 REVIEW

Made For Us is a very good example of why I love reading contemporary romance.  It just gives you that breath of fresh air and those feel good feelings.

Aidan is the eldest of six siblings and took on the role of “second father” when his mother passed away in hid teen years.  He’s always been around and done whatever he could to help his father out.  Like all the Shaugnessy men, he likes to maintain control of just about everything surrounding them and doesn’t take well to change.

Zoe is a designer who moves away to the beach to start over after her mother passed away only few short months ago.  She gets assigned to Aidan’s construction job and sparks flying – but not in a good way.  Zoe is a very strong and stubborn woman who will not back down and easily give into Aidan and his demanding ways.

I love how you can sense the tension between these two when they are working together.  I enjoy reading how they both struggled with their feelings and second guessed the other’s actions.  I absolutely love how Zoe dished out her own against Aidan and really pushed his buttons.

The Shaughnessy family is amazing. Five hot and extremely talented men, spitfire sister with a very stronger father that does everything he can for his kids.  I loved this family so much – I am hoping we get to know more about each family member in their own book.

Back to the book.  Samantha writes this story beautifully.  I enjoy that we got to see everything from both Aidan and Zoe’s POV. However, I do think some will be a tad confused with the switches between characters in the midst of a scene.  But it’s pretty easy to decipher the changes.  I thought the book moved along at a perfect pace and had just the right amount of angst added in.

I am hoping to be reading more about the Shaughnessy family!

Top 3 Most Romantic Scenes from Made For Us by Samantha Chase

Hey, Everyone!  I’m Samantha Chase and it is a pleasure to be here talking about my new contemporary romance, Made for Us, – book one in my new family series, The Shaughnessy Brothers.  And I have to tell you, this family series is one that I know you are going to fall in love with as much as I have.

There are six siblings and at the point that you’re going to be meeting them, seventeen years has gone by since they lost their mother, and we see how this affects who they currently are. Each book will not only introduce you to an individual Shaughnessy as they navigate through their life and eventually find love, you get to spend a lot of time getting to know the rest of the family, as well.

Who doesn’t love a good romance, right?  That’s why we’re here!  And when there’s a romantic scene?  Well, then it’s even better!  Made for Us has its share of romantic scenes but I don’t want to give them all away – you’ll have to read the book to really get all the good stuff – but if I had to give you an overview of the three that I think are the most romantic, it would be these:

The first would be early on in the book.  Aidan and Zoe go out to dinner – completely unplanned and not a date – and afterwards, Aidan drives her home and they walk on the beach for a bit and then sit in the sand and talk.  It’s just one of those moments where they’re both a little vulnerable and getting to know each other and yet they’re both already admitting to themselves (internally) that there’s an attraction.  I love that feeling – when a relationship is new and sometimes it’s the littlest things that feel romantic.

Next would be much later in the story.  They’ve had an argument and haven’t spoken in several days.  They fight again and then Zoe brings Aidan back to his place – he’s exhausted and has been working non-stop for days and too tired to drive.  Zoe’s barely speaking to him and he’s a little belligerent himself.  She’s determined to stay and make sure he’s all right but he asks her to stay because it’s what she wants.  He shows his vulnerability and I love it!

Finally I would have to say that their time trapped together during the storm had several romantic elements.  They had fun and bantered and there were times when they were wild and frantic with one another – all in the name of the new turn in their relationship.  But at one point, Aidan stands back and watches her doing stuff around the apartment – nothing out of the ordinary and nothing that would be considered sexy – and yet he’s overcome with a need to actually take his time and love her.  He’s in awe of her beauty, her strength and just all that she is and it becomes more than just sex – it’s about her and how he feels about her.

And honestly, the MOST romantic scene is at the end of the book but I’m not sharing it!  That one you’ll definitely have to read for yourselves!

Author Biography

New York Times and USA Today Bestseller/contemporary romance writer Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan’s Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her 40’s to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.

When she’s not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.

Flame by Erin Noelle….Release Day

I’m soaring.
After years of hard work and determination, I am exactly where I want to be in life. As the top ranked Freestyle Motocross rider in the world, I have more money than I could ever dream of spending and gorgeous women throwing themselves at me in every city I land. I have everything I could ever want.
Everything except her.
While in Breckenridge for my best friend’s wedding, I was introduced to Dakota Shavell, a friend of the bride-to-be, and from the moment our blue gazes met, sparks flew.
What I initially intended to be a single steamy night together turned into a scorching two week road trip to New Orleans with a sassy-mouthed blonde. Being between her legs gave me a bigger adrenaline rush than I’d ever gotten from flying through the air while straddling a bike.
It was supposed to just be fun, a good time. I planned to walk away unchanged.
But it was more. Feelings I never intended to have got involved, and I’ll never be the same.
Yet, I still walked away.
Except now I’m injured and my outlook has changed. Priorities have become clear.
And I’m going back to reclaim her…to show her that together we can make the fire between us burst into flames.

EXCERPT

El Pinto Mexican food restaurant is the fucking bomb. A combination of gorgeous, sprawling hacienda-style ambiance, delicious authentic New Mexico cuisine, mouth-watering pitchers of house fresh margaritas, and a fun-loving, exuberant group of people sitting with me around a patio table. My cheeks hurt from the permanent smile that’s been stamped across my face since the moment we stepped under the vine-covered arch and through the glass double doors. After several big O’s on the trek down here, and then this phenomenal meal, I’d have to say my impromptu summer road trip has started out a tremendous success.

“So you seriously know nothing about motocross or dirt bikes? You’ve never seen anything on TV like X-Games? Red Bull X-Fighters? Metal Mulisha? You don’t have any brothers into this stuff?” Gunner gawks at me in utter disbelief while the four of us finish our last drinks at the restaurant before heading back to Sandia Motocross Park, where the bus is parked.

Tapping my chin, I pretend to think for a moment then shake my head. “I mean I’m familiar with what the X-Games are. I do live in Colorado, the winter action sports mecca, but I don’t know anything specifically about motocross other than you ride a motorcycle on a dirt track stupidly fast and do crazy-ass stunts while flying through the air.”

Emilia bursts out laughing at my oversimplified explanation of what her husband and Levi do for a living, but the two guys are still in shock at my revelation. It’s like they’ve never met anyone else who isn’t up to date on all their lingo and shit. I should’ve never asked why people made that braaappp noise at the wedding…

“Oh, and I do have one brother,” I add, “but he’s eight and likes to snowboard in the winter and fish in the summer. If any of my sisters were into dirt bikes, it’d be Juno. She’s the athletic one—but softball and volleyball are more her thing.”

Another peculiar look from Gunner. “How many sisters do you have?”

“Five. There are seven of us total. All from the same parents, who yes, are still married.” I answer the questions I know are coming before he even asks. Everyone is always intrigued by the size of my family, especially in this day and age. “My family is a little…unconventional.”

“A little?” Emilia scoffs. “You call your parents by their first names, and you grew up on a weed farm! You’ve got the coolest fucking family ever. Plus, you all look like Barbie dolls! When I used to dream about running away from home, I either wanted to be a trapeze artist in the circus or a Shavell sister.”

Snickering, I wrap my lips around my straw and suck in the chilled, tangy strawberry margarita. “Either way, you would’ve been joining a circus. There’s never a dull moment in a house with ten people in it.”

“Sunshine,” Levi leans over to me, resting his hand on the inside of my thigh, right below the frayed hem of my shorts, “I promise I want to learn all about your family. They sound cool as fuck—especially the part about the weed farm—but can we get back to where you said motocross is driving fast and doing stupid, crazy-ass stunts while flying through the air? ’Cause if you’re gonna be my girl on this trip, we need to give you a crash course tonight in all things motocross, so you can truly appreciate my awesomeness when you see me in action.”

I blink hard. His girl? Did he already dip his grubby hand into Grams’ special cookies?

“Hulk,” I lift my hand up to cradle his chin, bringing my face close to his, “I’ve already appreciated your awesomeness in action earlier today, and it had nothing to do with dirt bikes. So unless you want to show me how you can eat dessert on one, I’ll pass on the crash course and embrace my lingo ignorance.”

His eyes grow wide at my suggestion, and suddenly, the space between my mouth and his is gone, obliterated by a searing, possessive kiss. My lips part on a quick inhale of surprise, and he takes full advantage of my momentary vulnerability, sliding his tongue into my mouth to tangle with mine.

Everyone and everything around us fades away while his hypnotic lips move over mine. The world could come crashing down all around us right now, and the only thing I’d be concerned about is how to prolong the mind-boggling way he makes me feel each time he kisses me. It’s like the first time every time. Pounding heart. Trembling hands. Fluttering belly. Sizzling core.

DAVES_SURFACE - Flame Teaser #3

Review

YES! YES! YES!

I really, really enjoyed reading Flame!!  The story line, the characters, the camaraderie- all of it was absolutely fantastic!

Dakota is home on break from school when she unexpectedly goes on a trip with friends.  Levi, Gunner and Emmy Sue are already the best friends and having Dakota along for the ride, just adds more spice to the group.  The four of them become close while on this trip for the boys bike races.  It’s when things come to an end, that the sparks they’ve been avoiding come to life. But will but their dreams become the one thing that holds them both back?

“To truly love someone is the ultimate sacrifice.”

I absolutely love all the banter and silly antics of these characters.  It really added to plot and made the whole story more real.  Dakota is my kind of girl – smart mouth, holds her own and doesn’t get all pissy when things are thrown back at her.  She is very free spirited and enjoys life – her family is a hoot!  Levi – Yea, I want him.  He’s ALL man and then some.  Grams – I love her.  We all need a Grams in our lives!  And Rory – he’s the best friend we all want.

Flame absolutely rocked!!  Erin does a great job of bringing all the dynamics in this book together so well and making it a great read!  I am looking forward to reading more from Erin and this series!

Oh – side note – Erin – I love that you added in the game of cornhole! And for those of you who are unaware of this game; one, I am sorry you don’t and two, look it up and them get some friends together and play!

SPARK Book 1 in the Fire on the Mountain Series:

I’m failing.

My younger brother is getting worse, and my job – my duty – is to help him at all costs. We’ve tried everything modern medicine has to offer and nothing works.

Nothing.

Deciding to turn to unconventional treatments, we end up at Fire-on-the-Mountain, a holistic resort deep in the Rockies.

In our search for medical marijuana, I find beautiful, free-spirited Hudson Shavell – a girl who may not only hold the key to heal my brother, but to fix me as well. Even though I can’t afford distractions right now, she’s all I can think about. All that I want.

It’s funny how everything can change with one little SPARK.

EXCERPT

Slipping through the crowd, I luck out and find a bar in a dimly lit corner with no wait. I don’t have any money to tip the guy, seeing as though I was just standing in a wedding and my purse is upstairs in the hotel room I’m sharing with Meghan. I hope he recognizes and understands what the dress means as I make a mental note to escape and grab a twenty a little later.

“Good evening, madam. What can I get for you to drink? Wine, champagne, or perhaps something stronger?” The bartender greets me with a charming smile, his wandering gaze dropping down to my cleavage before returning to mine.

“The lady will have a glass of your finest Scotch whisky; Macallan’s if you have it. Two ice cubes. A water for me.” Before I get a chance to respond, a familiar, deep male voice answers for me, seconds before the heat from him penetrates my dress. He’s right behind me, not quite touching, but if I rocked back on my heels, we’d be pressed tight.

The bartender glances up at him over my shoulder, then back down at me, cocking his head to ask my approval. I roll my eyes at the ego of the one behind me, but the bartender only chuckles and pours me the glass, knowing I’m going to accept it. Pretentious asshole!

“You don’t strike me as a girl who fucks around with that frou-frou shit,” he rasps against the back of my neck, blanketing the exposed skin in goose bumps. He snickers at my physical reaction to his closeness, and I hate my traitorous body for a minute. Stupid nervous system.

I inhale a deep breath, which is supposed to clear my head before I speak, but instead, it’s saturated with him. And God, him smells spectacular. The perfect mixture of new rain and leather. Clean, yet rugged. Soft, but rough. All fucking man.

Shit, I’m in trouble.

“Thanks for buying me a drink at an open bar. I love a guy who goes the extra mile, sparing no expense,” I test him, curious to how this conversation is going to go.

Closing the small gap between us, he inches forward until the vibration of his low laughter resonates inside my ribcage. I grab on to the bar top, steadying my wobbly legs. The sexual portion of my brain fires into high gear as my near future, without clothes and filled with a best man, seems inevitable.

“Still got the attitude, Sunshine,” he growls, his lips faintly brushing against the shell of my ear with each word. Wrapping his arm around the front of me, he splays his gigantic hand across my lower midsection, his thumb resting over my belly button and his pinky dangerously close to my sweet spot. He presses against me in a way that makes my back bow and my ass pop against his zipper. “I fuckin’ dig that shit.”

My inner thighs clench together as the flood of desire surges to my pussy like hot fucking lava. He’s setting me on fire, and we haven’t even kissed. I’m not sure how to feel about my body’s overpowering response to him, but in typical Dakota-style, I’m not stopping it until I ride out the pleasure wave. This could be mind-blowing. Life-changing, perhaps.

“Yeah, Hulk, I know,” I manage to say, holding my gaze forward toward the bartender, who’s doing a poor job of hiding that he’s watching the exchange between me and Levi. “You told me during the ceremony.”

“I didn’t say a word during the ceremony,” he argues, stepping away from me as he drops money in the tip jar and grabs our drinks. I follow him over to one of the patio tables and sit across from him.

After a long, steady drink of the chilled drink, I rest back in the chair and stare directly into his animated eyes, keeping my face neutral as I church my fingers in my lap. “You did. You told me you wanted to see what I was wearing under this dress, and when I laughed at your ridiculous too-small tux, you threatened to punish me.”

He bends forward toward me, takes a long pull from the bottle of water, and lowers his voice. “And you told me you weren’t afraid of me, so why are you pulling back now?”

I’m unable to back down from a challenge, never have been, ever since I can remember as a kid with my sisters. They could dare me to do anything and I would. I love the thrill. The adrenaline. It’s almost as good as an orgasm.

His eyes twinkle with this knowledge as I lean forward to meet him nose-to-nose, less than an inch between our mouths. “You’re the one who should be scared, James Levi,” I whisper, a smirk creeping up my face. “I can be very addicting.”

Then, I tilt forward just enough to feather my lips across his before standing up with my drink. “Thanks for the drink, Hulk.” I wink, lifting the glass in the air. “I’ll see you inside.”

Lawyer Up by Kate Allure…. Blitz and Giveaway

LawyerUp

Bachelors of Lawyer Up

Kate Allure’s deliciously sexy LAWYER UP is an erotic anthology featuring three stories, each with a drop dead gorgeous hero. Get to know Hawk, Jon, and Emmit (aka the “Playboy Judge of Orleans”) as each of these heroes answer some personal questions below. You are guaranteed to find your next book boyfriend…or three!

Hero from OF “UNSOUND MIND AND BODY”

Full name: Franklin Lucky Hawk Ross, Jr.

Nickname: Hawk

Occupation: Successful lawyer in a big city law firm in Omaha, NE

Height: Tall…dark and handsome

Hair color: Jet-black

Eye color: Dark brown, almost black

Age: Late thirty-something

Originally from: The slowly dying town of Willow Pond, Nebraska

Describe yourself in 100 words or less:

I’m Omaha Indian and proud of my ancestry after having spent summers on the reservation with my mother. While I grew up in a tiny town, I love the energy of big cities. I work extremely hard and often travel internationally, but when I’m alone with a woman, then I’m totally focused on her…and some of that focus can take on a decidedly kinky flair. It’s not that I don’t like romance—you know, the hearts and flowers stuff—but the raw energy of two people exploring each other’s bodies and pushing the limits stirs that wild native blood in me.

What is the hardest part of your job? What is the most rewarding?

The hardest thing about being a lawyer is when I don’t win and let down my client. That doesn’t happen often but in those rare times it does, it rips me up inside. I hate it. As for rewarding, I’ve enjoyed handling the few remaining elderly clients from my father’s small town practice now that he’s retired…that’s very personal work, directly helping people. But, I truly come alive when I’m winning a major case…the Omaha in me loves a good battle and the strategy of “counting coups” on an unsuspecting opponent, which in modern times is less an act of bravery as it is displaying cunning against a foe.

When not working, how do you spend your time?

I pretty much work all the time, between winding down my father’s Willow Pond practice and the big city lawsuits that take me around the country or beyond. I think if I had someone in my life, I would find a way to slow down a bit…No I know that I’d make time, so that I could enjoy the companionship of a special woman.

If money was no object and you had 3 weeks of vacation what would you do with your time?

I’m single and successful, so money really isn’t an issue for me, although my time is limited. But if I had the time, I would love to whisk a lover away to a private tropical island for long session of playing Tarzan and Jane. I just need to find the right person.

***

Hero from “ATTORNEY-CLIENT PRIVILGES”

Full Name: Jon Bateman

Occupation: Hot-shot L.A. lawyer in a major firm

Height: Medium height and build

Hair color: An unruly mop of sun-bleached sandy hair, sort of California surfer-dude

Eye color: Deep green

Age: 35

Originally from: Nowhere special, but he calls L.A. home

Describe yourself in 100 words or less:

I feel like I’m on the Bachelorette, but here goes…I’m driven to succeed, which has made me the top performer in my firm. I don’t like being bothered with minutia, such as taking on useless pro bono work just because of a firm policy that we contribute back to the community. Some say it’s because I’m wounded after my cheating wife’s betrayal, but, if anything, all the free time that I have now has made me more successful. I give one hundred and ten percent to my career. Who needs a woman? Well except for that one thing, of course.

What is the hardest part of your job? What is the most rewarding?

None of it’s that hard, if my boss will just ease up on the pro bono thing. As for rewarding, did I mention I had the most billable hours of my entire firm last year…by a wide margin. I do high-end, high profile criminal cases mostly, and when they’re actually innocent it is the most rewarding. But whether they’re innocent or not, my role in the U.S. legal system is to do my best to get them acquitted—and my best is quite good based on my record of wins.

When not working, how do you spend your time?

Umm. I work a lot, even the weekends. I used to like to surf. Maybe I should take that up again. Oh, and I enjoy a good book now and then.

If money was no object and you had 3 weeks of vacation what would you do with your time?

My ex-wife got half of my assets, so money is an object, although I do have way more than 3 weeks of vacation stored up. In the spirit of make-believe…if my bank account was overflowing I would… Hmm, not sure what I’d do. I guess going to Hawaii and trying my hand at surfing would be nice, although it would be far better if I had someone to do it with.

Hero from “OF WRITS AND WITHING”

Full Name: Judge Emmit Stockard

Nickname: Playboy Judge of Orleans

Occupation: Chief Judge in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court

Height: 6 feet

Hair color: Salt and Pepper, lusciously thick and slightly curled

Eye color: Chocolaty-brown

Age: mid-50’s

Personality: Radiates a bad-boy masculinity, think Richard Gere in his fifties

Originally from: born in Massachusetts but family moved to NoLa when he was a child

Describe yourself in 100 words or less:

I like to think I’m a fair and honest judge, at least I strive to be. Sometimes, however, I can’t help teasing the attorneys performing in my court, especially the lady lawyers, which might have contributed to my playboy reputation. But inside I’m not like that. I’m not saying I don’t have a wicked streak when it comes to women and sex, but now that my very-public divorce is a thing of the past, I’m ready to find someone to share my life with, a woman that can handle the bad-boy in me. So, where are you, I wonder?

What is the hardest part of your job? What is the most rewarding?

As a judge I must follow the law at all times and, sometimes that forces me to rule against people who truly need help. It’s really the only part of my profession that I dislike. So the most rewarding aspect is the opposite—making things right for people that have been hurt by some injustice. Then there are the perks of being chief judge—I love the perks. Top among those is wielding power in and out of the court…well out of court I’m mostly talking about power in the bedroom…if you get my drift.

When not working, how do you spend your time?

Back to the perks. I get invited to a lot of parties and events because of my position. I used to love going to them with a different beautiful woman on my arm every night, but now I find it all just tiring. It will feel different, I think, when it’s someone that I admire, someone I’m proud to have on my arm for more than her good looks. And, I’ll enjoy introducing her to my favorite hobby—racing my motorcycle down rural roads that twist and turn. And food, I’m a bit of a foodies and love NoLa’s best restaurants.

If money was no object and you had 3 weeks of vacation what would you do with your time?

I’d head out on my motorcycle and just see where it takes me. Explore every hidden byway in the great state of Louisiana and then maybe head west for a bit. It’s on my bucket list but I’ve been holding out until I can find someone to share this experience with. Again I ask, where are you? Sometimes I get this feeling that this person might be right in front of me and I just have to open my eyes to see her.

 Review

Lawyer Up is three fairly quick stories in one book.  Three erotic and fast-paced stories.

The focus around the legal profession where things are always hot and off the collar.

Each story is unique and gets quite hot and steamy.  They are about second chances and believing in love again.  The storyline is well developed for how short they are.  There isn’t anything left out.

Please read these stories with caution and in the confines of a personal area.  If you are looking for a quick yet hot and delicious read – I recommend reading this.

Chapter 1
Bran

I shouldn’t have fucked her last week. That was my mistake, and I feel like a douche—something I’m not used to.
I watch Destiny tuck a long strand of platinum hair behind her ear with her pen as she finishes taking drink orders at the table near the door. She shoots me a secret smile when she turns and makes her way over, and I mentally shoot myself for getting caught looking. This train’s already careening down the track, barely holding onto the rails, and when I pull shit like this, it only picks up momentum.
“We got Hendricks?” she asks, slapping her order on the ancient mahogany bar between us.
I look over the order. “Closest thing I got is Tanqueray.”
The smile falls off her face and she blows out a sigh. “I’ll ask him.”
I follow the curve where her tiny waist blooms into a killer ass as she turns and heads back to the table.
She’s hot. That’s what it boils down to. When I took her home last week, it was after her first training shift with Carol. We’d sat at the bar and knocked back a few after closing and I got caught up in everything she had going on. I totally missed the signs. I didn’t see that she was looking for more than a hookup until after it was too late—until she didn’t leave after we’d done the deed.
The only guy at the table with three women—some total wannabe with a dark suit jacket over a turtleneck and pressed jeans—scowls and gives Destiny some lip. I can’t hear what he says over the piped in Kat Country, but she shrugs and says something back, then offers me an apologetic squint when the guy pushes up from his seat. He starts my direction on polished loafers, but his eyes widen slightly and he pulls up short when he sees me.
The reaction’s not unusual. When I left for boot camp six years ago, I was already in decent shape. I was Oak Crest High’s first ever (and only, as far as I know) four sport athlete all for years—football in the fall, wrestling in the winter, and baseball and track in the spring. Which is probably a big part of the reason my grades weren’t good enough to do anything but enlist. But the Marines made all that training look like fucking Romper Room, and it was only a matter of weeks before my bulk didn’t fit into any of my old clothes anymore. Since Pop owns the local gym and my sister Brenda runs it, when I’m not working behind Mom’s bar at the Sam Hill Saloon, I spend most of my time lifting weights. I’ve managed to stay in pretty decent shape…which means guys like this pansy ass are generally intimidated. Course, the tattooed six-foot-three thing doesn’t hurt the intimidation factor. Since I let my dark flattop grow out, I look more like a biker than an ex-Marine.
After a beat, his shiny shoes start moving again but he stops three feet short of the bar, out of my wingspan. “Tanqueray or Tanqueray number ten?” he demands, putting on a “big man” show for the women he’s here with.
I step aside to show him the rack behind me and he flinches a little at my movement. “For top shelf gin, Tanqueray’s what I got.”
He closes his eyes for a moment and exhales his disappointment, then scans my top shelf again. “Tanqueray isn’t even in the same league as Hendricks.”
I shrug. “You want the citrus, I’d go with the Seagrams. Something drier, I’ve got Beefeaters.”
He rolls his eyes toward the ceiling as if my suggestions are all so far below him he’s afraid of getting a nosebleed if he has to look all the way down at them. “Just give me the Tanqueray. Make it a Tom Collins so I don’t have to taste it.”
He stalks back to his table and drops into his seat as I start on their order.
Destiny comes over and watches me mix. “That guy’s a jerk,” she say with a flick of her eyes back toward the wannabe professor. “Thank God he’s Carol’s to deal with in fifteen.”
“You’re giving Carol the tip?” I say with raised eyebrows.
Her lip curls. “Guys like that don’t tip.”
I lift my eyes to him as I shake his Tom Collins. “He give you a hard time?”
“He thought I should’ve known what kind of Tanqueray we have.” Her face scrunches. “I didn’t even know there were different kinds.”
I glance at the table again. City folk for sure. Probably up here in the foothills for something at the college. “Guess he didn’t realize he’d wandered out of his natural habitat.”
She busts out a laugh as I pour his drink into the highball. “So, I was thinking…” she says when her laugh dies. “I could swing by your place when you get off. If you want.”
“Listen…” I start, setting the drink on her tray. But just as I open my mouth to tell her I don’t do relationships, Mom shoves through the swinging door from the kitchen. Five years in the Marines and two tours in Afghanistan, and I’ve yet to come across another single person who intimidates me…except my mom. She makes some of my Marine COs look like kindergarten teachers.
“Hey Vicky,” Destiny says. “Has Carol punched in yet?” She tosses her eyes at Mr. Hendrick’s. “I’m giving her that table as soon as she does.”
“She just clocked in,” Mom answers, glancing suspiciously at the table. “What’s the issue?”
Destiny shrugs a shoulder and picks up the tray of drinks I slide across the bar to her. “That guy needs to get over himself. Carol’s better at dealing with people like that.”
It’s the “take no crap” chromosome in the Silo family gene pool. My cousin is almost as intimidating as Mom. She has a way of putting pricks like that in their place without them even realizing how it happened.
Just as I’m thinking it, I see her pass by the porthole in the wooden door to the kitchen, pulling her dark curls back into a ponytail. A second later, she pushes through the door.
She looks at the three of us and her eyes narrow as she slings her short, black apron under her bulging belly and ties it. “You guys do know that when everyone clams up and stares at you when you walk into a room, that’s a dead giveaway they were talking about you, right?”
“All good, cuz,” I say, lifting one hand in surrender while picking up my bar rag with the other.
She gives us a glare that could fry bacon. “I’m not fat.”
“No, you’re not,” Destiny says, handing her the tray of drinks. “But I’m punching out and I need you to take that table.”
Carol’s gaze shifts to the table in question. “What’s wrong with them?”
“The guy’s a sanctimonious prick,” I say wiping down the bar. “He needs to be reminded his shit still stinks in the way only you can.”
A slow smile pulls at her mouth and she takes the drink tray.
“He’s the Tom Collins,” Destiny says. “The chardonnay is for the girl on his right and the Cosmos are for the other two.”
She bats her eyelashes and starts toward the table. “Coming right up,” she says, all breathy and sweet.
Mom turns to me once she’s gone, her frown deepening. “I came out here to remind you to put a note in the drawer if you pull petty cash, Bran.”
I give her a dubious smirk. “Really, Ma? I’ve been doing this for almost a year. Think I’ve got the drill down by now.”
“Well, the drawer came up exactly sixty short last night. So how else do you explain that?”
I feel my brows lift. My drawer’s never off by anything more than a few pennies. “You sure you didn’t pull it for the wine order?”
She scowls at me and crow’s feet crease the corners of her eyes. “I might be old, but I’m not senile yet.”
For her age, I have to say Mom looks pretty damn amazing. She met Dad sometime in the stone ages, when she used to dance at a strip club in San Francisco, and even still, I can see why he picked her out of the crowd. She’s got a deep worry line at the inside corner of her right eyebrow, but otherwise her face is deceptively youthful. The only thing that gives her age away is the skunk stripe that starts on the left side of her forehead and winds through the sea of dark hair pinned onto the back of her head like a the first swirl of cream into black coffee.
“I didn’t take any cash, Ma. Seriously.”
She sighs wearily and rubs her eyes. “It’s been a long day. I’ll check the numbers again tomorrow morning when I can think.”
I lean down and give her a peck on the cheek. “’Night, Ma.”
She hooks her elbow around my neck and yanks me in for a hug. “See you tomorrow, baby boy.”
She’s the only one I’d ever let call me baby or honey or any shit like that because, like I said, I’m a little scared of her. I watch her disappear through the kitchen door.
And then it’s just Destiny, waiting for an answer.
I take a deep breath and blow it out slowly as I turn to her. “Listen, Destiny. There’s no question you are fucking amazing, and I had an awesome time the other night…but I feel like you might have gotten the wrong idea about what this is.” I drop the bar rag and splay my hands on the bar between us, holding her gaze. I may be a dick, but I’ve got a moral compass that points in the right general direction most of the time. She deserves to be told straight up. “I’m not the kind of guy that does relationships, and even if I were, you wouldn’t want one with me.”
It’s not like I expect her to whine or beg. I’ve only known her for a week, since Mom hired her for day shifts, but she seems generally more together than that.
What I also don’t expect is a shameless smile to spread over her face as she leans closer. “So, are you saying that pounding me until I scream your name is too much of a commitment?”
I blow out a laugh and give my head a slow shake. “This isn’t how I pictured this conversation going.”
She pushes away from the bar and unties her apron. “I’ll be back before closing. Maybe have a drink or two. And when you leave, if you take me with you, you won’t be sorry. If not…” She shrugs. “…no harm no foul.”
I watch as she disappears through the kitchen door behind Mom to punch out. Carol drops another drink order on the bar on her way to the kitchen and I go back to work.
The Friday evening crowd picks up and it’s not long before all the tables are full and patrons start lining the bar. I dim the lights—the closest we come to ambiance.
The Sam Hill Saloon has been here since the gold rush, when the town of Oak Crest was established as a mining camp. After they got married, Dad brought Mom out here and bought her this bar to keep her “busy,” since he didn’t want her taking off her clothes for horny men anymore. She got it in the divorce and has run it for the last thirty years, but the truth is, almost nothing here has changed for nearly three quarters of a century. There are pictures on the walls of grimy gold miners lined up at this very bar. Even most of the chunky wooden barstools and tables have survived. At some point, some owner lined the front wall under the windows with three booths, and Mom added a big-screen TV, but other than that, it looks exactly like the pictures. And there’s the faint stench of stale beer emanating from the floor planking that no amount of bleach will ever get out.
But it’s a landmark, and the only bar in town, so we’re usually busy.
I’m blending a pair of frozen daiquiris with one hand and shaking a martini with the other when out of the corner of my eye, I see a solo blonde slide onto the barstool at the end, near the beer taps. I finish what I’m doing and prepare the tray for Carol to pick up before glancing over and seeing its Destiny.
A guy in the middle of the bar makes eye contact and nods at his empty beer mug. I grab it and start filling without really looking up at her. “Didn’t think I’d see you again till closer to closing.”
“Sorry?” she says. “Are you talking to me?”
The voice is off—slightly raspy and a pitch lower than her usual. I look up again and squint at her, wondering if she’s already started drinking. She’s taken her straight hair down from the ponytail she always wears it in and it’s not as long as I remember it from the other night—the only other time I’ve seen it down. There’s also a fading blue stripe cutting through the platinum over her right ear that I’ve never noticed before.
“What can I get you?” I ask her instead of pushing it.
I’m already reaching for the vodka and cranberry to start on a Madras, her drink of choice last week, when she answers, “Rum and Coke.”
“That’s different,” I mutter, shooting her another glance.
She gives me a puzzled look. “Look, I really just wanted to find out if you hire entertainment.”
My face mirrors her puzzlement, I’m sure, as I try to process her statement. “Why?”
She hunches to the side and pulls something up from her feet. I see it’s a battered black guitar case when the narrow end peeks over the top of the bar. “Because I need a gig.”
“Didn’t know you played,” I say, pushing her drink across the bar to her.
That baffled look is back as she pulls it toward her and takes a swallow. I can’t help following the curve of her long neck downward toward a pair of large round tits perfectly outlined by her snug, low-cut T-shirt. She is definitely hot, and if we’re on the same page, then I’ve got nothing to feel guilty about. She wants me to fuck her till she screams? I’m perfectly capable of that. She sets her drink down and catches me staring. She cuts me that wicked smile again, causing my cock to stir. I return the smile, sending the innuendo right back at her.
She props her elbows onto the bar and leans forward, giving me a clear look down her shirt. “Considering that we’ve never met before, I don’t find that surprising.”
I’m so absorbed in images of my face buried in those magnificent tits that it takes me a second to process what she said.
My eyes snap to hers. “Wait…what?”
She reaches across the bar, offering me a hand. “Lilah.”
There’s a full second all I can do is stare, wondering if this is one of those split personality things you hear about sometimes. And in that second, through the dim lighting, I take in all the tiny details—a dark mole at the outer corner of her right eye; her eyes, silver instead of blue; the missing white crescent-shaped scar above Destiny’s right eyebrow; and lips, a little fuller than I remember—which are smirking at me now.
“You’re not Destiny,” I say as it all clicks.
It’s not a question, but she shakes her head. “No. I am most definitely not Destiny.”
“Twins?” I ask.
She cocks her head playfully. “What do you think?”
“You’ve got to be. You’re fucking identical except for the eyes.” I tap my forehead. “And you’re missing a scar.”
Her perfect blond eyebrow raises in amusement. “She’s the pretty one and I’m the smart one.”
I bark out a laugh as I reach across and shake her hand. “Bran Silo. Good to meet you.”
She doesn’t let go of my hand for a second after we’re done shaking—just long enough to send a clear message that she’s interested.
A knot forms in my gut, and I realize it’s guilt. Destiny and I have an understanding, but regardless, I’m pretty sure fucking her sister would be way outside the bounds of gentlemanly behavior. Not that anyone would ever mistake me for a gentleman. “Destiny never mentioned she had a sister.”
“Doesn’t surprise me.” She takes another drink, nearly polishing it off in a few big gulps.
I tip my head at it her glass. “Another?”
“My limit is one,” she says, pushing her glass toward me. “Just Coke this time, thanks.”
Carol sweeps by on her way to the kitchen, dropping an order on my bar. “Thought you left,” she says to Lilah without slowing down. “Careful or your favorite customer might ask for you,” she adds, jerking her head at Mr. Hendricks as she disappears through the swinging door.
I bark out a laugh as I scoop ice into Lilah’s glass and fill it with Coke. “Good to know I’m not the only one.”
Lilah shrugs. “Happens all the time.” She slides out of her chair, lifting the guitar case. “So do you want to hear me play or what?”
I look around the crowded room, loud with chatter, drowning out the background music. “We don’t generally have live entertainment,” I say, which is really an understatement. We’ve never had live entertainment. But for some reason, I’m not willing to shut Lilah down so fast.
When my eyes find her again, annoyed impatience shines loud and clear out of her gaze. “So that’s a no?”
I feel my mouth pull into a cocky half-smile. “I didn’t say that.”
She opens her case and pulls out her guitar, unabashedly climbing through the window I left ajar for her. I watch as she sets herself up on the stool and rests the guitar in her lap, gripping it softly but confidently. She starts strumming, and I expect her to be discrete, since this is basically an audition, but there’s not a shred of self-consciousness or embarrassment anywhere in her disposition as she begins to belt out lyrics—an old No Doubt song that I can’t remember the name of.
The way she plays, as if on instinct; the passion in her voice, and the fact that she’s really fucking good, starts to turn heads at the tables closest to us. As they quiet and listen, more tables still, and soon the only thing she’s competing to be heard over is the Kat Country on the speakers. But she doesn’t decrease her volume. If anything, as eyes find her, she becomes louder, feeding off the attention.
I reach under the bar and click off the stereo, then lean onto the back counter and cross my arms, listening as she finishes one song and launches into the next.
A guy at the bar pulls a five from his pocket and flags me down with it. I grab his beer mug, but he shakes his head. “Is there a tip jar?” he asks with a nod toward Lilah.
I pull a fresh mug from under the bar and he slips the five inside, then I set it at the end of the bar near Lilah. She cuts me a smile and her eyes slide down my body as she sings.
And fuck me. I lean my hands on the bar and press against the lower counter when my dick won’t yield to my will. Without a doubt, everything Destiny has going on, Lilah’s got that and more.EACH BOOK CAN BE READ AS A STAND-ALONE

Screwed by Kendall Ryan…Cover & Chapter Reveal

We are very excited for this brand new standalone from Kendall Ryan. Releasing on September 15 we get a peek at a sexy romantic comedy from the NYT Bestselling author.

Screwed Banner

Screwed_amazonI have one rule: Don’t shit where you eat.
Several of the women in the condo complex I own would love some one-on-one playtime, and why wouldn’t they? I’m young, fit, attractive, and loaded. Not to mention I’m packing a sizable bulge below the belt. It’s a combination that drops panties on a regular basis.

Yay, me, right?

But my cock, troublemaker that he is, has been confined to my trousers by my business partner. A concession I agreed to, and one that’s never been hard to enforce until Emery moves in across the hall. She’s smart, young, determined, and sexy as hell. I want a taste. I won’t stop until I’m buried deep inside the succulent new-in-town brunette.

After being warned about my past, she does her best to steer clear, but I’m about to show her that underneath it all, I’m a guy with a heart of gold and a cock of steel.

My name is Hayden Oliver, and this is my story.

SCREWED is standalone romantic comedy by New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Kendall Ryan.                  ADD TO GOODREADS

Chapter One

Hayden
Goddamn. This is going to be harder than I thought.
My eyes swing over to admire the most perfect pear-shaped ass I’ve
ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on while my business partner Hudson
continues lecturing me. I think it’s something important, but there’s nothing
more urgent than my body’s reaction to this shapely brunette. Jesus.
Those tits are definitely real.
“I mean it. Your cock is cut off this time,” Hudson says roughly,
his tone biting.
Tearing my gaze away from the succulent new brunette moving into
unit 4B, I face him. “Not literally cut off. I’m sort of attached to him. You
realize that, right?”
“Well it’s on lock down then. No more of this bullshit. I had
three calls this week alone from hysterical women – our tenants – who you, how
do I put this delicately? You fucked and then left before their pussies were
even dry.”
I smirk at him, but I can’t deny the accusation. We’re like the
real life Melrose Place. Sexy young twenty-somethings all living in close
proximity. There’s bound to be a little drama now and again. Together, Hudson
and I own thirty buildings in the greater Los Angeles area. And some of our
buildings have very fuckable tenants. Up until this point, I’d considered that
a nice bonus, and a perk of the job. Hudson has apparently viewed it
differently.
“Who’s that?” I ask, tipping my head toward the bombshell who’s
responsible for all the blood rushing to my groin. Fuck. I should have a
word with her about that, that’s not cool.
Hudson’s eyes swing to the left to see what, or rather, who has
captured my attention. And who’s given me this semi-chub, which I hope he
hasn’t noticed. We’re close, but we’re not that close.
“No, no, no. Don’t get any ideas. You’re not tagging that.”
She’s not close enough to overhear us, but I shoot him a scowl
anyway. “Show some class, man. Tagging is such a juvenile word. I’d take my
time, get her hot and ready first, until she was begging for me to fill her
tight, little cunt.”
“I’m fucking serious. You’re not to even think about her tight
cunt.”
“So you acknowledge she’s got a tight cunt?” I smile, proud of
myself.
He wipes sweat from his brow, looking worried. “Hayden, I’m
serious this time.” His voice has taken on a somber tone, and for once, I try
to be serious and focus.
Watching the way the vein throbs in his neck, my smile fades.
We’re standing outside of one of our nicest buildings just outside of downtown,
and the mid-afternoon sun is beating down on us. Suddenly I want to get away from
him, and away from this entire conversation and into the cool air conditioning
inside. Shit has gotten a little too real for me.
“You know me,” I grin at him, trying to lighten the mood. “I just
wanted to have some casual fun.” And if that meant sleeping my way through the
LA singles scene, so be it. I’m not looking for something deeper. I have a
luxury condo in the heart of the Hollywood Hills, drive a new model BMW and
possess a nine-inch cock. Translation: Life is good. Or it was, until Hudson
decided to get a bug up his ass and lay down the law today.
“Did you hear a word I just said? One of your latest conquests
threatened to report our company to the Better Business Bureau for unethical
business practices. This isn’t just about you. This affects me too. And I’ll be
damned if I watch everything we’ve built go down in flames because you can’t
keep your dick in your pants.”
“Point taken.” Hudson is pretty much the best friend, and best
business partner you could ask for. He’s smart as hell, dedicated, works like a
dog day and night. And not to mention when we began our real estate investment
company five years ago, he single-handedly fronted all the start-up capital
from his own savings and trust fund. It took me years to pay him back as the
profits rolled in, and he never once made me feel lesser, or like I was in debt
to him. Not to mention, he’s funny, well-off, and good looking. He’s an
excellent wing-man. Plus he knows the best taco joints.
Unable to help myself, my eyes drift over to her again. 4B fills
out a pair of yoga pants in ways that I doubt are even legal in most countries.
I needed to know what was underneath those curve-hugging black athletic pants.
Simple cotton panties, or a naughty g-string? Either way, I wanted to bury my
fingers inside the waistband of those pants, peel them down her hips and find
out. Perhaps it was because Hudson just made her forbidden fruit, but I wanted
a taste. My damn mouth was practically watering.
She looked smart, and put together, despite her casual attire, including
a tank top and tennis shoes. With a clipboard in one hand, and her trusty
number two pencil in the other, she ticked items off of her list, and
instructed the movers who were unloading and carrying boxes up to her new place
– which just so happened to be directly underneath mine.
“You’re not going to last three minutes let alone three days.” Hudson
grimaces, glancing over again at our newest resident.
“What do you know about her?”
He rolls his eyes, but humors me. “Emery Elaine Winters. She’s an attorney.
Excellent references. Even better credit score, and she signed a one year
lease. And she’s to remain in pristine condition, or so help me God …”
When I glance up at her again, I see Roxy, another of our residents
has joined Emery on the sidewalk, and they appear to be making small talk.
Shaking hands, exchanging words, and smiling at each other. There’s something I
strongly dislike about these two women talking. Roxy is an exotic dancer, and
she I have a bit of a rocky past. Which is a huge fucking understatement, but
not something I care to dwell on now. Hudson mentions something about fourth
quarter taxes, and I tune him out, sure I just heard my name on Roxy’s
over-glossed lips.
“Excuse me, I’ve got business to attend to.” I step around him,
heading straight toward my new prize. Roxy spots me, and takes off for the
parking area.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Hudson calls after me.
“Just being neighborly. Someone’s got to properly welcome Miss
Winters.”
“Dammit, Hayden,” I hear him shout.
“I’ve got this, buddy,” I shout back over my shoulder.
I can control myself around her. I have to, according to Hudson. I
don’t like being told what to do, especially where my cock was concerned, and
hell, it’ll probably only make me want her more, but as I close the distance
between Emery and me, I make a plan.
Friends.
I would become friends with the
so-hot-I-wanted-to-bend-her-over-and-fuck-her-in-broad-daylight new girl.
This was either the best plan I’d ever had, or would end with me
sporting a black eye, courtesy of my best friend.
It’s go time.

EXCERPT

She sensed him.
Maybe she’d caught a glimpse of his tall form out of the corner of her eye, but she knew that Colton was behind her. A sense of exhilaration came over her, along with a dash of impulsiveness.
Stopping, she braced one hand against the wall and lifted her foot behind her. Arching her back, she toyed with the high heel as if it needed adjusting. Carefully, she turned the bracelet on her ankle so the charm lay on the outside of her foot.
Her breath caught when he was suddenly on her.
His arm swept around her waist as it had when he’d caught her in the kitchen, and he pressed her against the wall.
‘Colt –’
She didn’t get his whole name out, because his mouth was suddenly covering hers in a kiss so hot, she worried her shoes would melt.
He caught her wrists and pressed them flat against the wall on either side of her head, and arousal gushed inside her. Slick and viscous, it filled her veins, making her muscles tense and relax at the same time.
It had been good when she’d kissed him before. Fantastic.
This was the first time he’d taken the lead, and the sensuality was insane.
He tore his mouth away from hers. His chest was rising and falling in jagged movements. ‘You have to stop this,’ he said hoarsely. ‘You have to stop teasing me. Stop tempting me.’
‘No, I don’t.’ Her breaths were coming hard, too, and she ran her tongue over her lips. ‘Give in.’
‘Erin.’ His voice was sharp, like when he went after someone on the stand.
She arched sexily. She wanted him to come after her.
‘I have,’ she whispered.
His eyes flashed to nearly the colour of midnight. His fingers bit into her wrists, and Erin revelled in it. A sound left the back of his throat, and his mouth came down hard on hers again. Their lips sealed tight, and his tongue laved hers.
‘Mmm,’ she hummed when her need cranked up a notch.
He had her trapped, held down, but she arched her back to rub against his body. His weight pressed against her as he leaned in, his chest hard against her breasts, plumping them and making her nipples pinch.
The kiss went on and on. It had been years in the making.
‘Take me upstairs,’ she whispered when they were forced to come up for air. ‘To my old bedroom.’
His curse echoed in her ear. ‘Do you really want my head on a platter?’
She didn’t understand. She wanted his body on a bed. Or the floor. Or right here.
His mouth ran down the side of her neck, and his teeth closed around the muscle that led to her shoulder. She let out a moan and twisted into him. The sound echoed down the hallway, but he cut it off with another blistering kiss.
Erin strained against her constraints. She couldn’t touch him, couldn’t hold him. It was hot as hell, but so frustrating.
‘Let me touch you.’
‘Not going to happen.’
Yet he didn’t stop kissing her. Or rubbing intently against her breasts.
But he deliberately kept his hips away. She could feel his hardness barely brushing against her belly. She wanted more. She needed to feel his hot, muscled body against hers.
She did the only thing she could; she climbed him like a tree.
Swinging a leg high around his waist, she hitched herself up. His hips swung forward, almost as if they had no other option. She took advantage of the opportunity. Knowing he wouldn’t drop her, she hopped up and wrapped both thighs around his waist.
When she settled down, his erection was right where she needed it the most. Big, hard and hot. They both shuddered when she ground against him.
‘God! Sunny, I can’t do this. Not here.’
‘Then where?’
‘No.’ He shook his head as if to clear it. ‘That’s not what I meant.’
Erin had never felt a desire so intense or a need so strong. She had to be with him. She needed to feel him inside her. It was the only thing that would douse the heat in her core. She was ready to burst into flames at the smallest spark.
She rolled her hips almost frantically. This was no dry hump this time. Just a few more strokes, and she would be ready to come. He pumped up to meet her, and she let out a whimper of need.
‘Erin?’ They both froze when her mother’s voice came down the hallway.
Colton tore his mouth away from hers, and his muscles went taut.
‘Yes?’ Erin called, her voice squeaky.
‘Could you bring me a cup of tea, dear?’
Erin swallowed hard, but her voice still came out all wrong. ‘Sure, mom. Just . . . ohhhh . . . just give me a moment.’

Blyss Triology by JC Cliff….Blog Tour & Review

Series: The Bylss Trilogy
Author: J.C. Cliff
Genre: Dark NA Romance
Release Date: Available Now
Blyss is something the world has been trying to create since the beginning of time, the ultimate aphrodisiac, a drug used against women with one single purpose in mind ….
Julianna Oakley has just finished up her junior year at college and flies home to spend her last free summer with her father on their prestigious Georgia estate. Julianna isn’t the stereotypical rich girl, a spoiled prima-donna. She’s down to earth and has an independent streak a mile wide, insisting she makes her own way in this world.
Nick has been setting the stage for a long time, and sparks fly when their separate worlds collide. She is Nick’s ultimate obsession, and he will stop at nothing to own her.
When Travis, Nick’s right hand man, lays his eyes on the prize, all hell breaks loose. He should know Nick is playing for keeps, and while Julianna is fighting for her freedom, a lifetime full of secrets and twisted perceptions slowly unravel as Julianna gets caught in the fray.
 review
What in the hell did I just read?!?!   It’s darkish, twisted, very suspenseful and extremely intriguing!!
J.C. does a fantastic job of getting you right into the thick of things and not holding back.  Julianna is thrown into a world she could only imagine her in mind could exist.  And unfortunately, she is not given any chances to think freely or even make her own choices.
Travis and Nick – these two are some sick, twisted and ruthless assholes.  Well mostly Nick – he is a true asshole, through and through.  Travis will poke holes in your chest but will have hating and liking at the same time.
J.C. does a fantastic job of weaving a very deceitful and heart-wrench web of twists, lies and half-truths.  I have some many unanswered questions – none that have really been answered.  My interests just become more and more piqued as the story continues.
I feel the fight and determination on Julianna as she goes through this whole new journey.  I feel her inner battle and the fight raging within her.  I sense the struggle that Travis is feeling, but once his walls go up, he becomes just as crude as Nick.
J.C.’s writing will pull into the story and never let you go.  I read this book in one day.  I had to know what was going to happen and where this story was going to go.  The characters are written extremely well – so well, you will immediately have distinct feelings for each of them.  And I really love the added whit and humor thrown in to keep things from getting too dark for some readers – and it’s not corny!
“But what they have failed to realize is I am Juilanna Oakley, and I have not yet begun to fight.”
I loved how it ended.  Yes, it’s a cliffhanger but it’s one that has you wanting to jump right into the next book and seeing what Julianna has up her sleeve!
Learning how to survive in her new world, Julianna has no choice but to play “The game of Life.” Except it’s Nick’s game, and his rules apply. Captivity, drugs, and submission are the cards that are dealt, and it’s a losing game.
Biding her time as she waits for her rescuers, it’s far from smooth sailing, because all too quickly the rules abruptly change as Nick takes matters into his own hands…
As the drama unfolds, and hesitating to interfere, Travis has everything to lose should he decide to step in, including his life.
It’s opposition at its finest – freedom versus control as Nick and Julianna face the ultimate battle of wills.
While Travis has the uncanny ability to manipulate her with a single touch, Nick struggles to conquer her body, mind, and soul.
It’s every man for themselves as each have their own secret agenda, including Julianna, whose plan is simple: survive.

Blyssful Lies picks right up where Blyss ended and continues on the roller coaster ride of lifetime.
Julianna (Jules) is still trying to cope with her situation and figuring out ways to deceive and fight through her captivity.  She was able to handle her situation when she had Travis watching over her and training her.  But now she has to deal with Nick and she has already seen the brutal side of him when she first arrived.
Just when Jules thinks things could not get any worse, she awake to be taken by Travis and they are on the run.  However, things get very tricky and even more intense while in hiding from Nick. Travis does everything in his power to prove to Julianna that she can trust him and he does have her best interest at heart.  And just when things seem to be going in the right direction, shit hits the fan and everything starts spinning out of control.
We get to learn more about Nick and Travis in this book.  Even though there are some suspenseful scenes, this book felt more intimate than the first.  We see how obsessed Nick really is with Jules.  The ends he will go to to make her, his.  He comes across as very disturbed and even sadistic with his wanton need to claim her.  Travis is conflicted over his feelings for Jules.  He knows that after everything he has put her through, he is not the man she should ever want to be with.  But damn if he can’t help how he feels about her and he is determined to let her know that his feelings are real.
I love reading this story from all 3 characters POV’s.  It gives you a much better insight as to what they are feeling as everything is happening and gives the book more depth.  As always, J.C. has a way with words.  The pace of the book was perfect and everything read flawlessly.  Readers are left breathless and eager to see what happens next in this series.
This is Julianna’s story. She lived a normal life until she was about to turn twenty-one, and then all hell broke loose. Years of diabolical scheming unraveling at the seams, unleashing torrents of lies and deceit. The whirlwind of chaos and heartbreak will forever change the game.
Her chosen fate is one of stellar proportions, and she struggles to keep sane, trying to hold it together every step of the way. As the matrix of her concealed past unfolds to deliver the final blow, rationality and sanity begin to take on a definition and meaning of its own.
Nick thinks he’s the night in shining armor while Travis believes he will be enough to save her from herself, but does she even want to be saved?
Both men want her. Both men love her, and both men want to claim her, keeping her for themselves. But, as usual, Julianna has other plans.
review
I fell in love with this series from the very first book and each book has only gotten better.
Blysfully Undone is the conclusion, in the Blyss trilogy and definitely delivered a fantastic ending.  It starts with the adrenaline-pumped scene with Travis and Jules’s lives in hanging in the air.  And from there, things only take off.  There isn’t one time during this whole book (series honestly) that I wasn’t eagerly awaiting what was going to happen next.  And every time I speculated what might happen, I was wrong in some way.
J.C. does a sensational job of keeping the book flowing perfectly and never once going off track or confusing the reader as to what is going on.  I love how everything was intricately woven together and completely blows the reader away.  This book was written flawlessly and was extremely gripping.  It had all the angst, tension, suspense, love, passion, hatred, , hurt –  you get my point – it had everything!
The banter between all the characters, both main and secondary, really added to the whole plot.  These characters were so real to me and I loved that I felt every emotion  they went through.  As you are reading, everything so crystal clear to you, it’s like everything is being played out before you in a movie.
The book ended beautifully.  Some people may have want a different ending , but I feel that J.C. gave the ending this while story deserved. If you have not read this series yet, I highly recommend that you do.  You won’t regret it.
This series is one you do not want to miss out on.

“Do you enjoy the view?” King Edric asked.

“The rains have made the gardens bloom, and it warms my heart to see it so.”

“It is good to know that the gardener approves of the work.”

Cyrene laughed lightly. “I have not gardened in a month’s time. I fear I can no longer call myself a gardener.”

She remembered when she had told the king of her interest in gardening at the last feast day almost a week ago. After that dance, Queen Kaliana added a list of plants to her assignment, forcing her to reread every page she had already dredged through for information. It had wasted two entire days.

“Perhaps I could change that,” he offered.

He directed her down the staircase and into the courtyard below lit solely by the setting sun in the distance.

Her stomach churned at the thought of him offering assistance to any of her needs. It was like what she had read in her children’s books of the tales of Leifs, and how one request would be necessitated by a much larger sacrifice. Her biggest sacrifice at the present moment was time. She wanted nothing more than to finish her work on agriculture and prove that she could get moved somewhere that involved traveling…and adventure.

“On the contrary, My King, I am fully enthralled in my Affiliate duties, and believe that gardening would only distract me from my work.”

“You cannot spare one afternoon to spend in my gardens?” His blue-gray eyes searched her face. “If you have half the green thumb you suggest, then it would be delightful to have you on the grounds.”

She swallowed. “I really have much work to accomplish before we go on Processional.”

“I could speak to the Queen and request it be lessened,” he whispered into the evening air.

“No!” It was the first time he had ever admitted to discussing her with the Queen. Hearing him admit it aloud made her voice come out strangled.

Cyrene missed her footing on the pebble path and stumbled forward a pace. Edric steadied her. He turned his body to face her in the middle of the garden, and her breath caught at the sight of him in the setting sun.

“You do not wish me to speak to the Queen?”

“I spoke out of turn. Please forgive me.”

“I cannot forgive that which I do not understand. Did the Queen somehow offend you?”

Cyrene shook her head. “I fear that the Queen does not…like me.”

Edric laughed softly, taking one of her hands in his own. “Oh Cyrene, I believe that the Queen likes no one but herself.”

Cyrene found that she, too, could laugh at his comment.

“Now, tell me what the Queen has done to make you believe that she dislikes you.”

“It’s nothing, my King.” She turned her face away from his. She couldn’t possibly tell him the real reason.

“Enough to infuriate you, which is enough for me.”

When she looked back up into his blue-gray eyes she felt that same magnetic pull between them. Somehow she had not realized how close they were standing. His hand felt warm against her bare skin. His body only a few inches away from her. His breath hot on her face. Her heart contracted in her chest, and she forced herself to respond.

“She speaks of…of your interference, as if…as if you…”

Time stretched between them, and she thought for a split second he might move even closer to her. She was rooted in place, captivated by his gaze.

“Yes?” His other hand drifted to her waist, and she was suddenly on fire.

Their breath mingled together as she murmured, “As if you favor me.”

“And do you think that?”

“I…”

“Yes?” he asked, stepping closer.

“I think you have your queen,” she breathed.
