A Standalone Contemporary Romance Novel

By: NY Times, USA Today, and #1 Wall Street Journal Best Selling Author, Penelope Ward

LOVE ONLINE LIVE NOW

Synopsis:

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy STANDALONE novel.

We met in the least likely of places. It started out innocently enough. I was “ScreenGod” and she was “Montana,” but of course, those weren’t our actual names, just the virtual cloaks we hid behind.

Logging in at night and talking to her was my escape—my sanctuary.

Her real name was Eden, I’d soon come to find out.

From the first time we connected online, I found myself transfixed.

She was an addiction.

At first, we knew nothing about each other’s real identities…and she was adamant that we keep things that way. Anonymity had no effect on our unstoppable chemistry, though. If anything, it allowed us to open up even more in ways we may not have otherwise.

Eden was funny, intelligent, gorgeous—everything I’d ever wanted in a woman.

But I couldn’t really have her.

I had accepted things would have to stay the way they were—until the day I found a clue that led me straight to her.

So I took a chance.

And that was when our love story really began.

My Review:

I always love picking up a new Penelope Ward book.  I know she’s going to deliver a love story with some sort of different twist to it and Love Online was just another great example of that.

Ryder and Eden meet in a less than conventional way to say the least.  But the connection they both feel is immediate and undeniable but sadly, because of how they met, that realize meeting in person will be most unlikely. Fortunately Ryder takes matters in to his own hands and makes a meeting possible. What happens after that face to face meeting is a relationship of great understanding, patience, emotion trust, and ultimately, love.  Their story also burns up the pages with sexy heat every chapter!

If you’re looking for a sexy and emotion packed read, this is a book for you! Thank you, Penelope for Ryder and Eden’s story!

Unexpected by Aleatha Romig…Blog Tour & Review

*Paul*

What will happen… when Jenn learns the truth that has been brewing deep inside me?
…when she learns my desires have been restrained?
…when containing them is no longer possible?
Will she flee when there’s no place to run?

Traveling to the isolation of a tropical island, we agree to lay our marriage and our future on the line. It’s the only way to face the demons—my demons—that threaten our life together.
For us to make our marriage work, we must break down barriers, reveal the hidden places, and shine light where darkness has taken root.
This reprieve from life is meant to be about us, our marriage, and our future.
It is…until the unexpected happens…

Will our marriage survive? Will we?

This suspenseful, steamy stand-alone novella follows Paul and Jenn Masters, characters previously introduced in the novella UNCONVENTIONAL. This quick, spicy story may be read completely on its own or even before UNCONVENTIONAL.
If you enjoy a fast and furious, heart-thundering ride that leaves you breathless and perhaps a bit hot and bothered, check out New York Times bestselling author Aleatha Romig’s THE VAULT novellas: UNCONVENTIONAL and UNEXPECTED.

I close my eyes and allow my body to simply react.

It’s been too long.

It seems as if recently I’ve overthought everything—every action…word…everything—between Paul and me. The process is exhausting, and I’m too tired to continue. I don’t know what will happen over the next ten days. All I know is that I want what’s in front of me.

Forget that.

I want what’s intoxicating me—my husband’s embrace, the spicy scent of his skin, the way his erection probes my tummy through our clothes, and the sweet sensation of his kiss.

Sex may not save our marriage, but damn, right now as our kiss deepens, I’m on fire. Like a field of grass that’s withstood a drought, the flames grow. Small explosions detonate throughout my body—tiny flares roaring to a blaze and blasting our world. Each is a reminder that there’s been only one man who has ever made me feel completely and utterly loved, worshipped, and satisfied.

The one man who is with me now.

A moan escapes my lips as Paul reaches for the hem of my sundress and lifts it over my head. Just as quickly, he tugs off his own shirt, and I’m surrounded by his strong arms. His wide chest smashes against my breasts, and our hearts work together, the presence of the other increasing their rhythm. The faint taste of the salt air lingers on my lips as I kiss his neck, chest, and torso.

Unexpected is exactly what you get with this novella. It is short, hot with an unexpected twist.

It is a standalone and a great insight into what Aleatha’s “darker side” of her writing entails. If you have never read anything by her, this would be the perfect opportunity to see what all the excitement is about with her books. And for those of you who already read her books, this is quick and sexy read to hold you over til her next novel releases.

I won’t give you any more information than what the blurb tells you because this is such a short novella. I will tell you that I love how they are trying to save their marriage and in doing so, are willing to air out all their secrets.

It may be a quick read, but it is packed with some hot and steamy scenes along with a twist to keep your held in suspense til the end.

This is how novellas should be written!!

The Perfect Duet by Meghan Quinn….Release Blitz & Review

The Left Side Of Perfect – Release Day – August 30

For better or for worse,’til death do us part . . .

The better captured me; she’s who stole my heart.

And made me realize I couldn’t live without this woman.

The worse of her took my breath away–kicked me when I was down and twisted me into a million knots.

When I first met her, I thought she was someone I would never see again.

The second time I ran into her, it was a random coincidence.

The third?

I didn’t know it at the time, but she was the girl I was going to marry.

But life isn’t always perfect. You have to take the better and the worse–even if it means giving her up, having her slip between your fingers, and letting her walk away.

I’m getting married.

This is forever, ’til death do us part.

The Right Side Of Forever – Release Day August 31

In sickness and in health, to love and to cherish . . .

It sounds so simple, to love someone unconditionally.

To give them your heart.

So why is she slowly eating away at my soul with every unanswered phone call, every unread text, and every door left unopened?

She said yes, and yet, in order for her to be with me . . . I need to let her go.

Meghan, Meghan, Meghan – what are you doing to my heart?!?!

If you have been following Meghan’s most recent writing adventures, then you know who this book is about. If you haven’t, then you need to jump on board and see what the excitement is all about.

The Left Side of Perfect is the perfect beginning for this duet. It’s the start of heartbreaking and emotional romance that will tear you apart and leave you breathless.

This book does end in a cliffhanger (one I had anticipated but still enjoyed) and continues on in the Right Side of Forever.

I have to say that Meghan definitely through me a few loops on where she takes this story. There are parts that I had not anticipated at first but eventually figured out on my own but was still gutted.

If you are like me, after you finish this one, you will immediately go right into book 2 and gobble that one right up.

Another amazing book from Meghan!

I devoured this duet in one sitting (I am so grateful to have both at the same time). They are both full novels and will have you pulled in immediately.

The Right Side of Forever continues on where The Left Side of Perfect ended so they must be read in order. This book went in a direction I had not expected but loved very much.

“You’re in for one epic ride. I hope you’re ready for it.”

This quote is directly from this book and could not be any more accurate.

But I love the journey that Meghan’s takes us on. There is no perfect journey to finding right one – your Right Side of Forever. Your heart will go through the ringer with this duet, but it so worth it in the end.

I know that my review for this book and it’s predecessor are very vague, but they need to be. Not because you will enjoy the story so much more but if you have not read the Blue Line duet (which I highly urge you to do), then the mystery who this duet is about will hurt the whole synopsis of the Blue Line duet.

Meghan has easily become one of my go-to authors in the last 3-4 years. I discovered her when she wrote her Love and Sports back in 2014 and have read every single book hers since then. Meghan is an author I have learned to respect and watch grow with every book. She has proven to us that she can make us laugh to our faces hurt from smiling so much and our stomachs ache from the continuous laughter. But she can also humble us with her heartfelt stories and grip our hearts with the most intoxicating love stories.

Meghan, you have once again blown me away with your characters, the story line and have me falling in love with love all over again.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Josh + Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren… ARC Review

From New York Times and #1 international bestselling author Christina Lauren comes a new romantic comedy about two friends who

are definitely, for sure, in no way dating…maybe

Josh + Hazel’s

Guide to Not Dating

by CHRISTINA LAUREN

ON SALE SEPTEMBER 4, 2018

Synopsis:

Most men can’t handle Hazel. With the energy of a toddler and the mouth of a sailor, they’re often too timid to recognize her heart of gold. JOSH AND HAZEL’S GUIDE TO NOT DATING tells the story of two people who are definitely not dating, no matter how often they end up in bed together.

Hazel Camille Bradford knows she’s a lot to take—and frankly, most men aren’t up to the challenge. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd don’t send them running, her lack of filter means she’ll say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment. Their loss. She’s a good soul in search of honest fun.

Josh Im has known Hazel since college, where her zany playfulness proved completely incompatible with his mellow restraint. From the first night they met—when she gracelessly threw up on his shoes—to when she sent him an unintelligible email while in a post-surgical haze, Josh has always thought of Hazel more as a spectacle than a peer. But now, ten years later, after a cheating girlfriend has turned his life upside down, going out with Hazel is a breath of fresh air.

Not that Josh and Hazel date. At least, not each other. Because setting each other up on progressively terrible double blind dates means there’s nothing between them…right?

.

My Review:

Josh + Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating is the newest work from the dynamic writing duo known as Christina Lauren – and if I’m making it seem like they’re some kind of literary super heroes, well, yeah, they are. They are more powerful than a locomotive, able leap genres in a single bound, rescue jaded readers…ok, ok, you get the idea 😉

I’m always looking forward to a new book from Christina and Lauren, and Josh and Hazel lived up to every expectation I had after reading the synopsis.  It was fun. It was flirty.  It had emotion and was filled with a cast of characters who were endearing all in their own ways.

Hazel is this ball of quirky, always outside the box, never stuck in the norm fun. She’s cute and sassy and had me wanted to be her BFF from the very first chapter.  She’s also not had very good luck in finding a guy who will appreciate all the color and vibrancy she is, and it broke my heart for her.

Josh is exactly her opposite in almost every way.  He’s calm and controlled.  Loves things organized and steady.  He’s also got a heart of gold and is steadfast and loyal to his family and friends. He’s a great catch and is 100% thee type of guy you’d want to marry.

After being reunited by a stroke of fate, they spend more and more time together.  Just not necessarily in the way you’d think. They end up trying to set one another up with blind dates and turn those dates into double dates.  The mishaps and hilarity that ensues is priceless…and it also draws both Hazel and Josh into realizing maybe they don’t need the blind dates.  Maybe the person they’re supposed to be with is right in front of them.  Sure, they’re opposites in almost every facet of their personalities, but you know how the saying goes…opposites attract.  And that, right there, is why I loved these two so darn much.

I won’t go into too much more detail because I don’t want to spoil anything for you but I will say that you can always count on some of the best happily ever afters out there from Christina and Lauren and you won’t be disappointed 😀

Whether you’ve been with these authors from their Beautiful Series or this is the first of their work you pick up, I know you’ll love Josh and Hazel as much as I did.

And, before I leave you, in keeping this weird tradition where a song pops in my head while reading a Christina Lauren book, here’s the one that is all Josh and Hazel…

Excerpt:

I close the door behind me, intending to return to the bedroom. Instead, I go outside. I pour another glass from the second bottle Jamie and I opened, then settle onto the chaise lounge and look up, letting myself get lost in the stars that blanket the moonless sky.

I don’t hear him, but I know when Damien steps onto the patio. The scent of him. The subtle shift in the air, as if Damien Stark truly is the force of nature I sometimes believe him to be. Mostly, though, I am simply attuned to him, and he to me. Of course, I know he’s there. Just as I knew that he would come.

I turn my head and let myself breathe him in, this man the gods must have made just for me. He’s strong and powerful and walks with confidence. His strides are long and straight, and his goal is clear—me.

When he reaches my chaise, he sits on the edge of it near my hip, then takes my hand in his. I’m still wearing the bathing suit I put on to lounge with Jamie, covered by a simple, lacey pull-over. It eased up when I sat, and now Damien’s slacks brush the bare skin of my thigh, making me hyperaware of our connection.

Damien lifts our joined hands, then kisses my knuckles. “Do you want to tell me what’s wrong?”

My eyes dart to his, and I see both apology and humor reflected on his face. “I think that’s my line,” I say.

Slowly, he slips his hand beneath the lace of my cover-up so that his palm presses against the bare flesh of my lower abdomen, just above my bikini line. The touch is casual, little more than a place to rest his hand, and yet the contact sends sparks shooting down through my core, making my inner thighs tingle and my sex burn hot and needy.

I look up at Cam and meet his eyes, brimming with secrets. I need answers, and I need them now.

No more secrets, Cam.

“What’s going on?”

The man in my arms doesn’t answer with his words. Instead, he takes hold of the edge of my towel and pulls it from my body. I gasp at the sensation of our skin pressing intimately together. I brace myself against his chiseled arms, digging my fingers into his biceps for purchase.

He isn’t done. He lifts his hands, one to my hip, one to my cheek. His thumb draws a small circle on my exposed hip bone. With the side of his knuckle, he traces the outline of my lower lip. I stay very, very still so he won’t notice the slight shudder racing down my spine.

“I can’t tell you,” he says so softly that it breaks my heart.

“Yes, you can.” I barely recognize my own voice. Cam’s eyes, dark and hurting, are locked on my lips. I want to ease that pain.

And I think I know how.

I lean in closer, pulling myself up to his level with my hands on his chest. Our breaths mingle and everything is warm, the air between us aflame.

“You’re killing me.” These are the words that fall from Cam’s lips before they meet mine.

God.

My lips are locked against his in the softest of kisses. I catch his lower lip with my own, pressing every ounce of my feelings into him. Every thank you for being there for me. Every you’re perfect for being exactly what I need.

Can he feel how much I care for him?

He’s still for a whole Mississippi second—a second too long for me to bear.

Oh God. What have I done?

But the moment I pull away, Cam leans in. His hands are on my face, holding my lips against his. He tilts my head, digs his fingers into my hair, and opens his mouth to mine.

“Natalie . . .”

The sound of my name slipping so lustfully from the back of his throat sends a jolt all the way down. All the way down.

I pull myself even higher on my toes, clinging to him with my arms around his neck. He returns the favor, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me tight against him. Our mouths are magnetic, unable to separate, unwilling to stop.

My God. I’m kissing Cam.

I’m kissing my best friend.

I’m kissing him and I can’t stop.

I dart my tongue between his lips, caressing the underside of his upper lip. He growls, maddened by my bold move. His fingers blaze fiery trails down my neck and shoulders. His hands explore me, memorizing the slope of my back and the curve of my hips. Each touch is so soft, yet so electric.

Soon it’s all frantic kisses and eager moans that I’m pretty sure are coming from me. I press into his shoulders, leaving handprints on his chest. My fingers draw lines down his abdomen, then finally trace along the bulge beneath his towel.

Cam jerks back, his eyes full of questions.

But there’s no more time for questions. We’ve wasted far too much of it.

The Wildes of Lindow Castle series by Eloisa James…Review

.

Series Synopsis:

.
The Wildes of Lindow Castle follows the large, eccentric family of the Duke of Lindow, who live in a castle on the edge of a sprawling bog. You might think of the series as a cross between Modern Family and Downton Abbey. It’s set in the Georgian period, when people wore big wigs and bigger skirts. England at this time saw the first real true blossoming of celebrity culture, driven largely by the printing press. Etchings of the Wildes travel throughout England on tinkers’ carts, and are collected by everyone from dairymaids to duchesses.
.

My Review:

.
Eloisa James’s latest historical series, The Wildes of Lindow Castle, is absolutely her best work to date. It’s swept readers by storm and become a huge hit in its first three installments—Wilde in Love, Too Wilde to Wed, and Born to Be Wilde. Thankfully, the Wilde clan is a large one and, lucky for us, there are more and more stories to come!
.
Each novel so far is rich is historical detail, such as the adventurer hero Alaric in Wilde in Love, almost the modern-day equivalent of a comic book superhero; the very real repercussions of the effects of war on Too Wilde to Wed’s hero, North (maybe the hottest, most selfless one of all); and the all-too-sobering laudanam addiction of heroine Lavinia’s mother in Born to Be Wilde. There’s the mystery of a mad villain, a celebrity hero, a mixed-race hero, a bookish heroine, a runaway bride turned governness and an heiress turned empowered businesswoman, castles, and an actual deadly bog, whoa. Plus an offspring of siblings all named after ancient mythical and real heroes. There’s reunited lovers and enemies-to-lovers, and this series is sizzling hot, my favorite quality of an historical romance!
.
It’s impossible to pick a favorite, as each story is so uniquely and richly drawn, and Wilde in Love sets a brilliant stage with a beloved cast of characters. But both Too Wilde to Wed and Born to Be Wilde in particular find the series’ stride and are one wild ride from start to finish. In Too Wilde to Wed, when North’s heroine, Diana, virtually leaves him at the altar—and he later finds her in the role of governness at his family estate, with a young child in her care—he doesn’t really know what to think. What he does know is that for both of them, their reputations are in tatters, and it seems the only way to repair it—and what North has really wanted all along—is for them to wade the waters together, and he’s fiercely determined to win her back. Their story is emotional and heart-wrenching and comes full circle in the way a proper love story should.
.
When it comes to Lavinia and Parth in Born to Be Wilde, not only do they hate each other—with the antagonism building to a delicious fever pitch by their book—but thrown together relentlessly, Parth finds himself in the hilarious role of matchmaker when heiress Lavinia’s fortune is in pieces and time is running out to make an advantageous marriage, as one does, though his feelings are really more of the “if I can’t have her, no one can” variety. But it’s a not-so-slow descent into head-over-heels for them both, and fortunately, after all this time, neither of them are putting on too many airs.
.
A truly great historical, not to mention a whole series, is the best kind of find. And I will follow this one to the very end, which is hopefully many books away. With all the most loved tropes, perfect pairings, crazy family, and all of the exceptional details and real tragedies of life, The Wildes of Lindow Castle is at the top of the historical game.
.

Excerpt:

I keep track of the sleepless nights in the notched lines beneath my eyes, like the annual rings of a tree. One wrinkle for each night that I don’t sleep.  I stare at myself in the mirror each day, counting them all. This morning there were four. The surface effects of insomnia are even worse than what’s going on on the inside.  My eyes are red and swollen. My eyelids droop. Overnight, wrinkles appear by the masses, while I lay in bed counting sheep. I could go to the clinic and request something else to help me sleep.  Some more of the clonazepam. But with the pills in my system, I slept right on through Mom’s death. I don’t want to think about what else I’d miss.

At McDonalds, I’m asked if I want ketchup with my fries, but I can only stare at the worker dumbly because what I heard was, It’s messed up when boats capsize, and I nod lamely because it is disastrous and sad, and yet so out of left field I can’t respond with words.

It’s only when he drops a stack of ketchup packets on my tray that my brain makes the translation, too late it seems because I hate ketchup.  I dump them on the table when I go, the mother lode for someone who likes it. On the way out the door I trip, because coordination is also effected by a lack of sleep.

Two hours ago I dragged my heavy body from bed after another sleepless night, and now I stand in the center of Mom and my house, deciding which of our belongings to take and which to leave.  I can’t stand to stay here much longer, a decision I’ve come to quickly over the last four days. I’ve spoken to a realtor already, figured out next steps. First I’m to pack up what I want to keep, and then everything else will be sold in an estate sale before some junk removal service tosses the rest of our stuff in the trash.

Then some other family will move into the only home I’ve ever known.

I’m eyeing the sofa, wondering if I should take it or leave it, when the phone rings.  “Hello?” I ask.

A voice on the other end informs me that she’s calling from the financial aid office at the college.  “There’s a problem with your application,” she says to me.

“What problem?” I ask the woman on the phone, afraid I’m about to be cited for tax evasion.  It’s a likely possibility; I’d left blank every question on the FAFSA form than asked about adjusted gross income and tax returns.  I might have lied on the application too. There was a question that asked if both of my parents were deceased. I said yes to that, though I don’t know if it’s true.

Is my father dead?

On the other end of the line, the woman asks me to verify my social security number for her and I do.  “That’s what I have,” she says, and I ask, “Then what’s the problem? Has my application been denied?” My heart sinks.  How can that be? It’s only a community college. It’s not like I registered for Yale or Harvard.

“I’m sure it’s just a weird mix-up with vital statistics,” she says.

“What mix-up?” I ask, feeling relieved for a mix-up as opposed to a denied application.  A mix-up can be fixed.

“It’s the strangest thing,” she says.  “There was a death certificate on file for a Jessica Sloane, from seventeen years ago.  With your birthdate and your social security number. By the looks of this, Ms. Sloane,” she says, and I amend Jessie, because Ms. Sloane is Mom.  “By the looks of this, Jessie,” she says, and the words that follow punch me so hard in the gut they make it almost impossible to breathe.  “By the looks of this, you’re already dead.”

And then she laughs as if somehow or other this is funny.

*

Today I’m looking for a new place to live.  Staying in our old home is no longer a viable option because of the residual ghosts of Mom that remain in every corner of the home.  The smell of her Crabtree & Evelyn hand cream that fills the bathroom. The feel of the velvet lined compartments in the mahogany dresser.  The chemo caps. The cartons of Ensure on the refrigerator shelf.

I perch in the back seat of a Kia Soul, trying hard not to think too much about the call from the financial aid office.  This is easier said than done. Just thinking about it makes my stomach hurt. A mix-up, the woman claimed, but still, it’s hard to grapple with the words you and dead in the same sentence.  Though I try to, I can’t push them from my mind.  The way she and I left things, I’m to provide a copy of my social security card to the college before they’ll take another look at my application for a loan, which is a problem because I don’t have the first clue where the card is.  But it’s more than that too. Because the woman also told me about some death index my name was found on. A death index.  My name on a database maintained by the Social Security Administration of millions of people who have died, nullifying their social security numbers so that no one else can use them, so that I can’t use my own social security number.  Because, according to the Social Security Administration, I’m dead.

Cover Reveal…The Tenth Girl by Carrie Aarons

Title: The Tenth Girl
Author: Carrie Aarons
Genre: New Adult/Young Adult
Cover Design: Sarah Hansen, Okay Creations
Release Date: September 9, 2018
Blurb
Never play a game
you can’t win.
For Cain Kent, that rule is golden. Losing is not in his vocabulary, and up until
now, everything has come easy. Football, school, girls … his charm-laced ego
may just be bigger than Texas itself.

The competition he started freshman year with his friends, to make ten notches
each in their bedposts by graduation day, is practically in the bag. One more
to go, and then it’s off to college fame and eventually, the big time.
Attachments aren’t something he wants to form, but when the quiet new girl
challenges him in front of his classmates, his curiosity is peaked. She would
be the perfect final score, and what fun to break her in the process.

Too bad Harper Posy has no intention of being just another warm body,
especially to the bad boy quarterback. Even if he does quote Forster and Huxley
when no one is listening. An aspiring author herself, Cain and his hidden soft
side are dangerous to her heart. She’s seen men ruin her mother’s dreams time
and again, and she’s determined to fly far away as soon as she has that diploma
in her fist.

But as the school year’s end looms closer, both realize they didn’t quite
understand the rules to begin with. Is winning a dirty bet worth the gamble
when the stakes, or the other’s heart in this case, are so high?

Harper is the one girl who isn’t up for playing games. And she just might make
Cain lose. Everything.
