I have to say, Emma Hunter rocks it with her debut book, Subject X.
When I read the blurb, I was definitely intrigued to see how this would play out. Some have marked this as a paranormal book, but it’s definitely not. This is definitely more Sci-Fi/Fantasy and it’s quite interesting.
Owen is a subject at Genesis where Charlotte just started working as a research assistant. Owen is quite unique – he has a gift. Only two people know about it…until Charlotte.
Will she be able to see past this? Will she be scared and run? What happens in their relationship?
The instant attraction is obvious to both Owen and Charlotte. Their relationship does move at a faster pace and Charlotte finds herself questioning a lot of what she is doing. But at the same time, she finds it hard saying no to Owen. And Owen finds it hard to keep himself away from Charlotte. Neither can explain the electricity they feel but they aren’t going to deny it either.
As things heat up quickly between Owen and Charlotte, things at Genesis are also getting sticky and more uneasy. Charlottes’ boss is acting more on edge and not himself.
Does Charlotte chance putting her job at risk to see exactly what her boss is up to? Or does she let things lie and chance her relationship with Owen?
What I love about this book is that there are so many variables in play. It’s not just about the romance, but about the science behind everything. I was highly pulled into the whole plot and kept wanting to know what was going to happen and what the outcome would be.
I have to say, I was not expecting that ending. I actually had chills go up my body with that ending. I am definitely hoping we don’t have to wait long for the next book in this series.
All in all – great debut by Emma Hunter.

“Mm…” Aphrodite swung her long legs over the side of the enormous bed and stretched her arms above her head. “That was wonderful.” Curly auburn hair the color of autumn leaves spilled down the pale skin of her naked spine as she turned and cast a coy look over her shoulder. “You get better and better, Damianos.”
The two naked nymphs who’d joined them scurried off the bed and rushed out of the room. Aphrodite pushed to her feet, all long lines and perfect curves, and crossed to the chaise.

The title fits this book perfectly – this is a Slow and Steady love story.
We met Greyson in Bait & Switch, so it’s nice to see his story.
Finley is the widow of one Greyson’s Navy SEAL mates, Marcus and has been trying to keep it together.
These two meet at an unexpected place and Grey feels that need to make sure that Finley and her daughter are doing ok since he carries the burden of Marcus’ death. However, Finley is not one to allow someone who is angry with her husband passing become apart of their lives after all this time.
I really enjoyed the plot of this book. I was hoping for more on the stalker front and was slightly let down when happened a little too quickly. But it did force Greyand Finley to come together.
The pace of this this book is perfect and everything is definitely a slow build. I really like that Kendall made the book not just about Grey and Finley but also included Maple, Finley’s little girl. It gave the book a more realistic feeling to it.

It was nine o’clock on a Saturday night and I was totally out of my fucking element. A bottle of red wine tucked under one arm. A bouquet of wild flowers in the other. Every time I have tried to write this review, I start to cry. It’s not because Season Two has come to and end. It’s what this episode is about.
One of the sorority girls is raped in this episode. This is never an easy subject to handle or even read about it. Kandi does a commendable job on writing about this. She doesn’t sugarcoat it but she also gets the point across that unfortunately rape happens a lot more than people realize at colleges around the country. And her statistics at the end will shock you.
Without taking away from the prominent message Kandi wants us to see, this episode is her best to date. The sorority girls are starting to grow up. They are beginning to open their eyes to the bigger picture. They are realizing that together, they are a force to be reckon with.
“We may try to handle the world on our shoulders…but we’re a force to be reckoned with. We’re a unit. We’re a family.”
There is a lot that goes down between Cassie, Adam and Grayson; Bear and Shawna; Jess and Jarrett. I am really excited to see what Kandi brings us next season – who returns, who doesn’t. And whomever returns – will they be the same person they were before?

As our smiles settle, I grip the glass a little tighter. “I didn’t come here to celebrate.”
“I figured,” she responds, eyes on her own hands. “Listen, I get it. It was Spring Break, we were both drinking. It’s all good.”
I cock a brow, setting my glass down on the kitchen island. It’s Sunday night and the house is mostly quiet, save for the faint sound of giggling coming from the rooms upstairs.

How do I write this review and not give anything and everything away!?!
This story is about Hayden and his road to recovery. We know in the last book he tried killing himself. It’s now been a year and he is continuing to still heal.
Vi and Hayden briefly met at the soft opening of Rey and Liam’s pub but have not seen each other since. The night of the annual gala, they run into each other again and things continue from there.
Hayden – GAH. He ripped out my soul with this book. Reliving his past is raw and gritty. Suicide is ugly – and to watch how someone comes to that decision is just devastating. But watching someone love again is absolutely amazing.
Amy has written a fabulous story. It’s about learning to love yourself again, finding strength and moving forward. Vi and Hayden both have their own obstacles to overcome.
The old gang is all in this book but we also get to meet some new one’s – Vi’s hot football (soccer) brothers. Her brothers are going to be quite interesting getting to know – which I am hoping we do in another series.
That One Moment is full of moments that will have you crying, laughing and smiling. Amy just seems to grow and grow with each book.
I look forward to reading more from her.

To ask me to just walk away when a prat like Ethan Simmons worms himself within inches of your mouth…your fucking mouth that I’ve touched with my lips…lips that I have claimed as mine in a thousand different fantasies…No, Vi. No. I’m not going to be sorry for that.”
“But you said—”
“Stuff what I said. I can’t stay away from you.” The words rush out of his mouth as he harshly grabs me by the waist. His bruising, firm grip shoves up the stretchy fabric of my top as his lips find mine in a desperate, needy kiss. He greedily yanks the cups of my bra down and caresses my nipples in such a way that I rip my mouth away from his and let out a strangled cry. I’m not all together certain I’ve ever heard that sound come from my mouth before.
He releases my nipples to pull my top off over my head, revealing my lacey red bra tucked firmly beneath my breasts, pushing them up for his lustful perusal. He drops an open mouthed kiss on each of them before standing back up straight. Groaning in frustration, he pauses his assault and looks into my eyes. A warmth blossoms in his gaze as he wraps his arms around me, holding me close. “I’m terrified, Vi…of so much. But I don’t have the strength to walk away from you again. You make me weak.”
I exhale with relief and anxiety over his comment, feeling my emotions at odds. I’ve been wanting Hayden Clarke to let me in since he first kissed me outside my building. But what does it mean when he says he feels weak around me? Am I capable of hurting him? I lick my lips and guide him down to my level. “Maybe with time I can make you strong.”

What happened in chapter 11 – chapter 15?:
Olivia confesses to Lorenzo her conversation with Margie, and tells him everything that happened with Jay, including the recent texts that’s she ignored. Olivia ends up blocking Jay on everything – her phone, e-mail, all of her social media.
Lorenzo is out golfing with Olivia’s brothers when they start talking about Olivia’s boss, Elton Hollingsworth. Olivia had briefly mentioned him to Lorenzo before, saying he was a silent partner and she just owed him money for the truck. But her brothers don’t like him and they confront Olivia about still having any sort of contact with him.
Knowing that they were talking about him to Lorenzo, Olivia decides to tell Lorenzo the whole truth about Elton and the offers he’s made her in the past, exchanging sex to remove some of her debt. Lorenzo explains to her that it’s sexual harassment and inappropriate, and Olivia agrees to ask Elton to stop coming by the truck and inviting to her lunch when he doesn’t ask any of the other girls he works with.
One day Elton shows up with a puppy – the kind of dog she’s always wanted to have. He tells her it’s a no strings attached puppy, and he paid for it several months ago and she should have it anyway.
Then Jay shows up. Margie is missing.
Not knowing anything about what happened that day with Elton and Jay, Lorenzo accepts a temporary deployment – he’ll only be gone for a couple of days.

She’s done it again! Jessica has pulled me into another world that I love and need to know more about! I couldn’t read this book fast enough!! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
Nameless is the first book in Jessica’s newest series. It’s a world like we have never known or read about it. It’s a world where humans are the bottom of the food chain and The Grim rule everything.
Allura is a Nameless. She is clueless to what is happening around her. She is rescued by three men but she is very hesitant to trust them. Her interactions with others has never been positive, to say the least.
The trio of men and Allura are on their way to the Broken City and try to uncover more things as to who she is and why she is so unique. It’s on these travels that many things happen and we learn so much about this world. I can’t say for sure if Jessica plans on adding any sort of romance into this book (it’s so good without it!) but if she were to add it and lean towards a particular one, my vote is for Blaise. Just saying.
What I absolutely love about this book – is how we learn about this whole, unique and different this world is – through the eyes of Allura. She is seeing everything for the first time and it’s so interesting to view it from her perspective.
I have no idea how many books the author plans to write in this series (I am praying more than 2), but I am hoping she is giving us a ton because I can easily get so lost in this story for a LONG time.
I can’t wait for Forsaken to come out, which thankfully we don’t have to wait too long for.
