Sally Thorne’s debut novel, The Hating Game, was recommend by the amazing Tessa Bailey. My thinking is, if an author you adore says READ THIS BOOK, you READ THAT BOOK. This is by far one of my favorite reads of not only 2016, but honestly, ever! I devoured it in about six hours. I laughed, cried and yelled more than once during this read. Then I promptly did what all good readers do when they become obsessed with a book, I stalked Sally Thorne on Goodreads, Facebook, IG and Twitter.

Lucy Hutton and Josh Templeman live to hate each other. The clock started on their hating game the moment their struggling publishing companies merged last year. He views her overly friendly personality as weak and allows people to take advantage of her. She can’t stand the fact that he never smiles and is constantly brooding and complaining about the staff at Bexley-Gamin. Both are executive assistants to the co-CEOs and both are plotting their next move to ensure they are promoted for a new coveted position up for grabs. Problem is, there can only be one Chief Operating Officer. My Review:

Well Hung is the newest release from author Lauren Blakely and if you read no other sentence in this review, read this one: you have GOT to read this book!

The combination of sexy, flirty, funny, witty, and down right delicious writing in this story had me glued to each page. The relationship between Natalie and Wyatt was seriously off the charts FUN!

Wyatt, having been burned pretty badly in the past, has kept his attraction to his assistant Natalie under wraps until a trip to Vegas for a job puts them in close quarters and has Natalie confessing her own attraction to him. That, right there, is a recipe for all sorts of Vegas inspired shenanigans in all sorts of different, decadent and sexy flavors including a drunken trip down the aisle. It also leads to all sorts of complications when they return to the regular working world. Complications like Wyatt being head over heels for his wife and not wanting to end their sort-of-pretend marriage.

I loved the internal struggle that predicament brought about in Wyatt. His feelings ran deep and intense and I loved reading all of it. My heart ached for him and I wanted a happy ever after for him and Natalie desperately. Of course with Wyatt being a guy and all, you know the road to any kind of ending was going to be a bit clumsy. But all of that stumbling along the way made Wyatt not just a likable character, it made him a downright lovable one. He sits comfortably in my top ten list of all time fave book guys. Yep, I said it! Natalie is just as amazing as Wyatt. I also loved her internal struggle when it came to Wyatt and wanting to make their relationship a real one. She’s loyal and kind and has a wickedly sexy side to her that was so great to read. There’s no timidness in the bedroom for our girl Natalie and that kind of woman is a breath of fresh air to read.

Oh, and the ending? So so so SO good! Totally swoon and dreamy sigh worthy.

If you’ve never read a Lauren Blakely book, you must pick this one up (and Mister O, because I adored that book as well!!). She writes the male POV with a charm and humor that makes her book guys so damn amazing. Thank you, Ms. Blakely, for another kick ass read!

(Oh, and full disclosure here…this was one of those books I stopped reading at 80% and put down for a day because I was dreading finishing it. I just didn’t want it to be over! lol!)

Let’s back up.

How did we get from not kissing to kissing? What was that turning point? Did she lean into me? Did I move closer to her? Details matter. I’ll gladly share them.

Start with six months of sexual tension. Add in two mojitos for her, two beers for me, and a couple vodka tonics. Stir that with some bad news on the business front, and top it with the cherry of Natalie’s hit-me-over-the-head-with-a-stick comment that left no question as to what she wanted…and here I am.

We don’t lean into each other. There’s no inch-by-slow-sensual-inch pull. It’s not a slow burn.

It’s a fiery crash. We’re two cars speeding on the highway of this night, and we slam into each other, crawl across the hoods, and kiss like crazy.

Nothing is tentative about this. We go from not kissing to kissing in less than sixty nanoseconds. Yeah, I don’t really know what a nanosecond is, either. But it happens in no time.

And now my hand is in her hair, yanking her close as we crush our lips together. We kiss hard and rough, fueled by pent-up desire and more than enough vodka and rum to make this inevitable.

Her teeth scrape me, and I growl, loving her roughness. I suck hard on her bottom lip, and I’m rewarded by nearly the same sound from her. She’s like a tiger, and together we’re animals.

I grip her head tighter, and her hands are all over me—in my hair, then down my chest, then along my arms. We kiss so deeply, it’s like we’re trying to climb each other.

At some point, she breaks off, breathes out hard, then whispers in my ear, “I’ve wanted to do that for so long.”

“Not as long as I have. Now get those lips back on mine,” I tell her, and she complies.

My hands cup her cheeks, but I’m not gentle, and she doesn’t want me that way. She’s not a gentle girl. She’s badass and tough, and she wants what I want. I hold her face tightly in my hands, and she practically crawls into my lap in a rush to get closer, then closer still as she presses her tits against my chest.

I’m seated on a stool at the bar, and we are putting on some kind of show. But I don’t care.

My tongue searches and hunts, wanting to taste every corner of her mouth, savoring the vodka and the tonic and, most of all, the Natalie. She whimpers and moans, and I swallow every sexy sound she makes.

This stool is ours. This bar is ours. The night belongs to this kiss, because it’s not a starter kiss. It contains all the clues necessary to assemble the puzzle of where this night will end.

With unwavering certainty, I know what kind of kiss this is.

As I explore her mouth, and she claims mine with equal urgency, I know that I will be fucking Natalie tonight.

Roni Loren starts this story off with a character who shy and unsure of herself. Cora is lost in the game of love and really never sees herself being loved or even wanted, after all she is tomboy who is every mans best friend. As she searches for the truth at her new job, she discovers herself falling in love with not one but two hot bosses. Hayes and Ren are characters who you have to love. They are strong, dominant, hot and funny as hell. It is like getting a two for one in book boyfriends.

As I started to read Loving You Easy within the first chapter I said to myself “well I didn’t see that coming”. Five pages later, I kid you not, I said “Holy Sh!%t, I did not see that coming at all”! This book truly surprised me in every way. It was a mystery, a love story, kinky, and surprising.

I am not sure I would necessarily read a book like this again, simply because it is not a story line I particularly seek out, however Roni went for it. I must say she succeeded! This is simply a great book that had wonderful written characters who not only found themselves but each other. The best part of it all is that it had great scenes of all different types of love and even better was that the Cora, Hayes and Ren truly accept and embrace who they are without any apologies. Roni Loren deserves credit for writing about a love we have all heard about but is often not accepted. My hats off to you Roni!

Four Loves

Excerpt:

Cora inhaled through her nose, trying to calm herself. She should be okay. The party was crowded and blending in shouldn’t be a problem.

She moved through the main part of the room, grabbing a glass of wine off a passing waiter’s tray and scanning faces for Grace. Usually her friend was hard to miss, but Cora didn’t see her blond head anywhere. Dammit.

She spotted a table in the farthest spot from the hallway. Two women were sitting there, but there was a chair free. She headed that way and retrieved her phone from her purse so she could text Grace.

The women looked up when she reached their table. Cora smiled. “Hi, do you mind if I sit?”

The older of the two women waved a hand. “Not at all, please do. We were just about to go to the bar anyway.”

“Oh, you don’t have to get up. I—”

But they were already up and gathering their things.

God. She was apparently wearing people repellant tonight. She resisted doing a sniff test to make sure her deodorant was working and then plopped down in one of the chairs. The last thing she wanted to do was sit at a table alone again, but she needed to text Grace, and standing around with no one to talk to looked even more conspicuous. She set down her wine so she could type two-thumbed.

The message sent, but as Cora stared at the screen, no little dots popped up to indicate that Grace was responding. “Come on, where the hell are you?”

She opened up her favorites list, ready to call Grace until she answered, but before she could hit the button to dial, a hand planted on the table right next to Cora’s wine, rattling the glass.

She startled but didn’t look up. That hand was all she could focus on. Because somehow, she knew. Tan skin and long fingers, the edge of a colorful tattoo peeking out from a shirt cuff.

Cora prayed for a trap door. An eject button. An invisibility cloak.

None appeared.

In one fluid motion, the chair across from her was pulled out and dragged closer. Her guest slid into the spot. Uninvited. Unapologetic. His mere presence demanded she respond. There was a sense of… provocation. Almost a dare. Cora forced herself to look up.

Shit. The curse almost slipped out.

It was worse than she’d thought—the looking. The guy could’ve just stepped off the red carpet. Charcoal suit, plum-colored T-shirt, a mess of perfectly styled jet-black hair, and a face that was so beautiful it’d almost seem feminine if not for the hard angle of his jaw and the shadow of stubble. This was a guy who knew he looked good and wasn’t afraid to use it like a weapon.

He gave her an unreadable smile. “This seat taken?”

Her throat felt like it’d narrowed to nothing, but she forced words out. “Seems a little late to ask.”

The man’s coal eyes sparkled, like he was in on some eternal joke. And he was. He knew. Somehow in this sea of people he’d picked out the girl from the dark. He knew she’d just watched him get off in the hallway, and she couldn’t play it off.

“I’m sorry.” She blurted—too loud, too sharp. One hundred percent without grace. Fantastic.

He leaned back in his chair, grabbed a drink off a passing waiter’s tray, and hooked an ankle over his knee, looking like he could literally be comfortable anywhere with anyone. “You were there first. Maybe I should apologize. Though, what you were doing all alone in the dark has got me curious.”

She cleared her throat, trying to tap the brakes on her body’s railroading response to this man. He was a stranger, but they’d shared this intensely sexual moment. Her wires were crossed, her body confused. “I was just trying to find a quiet place to make a call. But I… couldn’t get a good signal. Then… you walked in with your… a woman.”

He smiled and his gaze strayed toward the bar. Cora couldn’t help but follow it. It’s like he’d put his hand on her head to make it turn. At the bar, a woman with a long ponytail and blue maxi dress was in the arms of a man with salt-and-pepper hair. They were kissing—a little too passionately for this kind of party.

And Cora couldn’t help it—she had the thought. Can he taste this man’s come on his girlfriend’s lips? The thought tripped a wire inside her. One it shouldn’t. Her cheeks burned. “If you’re worried that I’m going to say anything, I’m not. Not my business.”

“You’re right. It’s not.” Her companion looked back to her, a secret smile playing around the edges of his mouth. “But it wouldn’t matter if you did. He already knows. He was the one who set it up.”

Cora’s lips parted. On some level, she knew that kind of thing happened. She was no innocent. But she couldn’t hide her knee-jerk reaction or shake off the sense that this man was toying with her. “Then why did you come over here? If you’re not worried about me outing you?”

He frowned, a line appearing between his dark brows. “I don’t recognize you. Have you been to one of Grant’s parties before?”

She straightened. Technically, she wasn’t crashing this thing. Grace’s boss had been the one to get the invite and had let Grace come on his behalf with a plus one. But Cora suddenly felt one hundred percent out of her league and like she’d been left out of some joke. Not that she was going to let this guy know that. “No. Haven’t had time to get to one before now.”

“Well, then I’m over here because things seen out of context by those who don’t know what they’re looking at can be misconstrued and get people in trouble. From the outside looking in, what happened could look… non-consensual. I needed to make sure you understood.”

“You needed to cover your ass. Got it,” she said, unsure why it came out with a biting edge to it. “You’re good.”

I force myself to look away because . . . well, because he’s a stranger. In my house. Naked. And oh my God, something is wrong with me, because I’m not running and calling 911 like I should.

When his chuckle subsides, he brings his head back down, so I can see the tears in his eyes from laughter. “That thing is my cock, and since this is my bathroom and you seem to be attempting to seduce me in my house, I don’t think you have any right to tell me what to do.” And with that, he leans a hip against the counter and folds his arms across his chest, eyes locked on mine and one eyebrow lifted. Everything else is left hanging out there in the wind.

“Your house? Seduce you?” At that point I realize I’m sputtering and shaking my head. “This is my house. You’re in my house.”

Confusion drifts across his face and his jaw falls lax. “Hold up.” He lifts his hands in the hold on a minute position, drawing my eyes back to where they don’t want to be. “No shit.” Sarcasm is my fallback and it doesn’t disappoint me now. A lot of good it does me, though, as I’m still doing the naked dance while trying to react to this surreal situation.

The look of disdain he gives me at my comment earns him no points in my book. “While I’m digging the socks with your outfit,” he says with a smirk, eyes veering down and then back up to my strategically placed hands, “you should cover up.” I catch the towel he tosses me and immediately wrap it around myself. I’m certain my mismatching knee-high socks make a statement about me, but I’m beyond caring, because I’m still alone in my house with a strange man and have no answers as to how this has happened.

With one hand clutching onto the towel at my collarbone, I use the other to motion to him. “You too.”

My Review:

Roman Crazy is a new work from the creative minds of Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci and if I could describe the book in one word it would be: FUN! (Yes, in all caps and followed by an exclamation mark).

From the very first page, I was hooked to each word. My heart broke for Avery and how this book opened. I mean every woman reading has got to be behind her 100% after we learn of her cheating jerk of a soon-to-be-ex-husband. I wanted her to get a rebound experience like no other and, oh man, does she ever! Our girl Avery holds her head high, leaves the ex and his snobby lifestyle behind and heads to Rome to spend the summer with her BFF…and of course, because Avery has earned a few coins in the karma bank, runs into an old flame she had burned hot and bright with. Let the fun begin! What follows are pages filled with self-discovery, second chances, new experiences, and joy…and I loved it all like a big delicious helping of freshly made authentic gelato.

I’ve gotta give these ladies credit. It has got to be hard to write as a team. I’ve seen it done well and I’ve seen it done not-so-well. This team was brilliant and, in my opinion, is right up there with Christian Lauren, another fave writing duo of mine. The writing was so descriptive and stunningly beautiful. I felt as though I was walking the streets with Avery and living right beside her in these moments. It was colorful and exciting, emotional and sexy. Truly, well done!

Strung Up is part of author Lorelei James’ Blacktop Cowboys series as well as novella number 14 in the 2016 1,001 Dark Nights line-up. I was beyond excited for this story not just because I’m a huge Lorelei James fan but also because this is the first M/M novella in 1,001 Dark Night’s repertoire and I knew it was going to be phenomenal. And, oh boy, was it ever!

From the very first page this is an emotional and touching story about lost love and second chances. My heart broke for Cres and the love he lost tragically years earlier. I wanted him to find love again so desperately and Breck could not have reappeared in his life at a better time. What develops between them is real, emotional, intense, and beyond sexy. Cres’ struggle with putting the past behind him and giving what he and Breck have found was touching and relatable on so many levels. I loved Breck for having both the insight to give Cres the time he needed but also called him out when it was necessary. He really become the partner Cres had always been looking for but was never able to truly find.

I also really enjoyed getting to see a few of the other characters form the series I have come to know and love.

Whether you’re new to Lorelei James or have been a long-time fan, this is a must read for all romance lovers!
