I like to think that this story contained many life lessons. For instance, we should not let our past define us and we can use painful lessons to help us make better choices. It took Logan’s clear vision of right and wrong for Sadie to understand that she was hurt, not ruined. I love it when Logan thinks, ‘Someone should have held and comforted her four years ago. Someone should have assured her she was blameless. He planned to spend the rest of his life doing that if she would let him.’ Is there anything more romantic than having someone recognize our heart-deep need and do what they can to meet it?

My Review:

Ego Maniac is the newest work from author Vi Keeland and proves once again that she is one helluva talented writer.

I loved every second of this book. From start to finish this story was just fantastic. From the cute and chance way in which Drew and Emerie met to the delicious sexual tension bubbling just beneath the surface and all the fabulous banter on between, it was all simply sublime. I don’t think I will ever get enough of the way Ms. Keeland writes her characters and their story. Drew and Emerie are two more shining examples of the wonderfully developed and multi faceted characters Ms. Keelend writes. You’ll finish this book feeling like these are real people and you’ve just had the chance of peeking in on their day-to-day life.

Drew is sexy sweet with a past that absolutely broke my heart. He’s got a dirty mouth with a big heart and a ton of loyalty to those he loves all wrapped up in a sexy as sin package. Emerie is a down to earth gal with a dynamic personality and takes her recent string of bad luck all in stride. I loved them together. Opposites in many ways, but very similar in others, they were just a stellar couple to read. Oh, and the secondary characters in this story? Man, you’re going to love to hate them.

Ego Maniac is another one of my Laughing Cow Cheese books. In case you have no idea what I mean with that reference, I’ll fill you in…

Have you seen the Laughing Cow commercial about snacking? The one where the cartoon cow asks what happened to the art of snacking? (I’ll put a link below in case you haven’t) She shows you that there’s other snacking options that eating a bag of chips, like little fun crackers and cheese. Ego Maniac was the Laughing Cow snack. It was the snack that you finished and thought how nice it was to break away from the chips and enjoy your snacking moment in a different way.

He barreled through his house, to his bedroom. Then he tossed me on the bed, where I bounced a couple of times before he took it upon himself to settle right on top. He took my keys out of my hands, throwing them across the room, and then laced his fingers through mine, pinning them over my head before I even had a chance to register what was happening. “I had to deliver a bike out of town. Piper’s been staying at my folks’ place. They’ve been taking her to school.”

I blinked a couple of times, taking in what he said.

“Although I’ll admit,” he continued, “I stayed gone a couple days longer than necessary, ’cause I needed the time away. That changed as soon as I heard what you said.”

My brows knitted together. “But you ignored me this morning.”

A ghost of a smirk came up. “You were with your girl. I gave you a nod. Thought you understood that meant we’d talk later.”

“How was I supposed to know that!” I got all flustered, which only made him bust out laughing on top of me. “Don’t laugh! I was really upset!”

“Yeah, you were all broken up, going out with another guy.”

“I was trying to get over you.”

He cocked an eyebrow. “How’s that working out for you?”

“Terrible.” I pouted. “You’re not an easy man to forget.”

“I’m not an easy man, period—” he gave both my hands above my head a squeeze, “—and you’ve got a sweetness to you…it’s not being naïve, like your sister said.” He rested his forehead against mine and closed his eyes. It seemed he was struggling to find the right words. He lifted his head to meet my gaze. “I did absolutely nothing to deserve a woman like you, but I promise, from this moment on, I’m going to be the man to protect every fuckin’ perfect thing you are.”

He thrust his hands deep into my hair and I laid my hands on his chest, watching as it rose and fell like he was out of breath. And his eyes…I have never seen a gaze so intense, with a fierceness bordering on madness. It both thrilled and scared me.

“You have no idea the demons I’ve been wrestling with since the day I met you.” His voice was rough, on edge, and I knew he was barely holding on. “Not because I think I’m going to hurt you, but because it makes me physically sick to think the work I do with the Order could make you a target. So I tried to stay away. I tried losing myself in any woman who even hinted at something that reminded me of you, hoping I could get lost in her for a night to dull the pain.”

I closed my eyes because the idea of him with anyone but me was hard to take. “Did it work?” I asked.

“Open your eyes for me, baby,” he gently ordered. I caught a slight glint of humor in his gaze. “Not even a little bit.”

I let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding onto. And he gifted me with a smile that warmed me all over.

She might only teach first grade, but her kids had books and binders full of state-mandated homework and classwork to complete.

My Review:

Adoring ink is the second title in the 2017 1,001 Dark Nights series as well as part of Carrie Ann Ryan’s Montgomery Ink series. Man, I loved this sexy sweet story. I’m a sucker for an opposites attract love story and this was such a great example of that!

One of the things I love most about Carrie Ann’s writing is the uncanny knack she has for writing real and relatable characters in real and relatable situations. Holly and Brody were shining examples of that talent. I loved these two together. I mean what’s better than a sweet girl on a mission to shed some of her good girl ways and live life on the wild side from time to time and the delicious hero willing to show her how? The attraction and heat between them was delicious to read and I loved watching their relationship evolve as the story went on. I was so sad to have realized I finished it as fast as I did because I didn’t want my time with Holly and Brody to end! This will definitely be a novella I add to my re-read shelf 🙂

Which Titan characters will be in the other author’s stories? The authors had free rein. Some took on Titan like missions while others wrote backstories to characters and expanded on their families. They took scenes from current Titan books and expanded in a new direction.

What is the reading order of the Titan World? There is NO READING order (Even if one of the retailers has randomly assigned a series number. Ahem, I’m looking at you, Amazon.).
