There are risks to mixing business with pleasure…

IF A MAN HAS AN AFFAIR AT WORK, HE’S A STUD.

He was a royal prick.

The night we met, he ignored me.

Then Mr. Big Shot CEO grabbed my ass in a business meeting.

My boss just loaned me out to this guy.

Now, we’re working on a major project together.

And our chemistry is dangerous.

Combustible.

If I allow it to ignite, I’ll risk losing that promotion.

Worse, what if I lose myself in him?

IF A WOMAN HAS AN AFFAIR AT WORK, SHE’S A SLUT.

From the moment I saw her I knew she was trouble.

It was the combination of her fresh face, smart mouth and nipples that seemed to know my name.

This woman could satisfy my needs both in the boardroom and the bedroom.

But there was more to it than that.

I wanted her.

Really wanted her.

And I was in the position to change the course of her life.

But I’ve got secrets, secrets that could destroy her.

And either make her mine or drive her away forever.

Slave to Love: Chapter One

By Julie A. Richman

© 2015 Julie A. Richman

I am a slave. Seriously, I am. My shackles may not be what you’re envisioning, as unfortunately, they are not crafted from leather with a hot, sexy dominant on the other end, flogger in hand. But they are trendy and cool and golden. Yes, my handcuffs are golden and they come with stock options, a 401(k), oodles of frequent flyer miles and hotel points and an Admiral’s Club membership at the airport. I wear my handcuffs 24/7.

And I have no freaking idea where the key is.

*****

Eight-twenty A.M. and I already need an effing shower. Ugh. Running late for an eight-thirty A.M. meeting. I thought a cab ride would be the answer and certainly cooler and quicker than walking, or God forbid, taking the dreaded subway on a sweltering Manhattan morning. But no. I emerge from the cab, with my now translucent white silk blouse pretending it’s a soggy second skin gearing up for our fabulous win in today’s “Who’s Got the Perkiest Nipples” contest. Shoot me. Just shoot me.

As I slide sideways into an elevator, the doors already half closed, I have the distinct honor of joining two techy nerd boys returning from their eight-fifteen A.M. smoke. Lucky me. The unkempt duo reek of cigarettes, yet I can’t decide which is worse, that, or the stench of their general shoddy hygiene and filthy jeans. Nerd Boy #1 is enjoying my transparent, wet tank blouse and my not-shy nipples. I catch him and he pretends to look at my necklace, a gold mermaid, just grazing my cleavage.

The door opens on my floor. Eight twenty-six. I’m not late yet. On my way out of the elevator, I lean over and whisper to Nerd Boy #1, “Great necklace, isn’t it. Would be better if it were pearl.”

I hear him choke as I exit. Schwing.

Review

“One little Maraschino cherry represented so much more.”

Slave to Love will make your insides bubble up with giddiness and happiness.  You can’t help but smile throughout the majority of this book.  I found myself laughing out loud many times from the banter between the characters.  And I absolutely loved the background on the whole story – quite interesting.

“You’ve set the benchmark and you’ve set it high.”

Once you meet Sierra, you will fall in love with her.  She is sassy, smart, witty and a very strong woman.  She’s worked her way up the corporate ladder and she’s not about to put her morals to the side just to move up further.

Hale is WOW.  I don’t even know where to start.  He comes across at first as the typical male with a huge ego.  But we quickly get to see a side of him that he truly surprises even himself.  Sierra is this man’s kryptonite.

“You scare me more than having a gun pointed at my head, close range, although you both hold the power to stop my heart.”

I loved watching these two build a very strong working relationship that buds into something more over time.  The flow of this story is absolutely perfect.  It’s the perfect buildup.  There are a few bumps in the road but what relationship isn’t without it’s ups and downs.

Julie’s writing always pulls me into the story and makes me feel everything.  And now just from the main characters but also the secondary characters.  You get a sense of their protection over their friends.  As I said before, I found myself laughing quite a few times throughout this book.  I really enjoyed the humorous and comical ribbing between everyone.

“No mistake, Hale.  I’m walking out with my dignity.”

Julie wrote another beautiful love story.  Not only will fall you in love with the story, but you will fall in love with these characters.  I am hoping that we get to read a few more stories from  some stand out secondary characters.

Excerpt

I’m really not quite sure what to do with her. She’s not like the women I date. She’s not like the women I fuck. Yeah, I have women in my company, just not in my inner circle. So, I’m not sure how to balance having a close work confidante that I want to bang. So damn bad.

Would it be a bad thing to keep her in the conference room after dismissing the rest of the team, lock the doors, pick her up and seat her on the edge of the conference room table. Feel her melt into my hand as I run my fingertips down the front of her silk tank top. When she shivers, twist her taunting nipples until they harden, then stop and listen to her moan. Would that lost animal sound be coming from what I was doing to her or because I stopped? I wouldn’t wait to find out as I pushed her underwear aside, and harden even more, the moment I feel her wetness. Using her slick juices to moisten her clit, I’d finger her until she is gasping for air and reaching for me. I’d let just her nails and the tips of her finger graze my hard cock as I hang just out of reach. I would totally get off knowing that it is her need to grab me, making her wilder, and that crazed instinctual desire in her eyes would have me titanium hard. I need to be buried deep inside her.

I know my face is portraying a practiced and perfected look of deep concentration when my VP of Product Development asks for the second time, “Can we get the go-ahead on that, Hale?”

Shaking my head and drawing my brows together, “Give me your full brief in writing.” I act as if there’s something bothering me in what he presented, when in actuality I’m just buying time because I didn’t hear a word he said.

Montgomery Ink Book 4.5

The Montgomery Ink series continues with the long-awaited romance between the café owner next door and the tattoo artist who’s loved her from afar.

Hailey Monroe knows the world isn’t always fair, but she’s picked herself up from the ashes once before and if she needs to, she’ll do it again. It’s been years since she first spotted the tattoo artist with a scowl that made her heart skip a beat, but now she’s finally gained the courage to approach him. Only it won’t be about what their future could bring, but how to finish healing the scars from her past.

Sloane Gordon lived through the worst kinds of hell yet the temptation next door sends him to another level. He’s kept his distance because he knows what kind of man he is versus what kind of man Hailey needs. When she comes to him with a proposition that sends his mind whirling and his soul shattering, he’ll do everything in his power to protect the woman he cares for and the secrets he’s been forced to keep.

Excerpt

until he could know for sure that the darkness within him wouldn’t touch Hailey, he had to hold himself back. He’d known he was playing with fire by waiting, by watching for years and never doing more. But she’d held back, too. She’d known it wasn’t the right time yet.

Or maybe he was wrong? Maybe he’d screwed up and now he was about to lose it all. Lose it to someone closer to her age, someone who made her laugh and her eyes sparkle.

Sloane wanted to be the man that made her throw her head back and laugh like that. He wanted to be all of those things and more. But he couldn’t. Not yet. It wasn’t the time, and now it might not ever be the time.

Jesus, his head hurt from going back and forth. He wanted her, he ached for her, but he wasn’t good enough for her. He’d never be pure for her. But at some point he may have to let that go. Realize that while he wasn’t light—instead, darkness—he was still hers. And that would have to be sufficient.

Sloane might not be good enough for Hailey, but damn it, nobody was. This Brody, with his too-gelled hair, wasn’t even close to being what she needed.

“Are we taking a break?” Brody asked as he looked over his shoulder. “Everything looking good back there?”

Maya cleared her throat, and Sloane forced his attention away from Brody and toward the other tattoo station. His other boss and friend pressed her lips together, surprising him. He’d have thought Maya would have a sarcastic quip or something to say about what the hell had just happened. Even Callie stood by Maya’s side, wide-eyed and a little surprised. He didn’t blame the younger woman. For as long as he’d known her, she’d been trying to figure out why he wasn’t with Hailey.

How was he supposed to tell them he wasn’t worthy of the blonde bombshell with secrets of her own? That if he was with her, he’d taint the beauty of her soul, the exquisiteness of her smile. That’s what he did. He brought in the shadows, carved deep inside, and rotted the core of someone because of what he’d done, what he’d seen

Night Hawk by Lindsay McKenna…Blog Tour Stop and author Q&A

nighthawk

Bestselling Author & Founder of Military Romantic Suspense, Lindsey McKenna Shares Her Guilty Pleasure (Chocolate!) and Her Love for Jackson Hole, WY

Be sure to check out her latest release, NIGHT HAWK, available NOW!

Q: What did you choose to set your book in Jackson Hole, Wyoming?

A:  I love the Jackson Hole, Wyoming area, the Grand Tetons National Park is about 12 miles north of the cow town.  And about 40 miles further north is Yellowstone National Park.  I simply love the clean, fresh air, the gorgeous Teton Mountains, the incredible wildlife that you can photograph just from your car.  It’s an exciting area for me and I wanted to infuse my readers with it, as well.

Q: What are some of your guilty pleasures?

A:  Looking forward to the one chocolate I can eat a day.  Sitting so much of the time to write makes for easy weight gain.  I love chocolate, but I won’t indulge in more than one a day.  It’s something I usually look forward to mid-afternoon after finishing my scene or chapter for the day.

About NIGHT HAWK: After losing his comrade, Sergeant Gil Hanford thought a visit to the man’s widow would be the decent way to honor his late friend. But Gil found more than comfort in Kai Tiernan—he had always secretly desired beautiful Kai, but a sudden, mutual passion helped assuage their grief…until duty reared its head, removing him from her arms, seemingly forever.

Four years later, Kai is starting over at the Triple H Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Born a rancher, she is looking for a new beginning—but her new boss is unforgivably familiar. Kai has tried to move past the memory of what happened between her and Gil, even though she’s never forgiven him for leaving her. But even as they begin their journey toward something new and oh-so-uncertain, a shadow emerges, determined to claim Kai for itself.

The Mother Road by Meghan Quinn….Book Tour & Review

We’re celebrating the release of THE MOTHER ROAD by Meghan Quinn!
THE MOTHER ROAD by Meghan Quinn
NA Romantic Comedy
Release date: January 12, 2016
Cover Designed by: Meghan Quinn
 GreetingsFrom
Smiling

Blurb:

Never in a million years would I have pictured myself as an axe-wielding, dragon lady, chopping up multi-colored flannel shirts into my very own plaid mulch. But here I am, chopping away my frustrations.
It all started when my brother, Paul, convinced me to go on one last family road trip across the Mother Road with him and my dad.. Just like old times, right? Wrong. What Paul fails to mention is his best man, Porter, will be joining us, who just so happens to be my childhood crush and the man who broke my heart four years ago.
What is supposed to be a fun, family bonding experience across Route 66 turns into a war of pranks, awkward moments and bathrooms full of dirty flannel shirts and day old beard clippings. Paul’s know-it-all attitude and Porter’s devilish charm brings me to the brink of my sanity on my seven day trek across the United States with three bearded men in a small 1980’s RV.

REVIEW

Meghan Quinn has delivered another huge hit with this book!

The Mother Road is full of the whit, humor and quirky comebacks that Meghan has become known for in her books. But this book will also have you feeling a little melancholy and tearing up – no, not from my laughter but from honest, heartfelt moments.

You know what the book is about, so I won’t rehash that. But I will tell you that Meghan has written some fantastic characters that are so well-rounded and awesome. They are real, honest and damn funny. Marley and Paul have the typical love/hate relationship between brother and sister. Porter just fits in perfectly with this family since he’s practically been raised by Mama McMann. And Bernie, their dad – that man is a hoot! There characters will become your best friends!

Meghan wrote a beautiful, hilarious and very memorable book. Yes, this book is full of laughter with all the jokes, pranks and sarcastic remarks throughout the road trip. But one thing that has absolutely stood out to me in this book, is the nostalgic parts of the book. The memories they all share and the new ones they make. I have not once cried (said of tears of laughter) while reading one of Meghan’s books. I can no longer say that. Meghan made me feel everything with this book. I was hysterically laughing one minute and then later on, I was tearing up from the memories they shared.

Oh yea – and because Marley is a beauty blogger, there are some interesting beauty tips throughout this book. I guarantee as you are read this book, you will be looking up those tips!

The Mother Road is an awesome read. It’s so good – you have to read it. You won’t regret it.

About the Author:

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Overtime has never felt so good…

Marin Rush loves studying sex. Doing it? That’s another story. In the research lab, Marin’s lack of practical knowledge didn’t matter, but now that she’s landed a job at The Grove, a high-end, experimental sex therapy institute, she can’t ignore the fact that the person most in need of sexual healing may be her.

Dr. Donovan West, her new hotshot colleague, couldn’t agree more. Donovan knows that Marin’s clients are going to eat her alive unless she gets some hands-on experience. And if she fails at the job, he can say goodbye to a promotion, so he assigns her a list of R-rated tasks to prepare her for the wild clientele of The Grove’s X-wing.

But some of those tasks are built for two, and when he finds Marin searching for a candidate to help her check off her list, Donovan decides there’s only one man for the job—him. As long as they keep their erotic, off-the-clock activities strictly confidential and without strings, no one will get fired—or worse, get attached…

Excerpt:

Marin moaned when he parted her lips to deepen the kiss, and a swift rush of arousal flooded her, making the neglected parts of her throb and ache. His tongue stroked hers, teasing with a rhythm she could only imagine in other places. Her nipples became hard points, straining for touch, and her sex pulsed between her thighs. She wanted to rub herself on him like a cat, find relief. He seemed ready to oblige. Donovan backed her into the wall, his body aligning with hers and his hand sliding down to knead her hip like he was barely restraining himself from tearing off her clothes. Heat against heat, hardness growing against her belly. She was dying. She needed this. God, did she need this.

But a swift knock sounded behind him, shattering the protected moment and blasting through her lust-drunk brain. Marin gasped, and Donovan jumped back and dropped his hands to his sides like she had burned him.

The door swung open, and Ysa poked her head in. “Hey, guys I—” Her words faded as her gaze bounced between them. “Uh, sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt.”

Poker face. Poker face. Poker face. Marin pushed off the wall and fought hard to look like everything was fine even though her cheeks were burning hot, her lips slick, and her body pulsing in time with her frantic heartbeat. She had a feeling she was failing miserably at pulling it off. They may as well have a neon sign above their heads that read In Flagrante Delicto.

Donovan, on the other hand, owner of the world’s most impenetrable therapist mask, looked cool and unaffected as he tucked his hands in his pockets, presumably to hide his burgeoning hard-on, and looked at Ysa. “Not interrupting. What’s up?”

Ysa glanced between the two of them again but kept her thoughts to herself. “Just wanted to let you know your nine-thirty is here.”

Marin gave her a quick, tight smile. “Thanks. We’re on our way.”

Ysa gave them one last questioning look and then shook her head and disappeared back out into the hallway. When the door shut, Marin put her hands over her face and groaned. “Son of a bitch. Now there’s more grist for Dr. McCray’s rumor mill. I cannot believe I just did that. Here. With you.”

Donovan stepped into her space again and took her wrists in his hands, gently tugging them away from her face. “Take a breath. It’s okay. Ysa didn’t see anything. And even if she figured it out, she would never say anything to anyone.”

But Marin hardly heard any of it with her head spinning and anxiety rushing through her. “God, how could I be so stupid? I don’t know what I was thinking. I just—”

“It’s not your fault, Marin,” he said, his voice gentle. “I crossed the line first.” His mouth hitched up. “Plus, I should know not to stand that close to a woman who spent all night watching porn.”

A sharp laugh burst out of her, her nerves bubbling up and out. “Right. I’m bound to grab anyone within reach to use for my lecherous purposes.”

Donovan looked down at her for a long second, some of that heat from earlier returning, burning her slowly. His hands flexed around her wrists. “I wouldn’t mind being used by you, Marin.”

Her stomach dipped.

“I didn’t make the offer last night because it would’ve been a selfish move. And a risk. But I want you in my bed. Know that. It’s not altruistic. Or professional. And it’s out of line.” His voice was like water gliding along her skin—smooth, clear, quietly powerful. He lifted her hand and flattened it against his chest over the inner pocket of his jacket. “But if you decide you might want that anyway, know there isn’t a thing on this list that I wouldn’t love to check off for you. Completely and thoroughly. I could make you shameless, Rush.”

She could barely hear him over the roaring sound in her ears. How the hell was she supposed to form words after that?

He released her hands and stepped back but kept her pinned beneath that white-hot gaze. “So if you ever need me . . . off the clock, you just have to ask. And if you want me to go to hell and steer clear, that’s all you’ve got to say, too. It’s your call.”

Everything inside her was buzzing. Her mind had gotten hung up on the words completely and thoroughly. He wasn’t going to pressure her, but the look in his eye said he could rock her celibate world right off its fucking axis. The temptation was like a bright, glittering thing blurring her vision.

But taking that offer would come with a price. Keeping things secret. The risk of being caught. And there would be a time limit. He didn’t do relationships. This would just be sex.

Really hot, really intense sex.

Tap_Release_Day_Banner_2 [1205]

Release Day: JANUARY 11, 2016

SYNOPSIS:

A faceless name. That’s all she was when I agreed to play a part in deceiving her. But then the unplanned happened.

We met. And all I wanted from her was a dirty weekend . . . until that wasn’t enough and I longed for so much more.

Lawrence Thorn suddenly means the world to me. And that’s a problem. She’s my business partner’s sister. Forbidden fruit. Pursuing her can mean trouble for me at Lovibond Brewery. But I don’t care.

I yearn for her skin against mine.

I crave her smell on my body.

I want to make her laugh and then hear her moan my name.

And she does for a brief moment in time.

But Lawrence wants more than I’m able to give. And it’s a damn shame because there’s no one on earth I want more than her.

An epic love.

A miserable ending.

Unless it’s not.

REVIEW:

Reading any book by Georgia Cates is like taking your breathe of air on a beautiful, sunny day. It’s refreshing and invigorating!!! And Tap is just another proof of that.

Lucas “Tap” Broussard will have you begging for him to be your next book boyfriend. He is all man and his personality doesn’t make him look like a dominate ass. I think Georgia has definitely written one of the best male characters with Tap. He’s rugged, masculine and his mannerisms will surprise the hell out of you.

Lawrence Thorn is a hoot. I really like her. She’s very carefree and has a unique outlook on life. She’s got a heart of gold and will do just about anything for anyone. However, she’s not a pushover or naive. She’s a very strong woman who enjoys her independence.

Once these two, it’s like watching fireworks in full action. The chemistry between them is so obvious. But their relationship can’t be. But they also can’t resist the attraction for one another. So how do you keep a long distance a secret and still one anther without causing any inquiring minds to catch on.

This is a beautiful love story and Georgia wrote it flawlessly. I love how everything unfolded. I absolutely love the background and the brewery aspect of this book. Being a huge craft beer lover, this book definitely called to me. But what kept me drawn in was Georgia’s writing. I couldn’t wait to see how everything would play out.

I am excited to see what happens in the next two books with the other characters.

TAP_Release_Day_Teaser_3 [42844]

EXCERPT:

Lawrence Thorn

I grab the bottom of his T-shirt and give it a tug. “I think you’re overdressed.”

“I know how to fix that.”

He crosses his arms and grabs the bottom of his shirt, pulling it up and over his head. I stand in awe, taking in his male beauty. Broad shoulders. Pecs filled with muscle. A deep V at his waist, pointing right to his dick. That shit is awesome. Any woman who says it isn’t is a damn liar.

He has ink. A lot. I will take my time exploring that a little later. Maybe even outline it with the tip of my tongue.

My hands splay over the mounds of muscle covering the top of his chest. I suck a nipple into my mouth and give it a tug with my teeth. Women pay too little attention to men’s nipples. But not me. I love them.

Brou’s hands lace through my hair at the nape. “I have a confession.”

I look up but don’t release his nipple. “Mmm hmm?”

“When I turned around and saw you yesterday, I thought you were the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. And then you told me you were Stout’s sister. I was crushed because I knew that meant you were out of my reach.”

I release his nipple and straighten so we’re face to face. Sort of. He is quite a bit taller than me.

I snake my arms around his shoulders. “I think I’m very much within your reach. I’m yours until the morning so make it count.”

He slides his hands down my sides into the waist of my maxi skirt and panties. “We may not sleep at all tonight.”

“I’m all in.” Even if it means I won’t be worth shit driving home tomorrow. Every orgasm he gives me will make it worth it.

His mouth possesses mine as he pushes my bottoms down. I step out when both pieces drop to my feet and reach for the button of his jeans.

Brou ignores his phone vibrating on the nightstand. “You need to get that?”

“No fucking way. I’ve waited all day for this.”

A full minute doesn’t pass before the phone dances again. “You sure?”

“Positive.”

The phone rings a third time within two minutes. “They’re persistent.”

“They’re dead if they don’t leave us alone.”

~Not The One is a full length standalone adult romance~
My name is Reyna Miracle.

My body portrays the tales of my life.
Every feeling, every heartbreak, every emotion.
Marked. Inked. Stained.
A walking canvas of my messed up truth.
But there’s one confession I can’t put in a tattoo.
A confession that will kill me to tell, but my best friend died before I had the chance.
Now I’m left with him.
The only one who can hold me in the night and squeeze that spot on my neck that feels like my lifeline between sanity and chaos.
But we don’t work together.
We’re absolute poison for each other.

But I feel safe…because I’ve made an art of pushing people away.
Now he’s pushing back…
And making me believe…
Making me wonder…
Maybe, just maybe…
I could be the one.

review

Not The One is a standalone book in Amy Daws in London Lovers series. I became of fan of Amy’s writing after reading her book she co-wrote with Sarah J Pepper. Amy’s books appealed to me and when I had the chance to review this, I couldn’t pass it up.

Amy sucked me in deeper with this book. I actually ended up buying every book she has out because of this book. That has not happened to me in a long time where I am that wowed by an author’s writing.

But back to the book…..

Not The One is a very powerful book. It’s not just about the romance, but it’s about finding one’s self; growing, healing and moving forward.

Reyna is the main focus of this book. She’s always accepted pain and grief as second-nature to her. They’ve become a part of who she is and because of that, she tends to keep people at a distance. Even the few who do get close, there are only select parts she allows them to know about her.

Liam and Hayden play for very important and close roles to Reyna. Liam has always wanted to be there for Reyna, but when things got really hard and dark, he was the last person she wanted to be around her. Liam will only be pushed so far by her. Hayden and Reyna are two souls that connected but not in a healthy way. They understood one another and were able to keep one another close but never truly knowing the other.

You will feel everything that these characters go through. Their ups and downs, their fights & battles and their struggle to explain what they feel deep down. It’s not always pretty and rainbows. This story will walk you through the honesty and rawness of true friendship and love.

Amy, I may have only read a few books by you, but this books proves how much of strong of writer you are. I think this is just the beginning of what we can expect from you.

I will definitely be reading the other books in this series and I am looking forward to the next book you bring us.

“Christ, I hardly recognized you,” he seethes, the angry bulge in his jaw bone ticking violently. He grabs my arm firmly and pulls me off the concrete steps and into a covered archway away from all the other happy students. “What the fuck, Rey?”
“What are you talking about?” I ask in utter confusion.
He reaches beneath my chin, grabs the zipper and yanks it down harshly. I shove his hands away as my robe is yanked open.
“Fuck, Rey! You’re skin and bones!” Liam’s face is tortured and sickly. Dark circles reside under his eyes but he still looks gorgeous as ever.
“Don’t be ridiculous.” Grabbing the edges of my robe, I cover myself back up, protectively. I’m wearing a short blue shift dress that used to hug every one of my curves but now hangs on me like a potato sack. I know I’ve lost some weight since Marisa but I’m not about to let him scold me like a child over it. “I’m a twenty-five-year-old adult, Liam. I don’t need you chastising me over this.”
“Rey,” he says my name on a sigh. “How can you expect me to ignore this?” His eyes are pleading and pained as they flash between my eyes and my mouth in utter agony.
“I’m not your concern!” I push back my dark hair and squeeze the back of my neck to try to gain some of my control back.
“You made that perfectly clear when you shoved me out of your dorm room. Fuck. How did we get this so utterly wrong?”
“Just leave it, Liam.”
“No.” He grabs my shoulders and turns me to face him. “Don’t you miss me? At all? I miss you like crazy. I feel like I’m mourning two deaths instead of one. It’s like you died on me two weeks ago. And now I see you today and it makes me sick to my stomach that I’ve left you the way I did!” His eyes are shimmering with tears and pain, only adding to the self-loathing I’ve developed the past fourteen days.
My eyes are dead and cold, my voice flat and unaffected. “I told you I wanted nothing to do with you, Liam. I meant it.”
“You’re lying to me. Again!” he roars, angrily punching the concrete wall beside my head.
Q: Readers are calling Not The One a “painfully beautiful love story.” Why is that? What was the writing process like?
A: Writing this book was terrifying. I’ve never been so far outside my comfort zone with any other book. This storyline literally terrified me and I got pretty depressed during the process. It was crazy hard, but crazy cathartic. It feels good to sink into those dark corners sometimes. It makes finding the light that much more magical.
Q: What inspired this story?
A: Well, Reyna was a character in my London Lovers Series that I couldn’t get out of my head. I had an idea for an interesting backstory for her…a mother/daughter dynamic that I’d never read before but could relate to because of some of my own personal struggles. I needed to know more about her, so I wrote it.
Q: But this book isn’t a London Lovers Series novel, correct?
A: Correct. I’m calling it a spinoff. A cross-pollination so to speak. There are characters from my London Lovers, but it reads best as a total standalone.
Q: Who the heck is Frank? And how did you create him?
A: LOL! Ohhh, Frank and Beans. He is my London Lovers secondary standout. He’s a fantastical redheaded gay Brit that everyone needs in their life. Magically, he fit into Not The One like it was meant to be. Frank is the comedic lightness that this story needed, but he’s so much more. He’s special.
Q: Will he get a story?
A: He is my most requested story.
That’s not an answer.
LOL…Let me be “frank” when I tell you…it is a distinct possibility. 😉
Q: Who designed your cover? It’s stunning!
A: I’m so glad you like it because I did! LOL. My sister in law took the photos. We do all of my covers together. We both come armed with cameras and click away until our models can’t take anymore. But I always end up using my sister-in-laws pictures for the cover. I just like to see through the lens instead of my eyes. But I do all my own layout and designing in Photoshop.
Q: And the cover models?
A: All of my covers have just normal people. I never shoot models. The cover models on Not The One are just a couple of local hairdressers that my sister-in-law knew! It’s funny…I had met the girl a couple of times and talked with her briefly about her incredible ink and through the writing process, her tattoos fit my story perfectly. It was kind of chilling.
Q: So what’s next for you?
A: I’m pretty sure I’ll be continuing on this London path for a couple more stories. Without revealing any spoilers, I’m really hoping readers will be interested in one of the characters’ HEA. I’d love to write his story next. And then…finally, Frank and Beans. 🙂
Amy Daws is a commercial producer and lives in South Dakota with her husband and daughter. The long-awaited birth of Lorelei is what inspired her passion for writing. Amy is a lover of all things British and her award-nominated romantic comedy series, The London Lovers Series, is centered around Americans in London. It’s emotional and self-deprecating with lots of humor sprinkled in. On most nights, you can find Amy and her family dancing to Strawberry Shortcake’s theme song or stuffing themselves inside children’s-sized playhouses because there is nothing they wouldn’t do for their little miracle.

REVIEW

I finished this book a day ago and I am still to sure how to write this review.  I am still reeling from this roller coaster ride of intensity!

Laurelin really knows how to snag your attention and hold you captive throughout this whole book. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I wanted to know what was going to happen next and yet not wanting the book to end.

I won’t give away too much of the plot .  Wait, wait – I’m not giving any of it away.  This book will make you feel like you just ran a damn marathon. One that you aren’t prepared for but loved every damn second it.

“It was these times that I felt most connected to him. It was these times that he scared me most.”

Emily isn’t your typical female heroine. I love her completely as she is, however I do have a few problems with her train of thought and her actions but it’s also why she’s so unique; she’s not your typical female character.  Emily’s choices are what make Emily, Emily.  Reeve, I love to hate and hate to love.  He’s a conundrum that you want to figure out but are afraid of what you’ll find.

This whole story is intense, heated (in many ways), suspenseful, but full of passion, loyalty and secrets. Laurelin wrote this story beautifully.  She gives you just enough information to think you know what’s going and then BAM!

I can’t wait to see what we get next!

Excerpt

“Tell me something,” he said, overtly switching gears. “What’s with you and Chris Blakely?”

He’d been watching me at the Expo, then. Before he’d come outside after me.

His question about Chris was spoken casually, but it was purposeful. A more naïve woman might have missed it, but I was too experienced with men like him. He wanted me to know that I was in his sightline. That this was what it meant to be part of his life. That he would monitor me, if he felt like it; he’d rule me. And he expected me to submit.

I couldn’t decide if that freaked me out or thrilled me.

So I played coy. “He’s an actor. We’ve worked together on occasion. I guess we’re friends.”

I walked into the kitchen and got a glass from the cupboard. Chewing my lip, I filled it with filtered water from the sink and debated full disclosure regarding Chris…It was a long shot, but since I hoped to contact Chris for more information about Missy at some point, I decided the less I said the better.

I drank some of my water then set the glass down and leaned across the counter to watch Reeve. His fingers trailed across the spines. I couldn’t see the exact books, so I tried to think what was there. My Katherine Hepburn autobiography. My copy of Rebecca.

He stopped and pulled one from the shelf then flipped through it lazily. This one I recognized from the cover. PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives, one of my coffee table books. I collected them and had so many that most lived on my bookshelf rather than on my coffee table. This particular book was a printing of blog posts that shared secrets anonymously. Parts of it read like my diary, and I’d marked several pages with Post-it notes so I could easily come back to them. Reading it had always felt comforting.

Seeing it in Reeve’s hands, though, wasn’t comforting. He flipped through the pages, stopping on the ones I’d tagged. Chuckling at some. Growing somber at others. At one, he lifted his head toward me and nodded slightly as if confirming what he’d just thought, what he’d just read.

I ran through several confessions I knew by heart, trying to imagine which it had been—

Again and again. Used.”

“I’m more scared of court than I was when he almost killed me.”

“I would do absolutely anything in the whole world if I thought it would make her happy.”

Whichever ones he was reading, any of them—all of them—were private. Too private for him to know spoke to me. Yet, I didn’t stop him. I let him sink one layer deeper under my skin.

It was bad enough that he was in my apartment—in an apartment that I paid for myself. His presence reminded me of a time when everything I owned had been given to me by men. The things I had now, though small in number and worth, were all mine.

Trying to distract myself from the anxiety Reeve’s invasion caused, I asked, “Why do you want to know about Chris anyway? Do you want me to fix you up? He’s got a fiancé, you know.”

Reeve shot me a glare. “Cute.”

He put the book back on my shelf and moved toward me. When he reached the counter, he said, “Chris doesn’t look at you like he has a fiancé.”

Ah. I’d forgotten Reeve was a jealous man. Or I’d underestimated the depth of his envy. Strangely, it was a fairly common trait of the kind of men I’d involved myself with in the past, the kind of men who had everything. I knew how to pander to them, knew what to say to put their insecurities to rest. No one could ever be man enough to compare with you, I’d say. It might have been what Reeve was looking for in regards to Chris.

But I couldn’t bring myself to give it to him. “A lot of men don’t look at me like they have a fiancé.”

Reeve leaned across the opposite side of the counter so we were face-to-face. “I don’t like that.”

Jealousy was generally boring, yet, on Reeve, it was fascinating. And, I suspected, dangerous. “You don’t? What are you going to do about it? Lock me up and never let me out in public?”

“I have some nice secluded resorts I think you’d like. My island properties are so beautiful you’ll forget you’re in a prison.”

He flashed his dimple. It was subtle, only noticeable when he smiled in a certain way, the way he was smiling now. And his eyes…I’d thought they were blue, but now I saw green flecks. They caught in the light. They caught me in them, made me feel warm. Made me feel trapped.

I stood up straight, distancing myself without moving away. “Look at you. Acting as if you have some claim to me. I think I already blew you off the other night.”

“Look at you, acting as if I’m a person that you blow off. I think I already warned you about me.” He was teasing as I’d been. But he wasn’t all at the same time.

My heart skipped a beat. “Another threat?”

“If you want it to be.” He looked at me like he had earlier—that intent way that saw through me, into me. Saw all my dark parts.

In a way, he was showing me his darkness as well.

My lip quivered, but I wasn’t scared. Well, not scared enough. “I do.”

His eyes sparked, and with that simple phrase, we entered into an agreement. He would have me. He would fuck me. He would bring me into his world.

And in return I’d let him break me.

Laurelin Paige is the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today Bestselling Author of the Fixed Trilogy. She’s a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender.  BUILT - Tour Teaser 1

About BUILT:

From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes an electrifying new spin-off series,Saints of Denver, featuring all the characters fans have been dying to read about.

Sayer Cole and Zeb Fuller couldn’t be more different. She’s country club and fine-dining, he’s cell-block and sawdust. Sayer spends her days in litigation, while Zeb spends his working with his hands. She’s French silk, he’s all denim and flannel.

Zeb’s wanted the stunning blonde since the moment he laid eyes on her. It doesn’t matter how many smooth moves he makes, the reserved lawyer seems determinedly oblivious to his interest—either that or she doesn’t return it. Sayer is certain the rough, hard, hot-as-hell Zeb could never want someone as closed off and restrained as she is, which is a shame because something tells her he might be the guy to finally melt her icy exterior.

But just as things start to heat up, Zeb is blindsided by a life altering moment from his past. He needs Sayer’s professional help to right a wrong and to save more than himself. He can’t risk what’s at stake just because his attraction to Sayer feels all consuming. But as these opposites dig in for the fight of their lives, battling together to save a family, the steam created when fire and ice collide can no longer be ignored.

My Review:

Built is the first in a new series from author Jay Crownover and had me hooked from just the cover alone.  Of course, after I dove into the story I was glued to every word and loved it from start to finish.

One of the things I loved most about this book were the two main characters and just how perfectly imperfect they were.

Sayer is pretty closed off and holds a stiff upper lip most of the time.  But that didn’t make her unrelatable.  Far from it, in fact.  She’s a gal who had a crappy childhood and knows she’s gotta make a change or risk being alone for the rest of her life.  She has a few friends, excels at her job and has plenty of compassion and heart when it comes to that, but it’s learning how to let that heart and compassion into her personal life that always trips her up.  She’s a woman who has been hurt and is emotionally closed off because of that hurt.  She’s a woman just waiting for the right guy to come and shatter those walls. Enter Zeb…

Poor Zeb has been through some pretty rough times himself.  But instead of closing off like Sayer did, he did the opposite and learned to love more of his life.  More of what life can offer and do it with a fierce determination that I just adored.  He is all man with a big soft heart and a fierce love and loyalty to those he holds close.  He doesn’t back down from a challenge and does what’s right.  He’s a fighter and faces two of the biggest fights in his life after meeting Sayer and getting some very unexpected news from his past.  I loved that he embraced the challenges and set out to make them both work.  Oh, and he’s sexy as hell.

Adding real depth to these two amazing characters is the way Ms. Crownover writes. I’ve read a lot of books and there are a lot of terms and words that are overused.  It just happens and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. I’ve come to expect certain terms or phrases when it comes to emotional scenes or love scenes, and that’s totally ok.  That didn’t happen here in this book, though.  There is something exceptional about the way Ms. Crownover wrote those special moments that really stood out to me.  The words used to describe things like Zeb’s feelings, Sayer’s emotions, the physical moments they share, were all done with a little edge of something different that had me in love with this story.  For that, I’m especially excited to read more of this series and more of Ms. Crownover’s writing.

Overall, if you’re looking for new and different, this is a book you should get on your shelf.  I highly recommend! Thank you, Ms. Crownover, for an amazing read!

Excerpt:

As though my intense and swirling thoughts had pulled Zeb into the vortex of self-pity I was struggling in, my phone vibrated in my hand with a message from him as I wandered aimlessly through the empty rooms.

I shivered at the sight of his name and then silently scolded myself for having such a powerful reaction to only his name on the screen. His message was simple but for some reason it felt full of more meaning and emotion than the three words staring up at me indicated.

Can you talk?

I bit my lip and decided how to answer. I didn’t talk to my clients after office hours were done for the day and I was already having a really hard time keeping the professional and personal lines clear where he and this case were concerned. I sighed and tapped out:

I can. Do you want me to call you?

I had started this process as his friend first and it wasn’t fair to him that my heart was pulling itself apart because of his situation. He was probably nervous and scared about what was coming next week, and I was the only one who could put some of that at ease.

There wasn’t a response for a long couple of minutes and I hated that all I could do was stare at my phone and pace back and forth while I waited to see what he was going to say. I was acting like a teenager and it was ridiculous. I snorted at myself and was headed into the kitchen to pour myself a glass of wine when the phone rang and made me jump. I wasn’t prepared for him to call me right that moment and had a bout of anxiety about answering the call before I told myself to man up and swiped my finger across the screen.

“Hey. Everything all right?” I heard a car honk its horn wherever he was calling from, and he mumbled something that wasn’t directed at me before answering.

“Fuck no.”

REVIEW

The Last Round is a very quick, light-hearted and sweet romantic read.

I read this book in one sitting and really enjoyed the feelings it evoked from me.

The story follows Julian and Natalia as they work through their relationship after facing a huge hurdle. They are high school sweethearts who are faced with fame, fortune and paparazzi everywhere.

It’s told in dual POV’s with some flashbacks to when they first started dating. I really enjoyed the flashbacks because it gave us a glimpse of who they were and where things may have gotten lost along the way.

Emmy did a phenomenal job making this a very sweet and endearing read. Being able to read from both POV’s gives you a better insight to what each character is feeling and how they view things. The book flows really well and Emmy does a nice job of creating the perfect atmosphere for this book.

I am hoping that maybe we can get a novella later on about these two. HINT HINT. LOL

If you are looking for a book that will make you happy and give you tears of joy, this book is it!

EL Montes

USA Today Bestselling Author, E.L. Montes (Emmy Luz Montes) lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, Alex, and their English Bulldog name Butters. She has a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies.

Ms. Montes worked several years as a paralegal for a mid-size law firm. She had always loved the legal field and found it to be interesting. She more so “secretly” loved to write. Disastrous was her debut novel which was released October 2012. After the release of her second novel Ms. Montes took a huge leap, by leaving her fulltime job to focus on her writing career. She has and continues to write characters with flaws. Ms. Montes said, “No one is perfect and neither are my characters. It makes the storyline a bit more realistic, in my opinion. But I also feel no matter who you are or the life you have lived, everyone deserves someone to love and be loved. I’m a hopeless romantic, and enjoy writing a story where my readers feel like they’re living and feeling every emotion.”

When Sophie Jameson first became a domme at Club 1740, it was more out of financial necessity than it was for personal pleasure and sexual exploration. But over the years as she rocked her leather corsets and boots while wielding every crop and flogger imaginable, she grew to love the thrill and adulation that her clients brought her. But all along, her path in life and her heart was with a different profession—one she was planning to embark on at the summer’s end.

And then he changed everything. Tall, dark, impossibly built—William was the complete opposite of whatever image a male sub conjured up. After all the subs, Sophie finally felt true lust and desire. Although he was the proud stallion who needed breaking, he became the one to make her break all her rules and let down all her walls.

But it was just supposed to be for that one night, but an accidental encounter days later outside Club 1740’s protected walls had the two seeing each other in a different light—as simply Sophie and William, not Domme and sub. While they should have parted ways, they couldn’t. While they should never have gone back to her place, they did.

And that simple mistake has a serious price for both of them.

Subordination Excerpt

My steps faltered as I did a double take at the sight of what appeared to be a shirtless and shoeless Henry Cavill standing before me. The idea wasn’t entirely far-fetched since we’d had a few celebrities in the club. But as one of the strobe lights flickered to illuminate more of his face, I realized he was just a look-alike. His hair was lighter while his eyes were dark brown, rather than blue.

He was impossibly tall, and I couldn’t help staring at his muscular chest with its dusting of dark hair that led to an oh-so-happy trail that ended at the low hanging waistband of his jeans. He had an aura of importance about him, and I couldn’t help wondering who he was in real life.

He held my gaze for a moment before averting his eyes to the ground. “Good evening, Mistress.”

A submissive? I would have never imagined it in a million years. Even though I knew from my own clients that submissive men weren’t simpering pussies, there was something about this man that screamed dominant. Of course, the fact he was shoeless should have given his sub status away, but he wasn’t wearing a collar. A prime piece of submissive man like this usually belonged to someone. And if he didn’t, he would normally be snatched up by a domme practically before he got through the door, least of all across the dance floor. I couldn’t help wondering what his story was. More than anything, I wondered what it might be like to have a session with him. I so rarely took anyone on outside my usual clients. But it might be something fun for my last night in the club.

To test his true submissiveness, I commanded, “Look at me.”

He jerked his gaze from my boots to meet mine. “Are you looking to play tonight?”

“Yes, I am. And if it pleases you, mistress, I would be honored if you chose me.”

His voice. Sweet Jesus, was it was panty-melting. It totally went with his body—strong, firm, and deep. Although he had answered my question well, I still had my doubts. With all the strength I had, I reached out to firmly slap his cheek. The resounding smack echoed around us. A man playing at being a sub would have a distinct reaction. His eyes would darken with the rage seething within him at being treated so disrespectfully.

Oh, but not him. His face remained impassive. Yet at the same time, he shuddered, and his dark eyes flashed with a combustive mix of lust and desire. His reaction caused moisture to pool between my thighs. He reminded me of our horses back on the farm. He was a spirited stallion who needed a firm hand to break him, and damn me to hell if I didn’t want to be the one to do it.

Wanting to build the anticipation, I patted his cheek where I had previously slapped him. “I’ll think about it.”

“Yes, Mistress.” He bowed his head before backing up.

Damn, someone had truly trained him well. I stepped past him to head to the bar. My mouth had run dry, and I desperately needed a drink.

Review

I get excited when an author dabs into a different genre and sets their ambitions on a new adventure. I was really excited when I found out that Katie was writing a book within the BDSM genre. And she definitely took it to another level for me.

Where most BDSM books are all about the dominating side in a BDSM relationship, Katie gives us a totally different view on it. She really opened my eyes in a new light.

I won’t rehash the blurb or give you any plot details. But I will tell you that Katie tells you a beautiful story of romance blended in with the BDSM profession and lifestyle. You can sense the instant attractive between William and Sophie. But that encounter ignites a totally different flame and things get crazy hot and exciting after that.

Katie writes a beautiful story. There is so much more to this story than just the relationship between William and Sophie. The secondary characters really helped build everything else going on and that’s what makes this whole book stand out. Katie wrapped everything together so well.

There are some heart-breaking moments, some hilarious scenes and then some very sweet yet spicy scenes. Katie brings her amazing writing at contemporary romance and mixes it well with BDSM. Katie really opens your eyes to the BDSM profession and lifestyle. She not only gave us some really hot scenes but she went further and gave you a more insightful look into this area.

Katie, you once again, have blown me away by your writing. I loved this book and I hope that you dabble some more in this genre.
