My Review In Short:

Ok, first I have to say: if you haven’t read this series, you really must.  I just adore this couple and their journey. So much so that I have their tattoo (yep, you read the right!) so to say I was excited to read more of this couple would be an understatement. Checking in with this novella was a dream come true and I loved every second of it!

I loved seeing where they are today.  I loved seeing how their relationship and marriage has evolved and seeing how far they’ve come.  I also loved seeing how, once again, they overcome adversity.  This is by far one of my fave book couples and I will always want to see more of them (hint, hint, Jen lol!!).  Seriously, though, if you haven’t picked up the Out Of Line series, you really must.  I know you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you, Jen, for giving us this newest peek into the lives of two of my fave book characters!

Dirty Filthy Fix by Laurelin Paige…ARC Review

Dirty Filthy Fix releases TOMORROW!

Synopsis:

I like sex. Kinky sex. The kinkier the better.

Every day, it’s all I think about as I serve coffee and hand out business agendas to men who have no idea I’m not the prim, proper girl they think I am.

With a day job as the secretary to one of New York’s most powerful men, Hudson Pierce, I have to keep my double life quiet. As long as I do, it’s not a problem.

Enter: Nathan Sinclair. Tall, dark and handsome doesn’t come close to describing how hot he is. And that’s with his clothes on. But after a dirty, filthy rendezvous, I accept that if we ever see each other again, he’ll walk right by my desk on his way to see my boss without recognizing me.

Only, that’s not what happens. Not the first time I see him after the party. Or the next time. Or the time after that. And as much as I try to stop it, my two worlds are crashing into each other, putting my job and my reputation at risk.

And all I can think about is Nathan Sinclair.

All I can think about is getting just one more dirty, filthy fix.

My Review:

Dirty Filthy Fix is the newest in author Laurelin Paige’s Fixed Trilogy and is the 21st release in 1,001 Dark Nights’ 2017 line-up.  I always know I can count on a decadently sexy, emotional story from Ms. Paige and this was certainly no exception. I loved every minute of this novella!
I imagine it has to be hard to pack such a punch in a novella length story, although when it comes to Laurelin Paige, you’d never know it.  From the very start we are treated to complex characters with wonderfully layered personalities.  I loved Trish and how well she knew herself and what she wanted out of men and her sex life.  Even when presented with some hard choices, she didn’t compromise in what makes her happy.  I loved that.  I also loved Nathan for the same reasons.  He is unapologetically who he is and wants to live the life he’s made for himself.  On the flip side, they both are willing to compromise to give their relationship a try.  Man, I loved the ending to this book and how they made things work!
Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the wonderfully sexy and sensual scenes Nathan and Trish share.  My goodness, Ms. Paige delivers on the heat and then some!
Dirty Filthy Fix is one helluva delicious fix, that’s for sure!  Whether you’re a long-time Laurelin Paige fan or this is your first taste, I know you will love this story as much as I did!

USA Today and New York Times Bestselling Author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory…Guest ARC Review

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory ARC Review by Selene

Synopsis:

Agreeing to go to a wedding with a guy she gets stuck with in an elevator is something Alexa Monroe wouldn’t normally do. But there’s something about Drew Nichols that’s too hard to resist.

On the eve of his ex’s wedding festivities, Drew is minus a plus one. Until a power outage strands him with the perfect candidate for a fake girlfriend…

After Alexa and Drew have more fun than they ever thought possible, Drew has to fly back to Los Angeles and his job as a pediatric surgeon, and Alexa heads home to Berkeley, where she’s the mayor’s chief of staff. Too bad they can’t stop thinking about the other…

They’re just two high-powered professionals on a collision course toward the long distance dating disaster of the century–or closing the gap between what they think they need and what they truly want…

My review:

Expectation: Cute, light read.

Reality: Complete and total adoration of the characters that had me crying right along with them.

I can summarize this novel by Jasmine Guillory in one word – refreshing. The main characters of Alexa and Drew felt more real to me than those of the last few novels I’ve read, especially because they had real jobs, real obstacles, and real concerns about relationships. At the beginning of the novel, I was enjoying the fun, flirty vibe between the characters, and by the end, I was screaming at my Kindle for these two to just work out their issues! Drew’s hangups on relationships and Alexa’s insecurities with herself were both very relatable and provided for some great internal struggle.

The love scenes in this novel were definintely hot but not overly explicit, which kept it very interesting, in my opinion. And, a hot doctor that knows all the right places to touch on a body? Yes, please!

My only gripe with The Wedding Date, and a minor one at that, is that I actually wanted to know more about the secondary characters, including: Theo, Carlos, and Maddie. They were all as real and relatable as the protagonist couple and I would have liked just a little more insight into their lives and relationships with the main characters.

If you’re looking for something sexy and fresh this Valentine’s, I would highly suggest The Wedding Date!

Cover Reveal…Sex, Not Love by Vi Keeland

We are thrilled to bring you the next standalone novel from #1 New York Times Bestselling Author, Vi Keeland. SEX, NOT LOVE will release on January 15th, 2018

Model: Fabian Castro
Photographer: Rafael Catala
Cover designer: Sommer Stein, Perfect Pear Creative

My relationship with Hunter Delucia started backwards.

We met at a wedding—him sitting on the groom’s side, me sitting on the bride’s. Stealing glances at each other throughout the night, there was no denying an intense, mutual attraction.

I caught the bouquet; he caught the garter. Hunter held me tightly while we danced and suggested we explore the chemistry sparking between us. His blunt, dirty mouth should’ve turned me off. But for some crazy reason, it had the opposite effect on me.

We ended up back in my hotel room. The next morning, I headed home to New York leaving him behind in California with the wrong number.

I thought about him often, but after my last relationship, I’d sworn off of charming, cocky, gorgeous-as-sin men. A year later, Hunter and I met again at the birth of our friends’ baby. Our attraction hadn’t dulled one bit. After a whirlwind trip, he demanded a real phone number this time. So I left him with my mother’s—she could scare away any man with her talks of babies and marriage—and flew back home.

I’d thought it was funny, until the following week when he rang the bell at Mom’s house for Sunday night dinner. The crazy, gorgeous man had won over my mother and taken an eight-week assignment in my city. He proposed we spend that time screwing each other out of our systems.

Eight weeks of mind-blowing sex with no strings attached? What did I have to lose?

Nothing, I thought.

It’s just sex, not love.

But you know what they say about the best laid plans…

Excerpt:

At the empathetic tone in Sean’s voice, Lotti’s heart and stomach and head all clenched in unison. “What do you mean you can’t give me what I want?” she asked. “All you have to do is walk away.”

“Tried that already,” he said. “And it was the biggest mistake of my life.” He brought her hand up to his mouth and met her gaze over their entwined hands.

He was looking at her like . . . well, she wasn’t sure what was going on in his head, but her thoughts were racing along with her pulse.

“You’re incredible, Lotti. I hope you know that.” Very slowly, clearly giving her time to object, he pulled her into him.

Her breath caught at the connection and his eyes heated in response as he slid a hand up her spine and then back down again, pressing her in tight to him from chest to thighs and everywhere in between. His nose was cold at the crook of her neck, but his breath was warm against her skin. She felt his lips press against the sensitive spot just behind her ear and she shivered. “You’re trembling,” he said, his voice low. “Are you cold?”

“No,” she whispered. Try the opposite of cold . . .

“Nervous?”

“No.” Not even close. The way his mouth moved across her skin was making her warm all over. Not that she could articulate that with his body pressed to hers and his fingers dancing over her skin. She was literally quivering as the memories of what it felt like to be touched by him washed over her, as if no time at all had gone by.

Yes, she’d let him think that their time together had sucked for her. But it hadn’t. Not even close. That long-ago night he’d evoked feelings and a hunger in her that she’d never forgotten. “I’ve just had a long day,” she said.

“I know. I’m going to make it better.” He pressed a kiss at the juncture of her jaw and ear before he made his way to her lips for a slow, hot kiss, his mouth both familiar and yet somehow brand-new. She was so far gone that when he pulled back she protested with a moan, but he held her tight, staring down at her with heated eyes. “Just checking,” he murmured.

“Checking what?”

“That you want this as badly as I do.”

If Raven Crosby hadn’t picked up some hacking tips from QI4, I’d eat my shoe.

She’d left as they were growing. Kept her stock options. That never happens. She was also still friendly with Taylor Harden, the hacker brain behind QI4’s quantum system.

I figured they’d parted on good terms. Maybe with something hanging over Taylor’s head.

My team ended up with a few folders on her. I told myself I was a lawyer. Collecting data on people was what I did for a living.

But this was different.

A week in, I was obsessed with her ebony hair and eyes. Lashes drawn on with black Sharpie. Her voice was hypnotic in meetings, and was only heard after long stretches of listening. The night before, she’d tipped her hand, showing me that she’d peeled the curtain back to get intel on me. I didn’t feel violated as much as vindicated. The attraction was mutual. She wouldn’t have done it for any other reason.

“I’ll be there at eight,” I said to my sister, Teagan. We had a dinner planned half an hour before, but I didn’t want to go. It wasn’t the rain that pounded on the windows. It wasn’t my sister. Teagan was fine, but the office was empty and Raven was right across the hall, working in the glow of a desk lamp.

“You better be,” she said. “I’m starving and I need to get drunk.”

“Get a head start at the bar.”

“I’m not going to sit at the end of the bar by myself with a drink. Do you even know what it’s like out there for a girl?”

I didn’t know firsthand, obviously, but I knew enough from her. Teagan was a career gamer and game designer. One of the best. She had a sweet, harmless face that made her approachable to even the most beta of betas. Regardless, even the betas tried to compete with her once they knew what she did. I was exhausted on her behalf.

Across the hall, Raven stood and clicked off her desk lamp.

“Leaving now,” I said, cutting the call. I grabbed my things and headed out, timing it perfectly so we met in the hall.

“Hi,” I said.

She nodded and gave me a non-committal smile. We spoke often, but never a word that didn’t have to do with the human resources software implementation and how it would protect Neuronet from liability.

“It’s raining,” I said. “You taking the elevator to the parking lot?”

The executive lot was underground, on the other side of campus. If you wanted to get there underground, without crossing the courtyard and getting rained on, you had to take the elevator.

“Yes.” She started down the hall and I followed.

“I’ll walk you.”

About CD Reiss:

C.D. Reiss is a USA Today bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to chop a cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant “skillfully melds history and legend” (RT Book Reviews) in a brand new series – The Kindred.

To live in the light, they hunt in the dark…

Unparalleled in beauty and daring, Leoma has been raised with a single-minded focus—to wipe out corrupt witches. But when her new target leads her to a discovery that unveils a graver plan from the Coven, she doesn’t hesitate to follow. Yet, she’s not the only one on the hunt. And the sexy, infuriating man who crosses her path could prove to be a distraction—something she’s never encountered before.

Honor and family mean everything to Braith. When his life is turned upside down by the murder of his ward and heir without cause or reason, he has no choice but to turn to vengeance. Until a stunning, dangerous woman continues to thwart his efforts at every turn. Now, he must battle not only his need for revenge but his desire for the female, as well.

EXCERPT

Teaming up with the knight had never been in
Leoma’s plans. Then again, she knew the best way to defeat an enemy was to
adjust course whenever necessary.
And having Braith fight with her was the best
decision.
At least she could keep an eye on him instead
of trying to fight him as well as Brigitta. Now that he knew what he would be
going up against, she suspected Braith could be a good ally.
She finished her bread as she observed him.
While it wasn’t her first time seeing a man’s bare chest since she trained with
males at the abbey, this was different.
Braith was different.
No matter how much she tried to tell herself
that he was only a man, just like Radnar or any of the others at the abbey, he
wasn’t.
Braith might look at the world like a knight at
home in battle. But he also carried himself like a man who looked death in the
eye. Then spat at it.
Those qualities appealed to her on a primal
level. He caused her heart to thump wildly, and her blood to rush through her.
She was drawn to him. Without rhyme or reason, she could feel herself
gravitating toward him.
She was shocked and alarmed at the way her body
reacted to him. But even she couldn’t deny the exhilaration that being near him
brought.
The glimpse she had of his chest made her
recall how she had spread his ruined tunic to get a better look at him earlier.
Even now, she wished to see the rest of him.
Her mouth went dry when his indigo eyes met
hers after he inspected his hand once more. It took her two attempts to
swallow. She wished she knew what he was thinking.
His chest expanded as he drew in a deep breath
and released it. “What’s our next move?”
“We wait.”
“Wait?” A dark brow shot up in question.
She couldn’t help but grin. Of course, he
wouldn’t agree. She expected as much, and she knew it wouldn’t be the last
time. “Aye.”
“Why?”
“The main reason is that we know Brigitta wants
you for something.”
Braith crossed his arms over his chest, his
lips flattening in displeasure. “I’m bait.”
“Is that a problem?”
“Nay,” he said tightly. Then he asked, “And the
other reason?”
Leoma looked in the direction of the Witch’s
Grove. “I’ve seen witches do many things with magic, but I’ve never seen one
use it to disappear.”
“That was…shocking.”
“She could’ve gone anywhere.” And that bothered
Leoma greatly. She slid her gaze back to Braith. “We have no way of tracking
her.”
He lifted a shoulder. “Consider me bait, then.”
They shared a grin. She hadn’t expected him to
be so accommodating. Most men were used to being in control. The idea of a
woman running things generally went against everything a man knew. Especially
men like Braith.
Then again, maybe he was smart enough to know
that if he wanted to stay out of the Coven’s hands, he needed her. Or they
needed each other since he had no experience with witches.
Leoma wasn’t sure what to make of the emotions
that swirled seductively within her. Having his eyes on her did strange and
amazing things. Heat and…need glided through her. Slowly. Seductively.

Prince Roman by C.D. Reiss…ARC Review

Prince Roman releases TOMORROW!

Synopsis:

Rules for my new job:
1) Do not have sex with a man in the office (again).
2) Do not break Rule #1

I’m playing it cool, clean, and professional…until I meet Roman Bianchi. He’s not an insecure nerd or an ego-hole like the other kings of Silicon Valley. He’s charming and handsome. He’s fun, funny, and smart.

He’s also in the office across the hall.

Two broken rules waiting to happen.
I can’t lose this job over some guy.
But Roman’s not just some guy. Under that suit and cocky smile, he’s a prince.

My Review:

Prince Roman is the newest work from author C.D. Reiss and is novella number 19 in the 2017 1,001 Dark Nights lineup.  I always know I can count on Ms. Reiss for a sexy, fun, flirty story with a kick ass heroine and boy, oh, boy this was no exception.

As in the real world, workplace romance can be very very tricky.  Never has this been more true than in the situation we find Raven and Roman. You see, Raven is the woman in charge and Roman works for her.  That, I must say, was the aspect I most enjoyed.  I love a strong female lead and think it is so damn important in this day and age, especially.  She was a boss both inside the boardroom and in the bedroom, being unabashed when it came to saying exactly what she desired.  But I also loved Roman in that he could let Raven take the lead but also assert his own delicious brand of alpha dominance. Yummy with a capital “Y”!

These two were off the charts smoking hot and I couldn’t get enough of them.  Adding to their insanely scorching chemistry is the internal struggle they both go through when they start to realize what was supposed to be a casual, secret fling is turning into much more and the possible ramifications of what that could mean for both of their careers.  I don’t want to ruin even one second of their journey for you, so you have to trust me when I say: pick up this book!

Whether you’re already a fan of Ms. Reiss or this is your first taste, I know you will adore Prince Roman!
