Amazon   *   Barnes & Noble   *   Goodreads

Synopsis:

A famous archaeologist, last rumored to be in search of a hidden Maya city in Guatemala, has gone missing. Her daughter. Serena, worried and overcome by strange visions, abandons everything to search for her mother and the answers to the apparitions that have begun to haunt her.

Her mother wasn’t the only one searching for Mah K’ina. The Baron seeks to plunder the city for its untold riches and is willing to eliminate anyone that gets in his way. Out of her element and desperate to save her family, Serena must now rely on her past to show her the way.

Excerpt:

When the Barón finally looked up at her, still being held roughly by the arm of the guard, he gave an odd sort of smile.

“Please, have a seat.”

The guard thrust her into a nearby chair, hands still cuffed behind her. A nod from the Barón and the guard left them alone in the tent, setting her bag down on the table before departing. The Barón addressed her first in Spanish, but Serena interrupted.

“Inglés, señor.”

Better that he thinks I don’t know Spanish at all… That could prove invaluable later. Besides, I can understand more than I can speak anyway.

“To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit, señorita? Why do you call on the Barón?”

It was the first time Serena heard him speak in English. The Barón’s accent was faint, but noticeable, giving away his Spanish ancestry. The trace of an accent and his looks made him seem exotic and otherworldly.

I can’t tell him the truth…

“I’m, uh…just a tourist. I don’t know why I’m being held here, but if you could direct me to the nearest town, I would be eternally grateful.”

The Barón looked at her, sizing her up.

“No, I think not. You are familiar…and a long way from any public ruins.”

He turned his attention to her bag and began rifling through her belongings.

“Please, there’s no need to do that. I just need to find my way to town…”

“Ah, here we are.”

He pulled her passport from the bag and flipped through the pages.

“Serena Hatsutsil Bakal… That is no American name, señorita.”

So much for that…

“‘Hatsutsil’ is Maya for ‘beauty,’ is it not? Someone gave you that name deliberately, I think. You are a beauty…and you are Maya.”

Dad gave me that name… He said when he saw me, it was if I had come straight from the heavens themselves. Hatsutsil, daughter… But, Maya? Mom met Dad at a dig-site, but she never told me where he was from…

“Your skin may be pale, but your features betray your heritage. High cheekbones, slightly upturned eyes, straight, coal-black hair…”

He approached her then, lifting a few stray hairs that had fallen in her face, casually brushing them aside. She could see his ring in great detail now, the jade eyes of the jaguar staring menacingly at her.

“Those eyes, though. They are your mother’s, are they not? I have seen those pale blue eyes before.  You must be terribly worried about her.”

“My what? No, you…”

The Barón returned to his desk and sat down with great deliberateness.

“Serena, do not play me the fool. If it wasn’t your eyes, you share her name. I know you came for her. When I saw you yesterday, I suspected… but seeing you here confirms those suspicions. How you got all the way through the forest unharmed, I do not know. If you were travelling with a guide, he is long gone now or my men would have found him.”

Yeah, good luck with that. He’s probably in a tree somewhere.

“Fine, you know my ‘secret.’ I came to find my mother. What does that matter to you?”

“Ah, yes. Your timing is perfect, señorita. I will need you if I’m to convince your mother to help us. She will be so happy to see you, I’m sure. Once we find her, that is. That has been a little… challenging. But do not worry. Nothing stops the Barón for long.”

“Even if I wanted to help you, and I don’t… You don’t even know where she is. You expect me to just hang around until you find her? I don’t think so.”

He let out a deep, long laugh, echoing throughout the still air of the tent.

“Señorita, you do not understand. You have no choice. Fate has brought you here. I will not let you slip away so easily.”

About the author:

Holly McCaghrenI was born and raised in the Houston, Texas area, and have lived in Texas my whole life! (Gotta love humidity!) I currently live in central Texas with my husband and two sons.

Nothing makes me happier than settling down with a good book, but they aren’t always easy to find! Some of my favorites (in no particular order) include: Jane Eyre, The Blue Sword, Dracula, Ender’s Game, Heir to the Empire, and the Harry Potter series. I love a good scifi/fantasy book, but it certainly isn’t limited to that genre.

Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop

Audio Tour Best-of-2103-Blog-Hop1

Happy New Year!

It is time for the Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop and my friend Rina, who stops by with her audiobook reviews, will  be highlighting  her favorite 3 audiobooks from 2013.

This hop is hosted by The Book NymphoHot Listens, and Geeky Bloggers Book Blog.  It runs from Jan 1 2014 to Jan 15 2014.

For our blog hop giveaway, Rina and Read-Love-Blog will be giving away a $15 iTunes Gift Card to one lucky winner! (enter in the rafflecopter below)

Enjoy!

When I first decided to participate in the Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop, I believed pinning down my top three for 2013 would be quite easy. For the most part it was, but I had the pleasure of enjoying quite a few good listens this year. There are a couple of things that I feel are a must when picking out my audiobook favorites. Most importantly, the narrator. With the perfect narrator sometimes even the most ordinary of stories can be brought to life in a way that sticks with the listener long after. Second, if not tied for first, is a great story that leaves the listener sad it had to end.

#1.assassin's code

Assassin’s Code

by Jonathan Maberry

Narrated by Ray Porter

Length: 15 hrs and 39 mins

Link: http://www.amazon.com/Assassins-Code-Joe-Ledger-Novel/dp/0312552203/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388426311&sr=8-1&keywords=assassin%27s+code

I couldn’t have a best of 2013 without a Joe Ledger novel. Assassin’s Code by Jonathan Maberry is book 4 in the series and was actually published in 2012. If someone is thinking of diving into the world of audiobooks, this series would always be at the top of my list of suggestions. The narrator, Ray Porter is the epitome of brilliance. His delivery and range of voice inflections is without an equal.

Only Jonathan Maberry could make the unbelievable believable as Ledger once again finds himself elbow deep in danger; this time involving a brotherhood of gentically-engineered killers whose thirst for blood rivals a monster of lore. Aided by his four-legged teammate, Ghost, a white husky and a female assassin called Violin, Ledger must unravel forbidden secrets in search of the truth before nuclear Armageddon breaks loose.

#2.reaver cover

Reaver

by Larissa Ione

Narrated by Helen Wick

Length: 12 hrs and 17 mins

Link: http://www.amazon.com/Reaver-Demonica-Series-Larissa-Ione/dp/1455526975/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388426362&sr=8-1&keywords=reaver

The list of my highly anticipated books from series has unfortunately dwindled in the past couple of years for various reasons, but I am pleased to say Larissa Ione’s The Demonica/Lords of Deliverance series has a firm foothold on its spot. The series has been through several narrators, with Helen Wick being the best in my opinion, switching definitively from character to character with ease.

Larissa Ione is a master world builder, submersing the reader into the at times terrifying struggle between angels and demons, good and evil. Reaver is determined to rescue Harvester, a fallen angel, from her unimaginable torture at the hands of Satan and his minions, no matter the cost. Molten sparks fly and I’m not just talking brimstone.

#3.NOS4A2 Cover

NOS4A2

by Joe Hill

Narrated by Kate Mulgrew

Length: 19 hrs and 41 mins

Link: http://www.amazon.com/NOS4A2-A-Novel-Joe-Hill/dp/0062200585/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388426388&sr=8-1&keywords=nos4a2

My last pick for 2013 is none other than the spine-tingling horrific thriller, NOS4A2 by Joe Hill. The legendary Kate Mulgrew narrates with expert delivery, giving an unforgettably bone-chilling performance as the villain, Charles Manx.

Joe Hill joins the ranks of some horror heavy hitters with NOS4A2, the story of Victoria McQueen whose special gift of finding things lands her right in the crosshairs of the terrifying Charlie Manx, abductor of children. Vic is forced to use her gift and find Charlie’s 1938 Rolls Royce Wraith when his new passenger happens to be her own son.

Just a few quick honorable mentions for 2013: Snow White Must Die by Nele Neuhaus, The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa and Styxx by Sherrylin Kenyon.

Excerpt:

Jake put his arm over the back of the couch. His fingers grazed my shoulder, then

he twisted them in the ends of my hair, sending a tingly sensation along my scalp “Nope.

Just had some experience with stuff like this before.”

“You think you’ve got women all figured out, then, do you?” I asked.

Jake shook his head. “No way. Every time you think you do, they change the rules on you. Like they could love the way you were yesterday and hate it the next day.”

“Every now and then, we change our minds. It’s our prerogative. The big secret is”—I leaned in conspiratorially—“sometimes, even we don’t know why. There are times after we pick a fight where we’re as confused as you are. But there’s no way we’re admitting it.” I shrugged a shoulder. “That’s why we have boobs.”

Jake’s eyebrows shot up.

“See, after we’ve acted crazy, and the guy’s wondering what he’s doing with us, we use them to mesmerize him, so he forgets that we’re crazy.” I shot Jake my most seductive smile and leaned the assets in question against his arm. “And by the way, if you look at my cleavage right now, even though I’m the one talking about it, I’ll accuse you of not caring about what I say and of just treating me like an object.”

Jake swallowed hard, keeping eye contact with me, though I could tell he was fighting his impulse to look down. A mischievous glint flickered through his eyes. “And treating you like an object would be bad?”

“It depends on how big a deal you make about how smart, funny, talented, etcetera, etcetera I am first.”

Jake slid his hand behind my neck and swept his thumb along my jaw. “Have I told you how smart, funny, talented, and etcetera I think you are?”

“You think I’m going to fall for that when I just fed you the lines?” Before he could answer, I kissed him. Using his hand on my neck, he pulled me closer, forcing my lips open with his tongue. His other hand slid up my thigh, and even through jeans, my skin burned from his touch.

About the author:

Cindi Madsen sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting, revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children. She is the author of YA books All the Broken Pieces, Cipher, and Demons of the Sun and adult romances Falling for Her Fiancé, Act Like You Love Me, and Cinderella Screwed Me Over.

Synopsis:

Gracie has just finished her freshman year of college in Memphis when she takes a job at a local pizza joint in her home town of McKenzie, Tennessee. She is the epitome of innocence when she meets Noah. Noah is unabashedly handsome, intriguingly reckless and just cocky enough to be sexy. Gracie’s instincts tell her to stay far away from him and based on the stories she hears from her co-workers he leaves broken hearts in his wake. But still, she can’t explain her fascination with him.

Noah puts aside his bad boy ways when what he thought was a summer crush has him unexpectedly falling in love. But soon after Gracie transfers to UT Knoxville to be with Noah, their unexpected love becomes riddled with anger, deceit and humiliation.

Jake, Noah’s former roommate and Gracie’s best friend, can no longer be a bystander. Gracie’s world falls out from beneath her and when she breaks she turns to Jake for strength. As Jake talks her through a decision she’s not yet strong enough to make, together they uncover a truth so ugly neither of them is prepared for its fallout. Will Jake pull her to the surface or is Gracie Jordan finally In Too Deep?

Excerpt:

My phone buzzed.

Jake: Gracie?

I turned off my phone. The doorbell rang before I even had a chance to feel guilty for not answering. I threw the covers over my head and lay there, eyes wide open. It rang again. Can someone please get the door? I’m too busy feeling sorry for myself to get up.

Ding dong.

I groaned as I pulled myself from under the covers and flung my legs off the edge of my bed. The UPS man was going to get an eyeful because I didn’t even have the energy to pull my sleep pants on. The super huge t-shirt I wore to bed was longer than some skirts I had. I would just have to reach around the opened door, sign something on his little clipboard and throw the package on the hall table before jumping right back into bed. No one was home. I could have slept all day. Stupid delivery guy.

But when I rounded the corner into the foyer, I could see Noah through the side window to the right of the door. My heart slammed its next beat so hard I was sure someone standing in front of me would have seen my ribcage lunge forward.

“What do you want?” I said the words on my side of the window. He didn’t need to hear me, he had to be expecting something like that. He knew I wouldn’t be happy to see him. I was pissed that he was at my door. Flashes of my birthday night coursed through my mind one by one. I winced and squeezed my eyes closed hoping to wring the images from my head.

“Gracie, I know you don’t want to open the door, but I need you to listen to what I have to say.” He was talking louder than he needed to for me to hear him. I was instantly annoyed. I shuddered.

“So talk.” If I kept a locked door between us, I could walk away whenever I’d had enough.

“Can I please come in?”

“No.”

“Okay, I’ll talk through a window if that’s the only way you’ll listen.” He waited a couple seconds like he thought I’d have a change of heart and open the door. When he saw that was not in his cards, he started talking. I leaned my forehead against the cool glass and watched his lips form words that proved introspection, self-awareness and a level of thought so deep I could do nothing but hold my breath and wish he wasn’t doing this to me.

“Gracie. I haven’t had a solid example of how to show love or how to accept it. At least not the depth of love you are willing to give. I don’t know how to reciprocate that without feeling terrified. I never expected to fall so hard for you. I never thought I could love someone so hard it hurt. But I can. I do.

“Gracie. When you look at me and I know you can see all the way into my soul, my first instinct is self-preservation. I instinctively push you away so you won’t climb deeper into me. Your heart is so big, Gracie, it could swallow me whole, and that scares the shit out of me because I shouldn’t be worthy of that kind of love. I don’t deserve you. I guess in a twisted sort of way, I push you away to save you.”

The window steamed from the warm breath escaping between my lips. I remembered the conversation I had with my mom. She said only if it was of their own volition could someone truly make a change. I couldn’t believe what was happening in front of me. A huge part of me didn’t want it to be happening because Noah and I proved to be a disaster. I knew I couldn’t handle one more blow from him. My sanity was already climbing the walls. But, as if they had minds of their own, one hand turned the deadbolt and the other opened the door. Cool air across my thighs reminded me I was still only in a t-shirt. I motioned for Noah to follow me back to my room. I needed to put more clothes on so he didn’t ruin his heart-felt apology by making a move on me. He sat on my bed and I pulled sweats off the hook on the back of my door and slid myself inside them. I sat down next to him. He took my hands in his.

“I am head over heels in love with you, Gracie. I have been since the night you kissed me after the fireworks. I’ve always thought that shock between our lips was a sign that you were the one. I’m terrified of that. If I let myself truly feel the level of love I know we are capable of, then what happens if you leave me? I don’t know how to handle that kind of pain. I am sure I’ve never felt something that severe.”

“Noah, you just described what you have done to me, over and over and over. You have split my heart wide open so many times because, unlike you, I don’t know how to guard my heart. I opened it to you almost two years ago, and I’ve been giving you all I have ever since. I can’t turn it off, I don’t know how. So, when you pierce me with your hateful words, the pain is palpable. It takes me to my knees.” There was no holding back the tears. I didn’t even try to. I was done walking on eggshells. Again.

That’s when he did something I never thought I’d see. He fell into my lap and cried like a baby. I had taken all the pain he had inflicted on me and threw it straight to his heart before he had the chance to get that wall back up.

My Review:

I am beyond lucky to have received an advance copy of In Too Deep, the debut work from Michelle Brownlow. This was a story that pulled me in and didn’t let go….and I loved it!

Gracie is a happy, innocent, southern good girl with a great life, a great boyfriend with her whole college career, and life, ahead of her.  Everything is going well in her life until she meets Noah, the typical handsome, rugged bad boy with a reputation that screams: STAY AWAY.  As much as Gracie knows all about Noah, and his frat-boy ways, she also knows he shows her a softer side of himself that no one has ever had the honor of seeing.  It’s a rare glimpse into his soul she knows she can’t resist and isn’t willing to run from, no matter how bad his reputation is.

Noah has had his fair share of girls…but there’s something about Gracie.  She makes him want to be a better person.  He realizes he’s fallen for her….hard and fast. The problem is, he’s been the bad boy for so long, it’s all he knows.  The revolving door of girls, the parties, the booze and the cocky attitude that comes with it.  Hell bent on getting Gracie, he’s willing to do whatever it takes.  But when Gracie transfers to his college, even the best laid plans can crumble….and soon Noah’s ability in excelling at being a bad boy prick outshines his efforts to be the kind of guy she needs and deserves.

Gracie and Noah have a road ahead that will end up taking a toll on emotions, friendships and will end up crushing each of them in very different ways.

As I has said earlier in this review, this book pulled me in and didn’t let go until I read the very last word on the very last page….even as I write this review, Gracie and Noah’s story is with me.  This was a high emotion, gut wrenching, beautifully bittersweet love story…one that I’m sure many of us can relate to.  It’s a story about being so in love with a person that no matter what their faults are, the want and need to believe in that person trumps all reason…even if you know deep down inside what you are fighting for simply isn’t worth it.  I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to scream at Noah, and Gracie, while reading.  Michelle has done such an amazing job at transporting the reader into Gracie and Noah’s world and feeling all of the twisted emotions in this story.  I audibly gasped and was actually talking to Gracie while I was reading….I’m not sure if I have ever done that before with a book!  I was so utterly conflicted while reading Gracie and Noah’s relationship and the up’s and down’s that came with it.  And let me say, they were some great up’s and dismal down’s…but I loved it and I felt it.  I felt the hurt and the pain and the happiness.  Gracie grew up before our eyes, thanks to some amazing friends, and I was cheering for her to become the woman she had the potential to be from the very first chapter.  Noah is a sad soul, who I was also cheering for…but there are some things that he did that I had to put my megaphone away for.  The back and forth between them took a toll on me, but in my opinion, that’s the sign of a good book.  I want to feel something in the hours after I’ve finished reading, and Michelle has done that with In Too Deep.

I was a nervous wreck for the ending.  Noah had pulled my back into his corner many, many times throughout the story that I was truly conflicted with if I wanted them together or not.  Well, I won’t spoil it, but I will say I was relieved and delighted with how it played out.  Perfect, if you ask me.

Thank you, Michelle, for an amazing story.  I look forward to reading more from you and I know you have a bright future bringing us your amazing writing talent!

About the author:

Michelle Kemper Brownlow has been a storyteller her entire life. Her debut was on the high school cheerleading bus granting requests to re-tell her most embarrassing moments for a gaggle of hysterical squadmates.
Earning her Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in Art Education and then marrying her very own “Jake,” she moved to Binghamton, NY where she taught high school. After having two children she quit work and finished her Master’s degree in Elementary Education at Binghamton University.

The Brownlow family of four moved to Michelle’s hometown of Morgantown, PA while the children were still quite young. A few years after moving, her family grew by one when they welcomed a baby into their home through the gift of adoption. The family still resides in PA, just miles from where that high school cheer bus was parked.

Michelle has been an artist for as long as she can remember, always choosing pencils and crayons over toys and puzzles. As a freelance illustrator, her simple characters play the starring roles in numerous emergent reader books published by Reading Reading Books.

“Writing is my way of making sense of the world. When I give my characters life on the pages I write, it frees up space in my mind to welcome in new stories that are begging to be told,” says Brownlow.

Blog Tour….My Now & Forever by H.J. Bellus

My now & Forever Blog Tour Badge

I am so happy to be a part of the blog tour for My Now & Forever by H.J. Bellus!

I was lucky enough to ask Milly and Lacey some questions (you KNOW they were all kinds of silly and juicy questions) and the gals were kind enough to answer!  There’s a great giveaway happening, too! You can enter to win an ecopy of My Now & Forever, a My Now & Forever notebook, cupcake necklace or a 425 Amazon gift card!  The rafflecopter is below the interview.

Enjoy!

Me:

Ok gals, so I have to warn you, I’m not really the “serious” type of interviewer.  So, I would be asking things like “If you could feed the world, how would you do it?” or “If men really are from Mars, does that mean we’ve been living a sci-fi lie?”.  I have a hard time being serious!  Serious isn’t as much fun!  Ok, so now that’s out of the way, let’s get to business:

Lacey:

Since we can’t actually see your tattoos, can you tell us about some of them?

I got my first tattoo at fifteen to cover up some of my past.  I love color and my tattoos color me.   I have a blue bird that sits on the middle of my back.  A crown and hearts up the side of my left ribs and a skull sits on my hip.  My right arm is covered in a sleeve of vines.  Each one has a meaning.  Some are for the one person I ever loved, my momma.  The others for the people I fucking hate in this world.  They are reminders to never let anyone hurt me again. Frankly, there are too many to name.  I have a colorful tat that covers my lady bits, but you will have to follow my journey to find out what it is.

What’s the absolute worst coffee concoction Milly has made so far?

Jesus!  Milly can be such a creative dumbass sometimes.  She made a tropical harvest mocha for me once.  It had banana, coconut and pumpkin flavoring in the coffee.  I fucking tossed my cookies that morning after tasting it.  She can really be a dumbass, but she is my favorite dumbass.

One thing you can tell us about Milly that we don’t already know…c’mon…dish it, girl!

Milly likes to take it in the butt.  Just kidding!  But let’s start that rumor.  Tell everyone you know.  Let’s see.  You all know she is a cum guzzler and completely whorish with her husband.  And she has been banged by a hot mechanic.  I know!  She secretly has a crush on Cee Lo Green.  She wants Cee Lo to bend her over and butt fuck her real good.  We just need to find a stool for the duo.  Sike!  What kind of a biotch would I be to give up her secrets?  Nice try!

Milly:

Awww….how’s that stud muffin, Cree doing?   And Annie?

Cree is simply amazing and hot as ever.  He is busy farming and taking care of us.  He showers us with sprinkles and unconditional love.  Some nights when he is working late my crazy-ass doubt creeps in.  I get scared that he has left.  I always text or call him when this happens and his sexy ass is home in minutes. Cree makes us Mac n’ Cheese at least once a week and we try to eat pumpkin pie as much as possible.

Annie is still perfect!  We are working on getting her cussing under control.  You can tell she has been hanging out with us girls way too much.  I still remember the night she called Olive a “twat waffle”.  I thought Cree was going to choke each of us with his bare hands!

She is the lead in the spring play and totally jacked about playing t-ball this summer.

Willow, Lacey and I still volunteer in her classroom on a regular basis and provide entertainment for ever party.  Lacey wanted to slip a laxative into PJ’s snack on the field trip.  I convinced her it was inhumane or something like that.  PJ really is a little asshole.  Who knows what happened…the little shit was running to the bathroom all day on the field trip.

I was wondering if you ever made any coffee concoction at the shop using the magic sprinkles?

I was having a shitty morning at The Shop.  Cree called in the middle of it and I went mental on his ass.  Ten minutes later he strolled into the shop with sprinkles.  He locked the door and flipped the switch on the open sign.  I sat on the counter nursing my burnt hand and sore, chapped-ass nipples while he made me my favorite coffee.  I hate being back at work, but everyone insisted I should work a couple of hours a week.  Something happened when Captain started dancing and sprinkling my coffee with sprinkles.  Those sprinkles on the white, fluffy cream lit my lady bits on firaaahh!  I pounced on my husband like a dirty, slut ravaging every piece of him.  The mixture of the coffee, sprinkles and Cree ignited some pretty crazy shit.  Shit that would be considered illegal in most countries.  Sprinkles are now served daily with the Blended Heaven drink.

…….Now onto the juicy stuff (mwahaha)

Last completely adorable thing The Captain did?

We had to wait awhile to take our honeymoon.  I wasn’t ready to leave the farm and we had to make arrangements for Annie.  We were scheduled to be gone for seven days.  Seven days away from the farm and our family.  The first four days flew by and then I was ready to be back home.  Cree knew how much home meant to me, so he took me home without a complaint.

The first night of our honeymoon Cree surprised me with my bucket list thingy.  Captain had packed it in his luggage.  He made sure I checked EVERYTHING off of my bucket list thingy twice!  The man is perfect and fucking delicious in an elevator!

If you had to use only three words to describe the last time you guys did the deed, what would they be?

Embarrassing, hot and unforgettable.

The dumbass convinced me that the front windows of his truck were tinted.  We were out with the gang at the local bar and got pretty horny.  We snuck out to the truck.  Like I said, the dumbass convinced me the windows were tinted.  We went to ravaging each other.  Cree had me pinned down and was banging the shit out of me.  We heard hollering and cat calls.  Yep, we had an audience cheering us on.  The only face I spotted was Old Man Jenkins and he was cheering along with the crowd.

Pretty much…embarrassing, hot and unforgettable.

You guys still venture out on the tractor (wink, wink)?

As much as fucking possible.  There’s just something about green and yellow that heats up our relationship.  Cree makes sure to buy me a new skirt every trip to town.

One thing Cree would absolutely die with embarrassment over if it ever got out?  (…c’mon, it’s just between us, no one will ever know!)

Cree and I are the most competitive jack-wagons known to mankind.  Cree is an absolute football fanatic.  One night while watching a game we bet.  Cree put all his pennies on Denver and I bet on Dallas just to piss him off.  The loser had to run to the mailbox naked.  Remember, we have a very long lane.  I enjoyed watching Dallas whoop Denver.  I let Cree wear his water boots to take his run of shame.  Armed with the spotlight I didn’t miss a beat of my very sexy pirate jogging down the lane.  At one point, he was jogging backwards whipping his member around in circles.    This is where it gets funny!  Cree ran into his godmother in the middle of the night, naked and in our lane.  Donna (his mom’s best friend) had a flat tire and was making her way up to the farm for help.  Did I mention he ran into her at the mailbox at the end of the lane?  Being the gentlemen, Cree walked her back to the house trying to cover his junk the whole time.  I literally PMP’ed down both legs watching my naked husband walk back up the lane.  Donna promised not to tell a soul, and I was caught off for 2 days!  Best bet of my life.

Synopsis:

One superior smirk from Michael Endicott convinces sixteen-year-old Georgia Barrett that the Devil wears Polo. His family may have founded the postcard-perfect New England town they live in, but Georgia’s not impressed. Even if he is smart, good looking, and can return Georgia’s barbs as deftly as he returns serves on his family’s tennis courts. After all, if Michael actually thinks she refuses to participate in lab dissections just to mess with his grade, he’s a little too sure that he’s the center of the universe. Could there be more to Michael Endicott than smirks and sarcasm? If Georgia can cut the snark long enough, she just might find out.

Teaser:

I try to read and forget the major feats of hypocrisy I’ve witnessed in the last forty-eight hours, from tree-huggers eating meat to Michael blowing me off after winking at me to Alistair preaching against lust and leering at my sister’s ass. I also try to shrug off the ironic awareness that while Alistair Colwin is obviously a sexist dork, he is downstairs watching a morally unobjectionable movie with his girlfriend, while I am doing homework on a Friday night, reading Hamlet, in fact, just to ensure that the whole night is a laugh riot.

So which one of us is the dork, really?

I wonder what Michael is doing tonight that’s so much better than sitting in a dark movie theater with me and Tori and Trey. And where he gets off blowing me off and acting like he’s the most important and upright person at Longbourne High School when he’s only at LHS because he got kicked out of the Pemberley School for some reason. There’s much speculation about it, but maybe it’s no mystery after all; maybe he became so insufferable that even the snottiest prep school in New England bounced him out on his preppie little posterior.

Not that I think about Michael’s posterior, preppie or otherwise.

Or any other part of his anatomy.

Synopsis:

Seventeen-year-old Meg Flannigan thought she’d made up her mind about love. But with two guys still vying for her attention, she wonders if she made the right decision. Ash is everything she’s ever wanted in a boyfriend: loyal, loving, and totally hot. But then there’s Noah: fun, sexy, and the more he sticks around, the more Meg wants him there.

What’s a girl to do?

Make up her mind, before it’s too late. Gorgeous freshman Liz has set her sights on Ash, and Noah is beginning to remind Meg of her last boyfriend—the one who broke her heart. Can she figure things out before she ruins not one, but two relationships? Or is she doomed to serve up heartbreak?

Teaser:

I freeze. Noah’s lips are moving in slow motion toward me. He’s giving me the chance to say no.

“Noah.” That’s all I can manage.

He pulls away. My head leans back against the wall, and I close my eyes. What am I doing? How is he able to make me feel so confused? My emotions are a jumbled mess right now. I look at him, begging for answers. “Why didn’t you kiss me?” I’m not complaining. I’m glad he didn’t do it. I just want to know why he didn’t do it.

“I told you. I won’t do anything you don’t want me to. You wouldn’t have stopped me. I think you would’ve even kissed me back. But that’s not how I want to kiss you. I want you to want to kiss me.”

            What if I do?

Synopsis:

When Mabel’s best friend, Amber, drags her along on a double date she finds herself falling for Lance, the obnoxious class clown whom she swore she’d have no interest in. The only problem is, she’s not sure if she’s really the girl Lance is into, or if, like every other guy she knows, it’s really Amber he’s after. One thing is clear, if Mabel wants to be the lead in her own love story, she needs to start acting like it.

Teaser:

I try really hard not to stare at Mabel’s profile during the movie so she doesn’t think I’m a psycho, but it isn’t easy. I love the curves of her face, the slope of her forehead, the way her nose turns up, the pout of her bottom lip.

I’m all tense and my heart is pounding like crazy. I think hers is, too. Unfortunately, I don’t think it has anything to do with me.

She looks totally freaked out. She seemed nervous when the movie first started, but now her eyes are wide and she’s biting her bottom lip. Her teeth dig into it to the point where I’m afraid it might actually start to bleed.

Every time she jumps I flinch a little. All I want to do is put my arm around her and let her bury her head into my chest and close her eyes. But I think putting my arm around her out of the blue might freak her out more than the movie is. So I just sit here like a jackass and do nothing.

Maybie jumps again, her hand flinging up to cover her mouth. She has a great mouth, wide with dark pink lips. Her hand flies back down to her arm rest. She’s gripping it so tight her knuckles are turning white. I resist the urge to pry her hands off the seat and hold them. Instead I try to come up with another idea.

About the author:

Eve Devon_author photo_for Entangled useEve Devon writes sexy heroes, sassy heroines & happy ever afters…

Growing up in locations like Botswana and Venezuela gave Eve Devon a taste for adventure; her love for romances began when her mother shoved one into her hands in a desperate attempt to keep her quiet during TV coverage of the Wimbledon tennis finals!

When Eve wasn’t consuming books by the bucketload, she could be found pretending to be a damsel in distress or running around solving mysteries and writing down her adventures. As a teenager, Eve wrote countless episodes of TV detective dramas so the hero and heroine would end up together every week. As an adult, still hooked on romance and mysteries, she worked in a library to conveniently continue consuming books by the bucketload, until realizing she was destined to write contemporary romance and romantic suspense herself.
