very strong and determined woman. I don’t think anyone else could endure what she has gone through in life.

Nox is the man Alex meets while vacationing after graduation and before returning home. Her is a man who knows what he wants and goes after it. But he’s definitely met his match in Alex. They both agree to one week – no more. And they must abide by rules they set.

And that is all you are getting from me about the story. Aleatha always delivers the most unique and page-turning stories. This story isn’t as dark or twisted as her others, but it still has the element of “holy shit.”

The book does end in a cliffhanger, but Aleatha is giving us the next installment within 3-4 months so there isn’t a huge wait to see what happens.

Aleatha has most definitely sucked me in to this series. I can’t wait to see where everything goes.

The first book took me by surprise in so many ways. This book gutted me. Ugly horrible, snot dripping tears. But it also kept me at the edge of my seat.

Alexa Loved starts off where Alexa Crushed ended and things just take off from there.

Alexa and Devin have graduated and are trying to start a new together. However, Ethan isn’t going to give up on Alexa quite so easily.

This very unique love triangle is the least of their worries though. Ethan’s neurotic and crazy step-mom adds herself into the mix and causes a lot of headaches for them all. Plus, we still have that teeny, tiny MicroSD popping up in the background causing Alexa to stay on her toes.

There is a lot of suspense and mystery going on in this book but T.R. brings it all together so perfectly. But let’s not forget the crazy, hot sex scenes. Oh hot damn! Let’s just say T.R. knows how to not only show the hot part but make it very sensual in the same manor.

T.R. has a way with words. She is able to put them to paper (technically tap it out on her keyboard) and bring us a beautiful, heart breaking story full of suspense. I am thrilled that we will be getting more books of this series in the future. There’s a character that I am particularly curious about – Viper. I need to know more about this man – he has definitely piqued my interest and I need more!

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend reading this series. It’s one series you won’t be disappointed with.

I have really come to love Meghan Quinn and her writing. She gets the right amount of suspense and laughter to make the book so enjoyable.

Repentance is a book about second chances. It’s about living in the present and not allowing your past to dictate who you are or what happens in the future.

We met Kace Hayood in Meghan’s Bourbon series. He’s the man behind the scenes in Jett’s business. Kace wants to help others get that second chance in life and better themselves. And after working with Jett on his previous business, he is going to run the new community center, Justice.

However, Kace has his own past and demons. He believes that he doesn’t deserve that second chance in life but helping others is his way of coping. He’s only had one person stand by him his whole life – Jett. Until Lyla.

Lyla is a feisty and confident woman. She knows that there is something between her and Kace. And she refuses to walk away from him without a fight.

The interactions between Kace and Lyla are fierce and explosive – both in and out of the bedroom. And like with all Meghan Quinn books, you have that hilarious and quirky comedic dialogue that has you dying of laughter.

This book seemed a bit more intense than others books I have read by Meghan and I really, really enjoyed that I could see another side to her writing. And when you are able to make me go from laughing to crying (in public!), just by words, I truly believe that shows the strength in an author’s writing.

Another hit for Meghan Quinn!!!!

Side note – I am hoping we may get some books on Blane and Diego – HINT HINT!!! LOL

So I am probably one of the few who has not read One to Hold prior to this. And because I am a huge fan of paranormal, I am actually glad that I didn’t. I had no idea what to expect going into this. And I absolutely loved every bit of this book.

It started off with some hot and heavy scenes and only pulled me into the story from there. Melissa is a hybrid, not a complete vampire yet. Derek is a vampire hunter. And that is all I am saying about that.

They’re lives become intertwined in ways they never expected. It’s a suspenseful and erotic story that will keep you glued to the pages. I can’t say there was a lot of mystery as it was pretty easy to figure out certain things but the way Tia wrote the story, you were still captivated by everything going on. The storyline was very unique with the paranormal twist. And the sex scenes were written very well – hot damn!!!

I honestly wish this wasn’t a standalone book. I would have loved to see this go into a series with each book based on different characters. But seeing as this book was apparently the same as One to Hold series but with just a paranormal twist, I don’t think it would be a smart move. I love that Tia did this as a standalone for that very reason – she did a great job tying everything together in one book.

If you love a good paranormal romance with no cliffhangers or continuing stories, you will really enjoy this book.

Derek’s eyes are on my mouth. I’m breathing so fast, I can see my chest rising and falling as he slams my body against the wall. Pinned again, he looks hard into my eyes before claiming me roughly, forcing my lips apart, and finding my tongue.

A little noise squeaks from my throat. I don’t know why he’s treating me so roughly. I grasp his shoulders, following his movements with mine, hearing his heart beating faster like mine. His blood heats in my veins and moisture pools between my legs. Even frightening and angry, I want him so much.

Without speaking, he takes my hand and leads me to the bed. He lifts my wet dress over my head and steps to drop it in the empty tub, pausing a moment to quickly discard his own wet shirt and jeans. I watch him mesmerized as he takes an oversized towel off the ledge and returns to me. He’s gloriously nude, the low light deepening the lines on his chest and stomach, his enormous cock fully erect.

Touching my hair with the towel, he gives it a few squeezes then spreads it on the bed behind me. Anger mixed with desire is in his eyes. He lifts me and pushes me onto my back then grips my thighs, shoving them open. Immediately, he begins to kiss and lick my center. His soft lips and velvet tongue move slowly over my clit as his beard scrapes the delicate skin of my legs.

This my first book that I have read by Emma Hart. And I promise is wasn’t intentional either. And it won’t be my last.

First off I must say you can definitely read this book as a standalone in the series and not be lost at all. However, there are previous characters in this book so if you do not want to know how those characters ended up where they are, do not read this. Otherwise, you are good to go.

I really enjoyed reading about Jessie and Aiden. These two are obviously from the same area and went to the same school. And yes, they had their fair share of run-ins, but neither saw the other as anything more than just that – classmates.

The dynamics between these two is amazing. They are like oil and water yet they both know how to set a spark in the other. They challenge each other in ways no one else has. They don’t put up with the other’s bull either. And they hide nothing – what you see is what you get. Except the lie they are telling the world…..and themselves.

“I fell in love with my lie.”

I truly loved watching this entire relationship blossom. The interactions between Jessie and Aiden had me laughing so hard at times. And seeing them both with their families, it just really made the story so much more real.

Emma really know how to make a story feel very real and true to life. I enjoyed reading about the other brothers and it makes me want to go back and read their books to see how they got to where they are.

Great series and I am looking forward to reading more of this series and more from this author.

Kit groaned at the sound of her phone. Reaching out blindly toward the nightstand, she hurled mental curses upon herself for forgetting to turn it off so she could catch some uninterrupted sleep before her four-a.m. makeup call.

It’d be fun and great for her career, her agent had said when recommending Kit take the superhero flick. Coming off two serious and emotionally wrenching projects, Kit had taken Harper’s advice and jumped on board the high-budget, high-octane venture. Unfortunately, Harper had forgotten to mention the four hours it would take to put her into the head-to-toe makeup required for the role. Daily.

“What?” she snarled into the phone without checking to see who it was.

“Hey, Katie.”

Every cell in her body snapped wide awake. Lifting her eyelids, she just stared at the ceiling through gritty eyes. Her heart thumped, her throat moving convulsively as she swallowed. She hated that he could still do this to her, hated it, but her visceral response to Noah wasn’t something she could stop. She knew because she’d tried for the past two years and three months.

“Noah,” she said flatly. “Do you know what time it is?”

“Two fifteen,” he answered.

Kit should’ve hung up. God, he’d hurt her. So much. But there was something in his voice that had her sitting up. “Are you drunk?” One thing she knew about Noah: no matter his bad-boy rep, he was never wasted. He might give a good indication of it, but look closely and those dark gray eyes were always sober.

“Probably.” A silence, followed by, “I just wanted to hear your voice. Sorry for waking you.”

“Wait,” she said when he would’ve hung up. “Where are you?”

“Some dive.” He took a deep breath, released it in a harsh exhale. “I’m sorry for being an asshole. I wanted to tell you that. I don’t want to go without saying that.”

“Noah,” she said, a horrible feeling in her stomach. “Where exactly are you?”

“The Blue Flamingo Inn off Hollywood Boulevard. Far, far, far off.” He laughed, and it held no humor. “It has a neon sign of a blue—surprise!—flamingo that’s flashing right through my window. Looks like someone stole the curtains.”

Having already grabbed her laptop, which she’d left beside the bed after answering some e-mails before sleep claimed her, she found the Blue Flamingo Inn. But Noah was already gone, having said, “I love your voice, Kit,” in an oddly raw tone before hanging up.

He didn’t pick up when she called back.

“Damn it! Damn it!” She shoved aside the blanket under which she’d been buried, having turned the AC to ice-cold as she usually did at night. Shivering, she tugged on a pair of jeans and an old sweatshirt over the panties and tank top in which she’d gone to sleep.

Pulling her black hair into a rough ponytail to keep it out of her eyes, she ran through the house, phone in one pocket, credit card and driver’s license in the other. In the kitchen, she grabbed her keys off the counter and shoved her feet into the tennis shoes by the door that led to the garage.

She was in her car and on the way to the motel three minutes after Noah had hung up, mouth dry and an ugliness in her gut. “Please be okay, please be okay, please be okay,” she kept saying, the mantra doing nothing to calm her down, but at least it kept her mind focused.

She wanted to call Molly and Fox, or the others in the band, but no one was currently in the city. Schoolboy Choir had completed the final show in the band’s hugely successful tour just over two weeks earlier. Day after that, they’d all gone their separate ways to recharge and regroup.

“Much as I love these guys,” David had said with a grin that reached the dark gold of his eyes, “I’ve been looking at their ugly mugs daily for months. We need to go blow off some steam separately before we start snarling at each other.”

At the time, Kit had nodded in understanding, having had that same experience while working on location for long periods. Tonight, however, she wished the others were all here, not scattered across the country, because something was very wrong with Noah.

“Noah doesn’t do drugs,” she told herself as she drove as fast as she dared, not wanting to risk getting pulled over and further delayed. “He isn’t the kind to—” She couldn’t say it, couldn’t even think of Noah ending his life. “No,” she said firmly, her hands white-knuckled on the steering wheel. “Noah isn’t like that.”

REVIEW

Rock Redemption is the perfect name for this book.

Noah is the elite asshole of all assholes. I will be honest, I am still not a fan of Noah’s. Once an asshole, always an asshole. But in Kit’s eyes he redeemed himself.

I won’t tell you what happens before, after or during because I don’t feel you will get the true point of this book and that is to feel everything this author has written. I will tell you that I felt a lot of emotions throughout this book. Nalini wrote a tough plot but wrote it amazingly well.

Noah has secrets – demons he is fighting. Kit is friends with everyone in the band so not being around Noah isn’t an option to her. This book is a very slow moving romance. It revolves around these two building their friendship and learning about Noah and his secrets.

I really enjoyed this read even though I am not a huge fan of Noah. But I have said it other reviews, regardless if I hate or love a character, if an author is able to pull strong emotions from me, that author has done a great job with her writing.

Many will have issues with Noah, but again, if an author is able to piss you off that much about a character – that right there tells you the book is really good.

I am looking forward to reading more from Nalini and her beautiful mind!

Kirsty, you have definitely redeemed yourself with this book!! I read this first book in this series and wasn’t really thrilled with it. I almost didn’t want to read this book because of the first book but felt that everyone always deserves a second chance. And I am sooooo glad that I did.

Trigger starts off with some jaw-dropping action and doesn’t let up from that. It just gets better and better and even more suspenseful as the book goes on.

“Never forget the devil was once an angel.”

Dante is a lethal man – in many different ways. He doesn’t apologize for who he is or what he does. And he doesn’t expect anyone to just walk away from his life and not be scarred by it.

Ryleigh lost her parents at a young age but doesn’t remember much about them. Now as an adult, she has made her mission to find out what happened to her family and give her self peace finally.

I love how Ryleigh challenges Dante. She gives him a run for his money. She may look like a mouse – but remember all mice have seen the worst of things and they know how to defend themselves.

This story is full of suspense, action, romance and some pretty hot sex scenes. I love how it’s told from both Dante and Ryleigh’s POV’s too. We see how each of them are going through things. We understand what they are feeling and gives us a better insight to their actions.

Kirsty does a great job of keeping the book flowing at a the right pace. You are never once confused as to what is going on. However, I will say that because the author is from the UK, some will words and phrases are a tad different and may come across differently (hopefully editing may fix this). And that’s my only quirk with this book and the writing – seeing as how the characters are supposedly from America, writing as though they speak and think has to stay American – otherwise it was sort of takes away from the character’s persona.

Again, I will say that this book truly surprised me and I really enjoyed it. I personally feel that the author grew with this book. It feels way more constructed and the delivery was much better. I am really glad I chose to read another book by her.

As I pull her against my body, swaying to the music, I gaze down at her, and now my breathing shallows. The voice that whispers to me is unknown, dipped in disguise, and doused in addictive tones. It whispers the seed of madness that consumes me – fall in love.

But as always, I decide to stop the thought from burrowing any fucking deeper.

“This is lust, not love, cara. It’s what has you so confused. Lust mimics love to trick a naïve heart.” I keep the conviction strong in my voice, forcing her to understand what it is I want. We may have had this conversation before, but it didn’t do much to heed her rapid emotions. “I’ve never felt lust like this, and I know I never will again, which is why I brought you here. I want tonight to end with you screaming my name. I want to claim you as mine and make you realize I don’t do love.”

“I know you don’t,” she replies, bitterness edges her words. “You don’t need to worry, Dante. I know why you want me here. I got the message loud and clear, but if you think you’re getting into my panties quite so soon, you can think again. My motives here aren’t sexual. That’s just an added bonus.” She narrows her gaze on me, the pupils shrinking as she calmly responds to me. “I think the other evening proved a lot to us. I allowed you to have my entire body, and while I loved the way you commanded me, I won’t give it to you so easily. You’ve had a taste of it, Dante. You can work for another round.”

“I don’t have to do anything,” I respond dryly, ire heating me. “I could have any girl I wanted. I don’t have to wait for you to put out.”

She takes a step back, breaking our connection.

“Go on then,” she tells me, her voice strong. “Go and have any girl willing to give it up to you as easy as I did.” She doesn’t come back to me. “I’m going to the bar, so you go and find a girl as willing as I am to adhere to your sadistic requests.”

I used to be just another Fanfiction writer! That was until one person showed real interest in my work. And then another, and then another, until I had this whole group of people reviewing like crazy and wanting original work from me. I’d spent years writing for free online, I didn’t believe I had it in me to publish something!

But I’m glad I did!! I never imagined pushing my work and striving to reach my ultimate. I never imagined I’d be the girl who started The Viper Rooms! But who am I to deny the inspiration when it hits?

I love writing, it’s a lifeline. I love creating a world that others fall into. I love having the control to make a whole new world. It’s like a dependency, an addictive one. It’s one of the things I’m extremely proud of.

As much as I complain, I love the mini dialogues that go on in my head, the plotlines that attack me when I least expect them to. The ones that jump to life at the most inappropriate times and drive me totally crazy!!

For now I split my life between writing, dreaming, working, and volunteering with children.

REVIEW

This is probably the most difficult review that I have to write. Not because I can’t find the words or I am still reeling from the book. But because I absolutely love Jen Frederick and any books she writes but also this series has been a favorite of mine. Til this book. UGH

I really loved the plot. The beginning and ending of this book was so great. It was the middle part and Ava that just didn’t do it for me.

Ava seemed so strong and determined at the very beginning to rescue her friend. She had her wits about her and understood what truly the possible outcome was – she wasn’t being naïve about anything. And she held her own throughout the book. But when it came to Rafe and her, I just couldn’t connect there.

Rafe and his men had been watching her for some time and she stirred something in Rafe that was foreign to him. But he knew what there mission was and couldn’t get distracted. He’s a mercenary – hired for a job and kill whomever necessary to complete the task.

I totally understand Rafe’s reaction to Ava – he’s been watching her for a bit of time and his feelings have been there for quite some time. Ava only just met him and her feelings are exactly the same for him?? HUH?? No – just no. I can’t fathom that, I honestly and truly can’t, even for a book. I get that some things will be slightly unreal bit a few days, sorry I can’t see it. And then she’s more worried about other “issues” than saving her friend, completely contradicts who she was in the beginning of the book. Yes, Ava has inner dialogue with herself about Stockholm syndrome, etc but that still doesn’t make it any better (for me).

The last 30-33% was really good and kept me intrigued to see what would happen and where things would end up. Rafe acted the way I expected him to. It was real and honest – he’s a mercenary. I really enjoyed the action an suspense in this book. That’s what kept me glued to it.

Overall – the plot and suspense was really good. The sex scenes were good and in-tune with these characters (read the book and you’ll understand what I mean). However the whole romance part just seemed to rush and too unrealistic for me. Those parts deflated the book and caused it get a lower rating from me.

Jen and Jessica are phenomenal authors. Outside of the romance issue for me, everything flowed well.

But I am looking forward to reading more from them both.

LAST HOPE EXCERPT

The ricochet of the bullet has swollen my eye shut. I might be slightly concussed from the free fall from six thousand feet into the jungle. I’ve no clue where we are and we have no supplies, but I’ve never been happier than when Ava stuck her tits into my face. Those babies felt like the softest pillows ever created and I would’ve been happy to suffocate in damp valley of cleavage. Maybe I’d even get the chance to lick her sweat away.

I might have groaned and pretended my injury was worse to lengthen the moment. Her delicate hands smoothed over my forehead and, it may have been my imagination, but it seemed liked she might’ve lingered over my hair. Dig in, I want to grunt.

“What the heck is that sound?” Ava clutches me to her.

If I don’t answer, does that mean I can stay in this position forever? Because I want to. Actually, no, I’d like to move over and suck one fat tit into my mouth until it’s hard as a diamond. Then I’d like to slide down until my mouth is level with her pussy and see how salty sweet she tastes between her legs. The beast between my legs roars to life and it’s a good thing that the monkeys above us scream again, causing her to jump and strike my good eye with her elbow. The pain serves as a reminder of where we are, who I am, and what the fuck I should be paying attention to.

“It’s the howler monkey. They sound like humans screaming or sometimes like the jaguar. They’re kind of dumb and if we found Afonso’s gun, we’d be able to kill one and have meat every night for a week.”

She shudders. “I don’t want to eat monkey.”

The jungle is hot and wet during the day and cold at night. If the mosquitos don’t eat you alive, the jaguars and anacondas might. Not very many people can crash-land into the middle of the Amazon and make it out alive, but I’m upping our odds from around 20 percent to 50 percent based on Ava’s positive attitude. Unless my eye heals up, I’m not giving us more than that. If we could find the Boy Scout bag, though, we could bring our odds up significantly.

“There’s plenty of food in the Amazon from plantains to fish, so if you don’t like monkey, we won’t eat it.”

She shudders again. “Thank you.”

“You a vegetarian?”

No, that couldn’t be right. Didn’t she eat some prosciutto at the café? But I want to hear it from her. I want to know everything about her.

“No, but for some reason eating something that screams like a human freaks me out.”

“Monkey is off the menu,” I say, making no attempt to move away from her rack. “I have a knife in my belt.”

“Do you have anything else besides the knife?” she asks. Her tone is accusatory like I’m holding out on her.

“No,” I say slowly. “Just the knife.”

She narrows her eyes and then reaches out with her good hand and pokes my waistline. “What about that?”

“My pants? I don’t think that they’d fit you or they’d be a good weapon. Besides, I’d rather my legs didn’t get eaten by mosquitos.”

“Look, if you just plan on leaving me behind, then do it now. Don’t string me along.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Just my luck to perv on a crazy woman.

“That!” she spits out, and this time her finger jabs lower, right into the meat of my dick. I flinch back. “I can tell you’re packing something. What’s that thing in your pocket?”

“None of your fucking business,” I growl out, my happy feeling sucked away. I can feel the heat rising in my face that has nothing to do with the humidity. I will my erection to subside but as she stares at it, it does nothing but grow.

“Oh my god. Is that a . . . that’s not a gun, is it?” Her lips part in shock.

“No.” The erection isn’t going to go down anytime soon. Not with her eyes wide with wonder. She raises her gaze to me and then drops back down again, and hell if she doesn’t lick her fucking lips. I turn away, unzip, and then pull the shaft straight up behind the waistband of my cargo pants. I fasten the zipper, carefully, and then pull my T-shirt down over the top. It hides most of the problem. “Let’s go.”

“I’m sorry,” she mumbles.

I surge to my feet, catching her off guard. She stumbles back and thankfully stops staring at my junk. “Enough,” I growl more roughly than I intend. “We have important things to concentrate on, like where are we going to sleep for the night.”

She looks stricken and nods in agreement. “Sorry, I just was taken by surprise. You don’t have to tell me what’s in your pocket if you don’t want to. But I need to remind you that we’re in this together.”

I feel like an ass. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry that she thinks my dick is fake. That’s a new one.

Jennifer Foor, you are simply amazing!!! However, this book had me seeing red I was pissed off!! And I mean that in the nicest way possible. LOL

Let’s just I really hate Grayson. He’s an asshole in my book. Jennifer wrote a character that I absolutely can’t stand – I have nothing but sheer anger towards.

Rachel – I am 50/50 on her. I get how she feels. She goes back and forth on things. But she goes and does the same thing as her husband. So is she just as shitty as he is.

Ok – now that I got my bitchfest over about those two – let me tell you that I absolutely love that Jennifer holds nothing back in this story. It’s true to life, it’s raw and real. There isn’t any sugar coating. This story will have you pissed off and mad; yet you will find yourself warring over who you to be together. What outcome you really want.

I know I may not care for the characters. Wait – let me rephrase that. I don’t care for the decisions they made but my reaction to them is a good thing. Jennifer was able to make me feel something that fierce with her writing. Jennifer wrote an honest and true story.

I didn’t get to read the first book in this series, but I am definitely going to fix that.

I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to more.

My wife didn’t want to see me, and who could blame her? I’d fucked up. I’d let a little ass ruin my marriage, and that’s exactly what it was coming to. Rachel was a strong-willed woman. She was set in her ways and liked being in control of the situation. I admired her strength, and the way she was able to manage multiple problems at once. This though, this broke her. I saw it in her desperate eyes. She was broken – lost – destroyed, all because I couldn’t keep my dick in my pants. I saw an opportunity to feel young again and I dove right in, knowing the consequences would bite me in the ass at some point. I made the decision out of greed. I wanted to feel empowered; like I was able to get someone young and attractive. For a little while I felt like the king of the world. I thought I’d get away with it. The more it happened, the harder it was to imagine getting caught.
