About FALLEN INK

The Montgomery Ink series continues with a spin-off in Colorado Springs, where a familiar Montgomery finds her place in a new tattoo shop, and in the arms of her best friend.

Adrienne Montgomery is finally living her dreams. She’s opened a tattoo shop with her brother, Shep, and two of her cousins from Denver and she’s ready to take the city by storm with her art—as long as she can handle the pressure. When her new neighbors decide her shop isn’t a great fit for the community, however, she’ll have to lean on the one person she didn’t expect to fall for along the way…her best friend.

Mace Knight takes pride in two things: his art and his daughter. He knows he’s taking a risk by starting over in a new shop with the Montgomerys, but the stakes are even higher when he finds himself wanting Adrienne more than he thought possible.

The two fall fast and hard but they know the rules; they can’t risk their friendship, no matter how hot it is between the sheets and how many people try to stand in their way.

Excerpt:

Adrienne arched her hips, her hand between her legs as she imagined Mace’s rough beard scraping her thighs as he ate her out. Despite how hot her imagination had gotten before, knowing exactly what his tongue on her pussy felt like now just made touching herself even hotter. She slid her fingers between her folds, pumped one, then two fingers in and out of herself before pulling out so she could slide her wetness over her clit. One hand cupping her breast, she pleasured herself until she came, her body shaking as the orgasm slammed into her, making her tingle all the way from her toes to her ears and the tips of her breasts.

“I’m going to Hell,” she whispered, her hand still lazily stroking her clit. “So going to Hell.”

It had been two days since she’d had the best sex of her life with her best friend, and though they’d had a conversation about it, she was still just as confused as ever.

What they had talked about:

  1. The sex was amazing.
  2. They probably shouldn’t do it again.
  3. The sex was amazing.
  4. They were probably going to do it again.
  5. The sex was amazing.
  6. They could ruin everything because the sex was amazing.

Four guys.

Constant moaning.

And a revolving door across the college suite I somehow ended up in because my first name is Shawn.

They don’t discriminate. Girls. Guys. Grandmas. Plants (okay maybe not plants) all walks of life stroll in stressed to the brim, and leave so satisfied I’m wondering what sort of talents lie behind that door.

My roommate calls them the pleasure ponies.

But the rest of the college campus?

They just call them the new face of Wingmen Inc. A paid for relationship service that makes big promises.

Breakup? They’ll glue you back together again.

Depressed? They have the magic pill.

Lonely? Just spend a few minutes while they rub you down and you’ll forget all about it.

And broken hearts? Well, that’s their specialty. They’ll fix you

For a price…

I swore I wouldn’t get involved.

But apparently they like a challenge, and a girl who doesn’t put up with their BS is basically like waving a red flag in front of a bull.

They. All. Charged.

But one holds my attention above the rest.

Knox Turner looks like a Viking — and getting pillaged is starting to look more appealing by the day. Though he’s hiding something — all of them are. And the closer I get. The more I realize that some things are left better in the past.

You’ve read reverse harem books before — but you’ve never read one like this. It’s not what you think, or is it? Dive in and find out…

Knox, Leo, Finn, and Slater are waiting, and they aren’t patient men.

Welcome to the new face of Wingmen Inc — You’re welcome.

Excerpt:

It was happening again.

The moaning.

I put a pillow over my face and screamed.

Not because it was too loud.

But because I kept wondering who was causing it. One? Two? All three? Leo and Finn had both tried to talk to me in class and at the coffee shop again. I’d brushed them off but been polite.

And Knox?

Well, let’s just say that Knox had suddenly turned over a leaf that said, “Go out of my way to make Shawn’s life miserable.”

He was suddenly everywhere.

And with a different female every single day.

It drove me insane.

Bat-shit crazy.

And he wasn’t even mine to go senseless over!

The moan happened again.

“That’s it!” I got up from my bed, stomped over to the door, and jerked it open. Then I pounded my way over to their room and almost took down the door with my knock .

When Leo answered, he grinned down at me. “Come to play?”

I gave him the finger.

His eyes narrowed. “I’m confused. Is that yes or no?”

“Agh!” I threw my hands up in the air. “I have practice tomorrow at five a.m. It’s three. I’ve had one hour of sleep. Can you please keep the moaning to a minimum?”

“You seem stressed.” He tilted his head just as Finn joined him in the doorway. “Doesn’t she?”

“Very.” Finn nodded then reached out and started massaging my right trap while Leo grabbed my hand and worked my fingers. It felt so damn good that I forgot I was pissed for about two seconds before I pulled away.

“No.” I jabbed my finger at each of their chests. “Shame on you. Stop using your skills to make me less crazy. I need sleep.”

“I could not agree more.” Leo put his hand over his chest. “If you want, I can come over and—”

“No!” I made a fist with my hands. “I don’t need you to help me sleep. I need you to keep your clients quiet so that I can sleep. Big difference.”

Knox appeared then and held out a pair of Bose noise-canceling headphones. “You can borrow them every Friday as long as you don’t set them on fire when you’re done.”

“Do you think I really want whatever STDs are crawling around the surface?” I hissed.

His eyes turned lethal. “Then I guess you won’t sleep.”

“Dun, dun, dun,” Finn sang in a low voice, just as a small lady who could pass as my grandmother made an appearance and shoved a fifty-dollar bill in Knox’s pants then patted him on his rock-hard six-pack. She had a full-on red wig perched backward on her head and cherry red cheeks with black glasses that she kept shoving up her nose. And her purse looked like something I would have seen on I Love Lucy. It was this giant black clutch that probably held cough drops and prunes.

“Thanks, boys.”

“Love you, Edna!” Finn called while Leo brushed a kiss across her hand.

She finger-waved at Knox and straight-up waddled out of the suite.

I stared after her, my jaw dropping with each step she took until she was out of eyesight.

“What…” I shook my head. “…I mean, seriously, guys, what?”

Finn’s eyes got serious. “She’s lonely.”

“She’s at least eighty!” I yelled, so exhausted I was actually arguing with crazy.

Knox got all up in my business and said through clenched teeth, “Her husband died a year ago. She’s not comfortable with internet dating yet. We’re easing her in because she wants a partner for life, someone she can laugh with, so if we can give her that one laugh, that nice touch once a week, we’re going to fucking do it. Now jump off that pedestal, take the damn Bose, and go to sleep.”

Blood Type by K.A. Linde…Blog Tour & Review

A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.

That was the moment Beckham appeared in the doorway like a storm cloud.

Reyna straightened in her seat at the expression on his face. He walked across the room like a tightly coiled spring ready to explode.

“Ah Beckham, there you are,” Harrington said.

“Excuse me, William. I need to speak with Reyna. Alone.”

She hastened out of her seat and followed him around the corner. He tugged her straight through the kitchens, out the back door, down a corridor, and into a dead end. Then her back was slammed against the brick wall. His fist connected with the wall behind her, and she felt the wall shudder. Debris floated onto her shoulders.

“You left,” he growled.

“I . . .”

“No.” He pressed his finger to her lips roughly. She stopped breathing and just stared up into his eyes as dark as night. Her body trembled under the feral stare. “You left without me.”

The silence was weighted. All she could do was sit with their bodies nearly touching. His finger on her mouth. Her mind wandering to hellacious places.

“You are my subject. Can you imagine what it was like when I found you missing? When you turned up with three of my kind?” She shook her head minutely. He bared his teeth to her, and she shrank back. “These are meant to drink your blood. To drink you dry until there is nothing left of your body but a dry corpse. We are killers. We don’t hesitate. Just because we’re wearing suits and seem more like you . . . does not mean we are like you. We are not like you. They especially are not like you. The only way you get to the top of Visage is to be fucking ruthless, Reyna. Do you understand?”

“You’re . . . scaring me,” she whispered.

“Good.”

5+++++ Stars

OMG!! Now is this a paranormal romance that everyone needs to read!!

I have REALLY high standards when it comes to paranormal romances, especially when vampires are involved. I was definitely a bit leery going into this because of the standards I have. K.A. smashed those standards for me. The world she has created is so unique and unlike anything I have read before.

Blood Type is set in a world where vampires and humans co-exist together. It’s almost like a post-apocalyptic world where everyone is trying to find their place in the world after it went to shit. However, it’s vampires that are taking control and not zombies. And they are trying to make things better for all, humans and vampires. But when one is in control of the other, the battle of wills is bound to happen. And not everyone has the same endgame.

Reyna is at the point in her life where she feels that she has become a burden to her brothers. No one wants to hire her because she does not have a college education and she can’t afford to go to college. That leaves with her one option, becoming a blood escort to the vampire elite.

Reyna is assigned to none other than Beckham Anderson. Beckham is one of top members and one that Reyna finds both terrifying and alluring. He’s an enigma to her because he won’t feed off her yet she hears stories of how people fear him.

” ‘Oh Little One, this world will kill the goodness left within your beating heart.’
‘But it will not break me.’
‘No,’ he agreed. He leaned his head into her hard and drew a deep breath. ‘I will do that’ ”

K.A. blew me away with this book and how everything plays out. This book is written in third POV, which is not my favorite, but I will admit, that I found myself drowning in this book and forgetting about all about that. K.A. did a great job with writing in this perspective; I feel it actually worked best with this story as were able to understand everything from all angles. I was able to figure out a few things, but in no way did that take away from this story. If anything, it just added to the hype of this book and all the excitement I was experiencing. It’s been quite some time that I felt this exhilaration for a paranormal book.

These characters are perfectly written. Reyna is a strong heroine in our own right, who also questions herself like anyone else would in her position. But she’s not a pushover and stands up for herself. I love that she has no problems going against the norm. And Becks, that man. He definitely had me going back and forth on him. I have my opinions on some other characters that play an intricate role in this series and I will just leave it at that because I do not want to give anything else away.

If you love paranormal reads, you  MUST  read this book.

If paranormal reads aren’t your typical style, you still MUST read this.

If you love, angsty, suspenseful and dramatic reads, you MUST read this.

I may have dipped my toes in to start, but I was immediately diving head first in after the first few sentences of this book. I never once wanted to take a breath and stop reading. And I really need book 2, NOW!!

“What on earth is that look for?” Julian stared down at her, his lips pulled up in obvious amusement.

Finn leaned over so he could be heard over the loud music. “I think Dani is enjoying her role as town harlot.”

Julian frowned. “Harlot? Why would she be a harlot?”

Dani and Finn laughed together. For the first time, they completely understood something Julian didn’t.

“This is a small town, Sir,” Finn explained. “All anyone is going to talk about tomorrow is the fact that Dani Bay snuck up the stairs at The Barn with two guys. Trust me, she is going to be called all kinds of names. Mostly to her back, though.”

She shrugged. It was to be expected. At least no one would be feeling sorry for her.

Julian’s face went dark, and his fingers tightened around hers. “They had better not say anything where I can hear it.” He relaxed and nodded down at her. “I’m going to speak with Jackson, dear. You and Finn stay together. We’ll be leaving shortly. We’ll retrieve Finn’s things and go back out to the ranch.”

He turned and walked off, supremely confident that his orders would be met.

He turned back suddenly. “And stay out of trouble.”

Dani grinned. He didn’t look so confident that she would follow that edict. He walked away. She watched his gorgeous ass as it disappeared into the crowd. When she turned, she noticed that Finn was watching, too.

“I’m sorry.” Finn pulled back slightly, his hand coming out of hers. That look was back in his eyes.

“Are you going to be an asshole?” she asked.

“What?”

“I thought we worked through this, but it looks like you’re going to be an asshole.” She wasn’t putting up with it. Maybe she would have before but being with them had changed her.

Being with Julian and Finn together seemed to have altered something fundamental in Dani. It had been beautiful. She’d never felt as deeply as she did when they were kissing her, loving her. There had been that terrible moment when she was sure Julian was leaving, but he’d stayed. He had to care about her. He cared, and Finn cared. She wasn’t going to let anyone take that away from her or make her feel ashamed. That was hers.

Finn stared almost blankly and then shook his head. “I’m sorry. I spent so long trying to hide this from you.”

“Hide what? That I knew you were gay? I was well aware of that. Why did you get upset because I caught you drooling over Julian’s ass?”

His eyes slid down. “Damn it, Dani. This is why I stayed away. I knew it should be only the two of us, but I wasn’t sure I could do it. I’m not sure I can stay away from men.”

Julian was shaking his head at Jack, who seemed to be teasing him something fierce. Dani stared at him for a moment. She noticed she wasn’t the only one. All around her, other women had their eyes on the hot new guy. They could look, but Julian was hers. He might not know it, but she planned on keeping him. And Finn. As soon as they ironed out a few things.

“And it never occurred to you to say, hey, Dani, here’s the problem. Let’s see if we can solve it? No, you decide to keep your mouth shut and almost let me marry someone I didn’t love because you didn’t want to admit you’re bi.”

“Damn it, I didn’t want to lose you. I love you, Danielle. You’re the only thing in my life that’s permanent. I would rather keep you in my life than lose you because I can’t be normal. It should be two people. A marriage should be two people.”

Oh, yes, she had to fix his way of thinking. “Says who? The old biddies at church? Screw them. Why does everything have to be one way? What we did up there didn’t hurt anyone. It isn’t anyone’s business but ours. I love you, Finn, but I think I’m falling for Julian, too. Can you handle that?”

“I can certainly try, baby. I was willing to love you from afar. I prefer loving you up close.”

Excerpt:

Her tongue darted out of her sweet little mouth to lick those succulent lips that only seconds ago had been pressed to mine. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, dropping her gaze to my chest. “I thought if I kissed you, maybe…” She swallowed and trembled against me. “I thought it might change something.”

Her strained voice kicked my addled brain into gear, and I immediately registered the loss of her heat. My body responded on instinct, fueled by a week of lust and desire and hunger I could no longer contain.

I captured her hands at the wrists and pushed them to the base of her spine. The clutch fell from her fingers to clatter against the floor of the car. Her gorgeous blue eyes widened with both shock and a hint of fear, but it didn’t stop me.

Grasping both of her hands in one of mine, I lifted the other to hold her jaw still and pushed her back against the wall, pinning her between it and me. She tensed, trapped and unable to move, and the moment her mouth opened on a gasp, I dove in, claiming her lips, her teeth, her tongue. Devouring her as I’d wanted to devour her from the first moment I’d seen her sitting demurely in the Covet lobby back in New York.

Liquid heat seeped into my lips, enflaming the lust scorching every part of my body. I licked into her mouth, kissing her deeper, tasting her panic, tasting her fear, tasting her heat and desire and that wicked attraction I’d been fighting for so long. I wanted to consume it all. Was greedy for everything I could take from her. But more than anything I knew I craved her submission. That darkness inside me thirsted for it like a parched man wandering alone in the desert. And as I kissed her and begged her to bend to my will with my lips, I knew nothing else would satisfy me. Not her kiss or her body or even her pleasure.

Something in her shifted. I felt it in the rush of heat at her wrists where I held her. I heard it when she groaned into my mouth. I felt it as her wicked tongue stroked mine, so warm and wet and erotic, it shot ribbons of electricity straight into my cock that made me instantly hard. But it wasn’t the submission I demanded. As she pressed her succulent breasts against my chest and shifted her mouth beneath mine, I realized it was the fiery defiance she’d showed me time and again. And while that spark of rebelliousness lit me up like a firework and made me abso-fucking-lutely obsessed with her, it also flipped the regulator on my hunger—at least enough so I didn’t shove her skirt up to her hips and fuck her right here against the wall.

I tore my mouth from hers and sucked in a shaky breath. Releasing my hold on her wrists and jaw, I pressed my hands against the wall on both sides of her head, but I didn’t move. My knees were too weak—every muscle in my body was fucking weak from her luscious kiss—and I didn’t trust my legs not to give out.

My chest rose and fell with my deep breaths as I struggled for control. Hers were just as fast and shallow, telling me she was as shaken as me. Thankfully, she kept her gaze fixed on my throat, as if afraid to look at me, and I drew a breath of relief, because if she gazed up at me with longing and desire, I knew I’d buckle beneath the weight of my lust.

“Natalie,” I said in a raspy voice. “You have to leave.”

Her soft fingers landed against my ribs, and Holy mother, her touch felt like flames burning through my dress shirt to lick a path of wildfire all across my skin. “That didn’t feel like you want me to leave,” she said in that breathless, sexy-as-shit voice I’d caused. “That felt like you want me to stay.”

Fuck me, I did want her to stay. I wanted her to stay and taunt me with her cheeky disobedience. I wanted her to challenge me with those gorgeous eyes so I could bend her will to mine. And then I wanted to consume her so completely with my hands and mouth and body that I ruined her for anyone else. So she would always know she belonged to me.

Kennedy Fox has done it again!! I think every book in this series is going to have my loving the next brother more than the last. LOL And I love that they are so different with their personalities and quirks.

Evan didn’t follow in the same footsteps as his brothers and stay to work at the ranch. He felt his calling in another way – becoming a doctor. On his rare days off, he does go to the ranch and help out, but he’s dedicate to his job and loves what he does.

Emily Bell has grown up always knowing she wanted to be a doctor, but didn’t exactly want to follow in her father ways and become a fertility doctor or even work in that environment. She wanted to be in the ER where her day was always a surprise. Living in her father’s shadow was never easy and she worked damn hard to prove to everyone that she got where she was due to her work ethic and not because of who her father is.

When circumstances have Emily moving out of her hometown to start anew, she’s determined to focus on her career and prove once again, this is what she was born for. However, her best friend still wants Emily to live a little and invites her to a wedding as her plus one. But when her best friend Keira ends up bailing on her at the wedding, Emily finds herself having a hard time saying no to one gentleman in a tuxedo.

It’s only one night. Emily does even give him her name. She doesn’t know anyone here and she won’t even see him ever again. Right??

When Evan and Emily meet each other a second, sparks definitely fly, just not in ways that they did the first time. And that’s where everything gets good!!

I love how the dup that is Kennedy Fox lets this one work its out. Evan has this chip on his shoulder and definitely lets Emily have it a few times. But Emily is in no way a pushover and doesn’t let his barbarian attitude turn her away. She goes toe to toe with him and that just aggravates him even more.

I loved all the emotions and dialogue in this book. These may be hotheads, but they also are mature even to talk things and sometimes “work” things out of their systems. There is definitely no shortage of chemistry between them. And Kennedy Fox does a phenomenal job on this and delivers a great transition into the next book.

I caved.

Fuck me. I caved, and now he thinks he’s in control and God’s gift to the world.

Fucking great.

I won’t let him manipulate me with sex. He must not be that smart if he thinks that’s actually going to work. I said those things in the heat of the moment and because I really needed to fucking come, but that doesn’t mean I meant it. Hell, I would’ve told him the sky was purple if that meant he’d give me what I needed.

Regardless, that was really damn hot. The way I yelled at him, and he yelled back, and then we just attacked each other. Every moment of our first night together has replayed in my head since it happened, but now… angry Evan is the one who will haunt me in my dreams. Angry Evan is hot and demanding and knows just how to tease the fuck out of me. I almost hate him for it. Except I could never hate a man who knows how to worship my body like he does.

But God, does he really have to be such a controlling asshole?

I scoop my scrubs and shoes off the floor and adjust my just-fucked hair. Once my top is on, I search for my panties. When I don’t find them on the floor, I shake out my scrub bottoms, but they aren’t there either. What the fuck?

Panic starts to surface at the realization that I lost my damn panties. Shit, shit, shit.

My pager beeps, and it’s painfully obvious I’m going to have to put my pants on without them. Quickly, I finish getting dressed and push my shoes on before grabbing my lab coat and the soiled shirt and flying out the door.

I throw Evan’s shirt in the trash before anyone can see me and ask questions.

Rushing to the nurses’ station for an update, I look around but don’t see any commotion or people scrambling like normal. “What’s going on? You paged me?” I ask, trying to catch my breath.

Fiona looks at me like I’ve gone crazy. She swallows and lowers her eyes before bringing them back up to look at me. She witnessed the heated argument back in the trauma room, and now she looks uncomfortable as hell. “Dr. Bishop asked me to page you. He wanted me to tell you that your break is over and to get back to work.” I can tell she’s uneasy delivering the news, but that doesn’t stop the anger from brewing inside me.

The vein in my forehead is about to burst, but I remind myself to play it cool. For all they knew, Evan sent me on the break to calm down, and now I’m the one looking like a slacker.

“Okay. Thanks.” I pinch my lips together to prevent any further words from spewing out of me. No one can know that Evan and I are…whatever the hell we are. Considering I came to this hospital to make a name for myself all on my own, the last thing I need is people thinking I sleep my way to the top.

Crap.

“Dr. Bell,” Evan barks from the other side of the room. He’s holding a pile of charts in his hands that are no doubt from the huge fire incident that just unfolded.

Taking a deep breath, I put my lab coat on and dig my stethoscope from the pocket and wrap it around my neck. We have to act impartially to each other publicly, but hell, I didn’t realize how hard it’d be now that we’re together.

“Yes, Dr. Bishop?”

He doesn’t even look up at me when I approach him, and I hate that it irritates me.

“I need you on beds seven through fifteen until the next shift rotation, then finish these charts before you leave.” His head tilts up, his lips in a firm line as he piles the stack in my arms. “I also need an update on the Brauer kids once an hour.”

Swallowing, I adjust the charts in my arms to prevent them from falling. I won’t let my pride get in the way of doing my job, and if charts are what I need to do right now, then I won’t make a scene. At least not in front of everyone. However, once we’re alone, I’m going to give him a piece of my mind for treating me like a damn intern again.

“Absolutely. Anything else, sir?” My tone is laced with fake sweetness, and he doesn’t flinch a beat at it.

“Yes, actually.” He takes a step forward and dips his head until his mouth hovers over my ear. “Make sure those charts are done correctly before you leave. I’ll be looking through them extensively.”

“Of course.” I grind my teeth, wishing I could give him a piece of my mind right now.

“And since I know you’re going commando, I won’t ask you to perform any oral procedures.” He winks before walking away, making my blood boil.

That asshole stole my panties!

Never Been Good:

USA Today bestseller Christi Barth returns with another steamy Bad Boys Gone Good novel!

Flynn Maguire isn’t really a bad guy. Sure, he worked for the mob, but he ran a legitimate business—on paper anyway—and it paid enough to keep his brother out of the lifestyle.

Until they turned on him. Now he’s stuck in Witness Protection, tending bar in Nowheresville Oregon… and pissed the life he knew is gone. The only bright spot? Fantasizing about his quiet, secretive, beautiful coworker.

Sierra Williams is a woman on the run. All she wants now is to settle into small town life… and ignore the brooding, sexy bartender who can’t seem to take his eyes off her. Flynn’s bad-boy vibe pushes all her buttons, but Sierra fell for the wrong man once already. She can’t afford to let her guard down again. Except Flynn’s tough exterior is slowly melting away to reveal the sweet man beneath and their attraction is too strong to resist.

Sierra and Flynn are falling fast, but they’re both keeping so many secrets. The truth could ruin everything… unless a girl who’s a little bad is perfect for a guy who’s never really been good.

Excerpt:

He’d tried not to let her get to him. But her big eyes and even bigger heart were exactly what she’d just said—impossible to resist. Sierra made him want to tell her how she made him feel.

She made him want to tell her everything.

Which was dangerous as fuck.

But . . . he could still show her how he felt. Show her, no, lavish her with feelings. Turn Sierra into a quivering, satisfied mass of feeling. Then she’d know what was in his head and his heart without him using any words at all.

It was a solid plan.

Flynn pulled her in to him, latching on to her mouth like it was the last kiss two people on earth would ever share. This kiss would let Sierra know his intent for the next, oh, six to eight hours.

Pleasuring her.

Making her scream his name.

Making her beg him to keep going.

Giving her literally everything she could take.

Flynn devoured her mouth. He poured his heart into it, pulling breathy little moans out of her. His tongue circled. Teeth nipped and bit. Sucked and licked. Treasured and claimed. It was an unending stream of every kind of kiss he’d ever given. All completely different here, now, as he gave them to Sierra.

As he gave himself to Sierra.

Whether she fully realized it or not.

Now that she had his shirt clutched in her fists, Flynn let go of her arms. Instead, he moved to cup her face with his palms. Slid her ears in between his fingers. From the gasp that pulsed out of her mouth, he could tell they were sensitive. Flynn filed that under get to later. Sex would come, but now was about this kiss. It was his promise, his vow, his heart, all poured into her.

So he gentled his approach, turning from lustful to tender. He gave her tongue long, slow strokes exactly like he’d do between her legs later. Tickled his pinkie along her neck that immediately brought up goose bumps beneath his touch.

But mostly he drank in her moans, her gasps, the heat she gave back to him by meeting his every kiss with an urgent need of her own. All the outward proof of her lust fueled his. Every response from her, every sigh and sound and flutter of her lashes sizzled just beneath his skin like a hot wire.

Sierra matched him, stroke for lick for bite. Her hips swung back and forth, grinding her belly against his dick. The shyness, the hesitancy from the first time he’d kissed her was gone. There was just a woman, no, his woman, who showed him right back how badly she wanted this.

Flynn’s eyes popped open. Maybe it was stupid. Maybe it was over-the-top mushy. But he wanted to look at everything around him. Take a mental picture of it to always remember this exact moment.

Because there was no guarantee he’d make it back from the trial in Chicago to have lots more of these moments.

Life didn’t care if you lubed up before it fucked you. He’d learned that the hard way.

Put him on the front of a god damned card with a heart and a flower and a puppy—the whole works. Flynn Maguire was memorizing this moment. The one where he and Sierra had sex for the first time.

Because it mattered.

Intrepid by Keri Lake.. Blog Tour & Review

Today we have the blog tour for Keri Lake’s INTREPID. We are so excited to share this new release with you! Grab your copy today!

Title: Intrepid

Author: Keri Lake

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Intrepid:

In the corner house of an empty street, there is a boy inside a box. In that boy, there lives a secret, one so dark, it’s sealed with locks.

Nearly ten years have passed since the night I was captured. Tricked and betrayed, I suffered the hours of brutal torment with death’s cold whisper across my skin. And when the nameless faces that haunted my nightmares took everything and everyone I loved, I feared I’d never be free of the darkness.

But that’s the thing about fear. Over time, it breeds anger, and when anger fills the box, vengeance bleeds out.

It’s been almost a decade since I escaped their hell, staying in the shadows, hiding my demons, and God help them now that I’ve tasted retribution and crave more of it.

Blood is the price for pain, and I vow to take everything and everyone they love. I’m no longer a frightened boy, but the intrepid vigilante, a ruthless executioner, who will stop at nothing to punish the depraved few that stole my life and walked free.

The plan is perfect, except for her. The one woman I’m forbidden to have, whose soothing touch settles my fractured mind. My angel of mercy sent to silence the voices. Yet, not even she can save me from the black void wherein my skeletons lie buried beneath the truth. Because in order to feed my thirst for revenge, I have to destroy the very thing that gives me purpose.

Tooth for a tooth, heart for a heart.

YES! YES! YES! YES! Everyone needs Keri Lake and her brilliant books in their reading repertoire. There are no words out there to explain the awesomeness that is Keri and her books. Keri has once again, blown me away.

Intrepid is listed as a contemporary romance because it has the components of it, but for me it’s also along the lines of dark, suspenseful romance. And I love it! This is where Keri shines – she’s my go-to for this genre and what I compare a lot of other books to. This book isn’t nearly as gritty, raw and gruesome as some of her others, but it’s still just as damn good.

“I was already on God’s shit list, so why not sweeten the ride to hell?”

Ty is a paradox, an enigma that has you questioning some of his actions but at the same time, you totally understand his reasoning. He has this passion for danger and an allure that draws the women to him; plus he’s not too bad on the eyes either. He’s conflicted over Sera and does this push and pull with her that adds to the hype in this book.

Sera doesn’t fit the mold that everyone expects of her – your typical high-class, mousy little girl with Daddy Warbucks as her father. She’s hellraiser with her spitfire attitude. She’s seen the dark side too many times and it’s left marks on her – both emotional and physical. The walls she has put up she never intended for anyone to get through, that is until she finds herself reluctant to to stay away from Ty.

“Like light and dark, fire and water, the moon and the sun trying to come together. We didn’t mix.”

The attraction between Sera and Ty is off the charts even if isn’t the most healthy. It is real and raw and in their world, that’s the closest to honesty they’ve ever had. You find yourself understanding their need to ignite this small kindling into a firestorm because sometimes that best thing is the wrong thing.

“This is about me tormenting you. Showing you how it feels wanting to grab onto something, all the while knowing your hands are tied.”

Keri delivers another gritty and passionate story filled with scenes that will leave you questioning your sanity and others that will leave you breathless. There is no black and white in this world, there is only justice. And sometimes justice is delivered in the most horrific of ways.

“Hope’s a fickle bitch sometimes. Personally, I’ve never been much of a fan. But fate? Now, she’s the real deal.”

Keri is a brilliant mastermind with her writing; her talent is unlike any other I have read before. Keri is the epitome of a dark and suspenseful romance author and Intrepid is just one of the many books that showcases her vivid and remarkable talent.

At the end of this book is a bonus scene featuring the characters from Ricochet, Aubree and Nick which I absolutely loved!!! So if you haven’t read that yet, go read it afterward this one and the come back and read the bonus content!

Yup – there is always one of us in the crowd and I am usually that one. :/ But bare with me and I will explain myself.

Ok, so I apparently missed the boat on this one. I see so many 5 stars with this book and I feel like I missed something. Or maybe it was just bad timing in reading this book for me. I was so looking forward to reading this book, that I think maybe too much time passed for me between the books and I lost the “oomph” I had from the last book.

I remember Closer so well and was super excited to start this one. But as I was reading this book, somewhere in between 25% and 50%, I felt the book go flat and lost the momentum I had going in. Teller and Ella started to annoy me with their tendencies and felt like they were moving nowhere – rinse, wash, repeat but just in different atmospheres. UGH

It was until the huge bomb was dropped that things sort of picked up for me, but at this point, I had almost DNF the book but refused to only because I enjoyed Closer so much and wanted to see where Teller and Ella ended up. Everything seemed to move at a better pace for me and these two stopped doing their dysfunctional dance and moved forward.

I have to say that Mary’s writing is unique and beautiful. It’s another reason why I stuck with this story. I think the time frame between these two books is what hurt me the most – not that I forgot anything that happened, but the intense feelings I felt after finishing Closer, were gone. 🙁

Mary does do a great job of keeping her characters as they are, but I felt there were portions that things were dragged out, which hurt the book for me. I love the dysfunction of Teller and Ella – that’s what makes this duet stand out from others. They aren’t cookie cutter and they stay true to themselves. That’s another reason why I continued on with this book. But it wasn’t enough to make me feel everything I felt in that first book.

Overall, I am sure if these two books are read back to back, I have no doubt they will be perfect and people will love them. For me, it was a letdown from book one and I hate that, I really do. But that won’t stop me from reading any other books by Mary. I truly believe this was just the case of it’s me, not the book. And truly, that sucks.

My Dear Hamilton by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie…Excerpt Blog Tour Stop

Wife, Widow, and Warrior in Alexander Hamilton’s Quest for a More Perfect Union

From the New York Times bestselling authors of America’s First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton—a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. Haunting, moving, and beautifully written, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza’s story as it’s never been told before—not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal—but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

A general’s daughter…

Coming of age on the perilous frontier of revolutionary New York, Elizabeth Schuyler champions the fight for independence. And when she meets Alexander Hamilton, Washington’s penniless but passionate aide-de-camp, she’s captivated by the young officer’s charisma and brilliance. They fall in love, despite Hamilton’s bastard birth and the uncertainties of war.

A Founding Father’s wife…

But the union they create—in their marriage and the new nation—is far from perfect. From glittering inaugural balls to bloody street riots, the Hamiltons are at the center of it all—including the political treachery of America’s first sex scandal, which forces Eliza to struggle through heartbreak and betrayal to find forgiveness.

The last surviving light of the Revolution…

When a duel destroys Eliza’s hard-won peace, the grieving widow fights her husband’s enemies to preserve Alexander’s legacy. But long-buried secrets threaten everything Eliza believes about her marriage and her own legacy. Questioning her tireless devotion to the man and country that have broken her heart, she’s left with one last battle—to understand the flawed man she married and imperfect union he could never have created without her…

Excerpt:

So after nursing my newborn, I took Philip for a short but painful stroll to the printer, then up Broadway past the hospital to the nearby apothecary shop. “Mrs. Hamilton,” the apothecary said in a scolding tone, his bushy brows knitted behind the counter. “You’re so soon out of childbed. I’d have come to you if you’d sent a servant or Colonel Hamilton to fetch me.”

“I just needed some fresh air, raspberry leaves for my cramps, and a little lavender oil for my aching head.”

While I kept my curious boy from reaching for one of the many fascinating corked glass jars on the counter, the apothecary rummaged through the drawers and we chatted about the various states that had ratified the Constitution—six by my count, five by his.

“You forgot Massachusetts,” I said, just as the roar of angry voices reached our ears.

We both looked up toward the street to see a horde of angry men marching from the direction of the battery. A mob. I’d once seen a group of men like this armed with feathers and tar. This time, they had sticks and, as I was about to learn, a far more righteous rage. “Grave-robbing bastards!” someone shouted, just before a brick sailed through the glass window, sending a spray of shards at my feet. Instinctively, I grabbed my son and pulled him behind the counter. But from where I crouched, I saw the swarm move right past us on the street.

I could guess their destination.

The hospital. For the Constitution was not the only divisive thing in the newspapers that year. It had been reported that medical students, in need of cadavers to dissect, dug up bodies in the Negro Burial Ground outside the city. No one of prominence had seemed to care until the corpse of a white woman from Trinity Churchyard was also dug up and stolen.

Now the public was in an uproar.

I knew the importance of cadavers to the field of medical science, but I couldn’t help but shudder at the gross indignity of having anyone I loved violated and dissected in such a way.

As we heard the crash of more windows farther down the street, the apothecary rose to wrap a sheltering arm around my shoulder. “I’ll get you and the boy home,” he said, rushing us out the back. Across the way, furious citizens broke the hospital door to splinters and overran the hospital, sending young medical students running in every direction. Over my shoulder, I saw a young doctor climbing from a window. And my son stared as shouting men hauled cauldrons of dismembered body parts out of the hospital, the stench of it recalling the war immediately to my mind.

We saw a bloody foot, a swollen human head in a bottle, and some poor fellow’s pickled genitals hanging from a string before we fled up Broadway, only to come against hundreds more furious men blocking our way. The jostling crowd swept us up like a tidal wave, separating us from the apothecary and nearly tearing Philip’s hand from mine. Breathless and frightened, having quite forgotten about aches and pains, I realized the mob was descending upon the original nearby buildings of the old King’s College—which had been recently renamed the more republican Columbia College.

“Bring out the butchers!” someone in the mob cried, and I knew they were looking for medical students to punish.

“Keep walking,” I whispered to Philip. But my son made of himself a dead weight, pointing with one hand at something I couldn’t see. And then the crowd parted to reveal my husband on the college stairs, pleading with the mob to see reason.

Hamilton was a great orator, and his military voice could just be heard over the fray. “The mayor has already jailed the culprits. Allow the law—”

The mob pushed past him, breaking open the doors to the chapel, the library, and the dorms of the college he’d recently helped reopen.

Then he caught sight of us and dodged the rioters until we were all together, and he tugged us into his arms. “Dear God, Betsy, what the devil are you doing here?”

Excerpt:

My breath catches. This was only supposed to be about wild sex with a hot, irresistible man. I should have known. The moment he walked inside Fix I knew he was a paradox. A puzzle, one I played with, slowly fitting all the broken pieces together until the whole picture now sits before me, a picture so beautiful it steals my breath.

“Kelly.” He watches me, his face close to mine. “You were never meant to get involved. It’s not your fight.”

He draws back like I’ve slapped him the face.

I fumble for his hand, grabbing it before he can withdraw any further. “It’s always been my fight. I don’t have friends. I don’t have boyfriends. I don’t sleep around. I’ve always kept people at arms-length because I don’t live a life where I can answer the kinds of questions they ask of me. Then you came along and I thought maybe this once it would be nice, real fucking nice to pretend I could have something beautiful for myself. Only you weren’t what I expected. You pissed me off. You made me laugh and you made me ache, and you made me want you so damn much. You did all that and now I can’t imagine how I lived a life without you in it. You give so much of yourself without even realising it. Even now you’re taking my fight and making it your own, and I hate myself for being so selfish and letting you.”

When she’s not busy running after naughty kids, filthy dogs, and writing books, you can find her curled up in bed in the early hours of the morning reading new books and re-reading old favourites.
