This book has left me an emotional mess on so many levels. Ty and Elin’s story is one filled with angst, love, regret, hopefulness, and sorrow. This book will leave you emotionally scarred.
“Life does pack a punch. But it’s the scars that make us who we are, that tell the story of the life we lived.”
Ty and Elin’s journey is real life at it’s finest. Every relationship goes through it’s ups and downs, good times and bad times. But it’s how you react to those times that really tests your strength.
This is a story about second chances and digging deep into your soul. It’s also about loving people with your whole heart and loving them unequivocally. Life throws you punches, you just have to learn how to dodge them or sometimes learn how to heal from the pain.
The last bit of this book really hit me hard. As the granddaughter of coal miner, I knew the risks every day that my grandfather took. And each day, when he came home to my grandmother, was a gift to them. Do not take people for granted. Do not take life for granted. Live every new day as though it’s your last. Love every new day even harder than the day before.
“Don’t make decisions because you just want to end the pain.”
This book has different meaning for me than it will for most people. But it’s a damn amazing story with a lot of meaning behind it. It’s one book I will highly recommend to everyone to read.
