Synopsis:
The last McKay standing is knocked to his knees…
Three years ago, Dalton McKay looked across the altar and saw the woman he knew he’d love for the rest of his life…only it wasn’t his bride. That’s when he took the McKays’ love-’em-and-leave-’em reputation to new heights—fleeing the ceremony and Wyoming.
Now a family issue has brought Dalton back to Sundance, giving him a chance to prove to everyone—especially the woman he thought he lost—that he’s a changed man.
Aurora “Rory” Wetzler has fallen for cowboy hottie Dalton’s smooth-talkin’ ways too many times. So he’s determined to convince her he’s playing for keeps this go around? Fine. She’ll call that bluff—she can’t ignore their intense chemistry or resist smokin’ hot sex, but she’s not willing to gamble her heart again.
Dalton has plenty of fences to mend with the McKays, but his biggest fear is that Rory doesn’t believe they have a future. He’ll have to pull out all the stops to show her they belong together for the long haul.
Selene’s Review:
Lorelei James strikes again!
With this fifteenth book in the series, the author once again had me falling in love with a character I hadn’t thought twice about: Dalton McKay!
We first see Dalton leaving his bride-to-be, and good friend to the love of his life Rory, at the altar and fleeing to a life of mostly solitude in Montana. But upon his return three years later is when the real drama starts… and I loved every minute of it!
The heat between the two protagonists is undeniable and, quite frankly, it pissed me off that these two were always so blind to the special connection they’d always had. But every time they came together, it was an affirmation of that strong relationship. Dalton is easily one of the more romantic McKays and is so almost unintentionally, which I think makes him even more loveable. He had a lot of growing up to do and it’s a good thing for the couple that he did before their wild ride because it was Rory’s turn to mature and finally accept what was in front of her the whole time.
Throw in the whole situation with Dalton’s brothers and his father Casper as well as the special connection with his mother and you have yourself a very, very encompassing and touching story. James knows how to write relationships and for that I will always be grateful.
Fortunately for us readers, the series is not yet over. The author will release the final book in the series next year and I think it’ll be hard to follow the likes of Redneck Romeo!
Five Loves
From author website:
A bit about me: When I’m not squirreled away behind my laptop writing fun, sexy, contemporary erotic romances set in the modern day Wild West, I can be found reading everything under the sun, practicing yoga until I’m a pretzel, shootin’ my .22, watching the Professional Bull Riders tour on Versus, and running a kid’s taxi service, all in the guise of avoiding housework and rustlin’ up vittles.
Why do I have a particular fondness for all things western? Well, I’m a fourth generation South Dakotan, living in the Black Hills, which is chock-full of interesting characters, including cowboys, Indians, ranchers, and bikers. The geographical diversity of the surrounding area showcases mountains, plains, and badlands. Living in and writing about rural settings gives me a unique perspective, especially since I’m not writing historical westerns. Through my fictional world, I can show the ideals and the cowboy way of life are still very much alive.
